Great, I used this recipe for spiced rum drinks and wow what a great Christmas Season drink!
Gluten isn’t unhealthy unless you have an allergy. If you have an intolerance then you just need to reduce the amount you consume. But I can tell you that gluten was still being consumed the condiments and sauces are the things that catch you.
Are walkers gluten free??? My sister coeliac so we never have walkers cos apparently they aren’t gluten free and we just get crisps everyone can eat but now I’m confused if I’ve been lied to xx
Edit: I just remembered walkers don’t have gluten in but are made in a factory with gluten and their gluten count thingy is too high for coeliacs I think…
“Stay thirsty, and stay happy with some cookies.” LOL:D:D Love Alex and B&B:D
It’s funny I often like to ride naked on horseback! WOOOOHOOOOOO!
what a timing…my father got diagnosed with celiac disease week something ago and he really hates his situation, so I’m always looking for ways to make it easier on him even though i live 13000km away currently. He is also a big bread find, so not being able to eat it is hard on him…he refused to eat one made out of gluten free flour because he found it disgusting:,)
Love your vids! Ok, so you quoted the scientists who state there is no science behind gluten free living in terms of feeling better, better health, etc. Well, there was never any science behind menstral cramps nor behind chronic fatigue syndrome, nor behind loads of other things because although science is based on observation, the science of health is invested in the food industry and in pushing what they want you to buy. The food pyramid given to the USA anyway was the same plan for fattening cattle, i.e. they just decide what they want to do with advising your life. Yet experience teaches us otherwise. The science world also often does *not listen to data that is real live experience, so your doc is not going to share it unless they are interested in it….There is also supposedly no science as to why GMO foods are worse for you, yet bugs don’t eat GMO crops. Why? They are telling us that the food is so altered that it is unrecognizable as edible. Truth, sadly. But the same scientists would agree with a basic earth science view that if you are to survive in the wild, you need to eat what bugs and birds eat as a sign of what is edible. It’s a racket.:)
I had two horrific pregnancies, from start to finish but the symptoms would immediately go away after the birth.
This second time, the KILLER heartburn/reflux, indigenous, bloating all came back with a vengeance about two years after.
For many years I struggled with these symptoms until I gave up gluten at the beginning of this year.
The first day of not consuming anything with gluten, I wasn’t having the reflux and other things mentioned above! No having to chew a specific intense gum at night until I would go to sleep just to not have burning liquids coming back up my throat!
It’s not hard to switch, you can always make alternatives to your daily routine of food preferences to make it GF.
Buns and fries at restaurants is so far the hardest thing but thankfully some places are giving GF options and they’re pretty darn good!
Been waiting on a gluten free challenge for so long!! Having a wheat allergy makes life fun when people ask and then stare blankly at you because they don’t know what that is! I don’t know why people happily give gluten up! I miss normal bread so much
Thanks for your hard work! Can’t wait to just make the sugar cookies, let alone start these delicious looking rum balls! Merry Christmas!
Everyone has some level of gluten intolerance, our bodies weren’t designed to process gluten, the same with dairy, it is just more severe in some people than others
I feel like as a society we are quick to follow suit which in turn makes us question things we’ve done for centuries, which isn’t always a bad thing.
That being said I feel like this gluten free thing is being taken to the extreme and unless people have an actual intolerance should just eat normally…I strongly believe some things to do with gluten are in the mind.
As a pastry chef myself its horrible that some places would turn people away but its also not hard to see whyif a restaurant isn’t already totally gluten free, its impossible to limit gluten particles contaminating other foods because the gluten particles are in the air.
Gluten is literally just a form of protein… unless it makes you ill, it’s fine!
These look so good! I can’t wait to send out keto Christmas cookies! Do you have a keto lemon bar recipe?
Wow, these look so delicious!! Do you have a keto Christmas pudding or cake recipe?
Love this! I never thought about alcohol being gluten free. Learned something and loved your video!
omg that wooden spoon burn lol 4:18
(edit) also yeessss BA test kitchen 4 life
This is great! My daughter is gf & now we can drink & make almond flour! Lol
You would notice the difference 6 month after you start eating gluten free I think. That is the time doctors tell you to stay gluten free to test if you are intolerant.
my brother has coeliac and he’s glad the country has gone gluten free mad as it means there is so much variety of gluten free food available in shops. when he was a child we would get his food from the pharmacy (his bread, biscuits, pizza bases would all be on prescription) but now he can shop in Morrisons like normal.
I’m sensitive to gluten, and i can have small amounts, but i will notice when i had more than i can tolerate… still, gluten free stuff is usually rank and i don’t understand how anyone would want to go through this willingly.
THAT being said, i absolutely love that you tried it.
Why’s everyone in the comment section turned into a nutritionist
I’m celiac and loved seeing what you baked/made! Want to see you do the gluten free cake vs normal cake
A VIDEO IDEA: Following the low FODmap diet for a day.
It would be amazing if you could bring awareness to people like me who have the chronic illness IBS. It’s really difficult to follow the low FODmap diet as you have to avoid and only eat a certain ammount of foods!
Because so many people CHOOSE to go gluten free for ‘health’ reasons (even though there is no evidence to show it is beneficial) where i live you can no longer get gluten free food for free on the NHS!!! The council said there were too many people claiming gluten free as a ‘fad’ diet and now people who are actually coeliac/gluten intolerant (gluten can make them quite seriously ill) can’t claim food they need, even when they really need it, and food banks can’t always stock gluten free stuff. PLEASE stop claiming gluten free food if you don’t need it, other people really do.
Stopped the video to actually make those brownies, and oh my gosh how erotic
https://saltedplains.com/gluten-free-bagels-recipe-vegan/.
I absolutely love this recipe. Some of the ingredients are expensive. I make a few batches and stick in my freezer pre sliced. It is a good recipe for me.
Wait are you telling me, that prawn cocktail crisps are gluten free if there walkers get out of here, I was miss diagnosed so was supposabily celiac and did it for 4 years I feel your pain guys, people don’t do it for a diet it’s not fun
I’m GF and vegan, and I find the hardest thing is finding convenient foods — like gas station foods, diner foods, airport snacks etc — can’t have a sandwich, can’t have a croissant, all of the easy things that most people are able to eat no problem!
People often mistake low tolerance for intolerance, sometimes symptoms are caused by you eating more than your body can handle but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have any, just less.
What can I use to sub Agave syrup? On a budget and its too expensive:/
i learnt the hard way that some chips having a coating of flour on it. suffice to say, i now always checked the labels of frozen chips before buying
I don’t understand why people wanting to try things out or choosing to not eat certain food would annoy anyone thought because the way I see it the more people who try it for dietary reasons the more they will produce it and you’ll get a wider options available
LOL! gotta love a chick with her sense of humor [@ 0:56-1:00]
Not all chocolate/crisps are suitable for coeliacs because of the may contain warnings from possible cross-contaimination issues on the production lines.
Hey I just wanted to know what the recipe was for the waffles? They looked really yummy x
I have a latex reactive food allergy. Please try eating like this! Basically, if it is a “normal food” I can’t eat it.
Those lentils hun. Not gluten free. Rice is not cleared for gluten free hun.
My mom has developed such a severe allergy that she can’t have any trace of a particle or she’ll be in horrible pain.
i crave bread, especially wraps, all the time since having to go gluten free:(
I prefer the taste of gluten-free pretzel sticks better than regular ones, I don’t but them often tho
As a coeliac, can confirm:
GF bread doesn’t quite hit the same
Pasta there is no difference, except for spaghetti where the GF version tastes like play doh oml
I’m Australian and we have a strain of wheat modified to be stunted due to out extreme wet season. Normal wheat would fall over and got mouldy when wet. I believe this modification of the “gluten” is an important factor because I have foreign friends who have become intolerant only once they have moved over here.
i think barley is fine to eat in a gluten free diet, my mom is gluten free and she doesn’t react badly to barley but i’m not sure if it would cause some people bad reaction if they were diagnosed celiac, just putting it out there lol x
From English -> French -> British. Wait, am I tri-lingual? I UNDERSTOOD YOU CLEARLY! #WorldTraveler
Can you try my diet? Gluten free, no eggs, no daily, no peanuts, no alcohol and no refined sugar! (I’m on this diet for a year to treat my eczema).
I’m both dairy free and wheat free as they both make me throw up. It is quite hard because some supermarket foods will be just wheat free or just diary free
I’m not intolerant but I love gf pizza based, something bout the taste and texture yum
So I clearly didn’t listen properly but when Grack said “I’ll be subbing where I need to” I thought she said: I’ll be sobbing when I need to, and honestly, relatable.
Looks so gooood! Thanks of the awesome cocktail idea. I always have almond milk on hand but never thought to add cinnamon or sweetener…..let alone booze!
aslo cutting out gluten if you have IBS helps too so its not just for coeliac or gluten intolerance
My uncle has my cousin on a gluten free diet because he read somewhere it helps children who have ADHD and autism! I think it’s a load of rubbish if I’m honest
Yes! Please do a blind taste test with your family to see which is better!
And when they say gluten free and everything has oats and corn flour. So I have to read everything and not trust when it says “gluten free”
You must View evry think you add but you call the name only. Its not profisional, very bad
We have been in quarantine here in Nebraska USA, I came across your vlogs. My daughter & I love them! Such a lovely family you have and your vlogs are fun! Thanks for the entertainment! Hugs From Omaha, Ne. USA
i really liked this. it helped me alot with questions i have had with gluten.
as someone who is on a crazy restrictive diet that includes gluten (for medical reasons) this whole video was a MOOD
I’ve got intolerance to gluten and lactose i find the gluten free stuff is just as bad as normal gluten for me so I end up subbing flour for ground almonds and find that works best for me. Weirdly if i eat cheese I’m fine but am violently unwell if i have cows milk.
Would love to see one vegan, one ‘traditional’ and one gluten free cake and do a blind taste test with the fam!
I was waiting for a julien solomite recepie.. i think he has a gluten free bread recepie…
I always find baking gluten free stuff myself tastes so much nicer than shop brought! I love it when you try different diets and always come up with different things that other people wouldn’t do:)
Makes me die every time you rave about soup, I bloody love soup too!
As a fellow gluten intolerant person, I find baked goods and sauces the most difficult to substitute (Chinese Thai etc is often hard because of soya sauce etc)
also don’t go gluten free unless it actually intolerant or celiac
As someone who is wheat intolerant absolutely agree with the notion that if you don’t have to, eat ALL the gluten
Appreciate it whilst you can digest it for sure!
But I do wish more people would try GF diets even if temporarily (kinda like Veganuary?) just so people realise how damn hard it can be long-term?
There are so, so many weird and wonderful traps! Soy Sauce is a massive one (so basically all asian food is off limits forever), and oats can be traps but not always….
Have you considered crushing up some freeze dried cherries or berries? Very low carb, if only used as a coating.:-) ❤
I dont have gluten because it triggers my lupus. Part of the disagreeing for those that have autoimmunes is that every single person has different trigger foods and it can change over the years. However I’m happy for those people doing gluten free because its increased the demand and its SO MUCH tastier than it was in the past.
I’m gluten, nightshade, and soy intolerant. Cross contamination doesnt seem to bother me thank goodness so as long as theres no glutenous ingredients I dont have to worry about officially gluten free.
Hi Grace, you gorgeous girl. You asked us what we want to see and to leave our comments down below. OK here goes.. longer video’s!!! We love you too. xxxxxxx
i’m severly allergic to egg dairy and sesame and watching you have all those easter treats made me so jealous! i was unable to find ANY dairy and egg free eggs or even just chocolate:((
i am coeliac and have been diagnosed for around 10 years and although going gluten free is bad for you if your not gluten intolerant or coeliac as you body actually need the fibres from it and gluten free food is full of sugar and stuff i am thankful that people do because there wouldnt be the range of food to choose from if they didnt! when i got diagnosed you couldnt even buy bread in the shops! you had to get it from the chemist!
I use to work at a grocery store that had a few in store nutritionist/dietions and we were all talking one day about a customer who was convinced that gluten free stuff was so much better for you. They said that’s not really true. Take a cookie for example: a gluten free cookie is still a cookie.
Unless you are celiac or have a gluten intolerance, I don’t see why you need to go gluten free
I’m very jealous that you can snack as much as you do and still stay skinny, meanwhile I’m the same age as you, yet I look at an apple and put on a stone:(
I’ve got celiacs disease and I don’t get why people choose to be gluten freeeee
Great video! I’m coealic and the only thing I really miss are bread products as gf bread is crap! I won’t eat gf bread unless it’s toasted! What id five for tiger bread and a Belgian bun! Would also love to see the cake VS gf cake video as my family couldn’t tell! X
i was gluten free for almost 3 months because my GP thought i could have coeliac disease and said to try gluten free and see if i feel any better, i did feel better but couldn’t poop so it caught up to me. turns out i have IBS after a colposcopy and endoscopy so my message is just to be careful and if you can poop after a few days then stop
Yess she watch BA, they are great aren’t they. Who is your favourite chef?
I understand you!! I’m also dairy intolerant and I eat a lot of vegan options, not because I’m vegan, but because it’s the only way to ensure it’s dairy free. The funny thing is I actually learned to like a lot of vegan options, and I eat a lot of vegan meals. I would like to have a «normal pizza», but there is no pizza with vegan cheese (where I live). So I have to buy a vegan pizza, with no cheese, and add protein to it (ham, tuna, whatever). Would love to find dairy free options, and animal free: «no lactose» means nothing (if it has dairy, that doesn’t work for me, it has to be free from animal dairy).
I am on the low fodmap diet due to crohn’s disease and avoid gluten amongst loads of other things. It frustrates me when people think I just fussy with my food, I’m not it makes me really ill!
Great video Grace x
Grace can you make a Cornish pasty next? beef skirt, potato, swede (rutabaga), onion, salt and pepper (I also add a oxo) diced uncooked rolled and crimp in pastry! Please Grace! it will be ansome and you’ll love it! x Nice gurt Oggie.
Found them, the look so yummy, thinking ahead about the holidays. Sending many blessings you way…
I have something called Pots, and was told to go gf. I lasted a year. It made no difference to my condition:(
idk if this was meant to be vegan too, but there was beef gelatine in the lollies!
just made this, and it was delicious. greetings from Austria:)
My brother has Crohn’s (originally just diagnosed as an intolerance to dairy, wheat and gluten) and my dad is diabetic. Growing up cooking, especially baking, was always an experiment! The ready-made stuff used to be a lot worse than it is now, so my mum learnt how to make gluten, etc free bread, cakes and so on. It’s definitely made me a better baker though and I’ve surprised coeliacs with how good gluten free baking can be!
You should do an interview with your parents about what you were like as a kid
Thank you for this video. Eating at home, as you’re discovering, is not too bad. You shop for what you can have. But eating out! I’m intolerant to wheat and dairy, along with other things less severely like oats and legumes, so eating in restaurants means I have to check the menu but usually isn’t that bad as I don’t have the cross contamination issues coeliacs have. My issue is less formal or unplanned eating. There’s one cafe we go to a lot as it’s at a nearby beach, and if we decide to eat there because we’re suddenly hungry, my choice is chips and a burger without the bun. That’s fine and all, but too much oily food makes me nauseous too, and everyone else gets wonderful healthy food. And weddings! My brother’s catering was amazing but they forgot me and my sister for the evening buffet and the last person cleaning up the kitchen kindly made us toast, because everything was bread based despite them promising there would be something for us. If there is an error like that it’s a pain, and worst case scenario is that I get severe stomach cramps and constipation, but it does eventually pass and isn’t life threatening or anything for me. I can’t imagine what it must be like being coeliac.
I love the chef! but the bleeping was really loud and unnecessary.. i would’ve definitely liked this programme more if i wasn’t so irritated
Loved this video:D As someone with celiac disease it was nice seeing someone say if you don’t have a disease/allergy then why not eat it. I see a lot of people doing it as a fad which is kinda harmful for people with celiac because restaurants and companies will come out with new “gluten free” options to appeal to those doing it for the fad but have small amounts of gluten or contamination. I’ve been sent to the ER because of those foods smh.
i found that a lot of gluten free products had alot of sugar in as well
I’m coeliac and try to be vegan and it is honestly a daily struggle
Im OBSESSED with bon appetit. I drool at all of their videos!!!OMG!!!! And the way they just whip things together and voila amazing food!
Better batter!
Betty Botter bought some butter but, she said, the butter s bitter; if I put it in my batter, it will make my batter bitter. But, a bit of better butter will make my batter better. So, she bought a bit of butter better than her bitter butter, and she put it in her batter and the batter was not bitter. So, ’twas better Betty Botter bought a bit of better butter
