I think for beginners it’s important to breakdown the breaths a little more than you’re doing. For example, instead of holding the exhale in downward facing dog and moving straight to low lunge: exhale downward facing dog, inhale your right leg up, exhale low lunge, inhale warrior 1. And just as a general thing to keep in mind as well, inhales are /usually/ for moving away from the ground, exhales are moving towards the ground. So from chair pose, inhale mountain pose with the arms lifted, exhale standing at attention (hands at heart).
Good evening Cole, could you tell me the date you uploaded your A sun salutation tutorial, so I could practice it? Have you already uploaded your A and B combined sun salutation tutorial? I loved this B tutorial. Very well placed with excellent visual and verbal directions.
Absolutely, I personally like to build it up that way, but no need for it!
Hi Esther,I’ve just started doing yoga with you and I feel more relaxed. When I go down with exhale, and put my hands on the floor,I can’t keep my legs straight, need to bend them, otherwise can’t reach the floor with my hands. How long do I have to train to reach floor with straight legs?Or is just matter of time or stretching?
Excellent flow. One of the best videos of suryanamaskar B I ever had seen
Esther, been practicing yoga for about 10 years, have always avoided Ashtanga cause it didn’t appeal to me, but you might just convince me yet to give it a try. I guess I can always slow and meditate more!!:)
Lovely. I super enjoyed this after just doing my sun salutations A!
Tbe way that you incorporated a slightly slower salutation first was awsome before moving on to more of a flow.
I subscribed
Thanks so much
Namaste
Okay so the first sequence suraya namaskara A I repeat 5 times what about B? Just this sequence?
Thank you so much for all the tips! I am so enjoying the drills! Team #GetUpsideDown xox
Great video, but for a beginner “how to” it would be helpful if it was slower. I had to stop the video at 2:00 and watched the rest until I realized that was the “slow” version haha. I did it a second time but slowed the video down to 0.75
May i ask you, The Sun salute is surely original or someone has modified type?
correct your chaturanga and veerbhadrasana. look at your posture (even beginners do this very well)
Sometimes I get to point where my body’s had enough, I sit back and watch. This flow is truly an art form and you are a master! Amazing Cole!
Amazing! love the instructions on the breathing, very clearly explained.
Thank you. Good pacing and well-timed voice instruction. I would buy a DVD of a 60-minute class in a heartbeat. Thanks for posting useful chunks instead of just promo footage!
This was so hard to find! I wanted just a run through with some simple words to que me. All I’ve found has too much explaination and 10 minutes of jabber prior to getting down to business. I know the moves, just need a little narration to keep the flow proper.. this was perfect. Thank you!
Ms Ekhart, I love the way you teach each and every pose in detail. I want to know whether which asana can I perform as a substitute to low lunge pose in traditional sun salutation.
So glad I do my yoga with you. The cues so help me. Beautiful places are a huge bonus
Hi, i did this for 3 weeks after i had a shoulder injury becaus of trying 1 handed chin up these exercise helped me alot my injurry is gone thx only the last 1 i cant do
Just a,matter of time. I started off as stiff as a piece of plywood, but now can almost put my hands flat on the floor with my legs straight:D
Just keep your legs straight and lower yourself down on the exhale to your limit, and push a bit beyond slowly. you should see gradual improvement:)
Hi Esther, could you please make a video explaining to us the general diff between ashtanga, yin, n other diff yoga teachings, and the benefits. If possible show us a few diff poses between them, Thx for all your videos and your great energy:)
Love your ♀️ class and this beautiful background Thank you Cole! You are amazing
Thank you very much. I forgot that Surya Namaskara B has only Virabhadrasana 1in the sequence. Gratitude for using the Sanskrit names. Namaste Elke SA
Wow her form is just superb, it’s like she’s creating a work of art with each movement
Hello Ms Turner, your video is awesome. I want to know whether which asana can I perform as a substitute to low lunge pose in traditional sun salutation.
Thank you, I was looking for a quick video on this without a lot of pointless talking. Perfect!:)
Great tutorial! Clean, clear concise instructions! You are incredibly flexible, wish I can emulate a fraction of your someday:)
always learning more tips from you, one of my favorites youtube yogis:)Namaste!!!
It would have been great if I could have received an answer to my question bcoz it’s really very urgent and important to me. Thanks.
Awesome. Really wanting to get into yoga too. Currently into hiit training so if that interests you subscribe to my channel and workout videos will be going up soon
thanks esther:your videos are superb. However I wish to ask you if I need to have some supervision..Do you have any advice for people with pot belly before doing suryasana
Can anyone please tell me the difference between upward facing dog and cobra? Thanks!
Very good, nice control of the body. @ Mishmo, it’s about balance. Finding the center of your body. Ofcourse some power in the shoulders is fine.
@quimicafq With Cobra you lie with the whole body on the floor, you lift your chest and head of the floor, pubic bone and legs stay on the floor. Upward facing dog you only rest on the top of the feet and hands. So legs and hips lift off the floor.
This guy is amazing! All the postures flow so smoothly. Beautiful to watch.
In chair pose do you tuck your tail bone under? Thanks for the video
it would be nice with the breathing and focus notes included
Ashtanga Sun Salutations are so different from Hata Yoga’s salutations, and it’s so difficult to find video like this one. Thank you Luke!
It would be nice if you can explain the ujai breathing! Thanks again:)
As always, thanks for tutorials!…..I have lower back issues I had to wear a brace for as a kid, and I get low/mid pain from doing upward facing dog or cobra, no matter how “correctly.”
I was curious what you were speaking of with the toes tucked. Can you explain that adjustment (and any others) or even completely alternate poses.
If that’s too much to put in a comment, would you consider making a video for this?
Thanks for everything you do.
Love the tip about brushing the ground going into chair pose! I’m going to remember that one!
Excellent tutorials, easy to follow, pleasant to watch. Thank you Ms Ekhart, you are my favorite instructor of all times!
wow man chill take a deep breath where is all the hate coming from. find some love in your heart.
Spookily I’ve been needing this breakdown of the pose, you must have heard me!
I’ve been having trouble transitioning through the feet when moving from upward-facing dog to down-dog. Not sure why but it’s maybe more evident as my right ankle has been playing up. It’s very sore especially on waking (with no specific reason), I wonder if it’s a tension higher up in the calf that’s exaggerating the pain? I may need a bodyworker to spend a bit of time on this area as it’s not improving.
Anyway it really helped to break down the parts of this sun salutation. Thank you for posting
