So you didn’t count the sugar in your bagel, or you allowed it? I’d love a little bit better breakdown. I would love to see how my body reacts to this.
I feel you on being addicted to sugar, it really is addicting! I quit it and then once I started consuming it again i went crazy! Especially now in Isolation, my sugar addiction has gotten a lot worse! I think quitting it is the best thing to do and only eating natural sugars which are far better for the body!
I’m about to do a 3 day water fast and then go into 30 days without added sugar. I am planning on keeping fruit in my diet. I have always relied on artificial sugar, but not so much natural sugar. Should I keep natural sugar in my diet (strictly from fruit) or should I cut it all out? Thanks marisa!
Aaaahhh the sugary things! Loved your “sugary things” rant on day 6
Sugar addiction is a real thing. I am an alcoholic in recovery and when I quit, my body only wanted sugary foods because alcohol with all its sugar is addictive in of itself. Great video we need more people like this in our country but unfortunately they get silenced
I’m able to cut out proccesed sugars easily but natural sugars are really hard for me to let go
You have inspired me! I am going to start my sugar detox today
Honestly if you have a physically intensive job you can get away with eating whatever you want and not gain a pound. Plenty of jobs like that. Try dieting why working a job where to burn at least 3500 calories a day. You would literally pass out.
The tan looks FAB!
The IQS book advises to eat more initially to deal with cravings, and specifically more fat! So not on a deficit…
Is the candida the “bacteria” that he is talking about? Candida is kinda like a fungus that lives in your body is cool but it can cause a lot of damage to your system is this thing grows a lot. Candida feeds from refine carbs and loves sugar. That’s why some overweight people when they detox from sugar they have diarrhea and headaches because the overproduction of candida dies and liberates toxins in your body. Sugar is really bad for you, like poison (sorry for my English)
I like the fact that you study to the diet but it would have helped if you were on a scale.
Black makes everybody looks smaller…If the scale would have shown the weight from day 1 and then day 10 it would have been better
I thought of doing something like this but dang. Sugar is in EVERYTHING! Why
I’ve done something similar where I cut out all processed foods, and things with added sugar to them. I do use stevia If/ When I needs things to be sweet. But that’s only for certain things. And I do have fruit I am a professional ballet dancer so I find (natural ) carbs and sugars in fruit/veg are pretty important for me. However I rarely have gluteny things I love bread but I just feel better without it 90% of the time. So I only have something like pie or cake on my birthday or very special occasions/ holidays. After a while you don’t crave candy or chocolate or processed things all the time. You can enjoy them if/when you decide to treat yourself. But when I eat it I don’t want to eat it every day after that. My body prefers the natural stuff and that is what it “craves” now.:) good job Marissa.
A few years ago I drank my coffee with 2 white sugars, then I decided to drop it to one. I actually liked the taste of the bitter coffee with less milk too. Eventually, I quit the sugars in my hot drinks and I saw my weight drop! I think that’s what kickstarted my weight loss but I went out to a friends house and he made me coffee and put sugar in accidently and boom I was hooked.
I picked up the weight slowly and all my progress was literally for nothing.
Since lockdown, I’ve picked up even more weight because I’ve been baking and what do you know? SUGAR?
So, it’s been almost two weeks that I’ve had no sugar in my coffee and I’ve kept the baking to a minimal ill make a banana bread but that will last for an entire week.
Its been a rollercoaster but I want to believe I’m on a better path now.
Do you think going without sugar every other day would also be effective? My birthday is this month and I don’t fancy not having sugar that day
We sound so similar! I literally just started this today for “junk free june” but main thing is just cutting back on overall sugar intake for the day:)
So I haven’t made a conscious effort to cut sugar but I stopped drinking soda, cut out sweets just for the sake of eating sweets, and just in general trying to eat better. I don’t crave sugar like I used to, and even when I do a small piece of dark chocolate or fruit or flavored nut butter will satisfy me. I know my tastes have changed because I used to need my coffee super sweet but I tried a refrigerated dark chocolate cold brew and it wasn’t super sweet but I’m still able to drink it and be satisfied. The first few weeks are the hardest for sure! I do want to read that book about sugar you mentioned in your one video.
I add more fat to get over my hunger…later I’ll cut back after I get less carb monstery.
You’re so honest and sweet. Great effort!!
BTW Jlo is a dancer and Arod an athlete so they have an advantage to the diet.
She is very knowledgeable and expresses the information in a way that is understandable. The best part is when she says she doesn’t know certain things. This lends credibility to the things she says she knows because now we know she is not saying these things for the ego stroke but because she actually knows. If someone was saying these things to feed their ego then they would never admit they didn’t know something. Please have her on so we can learn more….
My chocolate protein smoothie bowls are a game changer. Zero sugar. A banana and the almond milk sweetens the plain cocoa.
I needed this. Think I’m gonna start this Monday. For the most part I stay away from sugar but I think it will help with alot of my issues going on. Thank you for this video
high fives on all this authentic content. I have been on this journey of quitting sugar. ITS SO HARD!!!!! Awesome job sticking with it. <3
I used to believe that, and I still do, just that it doesn’t pertain to everyone. I certainly had a lot of sugar and carbs crashes and never lost weight. Soon as I cut out sugar and went on low carb, I lost 20lbs in a month.
Seeing your shoulders motivated me to workout immediately…thanks
i think the brand nexba now makes kombucha with stevia not sugar.
(they say on the website that the sugar is fully consumed in the fermentation process so it technically makes it now sugar free)
I know that stevia addiction can also be a real thing and that having a sweet thing like that makes cravings worse but it might be an option for some and its reeeeaalllly nice:)
You cracked me up on day 4! The struggle is real. Thank you for sharing your journey! On a side note, are you liking the Rhodiola rosea still? Didn’t you use it for its fat burner support? TIA!
Please do a skin update! <3 I'm currently going through TSW and your videos have given me so much hope
If I can go small as a bacteria I’ll literally beat they ass
I quit sugar/flour/all processed foods/all animal products for a multiple months but that’s because of my eating disorder. I’m doing better now tho
This is whats wrong with current capitalism, you get rewarded for giving people what they don’t need
You look AMAZING always, sugar free or not. The important thing is that you feel great! I am also dealing with my life long love to chocolate. I’m trying to maintain a low carb lifestyle& intermittent fasting, so I let myself eat a little 85% dark chocolate at evening if I crave it. By the way, LOVE your videos! folowing them for several years now and learning so much from you. alsolove your neckless!
In many Addiction circles and in psychology, sugar is considered a drug
I gave up sugar just over a year ago. I was not much of a sweet tooth ever (besides the occasional chocolate, and even then I prefer dark chocolate.) I never found it difficult. I do however, find it even more difficult to consume sweet treats and drinks. And then I just feel sick.
I quit sugar twice, both was for a month and what hapenned was that i ended UP binge eating and yo-yo dieting and having really bad relationship with food
Cool video!! I’m probably super 2 thousand and late on this, but I love your hair omg!!!!!!! Looks great on you!!
So in conclusion, it doesn’t matter but you wouldn’t suggest eating just processed sugar (which is what most people think of when they say sugar). Solid advice, if a bit roundabout getting to the point.
Whilst sugar is undeniably bad, this podcast contains a stream of pseudoscience. Not one statement backed up with evidence.
I’ve quit sugar several times before, and it has been so good for my overall health. I try to do a month without sugar every 3 months or so, because I’ve realized that after a few months of reintroducing sugar my cravings start to go up a lot more. Maybe I need a better system, but it has worked. Also my weight it’s not affect it by it, but you can tell in my skin, and I definitely look a little bit leaner and I do feel less bloated.
Loved your honesty and seeing your whole process in this video. thank you!:)
2 videos of this woman and I’m subscribed to her channel and following all of her advice. She will change your life
Mike, what your thoughts about high fiber diet based in real foods (legumes, grains, greens) I am eating about 140g fiber per day, about 30% of my carb intake. Also a hi protein diet for hunger control… my main goal is clean bulk. I am already eating about bw in pounds x 20. I fell ok, some bloating and gas…
I love how honest you are in this video!!! Most people just say “oh I crave sugar” but don’t give examples. You make me like a normal person and realize a normal relationship with sugar.
Try my fitness pal app and that helps to tell you about the carbs and sugar. You ate carbs which is probably why you didn’t see a big difference however in my option we make lifestyle changes. If you know that you are going to eat carbs then for your diet eat in moderation but don’t take completely out. By the way I have lost 100lbs and am on the journey again after having my 3rd child (gestational diabetes). Food in moderation and exercise you will reach your goals; just might take longer
I think I’m one of those weird people who crave salt way more than sugar haha, I mean I’m aware that there’s sugar in all kinds of processed foods and I probably consume way more sugar than I think I do (I’m definitely not saying this would be easy for me) but I would rather eat a bag of chips than a box of cookies, I really don’t have a big sweet tooth ^^ I’m always looking for the best crackers and the best savoury snacks at the grocery store.. I’m really trying to cut back right now though, trying to lose a bit of quarantine belly fat (aka too much lying around and too much pasta) haha. Your willpower is always so inspiring!
I’m on my 3rd now and the withdrawal symptoms have not stopped. Migraines from hell!
Keto for three+ years. I ride a bike and carbs are king. I was over-restricting for a long time and I would go on these crazy binges. I’d eat an entire bag of apricots or dates. Or… what I thought were crazy binges. Reality, I was putting an insane amount of miles on my bike and not eating enough. Now that I’ve been on a healing journey and am building my cycling strength back up, I’m finding carbs are necessary for high intensity efforts. I tried doing some intervals (structured training sessions, 5 of them actually) and thought I was going to puke. For days. LOL, helpful when trying to maintain a deficit, however it seemed like a bad sign. I tried an RX bar and wow! What a difference. Now, those things are terrible bike food as they take way too much chewing, so I’m going with a different carb source in the future. My biggest fear is that I will crave carbs off the bike if I use them on the bike. I have had zero sugar cravings while on keto. My husband of 14 years does not eat keto. For the sake of our relationship, I’ve agreed to one non-keto meal a month. We started this in January and I haven’t had any issues with cravings. I believe this is because I don’t generally eat carbs. Because carbs (potatoes, apples, etc) are basically sugar, I don’t have my body on that constant need for it and I don’t get cravings. Although you said quitting sugar in a deficit was a bad idea, I think it was a great idea, especially for you. You’ve shown in the past you’re pretty metabolically flexible. So if you are not raising your insulin for long periods of time, you’re a better fat burner. In the keto-verse, if you are struggling with weight-loss plateaus on keto, removing sweeteners (even stevia) is recommended (cephalic insulin response).
Love this! Definitely need to work on my relationship with sugar! If you love chocolate covered honeycomb you’d love my works gelato! It’s dark chocolate covered honey comb smashed up into a gluten free vanilla bean gelato it’s heavenly if you’re ever in New Zealand definitely the thing to try
I commend you! I should follow in your footsteps and go on a sugar detox for a month, I am definitely addicted to it.
I’m not sure but I thought it was no certain fruit because of the higher sugar content? Especially banana ❓I am aware it’s natural sugar but it still spikes insulin just saying. The channel (on the cheap tip) he definitely only has berries which have low Glycaemic index(doesn’t spike sugar insulin in your body) I am thinking of trying this for I have done keto and do know that sugar is definitely addictive. That’s the hard one! just saw your channel in the news feed and very enjoyable! I too am giving myself awhile to drop (40-50lbs) but also want to gain muscle and strength so that said, I put way to much pressure on myself in the beginning! now I’m doing a summer shred and a 30 day challenge to see if I can kickstart my weight loss journey! Thank you ❤️
It have 64 carbs and 53 gram of sugar… so u had sugar and carbs
Unrelated to the topic of the video but I really like your necklace! Where is it from?
Congrats on your 30 days! I haven’t had sugar in 3 weeks by way of Carnivore Whoot Whoot! I’ve never felt so in control in my life.
Hey, when you say no sugar is that all sugar like refined and natural sugars?
U can get no added sugar kombucha, so the initial sugar needed to create the drink is used up by the school be negligible sugar.
Just tried some, it’s not bad either!
Komucha feeds off the sugar to ferment. So basically its sugar free.
I had a similar experience in May 2018 when I did the whole30. I was trying to lose weight as well as cure some gut issues (I had Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) but I didn’t know that for another 6 months.) Quitting all added sugars for that month was honestly the most challenging part of whole30 because sugar is in pretty much everything even things you wouldn’t expect. The first 2 weeks were the worst. I would dream of junk food and crave and think about foods I hardly ate like brownie sundaes. My face actually initially broke out really bad but I think it was just the detox and my body stressing out to the change. I was also really really moody. But after the 2 weeks I had lost 5 pounds ( a lot for me I’m under 5 foot), my face cleared up and skin literally glowed, my bloating and inflammation disappeared. I would eat big meals and look the same as I did in the morning. And my digestion for that month was greatly improved. I felt great. I think whole30 is a little too restrictive for me but I did enjoy how I felt while on it (after the initial 2 weeks.) enjoyed the video!
I’d really like to see a video about the next 30 days afyer quitting as when I’ve done this I’ve jist bkunced straight back into binging sugar
Sugar is the only thing I really can’t give up, it’s so frustrating I’ve tried and failed miserably several total detoxes, can’t even get to one week
No cookies donuts ice cream or chocolate bars?? AHHH SUGAR!!!! You might have removed the sugar for 30 days but you’re still sweet!!
I was going through the first stages of sugar withdrawal/detox like 3 weeks ago. But now I’m feeling a lot better about my relationship with sugar. This video is so relatable
Lol McDonald is doing ads on these videos. They are trying to neutralize the message.
I agree with what you’re saying but health wise a high sugar diet is bad for health/longevity. There’s a lot of research showing longevity in mammals on a high fat low carb diet. I think fitness performance is definitely increased with a higher carb diet but if you’re a sedentary person or elderly I believe the best route is a higher fat low carb style diet. I tend to carb cycle and on workout days and on off days I go low carbs. Works good for me.
Hey…you can do the no sugar no carb diet and replace All of your missing nutrients with Moringa Leaf Powder…Moringa the miracĺe tree is a “one stop” multivitamin that will keep the no carb headaches away and is 100% agreeable with the carb free diet and easy for the body to digest….look it up and try it…((Moringa))
She has a lot of great information but I find her scattergun delivery really off-putting.
Marissa did you eat fruit at all? I want to do this but I don’t want my efforts to be ruined if I eat some fruit thank youuu!
I just started Keto because of everyone’s recommendations, and I am loving it so far! Check out my latest video for Keto updates!
I gave up sugar from January 1st until I made an amazing carrot cake on Easter (so nearly 5 months). Since then, I am having a terrible time going back on the wagon even though I feel better without it.
The mental game is so challenging, but your video has inspired me to quit it once again. Pray for me
This was such an awesome video on SOOOOOO many levels! I loved hearing your internal dialog and justification/thought processes. Its nice knowing I am not the only one who thinks about these things! And I totally agree with your philosophy on you not allowing anything to control you you eat something because you want to and are in control not because you are eating it compulsively. That was huge when you had the cookie and said you had the sugar and the cravings came back, but your RESPONSE was better. Totally spot on! Thanks for always being upbeat and totally authentic:) I love chocolate and sugar too, and to mentally not feel deprived I have one piece of something totally delicious every day (usually a mini reeses cup! So good!) For me giving myself total permission to eat anything, but asking “will this make me feel good,” has really helped me to not feel that compulsion to overeat things. It’s a mind shift. And like you said at the end everyone has a different journey and what works for them might be different for someone else, which is so true! But the way you focus on your mental relationship with things really resonates with me. Again, you rock!
She explains sibo then mentions eating mushrooms, onion and garlic?? Bad idea!!
Let me know if you have any questions about which diet is best for you in the comments below.
I love the message at the end about your before and after thumbnail pictures!!!
I used to have a very sweet tooth always thinkng about chocolate etc really having to use all my will power not to buy any. I went sugar free for 1-2 months and 1.5 years later don’t have sugar cravings anywhere near like I used to, yes I still get them but very rarely. Also I don’t like chocolate anymore (unless it’s like 85%) and things are actually too sweet which before would never have happened. Definitely worth cutting it out for a while! (I did eat fruit but not in excess when I went ‘sugar free’ )
I get comatose whenever I eat polenta (home made, nothing processed there).
The beginning albeit not smart start to my fitness journey I only ate big salads with a protein and an apple or two a day (not healthy). Didn’t eat any desserts or anything with sugar.
I remember when I got boba tea with my friends a month into it or so and my body was shaking from the insulin spike hahahaha
Unfortunately there is sugar in all processed meats and my loves, jerky
I don’t think you have a clue in what you are doing…glad to hear you’re still happily married
that is not how you do 0 carb-0sugar diet challenge. you ate everything that you are not suppose to eat, and you were eating mostly the store bought packed food and juices. wrong information
This is perfect timing because I’m planning to go no-sugar for June! It’s going to be really hard because I have a really bad sweet tooth! I’ve been good about cutting back on soda and candy, but everything else adds up during the day!
Are you ok? <3 What you describe at 1:10 sounds like binge-eating, perhaps offset by too much restricting?
Love your videos and a long time supporter, but I found the zooming edits distracting I understand the style behind it, but I think it takes away from the knowledge you’re throwing down. Sending you much love ❤️
BEEN ON THE MEVY AND WATER FOR 10 WEEKS. MY FRIENDS EATING SWEETS NEXT TO ME. HARD TIMES RIGHT NOW!
I don’t crave sweets like that. But………….. potato chips are my jam (Cheetos, sour cream cheddar ridges etc.). And being stuck in the house with someone that also binges on potato chips is hard. I started using my fitness pal, where I document everything I eat. And I portion out my snacks to avoid binge eating. I still enjoy chips, just in moderation.:-)
Yes, there is a label for it…it’s called corrupt people! They infest our government and many businesses inclusive of bankers. When are the people of this planet going to do something about it?
They are ruining everything: our food, our soil, those of us who are laborers, etc.
Did JoLo they do a book on this. You have inspired me. More power to you!!!
You inspire me to take better care of myself! Love how you are so in touch with how you feel, how you want to feel, and how dedicated you are to your goals ❣️
Awesome video, my guy. Man, I wish these myths would stop haha. Everyone needs to be educated that the only thing that determines fluctuations in weight is simply how many calories you’re taking in. Now, of course, there are ‘healthier’ options but for body composition that’s all it comes down to.
She explains how important fiber is and then Joe decides a carnivore diet is a good idea.
If you want to sort your Gut out read a book by Dr. Michael Mosely its on Amazon and other book stores The clever Gut Diet.
This broad may know her stuff, but she’s definitely a poor communicator. And quite frankly, I’m not really that sure how bright she is. Joe asked her a simple question, which even I can answer, about why he craves sweets after a healthy meal, even though he’s full, and she didn’t answer his question. Instead, she launched into why sugar consumption doesn’t send the signal to the brain that we’ve had enough when we’re cosnuming sugars, but rather, that we need to keep eating it. Having said all of that, I’d bang her.
you have always said that restriction leads to bingeing for the majority of people, myself included, restriction really doesn’t help in the long run. this felt like you went back on what youve said, though i understand what you were trying to do. keep working to find your balance! and i hope this ended up helping you despite its contradictory nature xx
How are you allowed to just post a 10 minute video of someone else’s podcast? How has this video not been removed by now?
want to learn how we got this corn syrup pushed on us. watch king corn documentary..-> full version on youtube just ignore spanish subtitles -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywJOKF445Go
High fructose corn syrup was first invented by a Japanese scientist named Yoshiyuki Takasaki in 1966.
Thank you very much for this. I’m one week into my own sugar-free and found your video refreshingly honest, straightforward and direct. Has inspired me to keep going thank you. Please give us further updates along the road?! Thanks again
You are great but girl you wore different clothes at beginning and end, no weight information. A comparison was next to impossible for your audience. We have no idea if this worked well or not. I get not wanting to tell your weight to the planet but if you’d tried some goal jeans or something it would be a better reveal. That’s 24 minutes of my lunch break I can’t get back☺️
Very cool journey here and I wouldn’t say starting one’s cycle is TMI. It’s a pretty legit factor that comes into play when trying to cut out sugar completely great content as usual
Marisa, I have been struggling immensely on my fitness journey for some time now. I have a new and healthy mindset for the current leg of my journey, but I am finding myself having mini binges. I don’t have binge eating disorder and I am not under eating during the week, but my perfect week of healthy eating always ends in a sort of unintentional cheat day. I’m trying to avoid restricting myself and once in a while let myself have a little treat because I want to make this a lifestyle change, but it always ends with me eating way more than I’m okay with. I’m considering trying to go 2 weeks without sugar to break this viscous cycle. Would you reccomend that I try this? Thanks marisa, this was a great video!
I thought eating refined sugars causes more hunger because it leads to a spike in insulin which inhibits the workings of the satiation hormone (leptin I think), but now comes this whole other thing called ATP trapping. Man, this sh*t is very complicated.
Mike I had a dexa scan. My lean body mass is 141lbs. My total weight is 215. Should I be eating 141 grams or 215? I’ve heard conflicting info. I’m doing Keto IF diet. Anything over 150 grams seems like to much protein. Thanks
when i take some tablespoons of refined fructose i get an immense rush of energy like i am on electricity totally different than glucose, which more calms me down and makes me happy. Fructose is also way sweeter than Glucose.
Yeah, no carbs or sugar but LOTS AND LOTS OF. MSG, thats why youre ALWAYS hungry!!
24 minutes, yeeeeah I’m just just going to scan in thru, gotta keep moving… But u r so right; no sugar no carbs makes one feel absolutely great!!! Most of us are learning that carbs and sugar are poisonous to our minds and bodies.
Salt is good for you. Your body needs salt but it doesn’t work well if you’re eating lots of carbs/fruits too.
Remember the real problem is not glucose, it is fructose. Complex carbs are healthy!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CT8K6NcAigo
Irritable bowel syndrome can also contribute to bacterial displacement. And the inappropriate bacteria in an area of the gut can do their own damage, such inflammation and alter metabolism by causing variability in absorption.
I enjoyed your video and wish you well in your effort to lose weight. Most of today’s diets are upside down and deal with the effects instead of the cause of weight gain. A body is already sick when it starts gaining weight in the form of fat! Stress is one of the main triggers, plus the mistaken belief that our so-called “traditional diet” is somehiw “normal”! It’s not normal for the majority of our food to come processed, ready-made in packets with chemical preservatives, hydrogenated oils, hidden sugars of various kinds, plus artificial sweeteners/flavours.
We eat this stuff instead of real food, and are getting sick and fat but our bodies are undernourished lacking real nutrition… “Dairy” isn’t the problem it’s the processing!
Our wonderful, labour-saving, fully equipped kitchens see more plastic packages than actual food! Our great grandparents produced more nutritious, wholesome food in their coal-fuelled range cookers and butler sinks with a daily walk to the local grocery store, (and it was fresh) than we do with our luxurious mod-cons and weekly supermarket shopping by car. Food poisoning was almost unheard of, and hardly anyone had a fridge back in the 50’s! (In working class UK suburbia anyway!)
I struggled with weight gain for decades, until a random blood test showed very high blood sugar. I panicked, stopped eating sugar, refined carbs.(bread, cakes, biscuits, pasta, cereals etc.). I added a lot more green vegetables to my plate, spinach, kale, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, runner beans, avocado, nuts and berries and dropped 4 dress sizes in less than a year! My blood sugar also normalised without chemical intervention. (I wasn’t even checking my weight until my trousers started falling down!) I didn’t “exercise”… Years ago no one had the, time, energy or money to waste on unproductive pursuits. Their exercise was simple work. Cleaning, gardening, cooking, walking to the shops and school, etc.
how are there 496 dislikes on this video… seriously blows my mind. this chick is legit to listen to!
She is hard for me to listen to because she’s constantly shifting and rephrasing what she starts to say. Constantly!
She hardly every finishes her sentences from the way she starts them. Frustrating.
Try bacon and eggs for breakfast. Very satiating. The sugars in fruits will make you hungry.
Raw Ginger and diced garlic with olive oil reduce sugar glucose on a low carb diet.

You guys inspired me so much to try the Keto Lifestyle! I’m currently on Month 2 of Keto… Check out my latest video and follow my Keto journey. <3
this is amazing! so proud of you!! plus your hair looks really good
She didn’t answer joes first question which was why he craves sugar after a healthy meal of chicken and veggies. She made some point that seems pretty irrelevant to his question. I believe the answer to his question is simply that your body wants sugar. Joe probably doesn’t eat much fruit throughout the day and that’s why he’s craving cookies and ice cream. Your body works the other way too, you will crave pizza and burgers if you haven’t eaten enough fats from seeds and nuts or other healthy sources. I figured this out by experimenting with my own cravings. It’s hilarious because your body will let you know what it needs but these academics are too caught up in regurgitating papers to actually think for themselves.
I’m going to try this in June I think:) and try to cut down over this last week of May. I don’t know whether it’s the added sugar or wheat that is giving me inflammation and skin issues and I always put off trying this because all the yummy foods but I think it is so worth it and thank you for inadvertently giving me a push:)
Your channel has been the main contributing factor of my journey. Officially lost over 32 lbs. I’ve been in a slump but as always you’ve motivated me to get back in. ❤❤❤
I don’t follow your 2-2.5 grams of carbs per pound of body weight…did you mean per kg?
I weigh 185 pounds. That would mean 185 grams of protein, 370 grams of carbs. That’s 2220 calories before even adding in fat. Using.3 grams of fat per pound, which is pretty low, that puts me at 2,720 calories.
Your recommendation would be perfect for a lean bulk, but impossible to use on a cut.
Chickpea pasta! Oh my!! you guys have the best choices in food! I am going to try and find it here in Canada but wish me luck!
She gives me a woodie when she does these videos. Don’t know what it is. Maybe I need some help.
And look what had happened to our waistline in the past 50 years?
I love that u are a Christian now! I love the spiritual aspect of the videos!
It’s called leptin. It’s sends a signal to your brain to stop eating.
Oh I so need to do this! After every dinner I have to have something sweet! Every single time!!! Then it started to happen after lunch time too. It is like a compulsion and I so badly wanna kick this habit. Right that’s it my 30 days starts tomorrow! Thank you I needed this video ❤ xx
Coach, 3 months ago, after a long period of cutting, i did i serious 3 days serious binge episodes. About 45.000kcal. And the fat really tranform the way my face and torso look. After that, i get support to a team: endocrinologist, psy, theraphy… But that new me, skinny and with big face and torso drive me crazy. Now, with help with drugs to control de urges to binge, to loose this last few stubborn fat is the same way? Just “trust the process”? Thanks!!!

Fiber is not important at all unless you’re eating tons of processed carbs.
do you know what carbs are??? i don’t think you do. YOU FAIL TERRIBLY!!!
Her bubys looks very appealing with her outfit! Catches the eyes right away. Anyway too much information in this era. Way too much..
Hello, I don’t think you realize how many carbs you having. If I can suggest, check out Dr Ken Berry and Dr Eric Berg. Also, check out Keep it keto. Angel and her brother are pros on keto. Good luck.
you cannot digest fructose, it has to be processed through the liver, that takes more energy than the energy you ingested, thus you are always hungry, backed up and fat
You should try a light workout with this diet. Sounds like all you did, which is what most ppl do is, “Watch what you Ate” and hopefully proportioned it. But you should def include a bike routine or something for calories. Remember all foods have calories and that causes weight gain. You need to burn them off, in order to see a significant difference ftom day 1. Good luck to you.
///stop eating sugar motherfoookers!!!!!!! Problem, eat a lot of sugar and your brain Will stop working and prevent you to understand that its foookin killing you. Short version: stay stupid, eat sugar.

Great info. A reminder of the valuable lessons from Thinner, Leaner Stronger. Anyone who wants to learn more, grab the book where Mike goes into a detailed but laymans terms explanation of all this that makes it approachable and useful for anyone.
Potatoes? King
Of carbs. I enjoyed your video though, I love your personality!:)
I dont understand how Joe is so sensitive to food. How can you eat a burger or pasta or something and legit feel bad. To me it just sounds like there is something wrong with you. Shouldnt be so weak
My health habits r a mess…I’m gonna contact u for coaching soon
Sugar is just bad. When u see salt u halt, sweet retreat and fats you already know it speaks for itself.
When I was doing the keto diet and intermittent fasting, there would be a cheat day every now and then, maybe once a week. What I found was that anyday that I ate carbs, I got intense hunger pains the next day.
This woman is peddling all of the mainstream nutritional science that is completely divorced from reality and super unhealthy
Your video wasnt helpful to me. You didnt say what you weighted before nor after. What were your measurements? Did you reach your goal? What did you accomplish? Idk.
However, you seem really nice and charming, but this didn’t help me at all. What’s the end game?
but mike you didn’t talk about how sugar affects your health. only the elevated triglycerides point
You did well with what you knew at the time. A smart 10 days really, for not eating everything in sight like a normal day for me, it seems!! I need to take your 10 days on!! I will!!
Everytime I go off sugar, HFCS I feel absolutely rotten then so good, sugar in all forms should be banned!!!!!!
Fiber cannot be converted into glucose by the body
Protein,sugar,and carbs can
Fiber slows this process
Omg this is one of your most relatable videos yet & practices for overall willpower! Sometimes your self discipline & will power (which is awesome) make it seem like you are some super human but this one I felt more connected to you!
Weirdo with metal thru meatstick vacuum. Was the goobled load salty or sweet?
I feel like crap when I don’t have carbs…very lethargic & weak
You ate alot of carbs!
You wanna lose weight then go on a high protein and fibre only diet and work out everyday. I was 18 stone 2 years ago and am now 12 stone with lean muscle.
Just eating food won’t get you losing weight and fit and healthy you have to eat lean natural foods, cut out processed foods and bread and all cakes, snacks, chocolate and alcohol AND start fitness.
NO WONDER YOU DIDN’T GET ANYWHERE WITH THIS, YOU DID IT TOTALLY WRONG.
I have read that if your body craves sugar, your body oftentimes is craving fruit, in addition to this discussion too.
https://chriskresser.com/do-gut-microbes-control-your-food-cravings/
I have had major issues with sugar and caused me to binge with it in the pastso I too went sugar free and been sugar free for 7 years now, except for super occasional Thai food:)I just totally crave sugar when I eat it. Yep, entire boxes of cookies and 1/2 gallons of ice-cream, several donuts etcused to be a daily issue/binge for me. I don’t crave it now that I don’t eat it anymoreit’s just how I need to live for myself. It’s made a big difference for me.
You swallowed a TON OF CARBS in those 10 days! Please change the title as it is false…unless you mean to use clickbait.
Where is your white quilted sports bra from? It’s so cute!!!
I lost 4 inches in the waist when I gave up eating anything with high fructose corn syrup in it.
Love your determination! Even though it appears a lot of these foods have a lot of hidden sugar and carbs in them, it was awesome that you tried something new! You should try keto. There is a keto app called carb manager and you can scan the bar codes of foods that are keto friendly or not! It’s super surprising to see how misleading some food products are!
One of my favorite keto deserts:
1 packet sugar free chocolate jello pudding mix
2 cups heavy whipping cream
Blend those two together with any electric mixer until it becomes like a mouse. ITS DELICIOUS!
Pinterest obviously has a ton of fun and exciting recipes! It’s amazing and so fun learning about food and different ways to be creative in a healthier way!!
You got this girl!!!!
I’ve been keto for about 8 years:) I dont do sugar! I’m sober:)
Listening to Joe interview intelligent people just shows the disparity between very intelligent people and him. He sounds like an inarticulate middle school kid
Professor Mark Haub lost weight on a diet consisting of twinkies and thick shakes.
Did he publish his findings? If so the did the peer reviewer say “Hey Mark, read your stuff do a proper study with proper controls..”
Rogan: after I eat a big meal I still crave sugar
Dr. Patrick: science
Me: it’s cause he’s high!
HFS came in the 80s purely outta cost savings…recall “new coke”? never went back to original recipe with cane sugar, it tastes different, they knew it
Why does it take her 10 minutes to get through a single sentence??? She is so annoying I can’t listen to her. Just have her write down her knowledge on a single paper and I’ll read it. She can’t communicate verbally. She’s smart but has horrible communication habits.
I think you’re having way too much processed foods. Try fresh from farm to table.
I should add, I can eat carbs without cravings (like corn tortillas) just not baked goods with actual sugar in themthose completely set off my cravings. So my carbs are from things like organic corn tortillas, potatoes and a little bit of fruit. I found that dried fruit I need to avoid tooit doesn’t seem to set off my cravings as much BUT I did discover it sets of a panic/anxiety attack several hours after (usually in the middle of the night when I’ve eaten some raisins or dried cranberries before bed).
It takes some time to get rid of sugar cravings, but once you get there you will look at chocolate cake and feel no craving. Moreover, if you reach that point and relapse sugar will taste waayyyy to sweet.
Hi Mini, the title of your video says no sugar no carbs, but a lot of the foods you are eating are high carbs. What help me was getting a book that told me carbs/sugar count in food. Be blessed on your journey.
I’ve stayed away from high fructose corn syrup for years. It causes diabetes in lab rats… and humans of course.
Sugar is the actual devil!!!! It is basically crack for me and I choose to avoid it.
take a drink of water every time you hear “sugar” hahaha. love your videos!! xx
You look great and I can see the difference. Very good video.
I quitted sugar for two days and I feel like Im a drug addict and I need my dose
You actually had carbs and lots sugar hun. Its okay atleast you lost weight.
I love chocolate and cake. And cookies. And I eat it every day but in moderation. Of course there are days where i eat more than usually but I think it is good way for me:)
She rocks!!! Can somebody please ask Dr why we crave fat eg; Butter Olive oil meat fat
The gut biome break down is true! I went keto for 6 months and did not take any supplements or get much fiber at all. I had the worst unexplained pain that radiated out from a short line across my naval, and when my doc gave a feel just to make sure there wasn’t any blockage, she said my gut felt tender and recommended I get more fiber and probiotics. After 2-3 weeks, and eating a little more fiber from carb sources, I’m feeling better.
You claim that was a low carb diet??! You ate more carbs than an average persons intake. You also didn’t show your weight, and you looked the same afterwards.. This video is false advertisement!!! I want my damn 24 minutes of life back!!
lol I’m eating a whoopie pie while I watch this… the ultimate irony
Every January for the last 3 years I’ve taken a refined sugar free month. It definitely helps me re-set my relationship with sugar after all the holiday treats. Its amazing how sweet fruit tastes at the end! I still make some healthier treats with unrefined sugars so that I don’t feel too restricted.
fruit is carbs you can do berries but fruit chick peas alot of that is high carb foods. Look up keto and you will find that is more what you need to to be doing if you want to do low carb. But just eating clean and being calorie deficit is the only way to lose fat. If yu do low carb it is amazing it can really help. No such thing as a detox sorry to tell you. But how ever you lose it best of luck.
BUT BUT….cookies…No I agree with you buddy I am on day 10 of my sugar free diet. I Am Dying!
Hello! I am curious, do you think cutting out sugar put you in a bigger deficit or did you eat something else to compensate for it?
Awe I’m so happy you’re back on YouTube! Missed your vlogs with helpful money saving tips. How is married life?:)
chickpeas also have lots of carbs, as do apples and citrus fruit. Nice that you at least tried.
Although, my intent was to eat like JLO and Arod, it didn’t turn out that way. I ate fruit, which turns out is a no no on the type of no sugar diet they were doing. But regardless, the approach I took was very reasonable and something so many of us could incorporate into our eating habits. Again, thanks for watching.
Um….why is she taking about the topic to a national audience and skipping over whole parts of the digestive process that might be critical to people? Is she talking to e everyone or speaking to only a certain group?
I like the idea of a smoothie “bowl” though. Thanks for that. Now it doesn’t seem so thick. Good Idea.
You saying you ate a whole box of cookies makes me feel better, I just ate two chocolate sprinkle donuts a few days ago and felt gross. I’m due for a change in diet
I’m going to honestly try to quit it too! It’s better for me to go cold turkey than to trying to reduce the intake. With quarantine, I’ve been justifying eating all the sweets in my house. It’s not like I needed it or wanted it, it became a HABIT. I’m going to replace this habit with a piece of fruit and tea! Summer time is the time for all the berries and watermelon!
The worms control the second brain (gut) if you feed it with fructose
7:07 that yeast thrive on sugar + lack of fiber causing bacteria to die (yeast take over) is probably also a cause for fungal acne /malessezia and maybe dandruff
You did so well, and I think you look great in your after view. I haven’t ever gone completely without sugar ever, but you inspire me to try.
Good job girl. I love NC. We vacation at Kure every year. Keep it up
I found it so interesting that if you start your day with something sweeter like the chocolate frosty bowl you don’t crave sugar the rest of the day. I notice I’m the exact opposite. If I start my day with something sweet and chocolatey that’s all I can think about the rest of my day
I feel it’s dangerous to say that sugars in vegetables and in candy are the same because they’ll both be turned into glucose. It’s less about the end goal and more about where it happens. Fructose (high fructose corn syrup. I.e. what you find in candy) can not be used directly by any part of our body and has to be broken down completely in the liver. This is what causes the damage to our body in mass consumption. This process creates fatty deposits in the liver and leads to diseases caused by fatty livers such as: diabetes, obesity, insulin resistance, high blood pressure, and high triglyceride levels.
I recognize that you suggest eating unprocessed foods for 80% of your diet, and thus avoid consuming the amount of processed sugars needed to cause effects like this. But to say “the sugar in broccoli and the sugar in a candy bar are the same” is an absolutely incorrect statement, and one I’m worried people will take away from this video more than the importance of practicing a healthy balanced diet.
Literally polishing off a pack of Oreos as I watch this. ♀️ haha really wanting to quit for a while. Thanks for the extra motivation I needed!
I’m going to try to lose 80 lbs. By November too. I weigh 288 lbs. See you in November.
Great personality. I wish you success on your Keto journey. Search YouTube on meal planning. It gives you a wide variety of recipes as well as set you up for the week.
‘space’ travel is not possible. the surface of the earth is a plane covered by an impentrable dome. below the surface the earth extends to untold depths. above the dome is water. the sun, moon, and stars are very small and actually inside the dome. star wars is satanic. other than that, decent video
Hi Mike. I was wondering if I cut leaving my calories intake to 1700 calories and then I decide to take Phoenix (somewhere I saw that it helps you burn 200 calories daily) isn’t going to be harmful since it will leave me with my bmr calorie level of 1500? I’m confused about this
Watched your video this morning, you inspired me to do the same for 30 days. I come home from work and see that my family came home with chocolate cakes, chips, chocolate, cookies, all types of sweets… this is going to be hard.
I went keto for 3 months in 2019, no sugar no carbs. Never felt better! But it wasn’t sustainable for me, so I started to eat “normal” again, just without any sugar. Now 6 months later I rarely have any sugar cravings, not comparable to my habits before keto! I used to inhale whole packages of cookies and bags of candy several days a week, severe addiction.
The only problem still left: when I buy a bag of candy (like 200g) I usually can’t help but eat it in one sitting, I have binge eating tendencies with candy. So I don’t start buying it.
Hi, could you please add a link with the researches mentioned in the video? Thank you!
Btw, great videos with helpful content. You’re doing a great job 😉
Interesting esp. since you just didn’t see obese people before 1970.
Can someone please give me the complete title of this video?
You lasted longer than me then! i went 5 days without chocolate and then, got given some for my birthday. It was all over when it was in my house. I havent started again yet. I plan to cut the sugars for a month and, then go back to my method of some chocolate in the morning which, works well.
I was wondering how I could go through 2 dozen oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and a tub of plain Greek yogurt but still lose weight. Guess that’s why lol
I’m going to start this 10 day challenge tomorrow on Mother’s Day wish me luck. I love how up beat you was throughout the 10 days that was very inspiring. Thanks for the video.
But post run how do I get the electrolytes? Main things are Gatorade or chocolate milk which both have sugar
I feel like I need to do this! I’ve been considering it for months. Just need to commit and do it.
Calories in calories out is a dead theory… do you not know how insulin works?
I’m on day 8 and I actually feel ok. Knock on wood or those withdrawal symptoms will hit me out of nowhere.
1st! Thanks again Mike! U a legend with too little subscribers, you’re litetally the only person online i know that backs their arguments with well carefully examined studies
