Half Marathon Training for Beginners: 3 ESSENTIAL Tips!

Ideally, you want to start training for a half marathon at least two to three months in advance. 1 But now that there’s only a month left to go before race day, what can you do to ensure you’re prepared? The answer depends on your current level of fitness.HALF MARATHON TRAINING: ONE MONTH TO GO One month to go to race day, you should be getting comfortable with the race distance and the last month is all about building stamina and strength.
Race week be mindful that the real work has been done in the weeks before, so rest up in the final days before the Big Race Day.See 18-week training plan here » For runners who are looking for an even more gradual buildup to the half marathon than the 16-week plan offers, this five-month training plan starts slowly and builds toward the 13.1-mile race day, with both fourand five-day-a-week runs.Just like you need rest days during the week, recovery weeks are also important to include in your 2 month half marathon training plan. Speaking of recovery, it is vital to include it in your half marathon training schedule.
Running 4 days a week means that there will. This 12-week training schedule developed by Nike+ Run Coach Jes Woods is designed for beginner half marathoners who run three or four times per week and average 10 or more miles per week. That’s a pretty standard level of running fitness—think of it as being able to run 30 minutes at a time, three or four times a week.
Finding and following the right type of training plan for you is an essential component to a successful first half Test out gear and fueling options beforehand so that there are no surprises come race day. Listen to your body during half marathon training—if you feel an injury coming on, address.Four-Week Half-Marathon Training Plan Pick your distance.
The program outlined here is for a half-marathon (13.1 miles), so you should have some pavement It’s not a race — yet. Keep your expectations realistic. Heed the signs.
To reduce the chance of.12-week sub-2.00 half-marathon training plan You should be capable of either a sub-50 10K, a sub-90 10-miler or a sub-4:30 marathon. Training will be five days a week, with an average weekly.Alternate rest days with 3-mile runs during the first week of month one. Finish the first month of training by alternating rest with one day of cross-training and 4-mile runs.
Push for a 7-mile run. This article discusses the traditional three-month build-up. More: How Much Marathon Training Do You Really Need?
As with the crash-course plan, a more traditional marathon build-up of 12 to 14 weeks still requires a basic level of marathon fitness when you begin the program. This is a six-month training plan-26 weeks! If you are currently capable of walking 30 minutes, four days per week, and your doctor okays it, then you can certainly follow this plan to run your first half-marathon as soon as six months from now.
I highly suggest choosing a race at least six months from now, and registering for it now. This plan is perfect if your goal is to walk or walk/run a half marathon that is four weeks away and you’re currently fit enough to comfortably walk/run 5 miles. The plan includes “optional” days, when you have a choice to rest, walk, run or cross-train (XT) with non-impact cardio, such as cycling or elliptical training.
8 Week Half Marathon Training Plan: 2 months to the finish line! This 8 week half marathon training plan is great for a beginner/casual runner! There is no speed work or hill training involved although that can be added to suit your needs if wanted.
Running a half marathon is a lofty goal. Most training plans consist of 12 to 20 weeks of training, so six solid months will give you ample time to build a base and hone your performance. Regular.
20-Week Half Marathon Training Schedule For some runners, the prospect of preparing to run a half marathon in three months is a bit daunting, so we’ve prepared this five-month training plan to offer a more gradual buildup to race day — both physical and mental — than our 12-week beginner and 16-week intermediate training plans offer.

I was training to try and get a sub hour 10k then went out for my long run today and ended up running my first half marathon, 2 hours and 32 minutes. Felt amazing just to run but would love to do a race after covid!
Fell way short of other similar length videos. Could have been done in 2 mins. There are guides but listen to your body and adjust as needed. Cue the music, done.
The strength training bit is key. I’ve been doing a 10K training programme, I neglected my strength training for 2 weeks and my hips started to really hurt.
I’ve started my strength training again. Especially some kettlebell squats and banded good mornings. Hips haven’t bothered me since.
Hope to see you in Houston Sage! You’re an inspiration brother! Good luck!!!
Bugger. I just entered one five weeks away
On the plus side, I’m already running 13 mile runs every over week, and did ten miles this week with no problems. Hopefully I’ll be OK
A lot of grey area about calf sleves on long runs what is your opinion yay or nay?
This video had some really good tips. Do you have any guides on nutrition. What to eat before a long run, during and maybe after please?
Great time! KUDOS for all finishing. I know that last mile is the toughest. Keep up the inspiring videos and getting more and more people involved in positivity. Been watching your videos since you baby sat for Caseys kid. Your videos have a personality that is unique. Keep Looking Up!
Awesome information thank you sir and everyone that make this channel possible for us.
3 hour 35 minute not to shavy you need somewhere to start this shit is actually good first race your just on a slower side well it wont happen for long your technically on a fast side out of all the new runner noob which is great
Request: I’m trainning for a half coming at they end of March, but I feel the shin splints, and even if I’m stand or walking, shins are mad, like getting mad mad, and I do strength and everything, my long runs are of 10mi currently and I feel I’m running out of time but my shins do not allow me more, I’m afraid I’ll get a fracture. Also, I can’t rest at work, my job requires me to stand and walk 80%, and go up and down the other 20% out of 6 hrs I get to sit 20 min. Please make a video that can help me he through this
Why in the titel stand “Non-Runner”. She train regular. Non-Runner for me is a person that don’t do sport. Most people can’t run one ore two miles:D
Im thinking of doing a half marathon by the end of February, im hoping i’ll be okay for it! I try do 5k everyday or 10k everyday & i keep switching!
I checked what Chris Selliga said: Indeed one John Coyne run it. Here is the link: https://results.nyrr.org/event/B2017/finishers#page=18&search=John%2520Coyne
As a runner, I am amazed that despite no focused training albeit with experience in running and being very fit as he could ski and regularly goes to the gym, he is able to run that fast. Congratulations.
Littlelambdh@ gmail.com I’m beginning my first half marathon training! If you’re still providing the free guide, I’d love one
i just ran my first time half marathon few hours ago..and my time was 2 hours 33 minutes….hehehe not bad for first timmer
I enjoy rock climbing and I still want to do it occasionally even as I am training. Can I incorporate rock climbing as part of my strength training?
Hi if you are a fit person who runs 5km 3 days a week and visit the gym 3 days a week is 6 weeks enough time to prepare for a half marathon
Hey I really enjoy and learn from your videos and will love to have the free training guide.. I’m 42 years old and that half marathon is on my bucket list. Lol.. Please send to beckelec@ gmail.com and thank you for your support
Any recommendations for IT Band Syndrome and Glute Medius issues? Got up to 7 miles, but then started having severe issues as prefaced. Thanks for the help!
I just want to say that I absolutely hate the opening theme to your channel.
Nice modelling group.. marathon I guess self beliefs..will get ul there..some how this doesn’t appear ture
Thank you Sage for tips. Information shared by you is very helpful.:)
I’m a total newbie to running. I quit drinking alcohol 9 months ago due to the fact that I was way too dependant on it. I’m 45 and had been drinking heavily for about 28 years (drunk every night more or less drinking about three quarters of a litre bottle of gin a night and a few ciders to go with it. I wasn’t very well for the first two weeks or so, and I struggled badly to keep occupied so that I didn’t think so much about drinking. I found some hobbies to pass the time like learning French and Spanish and playing keyboards. The last few months I’ve found that going for long walks has helped clear my head and I’ve started to eat much better (I never used to eat when I was drinking) and after quitting smoking as well I’ve got BAGS and BAGS of energy. Tonight, I decided to break into a run during a walk. I actually ran non stop for two miles. I have NEVER done that in my adult life. I felt SOOOO GOOOD afterwards and that’s why I’m here. I want to learn more about running and training for half marathons. Despite basically being an unfit, sluggish alcoholic I always wanted to run a half marathon. One of my dreams when I was much younger was to run the Great North Run here in the UK. I’m now thinking about that again/ My ultimate goal at the moment though is to run the Kilimanjaro Half Marathon. I’m aiming to run it in 2021. I think next February/March will be too early for me. I’m going to do this!
Got to put the time into it….leg time is important…even walking for 2 hours here and there
Hey! I’ve been watching many of your videos on YouTube.
Quick question: Is it okay to run 2 marathons 2 weeks apart?
I’m running my 1st marathon ever on Jan 5th, 2020. Planning to run the other on Jan 20th. Is this recommended?
(Going to run 1st half Marathon this Saturday)
Just ran my first half marathon and it was absolutely an absolutely terrible experience. Not because of the marathon but because of my stupid self. I was cocky as fuck, trained about a 1-2 weeks and thought it was gonna wasn’t gonna be that hard but boy I possibly couldn’t be more wrong!! My gameplan was to go slow and warm up the first 2k, then rush for 7k, slow down for 5k and rush the last 7k on pure willpower. So basically that plan went right out of of the window as I though I was going slow enough when I was suppose to go slow but in reality I was only going a few second slower. So I basically just blasted through the first 12k still feeling “okay” and going faster than I thought. But man..the sun was shining hard and somewhere in km 13-14 I was like: “Okay this not good, I have to slow a lot or otherwise I won’t be able to make this thing without stopping”.
So I went slower and in the next km, I had slow down tremendously and slow down even more and more, that’s when I knew I fucked myself in the ass. Then fucking grandpa’s and woman started passing me left and right, which absolutely sucked since I told myself beforehand I wouldn’t be that guy that slow down the second half and gets bypassed by everyone, and exactly that happened. So finally I thought I collected enough energy retain a normal runs speed again for the last 4k. Those last 3-4k was the worst fucking run experience I’ve ever had, it was like I was in fucking hell, the only things on my mind were that I wanted to get this fucking shit over with as quickly as possible and all the things I was going to eat and drink after this whole mess.
Anyway my main tip fir first timers is: Don’t be fucking cocky*, actually do the fucking training if you’re gonna try to run it fast. Otherwise you *WILL find yourself in a world of hurt and regret, and it’s not fucking fun.
Hello Lara, I had a 9 month stay in a mental health hospital in 2017, my recovery is on going, I love watching your inspirational messages. Thank you xxx
Do you have the exact song name by chance? Feels like a great tune to run to
well done sir, you should make longer videos!
https://youtu.be/8-KNc8fKLNY guys this is my first running vlog of a mile workout. i would truly love your feedback to improve content. hope you guys enjoy!
I made use of this marathon training “Zοrοtοn Axy” (Google it) in my half marathon training, and only used Six weeks of the schedule provided, and ran a PR! I`m presently utilizing it for my marathon training courses, and am running much better training runs as compared to previous marathon training courses. I ran another half during my marathon training courses, and set another PR..
So, a company sponsored the entire trip, the gear, and I got not a single tip about the Preparation portion of the challenge. Why did I watch this?
My biggest improvement came when I found a good physiologist / Chiropractor. Transformed my strength training + mechanics.
Been running now for 5 years. Im ready. I think. 58 years old. run 15 to 20 miles a week and strength train a lot. I’m a little nervous about my joints and back. Not a lot of pain just when I hit that 8 mile mark. I recover ok, but still, if I cant finish 13 miles, it will be a bummer. Im doing it regardless. Anyday before the run tips? Should I take any over the counter pain meds before my run? Leg me Know…………..
I agree. Listen to your body and you end up climbing 35 floors Broadgate like me in 25 minutes. Stairclimbing helps running.
Yeah you don’t know how you’re body is going to respond to training so setting a plan is a bad idea, unless you add recovery time and disobeying the plan to the plan…
hi im doing full marathon this year when say doing my easy pace want would an easy mile be im doing 7 minutes 30 i do 50 miles a week love your videos
Love your videos. You’re a great communicator with a wonderful personality, and so knowledgeable. Thanks so much! I’m going to crush my first 25k!
Something missing here….You must be running or previous to this? People train all year and still only get sub 4 hours.
First time I’ve heard an American say crighky ( not sure of spelling), thought it was a British thing.
Great advice, working up the courage to apply for a half marathon next year
How much did i spend on training for a half marathon in 30 days
Loved the video, it’s made me want to go back to running, and yes, if you’re not having fun, you’re doing something wrong!
Attempting my first half marathon soon. Thanks for this video, I know it’s a few years old now but still really helpful
You are doing mighty good work there Master Jack! Congrats! ☮️☮️
omg what an insane story! love love love this video and the editing is gorgeous!
Over 1 million subscribers to 190k is all you really need to know, next.
Man, I wish I was still young enough to do full-on crazy and incredibly foolhardy sh!t like this and live to tell the tale. Suck the marrow from the bones of life while you have the chance, Jack. All-in-all, a very respectable performance!
Well, thanks to The Run Experience for all advices and quick tips. I did it, 1h52’46’’ in the Half marathon of Paris.
This is a bucket list thing for me. I have no cartilage in my left knee. I want to do this for the Great Smoky Mountain (National Park) 1/2 Marathon and 5K. I know I won’t be able to run it but am planning on walking (speed) it. Any suggestions for preparation or precautions, knee wraps, etc that can help with impact or knee pressure? (I’m not a medical doctor btw…)
Uhhh her name is morgan isnt she a girl morgan is a boy name
This is my first half marathon,i am 47,I’ve been at the gym on and off for around 10 years. I have always wanted to run a half marathon but thought I was two old, through the support of my family, i have been training, running 4 to 6 miles 5 to 6 days a week for 2 MONTHS. I’ve lost 10 pounds and feel amazing while training, does it get easier and what advise can u give me for my first half marathon which is only 4 weeks away
I have 2 races 6 weeks apart so it’s starting to get to me now
I am running a half marathon Sept 30th of this year. I would really like some help on getting started. This was a great video!
I’ve decided that I want to run a half marathon and have 10 months to prepare for it. I’m currently out of shape and started running recently but it’s been very difficult. I’ve been running / walking 2 miles a day and averaging 28 minutes. Would love to get some tips. I’ve also started doing some CrossFitworkouts in my garage gym.
There is so much advice on the Internet sites about what to wear and about not going out to fast why didn’t you do research and study before the marathon? You are such a slug.
My first half marathon was 7 months ago when i was 14 and now i m 15 with another half marathon…..wish me luck!
Hey I’m running my first half marathon in little over a month from now. When you started when did you start to increase the distance?
such an awkward nerd, but ur face hole spits out some good knowledge at least.:/
nice video! I just signed up for a Half Marathon, 3/3/2019! I have never ran in my life, I am 6,2 and about 185lb. 30yo. I was able to run 2miles @21 minutes today (today is the day1!), lets see how it goes!! I am open to all the ideas, from the youtuber or the followers…!
Great Video, What do you think about cycling? One of my workouts is a 7k ride to the place i like to run (and back of course, so 15k on the bike, usually at 80% workout, cause traffic)… From there i can run 6k or 10k or more. How should i think about how that ride fits into my weekly milage?
Your videos are so motivating. I’m running 10K in a few days yet I’m motivated to get fitter and run further. Thanks for talking to us like normal people, and not like we’re Olympic athletes!
Great advice, thank you! The half marathon I’m thinking about is in 10 months, so hopefully that will be enough time!
Absolutely agree with you … we have to listen to our body than a fix training plan schedule. I started running 3 months ago, 3 times a week 5 to 10 km, on 21th August 2018 I got an Half Marathon slot from a friend who could not attend already closed registration of Maybank Bali Marathon on 9th September 2018. It was my virgin Half Marathon and I finished it for 2 hours 24 minutes (BIB 50973), at my 55 years old.
I plan to run Full Marathon next year, but the nearest event I enrolled an 16 relay of 170K Ultra Marathon,
my route will run a 10 K continue uphill road with elevation gain 500 m, is there any tips for running it? Thanks a lot.
Sorry, but without a plan you will get hurt!!! I ran half and full marathons with a plan and NEVER had any problems. Now, at almost age 70, running in Cuenca, Ecuador..at a much higher altitude..no problems, it was never about who was faster or better than I. The beauty of a runner is all about how we run…enjoying the run. Those who never run will never understand that.
The storytelling and editing is on point man! You definitely made sure to learn as much as possible from Casey!!
interesting points,if anyone else wants to learn about how to improve your running endurance try Sarparder Running Expert Starter (do a search on google )? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my work buddy got amazing results with it.
This video is two years old but the advice is still great! I can barely run 5k atm, but wanted to know a realistic timeline to eventually run a half marathon (and maybe one day a marathon). This video helped! Thankfullly I already have a fait bit of strength training under my belt so that will be an advantage.
A half marathon is not far AT ALL! It’s like not even a third of a marathon…
I’m running since the last 3 months and I did all the things you mentioned intuitively before I watched your video. Superb and accurate tips.
I’m training for my first marathon in New York City.
How many days off. Am I rest my sore ankle without wrecking the training plan. Thanks!! Lynore
These guys are great! I started running 5k 12 months ago. I am now 58 years old and just ran in my first half marathon in Bali Indonesia in 2hours and 45 minutes.
I ran a my first half marathon last year and done it in 2:09. Im doing the same one again in 11 weeks and I haven’t even started training for it! I would love to get under 2 hours this year but even that is not enough to motivate me! I’m really struggling to motivate myself and get my arse into gear!
Hi Nate, just had a quick look on Youtube for a video about going from 10k to a Half Marathon distance. I couldn’t really find anything specifically relating to it. Any tips or video recommendations?
Why do people try so hard to talk with their hands and move their hands a ton in youtube videos
Hello, thanks for the video. It was informative.
I have a question for anyone who can answer how long after a half marathon is it advisable to have sexual relations? I plan to run my third half marathon in a different city and my SO will be with me. Both of us will be happy after I complete my race I just wanted to know how long I should wait, before I celebrate my happiness with her. Thank you.
I’ve had two ACL surgeries on the same leg, I can easily run 5 miles in under 45min. I’d say I’m more of a weight lifter than a runner. I want to do a half marathon by the end of summer if not sooner. How should I train? I currently have 3 gym day, 2 run, 1 ruck, 1 cycle, and 1 rest day as my program
“It never gets easier, you just go faster.” – Greg Lemond, winner of the 1986, 1989, and 1990 Tours de France cycling championships
For runners, tip #1. DO NOT TRY VIRTUAL HALF OR FULL MARATHON VIRTUAL Human Failure could happen at anytime meaning no guarantee having a medal. It is what is is, so I suggested to do it on the main event Start Line by person, if you can’t make it then do it next time, save money, time, and energy, injury-free. Updated: 02/06/2020
I watch this video for 0:28 seconds and i see “half marathon time 1h04m”. That’s how far i run 10K!!??!!! holy smokes…
Mate, that title is not a good idea for people who want to start running, you obviously had previous training! It is impossible to train for a marathon in 2 weeks starting from zero shape
Thank you Sage! Im listening to you Im going to add tempo runs
Hey, I dont understand one thing with my legs that if I start running or jogging from the start of the workout itself, my calf becomes hard and I have sore ankles within a km, but if I start the running after 4kms of briskwalking, legs are fine. For your info I am training from last 2 months.
If you had run 8:13m/mil you would have finished around 3h 34m. The fact that it took you just under 4h (still a good time) proves that something is not right here.
Being a sprinter I am quite surprised that I just ran a half marathon.
Running my fist half tomorrow… finished a 20k in just over 2hrs. Pray I am ready♂️♂️
Bruh I can’t even walk 10 steps without being out of breathe… (Not rlly but I can’t walk far)
ive got a half on sunday with no real training plan. ive ran every week since march 2017 starting out with the couch to 5k. i mostly do weekly 5k jogs(faster if i do parkrun) and maybe a 10k or longer on a sunday. im not particularly fast but and would like to get under 2 hours for my first one. i believe i can stick to a 5:40 per km pace which is quite a comfortable pace for me but its just the unknown of running that far!! it could easily turn jelly legged after 15k lol
Guten Tag means ‘good day’ aka Hello and I could understand it so it was great how you pronounced it:))
I had a heart condition growing up but it’s gone now. However I can barely run for 5 mins straight
I’m 11 years old and doing a half marathon soon, wish me luck!
Good video but would really appreciate if there is a longer detailed information
what pros don’t get is their easy miles is intense training by anyone’s standards. my easy pace would be pretty pointless, I may as well walk
I’m ok with the clickbait title. What blows me away is how Jack could run almost as fast as Casey, when Jack hardly runs. Jack, you have a great set of lungs!
A sis with back pain and knee pain. I’m so happy, I don’t feel alone anymore!
I`m training for my full marathon with the aid of this marathon training program “Zοrοtοn Axy” (Google it). I now have a much improved plan to start again. I conducted 5K`s and 10K`s and half marathons and decided to take the next huge step towards the full marathon, and I also discovered a good deal from this book. I strongly recommend this fantastic training..
Hello, thanks for the video. It was really informative.
I have a question for anyone who can answer how long after a half marathon is it advisable to have physical relations with a partner? I plan to run my third half marathon in a different city and my SO will be with me. Both of us will be happy after I complete my race I just wanted to know how long I should wait, before I celebrate my happiness with her. Thank you.
Lmao Heineken isn’t a German beer. It’s actually from the Netherlands
To run in NYC Marathon you have to compete in other events to get the score
This marathon training courses “Zοrοtοn Axy” (Google it) got me through my first marathon without injury and I met my sub 4hr target. The book gives plenty of great info about training courses, diet plan, technique, and so on. but the very useful page in the whole book is the training schedule which informs you how far to run on what day..
I love how you’ve run a half marathon in the same time it took me to do a 10k!
Garbage advice
Whatever the distance is that you plan on running you should double that for your weekly mileage total
This is encouraging! I have been wanting to train for a half marathon for some months now and am encouraged that you trained for 30 days before you did it.
I love what you said about being able to do anything if you put the work in and surround yourself with good like-minded people. I’m currently on my lunch break thinking about my work duties when I return, I was already pumping myself up to seize the rest of the day, this is good.
You are inspiring!
Thanks for the good tips, i did my first half in 1 hour and 43 mins. Next goal is 1:38 in 2 months!
Hi Sage..a fan of yours. Can u update the links quoted in the video? Cheers
She didn’t say she runs marathons. She said. “Both my parents are athletes and HAVE run many marathons and triathlons
HAHA “oh my ankle, oh my ankle, oh my ankle”
That seriously is a tough thing though, no need to apologize, your videos are great to watch:) Keep taking care of yourself! I look forward to hearing about the race
I\’m not sure but,if anyone else is searching for how to run a marathon try Niposcu Complete Running Adviser (do a google search )? Ive heard some great things about it and my brother in law got amazing success with it.
the clickbaity title makes it seem as if you can go from 0-26.2 miles in two weeks and run a marathon in less <4hours....... I mean your "First" run was 8miles in 1 hour........ This is not someone getting off the couch and learning to run. You should have disclosed what your running habits are at the begining of the video
Look at how young Bullwinkle looks in this video! Okay, I’m trying to do a high mileage week this week. So far so good, mostly. But today, I woke up late. Tough to wake up in the morning. I have noted that on my new Hoka Clifton 4 shoes that I have been using for road miles, that there is wear on the outside edge of the heel, which would be good for me to find out what part(s) of my runs were causing that. Maybe Rocky could ride her bike and film me with my action camera particularly my lower legs so that I can figure out what part of my run that is happening. Though I am fairly certain that it is from the downhills that are steeper. Would appreciate Rocky helping me to confirm that though. As I suspect that on some downhills I am putting on the brakes with the heel a bit. Thus scraping the outside edge of the heel. Most of the other parts of my run I think that I am not rubbing the outside edge of the heel. Confirmation would be good.
Okay, I have not been doing any track workouts because of not really having a good track to run on or access to a track. But that is of course a good thing to consider.
when I am training for my Half Marathon and I push myself to run 11:30m/m instead of 12:15 to 12:30m/m I tend to get pain in my plantar fascia area. any info on how to fix this issue?
I love this, this year I ran my first Half Marathon, now on my 3rd Half
30 Days marathon Training then finished at 5hrs 32mins? Im running for 3 years yet my Fastest Marathon time is 6:02
the part about running form intrigues me. I have been running for many years (but never as a full blooded runner). I am around 87 kg and 187 cm. One of my achievements is running 3k in 10 min 30 sec @93 kg. I also finished top 10 in a half marathon with 1500m climb. My legs (bicycle fitting style) is a bit over 90 cm. I used several years to adjust to a 180 step per minute stride by running with a metronome ticking in my ear. After the last 6 months of bringing this metronome mp3 player with me to the gym every time I warm up for weightlifting on a treadmill, I figured I could go without it when the season for running outside was coming and I was injury free. So, I did some weeks with a long run in the woods every week. Guess what happened, my stride went back to what it used to be all those years back. I am a muscular guy, so I run kinda fast on the treadmill on the warmups for my weightlifting (usually 10-20 minutes in 15+ kph). This means that my steplength is adjusted for that speed and when I go out for 1-2 hour runs I am not able to maintain that 180 stride per minute because I am used to a certain steplength. I guess my question is, can you be an allround fitness person and still strive for 180 steps per second, or is this just for you ultralight-only-long-distance runners? Even my soccer coach from 20 years ago told me I had a huge steplength.
I love bodyweight exercises because it matches well with how running keeps your weight down… should I get into triathlons because I have all this free muscleweight in my back and on quads, or should I restrict myself to running quick 3k competitions, or maybe specialize in hill running? I am not that into specializing, but it seems you cant really stand out in any way unless you do and crossfit just seems like another religion. Sorry for the long rant. Any thoughts or comments would be cool.
edit: here’s a soccer analogy (if anyone is watching the world cup): zlatan/ronaldinho vs messi/maradona -> notice how their running form is different. can we really say that one is better than the other? even this forefoot running-fad has been debunked.
Hi sage, thanks for the video. Just wonder if is there any difference between this tips between half and the full marathon? It seems that it applies to both
Watching a bunch of these videos the get some inspiration for my half marathon next month. Great job ladies!!❤️
Hi Sage, followed your half marathon plan and run 84:43 which was over a 3minute PR! Thank you.
Good evening Lara how’s training going and how is your ankle holding up not long now with so many steps to reach the finish line going to be a great run just hope the weather holds up on the day we will all be sending the warmth your Direction.
I really want to donate money to your page but i have no money whatsoever
Ok I’m doing my first half marathon in 2019 and iv set my self a time of 3 hrs. I know I can do 10 miles in just over 2 hrs and can run 5 k in 30 mins. Is this a good time to set for myself
Started with 5k, then 4 miler, then 10k, then trail race, then OCRs, now half marathon, the challenge keeps getting bigger thanks to you!!
I am not understanding ur language please tel me hindi india
This is great but please don’t start training for a half marathon 30 days before the race, it’s a recipe for injury!!
Well shoot, I already run xc and I’m already doing most of this. Guess I should be set for a half marathon lol
Maybe a quick video idea:When living in a place with race seasons going from April-Oct, what is a good plan for off season training? Things to work on when you don’t have a race coming up or for people that transition into a different sport for part of the year. I play basketball and officiate high school basketball in the winter, so running gets put on a back burner for time commitment during the off season. Need some ideas for things I can work on that won’t take up as much time as in season training that will help me when basketball is over and I start revving up for that first April half marathon.
Sage your videos are single handily the BEST source of information about running that caters to all ages, and all experiences. I find your content to be the main source to my running improvement. Which is the best workout for a half marathon? two mile repeats, Yasso 800’s or the classic long or tempo run? Love it brotha cheers to more miles.
Do you recommend adding in the race specific workout like tempo runs and sprints only after you’ve built up to a certain goal weekly mileage or can they be performed simultaneously?
like team trained a half marathon in 30 daysLike to see trined, my dear Klos❤️✈️
Loved the video! Except 3.30hrs is insane! I never ran (in fact I did the opposite) and did a the kilimanjaro marathon with 12 weeks training and a knee injury in 5.54hrs. Full story on how on my channel…
What’s a good recommended mile Bass for people to start off if they’ve never really exercise before
Title:Non runner
Me:But we all run
My siblings and parents
I have a question Iam 15 years is it healthy for me to run half a marathon?
That’s so cool. I currently training to run a marathon. I actually started in January, with no condition whatsoever, and being a chubby f*ck. I was hardly able to run for 5 minutes. And believe me. It gets better with time. Today I sign up for half marathon that is happening in month’s time. A day before my best mate’s wedding.:D That was a weird flex.:P
I would love to have a free training guide. I want to do a half in November in Victoria, BC. I am at [email protected] a
Awesome tips. I’ve been running for 20 years, in the beginning I used to follow my body more, and It’s true it’s a best indicator than a training plan.
Also agree with the tip to strength core to help a better running.
Thank you and keep the good job please
As a preparation for my first marathon, I read as well as followed this particular marathon training “Zοrοtοn Axy” (Google it). My goal was a sub-4 hour marathon and I got it. Used this training plan to the last detail and had the confidence I needed on race morning to have thru 26.2 miles. It`s a great feeling in order to reach that goal. Committed runners should try it too..
Super useful! this gets me so stoked for the spring season here in Norway speed workout once the snow clears:)
How do you all think working out everyday is not a normal average person thing? It’s not like you have to do a crazy psycho intense workout daily but like damn y’all should be doing something every day
Thanks a lot for, Sage, for this interesting video! May I add a very simple, often overlooked tip. Try to follow the ideal racing line by all means. According to my very accurate Garmin GPS I was running 21.42 k at my last half marathon and even 21.48 k at my second last half marathon (instead of 21.1 k), only because I did not follow the ideal race line (mainly because of the crowd of other runners). So this tip can save you minutes!
I just completed my first ever race today which was a half marathon. I couldn’t even run one mile last year. Over this past year I’ve watched your videos over and over again for tips and inspiration. Thank you so much for everything!
I’m trying to beat my previous PB which 1.19.45.
I love to break 1.19 wall. But I am struggle when it come nutrition side. How foods are better for keep you going and strong, how to avoid over eating particular food or must have food after and before run. I am 182cm runner. So I an trying to my weight down, maybe 10st around 65kg.
If you could give some advice would be greatful.
Lol I run to stay in shape I could do sub 1:30 half marathon and I don’t care
I’m 6’2 255lbs and run a marathon in 4hrs30mins. Around 6mph pace. Its not too hard to complete if you eat right during the race and hydrate constantly. Once you have experienced the pain cave, you can be a lot more comfortable in it.
Karlie Knossos if you see this comment I want your pink nike shoes and your black long socks
Sir i am begginer and i want to complete half marathon in 1 hours please guide me
I trained in 6 days but my time was awful. Congrats Klossy
Glad you are feeling better now, though not being able to hit targets can be stressful or annoying, your body comes first and i am delighted that you mentioned so at the end. Get better soon!
Next video will be, tetrapeligic swims across the Atlantic. Attachs floaters and realeses the poor bastard into the ocean. BuzzFeed your videos are a joke this days
But how about RESULTS!? Just showing off your brand new sportswear… dissapointed.
The fact that she loves running and coding just makes me love her..
I’ve done a full marathon in 2013 and I’m about to do my 4th half marathon however it’s been just about 5 years since my last one. I watch your content to refresh my memory since I ran cross country and track from 7th-12th(2014) I feel back in love with the sport
Sorry to say! If your watching this DON’T DO THIS TRAINING! Jack’s fitness levels are really strong! that’s why he did a marathon in under 4 hours. Please anyone running for the first time stick to a training plan or don’t run. You will get injured.
interesting points,if anyone else wants to discover how to run a marathon try Sarparder Running Expert Starter (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now )? Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my neighbor got excellent success with it.
Let’s be honest. If you can train for a marathon in two weeks, you don’t need training anymore. You’re already fit enough.
OMG, as a marathon runner myself, I am so appreciative for people like you, who spread the word and the power and the energy of running! thx for sharing this with us! If my friends don’t believe me, they most certainly would believe you! ✌️
Stop saying your in pain. Its mind over matter. Your mind is messing with you. Block out the baby talk. Set a pace and run. Get into a comfort zone. I dont want to hear any more pain talk
Hey Karlie, I think you’re a very positive role model this is why you should tell your brother in law to close the immigrant camps. Please use the influence you have! Don’t take it for granted you can do a lot here. #girlboss
I think he is a pretty accomplished skier so he already has great cardiovascular health
Fake! He’s basically rubbing in his fastest timing in a asshole way! Kinda a dick move! Lmao
I wish I had a running group like this:( I just run on my own. I would probably perform much better if I ran with others.
Preparing to run a half in 30 days proves you have no real desire to perform. Incredibly foolish, naive and arrogant. A 5k training block is a minimum of 6 weeks.
For everyone out there, thinking about doing such thing…I am not here to discourage you, only to say, that it is dangerous…if you have never run such long distance, training for 30 days is just not enough time, and you could hurt yourself…30 days is not enough time even for someone who runs regularly, or has run a marathon…unless you have a trainer who will guide you, and a strong athletic backround without injuries, it is not safe to do
Literally just vlogged myself doing this very thing…. although I couldn’t run a single mile without stopping when I started so the fact you blasted out 47 miles in 2 weeks of training shows perhaps you’re somewhat of a runner or much fitter than i was ♂️
Well done buddy
Pro tip: train every day and shuffle your training, by that I mean you have to swim 2 times a week run 3 times a week and go to the gym 2 times a week, and one free day.
After 2 weeks you will see a big improvement
“Nothing gets easier, you just get stronger” i love this woman
As someone who has run 5 marathons and trained thoroughly for all of them I’m not sure if I should be annoyed or super impressed by this. Great job
I had been able to prepare for my half marathon training making use of this marathon training “Zοrοtοn Axy” (Google it). I ran a PR even if I just only used 6 weeks of the given schedule! I`m now preparing for my marathon training use the guide, and now my training runs have become a lot better than my previous marathon training courses. Throughout my marathon training program, I was able to run another half and set another PR..
bro I’ve been running a long time, last time I had an 8 minute mile pace was when I was in college. How the hell can you sustain that with only 2 weeks of training?
Is it just me or are half marathons and marathons hard when you’re between being overweight and obese
I’m doing a half marathon on Sunday most I’ve ran in past 4 months is 3km and I’m sick so haven’t been to school either
Hello there. Just discovered your channel.
I’ve been on the keto diet for the past 2 months, and into my 4th week in the gym.
I’m pleased to say that I have lost over around 17lbs in weight.
I was a fairly strong distance runner up until my early thirties, I’m 45 now and have been mainly inactive up until now.
I have signed up for a half marathon that takes place in just over 2 months time.
I’m doing mainly conditioning training in the gym.
Anyway to the point. At what stage should I be running over 10 miles in my training (currently doing one 5 mile run a week)?
And what do you recommend as a pre comp meal?
Great video, and I notice you’ve posted one about plantar fascitis, can’t wait to watch that I regret to say.
I loved the Boston marathon
Can i still run for half marathon for the first time if i only have 1 week to prepare? I believe i’m fit enough i do work out 3 times a week but not running. But i wanna try my first ever half marathon so im planning to do running in 1 week straight. Any thoughts on this?
Anyones thats ran half marathons or done cross country knows this video doesn’t add up. I believe you finished the marathon but even friends that did cross country in college that try to bounce back in 2 weeks cant do that well. Theyll finish it, but no criticism here, I believe you finished a marathon. My guess is 2 weeks will get you ready for maybe 15 miles but the miles get harder after that. Wouldve been cool if you provided recorded stats from a Nike app for the runs you did in your 2 weeks. Still, congrats! Finishing a marathon is still an amazing accomplishment
Come to Australia!!!! Get Adidas to sponsor you in the Melbourne Marathon! You’re inspiring me to get off my butt and run!
I would love to be a part of your group. You’ve inspired me to train for my first ever half marathon and register for the event. Thanks❤️
Such a nice vlog with a very interesting content! I’m subscribing!
Damm i hate people who have it all, beauty, personality and health. Good luck with your attempt.
This makes me think I could actually try running a marathon someday. Thanks for helping me see that it’s possible for so many of us to work toward!!
Nuts to running…I ran in my youth and had my knees and ankles crackle and I was thin. I would run as a young adult and the same thing happened and I was a mover and very strong and well conditioned. Now that I am in my mid 30s, I just walk. My knees and ankles can’t take the pounding on the roads even with running shoes. It’s my joints that give way before muscles and endurance do.
She’s complaining about 55 degrees being bad while I’m out here running in -2 degree weather
i’ll be running my first half marathon in November. can you share the training routine in details please as the cut off time is 2 hour and half to the the finisher tee
Workout of any type can be quite challenging and sweaty but the feeling after it is always divine
Nothing Gets Easier, You just Get Stronger Quote of the Day By Karlie I Luv ❤ U so Much
She looks stupid…. That’s what happens when you have extra gold genes ( you become spoiled)
Dear did you know marathon man(Male/Female) some people call them tuna fish!
Regular person lmaoooo this is a person who works out multiple times a day bro. Try someone who DOESNT work out
Thank you Coach Sage. I’ll have my 3rd mini-marathon race this coming Sunday. For the past 6 weeks, I Ve been running 5-6km 5 days a week together with Yoga aiming for my first half-marathon by the end of the year. Been watching your clips everyday before my practice. They are very helpful and inspiring.
I like the fun energy of team Klossy and this whole video
Dunkin Donuts after a marathon, I knew I liked the Kloss for a reason
I’m more amazed at what you did 24 before the run. I’d be terrified!
karlie, have you read that doing marathons can leave you with a substantively smaller brain at the end….if you havent, now you know.
Thanks for tips bruh, deff need to plan out my long run, cause I just went for a blind run and got lost haha plus it started to pour raining. Good thing I brought my gopro with me so I can share my experience haha
I heard that you ran the brooklyn halfmarathon a few years ago, so not completly unprepared
Your first marathon? Jesuschrist my ass….lol with all respect that pace is not for no beginners! Props to you!
She’s an average person. She’s just not a lazy person
If you follow Jack on Strava, it does show little to no prior training before the two week prep. I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt. Strong pace bud.
Do you have any tips on how to dress for a half marathon?? I’ll be doing my fist half marathon in November at Las Vegas, NV. I enjoyed this video. Thanks
Great video!! Doing my first half marathon in June and it’s my first race…. I’ve been running for years and though why not….
Congratulations. Great time! You obviously have a good base of fitness already
This is epic. Surprised I didn’t see this earlier. Hopefully your NYC marathon goes great dude
you almost hit the same pace for the marathon that you ran during your first 8mi run. but the first run was in the hills, so you were already a good runner before, weren’t you? I will start to run next week, had an ankle injury but was in good shape before, so i am curious where I will stand: will start with 5k, work towards 10k and if i feel comfortable I will do 20km after a week or so
Well this gives me inspiration! I have a 10K in 2 weeks and I’ve only ever ran 4 miles….so I’m pretty sure if you guys can do 13 I can add 2 miles to my current run. Lol
Thank you for your video. I will start training for a half marathon in May. I am a natural sprinter who has put a lot of weight on. What should I do for pre-training, nutrition etc?
Jack, didn’t you finish the Airbnb Brooklyn Half Marathon in May 2017 in 1:39?
Im impressed. You must have really strong legs. Im sure you are a healthy guy in general. Good job! Did you eat any calories during the run?
Jack I really love your videos because they are real and authentic. But this one just totally kills it for that. Your authenticity is gone and this video is complete clickbait. Anyone that has run for a period of time knows this, and it is very misleading for those that think maybe they can run a 3:30 marathon with 2 weeks of training
Wanting to run a half marathon by January 2020! Starting running on July 1st!
8:13min/mile pace with 2 weeks of training haha. Hmmmm…I’m training for my first marathon that’s going to take place in Nov 2019, and hoping to get a sub 3:00 result. Will start sharing my training experience on this channel. Thanks for great video tho
Ayeee that 2 lil seconds of Machel Montano at the gym!!! Caribbean people show yourself!
8:13 miles not too bad for first marathon and 2 weeks training. Good job Jack
you also forgot to mention that you have done a half marathon in 2014 so have some prior training. this is no couch potato to marathoner in 2 weeks..very misleading for some people that think its that easy to run a marathon
Hi Sage, I’m training for a half marathon that goes through mainly hill-y trails. I have my trail runners that I hike and run trails in, but my training is not always on trails. Additionally, I will be doing three weeks on training on a treadmill in December. Thoughts on training on pavement in trail runners?
THIS IS NOT A GOOD IDEA. She definitely busted butt and did an amazing job however, without proper training, and/or good coaches you will get serious injuries. That being said, if you want to train for marathons/triathalons/other long runs, go for it!! But don’t hurt yourself.
You did not deserve a spot in our beloved NYC Marathon if you didn’t even respect it enough to properly train for it. There are so many runners who wanted your spot and who deserved your spot. NOT fair to real runners.
There’s no way you can do 3:30 only training for two weeks, still loved the video, had fun watching it
3:35 for 2 weeks training, come on this is clickbait my friend. I mean two weeks training starting from being able to run half marathon maybe….
I ran a 5k a couple years ago. I just signed up for a half marathon and it starts in 14 days! I know I will finish, but I know I may be last lol
One thing leads to another
Fake ass bitch who rides on referred subs……………….you aint earned shit you unoriginal fuck.
this video’s energy is infectiousloved it and love the strong female representation you bring to youtube Karlie!
This is a really cool video, and to the people that are thinking he never ran prior before this then that’s just ridiculous. He has most likely been a casual runner before this but marathon training is extremely different from casual running. Much much more mileage and a different type of running training. So yea that’s how a “Casual Runner Trained For A Marathon In 2 Weeks”. if he wasn’t a runner prior to the training….the training for the marathon is suicide.
What a fake video. As you can read in all the comments its not possible to train for a marathon and you wont be able to just get up and do a 8 mile run like its nothing. what a faker
Sub 4? (Meaning running a marathon within 4 hours)
I have been running for the past 10 years and my first marathon in thunderstorm had me finishing in over 6 hours. My best running time was 27 minutes for 5k before that. I don’t know where went wrong but what Jack did is way beyond the average runner. If you can finish your first marathon within 5 hours. Give yourself a big Pat behind your back. 6 hours aint bad at all.
I have trained 2 months now for half-marathon 9.9.2018 about 40km/week. Now I do most km maybe 60km/week. Longest run so far was 21.1km that was 2:10 at conversation pace.
I have usually weak point after 17km so that’s why longer long runs. Short runs faster than long runs like 5-8km little faster than marathon pace. My best now 1:53 and age 52. but now I try 5:00/km or faster so under 1:45 like previous race but the route was too hard hills and gravel etc.
And so tempo runs faster than race goal? 20-40min is about time for those? Maybe 4:50/km?
In the last weeks of your half marathon training, what do you do before your race day?
Thanks for the great videos! Can you do a video on the best clothing/gear choices for winter marathon running?
come do the Boston marathon lets see if you think that one is fun lol
What sunscreen do you wear while out on a long run like this?
Haha that burger bite at the end is legendary big props to you for completing in such a good time!
Bless this girl because I’m running one in a month too and this shows me it’s doable. LOOOL
Nicely done! For anyone thinking about doing this, notice he could already run 8 miles pretty quick to begin with. He may not have been running prior, but he’s been building cardio somehow. If you aren’t already fit you can’t do this.
I’m a runner and when I started I could run for about 2 minutes before needing to walk. I was in very bad shape but not fat. It took 6 months before I did an 8 mile run at about 11 mintue pace.
“Don’t follow a plan. Let a plan follow you.” I am using TrainAsOne AI running app to have a plan that follows me. Since I am using it I am steadily improving my running abilities, and have prevented any running injuries.
I will run my first 21k tonight. 711 run 2019. Godbless us all, runners.
My first Half Marathon Race was December 6,2016. I got sprained on my left and right calves on my 14th km. I finished the race at 02:20:35…
Last December of 2018, i did a time trial for 21km and got 01:47:25…
My upcoming half Marathon is on August 04,2019 in Siem Reap,Cambodia.(KHMER EMPIRE MARATHON 2019)
I just ran 10km race last June 16,2019…
Do you think Training for half marathon till August is enough for me?
Thanks Coach..
Everyone is worried about her training and regularly training i’m slightly distracted she’s gorgeous!
I’m running my firt half marathon on May 11, 2019. I’ve lost 23 pounds in the last 8 months, almost 3 years since ACL surgery. I’m in the best shape of my life. I’m so excited!
No one just causally trains for a marathon in 2 week you jackass. You’re obviously trained. Fuck off.
As a runner myself, it is a fun video but please… DO NOT TRY THIS!
Marathon at 8:13 pace after only 2 weeks? Very impressive! There has to be more to the story, though. After your first run (sub 8), I knew you had to be a decent runner before. Did you run in high school? Casey force you on runs? People who train for those 12-24 week plans would kill for your time.
You girls have a wonderful chemistry between you all. Very special memories for you. Great video too!
Jesus Christ Jack that’s an impressive time. You MUST be an experienced runner?
Not sure if you or any experienced runners still frequent this video. I have signed up for my first half Marathon. it is 6 months away and I’ve started training. I’ve already been training for 3 weeks and seen big changes. Before I used to look at the clock every 30 seconds to see if I am almost done as I slowly die on the inside and want the agony to end. Now (3 weeks later) I am up to 4 miles per run and 5 miles on the weekend and the training is significantly easier. I am only running every other day so 3-4 times a week but don’t do any other training (aside from soccer once a week). I am slowly increasing my distances and my pace (started at around 3 miles now at 4 per run, started at around 6 miles per hour now up to 7 miles per hour pace). That being said I do have a few questions 1) did i start training too early? 2) Is it a reasonable plan if most of my training involves just running and resting (i.e. one day on/one day off), or is strength training just as important as running? 3) My plan is to increase my running to 5 miles every other day, with the weekend run being longer, specifically increase by 1 mile every month until I reach the 10/11 mile mark preferably at 7.5 pace per mile in May. I am doing all of this on a treadmill but plan on doing outdoors training when it warms up in April/May Is this a reasonable plan or is it too slow in terms of growth?
My first ever half marathon after an 8-year race hiatus. The half is in August 4 and I spur of the moment decided to do one.
Hope to do a 1:20 in my first half marathon in June! Wish me luck.
Where do I get a jacket like the one you were wearing for training? (Grey) P.S I am going to start learning the fundamentals of programming next trimester
Ok we get it, she’s not a regular person in the traditional non-athletic sense. Let’s move on shall we??
Thank you sir, great advice. This is gonna b my second half marathon and I want to get a sub 2hours first one got 2.33mins but didn’t train well enough. Hopefully will be ready this time!!
Can you address what to do when a runner is quad dominant? Thank you!
Your ankle injury is a huge part of your life and where you are at right now…. please do not feel like you have been talking about it too much or “going on “ about it! It is super relevant and important and needs to be addressed! Keep us posted about it, please! Keep up your amazing work!!
your videos have gotten better and better! i really enjoy watching these!
Lara you’re gonna do well as long as you Step Over that finish line no matter what time you did it definitely be pushing you in spirit keep your mindset to crossing that line look forward to the rest afterwards you got this girl.
But how do you find the time to run 40 miles a week? Seriously guys I have a job and a family
I’ve not been a runner (track & field) athlete in the past, but was a multi sport athlete growing up. At 40 I started marathon training 7 weeks ago (running my 1st mile in months) and started vlogging my progress from T-16 weeks out. 2 weeks ago I ran just over 12 miles on my long day and this week I will pass 1/2 marathon distance, so I have to say yes its very capable if your dedicated and in reasonably good shape.
Great to hear this now. I have reasonable base fitness and a few 10ks under my belt but inconsistent running practice. I also have my first half marathon in 3 months so will be sticking to the training plan and crossing my fingers! Any thoughts on avoiding foot numbness that seems to start after about 7k? Maybe I’m prone to a bit of swelling in the feet and just need to be ready to loosen my running shoes during a longer run as this helped at the weekend on a 10k.
I am training for my full marathon through the help of this marathon training “Zοrοtοn Axy” (Google it). I now have a much improved plan to start again. I`m experienced in 5K’s and 10K’s and half marathons. Because of this particular guide, I`m now going to take the full marathon. I strongly recommend this fantastic training..
Training for a marathon is no joke for anyone! Congrats on doing it in 30 days!
http://www.verrunco.com
It is a patent-registered toe sock in the U.S. Korea is famous for blocking blisters.
I used this marathon training program “Zοrοtοn Axy” (Google it) to train for my full marathon. I decided to begin again with a improved plan. I am experienced in 5K’s and 10K’s and half marathons. Thanks to this guide, I`m now going to take the full marathon. This wonderful training program is a must-try..
Wait wait wait, to qualify for the New York marathon you need to run in other marathon under 3hours, click bait and liar
I have an extremely unathletic friend (didnt work out at all) who ran a marathon with basically no training at all. Like, he ran twice In the months leading up to it I think. It was on a dare essentially, because he was talking about how “anybody can run a marathon”, and so we told him he couldnt, and then he proved us all wrong. He actually finished around 10 min pace average as well. We can do WAY more than we think were capable of. When our bodies are telling us to stop, were usually only about 40% spent. I’m a marathon runner, and I train a ton to be able to run marathons at the pace id like to run them at, but id say just crossing the finish line of a marathon in less than 5 and1/2 or 6 hours is a pretty realistic goal for alot of people even if they arent all that athletic/ dont train often.
No matter who the person is, running a marathon with no training TO RUN 26.2 miles is an incredibly difficult feat.
Speed workouts and tempo runs are the key. When I posted my HM PR of 1:25:21, it felt really easy for the most part. First 10K I had a big smile on my face even though I averaged close to 4:00 min/km. The reason it felt easy is because I was doing lots of intervals, uphill sprints and tempo runs at a faster pace. So on race day, even this fast pace (for me) felt comfortable. But do start doing these workouts gradually and fairly slow, or you might get an injury. Ideally you want to have about 12 weeks of training before a big race, this will give you enough time to slowly build intensity.
In your training programs for the 1/2 and full marathon on your TRE app do you need any equipment and if so what are they?
Everyone is saying how she isn’t a normal person cuz she works out…. idk how to tell y’all this but normal people workout…. so get ur lazy ass up
When you`re getting ready to run a marathon for the very first time, you should attempt this marathon training courses “Zοrοtοn Axy” (Google it). The book is filled with good assistance, suggestions from all those who have run one before, what to do and also what NOT to do, as well as training schedules. Highly recommend it..
Meeting my sub 4hr target and achieving my first marathon without injury were achievable due to this marathon training program “Zοrοtοn Axy” (Google it). You will find a lot of details about diet, strategy, training courses and so on with this guide. The best part concerning this guide is the training courses schedule which guides you in the preferred distance you need to run on a certain day..
I started training for my half marathon about 3 months ago. I run between 4 and 5 miles 3 times a week, with the occasional 8 miler. A couple of weeks ago I noticed this pain in my wrists on one side. The side facing the floor. I don’t clench my fists during a run and I do shake my arms out periodically. Why do you think this could be happening and what can I do about it? x
Really enjoyed your half marathon running journey!!
I made a similar film about my Chicago Marathon experience this year.
Keep this type of content going!! It’s inspirational for people who are contemplating putting on a pair of running shoes. My wife got a lot of inspiration from your 2017 NYC marathon journey:)
We are all set to run the Berlin Marathon in 2020

Hi Nate.
How do i get information on running a half marathon. Thanks.
I have 46 days!
6:24– 6:28 I got really concerned for a bit. I thought she was saying that a 3 mile run was her long run
This is disgusting. She might be fit and able to run without a doubt but she has INJURIES. Saying that you should just push trought your injuries is completely insane and dangerous. If you have past injuries, it doesn’t mean you can’t run but gosh darn just take it slow and take care of your body. Absolutely do not run a marathon after just a month of training you are putting yourself in harms way and it shouldn’t be admired. Congrats to her but buzzfeed you have to realize that this challenge if done with the wrong person is very dangerous especially if you’re going to broadcast this message
I’m running 5k about three times a week, max distance so far it’s 8k. Do you think I can get up to half marathon in 3 months?
Who else came here for inspiration from this “regular person”, only to be shot down within the first minute. But still, good for her to finish it so well
So stupid, anyone with a decent level of fitness can run a marathon although it won’t be enjoyable.
I’m training for a full marathon… and I am a real regular person (not athletic at all) and this inspired me to keep training
ANOTHER ONE OF THESE
So I’ve been a runner for 14-15 years and I cannot tell you how dangerous it is to put your body through that much impact in 30 days. I am not sure why Buzzfeed feels the need to put their employees in such time restraints for these fitness videos. Completing a marathon is a great accomplishment whether it is done in 30 days, 6 months or years. It’s also really concerning that she came into the challenge with serious injuries already been done to her body with her previous fitness experience. Why only 30 days?!
My main concern is that someone will see this and think “Wow, maybe I need to push myself as hard as that” or “I need to challenge myself like this”. Please don’t. Any fitness activity you do on your own time/schedule is the best way to not only prevent injury but to be happy!
And Buzzfeed please stop trying to injure your employees!
I will never understand why someone would put themselves through such torture. Running sucks
im proud of you!!!! i even watch this with teary eyes:”) you are amazing!!
There’s rhetorical flair and then there’s just total bullshit. Your first run is 8 miles? Not on this planet, dude. I know you’re hunting for a story angle, but you could have done a marathon video without the fuckery about it being done in two weeks.
Is it a bad idea to train for a half marathon if I can’t even run a mile without stopping? I’m doing a 5k and am 4 weeks away from the race but struggle hitting the paces a lot of times because I have to stop and walk. What can I do to improve my long distance endurance? Also what can I do to keep my legs from hurting as much?
This is really cool! A marathon is super hard, now matter how fit you are.:)
I just checked her Instagram and she has been training for this marathon for several months not just thirty days
How is she a normal person when she works out everyday. This is such a clickbait
A regular person would be too lazy to stick to the goal. That’s why they are “regular”. Some dude from buzzfeed multiplayer couldn’t even play switch ring fit adventure for 30 days. Do you guys think that people like him would stick to actual training and running?
Title: “regular person”
Video starts out by saying “so I work out daily and both my parents are athletes” bruhhhhhh
Regular person cannot fun a marathon. This is a mental challenge and not many people have the means to take up HIIT & yoga & Pilates classes & also have the time to run multiple miles.
My experience in running short distances is Twenty years. Within the last two years, I finished five half marathons. Right after deciding to aim for a full marathon, I used this marathon training courses “Zοrοtοn Axy” (Google it). and plenty of excellent ideas. Finished my first marathon AND qualified for Boston..
Wanna watch a true regular person run a full marathon? Go to YES THEORY channel. They did the content well & way earlier.
Her: Runs a marathon and is still alive
Me: Gets to the ‘finish line’ panting like a dog. Race starts….
If only she did one punch man fitness routine. She would become female Saitama!
Marathon running just seems like a recipe for disaster to me. I feel like it can’t be good on the body.
They could have chosen anybody else like she exercises regularly, and has back and knee problems like I’m proud of her, but wish they chose somebody else.
How to train for marathon
1. Put airpods on
2. Say that your legs are numb
Done
M out.
Bit of a clickbait video. You had a GREAT time for the marathon, but for you “first” run to be 8 miles you definitely have been running for a good amount of time already.
How to prevent injuries during running….
Is knee supporter advisable for running……
@Klossy very honestly I am in love with you Karlie. I want to marry with you seriously and live together forever
Was able to run 3.40 miles today! Such a milestone for me. Doing 5ks and then 1/2 marathon. But always listening to your tips and my body. Thanks guys!
See you’re in the Bay Area what are some good running trails!?
Why the heck would she risk such further injury to her body?? Oh right, for the views.
20 minutes…or 3 miles…you have REALLY high hopes for me lol
i’m so sorry she’s not regular. we have very different definition of regular, buzzfeed.
I lift 5-6 days a week. Will it be impossible to train for a half marathon? My plan is to run after lifting as an extended cadio session.
Thank you for your useful advice. I just have one question: is the selection of the surface on which we train on a critical factor? Running 5K or 8-10K regularely on cement surfaces is tiring.
No, I want a NORMAL person. Someone who aspires to be this woman but is too lazy and blames it on being busy, but in reality, they’re watching videos like these.
Ran many marathons but wouldn’t consider yourself a runner
She’s a “regular person” compared to an elite marathon runner. She’s not going to break any records, she’s just trying to finish the race. It’s not safe to do a marathon unless you have put in significant training. A “regular” person who doesn’t workout wouldn’t be able to finish this race and would put the person in physical danger. So in the sense that she’s just challenging herself and not winning any awards, she is “regular.”
can you please do a video on speed workout for half marathon:)
i know this video is fake because her airpods didnt fall out at any point.
