Mileage Building for the Half Marathon Walk. Once you have a good base established, walk a long day once a week, gradually increasing your mileage. Walkers do well by increasing their long day by 2 miles every 2 weeks. Follow the Half-Marathon Training Schedule if you have 13 weeks to train before your event.16-Week Half-Marathon Walk Training Schedule Find a Walker-Friendly Half-Marathon and Set the Date. Your first step is to find a walker-friendly half-marathon where Build Your Base Mileage First.
If you are a beginner, or you’ve been inactive for a couple of months. All you need to do is: Double click the box titled “Enter Your Goal Race Pace” Enter in the minutes and seconds of your goal race pace, i.e. how many minutes you want to take to complete each mile of Your marathon and half marathon finishing times will then pop up automatically!Long Walks: The key to getting ready to finish a half marathon is the long walk, progressively increasing in distance each weekend.
Over a period of 12 weeks, your longest walk will increase from 3 to 10 miles. Don’t worry about making the final jump from 10 miles in practice to 13.1 miles in the race.Don’t slouch at the shoulders.
Keep your back straight but just give a slight lean to your upper body at your waistline. Keep your abs tucked in tight to increase your core engagement. I have my new half-marathon runners run four times a week. Two of these runs are what I call quality runs and two are base maintenance runs. The quality runs consist of a mid-week tempo run and a weekend long run.Designed for beginning runners or anyone who is planning to run the half marathon distance for the first time, this training plan is based on five days of running per week, with the once-a-week long run set on Sundays. See 12-week training plan here ».
Before you begin this program, you should be able to complete a sustained 60-minute walk, and several days a week you should be taking 45-minute walks. The trick is progressively longer workouts. That way, you’ll be prepared when it’s time to plan a full-day hike in September or a walk of over four hours in October. For maximum training benefit, aim for six days of walking per week, including two easy 45-minute walks, plus each of the following key workouts spread over the week.
And since rest is essential, take one day off each week. 1.hill workouts. tempo walks. rest days. Plan to walk or cross train 4-6 days per week. Build mileage slowly each week.
Give yourself at least 5 months to train. Instead of focusing on distance, you’ll often train by time. In your peak weeks before the marathon, you’ll have a long walk of up to 4 1/2 hours.
Training for a half marathon takes several months, so pick a race far enough into the future that you’ll have time to get fully prepared. If you’re a beginner, plan to train for 20 weeks before racing. If you’re an intermediate runner, give yourself 16 weeks. If you’re an advanced runner, train for 12 weeks.Run your first half marathon with a 4-2 run-walk ratio to allow your body a strong race finish and to cover a new personal record distance (13.1) with the run-walk strategy.
It’s a fantastic race. This 12-week half-marathon training plan starts with periods of walking interspersed with periods of running. Your longest walk/run the first week is four miles, and you work up to race-ready over three months. Bonus: Sundays and Fridays are rest days! (Related: The Magical Powers of Spending a Weekend Focusing on Workout Recovery).
I don’t recommend that first-time half marathon participants try for a time goal. Do the first one to finish, running/walking at a comfortable training pace. 2. To begin this program, you should have done a long run/walk within the past 2 weeks of at least 3 miles.

podcast. you never know how long your walking when your laughing.
So I was actually going to do this challenge when I first saw the beginning of this video but then I finished watching it and saw how much you talked about it hurting/damaging your body I changed my mind. You seem like you are an extremist. You aren’t really into “health”, you don’t really know what to do so you just do things overkill. I changed mine to 30 days of movement with diff miles on each day and will listen to my body and give it what it needs. I’ve lost 20lbs and the way I did it was through small lifestyle changes consistently over time, not wrecking havoc on body with extremes. I’m just confused by your whole channel, it doesn’t seem healthy at all. I’m finally unsubscribing but I wish you luck on figuring out.
not sold on the negative split strategy. can be useful maybe for beginners that do not know their potential/limits yet but if you can accelerate in the second half of a race you are probably not using your full potential. consistent speed is more efficient. I don’t think pro runners do negative splits. mile repeats are great though and I love the channel by the way.
You should do another week of only potatoes without the marathon. I’m curious how much you will lose!
I know this video is older but thank you so much! I’m doing a Disney half without doing a 5k or anything beforehand.
Well done
But I was really curious to know how the sweet potato challenge ended up results wise. How did your friends go with it?
Currently training for my first half marathon on July & found your video. You shared some very solid advice & honest experiences that boosted my spirit. I hope you’ll do more races & videos in the future. Keep on running!
Excellent.
You did learn many lessons from your half. You have given a number of easy to understand, honest and useful tips for the first time runner well done (gosh, that sounds patronising!)
If you don’t mind I’ll give some tips-for-teens based on what I have found to be useful/not useful…
Running jacket I often see newbies with jackets tied around their waist after about 1mile of runs in spring/summer /fall. One needs to remember that as you run your temperature will be 15-25 degrees F hotter than when on the start line. I therefore always have a packable /foldable jacket I can take on/off and stuff into the pocket of my shorts/fanny -pack (we call it a bum -bag here in UK) these can be a ‘fancy’ branded one or I’m sure as in UK there are ‘own brand’ ones. Of course Amazon might be the place to visit.
Body glide It’s a matter of choice but on longer runs I use Vaseline on areas that may rub/chafe (including preventing marathon runners nipple) I also rub it on my feet/between my toes.
Gu type gels I find them to be unpleasant tasting, sticky and a financial rip-off. I will use whatever it takes to get through a run and worry about vitamins before and after. I’ll eat jelly beans (ordinary ones, not overpriced sports beans) pretzels (mmm salty!)
Thank goodness you didn’t mention Kinesiology Tape that would have set me off….
I liked the running socks, never seen that style with the flappy-thing before.
Happy days!
The majority of people can take breaks and walk to complete a marathon.. This wasn’t that difficult. Actually run it next time. Then you’ll truly feel discomfort.
2:21 “Pink Himalayan Sea Salt?” Pink Himalayan Salt is a rock salt. Oh well, maybe Himalayan mountain range was under oceans once upon a time, or maybe it was a mix of both salts. Anyway, good to know it exits
In what part of CA do you live? i want to move there because of the mountain views and am actually considering it.
Awesome job! I’m really impressed. I saved this video to “watch” (mostly listen!) while walking myself! It was quite inspiring-got me thinking about seriously upping my steps! I can really tell you lost weight in your face. Keep up with the physical challenges!
This is so inspiring! I can’t do the time commitment due to having kids but I’m going to do a 5 mile a day challenge.
Nice change up in content! I’ll consider upping my steps/time walking.
Best video ever! You’re the best! Workout routine in quarantine please?
Ahhhh! You are so cute! I am currently getting more and more into running. I am doing about 7.5-8 miles right now. I want to do a RunDisney run someday. Subbed ❤️✨
Kudos to you for finishing the race! Ironically enough, I have signed up for the 2019 Princess Half Marathon and it will be my first ever race so this was very informative and helpful for sure. Do you plan on running it again or any other ones?
I think that you should get a Dexa scan and see how much visceral fat you still have. You seem to carry more subcutaneous fat now, and that’s innocuous, from a health perspective. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t lose weight for your emotional well being, but I question whether losing more weight would add a minute to your lifespan at this point.
Me and my friends did a half marathon a couple days ago and we’re going to do it again in a week or so. Honestly I find it fun:)
I am running the scotiabank half marathon in Toronto soon it is my first one your are very cute thx for your tip
Just started running in May, ran my first 5k June 1st and got 36 minutes, decided to take it seriously and 2 weeks later came in 30th and got 26:37. This past Sunday as a part of my 2020 Marathon climb I ran a 5 mile race and finished in 38:55 beating my goal and expectations. I’ve learned so much from your channel, and used my personal mindset to focus and intensify these strategies to the point where I know I can do a half marathon, so I am. I’m down 80 pounds since the beginning of this year and in 8 weeks from now, I’ll be attacking my first half marathon thanks to strength training from my physical training friends, and diet advice from my nutritionist who’ve admired the transformation I put myself through, my own running routines, and now this one as well. Running is in your mind, if you want it, you’ll work for it, and if you recover correctly, the results will come. I would love to chat, or get in touch with you, but any tips or encouragement would be amazing. I’m “new” to running but thanks to your methods college athletes I went to school with call me a pro. I owe a lot to you folks over here.
This is extremely stupid to do. You are begging to get injured doing this. There is a reason you train for something first.
I’m so glad you’re physics active and not just sitting on the couch. Best part about losing weight and walking is that the more weight you lose the easier and longer you can walk
Great video!
I am planning to run a half marathon in a week and thinking of doing a 5k in a month. Is that too soon and if not how do we transition using these workouts?
I ran the past September my first 10k and up until then I ran only 5k or 6k at most (which was 2 to 3 times a week). That was the first time I ran 10km in a single run and the first time I got a nipple burn. Had no idea you could get that. From what I talked to someone else about this, you can also put some silicone on the nipples so the skin doesn’t rub directly with the water. Same goes for the feet, as I got blisters on both feet. Silicone or some other fatty balm (I use marigold balm and it is a somewhat hydrophobic while on the skin).
Will be running my first half marathon this March and started researching how can I improve my running:)
Also, thank you for all the info and cheers from Romania!
I seen you since you did your 56 days fasting and watched your struggles, but I admire your determination never giving up.Keep up the good work.
I haven’t watched your channel since Oct 2019. Now in May 2020, You look so vibrant and stunningly sexy. Good job Mariah!!
I was able to prepare for my half marathon training making use of this marathon training courses “Zοrοtοn Axy” (Google it). I ran a PR even if I only used Six weeks of the provided schedule! I`m now preparing for my marathon training use the guide, and now my training runs became so much better than my past marathon training courses. I ran another half during my marathon training program, and set another PR..
The Princess half marathon will be my first! Thanks for the tips. I’m so excited!
Love the video!! I got a flip belt for my race. My legs get so hot I need shorts or it looks like I peed myself
Amazing Ammar. Congrats on doing this and what inspiration Ammar for all who are battling mental health.
If I woke up to that water every day! Wow!Shout out to God for the awesome sunrise! I truly need you to take magnesium and potassium for your muscles. I also need you to do these walks for the rest of the summer and show us those sunrises. This was motivating!
OMG you are so cute…I went from chunky money to running a bunch of 5ks and 2 10ks these past few years to heyy guess who signed up for a half marathon in December! I am stoked yet nervous bc 13.1 miles sounds scary…but I have run a few long distance mud runs so I hope I don’t die lol
I’m training for a 10k and feeling like that’s hard!! Would love to run a marathon one day
Well done. I remember my first half in March 2017 and have my first 100 miler (162km) planned for Sept 2019. Today I went out for a planned 10 miles but ended up doing 26 for fun, just to try and see the sunset.
stay consistent. short runs a few times each week will benefit you a lot more than one long run.
for a fuel and hydration source, try Tailwind. it is good on the stomach, so no cramps or digestion problems and provides you with fuel and electrolytes. I have done 50 mile runs with just tailwind.
protect your toes. band aids around the toenails before running will help to keep you from toe blisters and losing nails.
invest in a waterpack/bladder. they can usually hold a waterproof jacket etc as well and once on, you dont really notice them. much easier than trying to run with a bottle.
rice, lentils and chia seeds cooked together are a great fueling strategy the day before.
keep going, because we want to hear about your first marathon too.
I love this! I’m sure you’ll be running a half marathon soon, but walking is just as great!
You’re awesome and entertaining. I love seeing what you’re going to try next.
Great video, thank you for these clear and helpful tips. And well done on completing the half marathon
4:10 Thanks man. Just did a 10 mile (Negative split) long run today. At a more aggressive pace too. My goal for this December is to run Sub 2 hours and now I feel like I can definitely do it after this aggressive long run. The last 4 miles ended being around 7 min pace. The duration was 1 Hour, 25 minutes
Just want to say thanks, I’ve been watching this channel like crazy for the last week. My wife and I signed up for a half marathon about 7 1/2 weeks and I need all of the help I can get.
Hi, I am wondering how long should I rest between running half marathons? There are a few I am planning to do this year but I want to make sure I have enough rest between the races. BTW I have been running 3 years and have done a half marathon, a 10 miler as well as a couple shorter distance races.
Are you thinking of doing one of the challenge races (10K+ half)?
Have you tried the “whole30”
Kind of a long one but would live to see you tackle it…
Yo nobody giving credit to the camera guy who had to run the thing with him
man no
this is so wrong
thats how you hurt yourself and can fuck up your joints and muscles for a long time
if you want to get healthier, both mentally and physically, you need to keep making little changes, there is no other way
and you promoting shit like this its toxic
Hi Larissa, thanks for the awesome helpful motivation video, I just subscribed to you any chance you could subscribe to me, I’m trying to get past 20 subscribers haha
you never rub your arms when running. Your arms move beside your body!
Hey, Audrey, my friend and I are planning to do this. We’re having a tough time planning a route, any tips or tricks for how you and Mia planned yours?
you are so cute. I will have a half marathon at the end of this year. Hope everything will be ok:). thank you
Who is this guy interrupting Nora’s video?
Back to the topic, for some reason i find easy to increase distance, but very hard to lift up the pace.
I’ve completed 59 videos. since I found this channel four days ago
Hi Larissa, I’m currently training for my first half marathon on january 2019 and it’ll be at World Disney World. I’m beyond excited and a little scared as well. I’m a newbie hahaha, i just started to run and train properly with a team last february but they encouraged me to suscribe to it. I’m mexican and this will be my first runner experience abroad and your video helped me to know a few tips. thank you! keep running girl! 😉
HELLO FANTASTIC RESULTS GOOD ON YOU. I WALK 10000 A DAY I AM INSPIRED TO DO MORE TODAY I LIVE IN AUSTRALIA WE ARE ALLOWED TO GO OUTSIDE AND EXERCISE ALL DAY IF WANT TO AS LONG AS YOU KEEP A 1AND HAFE METRE DISTANCE CHEERS MARIAH
Congrats! Your thighs look much thinner too! I knew you were eating only potatoes, hence the shin splints! Would love you to do your next challenge eating more balanced, pleeeeze! See what happens then…? You needed protein/collagen rebuilding, surely?:O)
Hi. How are you. Could you please give us the links or names to all the things you are recommending? Thank you. Awesome video.
Have you heard of mewing? There are instruction videos to learn it.
I’m adding this to my summer bucket list! I’ll just have to make a good route
You’re weight goes up, your weight comes down, your weight goes up, your weight comes down, your weight goes up your weight goes down
BINGE BINGE BINGE……starve starve starve
I know this is a biiiiit late, but this was literally me in the same year. In the fall of 2018 I ran in the Chicago Marathon with almost no training and on a sprained ankle. Every moment you shared brought up memories I will forever hold from that experience. The mental battle is a rough one, but it was very important in my life to this day. YOU GO DUDE!
I should probably have posted my comment AFTER whatching the video. I think this is pretty cool. Despite my slightly snarky first comment (dont youtube have an edit function?).
I know this was years ago but the marathon I did last year, there was people who had trained that dropped out way before you started saying you were having difficulty. You did amazing to even manage to run it! Just walking that distance is an incredible achievement. Gotta love the energy at events like this. Videos like this kick me in the gutt a bit though as I trained for mine and still finished in over 6 hours:P
Inner engineering online by Sadhguru Isha foundation. good luck, please look it up on google, this can change your life.
I think you should try to walk everyday just for 30-60mins max so it can be done in a more sustainable manner. But great challenge, keep walking. It definitely helps with mental health as well.
Congrats on your half marathon!! I was never a runner either until 2 years ago. I hated running before!! But now I run ultra marathons on trails!! Funny how things change.
This was hilarious. I think running sucks and will still suck even after my first half marathon in Jan 2019. Why am I doing this?
try no training, 26 miles in the rain, that was 2011 LA Marathon but congrats though!!
Amazing inspirational video
Btw how did you qualify for Boston marathon??
When you’re feeling tired on a run, breathe more than you need.
As a 6 times marathon runner and knowing what exactly a marathon can do to your body I think these doing a marathon without training videos are just stupid, seriously stupid.Im going to get a lot of thumbs down for this comment but I’m right.
Why does the friend that was doing it with you lowkey look a bit like charli?
honestly this alone is friggen inspiration. whenever people share what makes them push thru the pain of a marathon i get emotional, because like honestly its friggen amazing
can you do a quarantine day in the life? i loveeee your channel btw
The only inspiring thing about this was that he didn’t quit. Besides that I don’t understand how anyone is saying this is inspirational when he straight up was lazy and did nothing to prepare
A lot of helpful tips packed into this one! Your finish line pics are adorbs!! TFS
Great video!! I enjoyed it ♀️
Thanks for sharing!!
New subscriber here ♀️
Let’s support ❤️ each other
Curious why you chose that footwear instead of comfortable walking shoes? And would you try different footwear next time? BTW. Love rule breakers too
this is dope!!! I love your channel so much. You and Mia both seem so sweet and kindhearted and it’s always a joy to watch your videos
Am trying to do 20k steps a day, just transitioning from 10k steps last week. I always wonder why no one ever talks about massaging your legs, thighs, arms after exercise. Really helps to prevent soreness the following day. I also use the Japanse method….folded towel under your back and lying down stretching arms and legs. Helps a lot. Like watching as it gives me more push to continue and not to stop.
I’m enjoying this series very much Jen not that I see myself walking a marathon any time soon but it’s interesting to learn more about what it takes!
Could you explain why your quarantining with Mia? Just curious:)
I made use of this marathon training program “Zοrοtοn Axy” (Google it) for my half marathon training, and only used Six weeks of the schedule provided, and ran a PR! I am presently making use of it for my marathon training, and am running much better training runs compared to previous marathon training courses. I ran another half during my marathon training courses, and set another PR..
Unfortunately can tell you from experience that it’s possible to run a marathon without training. 10/10 would recommend training first.
That’s so fun! My friend and I run cross country, I should recommend we do this sometime!
Meadowlark dairy! I knew it as soon as I saw. That place is seriously the best. It’s super cool to see a YouTuber that lives in the same area!
wow good for you girls!! this is awesome:) you’re doing more than people on the couch!
This is an improvement on the sexiness of this channel. Plenty of cleavage. I can see she is is trying to pump up the energy of her content and all that b-roll but let’s not forget what’s important here. The tease.
Congrats on finishing it! I definitely wouldn’t have been able to;)
Ok I’ve watched it three times, but still not certain. So do i do the mile repeats on say Monday, the negative splits on Tues and the drills on Wed? Or all three on the same day? Looking forward to the drills. Thanks
My first half marathon was the Avengers half at Disneyland last November and I totally agree! Finishing that race was so overwhelming, I totally cried lol. I can’t wait for my next one:)
omg I saw ur TikTok and I was like wow that’s a lot of walking hahah
ok but why did i choke up when you were crossing the finish line
Hi Nate, I’m new to running.. what do you mean by 3 by 1 Mile Repeats or 4 X 1 mile repeats?
Maybe this is not the place to write this but when i listened Ammar talking about depression it really got me, i know what it is because i’ve been and i’m still there. I feel super happy to see that his life has become basically good for him, i see him all the time doing things that he likes, hanging with his friends, having people that support him a lot, the things i mentioned are super important when you are struggling with mental issues. I would love to have that.. i’ve been sick since i can remember (i’m 21 now) and i don’t think this is ever gonna stop, my family doesn’t care, i don’t have any close friend to talk, i don’t have money to see a therapist, i have nothing, sometimes i would like to die, i love i REALLY love life but i can’t continue like this and i don’t know what to do anymore
I did this yesterday. Mapped a course out in Google Maps (I’m in quarantine but have a tiny outdoor area to spend time). 184 laps, 8 hours and 9 minutes later, and I ran my first marathon. No training either. I’m feeling it today!
OMG I always wanted to do that and now you are my MOTIVATION
I’m 12 and doing my first 10k at Disney in a few months, I’m so nervous and my mom is like the toughest coach! If I am a second behind the 15 minute mark for only 1 mile she will say YOU ARE NO LONGER GETTING A MEDAL, THE CAR WILL PICK US UP NOW. When I first started training I would cry when she said that but now I’m thankful because I’m good at running
In fact to carry on from my last comment I won’t even do a 10k race without training for it.
Really falling in love with your channel. I have my first half marathon in 10 weeks. Been running for years but I never followed a plan. I’m interested in your first tip here about 3-4-5 x 1 mile once per week. Thanks. Amazing channel I’m really glad I found you guys:)
Congrats! My friend and I are hoping to run a half marathon once the Covid 19 is over. On another note, how do you whiten your teeth?
guys she’s not even talking that fast, chill out
I loved your tips by the way! gonna start training now so hopefully in 12 weeks I’ll be ready for my first half marathon
Hi I’m 13 years old and I’m fairly active. To do a marathon is on my bucket list so I was thinking I wanna do it this year…i realized it was a bit unrealistic without literally killing myself so it’s almost April and am thinking of doing a half marathon this year! Do you think I can do it? How long did you train for and what was your finish time? Ps your so pretty
Thanks for all the love, guys! So blessed to be supported by such a kind and loving community. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any feedback or questions. (@ammarxz on instagram) Please download “Born to Run” by Christopher McDougall and listen to it. I promise it will make a difference in your life. <3
How does it work tho? I cant belive how low is your daily caloric need
I just ran 10K every day for a week for charity and I actually loved it (never thought I’d say that lol) think I’m going to sign up to do a half marathon after watching this vid it just seems so scary
Another great video with detailed information. I love the mile repeats. I think practicing your race pace with one mile intervals has great value in all the aspects you described and especially in teaching you pace. Good job again!!
I’m walking a marathon tomorrow for fun during quarantine with no training and this just gave me ALLL the motivation I need!!
You look so pretty good in your office, a very young professional look
Ran my first half marathon last year… Now i run half marathons for fun in my weekends when i feel too.. a marathon is on my list for THIS year….. And NEXT year a half ironman or even a full ironman! Simply Looove the feeling of being active.
I really loved this video! Running a half marathon is on my bucket list this year.
Am I the only one thinking about the how I met your mother episode where Barney ran a marathon without training?
Hi, I have a question. I’ve been running regularly since March this year (until two weeks ago, 30 minutes 2-3 times a week on a treadmill at about 11-11.5 km/h) and sporadically for the past few years. I’ve recently started running outside (so much better!) and arranged with a friend to do a 10km at the end of September. I’ve run over 10km five times now (that’s five times in my life!). My best time doing just 10km is 49:22 and I’ve just done my longest run 13.74km (8.5 miles) in 1hr 20. My friend wants me to do a half-marathon instead. I’m not sure if I should, since I haven’t been running properly for that long. I don’t want to overdo it. I’m 43, but generally fairly fit (I think), BTW:-). Is it too soon, do you think?
Im wondering how much time i should give a rest before a half race, can i run the day before or stop run a day or two before and restore more energy?
I am new to this or maybe I am dense. 3×1 mile? Exactly what does that mean? I apologize if this is an elementary question.
I am doing first half marathon Dec.1. Can you tell me what a mile repeat is?
I didn’t train at all and two weeks ago I ran a half marathon in 2hours and 5minutes. I’m 16
After my first half marathon race, I collapsed as well. Was happy my sister was there with a jacket, because it was 14C and I was sitting on the cobblestones. That race was as a preparation for Olympic distance triathlons though, so I was in good shape and I was used to running. Had done 25km runs in training a lot during the winter, but it never compares to a race… the willingness to finish well, and finish better than others just got the better of me. So much so that in the last 5km, I figured I should just empty the tank. I ran those in under 3min/km, with my last km in 2min29s.
Only time I have been more tired in my life is when I ran another half marathon in the morning and then had to attend a party at my rugby club, taking charge of a bunch of events for kids first, then refereeing 2 games, coaching for a seniors match and then having a braai after!
Just this week started my 2nd half marathon training plan so it’s perfect timing. 10 week plan this time.
My 1st & only Half was done in 2:25:36 so I wanna be faster this time.
Anyone who does this and gets into difficulty does not deserve to receive medical attention on the day or for any later chronic condition that results from this self inflicted trauma. Start with 5K runs, join a club and spend at least 3 months doing progressively and lots of long slow runs.
I did this last year with my dad and it was bruuuutal. I couldn’t walk for days afterwards but it was so worth it. The last six miles were definitely the hardest for me. I vlogged the whole day for my channel as well:)
Please have a series of training videos for half marathon run from warm ups to cool down excersise…Split into realistic weeks including strength training in between
Thanks
Thank you for the advice. i plan to do a HM in October and possibly the Honolulu Marathon in December.
Thanks for the video! I’m running the Princess Half for the third time in a few weeks and I’ve slacked on training . Your videos given me some great tips! Are you running again this year? I’m so excited for the race!
I had never run a race or really ran at all before training for and then running my first Disney half. I think serious training and shoes are at the top of the list. The carb loading thing is totally overhyped. This is more for longer runs, like a full marathon. Just be well rested, eat a light breakfast day of the race and bring some gu gel. I wouldn’t suggest stopping for water at every station either otherwise you’ll be in the port-a-pottie lines at every turn. This was a cute video though and had some good suggestions. Thanks for sharing and congrats.
I did a marathon with some training. I finished it up in 3H30min06sec. The last kilometers are the hardest. I did though and ran more than 1000 kilometers 1 year prior the marathon.
So I was going to enter my first half marathon May 4th. Just recently started running maybe a couple of months ago. I’ve been running in hiking shoes which I’m guessing is not helping my knees. Because they get sore. I like to run trail with rock and can be pretty rugged. Can you suggest a type of shoe for that? Also I’ve ran 8 miles a couple of times and 10 miles once. I’m uncertain if I should be trying for this half marathon….I’m in good shape but again just started running a couple months back. Thanks
i wanna do this but my mom wouldn’t let me walk that far alone plus i can’t see me friends
This is way out there but I figured since we both like to travel I’d shoot my shot. I LOVE Everything about Disney and I’ve always wanted to run a marathon (even tho I know I’d be so out of breath after 3 minutes haha) but in the next year or so would you want to meet up in Florida sometime that they have a Disney themed marathon and run it together?!
Can I ask what size of shirt you are wearing? I signed up for a disney race but I keep going back an forth on which size to ask for in the running shirt…? Thanks for all the help; loved your video and just subscribed!
The cleavage on day 4 is really doing it for me. Can we see more of this?
Amazing that you can do that without training and look so comfortable. Great video!
I know its not a popular distance but could you make a 15K video?
Ok after hearing your awesome run iv just entered my first half
i love meadowlark dairy! one of the best ice cream shops! also will you be making a video about your college stats/what schools you applied to??
OMG, as a marathoner, i do dislike this video and your experience. You should use Google to search about cases who die in marathon run without training. If you guys want to try and win your limit, you can try in HM (21.1km) race. After 30km, it’s not problem about mental or spirit, it’s very DANGEROUS for your body because it cant be adapt to the race. Ok, you finish the race without problems, i think you are lucky. But, PLEASE DONT RECOMMEND YOUR FOLLOWERS TRY IT WITHOUT TRAINING, it can kill them!
Im going to try and run my first marathon ever (half) in October! This was so helpful. So glad I watched this. I have about 11.5 weeks to go!
btw you inspired me to do this! my friends and I did 10 miles today to train
Great video Nate and The Run Experience! I’m adding this to my mechanics session weekly! -adam
I did 20,000 steps for several months, almost got hit by a car 3 times, and a bum wanted to hit me with a 10 lb rock. This is Los Angeles, seen people shit on the street. All underpasses are scary. Stay on the beach.
I didn’t even know they had walking marathons! How awesome! Great video:)
dude, i cant even run 10 feet… i mean, i could probably bike the marathon, but the longest ride ive gone for was 4 miles so… idk man
Wait, you can’t even walk outside by yourself in Puerto Rico? Right here in Ireland you can go out for physical activity as often as you like, as long as you stay within 2km/1.2miles from your home, and do not gather with people from another household. But people naturally stay away from eachother
Oh my gosh your finish line photos are amazing! How did you know what photographer to look at? Or did you just get lucky haha. This video is so helpful! I’m hoping to run my first half marathon next year for the princess half and it’s so nice to hear from a first race runner!
Hello!!!
yes it’s possible running the marathon because you stop like 100 times and even got food LMAO!
Great job! Actually, really impressive. if you didn’t use to be a runner before! What was your finishing time, by the way?!
I’m doing one in November and I’m so excited!!!! Thanks for all of your tips! Also weird question but what sports bra did you use?
I’m trying to find one that’s comfortable but hold everything together.
I`m training for my full marathon with the help of this marathon training courses “Zοrοtοn Axy” (Google it). I decided to begin again with a improved plan. I`ve done 5K`s and 10K`s and half marathons and made a decision to take the next huge step towards the full marathon, and I learned a great deal from this book. I highly recommend this excellent training..
Me and my best friend wanted to do this and couldn’t decide….this is definitely a sign to do this
If you would run the same way you can talk you’ll be an elite
This video helps a lot. How may hours did you finish your half marathon? Thanks!
Awesome Video Larissa, full of great tips. I’ve signed up to run my first HM in April 2019!
Omg! You are a rockstar warrior! I’m so happy for you
Mariah, I love this idea! Have you tried Step bet? you can earn money for walking. Another tool for motivation. Thanks for the inspiration!
I didn’t have any plan yet. N dont know how to start n how to choose any program.
Most of mu time exercise in HIiT like badminton n futsal.
I just registered half marathon will be held at the end of november.
Anyone help me?
My question is what’s that “marathon medal” looking medal on the wall of his room?
Why do I have a massive feeling like this video is just one massive pretentious garbage? Dude ain’t even sweaty in any of those shots. WTF.
If you ACTUALLY did all that with no training at all, then I guess, good job.
how was the whole bathroom situation lol like did you just go into the bathrooms at public places?
From what you said on Gu/Energy gels in the video that you hadn’t ever had one until you raced? This could be potentially bad, as some GU’s and energy gels can make people cramp up. I always recommend testing out products during the training phase, that way race day doesn’t end up bad. Otherwise, this is a GREAT video!
I love this video and your personality. Thanks for sharing.❤❤❤
Have been a fan since your amazing fast journey. So glad to see you again
I’m so competitive to not even stop to stretch my own legs!
This is such a great video! So informative. Thanks for sharing. Wishing you lots of likes and subs!
I’m a former sprinter and soccer player and ran a half marathon without training. I finished at roughly 2 hours
this man stopped to get a croissant and STILL kept a 13 min mile time for 26 miles. insane.
Can’t say you ran a marathon when you walked the majority of it…sorry not sorry
Those 1.4k dislikes are safe idiots who disliked it because he said that thing about the Student against gun violence
I can ran 3hours with my normal speed and 1 hours with my full speed and can ran 10 hours with Amaar’s speed:)
HI audrey, I really like your videos and I just wanted to know where do you get your titles and writing????? ily
I’m 14 years old and in the future I want to run in a marathon bruh
Try a marathon drunk till early morning and go for it. I did a 10K
keep in mind eliud kepchoge or however u spell his last name ran 4:36 about every mile for 26.2 miles straight withought any rest
Planning on running the SF Half Marathon at the end of July, its going to be my first half and wanted to know what course I should run. The first half or second half?
my dad is running a double marathon this summer and i cant even imagine how its gonna be for him
Andrew Taylor (Spudfit) ate only potatoes (sweet & regular) for an entire year to break his addiction to processed food. He didn’t exercise that much, and lost about 120lbs to reach a healthy body weight. This is actually a really good way to reset your palate and beat cravings for processed foods. He did the challenge in 2016, and documented it all on his youtube channel. He has maintained his weight loss to this day.
Awesome. What electrolyte drink did you have? Amazing results for only 1 week!
All good advice:). I’d recommend a foam roller, throwing your legs up on a wall, or doing a nice, cool-down walk through the Disney parks afterwards, because I think if I would’ve laid down or stopped right away, I would’ve been so sore. Congrats again!
omgosh I’m so happy I stumbled upon your channel while looking up princess 1/2 videos! You seem to be such a cool down to earth person which Is so awesome and I look forward to more videos! Quick question, What brand are the socks? I can’t seem to find any like that online ): I need better socks than what i’m using right now for my longer runs.
pretty sure everyone here will agree that your the begginer lmao
Yes it is possible! As long as you say that you can do it. I did that too, not training, smoker and my partner left me one day before the marathon . But I did it and finished. Even tho older people were passing by me..
Expensive shoes, socks, headphones etc might distract from the discomfort if you haven’t put in the miles by training properly beforehand. But cheap gear will do just fine if you break it in by actually training in the weeks leading up to the race
Although I will say WELL DONE ON FINISHING AND BET YOU HAVE THE BUG NOW
Great tips! I’m doing first half marathon this weekend. I just signed up yesterday and the most I’ve ever ran was 4.6 miles. Wish me luck! Lol
your channel literally gives me all my good ideas to not be bored with friends
That was stupid, unhealthy and dangerous….you are lucky you didnt hurt yourself…
Imagine having a life so devoid of purpose that you would want to get arrested to ‘see what it’s like’. What a something!!!!♀️
I am excited! Thanks for the videos! I have run a few 5ks and 10ks but never a half marathon.. planning on my first this summer!
I started challenging myself by running after losing over 100lbs while in college after being overweight most of my life. I’ve done 25 races in my lifetime, 1/2 marathons and 12k’s, and I ran my first full marathon 2 years and trained through a combo of cross training, sprinting, weigh training, biking, hiking, and distance running. My longest runs during marathon training were 10 12 miles and while this would be considered under training, I didn’t struggle during the race because my body was conditioned for the endurance that comes with these longer runs. Pacing yourself and using proper technique is also key, especially if you like me, have had knee issues in the past. I see so many runners who sprint out the gate and end up hurting themselves because they are so focused on time and not on finishing safely. I chose to incorporate walking elements that wouldn’t aggravate my knee as I’ve done in past races and didn’t mind giving up time on the clock to make sure I didn’t hurt myself. Mindset is also everything. The biggest obstacle to overcome, but it is possible. Well done, and while doing this without training is also possible, as others have mentioned, not recommended for those who haven’t had any sort of fitness training leading up to the day. So definitely don’t think a marathon is not within reach, but definitely do some training to ensure you have a fun and enjoyable experience.
Ok but I did this today with my 8 bestfriends
and it was the worst experience of my life
I have my first half in about 10 weeks so will try this thanks Coach Nate. Have you done a video on food/ drink whilst doing a half?
You are absolutely amazing ❤️ you’re such an inspirational person. I love you so much, you can redefine the mentalities and ways of the world
Thank you for the tips! training for my first half-marathon and the tips were really helpful!
I heard power gel is you have to drink it with water if you are eating it
You might want to add one paleo day. Wouldn’t it be nice to have turkey gravy with the potatoes?
Please do not try this. Set your goals as high as you want and seek for the sky, but do it smartly. Please, for your own good. Anyone, I repeat, anyone could run a marathon without training (by taking many long brakes like he did). But you most definitely won’t have any kind of impressive finishing time without training. Furthermore, you can get seriously hurt. Sitting on your ass your whole life and then running 40k in one day is not something your body is designed to do. Please do not take this as demotivating or me telling you you’re not good enough. A marathon is an achievable goal and a truly impressive one too (when done right, without brakes and so on). I recommend anyone to try it, just don’t be lazy and stupid about how you approach it, unless you want stress fractures of course. Doing this is just rolling dice with all kinds of injuries…
I’m trying to do over 4 miles evey other day. The first day was tuff I may been low on sodium. My shins were sore the next day.
anyone else got reminded of Barney Stinson from how I met your mother? I mean, this is great and crazy but what happened after?
I bet the heat had a significant impact in why you felt so crappy / out of it afterwards. I’m running my first half in May in the Redwoods. High 60s / low 70s. Haha! Good job though!!! Thanks for the tips!
the part with the socks was so crazy. didn’t heard anybody suggest a pear of socks. any sport socks would be good.
Did you guys do any training? I want to do this but I don’t feel like training I just want to go do it!!
This video is amazing! I have been looking for a real beginner video! I did my first half in September and doing another one tomorrow! Thanks for all your tips..
Wow! Slow down the talking speed a little and you could make a living giving presentations in public on How To Prepare for Marathons. Good job!
Out of all the videos re-capping the half marathon yours is by far the BEST!!!!! Did you and your sister get in the same corral? And what was your day like in the park after the race?
Thanks for the tip now im ready for the first half marathon this april
You had me until the gun violence part and then i said your an idiot
U r such an inspiration.. I ve never did a marathon but soo want to do one.. Thank you for this great video
Much love from Algeria
Tomorrow l will run the second half marathon training. I practice 10 weeks for Half Marathon program. First l can finished in 2:30 hours. And the second l hope l will run in time 2:15 hours. I’m beginner for half marathon. Thanks for your video.
I wanna run a marathon just to pass up everyone well not everyone but a lot of people
I been running short distances almost 20 years and completed five half marathons in the last 24 months but never a full. I started this marathon training “Zοrοtοn Axy” (Google it) just as I decided to go for a full marathon. This book is very informative and provides a good deal of excellent tips. I was able to complete my first marathon and got to a Boston marathon..
Mariah!! I’ve been watching your vids for a while and we seem so similar I want to be friends with you! Lol
