I think people should grow their own dill and some other herbs. I am in the process of improving my soil and doing everything organically.
I find cilantro, dill, basil, and mint the easiest things to grow so far. I let some go to seed. I save seed, but I let some fall. I don’t till the areas, they come up voluntarily, and they are great at overtaking other weeds after an initial weeding of some unwanted weeds, when they first spring up-which is so great. I plant other vegetables in the bare spots in those herb areas.
They are all very pretty in general, and in bloom, and are aromatic all along. People should incorporate them into informal flowerbeds and such or just have herb gardens. Mint should always be potted, though, since it is so invasive.
I make bouquets of cilantro, dill, and basil, and put them in water in my kitchen, and use them for several days in my cooking while enjoying them otherwise, since the water keeps them fresh and full.
Have little white bugs crawling on my dill plants. What should I use to get rid of them? Could they be dehydrated if I get rid of them? What do you recommend?
Great research and advice…and I thought I was only making my fish platters tastier….. you truly have enlightened me on much-needed opinions…thanks. What are your thoughts on Saw Palmetto, maybe for a later topic… you would be surprised how many guys follow your research!
Dill is very invasive though. Not that it’s a bad thing but it will seed itself and grow everywhere
Steamed carrots, fresh dill, and a big chunk of Kerry Gold butter…YUM!:)
I grow fresh dill in my garden. It tasted great in egg salad. Try adding lemon juice to the rice and dill. Love it that way.
On top of my surimi + imitation crab salad. l make delicious “chicken salad sandwich” With Shallot onions diced, mayo, cooked chicken in small pieces,
Peas,lots of dryed dill.

Iv watched every video almost and my dill that I started from seeds each plant stem has one long grass like finger that’s purple or brownish color the plant looks healthy and it’s still a baby anyone know why one piece of grass like leaf is purpleish/brownish
Protein is WAY over-rated. Mother’s milk has next do ZERO protein in it. Look up “the protein cancer connection”. I just thought you’d like to know….The truth is humans are FRUGIVORES and should be eating mostly fruit and a few leafy greens. The OMNIVORISH diet is what has been making Americans so sick.
Dill is very popular throughout Eastern and Southern Europe as it grows well in those areas. When young, in late spring and early summer, dill is generally used in red or white kidney beans dishes, as the taste compliments the somewhat nutty flavor of the beans or, alternatively, finely chopped in omelettes, also super tasty. A lot is used in other kinds of soups, or combined with fish, added at the end to improve flavor and appearance. Once it matures and flourishes, close to autumn, the plant becomes too tough to be used in dishes so it is entirely picked instead, including the inflorescence, and added to the mixture used for pickling vegetables, mostly cabbage, green tomatoes or cucumbers, all traditionally pickled in late autumn in that part of Europe. Medicinally, dill is supposed to improve kidney function more than anything else. Dried bouquets of dill can be seen hanging upside down for drying in most of the countryside farms. Nowadays people prefer to make small frozen dill packages which are used occasionally throughout the long winter months. It’s really a great herb to add to any diet, a research into its history will convince you.
Thanks for the information! I’m growing dill and I didn’t know the nutrients on it and I didn’t know how to use it. I harvested some today! Let’s eat it! Blessings!
I’ve been juicing fennel and celery tops this year, but haven’t tried dill yet. Thanks for the video.:)
