Nobody should start taking this thinking it’s a miracle cure for anxiety or depression. It may be helpful but mental disorders often have deeper underlying issues you need to uncover and face, rather than using this as a solution. It might be a helpful tool, but at best it should be a springboard for developing better habits and values.

I took 1000mg just before speaking in public for the first time in my life. You have no idea the kind of rush I received from that. Little to no anxiety, and I used to be a total shut-in. I’ll speak again in 4 months with regards to vaping. They’re trying to ban sales of flavored e-liquid. We were able to push the decision back 4 months for another vote.

Bret, so your saying there’s no overdose risk but your suggesting not to take too much like more then 2 g is too much. After all, you said that the body flushes it out. For me all nootropics other then l-theanine are a hoax, just go on and watch any modafinil youtube review video. You will usually see someone in a dark room who looks depressed, tired, and claims he is enlightened by this drug and ahead of anybody else.

I done coffee with l-theanine this morning, I felt very drowsy for a few hours until I had my coffee break at 10:30, I then was very alert and feeling great until lunch when I started to have panic attacks out of the blue, that feeling sucked balls, never again am I touching coffee, stinks anyway, also l-theanine is on its last legs 2.

Do you have any advice for people going through post acute withdrawals from opiates/opioids? Not the acute sickness but the lingering effects that persist for months after detoxing, i.e. low energey, depression, insomnia etc. I’ve been off my medication now for nearly 6 weeks and still battle these symptons, though your videos have helped me immensly with eating healthy and feeling somewhat better. Hi Thomas. I am 60 years old and have recently found out I have had ADD all my life, I always new there was something “missing” so this was a confirmation. Most of what you talk about in this video is how I feel a lot of the time, lack of, or only short term focus, anxiety and occasional lethargy. I actually ordered some L Theanine yesterday after finding out about it on another channel, but as you are pretty much my “go to” guy for things like this, I thought I would find out what you had to say about it…….. and all that you do say is a huge revelation to me. Thank you so much for making and sharing all these amazing videos my friend, I think you must be helping way more people than any Doctor/GP could ever dream of. PS. I also struggle to sleep more than 5 or 6 hours a night, so hopefully it helps with this too.

L-theanine has helped me with crippling anxiety. I seen the side effects of others who taken prescription drugs and so I tried it out by using nothing and trying breathing and mental workouts that worked pretty good. But then it got worse and soon I felt my first panick attack, but thought it was an actual heart attack. Losing my son didn’t help either and soon I was at my wits ends, constant panic attacks, thoughts of despair and hopelessness. All nighters worrying about everything my mind could possible think of. It was so debilitating. Then I heard about L-theanine, I tried it when I had a panic attack and my goodness, relief in about 15 minutes. Sucks I have to rely on buying a bottle every month but at least I sleep and have my life back. I can’t promise it will work for everyone but it truly worked for me. I feel no side effects, I have gone off it for a month and felt no withdrawals. Those thinking about trying it I would recommend it.

Im surprise that every review says they dont experience side effects. I took 200mg with coffee, instead of being productive, I didnt get any work done because I felt drowsy. I tried out L-Theanine and by itself it makes me relaxed. Maybe too relaxed. Kinda reminds me of the effects of smoking weed. I combined it with coffee and it helps against caffeine’s side-effects. The thing is that when I’m too relaxed I am not bothered to care about doing some stuff. For example making my room, repairing something in the house, working on projects, going out, etc. Generally makes you more lazy. These are my observations after only two days. Maybe in the longer run things can be different.

It’s a proven fact that caffiene will raise your cortisol levels and as well all know cortisol is responsible for stress, stress causes anxiety…it’s not the main cause but does have a part to play. Just give up caffiene,the anxiety will go away within a few weeks. I know multiple people who would suffer from panic attacks while around large groups of people or just while under stress in general. What did they all have in common? They all took large amounts of caffiene…once they stopped the anxiety went away. Leave the coffee alone! Once your body gets reacclimated to not needing it you will feel so much better! (Like you did in your youth)

I picked up a bottle of this to help with mental focus and clarity primary to do well on a big exam which normally gives me test anxiety. I have normally taken my supplements at night, however, my test is at 8 a.m. I keep seeing this as a great mix with coffee and thought I would give it a try. I tend to be an anxious person at times, especially with this huge test on the line. I’ve had some negative experiences with some supplements in the morning, such as zinc causing nausea, and I was wondering if there is anything I should know about taking this on a relatively empty stomach. So I started taking Elevate which is basically L-Theanine mixed with other stuff. It had a huge positive effect on my mood and productivity however I noticed when it would start to wear off I would get unnaturally exhausted. I’m not too sure why. I do have high prolactin levels(not super high like most people) so maybe my brain is trying to balance the hormones? I don’t know. Looking for some guidance.

Hi, thank you for all your advice on tackling anxiety. So I tried the sports research l-theanine with caffeine and can definitely sense more mental focus. The only problem is that it upsets my stomach. After doing some research, apparently MCT oil can have this effect. Would you recommend using their L-Theanine supplement then getting a caffeine supplement so that the ratios are correct? If so, which caffeine supplement can you recommend? Or should I just get an entirely different L-Theanine + caffeine supplement? From the ones I’ve seen, the L-Theanine used isn’t the Suntheanine used in Sports Research. Thanks for your help
Yes, my functional Doc recommended replacing Diazepam with L-Theanine (200mg) and L-Theurine (2000mg). So tomorrow I will start with L-Theanine first until I see how it works. I did wean down from diazepam for 8 months so instead of going SOLO on this I hope L-Theanine helps me replace diazepam.

A must for coffee junkies, but seriously a very good amino acid but still I think NAC gives you overall more benefits and you can not take much supplements because it will get annoying with time. Green tea and mate tea will give me my L-teanine I need:)

Hey I just purchased some L Theanine online after watching your video, I will let you know what I think when it arrives, I heard you say at the end of the video that it works well with coffee, I always get a “buzz” after a coffee or 2 as well. So am looking forward to trying it with my morning coffee. I just wonder if you should try it without the coffee too, like a control test to see that it’s not just the coffee giving the effects?

I have one question and I hope someone can answer that:
If we drink caffeine too often, our body will get used to it over time meaning that it will increase the amount of adenosine. This has the consequence that we must consume more caffeine than before to experience the same benefits as before. Only if we take a break of caffeine entirely, we can reduce the amount of adenosine in our body.
So my question: Does L-Theanine have any effect on the amount adenosine produced by our body when we consume it together with caffeine? I ask because there is this one supplement company in Germany that claims that the body won’t increase the amount of adenosine if we consume the caffeine with l-theanine and as a result, we could use their preworkout every time without getting used to it.

One Note: Theanine is amino acid which is quite easy to denaturate (spoil). In typical dried tea leaves there are little bioactive l-theanine. You should buy original matcha tea (ground manually, because of heat) to feel full benefits of l-theanine. Original matcha tea will never taste bitter. Bitterness is a sign that l-theanine content is spoiled.
Does L-Theanine help with high cortisol? I think that is why my anxiety is high in the mornings. I have been doing keto for a month and having all the other great benefits of the lifestyle change except for my anxiety has been high. I guess I’m not fully adapted. So would it be good to try this until I fully adapted? Thanks in advance!

Do you have a preference between whey/vegan and collagen protein? Since I started with L Theanine I’ve been a higher functioning human being. I have she worst ADD, and it’s rediculously hard to focus. I decided a couple months ago to stop taking Adderall after 8 years of use. I was prescribed when I was 11 years old. Please note although we would like a overnight miracle, nothing works in 2 days… I more like 2-3 weeks before you feel a difference. I was afraid to walk alone shop or do anything alone. That’s gone. since i take l theaniane i can handle coffee and weed again. both were giving me INSANE amountos of bad anxiety but now i am stoned and its a miracle that im not having a panic attackor any worryat all.
Not any more miraculous than a cuo of coffe, meaning it slighly affect my mind or i dont notice much at all. High doses has a calming effect but also seem to build a tolerance to it.
ONLY take this if you want to sleep half of the day, because this WILL make you sleep and ruin your plans.

DeLauer is spot on! I have severe ADHD. Without LTheanine and Panax Ginseng, I cannot focus on anything for more than 2 minutes. Glutamate is very high for me. If you are ADHD, I would suggest getting B Vitamins too. B6 and B12 make you focus better.

Nice review dude, would you say 50-150mg of L-Theanine would give any benefits for sharper cognition and reduced anxiety etc? obviously included with other vitamins but considering getting some in powder and trying it out being senior year uni student. Bought a bottle of the 200 mg. Took 3 about a half hour ago, I’m actually starting to feel good. I’m a big guy as you about 244lbs. And usually stuff doesn’t work on me, but I’m actually feeling it. So far so good.
Should I take this at night before I go to bed to get a better sleep as that’s my biggest concern regarding anxiety and panic attacks.

i have had panic attacks for over 5 years now, i stopped drinking coffee and wine and still had panic attacks all through the day, my life was surrounded by panic attacks. Some eastern medicines say to not mix your black (or coffee)and green teas based on the warming and cooling effects on your body. Therefore wait before having one to the next.
