Jason u r the best your cooking is really of a true true trini could not ask for a better person to host foodie nation
When sodium bicarbonate is added to water, it transforms into carbonic acid, and the carbonic acid then breaks down immediately into carbon dioxide and water. All you’re left with is sodium ions, which doesn’t change the pH at all. I’m struggling to figure out how the addition of baking soda does anything at all. (I can see that it does, but I’m wondering what the actual mechanism is…)
I love all these special food that people are cooking it is great I would like to get some more tips on how to cook how to big and I would like to get to talk to some of those chef

Hi Natasha. Absolutely love your videos. I’ve learned a lot. I notice you don’t cook with masala when you make curry. Any particular reason why?

You are just the best!!!!
Thanks
From Montreal Canada

I don’t like chillies so can I leave that out? Also we don’t have that carrabean seasoning… might just use good old chicken stock Massel brand here is Australia it is actually vegetarian.. just tastes like chicken! Also might pop in some mango chutney yum

Hi Natasha do you have the measurements for this recipe anywhere? Also what was that green spice/herb that you added to the dish? How long is the cooking time for this dish if the chickpeas are soaked overnight?
This looks so yummy! This is the same way my grandma taught my mum and she then taught me…
Team Channa! Too much carbs with the aloo especially if eaten with roti.. just a lil bit to thicken the sauce TT

Looks amazing!! I cooked this yesterday but using a recipe from another channel and they didn’t add salt and YOU DID which is why I will forever listen and try your recipes you’re a legend.
Delicious. But……where is the peppersauce? Thats a MUST for this heavenly meal.
Hi Chris, you said “you need a lid” but nowhere can I see when you used the lid?
Hi dear how do u kneed your flour for your bara BTW your channa looks delicious
Yup I am making this TODAY! I wish someone would break down the different types of curry we use in the W.I
Darlin… Don’t take on nobody… This is the way the older folks used to make doubles in Trinidad.. Well with the yellow dhal..but it’s all good u go girrrrl
Keep this up it’s a little different but still the right end results thumbs up
I made this yesterday, I used mushrooms instead of potatoes. OMG, it tasted AMAZING. I also made green seasoning using your recipe guidelines. For my herbs, I used 1bunch cilantro, 1/2 bunch parsley, white ends of scallions 2 bunches, a handful of mint leaves, handful of sorrel leaves.
My friend Ria, thank you so so much for sharing these videos.
Where to get the Caribbean green season from. I will try this today. Peace and love
hear nah natasha I didnt make any mistake subscribing to your channel…loveee eeettttt
Hi Ria, does the Stiring at the end make the stew thicker or are you just evaporating the liquid a little bit?
Also are you using particular type of curry powder? Thanks
You must give it D’MAN Chef Jason He knows his spices but I’m sure you know, turmeric is not saffron. Tumeric is a root of curcuma longa plant; saffran is the stigma of a flower from crocus sativus plant. Keep up the good guys!
Fantastic that’s the recipe i was looking since long time cuz i eaten in my country but couldn’t enjoy taste in US. I think Daal made it more delicious. I’ve the ingredients am gone made on this weekend.

I tried this recipe yesterday and it came out perfect. Yay! Thanks ☺
Yet again, another brilliant cooking demo! Ria, you’re a fantastic teacher and your calm, knowledgeable delivery, is on point! I would buy anything you’re selling, %.
Omg I made this, it was sooo good! Delicious! Thank you sooooo much. It taste like the doubles man Channa from home! Lol
Natasha, we do not need to boil the channa first? Help me out here…please.
It was good! I added seasoning peppers and made it in my Instapot. Sautéed in there then set at low pressure for for 3 minutes, and let it depressurize naturally. I made Buss up Shut to fill with the curry. Thank you!
I love this recipe. All your recipes are simple but the results are amazing. Usually I would also add a few curry leaves in the oil with the mathee to fry. Looks delicious.
The street food in Trinidad is akin to indian roots like puri chole etc. Even mauritius street foods are almost like trinidad street foods.
In mauritius, you see a guy with bicycle selling dholl purie around the street corners. Behind his biks is a small glass steel trunk which is a mini restaurant by itself.
Your country is greattt….i wish i cud visit but due to the constraints of distance.
best regards
LBV PRASAD
INDIA

What is the purpose of the dhal and is it traditionally added to the chana?
Guyz, you are awesome. Can you tell what is the size and type of pan you are using?
Nice teeth, I made some brownstew fish today. One of your recipes.
Thanks for this recipe!! I’ve always wanted to taste doubles…I have friends that lived in Trinidad and they always spoke about how it was the best “street food”. I’m from the Bahamas, so I’m not new to these flavours and spices. Thanks for this recipe…I made it today and the pot was empty in mins. It was awesome. I didn’t have just cilantro, so I added a tbsp of homemade green seasoning I had in the fridge.
I’m trying recreate a dish I recently had and the texture was a little creamier. I wonder if they used coconut milk in place of water
Amazing video as always
Nice accent, can you guys do grilled meats trini style please,Thank you so much guys,

Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. I cooked it for someone special and got great compliments. Being half Jamaican but never learning how to cook I find your videos so helpful. Sending love from the UK x
What’s exactly is in the dry herbs? Maggie seasoning is very unhealty. It’s full of MSG. Some like myself cannot tolerate MSG. I wouldn’t want it anyway, it’s an excitotoxin. What is the purpose of it as far as flavor, and what can you substitute for it?
Always enjoying your cooking from toronto but a borned guyanese.guess i have to get doubbles to go whit that channa and aloe.i heard chana lower high blood presure.
Channa and aloo thank you very much. You guys are cool, but they pot was dry when the curry went it. Needed some more oil to fry the curry properly.
