I commented this before or even if they say this but if you walk 20 minutes or more a day, you have a 41% lesser chance of getting sick or the common cold and the walkers who do get sick recover twice as fast as nonwalkers.
I think walking or swimming is always better for the person who don’t like running or for the person who are not able to run.
Wait until you get menopause stomach. Hahahaha. Good times good times.
She talks a lot about food and diet on her channel where you talk a lot about calories in calories out the problem with this is that it is not helpful to people who have any type of food issues or bingeing or anorexia. Also you have no scientific background in this only your personal experience. I’m commenting this because your videos have become harmful to me. So I suggest you look at a creators full content or at least more then one video before making a judgement call about it.
The science of walking is a video about the hidden science of walking. It deals with the impact of walking and lack of walking on the mind and the body through the citation of a scientific and philosophical literature: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVcD_0okJ6k
I’ve been walking an hour everyday almost 5 month not even lost weight:(
Running is more effective, but if running is too hard, walk. For many people, running hurts or is too hard.
I’ve been trying to up my steps to 10k a day and I have. I do >15 mins outside but a lot of my walking is indoors in place because of quarantine. Is walking in place as good?
I started walking this past Monday 6/1/20, so today was my 5th day. The group GirlTrek has really motivated me to start walking. My goal was to walk 30 minutes per day but I’ve been walking for an hour and sometimes more. I feel great! I plan to continue my daily walks even after the pandemic is over.♀️
The bigger stomach in some runners is most likely due to eating more calories than you are burning. Too bad your certifications and master degree aren’t based on sound logic. Watch this rebuttal by a non-certified person with better reasoning skills. “Obesetobeast” https://youtu.be/SrSXBDfx-Rg
Walking is great. I only run on weekends. With walking i am able to recover for squats and deadlift.
Walk my first 5 miles a day it wasn’t that bad it was more of that heat of 104 degrees that got to me
I am in the habit of walking 1 hour morning and 1 hour evening last 5 month
I went straight to the comments immediately after seeing her doing push ups.
I tried to explain this to my friend and he asked me why runners are so skinny then compared to walkers.
If you walk 10 miles per day, thats 1,100 calories a day you’re burning. That would play a massive part in weight loss.
You can walk 10 miles a day if you can spare 3 hours a day.
And you don’t need to rest up as much as you do when you run.
Also, to burn fat, your heart rate needs to stay in the aerobic zone. Most running isnt done in the aerobic zone. The heart rate is generally too high, so you’re using sugar as fuel and not body fat.
People being rude need to stop. Even if the information is misguided, I don’t think it is with ill intentions and walking does help a lot of people get healthier in general. There’s no reason to be so rude if you wish to provide a correction to her. Seriously, y’all need empathy and understanding. It’s ridiculous to default to name calling when there is already so much confusion about weightloss. There’s no reason to be a jerk if someone is TRYING to help people and there is a way to mention concerns/corrections without being petty. I hope everyone leaving nasty comments as opposed to constructive criticism, grow up
Walking helped me lose close to 40 pounds within the last year. I did almost no running or regular exercise. Just walking and controlling my excessive eating patterns and it helped a lot. Walking really is good for you. Not sure if its better than running but it’s good exercise and can really help with weight loss combined with good and healthy eating patterns
I love the perspective that fitness and nutrition are separate and that fitness really shouldn’t be about weight loss but about improving quality of life (i.e. bone mass, strength, range of motion, etc.). This has been my fitness motivation for years.
I agree powerwalking is better than running I need to walk more & i pray to God this pandemic heals in a positive light so i can walk more naturally healthy happy may God bless us please someone send more positive feedback
There’s a misconception about cortisol. It gets released in order for us to cope with stress. That’s how the maker engineered us.
I’m doing this from today don’t know it’s gonna work or not
So sad that am gaining weight coz I can’t walk or do most activities without help. Its been 6 years now. My RA has robbed me a lot.
Thank you, I just joined your channel. I’m going to start.walking now. You’re so nice.
Just walk 11k steps this morning and plan to walk again in the afternoon to make it 15k yey
Been walking alot lately and I clearly see a difference already!
I lasted 2.5 minutes, annoying old trout. Whine whine whine.
Who the hell is going to count to 10,000. Thats crazy.. How about 1/8,1/4 or maybe 1/2 mile…
Fat loss is 15 percent exercise and 85 percent diet. In my opinion, jogging (not running) is the happy medium for fat loss.
Stop fuking saying that… Check out my that llink my bla video… Fuck all.. Just put a statement on specific topic n say fuking eversingle helping statements… Dont fuck us with ur fucking bla bla
I agree about the wrist worn tracker. I love mine but its obvious that the calorie burn count is way off. It almost always says I burn 4k plus a day.. there’s now way.. I basically use it as an indicator of how active I was that day and use it to set goals..
I also lost weight by walking and eating well: https://youtu.be/lnXBxHqWe_k
I also started walking from last 3 months.I walk 18900 steps today...I am happy because day by day I increased the steps…..
Thank you very much. This was very informative and what I needed to hear. I’m a new subscriber.
Oh damn I was walking straight 1-2 hrs in one shot. I should split this up throughout the day….
I disagree. High Intensity short distance running is better than walking. Long term running isn’t nearly as good as that. Facts bruh.
Walking for weight loss is all about losing calories. The more resistance in your walk the more calories burned. I haven’t heard any “walking expert” suggest walking using your hands on an incline with extra weights added to your frame. Any YT weight loss guru can claim and use this tactic.
Also walking is good for lower back pain recovery. I had a hurniated disc, walking on a treadmill and using a inversion table really helps.
The simple premise of “calories in, calories out” has been debunked because your hormones also have a lot to do with whether or not we gain or lose weight, particularly insulin, which spikes according to WHAT you eat and HOW OFTEN you eat, not necessarily how much of it. This is true for everyone, not just those with hormonal issues. Not saying amount of food doesn’t influence your weight, it does, but it’s not that simple. There are so many other factors that influence whether or not you’ll pack on the pounds.
You look so weak physically… I don’t think you eat how much your body needs…it looks like your body (stomach) is crying for food. Who gave certificates…I am wondering… it’s true you are really certified nutritionist….I am wondering…
Really it doesn’t seems you do enough exercise…to lose fat and keep your body fit and fine.
Can you ran 10 minutes straight…I mean nonstop in high speed…in the ground….I am wondering myself.
Are you getting or understanding whatever you are speaking…I am wondering myself.
L❤️VE this video!!! Please do more healthy living videos: eating, unplugging, sleep etc…
OF COURSE too much running is not good. That will cause a host of issues especially for women with the female athlete triad. But doing so responsibly is incredibly good for building lean muscle and improving cardiovascular health. All my runners, keep doing you.
What about touring with a bike, outside. 10km a day. How good is it for loosing weight?
Legit speed walking is actually harder and painful lol I was far more sore doing speed walking than running, so walking can definitely be as effective as running, but doing something you love is definitely the key!

My doctor told me that walking is better. I go to a doctor of physical therapy at Mayo Clinic and I think he’s pretty trustworthy, he explained to me that when you are already physically fit running in moderation is fine but when you are trying to get healthy, lose weight or simply just want to maintain a good physique walking is all you need to do and really all you should be doing on a regular basis. Of course people can do whatever they want…but he recommended walking only because it saves the joints and works the body gently but effectively.
Hi Autumn I am new to your channel and I have so many questions but let me explain some things about myself. I am 50 years old I was born with rare form of MD. I am not wheelchair bound so I have some balance issues and obviously muscle issues so it is easier for me to do like in home walk in place videos then going outside, how effective is that compared to outdoors?
I daily walk (slow & fast combination) for 1 hour, 6 days a week, feels more energetic & lost 3 kg in a month without changing diet.
Watching this video raised my cortisol levels.
If you’re going to do a video about walking while walking, at least use a steady cam…
Long story short, diet is probably the #1 problem for people trying to lose fat because they overestimate their caloric expenditure and underestimate their caloric intake. For anyone serious about cutting down or who maybe has hit a plateau, diet would be the first thing I’d look at. As a point of metabolic potentiality, the most calories a human can burn in an hour with any workout is about 1,000 and that would probably be the hardest workout of your life. On the flip side, the most calories a human can consume in an hour is >20,000 for competitive eaters, but for most people might be closer to 3,000 to 5,000 (that’s only 3-5 tubs of 14-oz Ben & Jerry’s). These numbers are just estimates, but the main point is that it is IMPOSSIBLE for a normal human’s caloric expenditure potentiality to exceed caloric intake potentiality. That’s just how our bodies are built, which is very efficient for survival, but not for weight loss (because weight loss is, at a certain point, the very enemy of survival). Good luck to you all in maintaining your diet and exercise and reaching your goals!
i’ve been at 10k on average for years, but the next month i’m challenging myself to 15k but it’s so hard when my country is on semi-lockdown
Your full of shit, nothing you say makes sense, fake degree lol, disgusting. thinks she can lie to the whole community lmfao
I don’t run everyday. I usually try to get running in 2 days a week. I usually do about 3 to 4 miles. I am trying to get back into things. The work at home for Caronavirus has made me fall into lazy habits. I just walked up and down the hill of my apartment complex for over 14,000 steps
Is it walking on the spot counted to this video? I mean, we’re in quarantine. We can actively everyday go outside and walk. And I can stand walking on treadmill, it’s boring like crazy. To keep moving, I walk on the spot while watching TV. I think, hei…it’s better to do at least this instead of enjoying watching TV and doing nothing.
Am I doing right? Please reply. Thanks. Sending lots of love from Indonesia ❤️
Thank god! My knees cant handle it neither can my back. Im 198 pounds at 5″10 age 35. I used to be 165 pounds. Age beer smoking a cheating whore wife stressful job going broke all that shit has crippled my health. However i started working out a month ago and i havent lost any weight but my arms chest and shoulders have been getting noticeably toned. Others have noticed too. So i need to eat better, less and walk my ass off i guess
You don’t want to lose weight, you want to lose fat. By following stupid diet plans, I was primarily losing muscle mass. Oh god, how dumb I was? You only need correct diet and some kind of training, and the best thing is that you can find both (and much more) on website called *Next Level Diet*.
If you are lazy i guess you can walk but this video is STRAIGHT BS. i hope they pay you well for this misinformation.
How come walking is the best cardio? You barely get your heart rate up and how does that carry over to overall cardio exercises? I want to be good at sprinting.
Last month i started walking on the trendmill for 1hr everyday except one day in the week, and my oh my! I lost 5kgs in a month and mind u i used to the HIT but all in vain…. But now i smile more so cause i lost vesceral fat.
Thank you for this video, very informative, I started to walk 10k-15k steps a day during lockdown. And I feel great. I’m not gym person or runner. Love walking and hiking instead. Also I live in Scotland, so many trails and hills here to explore!
To wrap this up, go for a brisk walk enjoy it, if you like running go for it, as long as your getting some form of exercise everyday your heart will thank you and remember for weight loss it begins in the kitchen, beware of what your eating hand to mouth think smart make the right choices. Enjoy your walk thanks
It’s crazy how much you look Like freelee the banana girl! Like a healthier version ofc.
I didn’t notice that you are so alike to Natalia Juarez (mexican)
I walk 15,000+ every day works out 6/7 miles a day and feel amazing for it
Great video. I eat a ketogenic diet to help combat my epilepsy. I also do fasting and intermittent fasting and go hiking while in a fasted state. I feel so much better exercising on ketones than I do carbs.
The thing about walking is it’s so easy. I walk 10k steps a day and do 30-45 minutes workout a day. The walking is just nice. It’s not working out but also it gives you more calories to eat if you want that. If everyone walked 5 miles a day I think a lot of people will be less big
Autumn has a MASTERS degree and Greg Doucette has a.. yelling ability. Why are people so dumb to accept that science finds NEW THINGS over time and that some are great?
I used to do brutal workouts that I dreaded and forced myself to do with sheer will power because I thought that would get me results. It did get me results relatively quickly but it was not sustainable and put me in a dysfunctional mental space about what exercise and being active really was.
I then started walking 10,000 or more steps a day and loved it, remained consistent and felt great. I also didn’t eat as much as I did when I would really push myself hard in the gym. A walk didnt feel as exerting or draining so I didn’t mentally feel like I “earned” food…(another disfunctional thought process).
Walking helped me break free of disordering thinking of what activity and movement is for the body and how to eat in balance and proper portions without starving or rewarding (bingeing) yourself.
I would say it’s more time vs. distance. Walking a mile and running a mile have there respective benefits. But, running for 30min vs. walking 30min…. this is just a no-brainer.
Total BS. How many long-distance runners have belly fat. Cortisol is a stress hormone, if there’s anything running does is to reduce stress.
You are right clever man i tried everything.
Walking is the best.
I love the channel but the music in the background while you’re talking (especially with headphones on) is distracting.
Walking is low impact but is slower at bringing calories vs running. Depends on your goals.
Girl no. I’m studying global nutrition and health, and you are literally going against what you’ve learnt in your curriculum… listen, cortisol is increased due to stress being applied on the body, that’s normal. That’s any kind of activity and the higher intensity, the higher stress on the body, the more cortisol! Easy right? The next thing is that so many studies says that it’s about your EE and how much kJ you intake. You lose weight if you expend more energy than you consume, it’s seen as a fact. Give me the studies saying otherwise, and I will give bias on the studies in no time! Theoretically running in the right circumstances is more effective in burning more energy than walking, but in practice other factors come into play, and no it’s not your body’s damn hormones (that only contributes to small percentages). The higher the intensity an exercise has the more energy from stored glucose in the liver and muscles is fueling the body, which will increase the need for carbohydrates/glucose in the system! You get hungry . So even though you burn more, you most likely will end up consuming more. Your end result is fine, but the reasonings you got there is just plain nonsense. It’s the same as saying you don’t burn any fat when insulin levels are elevated in the body. Stop spreading wrong information. If you really have these degrees you should know you are wrong.
I love how inclusive this video is. People from all walks of life and races are represented
Running, jogging and walking are all crap for weight loss. Check out the car.o.l bike on YouTube. They have a fat specific program that lasts ten minutes and has been scientifically proven to be nine times more effective than running in reducing body fat.
I’ve long assumed I’m perceptive enough to realize the absolute beating my joints take when I attempt to run. And I’m a tall, lean individual a hair over 6′ tall, and around 156 lbs., so it’s not like I’m carrying lots of excess baggage! This is what I’m totally in love with cycling, but am still more than happy to walk or hike on days where I can’t, or just don’t feel like riding.
Man wtf is this bullshit, fucking excuses to be lazy, just spewing out a bunch of bullshit
I know that walking is definitely easier on the knees. I was in the Army and running, among other things destroyed my knees so now I only run if my life depends on it. Lol. But I think if you enjoy running, do it but just be careful and aware of your knees. Any exercise is better than no exercise, so do what you enjoy and do it safely!
I can’t run anyway because it’s so fkn hard I can run only few seconds and I’m winded lol
But if I walk 40 minutes a day in the end it doesn’t really help me loose weight?
Not to mention the pounding that runnin on your joints (knees, hips, spine) over time…
If you can’t speak english dont force people to listen to this computerized speaking shit
I do HIIT on Monday, Wednesday, Friday! That includes 20 minutes of up and down stairs! Man, it’s a serious workout! Then, i power walk on Tuesdays and Thursdays!!
I GOT 2KG OF LEAN MUSCLE MASS IN ONE MONTH!!! I simply visited website called NextLevelDiet and they provided me with diet plan, training plan along with amazing fitness and nutrition tips. Believe me, it’s just amazing!!! #*Next Level Diet*
I see other video that state that walking without huffing and puffing (<120bpm) which is aerobic exercises, you are primarily burning fat. After 120bpm, the fuel use are primarily glucose as we are entering survival state. Therefore runner would feel most likely need more sugar after running as they need to replenish the sugar that they burn... Worst is that the sugar capacity in the body are limited, so if the runner run longer, the sugar will run out and body will tear muscle to create emergency sugar that they feel needed. Before I watch that video, I always felt sad that when I exercise, the fat stay the same but instead I lost some muscle. After some adjustment(incorporated weight training + walking only), the data show increases muscle while my fat decrease. This never happen before as usually it will show muscle decrease, fat decrease after a long time...
During the current pandemic, I’ve taken up walking.
It has simply saved my life. It is one of the reasons I’m still here x
In the beginning, I was just laying in bed at times and pretty much without any motivation and just wanting to wither away.
Now I’m feeling stronger, more confident and believing in myself ❤
I have walked 7km every morning for the last ten weeks…….result?…..I’ve gained 4 pounds…..mmmmmm.
that’s basically what I found out after spending 2 semesters in Japan. Eat low calorie food, walk every day. Walk even more!
I disagree. Walked 6 miles every day and didnt see drastic weight loss. Now I run 4 miles 3 times a week and DROPPED weight.
This was great. Thanks for making the information available! I started walking a few months ago, 4.7k per walk, 3x/wk, 9.3-10.3 km/h, 45 mins. It makes a massive difference in weight loss and mental health.
Brothers and sisters I’ve got a new job were I have to walk for 11 hours. I dont if it’s a blessing or a curse.
Guys the important thing to do is ur push up form needs to be perfect if u don’t do perfect position ur not making progress so
Who else does know how to perform push ups but never bothered to practice them?
T-shirt: I find your lack of strength disturbing. Me: Fuck off.
Walking is the best medicine in the world to keep us fit and healthy…1000%.
the planks was just a picture coz
we could have seen the shaking experience at 10th seconds (her max)
No fat will leave your body if you frequently eat, triggering insulin.
Insulin consistently at a high level tells your body to STORE fat which means you are burning sugar.
You have to get people to low insulin so that your body switches over to burning stored fat for energy.
It’s that simple…. and exercise enhances that once you get your body into fat burning.
The solution is Fasting/Intermittent Fasting. You can still eat the SAME calories but you eat them within a tighter window (8 hrs, 4hrs, etc.) and you need to eliminate the processed sugar and processed carbs..
Thank You for posting this informative video. But I am having a hard time meeting my daily calorie amount so if I add 10k steps in, I am afraid that my body may think that I’m starving it. ♀️ idk anymore.
Walking is good because you just walk every where to shops etc!
if y’all want the science behind this, watch this https://youtu.be/GoQ_Qt2REgQ
My reaction when people discover that their evolutionary advantage of walking and running long distances have benefits
Ancestors:dissapointed
I would recommend you find some poles to walk. http://www.keenfit.com has them. Been using them for over 13 years. Gives you a great ‘cross country ski’ movement and burns way more calories than just plain walking in a shorter time. Also, it makes you walk faster without realizing it. Combined with carnivore/keto and intermittent fasting, I have broke my year and a half plateau and dropped another 8lbs in 6 weeks. I try to walk about 5-6 times a week but I have no idea how many steps I’m taking.
What if you walk for 10-20 hours straight without breaks. Will that drop blood glucose and increase cortisol? Not doing power walking as talked in the video, just normal walk for that amount of time.
Sooo question…i work 8 hours a day mon friday all day on my feet and I’m not able to spread out my walks and can only do them once I get home. Is that bad? What should I do?
Your calorie burn is the same whether you wak, run, or crawl a given distance. You are just speading it out over a longer time period. Running is much more stressful on your body as you exert 3 times your body weight on your foot versus 1.5 when you walk. I prefer walking even though it takes longer because I don’t like running. I walk over 3 miles in an hour which is considered a brisk pace. A light weight training and ab exercise program in conjunction with a healthy diet and reduced intake will result in an average weight loss of 2 pounds a week.
I toned up with walking. And lost 40 pounds in about a year. But, you have to walk those 10,000 steps every day. And watch what you eat. But, you can still splurge on your favorite food every now and then.
For years I thought running meant more calories were being burning then discovered that only time really matters. I started walking for 1 hour. As I slowly lost weight I increased my walk time because when I weighed 200lbs I burned more calories walking for 1 hour than I do now at 160lbs.
If it was true what she says people would never ever lose weight in severe stress situations as exam period or new jobs, cause that’s when you have cortisol spikes. But many people actually do. Same goes for vacationif calories didn’t matter and only cortisol levels then everybody would lose weight on vacation. Is that truenot really…
A few people will have hormonal issues? 99% of overweight people are because of hormonal issues. Primarily insulin. Calories in vs calories out is complete shit. Calories in vs calories burned is mostly accurate. The body is not a closed Sysyem nor is it a bomb calorimeter. The body has the ability to store energy. Due to the hormone insulin. The more insulin resistant you are the more energy is stored before you have a chance to burn it. Can you overcome it with energy expenditure? Yes. But not on a 1 to 1 basis. This has been demonstrated repeatedly.
You can walk for a longer time than you can run sure you may burn more calories If you walk the same distance that you run but if you’re doing that then you are not motivated you should walk till your feet hurt if you are going to.
Absolutely agree on walking and tracking calories. I never got ripped until I started counting calories. Is it a burden? No way! I feel liberated. I know how many calories I can eat for my goals, so I am free to eat what I want of clean food and even control the rate I lose body fat. And after a while, you don’t have to count so much as you know about how many calories are in a given quantity of food. I also never take track calories burned during cardio. Don’t want to play the “eat my calories back” game. If I’m getting too lean, I up the calories a bit. If my abs start disappearing, I cut some calories. It’s not rocket science and it’s not hard. Subbed.
My father in law runs till now everyday. He is 70+yo. Literally everyday. He still has quite bad alzheimer.
I walk 10 km a day but alone if I walk with my girlfriend it can be 12 km oooo
Hi Paul, I have just started brisk walking to loss some weight around my belly. How far should I be walking? What speed should I be walking to get the best? The fastest I can walk is between 3 mph and 4 mph. I walk between 7 and 9 miles most days. Is this over doing it or is this just? Thanks
She’s right about the hormones balance thing. walking does lower androgens, but high intensity activities/running too much will cause hormone imbalance because the surrenal glands get overstimulated, and both adrenaline & androgens will get produced. bad thing if your a woman trying to loose weight, esp if you have pcos. thats why women can lose weight doing yoga regularly. women should do regular, long session (at least 1h ) of low impact/low intensity physical exercises.
Any physical activity is better than sitting on your ass. Walking maybe a good for people starting exercise regime, overweight or obese, or people with disabilities.
I started a weight loss walking diet. Im now doing 20k steps a day and ive lost 20 pounds in 7 weeks. Feeling brilliant.
That you very much this will be very useful for me I love the video!
So I started to walk 5 miles a day to loss weight I do early in the morning.
Cool I’m at just under 20 miles per week trying to run for a half marathon. Planning on scaling down afterwards but I just wanted to make cardio more interesting during the quarantine.
for me, i got results from both running and walking, but if you want to technical, swimming is the best exercise for the body.
Calories in vs Calories out isn’t debunked, but more an oversimplification of thermodynamics. Cortisol affects your insulin and you can not loose weight and will only gain weight if you have high insulin. IF you have high insulin, like in type 2 diabetes, then your body will turn energy in into fat and forget about growing hair, nails, healing that cut on your hand you have had the last 4 months if you don’t take in enough calories to fulfill your weight gain desires of insulin and your body’s desire to function normally otherwise. Intermittent fasting and Keto diets help lower insulin so your body can use calories for your natural body functions again instead of desperately trying to cram it all into fat and neglecting other body functions. My explanation is still oversimplification but hopefully explains enough with out writing an essay.
Let’s say you do a longer walk. Is it ok to incrementally run throughout the walk or does that defeat the purpose?
with walking, you can contract your muscles as you walk while keeping your core tight and walking targets fat more than running. running is mostly water weight you lose. that’s why bodybuilders walk on the treadmill or be on the stairmaster as oppose to running.
Their both better than doing nothing and you have to start somewhere walking can be the jumpstart to your fitness to build up muscles endurance and strength to start to do more like running. I’ve been putting in a lot of miles the past few days I’ve started walking and now doing both running and walking when I’m hurting I slow it down with a walk to prevent injuries but The thing is she said herself if you start to hit a plateau maybe put in more steps. You can get in steps faster with a run and have time for other things in your day than just getting in your steps. I do realize some people have jobs that keep them on their feet but not all of us. I’ve put in 27 miles yesterday and today and I want to keep this going after quarantine I think the only sustainable way is by running those miles
I started walking 3 times a week 5 miles a day. Now I walk 7 days a week for 1 1/2:hours a day. Love the benefits of walking calm mind energy and losing inches and less back pain. Totally addictive to a great easy exercise.
I walk everyday from my bedroom to washroom but all I’ve got is a transition from an okra like figure to a pumpkin figure
Wait the theory… of…
Does she mean the LAW of thermodynamics?
There is such a much better way to say what she wants to say.
I think that is a great coverage on cortisol, however, from what I learned, it’s is like this: There is absolute no necessity to maintain steady levels of cortisol in your body, quite the contrary. The ability to react on stressors with an increase followed by a decrease of certain hormones is a sign of a healthy, functioning hormone system.
Only very high levels of stress (trauma) or chronic stress without the following decrease of stress hormones is what is harmful to your body and will on the long term result in inflammation, weight gain, high cholesterol and cardiovascular disease.
Running, however, can be seen as a training for your stress system, the sudden increase in cortisol will most certainly be counteracted and result in relaxation and actually LESS stress for your body (“runners high”). This can counteract chronic stress and balance out the stress system.
So I have to disagree with your theory. (Not talking about excessive running here obviously, this can of course lead to burnout/adrenal fatigue).
Also I’m sorry for the lack of subject specific terms, English is not my native language)
I walk 1 hour every day,i lost 7 kilogram in 1 month!that’s great.
Ah maybe that’s why I’ve lost weight during quarantine I just randomly get up and walk around all over the place Soo ig thanks ADHD…kinda
I totally agree, long distance fast walking is better than running especially if you want to stay healthy with no side effects as you get older.
Definitely a game changer, I walked 22k steps per day during 4 months and lost 10 kg as I also showed on my channel. Epic way to work out. If you wanna see Hong Kong check it out ✌️
I don’t get the running adaptation thing.Guess what I’ve been walking since I was 1 year old and I continued the practice to this very day.I’m a pro walker.Does that mean I don’t burn calories walking anymore because I’m so well adjusted to walking?
Hello Paul, I currently do 5-6 days of strength training a week. For cardio, I only run twice-a-week using mainly intervals for cardiovascular fitness. My other forms of cardio I use are burpees, jumping rope, and walking. Do you think running twice-a-week is sufficient enough without having to worry about overdoing it?
What about walking to maintain weight and health, instead of trying to lose weight? Is it enough or do we need to step it up by running as we get older? I’m 42 and walk regularly and have never had a problem with my weight but I use to run more. I now have arthritis in my big toe and so don’t run much. I guess my question is walking adequate for maintaining an already weight?
Walking works for me! Running makes me gain weight,as it makes me starving hungry all day after..walking dosen’t do that! Even if i walk further!
Digital traker are good for steps, stairs and as a gps tracker.
Lol why are people so mad in the comment section? All that running maybe..
Being in my mid 50’s I finally found a lifestyle that worked for me and allowed me to have the waist size of my high school years (30″). I was borderline obese with significant health issues. Here goes:
Keto diet
Intermittent fasting (daily 18/6 and sometimes OMAD)
Prolonged fasting (once every 3 months)
Walking most days of the week (30 minutes plus)
Weight lifting 3x/week (5 major barbell movements)
My significant health issues are now resolved. I’m not perfect, I enjoy my daily cigar and I should sleep consistently at nights but I tend to be a night owl. Wishing you a long life and great health.
I walk to the Beer store daily 950 steps it’s not working. I guess I shouldn’t be drinking the beer.
Cheers
thanx i have now decided to walk to kfc every day rather then run
Dude I call bullshit. You are running…vs….walking. Like am I missing something?
Edit: I watched the whole thing, I just like to get cardio done in 30 to 45 mins. I love to run though so I guess I have to defend it.
I did running and Pilates for 2 years, then swapped the running for walking 10-13k steps a day. I still do Pilates. My overall body fat decreased and I gained muscle tone. Literally still baffled by this. I’m an endomorph, so maybe that’s why. ♀️
“energy in vs energy out has been debunked”
In a way I agree with her, and not because it is not true but because of how that that equation breaks down into all the various operations that are happening throughout the day.
Depending on the type of exercise you do, and the kind and amount of nutrition you consume your body requires a certain amount of energy. But will it take that energy from nutrition or storage? What storage, fat of proteins? What happens if it can’t get that energy? What happens when there is an abundance of energy?
Ideally you use a little bit of stored fat, but your body might also choose (and eventually it will choose) to just be more efficient with the energy at hand and lower your metabolism, requiring you to reduce your intake. Which not only reduces energy intake but also that of micronutrients. Which your body needs to run a whole host of processes. When those micronutrients are lacking your body will start shutting down the least essential processes. There’s a long list of hormones that regulate this balance.
Those hormones also come into play where exercise is concerned, because different ones “get busy” during different kinds of exercise. Explosive exercise such as weightlifting with short reps puts a different demand on your body in terms of how energy is made available then when you are running a marathon, or indeed jogging. Where the energy comes from therefor differs for different kinds of exercise.
And then there’s the different uses for nutrition to consider. Carbs are energy, but fat and especially proteins are also building blocks. How do you define the energy intake from eating a stake when maybe all of that stake is used for protein-muscle synthesis? The way we calculate calories does not take any of the above into account.
It’s not that energy in energy out is not a thing, but it is a highly inaccurate consideration. We simply can’t draw up a template that works for everyone.
Or maybe we can. Something I noticed about mealplans for a bulk and cut is that the amount of fat and proteins hardly varies throughout that period, while it are the carbs that are inor decreased. Which makes sense, carb rich food is mostly energy and don’t have a whole lot of bioavailable micronutrients (according to some schools of thought). It is the easiest kind of food to manipulate this energy equation with because varying that doesn’t upset the whole system the way inor decreasing fat and proteins would. It’s the most lineair factor in the equation.
So ones you’ve found a stable maintenance situation in which you’re healthy, you can start calculating but because that maintenance situation itself is different from person to person and lifestyle to lifestyle, I agree with this lady it is a very wonky ordeal. Too many things are as straightforward.
So ones you know that maintenance situation you can apply some numbers but we should realise what those numbers actually mean. It is just an expression for how we systematically overor undereat in order to inor decrease our metabolism in such a way our body doesn’t get upset. It isn’t really an energy equation because your maintenance number is a flat number derived through trial and error and being clever about your nutrition.
Because of my hobby and my job I do at least 20k steps. For excercise I jump rope 2k+ and some dumbbell activities every day. Also, I eat one Vegan meal a day. I believe my body looks a bit athletic.
I need to walk for my cortisol issues. Running puts my body i fight or flight mode and I will hold on to/ gain weight. Running could be the best for some people, but for others it may not work.
That’s the main importance of walking https://youtu.be/jFr81uoFOaU
why go to science class when you can just learn this from bright side?:D
i m confused do i have to run or walk or just sit and countinuing to eat chocolate?
Exactly hate running, like short sprints better even not suitable anymore for my knees being 40 yrs, started recently to track walking steps so now going for 10k steps daily as i always like to walk daily at least an hour a day. Thank you for your info.
Actually, the worst think you can do is think in terms of calories in calories out and especially that physical activity burn the food… it’s quite a victorian way of thinking and should not be considered valid anymore.
Yes! So good. Great video. I studied exercise science and only now am clicking onto this. Women shouldn’t run so much especially if the have PMS, cortisol is preferenced over making other hormones.
Am hypothyroid patient so running make me do tired and pain in joint
This makes me feel a lot better. I enjoy walking, but I always felt like it I “had to run” or I’m not doing enough. I injured my knees during a run, and now I avoid it. Good to know walking adds up
I feel like walking takes forever. Running makes time go by faster.
I walk a minimum of 7,000 steps everyday. I get up between 3 and 4 a.m. so I can get my steps in. I got a simple pedometer on Amazon that only counts my steps. I clip it on as soon as I get out of bed. I’m on my way to losing my goal of twenty pounds. I stretch and do that cat and camel exercise to keep my back strong (put your hands and knees on the floor and stretch up and down). I space my walking throughout the day. I may do 5,000 steps on my first walk and then do the rest (up to 10,000 or more) at intervals between tasks. Finally, if the weather is bad, I walk indoors with the Leslie Sansone walking program or dance with Misty Tripoli. I love listening to inspirational messages first thing in the morning. After that, I listen to the birds chirping as they wake. I love watching the beautiful sunrise. How can I be depressed when I hear and see the beauty of God’s creation. I am so grateful.
Running is good, BUT it has too many prerequisites to fulfill before you can enjoy the benefits e.g. proper running form, soft surface to run on instead of concrete sidewalks, nice pair of running shoes and a physically fit body to begin with.
Most people who “want” to run are either too sedentary in their life for a long time or overweight. Add in the facts that a decent pair of running shoes does not come cheap and proper running form is not something most people can grasp in a short amount of time, you can see why walking is not a bad alternative.
Of course, you can always bike or swim and still get the same benefits as running but your knees will love you.
Walking helped me lose weight. Running helped me get injured and not want to exercise.
8:43 2-3 MPH??? My pet rock walks faster than that! How about 3.5 to 4?
what if you enjoy moderate cardio workouts? will it prevent weight loss?
thank you for the videos! much, much appreciated.
I walked 5km or more and ate healthy for 8 days straight and lost f*cking 3kg (6lbs)
I work on my feet so I away get 15000 to 20000 or more a day. It sound like I great idea I just dont know if I want to walk more then at
I power walk 4-5 miles a day in 2 sessions. I listen to Pandora Pitbull station or disco and dance as I walk.
I eat 1200 calories or less with high protein low carb and 3 low calories snacks in between. I write everything down on my Fitbit app, drink over 60 oz of water and lost 47 lbs in 7 months. No soda no sugar(well very little) and gluten free crackers or triscuits. I don’t feel deprived. I feel energized in the morning but by 9pm I’m ready to crash
Short bursts of sprinting, then walking is better than long distance running.
How often do you see a runner with a smile on their face? Yep, stick to walking at a vigorous pace including some hill walking.
My doctor told me exactly this! She said walking is the best and she recommended (for me) that walking was all she wanted me to do while I was trying to lose weight….I’m not obese, just about 20 pounds to lose, but she said walking was all I needed. (And diet changes)
She has a master’s degree in bloviating too and shouldn’t pedal ideas like the laws of thermodynamics are out the window. If walking is more consistent for you and you can stick to it good for you. But no, in no universe do you burn more calories walking than running.
I would prefer to talk about it in minutes and not in steps. I don’t count my steps but I can count how long I do it.
Yes your body adapts to the running and you burn less calories as you are becoming more efficient. But its the same with walking, so whats the point? Walking is better than running for weight loss? Timewise, absolutely NOT, walking 1 hrs burns less energy than 1 hrs of running/jogging. Distance-wise its the same. For ppl not doing ANY sports walking is the best way to get into activities for sure. After a time it gets so boring that they will run anyways.
January 1st, 2020 I started watching what I eat and started walking. It’s mid July 2020 and so far I’ve lost 81 pounds. I have cervical stenosis and need something that’s low impact. I walk a 5k every morning.
I would argue that her having a MSc in nutrition is very much worth mentioning. It gives some indication that she has done extensive research on nutrition and is somewhat qualified to make certain statements.
Do people still have to be critical? Sure, always. But it tells me she hadn’t just read a facebook post last week and that’s what she’s basing all her claims on.
6 Pack Abs in 30 days! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sJaMlhoCPg
Literally just discovered you today, subscribe, and I am then watching your videos very informative scientific and I think it can help me thanks
Tf is dis…you couldn’t find someone in better shape that actually looks like they work out instead of this really skinny chick that cant even do a proper push up
Hey guys, what´s your favorite exercise? Mine plank. Planking is power:-)
I like the way he explains it. Not condemning any form of the fat loss processes.
My gym has been closed due to the pandemic.
So, I built up to walking 48 miles per week (6-8 miles per day).
Hi, great video. Ive been walking almost everyday. I also have a physical limitation(femoral nerve/muscle weakness) so I can’t walk for long, jump, run, etc. It’s been frustrating because I’m trying to lose a lot of weight.
I just started fitness walking at the end of May, 2020…my average walking distance for June, 2020 is 10.9 miles per day…I’m like 275-Lbs, 6’1” tall…
As a obese person I tried running first. The first 3 runs were ok, but during the 4th one my shins started to hurt really bad, I couldnt run the next day so I rested for a week. After a week I tought to myself that my shins have to be completely rengenarated by now, so when I go for a run again they will be used to it and will no longer hurt, but I was wrong, I couldnt run a mile it was extremely painful and the pain just couldnt go away so I walked back home and that was my last run since. Next couple months I completely lost any motivation to exercise again not only because of my failed running experiment, but also because I was finising high school and I had stressful exams at the end (In czech republic we have maturity exams at the end of highschool which means If you fail you can’t go to university and you basically didnt finished the high school and you have to do it all the exams all over again.) Finally I passed the exams and all the stress and pressure to make them went away. So I started getting motivated again but this time instead I picked walking. Best decision ever I go for a 1 hour walks 3 or 2 times a day depends on the mood. I realize its important to do something that you enjoy and your not forcing yourself to do. That way you will stick to it and you will not easily quit.
I think there is an important distinction between a dietitian and a nutritionist.
Proofreading and correct spelling would increase credibility.
I walk daily 5.6 km….my mind I’ll b gud always..active everyday
I walk everyday for a half hour each day and my body is in great shape.I am 64 and I have no illness at all.try it you will love it.
Love to walk every morning and it really makes me healthy and happy
I walk 9km a day but feel tired throughout the day.still walking for weight loss
Idk any runners w/ big belly, but I’d rather walk over running so she’s telling me what i want to hear.
my father walked everyday of his life, and i mean he walked everywhere…but…he still had alzheimers… so i am baffled how they come to these results.
I have glaucoma and it does help a bit. However I have had it for 20 years and I have to get new glasses every year because I’m losing my vision slowly. Walking postpones it a bit longer.
Walking is a lot healthier than running. Less strain on the joints. I love walking. On my days off work I’d go out for an hour at the local park.
You’re very lucky if you have TREADMILL in your House:)) cause now a days you cant walk outside because of pandemic:3
I recently complete this unique diet plan “Kοnοnοz yyd” (Google it) which was uncomplicated to adhere to. I exercise every day and then attempt to go along with diet, but I had been trapped with my weights. After 3 weeks of using this manual, I eliminated Ten pounds of the weight. I believe energetic without having a problem on controlling my very own desires for foods. It really feels excellent!
I love to go walking every evening. it helps my mood, get toned and it sometimes pays because I find change on the ground lol!!
Heard the opening minute, saw the number of ‘likes’ and had to read the comments to check I wasn’t going mad… OK, phew. I thought it was just me! Energy in vs energy out has been debunked??? W T actual F. ♂️ I went to check her credentials…. She titles herself a ‘clinical nutritionist’ lol. ANYONE can go around calling themselves a ‘nutritionist’ it means absolutely fuck all. If you want nutritional advice, form someone with actual qualifications, go to a dietitiion! WTF is wrong with people buying this shit? The internet is full of “experts” like this, spreading absolute bona fide BS. The sad part is there are people out there who are slowly killing themselves with their diet, who need sound advice who are coming to channels like this.
Do those walkout videos count as walking, you know the ones where you’re walking in place and varying arm and leg movements.
You say it not about calories In and calories outyour example is that you loose less weight on starvetion mode because your BMR goes down… your augment makes no sense, if your BMR goes down then your calories out go then and as such validates the calories in and out theory. the question is wether you decrease your “calories in” by more than the decrease in “calories out”. furthermore starvation more has greater impact on NEAT than BMR….
Totally nailed me. I have an imbalance somewhere. I workout like a madman..limited results so I cut down eating while increasing workout intensity.
Now in the meantime I’m hungry all the time but afraid to eat. I also feel that if I do eat something, I’m gaining weight. It’s exhausting.
The points she made were completely valid. While losing weight walking may require more time, effort and dedication, it’s clearly more effective.
I started running everyday for a month and my belly fat is getting bigger…I didn’t understand why until now…
This video make sense now I need to start walking so the cortisol hormone get lower
Thank u very much

My grandpa walks 8 km everyday in morning and he is way too fit
Headphones and ideally a natural environment, do it, do it, do it, do it people!
I have been walking for over 30 years and now I finally have a Jeep
Male 5 ft 8 lost 10 lbs (180 to 170) doing 10k steps for like 8 weeks, def increase your steps to reap more benefits
your only “opinion” is that she should have mentioned nutrition first but that wasn’t her point. she meant considering if every other thing is fixed, then walking is better than running. you’re just like a baby that looks for something to complain about instead of seeing the big picture. no point in creating this video. ” my opinion”
If you watch more of her videos she does talk about nutrition as well in ways that hormones/ insulin affect weight gain. I think walking is better than running because cortisol is a hormone that affect weight gain the abdominal area
How do you relate walking vs. Jogging? Which one is better for people under 40?
We had a walking competition last year and those who were wearing fit bits had about 20% or more steps than those that used their phones to track steps for the same amount of time spent. Wearable don’t have a way to distinguish scratching your head vs walking
I love walking, guys! I walk 5 to 8 km (3 to 5 miles) a day. What about you?
Btw, this habit is also extremely good for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmORMKTHuOs&
Please talk faster so I am more annoyed and can’t understand anything you are saying, I love wasting my time theses days.
I tore my meniscus due to running everyday. So i completely stopped running in fear of making the tear even worse.
Now i do 5kms speed walking every alternate day, and weight training the other alternate day(except leg day since my meniscus is torn already).
Is my workout plan okay Sir???
Is it totally safe if I walk 12 to 15 km continuously at a same time means in one inning
I am beginner
I don’t have any disease but i m facing long breathing sometimes after comtinous walk of 12 to 15 km(2.5 hours)
I walk daily for 1.30 hours or sometimes 2 hours per day (equal to 12000 15000 steps per day or 7 to 12 kms per day). From 3rd March 2020 to 1st June 2020, I have reduced my weight by 11.5 kg. In February 2020 I was 89.5, now I am 78.
Wonder how you do 10000 steps if you do 8 hours work a day? Do you do any work at all?
maybe they should of gotten someone has been working out. some of these are not done right…
Im already skinny but I walk to gain.. nothing. I can’t seem to see any physical growth of my leg muscles at all. But one thing that surely help and that is getting rid of boredom
Who Else just dropped to the ground a said stuff this ima go Watch Netflix
I’ve been the same weight for 4 days even though I’ve been walking. Still trying to lose. But I’m not giving up this time.
I walk one hour and 15 minutes every day “moderate pace” I guess its not enough steps to get to 100 minutes. I will add another 30 minutes next walk.
Why tf did i feel like i was watchin a ryans toy review vid???
Who is that doctor talking in the side at 1:38, 1:59, 3:03, 3:55, 4:39, 6:51, 8:11, 9:19 in the video?
As someone who has tried a running regimen a million times, I can tell you, that for ME, walking solves a lot of problems. Consistency increases when the activity is doable. I can walk 5 miles each day which takes me an hour and a half. But for me to run 2 miles each day seems so daunting.
If you all are walking please walk enough or at an incline if you want the calorie burn to be high
What I never got was even if you have hormonal problems or something in that way, shouldn’t calories in and calories out still matter?
I mean just because my hormones are lets say out of balance I (like coach greg would say) don’t change the law of thermodynamics right?
My body can’t just make fat out of air as far as I understand it
But I dicovered walking for me, I mean I hate running, but its just so nice to listen to an audiobook and just walk through the local vineyards or up the hills and mountains
Wow. People are really mean in this comment section. What happened to just politely disagreeing with someone. It’s ok to disagree but asshole about it isn’t.
It’s kind of sad to see all the mean reactions here. Autumn, I like your science backed information! So here is a positive comment to balance it out a bit. I can imagine that being on social media and sharing videos on youtube can be stressful because of all the hate comments like the ones here. I’ve been walking 6-7 km daily for about a month and a half now and I can truly see the benefits of it, so thanks!
I have increased my walking from four miles per day to five. I’ve also eliminated sugar and creamer in my coffee as well as a cutback on evening desert. I want to reduce from 205 pounds to 195.
My OCD is over the bar watching this video first of all plz do pushups wrong
I have an injury so I guess I’ll try the walking I’m shooting for 10k steps every day hope that’s enough to get this stubborn fat off
The science of walking is a video about the hidden science of walking. It deals with the impact of walking and lack of walking on the mind and the body through the citation of a scientific and philosophical literature: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVcD_0okJ6k
The calories in vs calories out “theory” has been debunked? Damn, I never knew we could break the 1st law of thermodynamics.
I just dropped 40 lbs walking 5-10 miles per day 1.7 at a time. I was 227 and beefy but smooth. The walking was a test and injury recovery along with a new keto diet and binge days over the last three months. I used to run, swim, bike and workout hard sometimes all in the same day. I’m fascinated by my progress walking and I don’t starve. I had to seriously start eating more just to slow down the weight loss.
Man this is so true i am busy with fasting day 8 now ive started walking 10000 to 15000 steps this last couple of days in 8 days i went from 119 kilous to 115.7 i use to run alot and nothing so yeah thanks for advise
pretty sure the editing took longer than the walking……. horrible. But yes if you are overweight or zero condition, walking is better than running for weight los. Running is better for condition building if your body can take it.
I stopped running long distances because it got my adreneline too pumped and it stated effecting my sleep and appetite.
That was a bad idea to speak while you were walking. I couldn’t concentrate and understand you.
The Democrats won’t open up the tracks because they’re racists:They don’t want young Hispanic-Americans playing soccer on the fields inside of the tracks.
Running is difficult that’s why people hate on it.
What your saying is beneficial if you have 1-2 hours to walk everyday and want to be constantly hungry. For me, running is the best way way to get shredded and still enable me to eat a decent amount of food during the day.
You should collab with Jeff Cavalier from AthleanX you guys would produce the healthiest, strongest, fittest, happiest people. Not like reproduce…just like….make
I did 24k steps today since I started my walking journey almost a month now been feeling great
All lazy people clicked it straight away when they saw the title
Walking has been the best exercise for me. It’s leaned out my legs and I’ve lost 13lbs so far
I can’t stop watching your videos. You’re so knowledgeable. I feel like I can really trust your expertise.
I prefer the elliptical. I feel like a hampster on the treadmill.
Walking definitely works better for me, finally getting results. Running just makes me overly tired and hungry and works against hormonal balance for me
Running is intense and somewhat anaerobic, therefore more sugar burn. this leads to more huger, lower blood sugar. Moderate walking is primarily fat burning, therefore less impact on blood sugar and hunger. Its simple.
So true. I just started doing this. I also fast because my appetite isn’t the best anyways. Fasted cardio most of the day because I’m a security guard and walk all over. Then I eat later in my shift. Super hydrated throughout the day. Crazy. Idk how much I weigh because I haven’t kept track. However my booty looking better and my calves. Like damn!
She wasn’t saying that cortisol level causes belly fat. She was saying when your cortisol levels are raised, that your body doesn’t use fat for energy. It switches to glucose or glycogen for energy.
Watches this video during quarantine:
Started walking in circles around my room…
Good information! I just got a generic Fitbit from Amazon on June 1st I got about 6700 step that day and then from June 2nd on I got about 20,000 steps but I felt like that was unrealistic it’s only because I’m home more now and a lot of times I am getting my walking done I’ll walk for 2 hours and get all of my steps in where I might walk around my house pacing so this was good
That’s the main importance of walking https://youtu.be/jFr81uoFOaU
During the Clovid lock down I am walking about 2 miles+ per day (5/6 days a week) @ 17min per mile. I am much happier walking than running. Way less impact on my knees and lower back. As you get to 30 y/o Plus walking is KEY
After my two hip replacement surgeries, both my orthopedic surgeon & my chiropractor told me to walk. I started one month ago, one hour, every morning. I also started doing a lot of stretching for my hips, pelvis & lower back to start correcting bio mechanical problems I developed when I was disabled, which cause me chronic sciatic nerve & lumbar spine pain. I went on the ketogenic diet plan as well. I’ve done that diet before & do quite well on it. So far I’ve lost ten pounds & have made significant improvements with mobility & chronic pain management. I’m aiming to lose at least 40 LBs & correct my bio mechanical problems enough to be able to go back to the gym when this COVID business is over with. I had to stop training when my hips went to hell in a hand-basket from avascular necrosis. A severely restricted blood supply to the joint that kills the hip joint head so it collapses. Then you can’t move the joint without severe, debilitating pain. Same damn thing happened to my brother. So I guess it’s hereditary. Surgeon said it was.
I like your message…. but I’m telling you, don’t slow-roll it, distribute the knowledge right away, when you’re not quick enough, people will check out.
I’m 30 and I’ve been walking for 1hr from work to home because of quarantine it was very tiring and my legs are soaring too much I can’t take any more steps but those are just the first 3 days. It went better and better everyday. Been doing it for a month now 5 days a week and I feel better, happier, healthier and slimmer. Happy walking everyone
I want to lose weight and I don’t like work out at all so iam just walking I don’t it will help me or not but I really need to lose weight because of my wieght iam going into a very sad life iam always crying
Whatever you’re more likely to do is what’s better. People are more likely to walk so that’s a great option, but running definitely makes weight loss happen faster. That’s what I’ve always told people, is to do something you’ll always want to do. I’m walking now because I love to run and want to get back in marathon shape.
Yeah I love walking and I’m working away in Norway so nothing better than a 6-10mile hike/walk every day did a 12mile walk yesterday average speed of 4-5mph so not to bad for a big guy
Hi There! I started waking in March with 5000 steps. Within few weeks I was at ten thousand then couple of weeks 15 thousand all the way to 33,000. On average I walk 20 to25,000 steps throughout the day every day. I haven’t lost any weight. I can’t figure out why I am not losing weight. Please advise. I can use any help I can get. Thanks
Stop talking in steps for a start Talk in miles or time….
Was a hard core runner for years. Yes I was smaller, but my knees can’t do it. Plus a knee injury too. I’ve recently started walking, less stress on my knees. Hopefully some extra lbs. will come off.
i actually love running but the pain in my ankles, shins and knees are starting to get unbearable
I guess what you do consistently and enjoy is better than just sitting around. But personally for me I prefer walking because running stops my breathing lol.
I searched this up because I’m young and my mom won’t let me diet…
I started running less as I gained 6 pounds last month. I was running 30 minutes at 13.6kph and walking 6000 -10000 steps I ate 1800 calories daily. Im now at a weight that negatively effects my health but am half a pound down from the last two weeks but my routine is punishing 10000 steps. I get migraines and call it with withdrawal. I’m lonely and jealous of everyone can eat and maintain their weight week on week. Ive something wrong in my health abnormal cells and appointment was cancelled over covid 19. I drink often but factor in the calories how much would that affect weight. I’ll know soon hopefully covid 19 delayed proceedings I complained and was told I’ll be looked in two weeks. I feel my weight drastically increased the risk but seeing that kind of weight gain over the last month makes me despair.
Hello I need your advice I suffer a lot from anxiety which is better for me longer walk or jogging?
Hi Paul. My wife started her diet a month ago and her weight loss is very slow. She eats two meals a day (no snacking in between) and we feel strongly she is in a deficit. I have her doing a full body workout 4 days per week (she has never lifted weights before and slowly introducing training) and she also does a half hour of moderate spin biking each day. If you can offer your opinion, do you think if she swaps the spinning for walking a few miles per day this would helps speed up the process? I’m wondering if the spinning can do more harm than good? She is overweight and on birth control. I’m guessing hormones could be messing her plan up a bit because of the pills and the wrong cardio? What are your thoughts? Thanks
Why would you make an entire video on something you don’t actually understand?? “What she believes”…no…. That’s science and chemistry
Your ‘i think… I think…’ just because you don’t LIKE it… Is rather unreasonable. You are adding more confusion for people who simply want to lose weight. Many years of this…. People don’t have good information! Keep your bro-science to yourself
I walk 40k steps per day from last 2 months…during lockdown nd I loose 12kgs of weight
trackers aren’t accurate but it’s great to be consistently inconsistent
I do all my walking in the morning. 1-2 hours everyday. I do the rebounder several times a day when I am at home. I’m retired. I do ad a little running during my walk when I feel like it.
Hey there! I was a big “Calories in Calories out” advocate myselfe till a week ago… I found Dr. Jason Fung on Youtube, who explains very nicely the effect Insuline has on the body (which I hardly knew anything about)
I still belive that you need to reduce Calories in order to lose weight, but I now think, having longer breaks between meals is more important than I thought it is!
I highly recommend Dr. Fungs Videos, they helped me a lot!
the plank exercise is wrong you can not have lower arch back
We have walked and hiked for years and we have encourage everyone to do it for 32 years.
Eat low calorie dense foods and started walking, i started 55 days ago, 7 kgs/15.4 lbs lost. Went from 8k to around15k steps. Some days i do a bodyweight workout or rope skipping if i feel like it. Eat low calorie dense foods that you can eat everyday, find the foods that you can eat the rest of your life
How do I get passionate about exercise? I’m a real couch potato, I’ve never been keen on going to the gym or even go for a walk. This has led to an unhealthy diet and 20 kgs overweight… I’ve started a low carb diet but how do I become a lover of walking and exercise?
i am really inspired as I am locked down in the country side. Lots of fields here. i am gonna track my steps and challenge myself. Maybe i can do it a few times a day
I walk dogs part time as a side gig and average 50 miles per week. It makes staying lean even easier burning 100+ cals per mile. It is also a great addition to the actual strength/cardio workouts that I do because it is restorative and elevates mood/relieves stress.
But if I suddenly started running 50 miles every week, my body would slowly break down on me overtime and I’d wind up with a variety of joint issues.
Oh yah. Took it to corporations. Do we really have to save people from their stupidity?
I chose walking as my sport when I was a teenager. Easy, fun and invigorating. Later, I added dogs to my life. They’re thé best walking companions. We walk usually 4 hours a day: One hour, morning, then 1/2 hour before lunch, then 2 hours afternoon, then 1/2 hour before bed. That Works for us! But it’s Never helped me lose weight.
Im a serious walker myself, here’s a great tip 4 those days ur feeling sluggish…terpentine on your butt…u will surprise yourself…
So in her reasoning on mistake #2..So if someone is inactive in some period of your day.. your body is in inflammation mode? Yeah, NO, I’m not buying into that. So you’re basically calling sleep, inflammation. Lol
It is impossible to lose fast without proper diet! What if ur doing this thing though, but u still eat a lot. U think it works?
How about Jogging which is better walking or easy jogging?
2-3 times a week workout
1Push ups, 10 reps
2Burpees, 10 reps
3Mountain climbers, 8 reps
4Crunches, 10 reps
5Sumo squadsts, 10 reps
6Sprinter sit-ups, 8 reps
7Bicycle crashes, 15 reps
8Forearm plank, 30 sec
aw shoot Autumn. I was really starting to like you. You may prefer walking and it may be more accessible to more people, but saying its better than running? ummmmmm gonna go for my run now bai
So I hope that you see this. You have changed me for the better. I use to run. But I always plateaued and quit. I would go through cycles for years running then quitting. Now I walk. And intermittent fast and I have lost 9 pounds of stubborn body fat. I can see that my muscle tone is still there. My waist is getting so small. Thank you. I’m about to make you coconut milk right now for my smoothie when I break my fast. Thank you soo much for all that you do. You are incredible.
( 3:57): “I found a study that the University of Stanford did.”….Um, do you mean Stanford University??
thanks for your help. I lose weight following this guide: the2weekdietnow. com (G00GLE it)
you have to download the guide.
Autumn’s profesional opinion about “walking being better than running for fat/weight loss” is scientifically sound. She is also right about “the calories in, calories out” paradigm; it is debunked. See Dr. Jason Fung’s videos on YouTube. Example, if you eat 200 calories of cookies or junk versus avocado, the former will trigger insulin, the fat storage hormone, and hunger hormone, Ghrelin. Avocados, in contrast, will not. The upshot is that the key to weight loss is hormones which is impacted by dieting and fasting, more so than exercise.
Second, excessive running triggers cortisol which raises insulin, the fat storage hormone. Walking has the opposite effect; it lowers cortisol. Hence, why walking is better. Case closed.
When I was 100 pounds heavier, I started walking….then running.
After a while, running became a game of diminishing returns.
I decided to walk on the treadmill with an incline and carry weights.
I walked at 2.5 mph with 25 pound weights in each hand for ten minutes.
My heart felt like it was going to explode after six minutes.
I started running again about a week ago and I am already feeling like I will plateau soon. Today I will walk and carry my kettlebell with me and see what happens.
A farmer’s walk has to be more beneficial than just walking due to added load/resistance.
LOL. She claims at 3:30 that basically the laws of thermodynamics have been debunked.
And a “nutritionist” isn’t a job and anyone can call themselves that. The actual job with a professional license is a dietician.
I lost more weight walking then running because walking I can do for hours but running I do for half hour and then eat a huge meal.
Running for 20 minutes gets me out off a lazy mindset and motivates me to keep working out. I run and then I get excited to do weights and ab exercises. It also forces me out of my comfort zone of being a couch potato. Just do what makes you happy and what you can do consistently. I also love to just walk for a few miles and listen to music. Just don’t ever stop moving and don’t take your health for granted.
I don’t believe you loose more calories walking than running. But I do think walking is more sustainable and practical for me. I prefer walking. And my cardio is HIIT.
I’m confused. Never seen an fat “runner”. I get hormones and cortisol but isn’t exercise good for stress management not bad?
I prefer walking over running for many other reasons but I think it depends on so many factors. Fitness level, age, weight, goals and pre existing medical conditions…
Ultimately do what works for you but sometimes it takes years to find out what that is.
To me, any health snacks that needs to be unwrapped in a cool looking package is just candy. Far as running is concerned, due to previous injuries from the military I don’t running very often. I do lots of walking and low impact cardio. I get 15k to 20k steps a day without running.
You may have some valid arguments here, but, putting her clip with that high pitched voice? Why? She has good points too backed by research and experiences from her and others. You can be entertaining without being disrespectful. I stopped watching as soon as you put the video of her with the high pitch voice. Not only was it disrespectful, it was lame. I do not understand why people find that voice funny. Is this video directed to little kids or adults? Maybe if you were more honest from the beginning, instead of saying that youre not trying to hate on anyone, I wouldve kept watching just out of curiosity, but the fakeness and hypocrisy made it even more annoying to watch. You were obviously trying to ridicule her and saying that you weren’t. Choose one or the other, even if you choose to ridicule her, you will be more successful if youre just honest and upfront about it instead of doing that shit youre trying to do right now.
Surely she is right in that not all calories are equal. 50 calories of something fatty/sugary isn’t going to be the same as 50 calories of broccoli. That’s how I took it she meant. Walking is what we’ve been doing throughout our time on earth, the more the better I say. Enjoy your running too. Do what feels good and sustainable for you.
I think you should document yourself more. And she is not demonizing running, she is just explaining the difference. Calories in-out are an aspect of a whole journey, and that is what she talks about on her channel.
I love Bright Side, very inspiring. However, I really do not like watching the talking head.
I am 40yrs old and athletes from the age 10…and i saiy the most important thing is the consistent
i walk for 3 km a day and i feel fit when i do this daily.if i miss in someday,i feel exhausted.
I started walking everyday 3 miles and up to 5 miles in 3 months lost 53 pounds
The thing is.. I find walking so painfully boring and not challenging enough. If I walk briskly for an hour, at my weight, I burn about 250 calories which is so measly. That’s pretty long and boring to only burn 250 cals. Doesn’t exactly feel like a great hour workout. Whereas when I go running, I put my headphones in and feel like I’m in another world. First of all, it’s so much more challenging and fun. I check my watch and compete with myself for PR’s and I always feel so badass doing it . I run between 3-6 miles which takes 25 minutes to 1 hour and I burn 330-660 calories doing it. Way better calorie burn and so much more fun. I get that walking is a good start for beginners, elderly and overweight individuals, but if you can do more, why not?
Having pronation in my right foot I have to say running for long periods of time especially with the wrong shoes can start hurting your foot, knees etc if you have a discorder. And no, you don’t have to be obese for that.
I walk every evening outside for 5 to 6 km and complete 10,000 which takes about 1 hour to complete… i absolutely enjoy it, and its made a big difference to my health
I lost 30 lbs in 3 months by walking a mile or so a day. I didn’t watch my diet or anything
Walking is great. So is eliminating sugars and processed foods. And intermittent fasting. These three and you will be so much better health-mental and physical.
Walking is better that running, just because almost everyone could walk (at least 15-30 minutes), but I can’t imagine morbidly obese person running for more that 1 minute. But the best activity for weight loss is resistance workout, because it preserves (or even increase) fat free mass and preserves resting metabolic rate on caloric deficit.
Which is the best time for walking.. morning or evening….
After meal or before meal….
I started walking 3 years ago and yoga 2 years ago. I have lost a total of 50 pounds so far. I walk a minimum of 4 miles a day. I listen to my body. Depending how I feel, determine the distance and the time I spend walking.
Actually pretty sure walking isn’t helping you lose weight cause it doesn’t burn many damn calories. Not sure why YouTube even thought I’d want to listen to this.
I know you are very smart but you stay on one point for too long.
Wow no surprise we evolved to walk for hours to hunt for food barefoot
Just saw this video and have to say I’m disappointed. Credentials that someone has earned shouldn’t be easily dismissed would you dismiss what your dental hygienist has to say about your dental care because she used her degrees to back up her claims and show that she probably knows what she’s talking about… no because that wouldn’t make sense. This whole fascination with dismissing people that are knowledgeable and educated in their field in favor of people that are not needs to stop. We have too many problems right now thanks to this exact mentality.
When I do these exercises in night before the dinner or after the dinner
Honestly, how many people do you know that are overweight and runs over 20 miles a week?
For 3 weeks now I’ve been walking at least 10000 steps a day. This is at least an hour and a half every day. I am waiting to see the results.
Starting off doing female pushups or less u must go all the way down
So I’m not trying to be negative on you but I think you should watch more of her videos and I disagree that the reason we gain when we run a lot is because we pig out after a run.. I walked a few miles and I saw the calories burned and I didn’t get all excited and eat ice cream. I had some fruit and rehydrate myself. Plus if you are active you need to eat more anyhow. And to that it isnt really how many calories you’re eating
It’s what youre eating
I was omnivore went vegan, no change in food quantity. Maybe had less calories by the nature of the lifestyle but I certainly wasn’t starving and the pounds fell off like magic.
Just sharing experience. I have no idea what you did to lose weight. I just saw this because I had originally watched autumns video
I listened to this video and implemented everything yo said and lost weight by walking. Thank you. Watch this: https://youtu.be/lnXBxHqWe_k
I think ObesetoBeast is looking at this video from his own point of view and thus kind of missing the point. The point of the video was to introduce the effect of cortisol on weight loss, and why that may mean you should switch some (not all) of your running to walking *if you are running a lot and not losing fat*. Also, she is literally referencing studies that support her argument, this is in no way made up by her. The video is offering advice for a specific group of people, eg regular runners, with a specific issue. Judging it based on it not addressing other groups and other issues (eg diet) misses the point. I’m sure she has made videos about diet too, but this one was literally just advice about running…
“I’m an educated nutritionist” and “Energy balance is wrong”…. lol
Thank very much for this information I am looking this information for long time
The best way to loose fat is dieting and not physical exercise
Man she is so hot… I don’t have Problems with my weight, but i like walking too. 5000 steps and i feel like in heaven
Thank you so much for saying that walking is good and is good for weight loss. Yay! Will be following.
I agree with what you say but can someone please tell me which is the best walking or running for fat loss.
I walk a lot at work I mean lot being security officer is great.
I would love to watch this video. Advice to Autumn Bates. For goodness sake SLOW DOWN YOUR SPEECH. Speak slowly and clearly. People from all over the world are watching you. W AH KING what do you mean. W O R KING is this word. and you race your words to make them SO UN CLEAR. Please please please listen to this advice. You have a good subject here and I will return and listen to you BUT WITH SO MUCH DIFFICULTY. Remember IN THE FUTURE TO SLOW DOWN.and move your mouth and speak CLEARLY
” Cortisol and Weight Loss: Studies show that consistent exercise lowers circulating blood cortisol levels. Remember, cortisol is released in response to stress. By engaging in acute stress, such as high intensity workouts, you build up your body’s tolerance to stress and thereby decrease its release of cortisol in response to daily stressors, like that train delay. “
your non running argument is bullshit
so walking 10k steps a day is equal or greater than a full workout at a gym, plus you can do this everyday, you just sold me on walking DOC, thanks
Here’s some info from a REAL Doctor and Olympic Athlete. https://youtu.be/GoQ_Qt2REgQ
I’m only 29 years old and 210lbs, 6ft 2”… after walking a few miles each day I get a burning sensation in my hips… should I rest the day after a few mile walk? Or plod on and continue doing 3+ miles the day after?
I started walking 10km every day 2 months ago…..I’m 360 miles away from house now.
It’s interesting. Something to think about. However, I do have to say that running specifically is the #1 thing that lowers my high anxiety levels. So for me personally, this would contradict the cortisol level theory or maybe it’s a fact. I wonder if it’s different for people.
I found another useful video # WALK # LOOSE WEIGHT # BE HEALTHY
https://youtu.be/eQUWeg6BqY0
Scientifically calories in/calories out isn’t the truth. The amount of exercise you’d need to do is insane just to burn the amount of calories we eat. You go to the gym for an hour and burn 200 calories yet you’ve eaten 2000 calories. Instead, thinking of what you eat and portion control can set weight loss into motion.
CLICK BAIT this was. A very misleading photo (progressively toned body muscles) in video preview. This photo never came up in the actual video.
Okay, so I went and I watched her video, and honestly, everything she said made sense outside of that sentence. Also, if you listen to her closely, she talks about the mathematics of weight loss and why “if this isn’t adding up…” and she goes on to give some very solid advice, which is basically only running the way that people who run more than an hour a day do, and I have met freaks like that. I don’t get how they do it.
So I don’t think she doesn’t believe in “calories in, calories out” I think she just said that really poorly with “is debunked.” She could have said what she really went on to talk about, which is how other things also have an impact on our metabolism and where we store fat. It’s solid all advice, that sentence is just so very wrong and strong, it makes one stop giving her any room. And I don’t even think she’s saying what she means, because again, she goes on to talk about “the math” later. And it’s basically like, “it’s imperfect. It doesn’t always add up, and some things happen that seem impossible because of X,Y,Z.”
Turned people off of a very good video with one sentence.
Walk with weights in your bag fantastic cardio, muscle builder and calorie burn.
You can only burn slightly over 300 kcals walking for an hour. It takes a lot of walking to burn any significant amount of calories.
Running at a moderate pace burns over 800 kcals per hour.
So, if the point is to burn more calories, it’s much quicker running than walking. If you use walking you’ll need to either spend a lot more time exercising or eat a lot less.
The only way people gain weight running is if they eat a lot more calories. It’s common sense that if you eat back the calories, you are not going to lose weight, but that’s true for any activity.
Look at anyone who runs long distance. They generally can’t eat enough to keep fat on. The only people gaining weight running are the ones who begin training and think because they ran half an hour they can eat two extra donuts. That thinking makes it impossible to lose weight under any circumstances.
I prefer walking. I was a track and field runner for years. As soon as I stopped (in college), it was difficult. I was gaining weight if I did not do the same level of intensity. I ate healthy, tracked calories, did keto and all… unless I ran I did not lose weight:/. I took a break from exercise for 6+ months and now Im walking. They’re both good with the same level of consistency.
so I am trying to walk three to four miles in the morning now and then two to four miles at night. When school was in, with walking I was trying for 20 k steps a day
Then I went back to canning my salads and prepping my lunches and dinners. Then I brought more rice in
5 Month Weight Loss 2020
—Feb. 24th July 24th—
Starting Weight 252 lbs
Steps 3,657,697
Miles 1,785.7
Current Weight 192.5 lbs
My diet was roughly comprised of 2,000 calories per day and I used Intermittent Fasting with a 16/8 window. I did not eliminate ANY foods or food groups entirely, however, I consumed zero liquid calories… I even had pizza, ribs, Chinese-takeout, cookies, ice cream, and key lime pie during the past 5 months. I lost 59.5 lbs in 152 days… that’s an average of 0.39 lbs per day. This means I maintained an average caloric deficit of 1370kcal per day. This is consistent with my BMR http://www.bmrcalculator.org (recalculated as I became lighter) and caloric burn from walking estimated from https://www.verywellfit.com/walking-calories-burned-by-miles-3887154 (also recalculated based on longer distances in months 1 and 2 when I was also at my heaviest). Over the 152 days I didn’t miss a single day of walking, although I did have several very light days. My slowest pace was just over 2 mph in Feb. and my fastest pace is currently just under 4 mph. Finally, all of this tracks with my experience of greater weight loss at the beginning of my process and a slower rate of loss in months 4 & 5. The only costs of this program have been a subscription to Audible and 4.5 pairs of Nikes.
Moral of the story… You can absolutely lose weight quickly if you focus on WHEN you eat and put in the miles one step at a time.
Why does it seem I get better results from running? It has been the only exercise that has gotten rid of my belly.
That guy comes across as sincere in his videos, which means people are more likely to watch his videos and accept his pointers.
Most people with high amounts of fat around their midsection can’t even do long runs.. Shes right in the respect it is better in ways as its low bearing and can be done by anyone but calories in vs out are what matter, this is just a fact.
I hate running. Hurts my joints. I prefer walking longer walks but swimming would probably be the best form if weight loss
My husband suggested that I walked 10,000 steps, and before I had a moment to think or even walk 10,000 steps for the first time, he suggested I could increase it to 12,000 steps.
However, I have started walking and have now walked over 12,000 steps 4 times this week. I previously tried low carb diets, slim fast, running and walking, YouTube workouts etc etc. Nothing has been more successful than walking 10,000 steps a day. It’s working, I am using Slim Fast still x two shakes a day and a normal meal. Because of the calorie deficit (I burn off 700-900 calories each time I walk) I am loosing weight whoo hoo!
My walking buddy is my big ole puppy. We walk 3 miles a day and he wont let me skip it. Great motivator.
Interesting to know about running and cortisol. I am trying to walk about 20,000 steps a day. Thank you for the tips.
Totally agreeing with you on the diet part! Very transparent on your talks!!!
I get fat when I don’t run. Yes, I was walking 4 miles a day and still gained 20 lbs. I guess it is hormones.
Hormones = chocolate coating with a creamy filling.
Ever see a group of marathon runners all packing beer belly physiques?
One look at the title and I need a bleach cleanser. It’s not rocket science. *Fat is fuel*. You require more energy to run than to walk. Straight and simple.
She’s constantly talking about nutrition in her channel. Your whole argument is based on an assumption that she’s discounting nutrition.
If you hate running, you haven’t ran enough. Once you fall into the groove, and get your first runner’s high, you’ll be hooked.
Theres no scientific basis for the negative ions thing, walking outside in nature does have other benefits though
For a deeper look on the negative ions thing I recommend veritasiums video below:
https://youtu.be/ZQ-scjcAZ4
I walk 10,000 steps every night at work and haven’t lost a pound. I work at the hospital. Walking every night is inevitable
You forgot too say Walking that much you will need a ankle, hip and knee replacement.
Many consistent runners are lean and athletic. All forms of exercise cause you to release cortisol, and yes longer endurance exercise does release more cortisol but as your body adapts to exercise you will release less cortisol. Most people who don’t run competitively are not putting in an insane amount of mileage. A 30 minute run or shorter won’t make your stomach fat. Take care of your mental health and stress, and eat well. Walk or run, whatever you want to do.
Cortisol is a fat transportation hormone. It carries lipids to the fat cells to store it, but also carries them to the liver to be broken down. When stress elevates cortisol levels, appetite is increased and more fat is stored. When HIGH INTENSITY exercise elevates cortisol, more fat is carried to the liver to be broken down. It is proven clinically that high intensity workouts are the best way to target belly fat. (Normally you can’t spot reduce fat but high intensity workouts prefer belly fat for energy.) If you have adrenal fatigue, high intensity exercise can cause a problem because of the cortisol demands, but if you are healthy enough, Higher intensity workouts are great fat burners. (I’m also a personal trainer and was previously bed bound for 3 years from the most severe form of adrenal fatigue.)
None of them really matters for weight loss. Calorie intake is what matters for weight loss. So both of them are (in the big picture) fairly redundant for losing weight…. that being said, exercise is brilliant and everyone should do it. Running is a more “intense” physical exercise than walking, it also burns more calories per minute, gets your heart rate going and so on. So running is better, if you can run… a lot of people in their 40s and 50s and older, can’t run… so they should walk.
I already walk a lot more than recommended in this video. I find I can handle 8-10 miles a day just fine, but I get really tired if I have to do 16+ miles all in one go no matter how easy the walk otherwise is.
If you really want to up your step count per day, I would say try and have a few walking sessions with breaks in between because that I find to be less tiring than just going at it all in one go.
Well yes the calories in calories out is not very true because it depends A LOT on WHAT type of foods you eat. Very processed stuff are not metabolized the same by the body than whole food. Look at Arte « un monde obèse » https://youtu.be/O_BaYW7lLfU
I walk 3 and a half miles Monday thru Friday. I take the weekends off. Everyone should walk. The benefits are many.
Active minutes over steps for you fitbit users. Get your heartrate into fat burning mode. 30k steps with 15 active minutes doesnt cut it.
Thanks I was wondering why my walking stop working for me!!! I have to change it up
Okay I have questions about this and this seems to be a good place for them. So I personally have been trying to get into a better shape. I haven’t drastically changed anything but I am slowly but steadily working more exercise and healthier food options into my everyday life. I hate walking. I hate it with a burning passion, I don’t know why, but my sister was able to get me to join her on runs every second day. Very chilled and short runs and I do other excercise the same day and/or the other day depending in my mood.
Should I stop running, is it, like, bad for me? Should I try to get into walking? Or can I just stick to this thing….I feel like it’s easier to motivate myself to go for a jog for 20 minutes than to go walking for 2 hours. But I am also predispositioned for anxiety and have a history of panic attacks, so would that mess with my stress levels? I’m confused, please help
I believe walking in good for overall good health good circulation & good heart health it lower cholesterol & high blood pressure may god bless us please send us more positive feedback
Running or something similar is important for your heart and is alot quicker. I do intense cardio 2 or 3 times a week but I walk alot more took me a while to believe it but it’s really effective doesn’t make you hungry doesn’t exhaust your body and doesn’t kill muscle. You can walk alot more without the negative effects
Well it might not be for weight loss but it damn sure is for knee and joint health. I’m a massage therapist and I have seen a lot of people lose a lot of weight with running just to need a knee replacement in their 30’s.
i have been walking for 30 yrs i am 81 yrs old and do not take meds 1000344 mils yr
thanks for the awesome video. I do try but really don’t have time to walk 2 hrs a day. What do you think of an underdesk elliptical?
To lose weight and belly you need a gallon of water a day stay away from sugar and eat some veggies
Is this also for men?? Helps also To have abs? Please notice
If you got the time, walking 1 hour a day works well but make sure your diet is in check. Been walking for 3 weeks and I have lost some pounds already. Went from 255.6 to 248.4
so are ions like rays from the sun? are they like a and b? so why is the roof able to deflect the a and b?
so all the boomers walking around the neighborhood are in better shape than a track star???
any response to the claims about cortisol causing a build up of stomach fat though?
Running definitely doesn’t work for me. I used to run 3 miles a day and it caused so much stress to my body! I did have a belly. But my legs rocked
How many calories I can loose in a day with these 8 exercise
Oml! You call those push ups
You need to do it properly
Elbows tuck in and go all the way up and all the eay down
I walk average 2.5 miles a day divided in am and pm. Has changed my life. I tend to be anxious and was getting panic attacks but walking has really reduced these episodes greatly.
I always walk 12,000+ steps each day… I didn’t know this is what happens to my body
Some people have a metabolism of a Ferrari some have a metabolism of a Honda. I’ve done lots of walking and lost weight. Figure Skating intensely when I was young with my PCOS condition messed up my knees. Probably my eating habits didn’t help either. But I use to walk hours and lost tons of weight.
I walk 4 miles a day which takes me about an hr and I’m loosing weight and feeling amazing! I’ve lost 15 lbs in about 9 weeks
She said for lower abdomen fat. Walking helps get that excess love handle fat off. Higher level of cortisol gives u love handles and belly fat
I was so distracted forgot about my bell & looking @ her belly

I have been walking 3-4 miles a day for almost a month now and I changed my diet. I’m down 17 lbs! This video couldn’t be more right!!
Tbf walking is better only because it’s easier to be consistent especially when starting out. However once you no longer have a ton of fat on you start jogging.
Let’s spread positivity ppl this womans is trying to help & speaking of good health issues may god bless us
Are you fucking stupid? Calories in calories out has been debunked? You spit so much bullshit it’s not even funny where the fuck did you get your degree
The less intensive exercise burns more calories than the more intensive one? You’re kidding
Im walking 5-8 km everyday & its my 14th dayim feeling really relaxed & calm.
Walking is preferred if you have years for weight loss. For most people who want to lose weight in a reasonable amount of time you have to run. There’s no easy way to do it, weight loss takes hard work and real commitment bottom line.
This is absolutely true for me. I use to jog regularly at least 3.5 miles 4days per week in between weight lifting. My weight loss and blood pressure results were not what I expected. I continued to have high BP and weight went up, or didn’t change at all. I started having problems with my knees, so was forced to walk instead. Thats when I realized that I started to have faster and better results. My theory for this in my case is that running somewhat put or shocked my body into a preservation stage, holding onto fat, whereas walking tricks my body into burning fat easily. Now I have to say that I did walk much further/longer than I jogged, 68 miles.in 1 hr 45mins to 2 hours but it was so much easier. Also those 2 hours were 2 hours taken away from time that I would have otherwise been eating some type of BS junk food, or eating period. I’m sold on walking now.. one of the hardest things for me to do now is to resist the urge to start running again.. I could, but won’t because it’s walking is really working. Started walking when I was 6’0” 317 lbs. Now 260 in about 6 months. BP is almost back within normal limits now. Its much easier to build up to going longer distance walking. I started doing about 2-3 only for the first month. Sounds unconventional, but It also seemed like weight lifting was slowing down my fat loss. I will start back lifting when I reach 220 or so
