The one thing that I wish people would do when giving a tutorial on technique is to right at the start just do the technique. don’t talk, don’t do anything else. just to the technique already. THEN you can start doing the detail.
It really bothers me that he doesn’t use his left side. Still, awesome technique.
One of the only video tutorials I have seen that explains not to swing out! I do not know why I hardly see any close transition from barbell to kettlebell snatches out there in internet land…! Job well done being thorough Sir!!!
Does he have any advice on cardio or does he just not do any?
i got a fever….. and the only prescription is more kettlebell
I refer my friends to your videos for correct technique using kettlebells.. I learnt more by watching your excellent breakdowns of kettlebell exercises than what my personal trainer taught me b4 Covid19 locked us all down.. Saved my wrists and my back & I’m able train harder for longer now.. Have you got any training programs from beginners to advanced? Thank you Mark, keep up the awesome work..
I just learned the hard way why it’s bad to cast it forward with a straight arm, and with too heavy a kettlebell. Hopefully I learned my lesson.
“Pay attention to the drop…”
Better to watch Pavel who introduced the kettlebell to the US from Russia. https://youtu.be/cKx8xE8jJZs
If you weren’t so macho and used less weight your demos would be better. We already know you’re a stud. Just saying. Thank you for your vids.
Great stuff. Real problems with wrist and arm pain with KB overhead
6:36 “…that was one of the biggest things that I learned that really helped out my snatch…”
Yeah I can take everything out of context ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
thank you I was having issues with this the other dayI will try this next time I’m in the gym
Explanation: 10/10. Camera work: 0/10:D It would be helpful if you could include a slow motion record in the video.
Awesome video. Hey guys if I were to search for he custom flags you have on the wall.. what would I search for?? Thanks!
And also… “Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so, let us all be thankful.” Buddha
Once again thank you for this video and you time kind sir…
This is pretty good. As he mentioned, the usual limiting factor for snatches (at moderate-high reps) is the grip, so any techniques that spare forearm/grip energy are useful. At my gym I have a 100lb-er with a high friction thick handle and a 100lb-er with a lower friction thin handle. I’m up to 17 snatches each arm, but I can do only 35 with a 24kg, because of the forearm fatigue. I have no idea how people do 200+. We need more videos that help people who are already accustomed to the movement and are actually looking to improve performance. Almost everything is targeted toward old ladies who don’t even break a sweat.
Also, I don’t know why anyone would use that first drop technique; it’s straight inferior. What’s the point of teaching beginners or whomever a sh*t technique? Teach them right, and maybe they won’t be stuck swinging toddler toys forever.
This is great info Mark, and your maths based approach to progress really inspired me to start kb again. Thanks.
@MarkWildman
Dear Mark,
Snatch is ripping my palms. I am not using completion kettlebell and may be the handle is little rough.
I face no problems in clean and press though.
Is there anything wrong in my techniques.
I’ve been a big time gym goer all my life until I brought a 70lb kettlebell. I really can work every body part as I would if I had a gym membership. This really is a gem of power training
My goodness cameraman! Get the entire swing on the screen! ♂️
Really great videos guys. Thank you for doing this. I’ve learned a lot.
It always helps out my snatch when I don’t grab it too tightly.
Awesome video. I’ve been working on heavier snatches recently and a big problem was my grip and ripping apart the palms of my hands so this information will really help.
3:18 Poor head counterweight and no hip push: learn from Oleh Ilika, you fucking dorky!!
Steve Cotter is a mutant according to Pavel. The guy can bang out dozens of KB snatches w/ a 32kg in a row.
I was really interested in the hand movement at the top of the swing. The video cut some of that out.
Better camera angles and actual explanation of technique needed to be helpful
Look at Pavel Tsatsouline’s body, compared to the common YouTube fitness body now days. Steroids much? I’ll admit that maybe some of these guys are just big. But it annoys me. I been a Personal Trainer my whole life. I know what is possible, and what is not. You can see that they either can’t afford enough gear, or are deliberately trying to hang just above what is normal. But you can’t hide steroid use.
This is an awesome tutorial. I’ve been doing half snatches because I’m too chicken shit to do full snatches due to ripping my hands many times on the downward phase but the detailed demo and explanation of the corkscrew method shown here is perfect! Can’t wait to get practicing on it this week!
Thanks guys!
Seems hard style bells make this harder, or maybe it’s me making it harder. Lol.
Can you suggest some good workouts combined with pullups please? As thats what ive got at home! 22kg KB and a pull up bar.
I like this one great side and front views with detailed instruction. Taking notes. Thank you I was looking for the snatch… never done this one yet.
Learning how to do the clean and press without bruising your forearm. That you’ve learnt how to flex your wrist and put the bell correctly on your arm. Teaches you how to do the snatch properly. You’ll instinctively know how to do the second technique shown in this clip.
This is a definite great video… Love the tips in this one for sure #mindpumpmafia #mindpumphead
Hello Mr. WILDMAN.
Howa can I program this wonderfoul complex in my weekly workouts?
Many thanks
My best regards
You are simply RHE BEST!!!
I wish I could you more than 1 thumbs up. I’m a absolutely dummy when it comes to coordination but I got it the first time watching this.
every time i see “great instructors” on tube i remind this topic. this dude is absolute right. he could be the trainor or instructor whetever! actually, you don^t need no wrist dresses.
I have been afraid of doing kettlebell snatches since i started my kettlebell workouts a month ago but the progressions here have helped me a lot. The wrist banging I was afraid of wasn’t even that bad thanks to all the info in this video.
I’m a massive fan of your content, and I will adopt some of your cues teaching the snatch for sure!
But with a barbell I would argue that the correct position is trying to place the load directly over the palm heel of the hand, just like what you describe with the kettlebell, and not resting the weight up on the pad / callusus, it would put immense pressure on the wrists and limit your lifting ability, especially doing bench press and other high load exercises.
Is it normal, as a beginner, to be better at cleans on one side than the other? Thank you.
Fantastic instruction. I was doing this intuitively in order not to bang my wrist, but seeing this video I realized I can make changes to do it even better. Thank you.
This is the most simple and sinister snatch training video I’ve ever watched. I own kettlebells but haven’t used them much until COVID. I’m also loving how you teach both styles. This is as efficient as possible. Wish I could like twice.
Great video! I was distracted by the weapons in the background on the first part the video. Hehehe!
Посмотрите настоящих гиревиков Кравцов, Бенидзе, Анасенко, Денисов!!!!!!!!!
This. THIS! I still have a 20lb kb to do good form. The next goal is to get a heavier kb to get stronger. Anyone got a spare 35lb to sell?
Outstanding. Thank you so much. I’m completely new to Kettlebell training and this is so clear and very helpful. ☺️
Thank you! That makes it simple and clear. No more bruises!
dude, everytime i do this, the kb juast smacks off my wrist. tks for the tips, see if it works…
Best technique and explanation in the world. Thank you, thank you so much!
Thank you, thank you, thank you I agree with StormRider. I’ve been doing my C&P correctly, but had been struggling with the snatches. You explained it brilliantly…just subscribed.
When bringing the bell down from either the clean or snatch through the legs, the thumb is rotated in to face nearly backwards, is there a technique reason for this?
imo, and I def could be wrong, but for folks on the more starter/beginner end: def start with a weight WELL within your capabilities… don’t mess around and hurt your shoulder or even knock yourself out. you’re trying to get healthier, not the opposite.
This is an awesome video. You don’t simply give instructions on what to do and how to do it, you also build the necessary intuition on the exercise progression and effect.
I only have one question for this video at 11:00 who has it been? Marky Mark of the Funky Bunch?
Arguably the worst snatch tutorial on YouTube. Lol no explanation for anything specific.
Awesome as always but camera dude messed it up with the framing cutting the KB at the top during the snatch
Hey Mark. what would be the benefits from doing snatches rather than clean & press?
The shape of my kettlebell (flat side) only seems to allow for me to do this with a ‘barbell wrist’. Should I always be using a round kettlebell?
By far the best explanation on how to properly perform the snatch.
Damn this guy knows his shit. excellent tutorial. thank you
Thanks for the videos.
Just picked up a 28kg bell. It’s a bit lighter than I normally swing with, but heavier than I normally snatch and press with. Looking forward to seeing some results:P
what should I do if I keep banging my arm on the way up to the snatch?
A perfect explanation of this movement and the most intimidating KB movement for the initiate. The breakdown into component movements is precise. In the end though, as you point out, if it doesn’t hurt you are mostly right! KBs rule! And honestly after a brutal KB session I am sore the next day but not broken/stupid sore, just sore. Broken stupid sore comes from the current gym wisdom. Dynamic weight is the real deal. No world records or props to you but you are the beast that is not seen. That is the best beast to be. Awesome video Mark!
Unable to train olympic weightlifting with Covid-19 so purchased a 35 lbs KB other day. Your videos have helped tremendously with technique and movement patterns. New sub and liked, thank you!
Your explanations are soooo good!! I’m not lying about straight-up deleting previously saved vids on Kettlebell exercises & just using yours. Now to put it to practice.
I’m also wondering why my trainer didn’t show me how to not hit myself.. he just told me not to do it.. okey.. but I didn’t understand why I couldn’t stop!
Bought Kettlebells after covid19 lockdown. Found your channel, amazing videos. Subscribed!! I have a question. I am into rock climbing and was doing Push/Pull (DL, Squats, OHP, Bench) routine 3 times a week and climbing 2 -3 times a week. One day Rest. What would be the ideal work regimen with Kettelbells and Pull-up bar which is all I have now.
Mark, this channel is Gold. Took some SF courses years back and then fell out of it. Your channel has inspired me to spend time with my kettlebells again and it feels amazing.
Is it normal for the back of my wrist to be red and painful just by making the kttlebell rest on it? Does it get better with time as i develop calluses on my forearm?
Outstanding presentation AND content. My only GO TO site for KB and Functional Movement instruction. Thanks Mark.
This was really well explained. I was doing a snatch up and clean down for the longest time without realizing. Much different snatch up and snatch down. Awesome detail. I did 100 with each arm today. Had to break it up into sets of 10/15/20/20/20/15 to get through it which took about 20-25 mins. I wonder if he means some people can do 100 -120 in a row cuz that is insane. My grip was close to exhaustion form rep 12 and on in each set.
I was taught to use more of a hip thrust and keep the bell closer to my body. Are there more than one ” style” of snatch. I notice you swing it more. Thank you in advance.
Hey Mark, this is really an amazing tutorial and it helped me do some snatches for the first time so a really big thanks from me!
Can you please help me with something? It seems that your technique resembles more the hardstyle of snatching. Is there any chance of you giving tips on the girevoy sport snatch? It looks really efficient and nice to train. There quite a lot of videos, but none have explanations as good as the ones here.
I’m 3:57 in and I have already learned why I’ve been chewing my hands up for the last few years when doing these! The pinky information alone is gold! Thank you sir! Finishing up watching now.
Man thanks for this, nobody really goes into the “drop heavy weight in a controlled way” part for some reason! Feels way better having it in control all the way down
What’s your take on kb snatches from the floor, rather than swinging between snatches? Coming from an oly lifting background I miss (1) going into triple extension and (2) catching the weight overhead in a squat. Swings don’t lead themselves to either of those. Do you recommend we kb snatch from the floor as well, and if so, could you demo the movement? Love your stuff man — thanks!!
I’m currently recovering from ACL injury and all my PTs said that pointing your feet slightly outward is much healthier for your knees. As for the downward motion, isn’t it better for your rotator cuff to have neutral grip instead of uhm inverter grip (with thumb pointing backward)?
This and the kettlebell clean both look really cool but I’m afraid of crushing my bawlls D:
saw hundereds of kb coaches, Mike is among the best definitely. perfect tutorial
Honestly think this is the best explanation of KB snatches I’ve found on YT and I’ve watched a lot as I find it difficult to get the synchronisation correct. Thanks man, much appreciated.
I’m sick of those idiots stooping high school giving advice on natural things
Great progression for overall practice:
3 Double Handed Swings
3 Single Handed Swings
3 Cleans
3 Clean & Press
3 C&P Snatch Down
3 Snatch Up C&P Down
3 Snatch
Swap Sides
I religiously follow your tips for insertion/grip.
I check my wrist in the mirror. The press still kills my forearm. Not from the impact or anything it’s just the bell pressing against my arm.
Olympic bells. I can’t get past the pain of this.
Any advice appreciated.
Thank you! This is the best breakdown of the snatch that I’ve seen. It really helped clarify some points of confusion for me, specifically around the hands.
Is it practical to squat when the bell is at the Apex of the lift?
Will this transfer over easier into barbell snatching?
Brilliant instruction video!
Please do a detailed one on the Turkish Get-up.
Thanks!
I have get a new kettlebell, I have an old beat up one from one of my kids.
Where can I find a good kettlebell work out plan? Any recommendations? Thank you!
why this style of “gym” is not more popular…great workout possibilities
ime glad at last some one as shown how it is done thanks mr cotter
3rd video that I watched from this channel and I’m surrendered to it… no bs strait to the point… and I’m leaving with the will to get back to KB after “trading” them for powerlifting… thank you sir
As already said, This is the best tutorial for the Snatch on YT! I really struggle with the rolling the KB around the wrist but will use your advice from now on going forward! Cheers Mark!
Really enjoy your videos. Very informative with excellent delivery. Thank you!
Great video Mark. How much does the yellow Kettlebell weigh?
My goodness this is amazing level detail! How do you not have more subscribers?!
Thanks for posting this video. I’m coming from the power building world. After a year long tendinitis and recovering from a work related hip injury my lifting was limited to machines. I first used kettlebells at the l.a. fitness expo back in 2007 but I was young and only worried about putting on muscle and lifting heavy so I paid no attention to it. October of 2019. I joined a new fitness gym. In the stretching area were miscellaneous kettlebells. I started using them. I’m a fast learner so after a few YT videos I came across yours. February 27th of 2020 was my 34th birthday and thanks to kettlebells I can deadlift over 400lbs and squat over 300lbs after years of not doing it. Kettlebells are also easier on my tendonitis when I’m pressing. I started with 35lbs kettlebells I can now easily swing the 60lbs kettlebells and cleans which I use as warmup for heavy deadlifts day. but i use swings on a daily as i find it a great cardiovascular exercise and i find it as a great carryover exercise.
Awesome video! Appreciate you showing all the anglesgonna go try this today!
Best explanation for a kettlebell snatch on youtube! Especially the drop! Btw where can I get that awesome kettlebell shirt?:)
It hurts the back of my wrist when it lands on it. I don’t seem to having the correct technique
OR you can wear wristbands. They will soften the impact from the bells. I hurt myself constantly, decided not to stop but find a way not to keep banging my wrists. Both ways work fine. And if you use both methods ; you will attack the muscles at a different angle. By using a front on grip and a side on grip; you will get diff results. Which should help.
6:56 -> [ 8 Key Components of Structure ] 1) Wrist alignment 2) Elbow lock 3) Shoulder Pack 4) Crown to Coccyx alignment 5) Core Engagement 6) Hip Snap 7) Leg Drive 8)Foot alignment
Really useful breakdown. Thank you. I’d be very interested to see a TGU vid
Great lesson…Terrible videography…why the landscape view cutting out the view of the KB at the top? Just frustrating as all heck. And can’t see your lower halffootwork knee bend and balance.
He’s not doing neutral grip which ruins wrists lllollollololol
Thank you so much for the breakdown! This is definitely going to help.
only problem I have with these are, the fact they smash my wrist everytime
Eehhhh tanto balanceo es necesario? Ma que Snatch parece swing.
Steve Cotter is an icon in the kettlebell culture! Cheers Steve!
awesome tutor, this is the only exercise I am scared of doing. Next Ill give it a go…
Hi, thanks for you video, I’m trying to understand how incorporate correctly a snatch, clean and swing KETTLEBELL to my program because I really enjoy the movements, I’m trying to create a pull, push and legs program, should I put this in legs or pull? Thanks a lot
I don’t have a facebook account and don’t want one. Do you offer the snatch camp anywhere else?
Just started kettle bells on my own.. this is great info. Thanks.. subbed.
Is pendulum snatch allowed in RKC test? Had checked some videos about RKC test and those mostly involved non-pendulum swings.
Awesome! Thank you MIKE, finally learned the correct technique for kettlebell snatch. Aloha from Hawaii
Absolutely brilliant I look forward to joining your group in the New Year. I’ve been working out seriously with Kettlebells for just over a year now. I hadn’t done any Kettlebell snatches before May this year but I find it to be the most enjoyable and the most frustrating of all kettlebell exercises. I’m now snatching 16kg relatively comfortably but really need to build up strength to do more. Thanks again for this invaluable video!
This is great! I absolutely needed this sort of progression along with the rhythm and repetitiveness in the demonstration… like a clock.. a pendulum.
awesome!
Absolutely the best breakdown of the kettlebell snatch I have seen on yt. To think this is just the abbreviated version too! I have never seen that assisted snatch technique where you use the opposite hand to help bring the bell up and over the snatching hand. And I’ve watched a lot of tutorials on the kettlebell snatch. Brilliant!
Tried doing these years ago when I started training with kettlebells but I was an accident waiting to happen so have stuck with the one arm presses instead.
Thank you, never has anyone explained this to me. I have seen demos and been given instruction but this part was never present.
A LOT OF COMPLAINERS BELOW. the instructions are: you generally keep your palm in the same plane as the body (you don’t twist your hand much); you punch up in the top of the movement so the kettlebell lands smoothly onto your upperarm; and you have to grip the kettlebell tightly at the top so it falls smoothly. START LOW so you don’t hurt yourself thinking about it.
Taking the weight of a falling kettlebell with a straightened arm?
Doesn’t sound retarded at all
How many people knocked their front teeth out doing this method
thank you! Just did this, did not bash my writs from “the flip”!
How to you stop the kettle bell from smashing into your arm on the way up?
everyone say to me thumb inside to st art of swing and u put the thumbs outside…?
Fuck crossfit. Took everyworkout from everything that ever existed in fitness and act like they created it all.
Wow great video i specifically like how he does the movement like 20 times without explaining how to perform itkeep up the good work
“alright here’s the kettle bell snatch. i’m gonna do it really fucking fast so you can’t learn what i’m doing”
Well done! One of the few GOOD explanations of proper kettlebell form on YouTube.
This has to be the most helpful description on the technique of kettlebell snatch! Thanks Steve.
Well done, I had to watch a bunch of rubbish to get to this, including that guy that snaps like you’re a dog
I have small forearms and avoided doing the snatch as it always left painful bruises. I was doing the vertical alignment of the handle but missed the mid flight pull into chest and slide hand through motions. I’ll give this a try. Thank you!:)
I have watched at least a dozen bids on the snatch and yours is the most clear. Thanks!
Im sorry for being a hater previously. Now Im sharing this video with my female friends.
It seems that there are different approaches for the top of the snatch movement. I was taught to perform a high swing/pull and at the point when the kettlebell floats loosen/change the grip, insert the hand, press out letting the momentum of the kettlebell travel upwards to complete the movement. I have found this to work well until I get to heavier weights (e.g. 24kg). Perhaps this rotation technique will help me here.
Is form is perfect, its was funny that even when he was trying to get it wrong is muscle memory wouldn’t let him.
Thank you thank you THANK YOU, this has been driving me crazy!
Thanks!! This is the best video on showing the snatch..makes so much sense..no more flipping it up and over and clanging on the back of my wrist.
I have some shoulder issues (stability) on my left shoulder.. so i have concerns on how to work on being able to do a clean. How does the progression into a full snatch from beginner to maybe intermmediate? I’ve only just about started kettlebell. I only have a 25lb pounder as it’s kinda hard to acquire more kettlebells at this time (i.e. budget constraints and availability of the weight of the desired kettlebells). Would really appreciate any advice on this. Thank you.
https://youtu.be/A9-EvHBnU_k
Please guys subscribe to my YouTube channel. Peace
it seems its gotta be a fast movement. if it’s too slow you bang your wrists.
Hi Mark, I read snatches can be replaced by high pulls (almost same muscles used, but safer for people with shoulder issues). What do you think about that?
It hurts me to see how badly this guy does it! Dont put this in a tutorial if you are going to do it wrong. Try with lower weight like 8kg until you do it right, then gradually add on. Because his shoulders are not straight and you can see how his whole back and shoulder go down with his swing.. bro you should seriously fix your one hand swing if you dont wanna have problem with your back.
Also for all people that are saying that kettlebell hits their arm while doing it, try opening your hand (fingers) when its up
Holding that kettlebell out directly in front of you to demonstrate in slow motion… did anyone else pick up on how much strength that requires?
It is a very clear and professional demo. I like it very much. I am age over 50 and follow it to do and qualify the ikff ckt level 1 requirement for 16kg within 2 weeks.
That was a great technical explanation and visual demonstration…Simple Clear Consise…. You really need to put out more videos man..Thanks alot
Thank you!! Thanks to your video my wrists are pain free lol and not bruised anymore lol
Absolutely valuable advice. Even the most experienced should learn from it.Thank you very much in deed.
Shooting some hoops might have been the whitest thing I’ve heard someone say
Thank you for saving my wrists…I was about to scrap this exercise.
Thanks for this. Got a kettlebell as a bday gift a month ago and have been working on getting these right.
This video demonstrated what I was doing wrong and helped me correct it almost instantly.
Keep up the good work!
good luck trying this, better off doing standard snatche and getting used to the banging
I went from having never done these to doing a set of 15 with no bashing after watching this video. Fantastic demo, all KB instruction vids should aspire to be this quality.
This is hands down the best tutorial on how to do the kettlebell snatch I’ve ever seen. Much respect maestro.
Very helpful video. Appreciate the content always. Underrated channel!
Excellent video, lowered weight to practice and it has really helped using this technique
Good technique.
But funny that you HAD to use a heavy weight to show off. (Your face was turning all red). Ha ha
Would love to have a couple of weeks of training from Mike! Really like the way he broke things down on both methods of dropping from the top of the snatch position.
every tip you ever posted helps alot, regarding this tip, i see loads of people with thumb pointing backwards, any thoughts on the subject?
Here are a few other ways to insert your hand so it doesnt smash your wrist https://youtu.be/HAuLM8_ZhvI
Looks like it still bangs on the wrist only not as forceful as when it rotates around in your grip. Even with your hand punching up the weight of the kettlebell is impacting your forearm I can see it. So basically it just hurts less than before but it will still get sore.
seems like a lot of really good ways to break yourself. no thanks. what is the point?
Thank you for this. Been trying to figure out the snatch, and this instruction was very clear and logical.
Good demo! Would like to see the “punch trough” in slow motion so folks can understand the finesse needed to accomplish repositioning the KB correctly for the OH press (and to avoided forearm injury).
Started working out to Steve Cotter’s workouts a few months ago. Went on youtube to make sure I’m doing everything right and you are providing the most clear and concise explanations for the moves for a beginner like me, thanks a bunch.
fantastic! solved my issue with bruising. thank you for the technique
Hi Mark! A great video and a great channel! I get pain on my forearm from the snatch going down part, especially with heavier kettlebells. I’m pretty good with the snatch otherwise (not banging my wrist/forearm), but the ballistic movement when the kettlebell goes down creates this pain. It’s in the outer side of my forearm just below the elbow. Any ideas to fix this?
Thx, just today tried snatching KBs with a bangign and realized Iwas doing it wrong.
Thanks man! Now hopefully after my next workout I won’t have purple forearms.:-)
You need a slow mo portion of the video to really see it in action!
Yiiii. A polished wooden floor. Man that’s brave 4 you fool-hardy 4 me.
I REALLY hope people aren’t actually listening to this guy. Seriously, if you even think about the physics of this for a minute the logic immediately falls apart. I highly recommend anyone looking for Kettlebell technique advice to talk to an actual certified Kettlebell Coach. (SFG or RKC specifically)
I learned on my own how to do this properly. Your video just confirmed what I was already doing properly. Unbelievable that people continue doing it wrong even though it causes them pain.
I mean… are you for REAL? I m sure you are kidding since he is wearing kettlebell lifting shoes:-)
I agree with this because I saw the same video. My snatches do not have a swing element to them at all. I’m not even thinking ‘swing’. Just a vertical pull as you said and just passed horizontal I ‘punch’ towards my palm and the bell slots and locks perfectly at the top of the movement. I agree with you 100 percent, but of course Steve is the man and this technique is good for those who choose to follow it.
Great videos!! I’ve been using KB’s for a decade and your instruction is the best I have seen.
The first phase is intertia which is a swing and the second part is a vertical accelertion pull. So it’s both.
Steve’s a master of the kettlebell, but I found Zav Evenesh’s video on KB technique much more helpful. The trick is to a) hold the handle with your palm of hand facing outwards (thumb turned towards you), b) then when doing the snatch, stop thinking of the snatch as a swing, imagine it more like a vertical pull, then c) at the top, just before reaching the vertical position, imagine you’re making a little punch, and d) always lock out in a vertical pisition (KB directly in line with shoulder).
here is a much more sensible and safer one Kettlebell Snatch Technique https://youtu.be/xQqCyl-2ixQ Mark Wildmans channel is much more common sense and practical. loads of good info
This is horrible.
The second pull phase is like an upright row and then receive the kettle bell.
At no point in a snatch anything should your hand be 2 feet in front of your face (.21 seconds)
Very good and instructional about kettlebells snatch however a real kettlebell instead of an air one would be fantastic
How is that in any way a snatch? I take it by calling it a snatch it is supposed to have something in common with the Olympic lifting barbell movement? In a ‘snatch’ the weight stays close to the body and when high enough the body moves under the weight with a full extension of the arm. This is a kettlebell swing which finishes with an extended arm.
How to work your momentum muscles with as little tension as possible. ♂️
This, imo, looks like more of an exaggerated KBell swing…..period
Many instructors teach that the thumb must go turned backwards. So which is right? I am confused now
This video is way too long. I came here to see the proper form for a snatch, not watch 10 minutes of talking
Seriously #CrossFit I love your shit but please get it right, you got tons of money, put a freaking quality check between your social media and marketing team. “Deadlift to the hip”??? What? Hand on the leg?! This is a cross between Swing and Hang Snatch, make choice and use proper naming. There is DEAD Snatch, Hang Snatch and Swing Snatch, this is some crappy hybrid, which is ok if it makes sense, but the problem is, you didn’t intend it to be. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg… look, is it super bad? No. Seen much worse, but as a worldwide organisation with thousands of people looking up to you, you need to show better demos. You have too. Am I perfect, no, but I’m not CrossFit with tons of money and hundreds of thousands looking up to me, so get your shit right, it’s not the first time, there are sooooo many of your official demos that are shit, and also that by your brand partners… FFS
funny how finally they are adapting this move. took them long enough, this guy here almost has it right. Glad they are adopting the KB snatch hopefully they expire the American Swing.
Snatch seems to be relatively safe only with a barbell. Single-handed KB and DB variants require so good technique and control to avoid back injuries..
Nice movie. However you can learn about workouts more. Just google for Unflexal instructions.
I’ver read experts say this is a horrible movement with a KB or Olympic lifting. especially if exhausted. having the shoulder stop that fast quick movement with heavy or moderate weight does damage.
