Of course they going to come up with low carb diets cause mortality, especially after keto is on a major rise. I have been on keto for two weeks and I feel like a teenager and I’m 50 years old, I have dropped nearly 1 stone just eating natural fats, butter, fatty steak, eggs, and most important very low carb no sugar.
Liked the sauna bit… now that I can go along with (along with the weights etc)
when i think of it,low carb diet definetely helps to manage type 2 diabetes, coronary heart diseaae and obesity, but a low carb diet is not biological sustainable, not because of the carbs intake but certain vitamins and minerals, antioxidants and polyphenols and trace minerals are only found in plant based foods and completely absent in animal foods or fat, thank you.
what do you think about flexitarian diet. At first, I want to start this diet because I have allergic to mainly dairy product, and sometimes I got rashes or fever too after eating meats/chickens especially parts that have a lot of fat and skins. But then I also learn that there are a lot of substance been injected or given to the livestocks that are probably not healthy for us. So, that makes me more determined to eat less meat. Is it okay if we human eat meat once a week? Also, since my allergic reaction seemed to accelerate or become worse when I consumed it together with sweet or oily stuff, so I’m thinking to reduce processed food. Which means, my food intake would be mostly fresh vegetables and fruit in the future. and herbs. Although I have concern too about veg and fruit, such as the pesticide and parasite but it think it willl overweight the negative effects that I will get from the processed food?
11:12 So let me see if I understandTelling people to restrict carbs and avoid processed foods “may promote eating disorders”, but telling them to track every calorie eaten and balance it against exercise somehow won’t? rolls eyes
Denial; it’s not just a river in Egypt any more.
Thanks for all your helpful videos! I have done half avocado mixed with 3 eggs to make a amazing eggsalad.
They wanna tax meat, we’ll put a tax on sugar and wheat. A bloody lot of tax. It uses an awful of land that should be feeding animals green grass.
My father was from the south and all of us have always saved our bacon grease he loved it on his salad I use small amounts for everything because it is real and taste good thank you for confirming!
I find I have to eat very little veggies and no fruit to be in mild ketosis.. So I find groceries are cheaper without veggies and fruit…I don’t eat any processed food….it’s all real
paleo people are saying the same shit for 10 years. Robb sait something new here?
If there’s epidemiology and FFQs, then there is no substitution of one food for another, only the researchers’ imaginaAaAation
it’s strange that diet advice and even politics seem to be treated as religion today. Evidence that opposes a point of view is vilified. This is a very good talk with evidence and recognition of other points of view and approaches.
One thing it definitely will shorten is the length of time you waste on medical treatments.
this video is 6 years old, now probably more people are aware of low carb!
A fantastic talk. An eye opening perspective on how misuse of epidemiological data is used to promote biased opinions by the media.
WTH did this guy just say? I’m not sure who’s paying this guy but it sounds like a bunch of hogwash trying to gear people into well I’m just not sure. What a waste of time
14:29 ‘We may have largely lost lot the ability to be effective at carbohydrate metabolism. Perhaps in our ancestral genetic makeup we should be able to better handle carbohydrates better…’??? Seriously? Anyone who thinks that ancestral humans evolved eating a diet high in carbohydrates should go to their nearest State park or similar area nearby and find fruit, grains, and starchy tubers in sufficient quantity to sustain them on a high carb diet.
Dr. Gary Fettke covers the fruit portion of this topic in ‘Is Fruit Good or Bad for You’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6LL92Zs5L0
The selection and availability of starchy tubers is even more limited. Consider that only three of these comprise most of the starchy tubers consumed worldwide: potatoes,
He is not exaggerating about the movement to make it illegal to raise our own food ESPECIALLY animal-source food.
The Farm to Consumer Legal Defense Fund ‘Protects and defends the Rights of independent farmers and artisan food producers and their customers’. If you want to have the right to raise or buy whatever foods you choose from whomever you wish consider a donation, or joining:
https://www.farmtoconsumer.org/?s=raid
In addition to regulations that may be appropriate for the industrial production and manufacture of foods which are needlessly burdensome on small farmers, and sjkyrocketing costs for land, property taxes (farmland and other rural land uses very little in the way of public services, but the taxes on these lands pay for services to surban and urban areas. Is this fair?), and the cost of equipment that runs about 4,000% to 10,000% higher than in the 1970s… independent farms are increasingly being harassed by gov’t officials and police. It is becoming common for the smaller farms, usually run by families who are usually also working off the farm to support the farm. Unlike large corporate factory farms and CAFOs, when police, even SWAT teams, show up on farms which are usually also the homes of farming families they do not have teams of lawyers to defend them.
One example that is becoming typical: https://www.sott.net/article/294320-Police-raid-small-New-York-family-farm-charge-family-seize-animals-because-they-were-free-range
He eventually won his case, and his animals were returned. But not before Rockwood and his family went through hell, plus a lot of expense for lawyers, and lost income. Thankfully he had help. Word is a nearby hobby farm with horses kept calling and insisting that police ‘do something’ because the pasture-based eco-farming practices did not look like a flipping petting zoo fake farm.
Not just farm that produce food for sale, but also families with a little land who want to raise some of their own food are being targeted. Though not as common, even people simply growing vegetables and/or fruit have been subjected to baseless police raids.
Animals are commonly seized without due process which is unconstitutional. Police often give the farmers or homesteaders or people who just keep a few animals to mow the fields or just for the love of it the ‘choice’ to either sign over all rights to their animals or they are threatened with criminal charges. Yes, this fits the legal definition of extortion.
Though this speaker mostly refers to unprocessed milk and milk products, the issue is not limited to that animal-source food alone but extends to everyone who owns animals, and especially those raising animals for food:
‘How to Help Your Farmer During a Raid’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqdUSadi3VM
You should have about 3 or 4 liters of assorted oils/fats (seriously frying, lightly frying, dressing, spreads) with that amount of food. Also some dry yeast if at any one time you might decide to bake your own bread instead of having only pre-packaged industrially produced breads (which are safe), and a lot more flour, of course. Also way, way more vegetables than you presented, canned, frozen, freeze-dried or naturally shelf stable. If you prep for 14 days of quarantine, you’re going to need the equivalent of 7 kg of fresh produce per person. Well half of that will probably do just fine, but you talked about not compromising the healthiness of what you eat during quarantine. Also there’s vacuumed tofu and saitan products that keep for a long time without refrigeration, as vegans take these into consideration for your prepping as well, if you don’t want to eat only rice and beans for two weeks.
8:35pm I watched this while drinking a cup of hot chocolate made with unsweetened almond milk, a tbsp of butter, tsp dark cocoa, and a squirt of liquid stevia. Thought you would know that. I only do this within 2 hrs of my OMAD because I didn’t want to interfere with my 20-23 hr fast. I’m fine, 70 years old and finally losing my body fat. Thank you very much.
Only a plant based diet reverses heart disease, this is the problem. Why can’t a high meat diet reverse it? Look at your blood under a microscope after eating high fat and meat. Animal protein maybe good but a certain amount is too much and will thin your bones, increase cancer risk, cause insulin resistance. Low carb diets increase the chance of scurvy and teeth falling. Stay on a low carb diet and see, have fun! Lose weight but you’ll regain it and pay the price. Vegans are the other extreme. Most people have to add some more carbs after one year, just to feel more energetic. You have to mess your body up to find out the truth. Your the guinea pig.
One of this last points is a great take away. If we don’t start standing up and supporting ancestral eating we’re going to have big problems. Every Vegan I know looks like a wet cheeto. I certainly don’t want to live like that.
Don’t waste your time on ever changing science sturdy on diet’s outcome!!!! Expert’s don’t know everything but Guess the outcome they want,,, rig
Cow meat has just been banned in the oldest University in Portugal (University of Coimbra, established in 1290) under the pretext of sustainability and carbon emissions. The meat will be replaced by “other nutrients” as they called it. Please help us.
Maybe the vegans think they have the political power and will to force their view, but wait until Burger King, McDonalds, Arbys, Wendys, Long John Silvers, KFC, Popeyes, Chick-fil-lay, Churches Chicken, Papa Johns, Papa Murphys, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Taco John, Runza, King Kong, Bob’s Big Boy, Hardees, Subway, Quisnos, Chipotles, Costco, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Aldis, Piggly Wiggly, and others like them get a hold of them. Knowing Piggly Wiggly people, they will probably bring their guns to that knife fight.
Finally a meaningful and timely video around the coronavirus epidemic! Thanks lads!:)
It is also the way poker machines work. to get you addicted.
Can anyone share a link with me where he actually goes through the entire presentation instead of this rushed presentation?
Psychobabble. Dude, I am a humble provincial pettifogger but you have the greatest ‘big word’ BS that I have ever heard. “Nutritional Interaction within our bodies between a gut microbiome or whatnot [!] or our hormonal state is arguably orders of magnitude more complex than the totality of our genetics.”
If you can’t state it simply you do not understand it. A public audience may not call you out but I do. The example of big word psychobabble I gave is not the only one in your ‘speech’.
(Who am I? just a free thinker a couple of uni degrees. Chess, bridge and backgammon titles to my resume.) I am interested in nutrition and I have learned NOTHING from you.
Are you twins? I thought I heard one of you say “twin”. If so, I have lovely twin daughters and they are such a joy!
The proof is in the pudding… been going for a year and the whole family is DRASTICALLY healthier!
If you lot are telling me that factory farming is the way then you are wrong. Do your research. If you think grass fed is the you are wrong. We don’t have the land to do it and will not in the future as populations grow.
Fact. I agree sugar or carbs isn’t the way, neither is animal meat / protein neither. Yes, Arnold ate herds of cows and now drinks almond milk and small amounts of meat. Vegans, if they don’t plan what they eat correctly get ill, as do meat eaters. Yes, meat eaters get ill too. I get to see enough of them in the back of my ambulance efore going to hospital. Few are veggie or vegan I’m afraid. Do the science on that one. 8 medications are the norm for most travellers. May be more than 8 for some. Veggies and vegans are lighter to carry down stairs as well. Answer that one. I’ve never in 25 years taken a veggie or vegan to a cancer centre either. Answers please. I’m interested. Really……
I’ve used all of these since I was in my teens and not on Keto. My favorites are butter, bacon grease, ranch, and vinaigrette. However, I do love all of them. Lol
Or just fill your freezer, electricity is still a thing. You dont have to start consuming solely tin food, its far from the healthiest food to eat
Geez…and I am so darn worried about me eating 80-100 grams of protein.
I don’t agree with Ancel Keys and his studies, but the guy lived to almost 101. Must have been doing something right…
Low-carb is very harmful. You are a human and your primary fuel is carbohydrate. Secondary reserve is fat. STARCH is what you need to eat to become healthy. Much much cheaper too! Look up Dr. John McDougall on YouTube. Good luck stay healthy:) #highcarb
Coffee (whether ingested or even applied to the skin) is POISON to me. I get nauseous… one time I did not realize why I felt so sick until I went to the bathroom sink and saw a small coffee stain on my shirt from leaning against a counter…. washed out my shirt and wahed my skin… 30 minutes later I was fine. Tea on the other hand… no issue.
The ketogenic diet saved my life. The powers that be want us all sick, fat, poor, dependent, and distracted. That’s why veganism is now the “politically correct” diet, and the keto and carnivore diets are demonized even though they’re healing the most people.
Will lots of meat shorten your life? Easy answer, yes. That is what mice studies show. Just look at longevity studies by University of Sydney Charles Perkins Center.
Yes how about all those low carb / keto centenarians and Blue Zones people….wait a minute!!!???
Nothing wrong with carbs and an insulin spike, as long as it’s LOW FREQUENCY. Like, once every 24h max. Fast for the other 23 hours or eat a small keto meal. Also, carbs should not be processed and man made.
Chris kresser says that keto is bad for thyroid. What’s your thought on that?
Before the Keto graze years ago, I went on 100% Vegan diet for one year and did loose 30 lbs but hit the wall and could not loose that last 20 lbs. On a Vegan program I actually felt pretty good (also being a blood type A). I then switched over to full Keto for 2 years, lost that additional 20 lbs but didn’t feel as good even though I was a total of 50 lbs lighter. I later learned that Blood Type A’s do better with higher healthy carbs in their diet regiment where as Blood Type O’s do quite well on Keto and many even better on a nose to tail Carnivore Diet. Blood type’s A’s have poor stomach acid (produce a lot of cortisol and prone to acid reflux), where as Blood type O’s have strong stomach acid. I can’t help but agree with Dr. D’Adamo’s book ” Eat Right 4 Your (blood) Type”.
As so many people have done before Mr. Wolf (Dr. David Diamond, Gary Taubes, Nina Teicholz, etc.), this presentation illustrates how abysmal nutritional research methodology is and how steeped it is in ideological bias. Along with all the other things that our kids learn in science class, teachers in high school should be required to teach about how nutritional research is done, so as to present students with a good example of what is NOT good science. Such an important lesson would be so useful to students in the future, not only so as to prevent them from being duped by the latest contradictory finding that comes out of the nutrition world, but it would be useful in other areas, such as politics, where they could be manipulated by statistical chicanery.
That ridiculous epidemiological study to suggest that eating low carbs leads to early death is probably including 95% of cohorts that have been eating high carb all their prior life and are essentially “insulin damaged lab rats”. The data is so bogus that those actually dying from attribution to “low carb” could in fact be dying from NOT EATING ANYTHING WHATSOEVER crb or fats or protein starvation (due to being sick from carb poisoning all their lives)Sick of the fake science.
To all of you with a low-carb phobia, you will save yourselves a lot of time and neurosis by also watching all 100 or so presentations of Dr Bernstein’s Diabetes University series here on YouTube and reading, in full, his book Dr Bernstein’s Diabetes Solution. And, Robb Wolf, if you’re as young as you look, Bernstein’s been on a less than 30g-carb-a-day since before you were even conceived. And you ask “Who is there, out there, who’s been on a low carb diet for that long?”?
47:30 Of course autism existed before someone thought to name it, just like Pluto (the dwarf planet) existed before 1930. If you read about his habits, Henry Cavendish was clearly autistic, but lived before anyone bothered to write diagnostic criteria. The myth of the “changeling child” seems to be based on autistic children, when people were superstitious enough to believe in fairies stealing children. When you say silly things like that autism came into existence when the diagnostic criteria were written, you make me doubt the accuracy of the rest of your talk, even though I’m inclined to believe in low-carb.
It would be interesting to narrow down the role of exercise in some of this. I would say even the middle ground of fat and carbs could probably do OK if they exercised more (at least better). That’s probably why humans did eat more carbs in the past with fewer problems. One of the best indicators of longevity is VO2max. A study of 5000, found the highest five percent range of VO2max lived about five years longer than those in the bottom five percent. You can’t tell me those top 5% were all low carb eaters, yet they still got an extra five years over the less fit people. The issue is multifaceted, that’s for sure.
The biggest push we are seeing is targeting MEAT EATERS with lab-grown and false multi-ingredient substances that emulate meat (many vegans wouldn’t touch this stuff). To achieve this goal real meat needs to be outlawed and large organisations who are promoting veganism AND those that see a new way to make a lot of money are making huge inroads here. The millionaire investors will then be able to sell this cheap substance to the populace and make a huge profit. Nutrition comes nowhere on their radar. Profit is everything. A future where only the rich can access real meat (and strength, health and longevity) and everyone else is fed artificial substances, remaining weak and generally malnourished but still functional.
You will count calories and consider activity level on ANY diet, including zero and low carb.
What was attempt at condescension about?
His last remarks about the vegans and their hate for meat were right on the nose. We must stop the vegan madness.
Main stream media is business propaganda for the corporation’s.
Excellent talk. I’m going to try and find more talks by this Wolf guy.
is retarded to even belive it after all all this shit carbs are not exentials and we live millions of years with out it and not only that is man made foods is garbage promoted by fake studied vegans bias
Great talk but was it necessary for you to have two microphones? Lol!
Nonsense presentation..stop playing with people’s lives with false information…you obviously are a paid nobody to promote an agenda of those who have financially paid you to spew this garbage….THE PUBLIC MUST TAKE IT UPON THEMSELVES TO READ ALL SCIENTIFIC DATA THAT IS PROPERLY CONDUCTED AND IS NOT BASED ON SUPERFICIAL DATA OR PROPAGANDA…. YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON KNOWING PROPER KNOWLEDGE AND SHOULD NOT BE AN EXPERIMENT OF SOME IDIOTS HOLDING SEMINARS….
Today I happened to read that Lancet article online, and just minutes later YouTube suggested this video to me. Big Brother is truly watching everything we do online. In this instance I didn’t mind, even if it is disturbing, because I liked the content very much.
Thank you for an interesting talk!
I’m not big on eating a lot of meat and fish, I just go for small amounts with high quality, as in organic or wild caught. The main thing is to cut all processed food, and eat a lot of different greens and they sure are tastier with a bit of fat and salt:-)
Intermittent fasting is a good idea as well, that is rarey mentioned if a study is done.
You bet the marketing machine knows shitloads more than almost everyone, that is why they are so good at what they do.
In Australia the two big chain supermarkets spend billions on marketing, they have experts from all backgrounds.
The Big Food Corps are no different.
I love how so many skip this part and go straight to Big Pharma as the devil, yet don’t educate themselves how Big Food work…
So let me get this straight, not eating something that is not essential for a human being to live, will cause you to die earlier.
No bias in those studies, clearly, right?
Complex Carbs/Whole foods are our main energy source and brain food. Rice, Oats, Nuts, Fungi, Pulses, Beans, Fruit & Veg. Fibre is important too.
Intermittent fasting is also the way our ancestors ate. No meals in a morning. Foraging thru the day and a large main meal on the evening containing complete nutrition. Ditch the Animal fats and cook with natural plant based healthy fats like olive oils and coconut oil/milk. Use fortified plant based milks to complete the plant based diet. Nuts will also provide more healthy fats and protein.
With the new vegan film, “Game Changers,” being promoted by the well financed, morally corrupt Hollywood establishment it appears the culture war is doomed to perpetuate the diet war. The absurdity of the vegan position is revealed when the narrative is flipped with rise of the carnivore diet, it is very unlikely that those in that peer circle would be aghast if a salad was introduced during a meal. However, the reverse would lead to immediate excommunication.
These programs are boring and always attacking the science. Now granted, a lot of the science is BS but these speeches are the same thing over and over. I am done with this channel.
In my experience longevity seems to be linked to eating in moderation, there is also research on this. I think this favours a lower carb diet in general because it satiates appetite far more effectively, as was indicated in this talk. Most who do a low carb diet and increase fat consumption, will tell you they have a dramatically reduced appetite.
Vegans can eat as they wish BUT THEY CAN NOT IMPOSE THEIR BELIEFS ON OTHERS!
What a bunch of cabbage head nutters!
Well being morbidly obese and diabetic will Definitely cut you down early soo…
Hey what that new movie about plant based body building diets, with good old Arnold beating the drum, should be funny.
Why are speakers always rushed with such little time? They have such awesome info. I’d rather sit through 3 hours listening to this guy and gain a lot more knowledge
That study seems to lack a backbone in my view because there are almost NO CARBS in meat, so what were they trying to prove? Basic BS from high paid BS’ers! If they did real studies on real people, I’ll bet their findings would knock their socks off…but I doubt they’d ever admit they were wrong!!!
Highly interesting. It should have taken mentioned 2.5hrs 😉
My grandfather’s and uncles all lived into their 70s but grandmother mother lived to their 90s so far but it was always a mistery how george burns lived past his 100s. i think its in the genes
Well,we already know a high carbohydrate diet has a early mortality, because about every 30 seconds someone gets diabetes, and that’s one of the leading causes of early death, through Heart Disease, kidney failure, and other issues.
Just started following you! Your one of my favs. I have been doing low carb / keto for 2 months I’ve lost 12 lb and some inches I wasn’t extremely heavy so I’m kind of at a standstill but still loving it!
Wish we could get these condiments in Canada oh by the way I love your shirt!
G. Hughes sugar free BarBBq Hickory flavored Yummo!!!cal 10 carbs 2gram calories 10,2 tlbs and other flavors YUMMO!!
i absolutely love Cholula hot sauce! & Red hot!
I just started my Journey to low carb eating and you dont know how happy you made me,by delivering those amazing news!
I would like to find a good keto recipe for BBQ sauce! I do miss it…..
I’m with you until the BBQ sauce, it has corn starch in it and my poor wife is allergic to corn. Leaves out Franks too but I love Franks and my wife loves Cholula so all’s good.Otherwise great!
I see you are drinking wine. is that low carbs? can you pls share some favorite wines.
Ok, now this was interesting. I Love your cheeks. That wine was kicking in uh? You look amazing. Keep up the good work!
Just found you today, love this video, that sound at the end of you opening up a soda, makes me drool, I haven’t drank k soda in 28 days.
He makes some good points, but I want to say that if someone has a good metabolism, there is nothing wrong with eating 200-300 grams of carbs per day if it’s low in fructose.
He says all carbs break down into sugar. But sugar rarely means glucose, it is usually referred to combination of glucose and fructose. Once your metabolism is damaged by fructose, you can’t metabolize carbohydrate well and needs to go on the low carb diet.
So I can’t see how a healthy person can’t handle real food carbohydrate that is low in simple sugar.
And my doctor says losing weight isn’t possible. I wish he could watch this. How do we overcome sugar addiction
You know Dr. Brukner, perhaps we should test all our food on the ants before we eat it. They clearly have better sence than the average scientist. Vegans could learn an awful lot from them.
By the way, the label he shows at 49:35 that’s full of unpronounceable ingredients, about 40+ of them… that label is from baby formula in case you were wondering. That’s what the label looks like on the garbage they’re feeding to babies. It’s just soy, corn, some oil and sugar, and a bunch of synthetic vitamins.
This is why the mother (as long as we’re not talking about an adoptive mother, they obviously don’t have any option to breastfeed) needs to be eating a good diet so she can actually breastfeed for longer than a couple months.
I almost lost my milk supply, it was getting worse and worse and my baby was crying after eating and hungry every hour. It was horrible. I tried every supplement and nasty herbal bars, herbal teas, herbal “candy,” power pumping, etc. Nothing worked. Changed to a low-carb, mostly animal-based diet and I’ve been able to stop taking all the supplements and my baby gets plenty of milk now.
McGovern was a Democrat…the same party that currently has proven to be globalist, incompetents interested in spreading misinformation & stupid ideas about governing….losers all
when the doctor told me I was “prediabetic” I was relieved because I thought that meant I was doin OK and NOT YET diabetic! The freakin doctors should have actually bothered to explain that it meant I was about to get very sick AND ALMOST DIE! Now I am carnivore for 10 months and down 85 lbs and my chest no longer hurts really badly all the time. I am saving my own life. Last doctor that had told me to lose weight got a real earful as I bawled him out, starting with, “and just HOW do I even lose AND do that where it stays off?! I have tried everytjibg you all say!”. And when he admitted that diets didn’t work, I told him to stop insulting people with pointless advice. NOW there actually is a way to lose to lose weight and so many doctors automatically say it is not safe WHEN it is and it WORKS! smdh at the closed minds and rote behaviors from people paid to think. We pay doctors to think! The word needs to spread and FAST!
Hello great information about our sad health care providers that I already had a good idea of what they are mostly consisted of… But I’ve been doing a moderate ketogenic diet for the last month and a half,I started after listen to Dr. Eric Berg, and there is a little if not a lot more food to live on and constantly live on for a long time without being hungry all the time. Also at the same time I after listening to his video about intermittent fasting aswelll I got on that too.i just needed to say that. Like steak, bacon, pork chops, rice, eggs (which I usually boil) salt pepper, homemade salad dressing, bay leaf tea with cinnamon and ginger root.
Now I only eat two meals a day, with the odd day I go with just one.and instead of low carb I’m going NO Carb until I clear up my eczema that also along with ackey joints and bad back sore muscles.i am gonna make an attempt to cut all unnatural sugars and sweeteners out of my life for good. I don’t have a house scale, and I’m not interested in the number watch Anyway to much, although it will be nice to get on after another month of this to see what is going on…now I know I started at around 235 pounds. I’m 6 foot male I know that I should be around 185….so thanks for your information, it will help me push on my way to a healthier lifestyle and stay away from the Drs.;) and I’d like to add I’m from and live in Canada, its not any better here. I have heard in the last 5 years on Facebook or YouTube, I’ll need to try and find the video I watched about a female Dr. I believe she was from Germany this was in the 50s she came out with a cure for cancers, and a lot of it was staying away from processed foods, and the store bought salad dressings… she also said that staying away from fish oils omega 3s was a good plan. Instead she suggested organic flax seed oil,the fresher the better and cottage cheese and something like home made milk. I tried that for a while, even though I have my cancer contained like it should be. You see we all have so called cancer, aids, the works…it’s our lovely immune system that keeps it all in check. Anyway,if someone knows of this Drs. Name that would be great for you to let me know so I can have a listen to her again. Thanks!
how in the world does lower insulin shorten your life?????????????????????????/
Half the carbohydrate in coca cola, honey, and table sugar isn’t “just glucose”; it’s fructose, which goes straight to liver and gives you NAFLD.
My Mother paid the ultimate price, she died (heart attack, diabetes type 2) because of the ADA and government Food Pyramid that she followed.
and ahhhh…I think I’m funny and ahhh….inside baseball and ahhh…proof that MDs are idiots and ahhh…..
So glad I found this diet. Just come off 4 years vegan and feeling 100 times better already
I don’t understand why so many speakers don’t have the common courtesy to refrain from these mouth sucking, lip smacking oral eminations. Once or twice in an hour’s speech can be forgiven, but that’s about it.
Okay people here is the clue: Low Carb works and it works fast and efficient. But for most people it is not applicable in the long term. Here is what you want to do if you want to change your eating habits in a real sense. Cook from Scratch, eat a variety of food (don’t exclude one food group completely), Drink Water instead of Sodas or Fruitjuices and exercise lightly. This will fix your weight problems and nothing else!
Why isn’t this video being shown in all high schools at least in Australia if not all around the world?
Doctor Brukner, you really are a brilliant speaker and well worth an ear. I’ve been keto for decades but could listen to you for hours.. Thank you.
I have learned a lot from your videos. Thank you for all the great information to help me on my weight loss/lifetime journey!
A powerful personal story. Thanks for exposing the journey you have been on
Last year my HbA1c was a pre-diabetic 6.1 then early this year rose to a diabetic 6.7 but after 3 months of following low carb and no fructose diet with a bit of intermittent fasting (basically skipping breakfast) my HbA1c is as of last week down to a non-diabetic 5.2 my liver values are also brilliant (ALT went from 65 to 38, basically no longer fatty liver). All other bloods really good. This diet really works. Oh and I also lost 16 kg in 3 months.
It’s scary this video only has 57k views. It should be shown in schools.
The food industry makes us ill, and the pharmaceutical industry medicate us. I have slashed carbs, lost 42 LBS in weight, and reversed T2 diabetes. I am waiting for a scan, that will show if I still have Non Alcohol Fatty Liver disease.
Excellent advice. When I went to the store earlier today here in Boston, I felt relieved (and yet a bit surprised) that those things you recommend were still plentiful. Besides the hoarding of paper products, most people had carts filled with less healthy options. You’ve taught us well. Carry on!
I found the right number of carbs that works for me: 0. #Carnivore
I’m pretty sure this video is gonna change my life and make me healthy, i am 22 years old and a type 1 diabetic from 6 years weight 98kgs, until i watched this enlightening video i avoided fats as much as possible and ate grains and carbs
I’ve been keto for the past year. I’ve lost 44 pounds. It doesn’t sound like a lot but it made a BIG difference in my life. I’m no longer prediabetic. I’ve had no trouble with maintaining my progress and I’m in a lazy keto category. Shrugs♂️
Someone convince me that vaccines are good. I don’t trust my government with a glass of water.
Thank you all for the presentations. I am a Female 73 lchf five years down 60 lbs, never look back, but still upset with the medical field big pharm and government for the the years of lying to us. I had to discover and undertake low carb high healthy fat on my own. Thank goodness for U tube with programs like this so We can learn how to live a lchf life and live longer healthier. Most physicians don’t know about this life path to good health.
Why is it called being carbohydrate intolerant? I could argue I’m arsenic intolerant.
This was one of the best presentations I’ve seen on this subject. And I’ve seen hundreds.
After they amputated my mother’s leg they fed her cheese crackers, ice cream, soda, apple juice etc. in the hospital.
Carnivores like Eskimos/Inuit have a lifespan which is 12 years shorter than average Canadian. Mongolians and Masai also do not have long lifespan. Check it out.
On the other hand, the blue zones, world’s 7 longest lived communities, eat predominantly plant based diet. Also based on WHO records, the top 3 countries with the higest life expectancy Monaco (89 years), japan and singapore (85 years) have predominantly plant based diet. Their meat consumption per capita is only 70% or less compared to USA meat consumption of 120kg per person per year.
Ancient china Imperial records also suggest superiority of predominantly plant based diet. Out of 250 Emperors, who feasted on meat, only 4% lived to beyond 70. Whereas out of 400 abbots of Imperial temples, who were vegetarian, 70% lived to beyond 70 years, a great achievement in ancient times.
Which high meat consumption community/country can match above records? We should not confuse high refined carb which is causing obesity/chronic illness with whole plant food eaten by mankind over the centuries.
Human is not designed to eat 100% meat considering
a) our cisors and canine teeth for meat eating is only 12% of our tooth structure.
b) the acidity of our digestive juice is only a fraction that of a carnivore.
c) the length of our intestine is multiples that of carnivore and approach that of herbivore.
d) even fast growing babies protein consuption is only 7% of their diet considering human milk only contain 1% protein.
e) kidney patients are advised to keep a low animal protein diet to avoid further stress to their kidneys.
f) scientists studying microbiome reported that best microbiome is found in diet containing fruits and vegetables.
g) research on anti aging suggest that high protein diet activate mtor pathway which accelerate aging.
h) the way animals are reared and meat cooked introduce too much carcinogens.
I am not advocating a vegetarian diet but just cautioning that a high protein/high fat diet long term may be going to the other extreme which does not promote longevity. Cheers.
I am 30 years old, have been on keto for 2 weeks and feel amazing.
I am super grateful I find that information and I will try to pass it on to people that need help
An otherwise complicated subject made simple. Definitely worth the time. Thank you Dr. Brukner.
Vegans and Vegetarians have a more complicated choice of foods on this diet. Restricting the processed foods and all the sugary drinks would already contribute to weight loss. I’m not convinced about this miracle diet. Fat is fat, if not eliminated cholesterol and related diseases will still be latent.
DEBUNK #3 continuedin this fat burning emergency mode your body removes hunger pangs so you can slowly die without hunger pains. Why the hell would you want to put your body in default emergency mode? This is an unnatural state and is nature’s second last resort to prolong your life and die painlessly. This is insane.
DEBUNK #4 He correctly states that margarine and cooking in vegetable oils are disastrously bad for you. Why is he mentioning this in a low-carb vs high-carb lecture. Does he actually have the gall to imply that margarine/vegetable oils are high-carbers foods? As a matter of fact, these oils are bad for you even when they are unheated. Why? Because they are 100% fat, so here he has actually shot himself in the foot.
I only could stomach half his waffling lecture, but if I went to the end I can assure you there be plenty more debunks. People don’t be fooled by his melodramatic BS and learn the facts and then you’ll see right through this and all other low carb charlatans who are only puppets for the enormous/powerful/wealthy meat/dairy/poultry/pork/fish industry. He is on some industries payroll and he is pulling the wool over your eyes. And he’s a master at it. Eating fat clogs up your cells, preventing insulin from removing the glucose (carbs) from your blood. So stop the fat not the carbs. And by the way, eating high-carb not only keeps you healthy, it costs about 1/4 of eating low-carbs, so you can see that is not what these powerful industries (including the general food industries) would want. And, barring trauma accidents, you’ll probably never ever have another doctors bill for life. Wow, what a concept. Eat green vegetables, totally avoid animal products and any processed foods (which includes vegetable oils))and get 80% of your calories from starch vegetables and live a very long, very super healthy life, right to the end. Who would have thought Mother Nature actually got it right by putting natural, unprocessed vegetable crops on the earth?
Wow! What a speaker! Fantastic information! Only problem is everything he said was either lies, deceptions, distortions, implied facts or quick-talking, slick manipulation and total nonsense. He spoke for 46 minutes, said nothing and dangerously deceived the public who are not learned in these matters. He forgot to mention some important stuff also. Like Robert Atkins (of the very famous Atkins Low Carb Diet) was 20 lbs (9 kg) overweight when he had a heart attack (due to clogged arteries verified by medical reports) 1 year prior to his death. Really, that’s all he needed to say in the first minute and it would have saved everybody wasting 45 minutes of their precious time. If the Atkins fact doesn’t convince you, then read on for more Peter Brukner debunking. The TRUE problem is consuming carbs and fat together, which is the modern, rich western diet, resulting in all modern chronic diseases. You can go low-carb (20%) or go high-carb (80%) and eliminate obesity and subsequently diabetes. However, long term (decades) a low-carb/high-fat diet (50% fat/30% protein/20% carbs) will result in heart disease/cancer/Alzheimers/chronic disease. Studies show this and you can find all this info on YouTube via lectures by Dr John McDougall (both diet and cancer lectures), Dr Neil Barnard (both diet and Alzheimers lectures), Dr Nick Delgado, Dr Caldwell Esselstyn, Colin T. Campbell (excess protein causes cancer). But conveniently all these references weren’t mentioned. Wonder why? Here’s how he further deceived you.
DEBUNK #1 He correctly states that the recommended (since the 1950’s) diet has been low-fat but then implies that the modern obesity epidemic is the result, so the low-fat diet is wrong. Where’s the proof that obese people are on this diet? He just assumed and therefore very slickly implied everyone’s on a low-fat diet just because it’s recommended. The facts are fast food and animal product consumption (both high fat) have skyrocketed since the 1950’s. So he deceived you.
DEBUNK #2 He correctly states that sugar consumption has also skyrocketed. He uses coca-cola/fruit juices/flavoured milk as examples. So he slickly implies that a high-carb diet is all about sugar and these drinks, which is a false notion. A proper, healthy high-carb doesn’t touch these thing. Again he deceived you.
DEBUNK #3 He correctly states that, in the human body, carbs turn into glucose, which activates insulin. But he is demonising carbs/glucose/insulin. This is another lie because any human biology text book shows this is normal operating procedure for the human body, and in fact, only in emergency times of famine/starvation (I.e. no more carbs) the body will revert to burning fat (which is the basis for the low-carb diet) and when fats stores finish the body reverts to burning protein and when protein stores finish you die. So a low-carb diet is putting your body in emergency mode.
Why does everyone say that Keys was a “good” or “brilliant” doctor? He was CLEARLY a shitty scientist and horrible person.
I find it impossible to find mixed nuts that haven’t been roasted in unhealthy oils.
Excellent video, everything we have in ours, plus shelf ready boxed tofu.
I know this works for most, but as with any way of eating many don’t stick with it as it gets too restricting to do for “x” amount of time IMO.
well… I have been on the keto diet for 2 months. I have dumped 16 pounds. My blood pressure has dropped significantly. It is a challenge, but I am not hungry, mostly just trying to resist influence by others to have goodies to eat. I do believe it is different for everyone, you have to fine tune the fat/protein/carb ratio to fit your body metabolism. After 2 months I am now trying to really focus in on super healthy, nutritional carbs just for the needed vitamins/minerals. But I believe I have broken the sugar ( as in drinks, cookies, ice cream, candy ) addiction….and I was really hooked. The thing that surprised me the most was how sensitive I have become to foods. I am still drinking 2 large cups of coffee in the morning and I can really feel the caffiene and I know this is not good so that is my neck hurdle, dump the coffee or at least get it down to a very small cup in the morning….damn I love the coffee
I wish I would’ve stayed on the Atkins diet since it came out in the 70s.
Damn Ansel Keys and his collusion with the devil.
the doc forgot to add fasting as an effective way to lose weight. Im doing both fasting and low carb and my results are fantastic
Brilliant presentation, but why is so few doctors on board? Guidelines have to change, low fat has died, but it is still kept a secret! Why? Popping pills is expensive for our health service, growing cereals, sugar and producing toxic “food” making us sick is crazy. Who sits in government delaying the changes of guidelines? Maybe we need to see how many politicians are farmers or have declared interest in pharmaceuticals.
Finally you see how it works all the diseases like MS, Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Diabetes 2, Inflammation can be cured by a healthy diet yes also Alzheimer’s the medical industry everywhere is corrupt to the bone about mental health read the book The End of Alzheimer’s by Dale Bredesen then you know how it works real foods and healthy fats to heal your body logical isn’t it I never saw a doctor I knew this already decades ago sugar is poison ☠️ and low fat is very dangerous
The best food in the world is……… canned sardines yes try it!
I lost over 50 lbs in 6 months..quit pop, energy drinks, sugar (as best as we can since its in everything lol) and went on healthy fat 1 big meal a day. Big sald with cruciferous veg, avocado and hemp seeds. Then have a medium rare steak drizzled with olive oil with basted eggs over top. Friends cant get over how much weight ive lost. I work construction as well, so im on the go all day and am still not hungry until 4 or 5pm. Plus all the money im saving eating 1 meal a day
I would be careful with the statement at @ 38:38.. “carbs are carbs”. That sounds a lot like “calories are calories” and is also incorrect! (e.g. half of sucrose is fructose, and that makes a big difference.)
What these speakers should do is stop sounding like an academy awards acceptance speech. No autobiography. Get right to the data, in measured statements.
I heard American Indian women used to eat a bear fat diet when they had trouble conceiving.
can u please explain this. i only eat animal fat or clarified butter. my daily intake of carbs in less than 200g/day. how can my TRIGLYCERIDES be this high. no sugar or processed sugar, my carbs is from wheat.
RANDOM PLASMA GLUCOSE 166 mg/dL
TOTAL CHOLESTEROL. 219.00 mg/dL.
TRIGLYCERIDES. 210.00 mg/dL.
LDL -CHOLESTEROL (Direct). 131.00 mg/dl
HDL-CHOLESTEROL (Direct). 37.00 mg/dL
VLDL CHOLESTEROL 42.00 mg/dL Calculated
ALT (SGPT) 51.00 U/L
ESTIMATED AVERAGE GLUCOSE 119.76 mg/dL
The problem isn’t that fat was taken out of food and that sugar was put in.
The problem is that the foods were created in the first place. Processed foods are the problem. Not sugar.
Why are processed foods the problem? They can be engineered to be addictive and lead to episodes of binge eating.
Sugar is a red herring.
Food companies will simply start making higher fat, low sugar foods. People will not change how much they eat. They will continue to gain weight. And the cycle will repeat.
When you focus on obesity rather than insulin, you stigmatize people with obesity. Thin people also are insulin resistant. And obesity is also caused by stress hormones, hypothyroidism, and chronic inflammation (which can be caused by many many non-dietary sources).
8:04 exactly how I felt lol. It feels like it’s too good to be true.
I dont class it as low carb but as normal carb, because the SAD diet or the diet that most westerners eat is in fact a high carb diet and not our normal diet
Nice lecture but I think there is an immense different between “sugar” and glucose fructose. Glucose can be metabolized by the body in a healthy person. Fructose actively makes people sick.
Avoid fruit except avocados and olives. Fruit has been modified to increase sweetness (read sugar).
Well presented and entertaining presentation, looking forward to my first event in Sydney next week.
Perhaps he lost the weight from avoiding PUFA (poly-unsaturated fats) and being in a caloric deficit. It doesn’t mean that carbs or sugar is the devil. There are plenty of lean people on a low fat diet who simply don’t over consume and avoid PUFA.
3 years keto 58 years young shredded never going back to carbs
Good stuff on carb side… now Need more info on the healthy fat side…
Fantastic presentation! Gives a great introduction to how to use food to change your life for the better. Should be watched by everyone on the planet.
Truly… I was in high school 1965-69. We had one fat student.
Low carb diet will cause un employment! U tell me how much people are involved in processed food. World does not benefit from low carb. Why we need to get healthy and happy and effective? No economics will benefit. We will.have almost 80 percent of unemployment and then what?
Fluoride I doubt the indigenous people, that Weston A. Price examined, had a bit of fluoride in their back pockets.
So Michael Moseley’s fast 800 is going to slow down my metabolism?
Outstanding presentation. Thank you LCDU. I could listen to Dr Peter Bruckner all day.
one of the best presentations in low-carb high-fat (healthy fat) space.
Peter is a Legendvery good at pitching health concepts in Layman’s terms.
There’s a lot of BS with regard to low carb/Keto especially from some doctors, it works, period.
Great talk Peter, espicially about the fraud….just reading the big fat surprise by Nina Teicholz, the whole thing really pisses me off, this rubbish is what they are still teaching people at Uni
I’m on a carnivore diet. Would that be considered low carb diet?
I spend less now that I am eating carnivore because I’m no longer having to constantly buy greens and other veggies and no more waste due to their going bad before my family could eat them all. Now we just eat some berries or whatnot, seasonally, on an occasion, to stay metabolically flexible. Why not feed your children keto style? We are in ketosis while in the womb and while solely breastfed, for a reason. It’s how we’re all meant to be. I give my kids whole raw milk from a local farm that the cows are pastured. That’s interesting about the pressure cooker. Tristan is primal edge health.
I love lamb chops, ribeye, chicken, fish, and eggs! A big salad every night. Thank you guys! Excellent videos!
Unfortunatelly there are many people that have Vodka in their weekly grocery list…….but they don’t even know that, they have it there. Great video.
this was good information and healthful. my cravings im understanding more. emotional eating have to watch. stress makes me for ge and fall off track..im better with it now bc i think keto from dr.berg. hes really good with explaining what to do and why with keto. thank you
Enjoy your perspective. Can you provide more info about the Dr who talks about ”when emotion drives what you eat’? I am starting keto, but still find myself looking for things that are on keto that also feed my emotional needs. I want to address this in a healthy way.
The ketogenic diet, also known as the keto diet, is a popular diet that involves restricting carbohydrate intake while increasing fat consumption. While the diet sounds simple on paper, many people fail to realize that these diets involve a lot of strategizing and calculating. Because of this, people have developed alternative ways to enjoy the benefits of a keto diet without all the effort. One of these alternatives is the “lazy” ketogenic diet. As the name implies, this variation aims to cut the amount of planning and calorie counting needed while reaping all the benefits of a normal keto diet.
It’s too bad that low carb kills libido, suppresses testosterone and worsens sleep quality!
Living on vegetables alone is NOT sustainable. People need certain types of meat that contain B vitamins that are not found in vegetables.
I find that on keto i eat less and not snack at all. This keeps my expenses for food lower than they used to
Wild Caught, Cold Water, Omega 3 canned fatty fish are literally the cheapest and healthiest thing to eat… trader joe’s has Wild Caught canned Sardines from Canada for like a $1.59 a tin
Low carb works great if you live the lifestyle. If you treat it as a crash diet then no, you’ll just get unhealthy and gain weight again.
snack idea for the kids………….sour cream mixed with stevia and cacao or cinnamon (or some other kind of liquid extract)…..tastes like soft serve from what i can remember.
We buy all meats, green veges, salad veges, full-fat dairy, nuts, berries, coconut and olive oils, butter and lard. We plan a weekly menu and buy what is needed to cook that menu. No palm and no avocado because of the water usage. No seeds. No rubbish. No vegan. No unsaturated fats. All one needs to do is to become creative. Grains = seeds and you just said they’re fine? Bacon is always a welcome addition. I am never bored with my meals. I make keto ice cream Lady Fanshawe’s Blades of Mace Isy [sic] Cream: made with stevia, heavy cream, and crushed mace. Mix, put into shallow dish, cover and then wrap well and put it in the freezer for 4 hours and ignore until needed.
Quick question, where do you find porc rinds? Can’t find those in iga, provigo, etc…
Violet, I see you like playing with your sporting equipment; and having lots of fun too. That’s so cool. I admire you.
I don’t like the idea of meal prepping; however, I can easily throw some meat and vegetables together with a salad on the side and that’s all I need. I tried meal prep but it never turned out the way I planned. I’m the type who likes to grab and go. I may boil a few eggs but that wouldn’t be just for breakfast. Besides, I share a home with other family members who just eat whatever they can find in the fridge. LOL! Great video!
Shopping and cooking are both simpler. There is liberation from the complexity of having all the junk that often got wasted.
I have a problem with the early part of this video. While I agree with the concept of fat-adaptation (whereby an endurance athlete can improve the ability of his/her body to utilize fat as a direct source of energy) the idea that elite runners and cyclists are performing while in a state of ketosis is absolutely ridiculous.
Interesting! I find I buy much less stuff but what I buy is higher quality nutrient dense animal proteins and fats plus low carb in season veggies. Every meal is nutritious. No empty carby-rubbish that just stimulates appetite so your blood sugars rise high and, when they start reducing THAT is when you ‘feel’ hungry and want a snack. I do not snack. No need now. Gives my digestion a rest. Save a fortune in medications too as don’t have any. In fact haven’t been to see GP 3.5 years since keto. Health is good!
One thing I have found; that on a KETO lifestyle my protein consumption is 1/3 to 1/2 my needs under SAD. Yes, some items are more expensive, overall after preparing meals, equal in cost, sometimes cheaper. Protein is a very expensive energy source.
It’s so funny you guys just keep interrupting each other
Just discovered your channel and subscribed. Awesome recipes!
Btw, I love how to count starting with your thumb at 4:14, it’s so German. I don’t have a usual German accent but when I count like this all my American coworkers laugh about me being so German
Stay safe, stay healthy
Was extremely delighted to see you in the Netflix “someone feed Phil”
Please don’t “stock up” right now if everyone just buys one or two extra things that’s enough to create this situation where supermarkets are on there knees. Buy a normal amount and shop local where you can, I don’t think anyone is actually panic buying, just stocking up, and this is the result.
How about dehydrating some veg? I’ve always like to play around with dehydrating but don’t yet have a proper dehydrator. I found cutting some veg small (carrots, cabbage, parsnips) and putting them into a fine mesh bag (like you use for gifts) and put a small rack over your radiator then lay the bag on top. Pick it up once in awhile and shake around, lay out again flat. I use an old meat rack (no it doesn’t get used for meat anymore!) but it fits on the radiator perfectly. Or tie the bags to something hanging over the radiator. Kale torn or cut into 1″ pcs works really well. Then when things are really dry, store in a glass jar.
One time I cut up onion small, and put on a tray in the oven on it’s lowest setting. It got toasty and dry and you could eat it just like that, it tasted sweet!
Can you guys do a recipe using some dehydrated veg and beans maybe? Maybe Instant Pot?
Love this. If you were in a lockdown situation and we’re sick you would want the healthiest options on hand if you could.
I heard brown rice doesn’t last as long as white rice because of the oils on it going rancid. Is this true?
Brilliant video lads!! We’re currently living in our campervan, parked on a cliff in South Portugal. Luckily we’ve stocked up with all the ingredients you’ve mentioned and feel absolutely sorted!! So yeah, I’d have to say this is a pretty fool proof list Thank you again & stay safe! Xx Tania
yes boys! definitely took a note from all your recipes when I did my last shop i.e chickpea curry, this is an excellent follow up for new ideas. Another thing I’ve personally been using is Gram flour. really cheap and awesome for alot of stuff, making gram flour omelets, flatbreads, frittas and just filling them with veg.
A 5# bag of pinto beans can be canned and will last longer than a can of beans from the store. There are a large variety of lentils, if your store doesn’t have a variety you may have to order online.
i eat low carb but i eat a lottttttttt of veggies and fruit. i eat a large salad and salmon fur lunch followed by a banana and for dinner chicken breast with cooked spinach and strawberries. 20% of my caloric intake is from carbs. I feel great! And I work out 5x a week. The bloating in my stomach has gone down a lot since I started eating like this
Thank you again! always good advice and beautiful presence! love to watch all your videos!!!! love and peace from Mexico:)
I can’t recall ever having someone tell me that they have a bad diet. Even when obese and diabetic with heart disease they will tell you about how good their diet is. Dietary surveys are very doubtful in my opinion.
Thanks guys. very true we need to buying foods that help immune system.
Dried beans do last longer good luck finding them right now.
Thank you so much for this informative video! I got so much out of it.
Thank you! Super informative. Please make some videos with recipes for those in isolation
So should you not pay too much attention to the best before dates of bags of dry pulses?
puy lentils also great for sprouting in just a few days, so nutritious and great if you can’t get any fresh veg
Excellent! And I would add to the differences between dry and canned beans/legumes is the sodium amount. Canned versions are usually very high in sodium. If that’s the only choice, rinsing gets rid of most it! Thanks for sharing:)
Thank you guys the lentils are something I always keep on hand and, many of these suggestions. Not sure if you celebrate. Happy St Patrick’s day
Pandemic Pantry OMG that made my day!! Ha Ha Ha Ha. Thank you for that guys. Love you!
There’s no pasta rice dried things, anything in supermarkets
Of course does it work…we as humans just started to incorporate that high carb diet…we were healthier before
Just out of curiosity which may be helpful to other viewers as well, what kind of shelf life do tinned legumes have? I know they last for a while too but I hear many varying time frames so would love to know if you have a more accurate idea please? Thanks
I’m Lo Carb (10grams/day). Last week 1st Doctor’s visit since I started. My A1c is 5.3. No longer pre-diabetic officially! And I lost 48 lbs doing it.
would love to see you do a cooking video using some of these!
I was trapped in China in January (I’ve lived there for a few years). I have to agree with your advice here. I had about 3 weeks 2 meals per day made of rice, a legume, and either soy sauce or tahini.
Got a little bored, but it got the job done, and it will get the job done wherever you are, while we need to bunker down.
Have to say when I saw this video I was like ah here, but guys you talk a lot of sense not this subject:) using this time to get back to cooking at home from scratch after a hectic year of college and work experience and crazy commutes. Am now home for the foreseeable future so no dart every day! Take care of yourselves and your families.
Its not a fad diet, it works. Worked for me, lowered my weight, got leaner, returned my blood pressure to normal.
Thank you for this video. I feel grateful and proud, because my country (France) is on the verge of confining everyone and when I went to the store this morning what you recommend is more or less what I got. I also got a few bags of frozen veggies in case we can’t access fresh. Didn’t run on the paper toilet and water (there was NO toilet paper anyways) to make stocks for months like I saw so many people do.
Probably what people should buy, cook, and eat allll the time. We would save so much on food and health care.
Drinking game: Take a shot at every mention of “in terms of”
What about frozen fruit! Dried fruit! Need lots of vitamin C! Keep well!!
Agree when you say you can purchase wrong foods when hungry, same as…. you purchase your cravings, plan, plan and plan each shopping trip you will get better. check what your craving and this is your body telling your head hey your starving me of vitamin c, as an example. Stay fit folks, you only have one body.
Thank you for this video. Great information for a well stocked pantry. I had a well stocked pantry then lost it all. I was restocking when this hit. I am just hoping this isn’t the big one.
1:20 ‘Do you remember last year when there was a.. buzz going around about low-carb diets were going to shorten your life? Everybody and their cat jumped in on this thing…” Excuse me, cats have NEVER promoted the consumption of carbs. We advocate meat as the premier food, Preferably freshly caught and raw. Of course, we advocate the ‘nose to tail’ approach to dining, too.
On the fairly rare occasion when we cats ingest plant matter, we are usually trying to self medicate. Which is why members of our staff sometimes find a ball of grass hacked up on the floor. It can help settle an upset tummy, or bring up a hairball, etc. But plants are not really food, not for us.
Best of all is food you can play with first. Fun AND food. A feline happy meal! Otherwise, it is nice to be served pieces of those giant birds. Or those huge beasts that the humans call ‘beef’. Prrrrrrrr >^.^<
Excellent information guys! It’s nice to know that since I’ve completed your course, my cupboards are already stocked up with most of these foods! Love the dried pulses! And a quick trip to the local markets once a week!
i would add cabbage, carrots, potatoes, onions and any other long storage root veg
Cooking oil? Avocado, olive, sesame, coconut. Pepper. Five years ago I started getting serious in vegetable gardening and a local CSA and dehydrating foods. I buy cases of organic produce like apples and bananas preferably in season and have bulk storage of delicious, healthy, dried foods available out of season. Honeycrisp galotte tonight!!
I keep ginger in my freezer and just grate it into my dishes when I need it.
Thanks for this! I stocked up on beans, lentils, tinned tomatoes, coconut milk, flour, frozen veggies and fruit. My cart looked a lot different than most other carts! One good thing about being encouraged to stay home is more time to try new recipes!
Greetings from Berlin, which is not totally locked down but is coming pretty close. I’ve been gradually acquiring stocks of chopped tomatoes, chickpeas, tinned lentils and coconut milk for the last few weeks – at that stage, nothing I wanted was ever sold out, though in some cases they were sold out of the cheapest brand of chopped tomatoes. On Friday, when I went to my local organic super market they were sold out of almond butter and frozen sweet potatoes – that is some pretty health-conscious panic buying! But all in all, I think I’m well prepared and am ready to feed myself, my partner and even (if needed) my neighbours some nice Happy Pear food over the next few weeks. Stay well, everyone!
Do you not think it mad you’ve had to make a video like this .. your positivity and general happy pear mentality is still there but this is surreal to me!!!!
This is fantastic but what do we do because of selfish humans thinking of there selfs when children won’t eat all this kind of food
Great concise list and I would add tea, coffee and chocolate (nice organic wine perhaps?).
Another good tip to those stockpiling toilet paper and the like… don’t forget condom so we don’t get more idiots…
Well, people eating the mediterranean diet live longer than inuit people. I’m thinking it would be a better way to live AS LONG AS you can keep a healthy weight! I’m obese, and I just lost 21 lbs in ten days on a water fast. I’m now eating OMAD + keto, with lowish calorie content (perhaps 1200 or so). I’ll do that for a week or so, then fast for a week (ten days was a bit much for me). Keto is POSITIVELY the ideal weight loss pathway (which includes fasting). But, I’m not sure that keto is actually the most healthy diet long-term. Of course, in many ways it seems like one of the best ways to stay slim and that’s an incredibly important factor in deciding on a permanent diet. Personally, I think the mediterranean diet plus some regular fasting might be the best health promoting scenario. I’d be interested in hearing the opinions of others.
I used to think hollandaise sauce was gross but I recently tried it and will be adding it to my list of sauces. The other one I’m going to make is aioli sauce. I already make my own ranch dip which is fantastic! Thanks for the suggestions
Want to make a lentil stew but all the lentils were gone. It fest or fathom.
You should take that list and make a few meals from it. Also thanks for the great list!
Meat bad keto good?.. sounds to me that the vegan keto is optimal
stocking up?…current logic is pasta and toilet rolls…hey what ever floats yer boat…
Thanks for this list of healthy foods. In this difficult period panicked people go to supermarkets and fill their trolleys without criteria. Healthy foods help our immune system and help us to feel better. I appreciate your educational message.
LOL According to the zombies all you need is, apart from toilet paper, is pasta, canola oil, white flour, sugar and ultra processed breakfast cereals!!
Bought all of these things… not gonna lie I also stocked up on wine and chocolate LOL! Stay safe! <3
They did it with diet, now they’re doing it for climate, bad science for profit.
An upside to eating these healthier pantry items is that in some markets, like mine, they’re some of the last things on the shelf. I was able to get whole grain pasta, brown rice, lentils, vital wheat gluten & tofu blocks as well as lots of beans Friday. Even snagged 2 bags of frozen broccoli. That said, I left plenty on the shelves because this is no time to wipe out the market and not think of your neighbors. Please think of others, everybody!
I discovered your channel a little while ago when I was looking for easy meals to cook as a uni student. I’ve fallen in love with your channel and 5 minute meals, and was just thinking how handy it’d be if you’d done this video when it went live thanks so much from your Aussie fan!!
Mustard and mayonnaise mixed together is very good on a lot of things
I know I’m not saying anything new when I tell everyone that low carb actually started with dr. Atkins and it did not include many vegetables at all. I lost 167 lb + 50after ballooning off 7 years on steroid shots in my spine so I was able to walk. it took me three and a half years of working 5 to 7 days a week at LA fitness. it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life but I didn’t care if I died on those exercise machines I could not take that excessive weight on my body anymore. it was humiliating and all I wanted to do was die everyday of my life I spent 10 years just wanting to die I even tried to commit suicide three times. Everything in the American supermarket is fat, salt. Even the healthy vegetables are sprayed and or radiated.
You can eat anything that is edible just eat small amount and no snacks in between meals
slow and steady wins the race….. did this guy not pay attention in grade school?
Brilliant info Low Carb Down under. Thank you for sharing this important information with us all. & Take care of yourself to. ❤
Low carb diet helped me to lose 50 pounds in 5 months and waiting for more
Keto is my way of life! I will always swear by it and I feel soooooo much better when I’m on keto! For those who are skeptical, do your research before you knock it.
I don’t think I could ever enjoy eating liver and brain though.
Blame carbs what a bs. It is pretty simple. Cut the C.R.A.P. out. Calorie Rich And Processed food….
Thank you ROD and your amazing TEAM @LCDU with this presentation of Peter’s I can help to re-educate the many and beyond that I encounter. Peter does a great job of summarising the significant milestones that have shaped our modern diet and addresses them with the correction required.
I am beyond happy to be a member of this community today and into the brighter future.
Great video, av lost 13lb in 15 days cutting out most sugars and cutting daily carb intake to a maximum of 50g.
I have two “twin” theories about all of this that is trying to remain neutral on macro nutrient profiles. The scientists have vacillated back and forth over my own life time. The average lay person, such as myself, have tried to glean what works for my lifestyle. This investment in one’s own health cannot be substituted or overlooked. Accordingly, it doesn’t always seem to be advantageous for the food or medical industry when people take matters into their own hands.
1. Some people are forced to epiphanies for no other reason than trying to make a living or making due with the paycheck they earn. For example, a truck driver’s lifestyle is less conducive to a healthy lifestyle than an elite athlete. In either case, neither person knows what their diet will do over the long term. It is still a safe conclusion the athlete has many more resources to stave off disease, if any, derived from diet. The athlete has a distinct advantage given athletic performance is an extreme privilege usually associated with a higher success rate for health and longevity. The truck driver has a different challenge that must be assessed on an individual basis: NOT a one size fits all approach.
2. Diet should also include other factors that create an overall picture of health. Exercise, metabolism, sleep, stress along with other things work hand in hand with diet. This should also include food sources, as this video covers, that further contribute to one’s health. The less processed a food the more it will retain vitamins, minerals, fiber and other beneficial nutritional factors. Again, let’s not side step the underlying theory: I believe people need to find what works for them, their lifestyle and their body. This challenge is more like chess than checkers.
Went on a keto diet: In six months I lost 20lbs, my HDL went up 20 pts., LDL and Triglycerides went down 20 pts.
Where do you guys get a 5L tub of tamari?? In Donegal, never saw one.
Don’t forget that if lentils, oat flakes etc can be put in liquidiser and ground to a flour and bread made. I’ve done that many times. Also yeast flakes are good, as is getting flour from millers direct Marriage’s 16kg organic stoneground wholemeal is just over £20 incl delivery. Also use nuts to make your own nut butter with nothing added. Takes about 10 mins. If you have dehydrator get as many fruits and veggies to preserve and they are delicious
Diabetes and the solution to help it by the medical industry is a scam!
Why tell people cut out carbs when you can drain them financially by selling them insulin.
Aaaaaaaargh please people STOP EAGING COCONUT OIL ITS SO SO SO BAD FOR YOU!!!
it’s the unhealthiest fat that there is… Look it up
Yes doctor, you could change things if only people would listen.
Can you eat beans chickpeas and lentils on this low carb diet?
the only reason diabetes runs in your family, is because nobody runs in your family 😉
Went keto and lost 111 pounds and dropped my high (a1c 14) diabetes to now pre-diabetic. Getting better and better. I’m badly disabled from car accident and exercise is virtually out of the question other than in a chair. This is working!!! Nothing tastes as good as healthy feels. Eat your grains and feel bad. Go keto and feel good. Don’t stay sick due to big pharma and the big food companies.
All of the animal fat is bad, no matter what anyone says. That is what clogs arteries and causes heart disease and cardio-pulmonary issues (especially if you are not exercising hard regularly).
This diet cured my obesity and my wives scurvy
also goats coats are way more shiny
Wondering how much grain lobbying and saturated commercializing perpetuated the consumption of high carb diets..funny how it took us so long to wake up and realize what we knew ages ago.
What absolute nonsense. Everyone I know who has gone Keto or LCHF, feels and looks not only better but much better. Their weight is steady, their energy and mental sharpness incredible. No one goes back to a high carb diet, do they?
something that no one talks about is how many commonly used medication such s diuretic or meds for blood pressure or others, when used for a long time, increase the sugar in your blood. Doctors rather blame everything on the food and down play the serious side effects of medication they prescribe. If you read the fine lines of many of your meds, you will see how many change your metabolism in the long term. Another example, when I was told that I was anemic, right away,,they assume the worst ( order colonoscopy, etc..) while in fact, it was an anti acid pill i was taking which was blocking my B12 and iron consumption. I learned this on my own, and as soon as I stopped taking it, my levels went back to normal. Also, doctors never tell you that some food can cure or lower your sugar or hypertension such as ginger and garlic,, but always tell you what not to eat. Meanwhile, they push the meds and only blame your behavior. They are more protective and loyal to the pharmaceutical companies than their patients.
KETO increases all cause mortality… you’re much more likely to die if you do keto… Atkins version 17… yes, its just as dumb as the first 16 versions….
Can anyone recommend a good book or site re low carb dieting?
Hospital food @ 24:00 that would be the time to do some fasting
Dr. Brukner’s revelation about the lies fed populations is eloquent, truth smooth as butter. I loved this interesting rundown. Thanks.
Yes it works, dude real story. I’m from Texas. I’m 28 year olds I use to do Cocaine and drink a lot of beer and alcohol all day everyday, I stopped last week, I been dieting for a week on low carbs and I clearly saw a change today on my f waist. Crazy. Also worked out too so everything played out good. It works! But it’s not for everyone and it’s not a diet I can’t do all the time. That’s just me on the diet. Consult doctors and pros for your body type. Blessings
Well I agree with these statements, but dairy is an inflammatory food and can cause all kinds of problems with people that have skin sensitivities. It took me twenty years to figure out my body inflamed when I consumed dairy. My mind eczema to hives…. were all delayed dairy responses. I still have a bit of cream in my coffee though. But in the past, 40% of my diet was dairy.
The low carb diet is what caused the problem in the first place. Americans have been on a high protein, high fat diet for decades. You have been eating McDonald’s your whole life.
Need more good fats..I lost a lot of weight, but my doctor screamed at me since my cholesterol was too high. there needs to be a balance between fats sources.
Melanie McGrice recommended a dietician, what a joke. dieticians are a joke and in reality majority dont have a clue. Clearly all the facts and evidence showcase in study aftet study show a high fat low carb diet will treat a host of problems. Atkins Diet Revolution is a must have book as they give a person person the road map with each phase and get a person started on the right path.
In the US, it’s all about consumption. People are brainwashed into acquiring more…more food, more clothes, more drugs. More, more, more! It benefits big corporations and keeps the population enslaved.
Hahahahahah he says human doesn’t need carbohydrates. After 10 years he will say carbohydrates are very important. Indeed eat in small portions, and eat everything, move.
15:02 what is that in the beige bowl to the left of the nuts, brains?
Outstanding presentation… Can’t wait to share with everyone in my circle. These lectures have permanently change my life.
This is ridiculous. Carbs aren’t the problem, we need carbs.. but they have to be the right carbs. A whole foods plant based diet is the optimum way of eating for us. Eating vegetables makes us feel good. Check out “the starch solution” by dr. Mcdougall, it’s very eye opening
That dietitian says that “you can’t stick to keto; sooner or later you’ll miss bread and go back to it”. Why? I didn’t. Don’t miss it at all. N=1! The black swan again.
For 30 years doctors were recommending carb loading. How come they didn’t do any experiments to verify the results. They should all be sacked. Apology isn’t enough
The problem with the high fat diet is that when you look at the blood work of heart disease patients suffering AMI (one month prior) their blood work is similar to keto diet ie (poor TC/HDL ratios). You don’t see people with low cholesterol >160mg/dl in the cohort (2000+ people) Where as if you went on the low cholesterol/low triglyceride diet you don’t suffer more events and even regression. These MD’s are confusing the public, the data is all there.
Look around when you’re at the store. Many on scooters, walkers and canes. Many look old and just at 34 years old on a scooter?? ASD is literally disease and decay. Once I switched to keto I dramatically lost weight and stopped looking inflamed too. With keto you automatically fast bc you’re just not hungry like you are on the ASD.
there is no such thing as good or bad, its about balance! and why is nobody talking about endomorph. ectomorph and mesomorph? bodytypes react different.
Started doing Keto Fasting for over a few weeks and im finding myself way more awake than usual, walking a lot faster, not getting tired or too out of breath going up and down stairs, & less tired from being on my feet for a long time
I agree with you that we all need to cut out the sugar and processed foods. Here is some food for thought. America’s low carb keto champion Dr. Johnny (Robert) Atkins died obese and riddled with artheroscleros. Ansel Keys was correct.
Drs. Caldwell Esselstyn and Dean Ornish are curing (the number one killer in the western world) ❤️ heart disease today with a whole food plant based diet.
The World Health Organization has listed red meat as a probable carcinogen. The preponderance of evidence from scientific research clearly tells us that a Whole Food Plant Based WFPB diet is the best diet for most humans.
I was all in and on board with your low carb diet but my health did not improve until I went WFPB.
Keep an open mind.
2 slices of bread is too much. Just take out the bread altogether.
Gluten may hurt the stomach/intestines so less nutrients absorb which then calls cells to not be made right and work right which causes health issues to kick in. Gluten is wheat/barley/rye..oats/corn/rice. Rice is low in gluten. Wild rice has no gluten…is a grass.
Keto for 1.5y. lost 20kg in 2 months with IF. Now up 6kg building muscle. This diet is an absolute beast. Had a six pack the whole time and eat like an animal.
It depends on what carbs and the amount. And if you have kidney problems too much protein can cause problems.
omg nutritionist have been wrong all these years, why even have a dietician comment, lol
Yes, you can do running, cycling with low carb, but bodybuilding require high carb 30 min before workout time.
I am on Paleo ( low carb diet type) for 1 year. I am full for long hours, slim body and have a good mental clarity.
It always annoys me when I go to a fast-food restaurant and they ask if you want to upsize that, referring to the cola and fries. I rang my doctor for an appointment regarding my diabetes and was told I had to see a dietician first. As soon as I said I was trying a Keto diet she said: “Oh, we don’t recommend that, especially for a diabetic!” Keto works and being on their scientifically proven food pyramid would mean I should be injecting with insulin.
Who else clicked on the video because of the hot Australian in the thumbnail?
I have not sick for the last 3 years; GARLIC, 2-3 cloves at bedtime.
The science does not support this. The only diet scientifically proven to halt and actually reverse heart disease and type 2 diabetes is a whole food plant based diet. Refer Dr Caldwell Esselstyn and refer Mastering Diabetes with Cyrus Khambatta. They have the published science!!! Shame on this hype. Fibre fuelled food is necessary for gut health and brain health. Meat and dairy and eggs and fish have zero. Full of endothelial damaging fat and cholesterol!!!
I’m against everything said in this video. Dr. McDougall’s diet is the way to go people. Thank me later
The anti low carb diet study was supported by the sugar, processed food, medical, and pharmaceutical industries.
So the movie starts with a shot of people BEFORE dietary guidelines no morbidly obese in sight!
It is high time that the Australian Heart association and Diabetes associations were sued for negligent homicide for the deaths that occur due to their criminally negligent dietary advice.
i spend about the same or a little less now, since I don’t eat out much and I really don’t have anything go to waste. I love to meal prep 1 or 2 things for the week or at the very least some hard boiled eggs and bacon to always have on hand.
Any official recommending low fat high carb has sold their soul to the food industry.
Just as safety note: it is vital to soak the larger pulses and boil them for 10 minutes before simmering/transferring to instapot. So-called “kidney bean poisoning” is very, very unpleasant. (I had this when my mum cooked some ina crockpot. I thought my mum was going to die).
Hi, thank you for the information. I want to do this diet but was wondering if you can you do this diet if you have gallbladder disease? I get quite bad palpitations after eating fats and rich meat so I am not sure if it is right for me.
Dr. Berry you are my Very Favorite Doctor❤️
Dr Jason Fung got me going on intermittent fasting after I started my Keto, now I’m carnivore ❤️ 3 Mos. In and I’m off all my metphormin! I’ve lost about 35 pounds and Lots of inches. I m feeling much better. Now learning about the autopagy… you are BY FAR THE BEST DOCTOR OUT THERE! I LOVE, LOVE LISTENING TO YOU OVER AND OVER AND I SHARE IT❤️ Your messages have been a Godsend to my life. I’m 65 and was diabetic and serious lung scarring happening…. I’m OMAD and feel wonderful….Thank you for coming my way! I need your videos! You are my FAVORITE DOCTOR❤️
Too much animal products. Long term effects I don’t think this will work. Agree with non processed foods vs whole foods as a way to go concerning carbs. Veggie and fruit carbs compared to whole grain carbs not sure if they are digested the same and effect the body differently. Thank you for the information. Lots of food for thought.
The role of insulin is not to “build fat”… the role of insulin is to reduce blood sugar. High blood sugar is toxic to the body. If blood sugar gets too high, it will kill you. Sugar is removed from the blood stream either through excretion (using the bathroom) or converting it to stored body fat. As the professor says, if you are a person who consumes too much carbohydrate throughout the day, your blood sugar levels need to constantly be reduced, and as a result, your body is producing an abundance of insulin to keep sugar levels at a normal level. This is a problem because, as he says, too much insulin in the blood stream is not good because it won’t allow the body to efficiently convert stored fat back into sugar to perform its normal operation. Your brain receives the message from your body as “I need more sugar” and so it’s a vicious cycle.
This is all true but only if you’re a high performance athlete and that’s what they say over and over again in the video and that’s why the evidence presented is based on high performance athletes. IT DOES NOT APPLY TO YOU, unless you are “training” for a formal event of some sort. Video game competitions do not count. This textbook by the way contradicts the claims in this video…”Exercise Physiology: energy, nutrition and human performance” 6th edition mcardle katch and katch. Read chapter 1, its 40 pages of conventional wisdom. So you should know the conventional wisdom on exercise physiology before watching diverging opinions like the ones in this video. Ketosis is not “safe” this video found only one doctor that would call it that and even he did it while acknowledging we dont have any long term studies on it so therefore it “appears” to be safe. Not good enough. Glucose is king and everyone agrees. Carbs r the preferential source of energy for the body.
Why are people fat? Hmm, let’s see: pizza, cheeseburgers, french fries, fried chicken, bacon,…yup it’s those nasty carbs! Actually all these junk foods are like 80% or more pure fat.
2 yrs ago I couldn’t imagine eating meat or anything unflavored or unseasoned. Now plain meat, ghee, eggs, fish and salt. Now I try to eat seasoning and spit it out can’t even tolerate the taste lol. It’s great.
I’m on OMAD keto. Did a 30 days water fast and back on OMAD keto. Lost over 10kg. I’m insulin sensitive now. I’ve heal my guts, my knee joints. My skin is flawless and eczema is gone
I quit wheat, HFCS, processed oils and foods…lost 35 lbs without trying. Feel excellent. Wheat is evil, grass seeds meant for cows.
One simple rude but its true for all. If you eat so much, you must work as a porter. Thats all
they can’t seem to tell the difference between white processed carbs an natural compex carbs, very sad
My fav is carbs in whatever situation carbs is my buddy specially bread but now I change my habbit I follow now low carb very hard
Still wrong. Calories in calories out…simple as that. No need to eat brains.
Saturated fats from red meats are not good for us we’ve known about this Since the 1960 when many of the studies where done we could take this further and ask Dr Steven Gundry Cardiologist hell say the same
Love all the condiments talked about but my personal favorite is keto yum yum sauce!
I’ve got a “new”condiment for you… it’s from Argentina, and used mainly on chorizo sausage but it’s great on almost anything… it’s Chimichurri! But be careful on the recipe… I love Elvio’s Chimichurri (ElviosChimi.com). It’s made with olive oil! It’s also made with all natural ingredients like fresh parsley and garlic… give it a try!
My #1 is Kerry Gold grass fed butter with the great taste of salt. So very good!
I regularly mix up a batch of garlic and anchovy butter. Keeps for a good while and tastes divine and naturally melts on hot meat. You can swap out or add parmesan as well.
Made by hand chopping or blitz in a food processor
Love to use packaged Italian dressing. Made with a good olive oil and vinegar on salad is great, but also mix it with 2 Tbls olive oil and 2 Tbls of water, baste on chicken and bake. So good!
Tomato and hot (or mild) green chiles, dab of onions, salt and pepper, garlic makes a great salsa. Of course, tomatoes may be a bit carby for some, but it is delicious.
Don’t buy KRAFT OLIVE OIL MAYO! First ingredient water second ingredient olive oil third ingredient canola oil fourth soybean on and on there’s flour and sugar‘s natural flavorings i.e. MSG etc. It’s expensive and they are miss guiding you to think it’s olive oil-based don’t waste your money!!!! Thanks so much for your videos my wife Vivian swears by everyone and we’re both practicing carnivore zero carb now! And we did keto before. Feeling great thanks again! Keep up your good work.
Anyone has a great recipe for Hollandaise sauce that you could share?! Thx
Alfredo sauce is butter, parmesan cheese, and heavy cream, also delicious. Use it with cauliflower and broccoli. Use good quality parmesan like Parmesano Reggiano or one you have to grate, not the prepared cheese food in the green bottle.
Avocado mayo from Costco and real ripe avocados add lots of spices and it’s a simple Quick guacamole but it’s not industrial type go ahead add garlic or some good hot pepper sauce oh say a little ghost pepper or habanero whew sweat away the pounds lol
If you have never tried smoked paprika get a small bottle and try it. It adds great flavor to everything. Add it to mayo to give it a nice smokey taste. Also add it to bone broth to make it taste more like a meal. Add it to ground meat like hamburger or turkey. You can get it at China-Mart (Wal-Mart) or order it on Amazon. You will find many ways to use it one you try it.
So basically what you’re saying is the government is developing a way to control population by controlled poisoning
Tzatziki sauceGreek yogurt, cucumbers, oilve oil, fresh herbs etc. Tons of recipes online! Make your own recipe for Keto & pairs well with pork or lamb or use as a dip. I love it on everything❣️
Hey a mix of 3 parts sour cream and one part horseradish makes a great steak sauce for your ribeye steaks or all pork and beef for that matter.
I have wonderful friends giving me organic canned black beans and canned lentil soups. Thankyou from British Columbia Canada
Confusing rushed presentation. Too much to comprehend without transcription print out with diagrams. A very distracting presentation, but all credit for giving it a go. Thanks. I will watch it a few times I think.
First off, LOVE your channel!! Second, try Siracha and Mayo… another form of Aoili.. SO GOOD! I put it on burgers! ❤️
We are loving our meat only, diet. I was vegetarian, but now I love my meat only diet. Thankyou Dr Berry
Love your videos, I just have a question doctor. If I’m doing keto would let’s say once a month having a cheat meal? Like pizza or a dessert? Nothing crazy just a treat once a month. Just wondering if that’s possible.
What’s wrong with garlic? I’ve been told for years that garlic is one of the best things to have in your diet.
Most of those damn vegans are fatter than we are because they’re eating all the donuts and cakes and sweets.
Gentlemen, thank you very much for this awesome video! You guys are the best!
Dr.Ken can u pls let me know carb contains in cow ghee. Also in Sorghum vulgare.
Hello i have CHF and Afib what would you recommend for a diet im currently 430lb
I love mayonnaise mixed with HOT SAUCE….its delicious on any meat.
Great video…love you Dr. Ken Berry
My favorite is mayo (dukes) and mustard! Mustard has a ton of flavor i don’t see why ppl don’t eat their burgers with it!!!
My favorite is homemade mayo using mct oil and avocado oil. YUM!
1. Finedeni sauce.
2. Block of cream cheese, small can chopped black olives, chopped jalapeños. Mix and chill great with celery
Hi Dr Ken Berry, I love to listen to all your vids. I came across a video from a recipe that talked about food that contain CARRAGEENAN. Can you please tell us what you know about this ingredient. In that video it’s says it give you inflammation. I have Rheumatoid and I have trust your thinking for as long as you have been a YouTuber! Love you and keep up the great job!
Worchester sauce!! no carbs taste great on steak and hamburger meat
Bacon grease is one of my favorites right now.
I had problems eating Kale (too bitter) while avocado and asparagus engaged my gag reflex.
Then I fried it a little bit in the pan after the bacon was done…and now it goes down without any problems.
Half a teaspoon with vinagear 4-5% type, each day, it will reenable acidity in stomach fluids. And you will lose weight, without any diet. After a few weeks you don’t feel hungry, because stomach acids are strong enough to dissolve the nutrition needed.
i do a mix of a bit of mayo with a dip of ketcup and french or yellow mustard. and aioli. best condoms there is.
Which butter do you recommend? All I know about is Kerry gold. Is there anything better?
Butter, bacon grease, vinaigrette, mustard, homemade mayo….all good. Plus I often add some lemon juice to things, just a bit. Now I will try the other sauces you mentione. I generally make all my foods and condiments from scratch with healthy ingredients!
0 grams of carbs, not fat in bacon grease. Another great video, thanks
My favorite condiment is Horseradish, add to Sugar Free Ketchup, YUMMERS!!!
Balsamic vinegar. 60 days down 30 pounds, hospital measured. Most weight loss was in last 30 days (23#) after I found this channel and went on strict ‘no carb/ Carnivore /IF and alternate days of complete fast & low salt diet’. Had another heart attack 90 days ago, maybe 10th, cardiac rehabilitation folks think I am somehow cheating, look at the numbers I say, can’t fake those. Do the math and you can figure how it is done. “Oh you have to have carbs” they say AHA & ADA Mediterranean diets are best. ‘Hey gals i did all those plus vegetarian and vegan over the years. This diet plan is working for me’. Plan is to drop another 40 to 50 pounds in the next 2 months getting to 150# my “fighting” weight. Finished cardiac rehabilitation and hitting gym & swim for cardio, resistance, weight machines and laps in pool. Figure I can squeeze another few years out if the heart I have left. Best
Hollandaise Sauce. In the 1970s people used to SMOTHER dishes in that stuff.
I’m not fond of salad dressings, using Caesar salad dressing maybe once every six months.. and occasionally lime juice. That said my keto journey is set to begin in January, and while I don’t mind gravy made from roasting juices, I’m too sensitive to pepper to trust commercial gravies. I love butter, bacon fat and garlic butter… or occasionally just olive oil, with or without fresh, chopped herbs…. so I think I’ll be fine for sauces lol.
What’s your take on dry seasoning that have sugar somewhere in the label is it enough to make a difference? I.e. salt pepper garlic paprika sugar onion powder etc…
What about creaming up a avocado use it in place of mayonnaise
Thank you so much you’ve made transitioning to my new keto lifestyle So much easier
Meal prep is so much easier… I can put together a fantastic meal in a half hour.
Caesar dressing(home made of course), garlic souce, I use a lot of herbs as condiments…the best. Tzatziki sauce….yum
his theory for the sandpapergate by the aussie cricket team is the truth. 😉
I loved mayo as a kid. I would take a piece of bread, slather it with mayo and eat it! My favorite snack!
i need some now since you can only eat steak so many different ways.
Thanks Dr. Berry, for all this info! My fav condiment is curried mayo.
I have been making hollandaise sauce for years. Its a Sunday fave in my house.
HORSERADISH! An MMMmmm wow! ad to mayo or sour cream or even Ranch!
Dr Berry I’m afraid you gave wrong info. Bacon grease DOES have a total gram of fat measurement. It’s not zero grams. If you use 100g of bacon grease that’s close or over 100g total fat.
OMG, you had a fire? I’m so sorry to hear that. I had one that burned my house down, so can relate. Hope you find your bearings and that you and staff are okay and past the trauma now. Its awful.
With regard to bacon, I would use uncured bacon, and I usually soak it overnight to remove excess salts, any nitrates, sulfites, etc. It tastes better that way. Way too salty otherwise, and too many chemicals.
One of my favorite condiments is avocado mashed with non-fat Greek Yoghurt, and flavorings. This yoghurt preserves avocado from turning brown, and adds probiotics to diet. I don’t like the taste of full fat dairy. The bacon grease dressing sounds delicious.
bacon grease greens! I’ve been eating this for years. add a coupleeggsand the baconand you’ve got a meal.
Thanks again Dr Berry!!! I’d love to share my favorite Sunday morning (pre-game warmup) Keto breakfast which consists of a 1/2 Lb of good quality bacon w/o nitrates or nitrides, diced or chopped and tossed into a hot, good sized skillet, cooked for eight minutes or until browned. Then I toss in a half a head of fresh, hand shredded dry Kale (Caution the Kale must be absolutely dry without any moisture to avoid the flash of hot bacon grease and water that’s absolutely going to happen if you don’t dry the Kale first before chopping or shredding).
Saute the bacon and kale until the kale leaves are tender and remove from heat. Fry 2-3 or 4 eggs over-easy or over medium
In good quality butter, seasoning with PHSS, garlic powder and black pepper. Then dish the bacon and Kale onto a plate and place the fried eggs on top. My definition of pure ambrosia and the taste actually reminds me of the flavor of old fashioned shredded potatoe hashbrowns, check it out, It’s totally worth a try!!
I had a boarder line sugar level, dropped the carb, lost 12 lbs and my blood Pressure dropped! I’m sure my sugar will dropped!
I got a stick blender and made my own 4 ingredient mayo in two minutes. I also used some of the mayo to make my own ranch dressing.
I have now watched quite a few of your videos, and I want to thank you for generously sharing all this information, It’s hard for most of us to separate the wheat from the chaff about what is helpful and what is actually very unhelpful,
I recently had my 59’th and since then I’m pretty much falling apart with a sudden onset of a plethora of small injuries and pain which has turned out to be gout. I am used to most of your condiment list except the Butter and Bacon drippings, and that’s due to my wife who I argued with when we were first going out almost 40 years ago that butter was better where she insisted on Margarine, she also doesn’t keep the meat drippings, just won’t, and even though my dad was a chef and always did so, I’ve let her have her way, happy wife happy life, and for a few small compromises it has been. I’m looking to lose 25Kilo’s as I am overweight, and I’ve set a target of achieving that by my 60th, and it was 30 but I’ve already lost 5 in the last month, mostly water I’m told so the hard work is coming. Thanks again for sharing all this info,
Unless by accident or terminal disease your body has a life clock and when it runs out you are dead…nothing you can do about it…..no matter what you eat take do or voo doo dance… when you’re clock stops you are gone.
I love mustard but I am going to try to make my own ranch dressing!
Love Butter, olive oil, but mayo with soybean I do not believe is healthy, but that “green label Veganase,” it is almost as good as “Best Foods mayo.”
My favorite for beef is horseradish mixed into sour cream or folded into unsweetened whipped cream. Add a pinch of salt and a little granulated onion.
I don’t see a link to the mayo that you can buy made with avocado oil.
Several years ago found myself in a really nice hotel restaurant ordering a filet Mignon and the server recommended a Bernardine sauce. My first thought was if the steak is good, no sauce needed right? I took his advice and WOW what an eyeopener! Dr Berry you da man!
I’m your neighbor I grew up in Putnam county in the country. We called that salad killed lettuce. I loved it with fresh green onions in it. We always could not wait in the spring for the greens to come in. We ate the thick cut bacon on the side as our Meat. Was the finest meal you ever ate
Hi I like all of the condiments that you have mentioned, but my favourite has to be creamed horseradish, I make my own and it’s fabulous with Beef steak, or mixed with cream cheese.
French’s Yellow mustard. I watched Chef Michael Smith make a Caesar salad dressing with bacon fat. I would also like to thank you for your videos. I have cut my carb intake drastically in the last 3 weeks. I have an A1C of 7.9 and trying to lower it.
I have to hold on to my head from shaking when I hear nutritionists and doctors call bacon and pork fat healthy especially when in the same breath, they say “you are what your food ate.”
#1. Pigs not only eat SLOP, they will eat it along with their poop!
#2. Pigs eat so fast, they don’t properly digest their food (mixed with poop), so all those TOXINS get STORED IN THEIR FAT!
#3. They don’t sweat, so the TOXINS are also in their MEAT!
But sure, go ahead and have lard and bacon grease and be healthy
Homemade mayo!! Ranch dressing, garlic aioli, jalapeño aioli, vinaigrette and mustard!!
