Hi Mark, 3800 calories daily you must need to do a lot of exercise/burning calories to avoid gaining weight. Any advice on how to calculate how many calories we need daily to maintain our weight. I know this depends on gender etc etc but just wondering did you have a view on it. I do agree that diet + exercise is crucial for anybody who suffers from OCD and is on the road to recovery.

I’ve tried all the different diets and this seems to work best for me. The low-carb diets gave me no energy in the gym. This low fat diet turns me into a monster in the gym and cranks my metabolism all the way up. I may need to do some fasting off and on to shut down the candida overgrowth from all the carbs, but low-fat vegan feels like the truth.

Basically stay away from gluten, dairy and processed foods and you should be good. I agree there is a lot of sugar in fruits so I limit them to berries and bananas. I do eat a small sweet potatoes which has great health benefits. Eat real organic food and you should be good. I also think being 90% good allows you to cheat a little and still enjoy a healthy lifestyle.
You literally cant store protein as fat, your body does not convert it to fat. There was at least one 30 day study were the participants were fed lean rabbit meat, it was like 2000cal worth, the study had to be stopped halfway through because they were starving to death. Calories in/calories out is outdated science.

My big thing tends to be: I ate this, now what must I do to distract, compensate, off set it, do I feel sick, will it make me feel sick, oh no, what if I get hungry before I can eat next and it is too many calories, what if it makes me feel too full, for way too longwhat should I do, let’s focus on that feeling and monitor it constantly, so I can’t do anything else productive until I am allowed to eat again..just in case. all day
It is interesting to see when people have OCD that is around food, but not necessarily considered an eating disorder, and do wonder where the line blurs, or if it does, since it is very much just labels given. I have seen people with eating disorders have many different “reasons”/”themes” for doing that they do, and in my case, over the years those “reasons” change and morph, if nothing else just because my brain wants to keep doing the compulsions and reacting to fear. One thing I have read many times from doctors like Jeffrey M Schwartz and Ian Osbourne is that OCD is ego-dystonic, while EDs are usually typified as ego-systonic…I don’t think that is always(?) the case though.
And when I saw you were doing Cross Fit, I did wonder for a second if you were going to at least start Paleo, lol. Though I am not sure what kind of mental health cavemen had…

This was interesting to me as I’ve just started the keto diet being 39 years italian background I’ve grown up on a high carb diet all my life when I was young I was never fat only untill I had kids. Doing keto now to realise my kidneys are not working to well on this as my protein gets quite high so I’ve upped my natural carbs 40% and keep my protein moderate low was scared I wasn’t going to lose weight or cause some damage.well this video made me feel better thanks for your knowledge.

The problem is the logic, there is no such thing as an all carb diet, most vegetables and fruits and grains have proteins in them… you need proteins to functions… try eating just sugar or honey for a month.

Hahahahaha not news to me! I’ve been eating an 80/10/10 type of diet (carbs/protein/fat) for the past 3 years. Dropped my weight from 170lbs to 125lbs. I eat mostly sweet potatoes, potatoes, rice, beans and fruit.
Typical breakfast: baked sweet potatoes with sliced banana, berries and molasses (I LOVE molasses)
Lunch is leftovers typically.
Dinner: big ol pile of mashed potatoes with vegetable bean soup on top, lentil, split pea, something like that. Snacks are typically fruits. No oil or butter or milk added to the potatoes. To mash I use a little of the cooking water. I love eating this way. I feel awesome. Managed to get fit enough to run a marathon. I run 6 miles a day plus weight lift. I do not worry about protein. Repeat, do NOT worry about protein. Do you know what the medical term for protein deficiency is? Yeah. I don’t either. Wait, It’s called anorexia nervous. Lol!! The only way you can become protein deficiency is if you starve yourself. You hear about Andrew Taylor who only ate potatoes for one year and nothing else? He never suffered from any nutrition deficiency. Love this video. Thank you so much! I love to see people exposing the truth i discovered myself years ago.

I’ve noticed when I cut out sugar and processed carbs (not rice, real bread or potatoes), and I eat meat and veggies I feel much, much better, physically and mentally.
After passing through all the extremes I’ve started a very relaxed but aware approach. Some days high carbs, almost zero fat, some the opposite, some mixed but keep calories low. Always: fasting! My body is happy, never feel deprived of anything, lot of energy. When you eventually realize that keti, carnivore, vegan, atkins, they all have right but are all wrong, that moment is liberating. Only common denominator is eat REAL WHOLE FOOD and have frequent metabolic rest aka fasting

I have lost 18 kgs on the Keto diet I have 7kg’s to go. I’m never going back to a high carb diet. Once I reach my Ideal weight I am going to continue on my keto diet, but increase the amount of food so as to maintain my weight. An Expert recommends not to go back to our old habits or we will put the weight back on again. Maybe the occasional high carb once a month or so as a treat but never as much as the past.

This works. I cant digest enough carbs from meals eating only so i drink juice with cane sugar in between meals. (No high fructose) i have the most energy this way and have not found s better way to eat. Sugar is the biggest taste bud and all human cells are fueled by carbs. More carbs equal more life equals more fun. Id cut the oil out and eat even more carbs. Most whole foods have enough protein and fat in them. Once your glucose stores are maxed, the extra carbs are burned off through body heat. They very very rarely get turned to fat. Keto diets get rid of water and glucose store weight. It is so sad to see, that in our modern society there is for some ppl only the food/diet left, that they can use for indentification and feeling worthy. Cause that is essentially what it is on all sides..vegan, keto, carnivore. Doenst matter, all of these shouting ppl who point the finger on others, all of them, are scum of mankind. It might be just a diet choice but just the fact that they are so unaware about them secretly using a diet, to find group indentification and self value and also having an enemy, which is the other side of the diet spectrum. You have to talk about how much to eat no matter what diet plan you are using. Nobody talks about calorie intake. I find no matter what diet I use I put on weight unless I count the calories and stay below 1300 for a male. All this information seems useless because it still does not tell you how much to eat..

Unrelated to mental illness (mostly), but a whole-foods plant-based diet seems like the best diet for disease prevention and overall longevity and health in the research I have done. I originally started eating this way for ethical reasons and then later found out that doctors had been using this diet to literally reverse and prevent heart disease for years. Is this healthy or just another attempt to be certain? I also noticed from the ‘on the path’ excersie in the mind workout you put weighing yourself just off the path, isn’t that a good gauge of making sure you are gaining strength without beating too many calories? A Note on Fruit:
When trying to lose weight, most fruits should be avoided as they are high in fructose. This keeps the insulin hormone high in the body which prevents weight loss. Berries however are the exception, a small portion of berries can be eaten on a daily basis as long as this is kept under 20g total per day (Net Carbs). To work our your net carbs, simply minus the grams of fibre from the grabs of total carbohydrates to receive your net carb value.
*In nature, fruit is eaten seasonally and not all year round.
More fuel,more energy, this a great video, i messed it up once i was behind a desk for too long so i cut my carbs intake,no energy, no muscle, maybe i burn calories by talking i may be my case all i know,i star doing some calisthenics again in my garage i eating a lot,im getting big as f im cutting, loosing stubborn belly fat specifically in muy handles, my metabolism is waking up to the roof, im 5 11 always bein around 180 no more than 200 lbs but in good form,never been a bodybuilder either,all i know i will never cut carbs AGAIN,graet video, people are so confused out there,you are one the more knowledgeable and realistic guys i have seem
What an inaccurate account. These studies were showing all carbs as equal. Whole grains and whole plant based foods like fruit are far different than candy. Both are considered “carbs”.
I’m a vegan and eat high carb low fat plant based and I’m far healthier than I was eating high fat processed animal products.
Indeed, it is true. Anything you go through within the “Kοnοnοz yyd” (Google it), eating plan guide. The three weeks I have eliminated 7 pounds, 2.5 in off my waistline and also Two inches off my very own hips Am 1 jeans size smaller. Awesome!
