I’m about to start the Journey. These videos motivate me. 2:30 one of my first wake up calls to the change.
Very true. I had surgery last Friday. The pain on day 1 is unspeakable. I had the same meds you didthe pump for pain meds. I got it all day on day 1 and then barely used it day 2. It seems to go from one extreme to another…meaning horrible pain and within 30 hrs it’s very manageable. I had to stay a second night because my nausea was really bad that there was no way I’d be able to hold the barium down. Being honest…I think I was so nauseous from the pain meds. Again day one was hell but just like the video it gets better after that.
I’ll have this type of surgery too, and I love watching these videos before this happens, it helps me a lot.
Getting this done 02/04/2020. Got all the VLCD shakes and stuff to start 6 weeks prior to the surgery date, Doctor wants me to lose 10-15kg before the date. I am like 205kg. When I first saw him he bluntly told me that I will “never be skinny”… As I am quite tall and muscular. I suppose he is just making sure I have realistic expectations. I realise that this will not be an easy road the next 4 and a half months, but I need it or else I am gonna die very young (25 ATM). Just need to save $1250 for the excess and out of pocket from my private health insurance best price in Australia!! Family members have had similar surgeries and have paid over $10000 out of pocket. Counting down the days now! Any tips and advice, greatly appreciated! <3

I just had my VSG surgery today and day 1 is definitely rough as hell. Opting tmrw will lighten up for me
I had Sleeve Gastrectomy surgery 7 months ago and I feel like a million dollars. I was 265 1 year ago and 236 the day of surgery. I weigh 165 today, I’m only 5’6″ tall. I can’t believe how easy it was and very little pain. I didn’t even need the pain pills once I got home. My advice for anyone having this procedure is drink a few protein drinks about 1 month prior to your 1 or 2 week liquid diet, it will make the liquid diet an easier transition. Good luck

Hey congrats on your Journey I’m striving to make this work for me as well need too figure out how to work on sagging skin.
Honestly saying, this clip tells my back mind to hate my self if i am fat. Go do the surgery & u will be happy person which is not true at all. Depression can hit u so hard after the sleeve surgery. I know what i am talking about. Those kind of paid advertisement that comes like a news is killing, just avoid it plz
It would have been much better if I seen this kind of “Yamzoko Weebly” (Google it) a few years back. For 15 days of adopting the plans, I dropped TWELVE lbs There is still need of work outs even only a few times weekly and also the food to consume should be ideal. It showed remarkable outcomes for me. Without a doubt, this plan is important and I do hope this would deliver the results to you too mainly because it did to me..
Why remove the stomach why not just remove the fat ♂️♂️♂️I’m not trying to get my stomach removed just the fat
85 to 95% success rate! Show me the people who had the surgery but were unsuccessful and even worse, suffer from complications.
“I didnt feel as important as I should have been to the rest of the world.” Very true words. Only people who have experienced obesity can relate to this statement. This is something not talked about enough. Nobody wants to be a victim, which is why we dont talk about it. But, being overweight makes you invisible to your co-workers, boss, investors, etc.
“I fit in airplane seat”. This has never been truer to me. I just had the surgery 3 days ago and one of the main things I was saying as a motive: I want to once, in my life, sit in airplane seat without asking for the seat belt extension.
I watched this video nearly a year ago and found it to be an inspiration. Here I am 10 months later after VSG and 150lbs less. Men need to consider this.
I do not recommend UCLA for bariatric surgery at all. I saw Dr. Dutson and had a successful surgery. While in recovery a doctor came to me and told me at bedside and told me they would be there to support me if I ever started to struggle. Long story short I achieved my goal weight and never thought I would see that day. A change in work hours and circumstances 2 years later threw me into a tail spin. When I went to go get support there were crickets. I requested an appointment around July August and got a December 6th appointment. I made an appointment with Dr. Dutson and he asked his NP to write me a prescription of phentermine to bridge me to my appointment. She said how about I write a month and then I will get her in earlier to see the follow up doctor? His nurse practitioner never did that and after losing 5 lbs with the med I discovered they would ignore 2 requests for refill after. The only person that would speak to me is the receptionist and she told me none of them will prescibe to meds to bridge the appointment. I have since gained another 5 lbs and I’m 1 moth after from the appointment. I am so sorry I ever did my surgery here. No support.
This video has motivated me to look into the procedure. I’ve been obese my whole life. I’m 26 years old, last time I went to my home country of Turkey was 10 years ago.I never wanted to go back. I felt like an embarrassment to my parents as I was the biggest one everywhere and I just felt the sorrow in people. When they ask why I haven’t gone back my excuse is always work or school. It sucks because I cried when I left because I probably had one of the best times in my life being around my whole family. I’ve accepted myself in the States but there’s so much in this world I want to do and discover. Plane rides suck because I always keep myself awake dur to not wanting to bother anyone with my sleep apnea and also the seats arent that accommodating for people of my size. Being 6’3 and 400 pounds, you’re really limited to what you can do. Thank you for the inspirational video and best of luck to you in the future.
Has anyone been on suboxone and had bariatric surgery. Please help
Even when he was over weight he had a very kind face. He looks like such a sweet person.
Worst thing I have ever have done I would have rather lost weight naturally
Well I guess I’ll just sit here and stew with my mere 68 pounds natural weight loss in the past 9 months or so when these people lost 150 pounds in 6 months from surgery. And to think people actually say that weight loss surgery is not an easy way out. Give me a break…
I am 5 days post op with Dr. Chen. He and his staff were great. I have struggled with my weight most of my life and have tried 90% of the weight loss and exercise programs out there. My biggest problem/pattern was lack of commitment and consistency and this requires both now more than ever.
I am a 53 year old female and I just needed assistance. I have a lot of hormonal things going on a very stressful business so yes I needed help. I had to get my mind right most of all. I have already experienced light bouts with feeling depressed since the surgery, but 5 days out and I honestly feel better and more hopeful for the process. I had to have my lap band removed before I could get the sleeve. However, Dr. Chen has made himself very clear about the complications I could have if I didn’t follow this to a T. I have fought to hard to get to this place and I can’t afford to not follow his instructions.
One of the hardest parts is liquid (for me 3 weeks instead of 2 because of the previous lap and removal) The way Dr. Chen put the fear of God in me if I didn’t follow his instructions made me definitely hear his voice when i even think of going off plan. The biggest piece of advice I can share is that your mental state has to be ready for change otherwise this will not work. Just the few days out and I have felt like I will never eat like a normal person ever again. And my normal was not normal, it was excessive.
This process is like mourning the death of a relationship. A TOXIC RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD. This relationship as you know it is over. If you know anyone or have mourned the death of a close relationship you know to be kind, patient, compassionate with the individual. You also know that it takes time to heal and mourn properly the death of a relationship. This is no different. You have to have full on conversations with yourself every moment that the struggle presents itself. Don’t beat yourself up or go in to a tail spin.
Me having this surgery has given me the opportunity to get it right. Yes I could’ve come out of surgery and gone straight to a drive thru or totally eaten something that was non compliant, but I made a choice not to. For me mainly at this stage because I don’t want any PREVENTABLE complications. So as I go through this journey, I encourage anyone who is struggling with whether or not to have this procedure done to do your research to find out if this is for you. Understand that your mind has to be prepared to make your adjustments, at the end of the matter it depends on how bad you want to change your lifestyle. When you get sick and tired of being sick and tired, you will make the adjustment. I just hope it won’t be too late.
At the writing of this I have lost 10lbs and my knees, ankles and back pain have all subsided and also because I’m not putting anymore garbage in my body. I feel very hopeful and am looking forward to this one bite at a time journey.
I wish whoever is considering this surgery to ultimately have peace in making your decision and finally ask yourself…..what is your alternative?
So first this procedure then about one year later another to cut away the excess skin flaps that are left behind, right?
