I sneek fresh herbs from Neighbors who have it growing abundantly!I’m lucky!
I like doing them with the shells on. they are more forgiving and not as easy to overcook. allows more time on the heat contact.✌
Marinade is kind of like an herb pesto if you will. Spoonula is hilarious!
I have tried this amazing grilled garlic shrimp recipe. This recipe is really great. Also here i have a special grilled shrimp recipe. Check out the recipe:

“Plastic wrap doesn’t stick to wood.”
Yeah, that’s why you don’t use it as a condom.
Where do you get the sumac? It’s not available at any of our stores if you have an internet vendor you prefer, I’d love a recommendation.

Great video. Your Greek marinated salmon looks great. We must be observant what type of salmon we buy. The Norwegian salmon is the most toxic in the world and should not be allowed to sell or marketed. It causes miscarriages, strokes, and cancer, https://youtu.be/HpjTvuhR3lw

Saw it on another video….. shake the cloves of garlic in a jar and it knocks off the shell.
Lisa, when I saw how short this video was, I knew I had to give it a try. I made the shrimp yesterday on the grill an even though I dropped a skewer on the ground, they were delectable and so easy to make! I also deveined shrimp for the 1st time an grilled for the 1st time! I’ll remember this recipe for a long time to come an look forward to making again an again!! Thanks Lisa!
Ok, big question here… veined or de-veined? You didn’t cover that.
I shouldn’t have watched this while hungry…. off to the store to buy shrimp!
Did you devein the shrimp yourself or are they deveined before being frozen?
Im not babish but i have eaten shawarma several times and i can say that that is nothing like it
I think they grill the chicken again so the meat wil be crispy
Everything I’ve tried has been very good, cant wait to try the shrimp. Thank you

Can you do a rice bowl recipe with these? What else would you add besides rice?
Hello Lisa,
I share your opinion about frozen shrimps. I stopped buying fresh ones because they often made me sick. I am french and live in Paris far from the sea. Very great recipe that I will try! Merci beaucoup!
That’s not shawarma. He made taco at the end of the shawarma video. Dumbass.
What kinda saran wrap do you use? I’ve never seen it before!
Thanks for your recipe really like myself seafood… Not getting those large sizes of shrimp around my place though
Love it, I have some fresh cukes form the garden to use up, definitely trying this, thanks.
I think the name is mostly based on where you are from I know in Germany it is doner and in Greece in is gyro (pronounced yeero)
Can I use avocado oil instead because I’m allergic to Olives?
Usually I add garlic toum for shawarma and I never use thighs
Omg! Im sure this is very appetizingYour instructions are very clear, thats why it’s easy to follow
Its more of a taco its like a kebab you wrap it not hold it like a taco
I always have such great luck with your recipes. This is great timing. No family get together for us this year on the 4th, so husband wants to grill just for the two of us, I always keep frozen shrimp on hand, and I’ve just harvested garlic from the garden! I’m looking forward to this!
Wow! You’re amazing. This recipe is out of this worldIt’s heavenly good
Everyone’s saying this ain’t authentic shawarma. Well, give me your recipe; I want to know what you consider authentic shawarma.
I mean given how many iterations shawarma has (döner, gyro, kebap, tacos al pastor) authenticity doesn’t mean shit. That’s like saying your mother’s spaghetti and meatballs recipe is the official authentic recipe. It’s simply not how food works.
I am Turkish and I have been screaming “IT IS DONER” the whole vid
This is a wonderful choice of food was great I hope to see more of your videos soon thank you
I’m cringing inside out at the sight of babbish not seasoning his tahini with lemon and salt
why do u guys hate when ppl who grew up w cultural foods correct white chefs so much. wtf. if you’re gonna make something and call it something then it should be accurate, right? and it’s ALWAYS the people outside of said culture acting like this. stop being douchebags.
it’s easy to not really care if a cultural dish is butchered if it’s not your culture. i don’t really care if this is shawarma or not bc it looks good either way, but i would be offended if someone made jerk chicken completely wrong and then called it that. stop being so mean to people who just want people to present their culture accurately
While everyone else is ranting about authenticity, I’m wondering why he made a joke about buying an expensive unitasker from amazon, then ran with it for the rest of the episode, instead of explaining how to bake or grill the chicken for optimal results…without wasting your hard-earned money.
I honestly feel so bad for people who haven’t ate THE real sHaWarMa……..
Coming back two years later to say that is absolutely not Shawarma.
Let’s just say that its a delicious Taco-ish thing and call it a day.
Firstly, why is he eating it like a taco and also, that’s not a shawarma
That looks a lot like a gyro, is there a difference? Am I just dumb?
Put more than a thousand pinch of kosher salt on the comment section
This looks easy enough for a terrible cook like me to get the hang of.
Off topic ( I’ve not even got into the video all the way ) I love, love, love the blouse! Okay now I’ll actually finish watching the video.
This is not Shawarma, not a Pita a not a Tahini. I have my doubts about the Tabule too but can’t put my finger on it.
You really can’t beat this recipe, for an easy, tasty, healthy recipe to toss on the grill! I hope you guys enjoy it, and stay safe this weekend! xo Lisa
I’ve grown my own herbs for years, and I find stripping the lemon thyme leaves off the stem very relaxing and therapeutic.
Shawarma/shorma is common in india, pak, arabia and other west asia countries
The word ‘Shawarma’ was derived from Turkish word ‘Chevirme’ which literally means ‘turning/spinning’. The meat was cooked horizontally against the fire for the first time by Turks of Anatolia in mid-1850s then quickly spread to the other parts of the Ottoman Empire, such as Greece, Balkans and Levantine. Iraqi and Lebanese immigrant brought it with them to Latin America in early 1900s, it eventually became Tacos Al Pastor.
He didn’t Evan use lamb he used chicken I mean he can but it’s most common the use lamb
This is amazing! I never make blackened anything at home because I am not used to cooking with those flavors. I love this! Delicious and beautiful:)
hello im 90 year old and lived in shawarma my whole life, this is not shawarma because reasons, have a good day.
In Romania this is called Shaorma and its a very good common food.
P.s. Hello from Romania
In the uk the greek or Turkish version of this, doner kebab (Usyally called gyro after the greek version in the US) is a fish and chip shop staple and I’d argue is actually more popular than actual fish and chips among us Brits.
Just by looking at them, you want to get off the couch and head out to get some shrimps. Those look so colorful and delicious. Love your channel and thank you for all your easy preparation videos. You have helped me to lose weight and not stress over the cooking process. ❤
Whenever my mom makes flour tortillas and they start to rise, she usually pushes down on them slightly to divert the steam building up within the tortilla equally with a flat utensil
Isn’t this basically a gyro made with chicken instead of lamb?
You are the Peaches of your Herbs.” Shake Your Groove Thing, Chef John…well played!
Anyone else find it funny how a lot of Americans complain about how people eat burgers and pizza with a knife and fork yet when someone complains about how babish eats a shawarma, people act so defensive.
People who’ve had proper had arabian shawerma: THATS NOT HOW YOU MAKE IT!!!!
italians who had their pizzas and other dishes ruined with american twists: First time?
Make sure to thank your neighbor for providing you with a natural air purifier, shade provider, air conditioner, wildlife habitat, sound pollution absorber and dappled sound from the wind blown leaves that lower your blood-pressure. A little dappled light..i think its worth it.
Why is no one talking about how he mentioned Chef John?? two if my favorite cooking channels oh lord
I don’t think this marinade is in your cookbook. The chicken shawarma entry references the marinade on pg. 73 which is the mojo marinade from ‘chef’.
Shawarma are great.. here they usually make it with lamb, of beef, hardly ever seen one with chiken, also parsley, tomatoes and red onions, plus the yogurt based sauce and, of course, a spicy sauce.. But never ate one and ended up with my hands clean.
wth is shwaarmaa
its SHA-WAR-MA and the a in WAR is pronounced like the o in worm
