Of course they going to come up with low carb diets cause mortality, especially after keto is on a major rise. I have been on keto for two weeks and I feel like a teenager and I’m 50 years old, I have dropped nearly 1 stone just eating natural fats, butter, fatty steak, eggs, and most important very low carb no sugar.
Liked the sauna bit… now that I can go along with (along with the weights etc)
when i think of it,low carb diet definetely helps to manage type 2 diabetes, coronary heart diseaae and obesity, but a low carb diet is not biological sustainable, not because of the carbs intake but certain vitamins and minerals, antioxidants and polyphenols and trace minerals are only found in plant based foods and completely absent in animal foods or fat, thank you.
what do you think about flexitarian diet. At first, I want to start this diet because I have allergic to mainly dairy product, and sometimes I got rashes or fever too after eating meats/chickens especially parts that have a lot of fat and skins. But then I also learn that there are a lot of substance been injected or given to the livestocks that are probably not healthy for us. So, that makes me more determined to eat less meat. Is it okay if we human eat meat once a week? Also, since my allergic reaction seemed to accelerate or become worse when I consumed it together with sweet or oily stuff, so I’m thinking to reduce processed food. Which means, my food intake would be mostly fresh vegetables and fruit in the future. and herbs. Although I have concern too about veg and fruit, such as the pesticide and parasite but it think it willl overweight the negative effects that I will get from the processed food?
11:12 So let me see if I understandTelling people to restrict carbs and avoid processed foods “may promote eating disorders”, but telling them to track every calorie eaten and balance it against exercise somehow won’t? rolls eyes
Denial; it’s not just a river in Egypt any more.
Most of those damn vegans are fatter than we are because they’re eating all the donuts and cakes and sweets.
They wanna tax meat, we’ll put a tax on sugar and wheat. A bloody lot of tax. It uses an awful of land that should be feeding animals green grass.
I can’t recall ever having someone tell me that they have a bad diet. Even when obese and diabetic with heart disease they will tell you about how good their diet is. Dietary surveys are very doubtful in my opinion.
Living on vegetables alone is NOT sustainable. People need certain types of meat that contain B vitamins that are not found in vegetables.
When I counted calories I lost weight…not keto. When I was in keto I also lost weight.
So basically… Breakfast = water, Lunch = water, Dinner = water, All mid meal snacks = water… Problem of high carbs solved
What these speakers should do is stop sounding like an academy awards acceptance speech. No autobiography. Get right to the data, in measured statements.
Isn’t it better to steam vegetable rather than boling them? I thought loads of nutrients could be lost in the boiling water.
Who is here to see the food to avoid and reduce the size
Finally rise spaghetti negative effects
A fantastic talk. An eye opening perspective on how misuse of epidemiological data is used to promote biased opinions by the media.
WTH did this guy just say? I’m not sure who’s paying this guy but it sounds like a bunch of hogwash trying to gear people into well I’m just not sure. What a waste of time
Lovely Video clip! Forgive me for chiming in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you tried Chireetler Fantastic Physique Rule (do a google search)? It is a great one off guide for learning how to get amazing muscle definition without the normal expense. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my buddy at very last got amazing results with it.
He is not exaggerating about the movement to make it illegal to raise our own food ESPECIALLY animal-source food.
The Farm to Consumer Legal Defense Fund ‘Protects and defends the Rights of independent farmers and artisan food producers and their customers’. If you want to have the right to raise or buy whatever foods you choose from whomever you wish consider a donation, or joining:
https://www.farmtoconsumer.org/?s=raid
In addition to regulations that may be appropriate for the industrial production and manufacture of foods which are needlessly burdensome on small farmers, and sjkyrocketing costs for land, property taxes (farmland and other rural land uses very little in the way of public services, but the taxes on these lands pay for services to surban and urban areas. Is this fair?), and the cost of equipment that runs about 4,000% to 10,000% higher than in the 1970s… independent farms are increasingly being harassed by gov’t officials and police. It is becoming common for the smaller farms, usually run by families who are usually also working off the farm to support the farm. Unlike large corporate factory farms and CAFOs, when police, even SWAT teams, show up on farms which are usually also the homes of farming families they do not have teams of lawyers to defend them.
One example that is becoming typical: https://www.sott.net/article/294320-Police-raid-small-New-York-family-farm-charge-family-seize-animals-because-they-were-free-range
He eventually won his case, and his animals were returned. But not before Rockwood and his family went through hell, plus a lot of expense for lawyers, and lost income. Thankfully he had help. Word is a nearby hobby farm with horses kept calling and insisting that police ‘do something’ because the pasture-based eco-farming practices did not look like a flipping petting zoo fake farm.
Not just farm that produce food for sale, but also families with a little land who want to raise some of their own food are being targeted. Though not as common, even people simply growing vegetables and/or fruit have been subjected to baseless police raids.
Animals are commonly seized without due process which is unconstitutional. Police often give the farmers or homesteaders or people who just keep a few animals to mow the fields or just for the love of it the ‘choice’ to either sign over all rights to their animals or they are threatened with criminal charges. Yes, this fits the legal definition of extortion.
Though this speaker mostly refers to unprocessed milk and milk products, the issue is not limited to that animal-source food alone but extends to everyone who owns animals, and especially those raising animals for food:

I just don’t get why what to eat is such a huge deal… why
Well, people eating the mediterranean diet live longer than inuit people. I’m thinking it would be a better way to live AS LONG AS you can keep a healthy weight! I’m obese, and I just lost 21 lbs in ten days on a water fast. I’m now eating OMAD + keto, with lowish calorie content (perhaps 1200 or so). I’ll do that for a week or so, then fast for a week (ten days was a bit much for me). Keto is POSITIVELY the ideal weight loss pathway (which includes fasting). But, I’m not sure that keto is actually the most healthy diet long-term. Of course, in many ways it seems like one of the best ways to stay slim and that’s an incredibly important factor in deciding on a permanent diet. Personally, I think the mediterranean diet plus some regular fasting might be the best health promoting scenario. I’d be interested in hearing the opinions of others.
So let me get this straight, not eating something that is not essential for a human being to live, will cause you to die earlier.
No bias in those studies, clearly, right?
Yes, would like to see you guys do a video on beans! I’m not sure what to think of them, I read contrasting insights as to whether or not they are good to have in your diet.
Yes the oats really throw my calculations off mark at the start of day.
Cow meat has just been banned in the oldest University in Portugal (University of Coimbra, established in 1290) under the pretext of sustainability and carbon emissions. The meat will be replaced by “other nutrients” as they called it. Please help us.
Maybe the vegans think they have the political power and will to force their view, but wait until Burger King, McDonalds, Arbys, Wendys, Long John Silvers, KFC, Popeyes, Chick-fil-lay, Churches Chicken, Papa Johns, Papa Murphys, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Taco John, Runza, King Kong, Bob’s Big Boy, Hardees, Subway, Quisnos, Chipotles, Costco, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Aldis, Piggly Wiggly, and others like them get a hold of them. Knowing Piggly Wiggly people, they will probably bring their guns to that knife fight.
8:35pm I watched this while drinking a cup of hot chocolate made with unsweetened almond milk, a tbsp of butter, tsp dark cocoa, and a squirt of liquid stevia. Thought you would know that. I only do this within 2 hrs of my OMAD because I didn’t want to interfere with my 20-23 hr fast. I’m fine, 70 years old and finally losing my body fat. Thank you very much.
It is also the way poker machines work. to get you addicted.
Can anyone share a link with me where he actually goes through the entire presentation instead of this rushed presentation?
Main stream media is business propaganda for the corporation’s.
That list is awful,i had gained 8 pds and lost it eating everything i wanted but, i measure everything,, thats key!
This is all about the history of why they were wrong about obesity, the idiot’s etc! I want latest research not a sarcastic report on the failures of the past sorry speaker!
Excellent talk. I’m going to try and find more talks by this Wolf guy.
Sweet, i allready avoided all of thease seems like i have to officially put on my big boy keto pants.. -127lbs in 9 months too..:D
This is the best site i have encountred, I like your contents very much especially article on calorie in and calorie out, calorie is not calorie. Thanks.
Today I happened to read that Lancet article online, and just minutes later YouTube suggested this video to me. Big Brother is truly watching everything we do online. In this instance I didn’t mind, even if it is disturbing, because I liked the content very much.
Thank you for an interesting talk!
I’m not big on eating a lot of meat and fish, I just go for small amounts with high quality, as in organic or wild caught. The main thing is to cut all processed food, and eat a lot of different greens and they sure are tastier with a bit of fat and salt:-)
Intermittent fasting is a good idea as well, that is rarey mentioned if a study is done.
Lovely Video clip! Excuse me for butting in, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you heard about Dinanlinson Elegant Figure Approach (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a smashing one of a kind guide for uncovering the secrets behind a highly effective low carb diet without the hard work. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my best friend Jordan got astronomical success with it.
So basically what you’re saying is the government is developing a way to control population by controlled poisoning
If you lot are telling me that factory farming is the way then you are wrong. Do your research. If you think grass fed is the you are wrong. We don’t have the land to do it and will not in the future as populations grow.
Fact. I agree sugar or carbs isn’t the way, neither is animal meat / protein neither. Yes, Arnold ate herds of cows and now drinks almond milk and small amounts of meat. Vegans, if they don’t plan what they eat correctly get ill, as do meat eaters. Yes, meat eaters get ill too. I get to see enough of them in the back of my ambulance efore going to hospital. Few are veggie or vegan I’m afraid. Do the science on that one. 8 medications are the norm for most travellers. May be more than 8 for some. Veggies and vegans are lighter to carry down stairs as well. Answer that one. I’ve never in 25 years taken a veggie or vegan to a cancer centre either. Answers please. I’m interested. Really……
Just starting the Cantin Keto diet recommended by my doctor to help solve a cancer problem. Your info was very helpful in what I need to avoid. Unfortunately because I have been eating healthy for over a year, I have lost 37 lbs and am now (very healthy) but under weight. Is there any hope to gain weigh on a Keto Diet? Maybe Eat more of the good foods I guess?
Will lots of meat shorten your life? Easy answer, yes. That is what mice studies show. Just look at longevity studies by University of Sydney Charles Perkins Center.
You got me on the gluten-free products but it explains why I swelled up last night after having a gluten-free piece of bread
To all of you with a low-carb phobia, you will save yourselves a lot of time and neurosis by also watching all 100 or so presentations of Dr Bernstein’s Diabetes University series here on YouTube and reading, in full, his book Dr Bernstein’s Diabetes Solution. And, Robb Wolf, if you’re as young as you look, Bernstein’s been on a less than 30g-carb-a-day since before you were even conceived. And you ask “Who is there, out there, who’s been on a low carb diet for that long?”?
Hi, I’ve watched several of your videos now and really enjoy the content and relaxed easy to digest manner of them, I am enjoying the Keto low carb diet and have been very pleased with the results. I would love your take on a video that appeared on my screen directly above yours, it’s by nutritionalfacts.org and appears to totally discredit the low carb diet completely.
Yours
Dave.
people in the comments are SOOO DRAMATIC! if this is all you eat, maybe that’s why you are thinking about a low carb diet!
As so many people have done before Mr. Wolf (Dr. David Diamond, Gary Taubes, Nina Teicholz, etc.), this presentation illustrates how abysmal nutritional research methodology is and how steeped it is in ideological bias. Along with all the other things that our kids learn in science class, teachers in high school should be required to teach about how nutritional research is done, so as to present students with a good example of what is NOT good science. Such an important lesson would be so useful to students in the future, not only so as to prevent them from being duped by the latest contradictory finding that comes out of the nutrition world, but it would be useful in other areas, such as politics, where they could be manipulated by statistical chicanery.
That ridiculous epidemiological study to suggest that eating low carbs leads to early death is probably including 95% of cohorts that have been eating high carb all their prior life and are essentially “insulin damaged lab rats”. The data is so bogus that those actually dying from attribution to “low carb” could in fact be dying from NOT EATING ANYTHING WHATSOEVER crb or fats or protein starvation (due to being sick from carb poisoning all their lives)Sick of the fake science.
Nothing wrong with carbs and an insulin spike, as long as it’s LOW FREQUENCY. Like, once every 24h max. Fast for the other 23 hours or eat a small keto meal. Also, carbs should not be processed and man made.
Meat bad keto good?.. sounds to me that the vegan keto is optimal
It would be interesting to narrow down the role of exercise in some of this. I would say even the middle ground of fat and carbs could probably do OK if they exercised more (at least better). That’s probably why humans did eat more carbs in the past with fewer problems. One of the best indicators of longevity is VO2max. A study of 5000, found the highest five percent range of VO2max lived about five years longer than those in the bottom five percent. You can’t tell me those top 5% were all low carb eaters, yet they still got an extra five years over the less fit people. The issue is multifaceted, that’s for sure.
The biggest push we are seeing is targeting MEAT EATERS with lab-grown and false multi-ingredient substances that emulate meat (many vegans wouldn’t touch this stuff). To achieve this goal real meat needs to be outlawed and large organisations who are promoting veganism AND those that see a new way to make a lot of money are making huge inroads here. The millionaire investors will then be able to sell this cheap substance to the populace and make a huge profit. Nutrition comes nowhere on their radar. Profit is everything. A future where only the rich can access real meat (and strength, health and longevity) and everyone else is fed artificial substances, remaining weak and generally malnourished but still functional.
I think i just shoot my self in the eat and stop eating everything has carbs everything has sugarshiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
Go to Woo&Pep diet page if you want to learn much more about diet.
1:20 ‘Do you remember last year when there was a.. buzz going around about low-carb diets were going to shorten your life? Everybody and their cat jumped in on this thing…” Excuse me, cats have NEVER promoted the consumption of carbs. We advocate meat as the premier food, Preferably freshly caught and raw. Of course, we advocate the ‘nose to tail’ approach to dining, too.
On the fairly rare occasion when we cats ingest plant matter, we are usually trying to self medicate. Which is why members of our staff sometimes find a ball of grass hacked up on the floor. It can help settle an upset tummy, or bring up a hairball, etc. But plants are not really food, not for us.
Best of all is food you can play with first. Fun AND food. A feline happy meal! Otherwise, it is nice to be served pieces of those giant birds. Or those huge beasts that the humans call ‘beef’. Prrrrrrrr >^.^<
I find it just the most wonderful thing to be able to finally address a doctor by saying, with the utmost sincerity, FUCK OFF.
is retarded to even belive it after all all this shit carbs are not exentials and we live millions of years with out it and not only that is man made foods is garbage promoted by fake studied vegans bias
What’s your favourite item from this list? Is there a substitute that you have for white rice that we mat have missed? If you enjoyed this video, please give it a like and share it with your friends!
Nonsense presentation..stop playing with people’s lives with false information…you obviously are a paid nobody to promote an agenda of those who have financially paid you to spew this garbage….THE PUBLIC MUST TAKE IT UPON THEMSELVES TO READ ALL SCIENTIFIC DATA THAT IS PROPERLY CONDUCTED AND IS NOT BASED ON SUPERFICIAL DATA OR PROPAGANDA…. YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON KNOWING PROPER KNOWLEDGE AND SHOULD NOT BE AN EXPERIMENT OF SOME IDIOTS HOLDING SEMINARS….
How much better are kidney beans compared to pinto beans? Thanks for another great video packed with info.
You bet the marketing machine knows shitloads more than almost everyone, that is why they are so good at what they do.
In Australia the two big chain supermarkets spend billions on marketing, they have experts from all backgrounds.
The Big Food Corps are no different.
I love how so many skip this part and go straight to Big Pharma as the devil, yet don’t educate themselves how Big Food work…
I have a question my doctor just diagnosed me with a fatty liver and told me to eat a low fat high fiber diet how do i get started on that
Um, hello? Global warming? Please write a book on that as in depth as you wrote good calories, bad calories. I’ve read it twice! Global cooling, the population bomb (soylent green), peak oil: these would be great places to start on the “history” of social fear-mongering.
Zing! During puberty, boys gain muscle and lose fat “or at least they used to.”
These programs are boring and always attacking the science. Now granted, a lot of the science is BS but these speeches are the same thing over and over. I am done with this channel.
I’ll give up potatoes, bread, pasta and bananas. I’ll be damned if I’m giving up Sriracha! (I also cut WAY back on beer)
Vegans can eat as they wish BUT THEY CAN NOT IMPOSE THEIR BELIEFS ON OTHERS!
What a bunch of cabbage head nutters!
With the new vegan film, “Game Changers,” being promoted by the well financed, morally corrupt Hollywood establishment it appears the culture war is doomed to perpetuate the diet war. The absurdity of the vegan position is revealed when the narrative is flipped with rise of the carnivore diet, it is very unlikely that those in that peer circle would be aghast if a salad was introduced during a meal. However, the reverse would lead to immediate excommunication.
Never mind, it the rice!
It’s good for you and you will lose weight. White or brown.
Why are speakers always rushed with such little time? They have such awesome info. I’d rather sit through 3 hours listening to this guy and gain a lot more knowledge
That study seems to lack a backbone in my view because there are almost NO CARBS in meat, so what were they trying to prove? Basic BS from high paid BS’ers! If they did real studies on real people, I’ll bet their findings would knock their socks off…but I doubt they’d ever admit they were wrong!!!
Highly interesting. It should have taken mentioned 2.5hrs 😉
My grandfather’s and uncles all lived into their 70s but grandmother mother lived to their 90s so far but it was always a mistery how george burns lived past his 100s. i think its in the genes
Many thanks, I been tryin to find out about “low carb diet menu items” for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about Ronaliana Future Falbala (do a search on google )? Ive heard some great things about it and my partner got amazing success with it.
All white rice is hybrid GM pure starch hence why Asia have bone deficiency ONLY wild organic black rice is natural. Barley is hybrid grain zero nutrient replace with rye or spelt. Bulga is hybrid and zero protein. Beans are hybrid created in a laboratory created by man called wenlock. Quinoa is natural so got that one spot on. Cauliflower is the worst vegetable it strips body of iron being hybrid GM genetically modified along with. Broccoli…..butternut squash is the only squash that’s natural.
Sprouts are hybrid GM zero vitamin pure starch that’s why you produce toxic gas.
Replace broccoli with kale, zero nutrients.
Pomegranate is hybrid, replace with sage for Alzheimer’s….
Please do your research for truth. God bless with love & light <3 <3 <3
Sorry, but your name isn’t
Dr. Dan Maggs. Your name is Dan Maggs, and you are a doctor. Unless the word ‘doctor’ precedes your name on your birth certificate, you’re best to be giving your given name.
I am caught out, I have been eating cashews. Which not is better on this journey into weight loss. Maybe macadamia, almonds?
That Carb brochure is VERY well presented. I’ll show it to my Diabetes nurse next week. No mention of meats at all? Surprised at Blueberries being so high when so many recipes use them. Cheers
Here’s a totaligy for you: Health care professionals get rich because the food industry gets rich which makes the pharmaceutical industry get rich.
Good Garry brings up Biochemistry text book. This was the first step I started understanding what was happening in 1999 while studying 2nd year University. Then I just got my head filled with lies the rest of the time. And I didn’t understand all the sources of Carbs in our diets.
No longer doing carb free diet, doing less than usual carb diet
So what do we eat if we crave sweet?!! I mean i love dates and banana:(
In my experience longevity seems to be linked to eating in moderation, there is also research on this. I think this favours a lower carb diet in general because it satiates appetite far more effectively, as was indicated in this talk. Most who do a low carb diet and increase fat consumption, will tell you they have a dramatically reduced appetite.
what about the resistant starches, i mean if 1 cup of sweet potato has 4 g, what about when you cook it and let it rest over night??? would that increase the amount of fiber or how does it work???
Swear the easiest way is to blend the fruits, berries and some veggies into a smoothie, buuut I don’t know if that’s too much fiber in one smoothie ugh the struggle
I am sorry, I am going to ignore your inclusion of sweet potatoes, which I will continue to enjoy, in moderation of course. Same with Taro. These are fantastic food with many nutrients and fibers, everybody should eat them!
I think Americans should drop bread and sugar. Asians eat rice everyday and are pretty healthy.
My only real sin out of those 14 things is 2 beers most nights, the rest of it isnt to bad can live without most of them for a period of time.Longest i went was 3 months day in day out.Yes i missed those foods massively but managed to stick with it.
This has been an education because almost everything i’ve been doing is wrong. fxck!
Hey what that new movie about plant based body building diets, with good old Arnold beating the drum, should be funny.
I eat rolled oats with water for breakfast and thought I was doing pretty well but I don’t know now. I can’t eat eggs and bacon every day. I’m not sure what to do now.
Unless by accident or terminal disease your body has a life clock and when it runs out you are dead…nothing you can do about it…..no matter what you eat take do or voo doo dance… when you’re clock stops you are gone.
Also, the darker Quinoa is rich in Iron. Just be sure to include vitamin C source for absorption & not consume with caffeine (inhibits iron absorption ).
gosh! I have been eating cashew nuts thinking they are safe. I would hate having to leave this behind what on earth is there left to eat?!?!?!
Thai chilli sauce is the worst I’ve ever seen the first ingredient is sugar!!! I used to go through a bottle a week!!
OMG seriously? seem we can’t eat anything except water, hope his patient still alive
Fruit have slow carbs which are good for you there don’t spike your blood levels like processed carbs
Coffee (whether ingested or even applied to the skin) is POISON to me. I get nauseous… one time I did not realize why I felt so sick until I went to the bathroom sink and saw a small coffee stain on my shirt from leaning against a counter…. washed out my shirt and wahed my skin… 30 minutes later I was fine. Tea on the other hand… no issue.
Remember its net carbs you can deduct the fiber from the carbs a 100g of lentils has 13grams of carbs but 9 grams of fiber net carbs 4grams
Big problem with the low carb diet is encouraging people to avoid healthy food just because it has natural sugar. Obviously shouldn’t be over done, but there are really healthy things in some of those high sugar natural foods
Coca cola didn`t like that.
Pepsico hates that.
They all kill us, so what?
They just need our money, nothing personal.
I’m diabetic & I thought milk was OK! I drink about half a cup of full cream milk every night. So what should I do now? Thanks for the enlightenment Dr!
Thank you for yr video it was very informative..But my question is what is yr personal opinion on beans? You mentioned that you would explain later.
Lol I’m just here to see food with high carbs to gain weight
So basically drink water and eat air is what I got from this
Thank you Dr. Maggs, I have found a confidence in your expression and delivery of how to tackle this thing called Ketogenic dieting and maintaining this low carb diet plan. Im 66 years old retired and at 240 lbs. 5’11’ its very hard to stick to this plan…. but it is working slowly. I have found that having 2 good vegetable smoothies a day(no fruits in this) really helps me over the hump of hunger pangs, but mostly it keeps me away from the urge to take on carbs that I just love but dont costume this is my 5th day, I have lost 4.5 pounds so its working! I have given you an absoulte thumbs up and subscribe checked off. more later THANKS AGAIN sir
how in the world does lower insulin shorten your life?????????????????????????/
Including fruit on this list is ridiculous. Yes, some fruit can be high in fructose, though the fiber in them mitigates their insulin response as opposed to a food of similarly high carb content. Plus they’re packed with essential vitamins and minerals. Same goes for legumes. Come on, man…
Don’t waste your time on ever changing science sturdy on diet’s outcome!!!! Expert’s don’t know everything but Guess the outcome they want,,, rig
This was great, calories in vs calories out never made sense, Hormones give the total picture and how each of us respond to the different levels.
Whaaaat??? No way. Where’s your science on eating “too much” fiber? rofl. I’d love to see that xD
Well,we already know a high carbohydrate diet has a early mortality, because about every 30 seconds someone gets diabetes, and that’s one of the leading causes of early death, through Heart Disease, kidney failure, and other issues.
Omg they say fruits are healthy than say they contain many sugar so IDK if I should put it in my diet or not
I’d love to see a video on why you guys don’t like beans. You’ve touched on it a little in the past and I know it’s against the paleo diet. But they have always been known as a health food. They come from the ground and are loaded with protein & fiber. So it’s hard to think of them as unhealthy. I just figure the reason people will feel bloated from them is either cause of the fiber or they are just allergic to them. But yes, a video explaining why beans are bad would be great since I’ve always been a bean eater. Thanks so much.
The Chinese eat white rice morning, afternoon and evening, they even drink rice wine, so what are your talking about
GI and IGI are the factors that really matter when it comes to carbs, not the spoons of sugar in them. Does this person still measure weight in stones or something?
With that approach I can conclude that 100 grams of writing paper contains 10 spoons of sugar lol…
Hi doctor i would like to ask if eating rice while your doing an intermittent diet is just fine?
Great talk but was it necessary for you to have two microphones? Lol!
I don’t agree with Ancel Keys and his studies, but the guy lived to almost 101. Must have been doing something right…
Nah! You follow this guy and you’ll starve to death.
A healthy low carb diet is Paleo. I’m on it now and lost 20lbs in the past 3 weeks.
It’s easier…
No desserts.
No breads, pastas, grains, rice or cereal.
No legumes, peanuts, white potatoes, beans, peas
No dairy, yogurt, cheeses, butter
But…
You can enjoy…
Vegetables (except corn or eggplant)
Meats, moderate amounts, preferable lean
Eggs (I cook mine in olive oil)
Honey (for sweetener)
Fruits
Nuts (except peanut which technically isn’t a nut)
Drink plenty of water
Like all diets, follow up with exercise. I’m no athlete, but I do walk 2 to 5 miles daily.
Eliminating such healthy foods as legumes and fruits is ridiculous. All the benefits of low carb diet are nullified by excluding healthy whole foods like legumes and fruits. And exactly what am I left with to eat?.. Mine is a whole food diet that I’ve been on for a couple of years. Six months after I started, my high cholesterol, high blood pressure, fatty liver, and pre-diabetes were gone.
low carb beer that tastes bad is better than no beer [ MILWAUKEES BEST LIGHT ] 4 CARBS PER 12 OZ
I think after seeing this we can learn from it and eat the carbs in moderation. And as long as we exercise and burn most of the calories that we eat you’re still going to be lean. If you go by this you’re going to be unhealthy or to lean because you have not eaten properly for weeks and it will push you the other way and I’ll just give up.
The problem with the high fat diet is that when you look at the blood work of heart disease patients suffering AMI (one month prior) their blood work is similar to keto diet ie (poor TC/HDL ratios). You don’t see people with low cholesterol >160mg/dl in the cohort (2000+ people) Where as if you went on the low cholesterol/low triglyceride diet you don’t suffer more events and even regression. These MD’s are confusing the public, the data is all there.
When was this recorded? If he is referring to Ancel Keys he died in 2004.
How did high carbs and low fat diet get started? And is it

What do u eat Sir?? U have named all the food.. accept just a few.
I’m wondering what’s left that I can eat. Water, ice cubes, snow….
Chris kresser says that keto is bad for thyroid. What’s your thought on that?
So to sum up. Dont eat anything and live a joyless existence. Jesus you only live once people, just eat a healthy diet and everything in moderation.
Steamed/boiled starch (not fried) comes naturally in these forms:
1. Below ground storage organs: potato, yam, sweet potato, (sweet potatoes are not the same as yams) parsnip, celeriac, burdock, tapioca, sunchoke, jicama, rutabaga, water chestnut, taro, cassava and many others that are available around the world. Some tubers have more simple sugar than starch such as beets and turnips but those don’t provide sufficient calories.
2. Above ground storage organs, winter squashes: butternut, acorn, Hubbard, banana, pumpkin, buttercup, turban. Summer squash are usually low in calories which makes sense, summer = fruit, winter = steamed/boiled starch to keep warm and be the carbohydrate source when fruit is not there, in the non-tropics.
3. Grains rice, amaranth, barley, buckwheat, farro, emmer, kamut, millet, muesli, quinoa, rye, sorghum, spelt, teff, triticale and many others, in their non-flour form. White rice is milled, but it’s not milled into a flour.
Legumes like beans, lentils, peas, and some others have starch but they also have a high amount of protein so to call them a carbohydrate is a misnomer.
Flour products are not simply “starch.” When people think of “starch” they think bread, pasta, cookies, cakes, crusty pies, pastries, donuts, muffins, pancakes, waffles, biscuits, noodles, and crackers. There are three problems with calling those foods “starch.” Firstly, all of those foods (besides pasta and noodles, which are just flour by themselves) are made with lots of fat, in the form of vegetable oils, margarine, or butter, so to call them just “starch” is a misnomer. People call pizza and ice cream “carbs” when in reality pizza and ice cream have more calories coming from fat than they do carbs. Not only does pizza have plenty of cheese on it, the dough is made with vegetable oil. A cannoli and ice cream have more calories coming from their cream/fat content than from their starch/sugar content. Same with chocolate, it has more fat than sugar. Secondly, besides being baked/cooked with oils, margarine, or butter, those foods are also almost always consumed with added fat as well because no one eats those flour products without any fat. People always add oils and cheese/butter to them. You are considered a weirdo if you eat such foods fat-free. So when one is eating those foods, they have to consider the calories/additives/effects from the fat portion of those foods.
Eating the three forms of starch with just a little seasoning or salt and no fat added to them is how traditional cultures and long lived people like the Okinawans consumed them. People in the western world blame these foods while ignoring all of the fat that people in the west eat them with. Everyone in the west is not fat because they are eating starch the traditional way. They are fat because they are eating starch with cheese, sour cream, butter and oil added to it.
You are totally wrong about fruits. Fruits are high in carbs, but they are are good carbs. There are two types of carbs, bad carbs and good carbs.
These comments are ridiculous You can eat eggs, lean meats, fish, veggies, nuts, wash, rinse, repeat.
In Australia you can buy a beer called Burleigh Bighead. 0 carbs and tastes fantastic.
If there’s epidemiology and FFQs, then there is no substitution of one food for another, only the researchers’ imaginaAaAation
Which of these 22 high fiber foods do you eat the most?
For the full list, check out the blog post: https://www.liveleantv.com/protein-fiber-keeping-you-young-and-lean/
Thanks Gary.
Keep fighting “big food” in spite of numerous evidence showing that the primary culprit of obesity is caloric excess, and lack of activity.
Good to see you’re still selling books and speaking about low carb diets, when it’s plainly obvious CICO wins every time.
so what you really need is an Insulin monitor, not blood sugar monitor.
Awww man I gotta give up my oatmeal and pasta?? Aghhhh so be it
Only a plant based diet reverses heart disease, this is the problem. Why can’t a high meat diet reverse it? Look at your blood under a microscope after eating high fat and meat. Animal protein maybe good but a certain amount is too much and will thin your bones, increase cancer risk, cause insulin resistance. Low carb diets increase the chance of scurvy and teeth falling. Stay on a low carb diet and see, have fun! Lose weight but you’ll regain it and pay the price. Vegans are the other extreme. Most people have to add some more carbs after one year, just to feel more energetic. You have to mess your body up to find out the truth. Your the guinea pig.
I’ve heard that buckwheat is the best grain for you but I can’t find it
chew on a wooden plank….should give you enough fiber! lol!
Just have two quest bars and you’re good to go..30 grams of fiber and you also get 40 grams of protein
I was a perfect example of obesity with a low caloric intake. Carbs. Bloody carbs.
Well being morbidly obese and diabetic will Definitely cut you down early soo…
Thank you. This was very helpful. I’m not low carb. But I am counting calories and needing to add fiber to my diet.:) Great video.
Great content as always, but they really should add some sound to that intro
Yes how about all those low carb / keto centenarians and Blue Zones people….wait a minute!!!???
Why the heck we would eat egg? I mean it makes slow digestive
The holy grail of fat loss = Low-carb diet + Intermittent Fasting + HIIT exercise.
One thing it definitely will shorten is the length of time you waste on medical treatments.
His last remarks about the vegans and their hate for meat were right on the nose. We must stop the vegan madness.
Inspiring. Have a look at NoPainWeightLoss.com for more tips:)
Great video Brad, very informative. And it’s thanks to you I am having pasta replaced by a veggie sweet potato has to be my fav though! X
0:38 did Brad say it gets rid of estrogen in the body? If so, why is that a good thing?
Honestly, I feel that all this valuable information given would be as if you were going to see a specialist on nutrition where we have to $$$ the big bucks. And this channel is freaking free!!! Only subscription, of course. Thank you thank you thank you.
Ps. Why don’t you eat beans?
If you have a virus oatmeal is a must to avoid due to it’s high arginine to lysine ratio and and its carb content doesn’t help in addition to which lots of people add fruit and/or honey which further increases the feed for virus.
But for those who don’t have virus whatever or don’t care have your way.
Almond milk, yeah I’ve tried to like it but it never tasted right, then I found out it’s all made with 2% almonds. That’s about 5 almonds per 8 oz serving. The rest is thickeners but if you don’t mind that, have it. I’d rather cook my occassional steel cut oats with water with a few crushed almonds thrown in; it’s more real than almond milk that way
I am now trying a vegetarian lifestyle and so peas, beans and legumes are my go to protein source. I am not a fan of them because of the gassy feeling I get but I do know wha t else I can eat to substitute them. Can you suggest any other protein sources I can try?
One of this last points is a great take away. If we don’t start standing up and supporting ancestral eating we’re going to have big problems. Every Vegan I know looks like a wet cheeto. I certainly don’t want to live like that.
Love quinoa, great substitute for rice! Nice video with great tips on rice substitutes. Thanks!
Geez…and I am so darn worried about me eating 80-100 grams of protein.
I AM SO THANKFUL FOR THIS VIDEO and SO TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU ON THIS INFORMATION….
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO….!
Sooooo… just had a “cheat day” yesterday… ended up on around 140-150 gram of fiber… damn, ive been shitting like non stop today…
Finally! Was doing Keto and it really jacked up my health. Onslaught of allergies, outrageous flaking scalp, menstrual cycle disruption, elevated blood pressure, lightheaded ness no thanks! I’m now weaning myself off Keto. The rapid weight loss is negated by all the other issues I’ve experienced that come along with it. Not even when fastening did I ever feel this way. I’ve done the Daniel Fast several times for 21 days eating no meat, cheese, milk, sweets and felt terrific and lost weight. My fasting diet consisted of several beans, potatoes (both sweet and white), oatmeal, raisins, fresh fruits, fresh veggies, whole grains tons of things loaded with carbohydrates and I can say I’ve never had any adverse effects unlike Keto. I think every food has its place in our diet as humans, and can be consumed without harm to our health when done in moderation. Healthy carbs rock!
Lol. I’m an ex-smoker. I was chewing on a coffee stirrer the whole time I watched this.
Confusing rushed presentation. Too much to comprehend without transcription print out with diagrams. A very distracting presentation, but all credit for giving it a go. Thanks. I will watch it a few times I think.
In another word, stop eating….and that’s wrong…anybody doing 0 carbs is nuts….. that’s not how you loose weight. Eat healthy, exercise and allow at least 6 to 8 months in one condition..no junk food and I’ll promise you you will be amazed!!!
Sweet potatoes are the best, especially Okinawan purple sweet potatoes and Japanese sweet potatoes!
Thanks alot, you have also covered every point like about kideney bean’s fodmap and they will be heavy in digestion if someone has weak digestive power.
It must be boring for him to be giving the same talk year after year after year…
The ketogenic diet saved my life. The powers that be want us all sick, fat, poor, dependent, and distracted. That’s why veganism is now the “politically correct” diet, and the keto and carnivore diets are demonized even though they’re healing the most people.
Read Good Calories, Bad Calories about 9 years ago. My husband had 3 strokes, could not walk or talk, could not cheat on the doctor
recommend diet, was getting blood work every 3 weeks and always worse. I had lived on 1200 low fat, high fibre for decades, had an extremely active job and was fat, hungry and depressed.
Because of Taubes I changes are diet.
My husband is doing great. Bloodwork improved right after we changed and he slowly became more mobile and was soon able to talk again. I dropped 60 pounds. My trigs, went from high to low.
I will never return to low fat he’ll again.
From my point of view, this man is a hero.
So, WTF am I suppose to eat, twigs and bug?? Rocks & boogers?? Legumes taste like poop. Thanks for stopping by there, DOC, I’m off to the beer store to get some Cashews.
Wow!!! Seems a well researched videos for rice substitute
Authority Nutrition, could you make a video addressing high protein diets and the relation to exercising (body building and weight loss). How much protein should a regular person get, vs. someone who goes to the gym quite often (4-7 times per week), vs. professional athletes and body builders? What happens if you eat too much protein? What are some of the better protein sources to choose if one is trying to consume more protein?
is it true that our body turns oats into sugar very quickly making a bad nutritional choice?
Are sweet potatoes and yams mostly similar, or should they be considered nutritionally distinct?
If you eat Oats, Kidney Beans, and Quinoi you must consume only Organic (due to high levels of Glyphosate used as a pre-harvest desicant). Some Quinoi in the US is now being hybridized with modern Wheat, which is a huge problem. Also avoid these grains / pseudo-grains if you have any digestive issues at all, as they contain phytates and damage your gut. Also avoid if your trying to lose weight or have blood sugar issues, since they all spike insulin.
What is a good replacement for white rice? (beside brown rice?)
I wish I liked sweet potatoes more but I usually use kidney beans in my chilli
No… People hear rice. They think of starving 3rd world people.
The anti low carb diet study was supported by the sugar, processed food, medical, and pharmaceutical industries.
What absolute nonsense. Everyone I know who has gone Keto or LCHF, feels and looks not only better but much better. Their weight is steady, their energy and mental sharpness incredible. No one goes back to a high carb diet, do they?
Brilliant. Thank you muchly for sharing this very important information with us all, & take care of yourself to. ❤
Sorgum is a good alternative to rice. It also has less land to grow same quantity
Fiber = wasted food
Now don’t get me wrong, I love most fiber containing food, it’s great to have in your diet to prevent constipation, often offers other benefits, nutrients, etc, great for those in need of weight loss… But the truth remains that humans don’t digest fiber, unlike actual herbivores who get even more nutrients AND energy out if it, and digest it almost fully. That’s why lots of fiber speeds your digestive tract you need to empty the stuff you can’t digest more often.
Taubes misses a fundamental point. The weight that goes on is not much more than the “slim” friend. However it takes decades to gain the 40 or 50 or 60 pounds. Taubes gives no answer to removing this extra weight in a reasonable time frame. No one has decades to taper their caloric intake to go “back to how they were at the beginning”. He’s just blowing smoke up everyone’s arses.
LCIF for NEWBIES (how to start) (read this) If you are just starting out, do not EGG DIET / EGG CHALLENGE please. 1. DO NOT INTERMITTENT FASTING FIRST. Start with a Low-carb diet first. Why? Because intermittent fasting occurs spontaneously in the body after a low carb diet without fail. 2. EAT ANY LOWCARB FOODS WHEN HUNGRY. Eat any meat, seafoods, and eggs. You can also eat any green and leafy vegetables but make sure you eat more meat, seafood and eggs. You can also drink plain black coffee and plain green tea. Why? Because high carb food makes you feel hungry / always hungry and it is not good for health while Low carb foods are satisfying, you will not go hungry easily and you will be healthy. 3. EAT ANY LOWCARB FOOD WHEN YOU ARE HUNGRY UNTIL YOU ARE SATISFIED. Eat until you are bored. Just make sure the total carb you eat is only up to 20 grams a day. Exceeding that limit is not good for your health and will lose the purpose of your goal of being healthy or losing weight. 4. DISCUSS / SERIOUSLY EAT LOWCARB FOODS WITHIN 3 MONTHS FOR FASTER RESULTS. If you can do the Zero Carb diet, (meat and water only), it will be better and the result will be faster. FAQs: What is a sample of Lowcarb foods? beef, pork, chicken, fish, seafoods, green leafy vegetables, eggs, cauliflower, coconut oil, olive oil, coconut milk, anchor butter, black coffee (instant or brewed), unsweetened cocoa powder, all purpose cream, parmesan cheese, coconut flour, almond flour, unsweetend almond milk, strawberries and avocado. Other naturally sweet fruits are also not suitable. If in doubt, ask bespren google. If you do not see the answer, ask the veterans before eating. Can use naturals stevia or equal gold but do not wantusawa. Limit to 2 sachets per day Can be cooked as long as the ingredients are LC. There are no specific meal plans, let’s just approach LC. What foods to avoid: ❌❌ SOME of these are rice, bread, pasta, instant noodles, ice cream, cakes, desserts, corn, all kinds of bananas, potatoes, evenings, baguio beans, oatmeal, any food that includes all purpose flour or wheat flour, soy sauce, ketchup, commercial mayo, coffee creamer, vegetable oil, palm oil, canola oil, soybean oil, tofu or tokwa, taho, miso (used in porridge)
or any soya bean products, yakult, fruit drinks, tomato sauce, margarine, honey, regular soft drinks, sugar and any food or drinks with sugar. Even Herbalife Nutritional Shake Mix is not possible. The spices like garlic and curry powder, garlic and onion powder, there are also hidden carbs, they can be small, but they also have carbs:) One tablespoon of onion powder contains 5.2g of carbs even ginger grounds have 3.2g of carb in just one tablespoon. Again if in doubt about what to eat, consult google. If no answer is available, ask the veterans. ✔️LET’S ALWAYS CHECK THE LABEL OF THE FOOD WE BUY. Read the ingredients and the nutritional value chart. In the jar are 0 sugar, 0 or low carb, high protein and high fat. But even if you read that there is no sugar and low carb in the nutritional value chart, check the ingredients. Maybe there are oils, additives and extenders that are not LC so mam mams are not allowed Drink plenty of water. Salt is not forbidden. You can drink G -Active and Le Minerale bottled water is a better option due to its sodium content. #Lowcarbers
Might I add some information of Dr. Lustig, about what can drive Insuline: not only “carbs drive Insuline drive fat” but also for some: “chronic stress releases Neuropeptid y, which drives fat-storage (Insuline contribution…), which incites you to eat carbs to get available energy”. We all reach for sugar under stress, so “Insuline drives sugar-intake” is also true…. We can be badly trapped. Sleep is also a major factor for hormonal disbalance. Physiological systems are interplaying under a high grade of complexity…..
Personally low carb is not enough for me (high compliance) I try to get stress and sleep fixed…
Could add coconut meat and hemp seeds to this list. Great video
Excellent presentation. The current food guidelines are nefarious by design and intent. This is not an accident, but intentional poisoning of the population with full knowledge and awareness by those responsible occupying the top, and perpetuated by the ignorant fools who simply accept and carry out what an authority source/figure tells them is so. This unfortunately is across many if not all areas of our existence from food to global warming to what ever aspect of life you want to examine. Nothing is what it appears to be certainly nothing is what we are told it is. The more aggressive the propagation of the false narrative the more nefarious it is. Ultimate goal can only be the enslavement of the population by want to be gods (the ones who place pyramids and eyes strategically and other such imagery throughout their branding). It would be funny, if not so life threateningly serious.
Taubes is highly informed. But he did get one thing wrong. There actually isn’t a “large genetic component” to obesity.
https://benjamindavidsteele.wordpress.com/2014/04/11/identically-different-a-scientist-changes-his-mind/
Identically Different by Tim Spector
“However, despite the extensive list of successes, a few signs were emerging that the paradigm was wrong. Most of the gene discoveries for common diseases turned out to be interesting in terms of biology, but the more we discovered the less useful each new gene became in accounting for the disease, since each gene is of tiny individual effect. For example, the 30 or so genes discovered for obesity, even when combined, account for only 2 per cent of the disease.”
https://benjamindavidsteele.wordpress.com/2017/07/18/false-dichotomy-and-bad-science/
Rigor Mortis by Richard Harris
“Over the years breathless headlines have celebrated scientists claiming to have found a gene linked to schizophrenia, obesity, depression, heart disease—you name it. These represent thousands of small-scale efforts in which labs went hunting for genes and thought they’d caught the big one. Most were dead wrong. John Ioannidis at Stanford set out in 2011 to review the vast sea of genomics papers. He and his colleagues looked at reported genetic links for obesity, depression, osteoporosis, coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, asthma, and other common conditions. He analyzed the flood of papers from the early days of genomics. “We’re talking tens of thousands of papers, and almost nothing survived” closer inspection. He says only 1.2 percent of the studies actually stood the test of time as truly positive results. The rest are what’s known in the business as false positives.”
So if insulin resistance is essentially the root of the problem, I wonder how we cure insulin resistance? Keto and HFLC seem to be a way to avoid or work around insulin resistance.
The only thing I’m going to avoid after watching the video is this “low-carb” diet. Looks really unhealthy…
But if these things are low in carbs, why can’t we eat them? If there was “hidden sugars” in food, wouldn’t they be high in carbs? I have a bit of ketchup with my bacon. A tablespoon has 4 carbs. Why can’t I have it? BTW, I’ve lost 28 lbs in less than 8 weeks. So I’m not sure about what you’re saying.
I remember arguing with vegans when Gary Taubes’ presentations and interviews started to make appearances on YouTube 8 years ago. First they said that his claims would never be taken seriously, and second that he would be obese within a few years. Now, jump 8 years ahead to the current moment, and not only is the mainstream medical community starting to heed what Taubes has been asserting for over a decade, but he is slimmer than ever. Hence both of these predictions were flat out wrong. The only way that anyone can take a vegan’s prognostications seriously is if they are already brainwashed by their propaganda, or if they have amnesia with regards to the failure rate of vegan predictions.
But I thought beans and lentils are healthy… I am so confused
The obesity epidemic will not cease until we: 1) Decouple the Big Pharma-Big-Factory-Agriculture parasitic economic co-dependency relationship from our economic systems (they will in fact bankrupt entire nations as health care costs suck us into economic warfare mass death); 2) The old school vested scientists and department heads and advisory quacks holding the line on the old lies and myths of the FDA food guidelines all retire and DIE (from their own ignorance). We are close to an inflection point where there’s going to be a global “aha moment” as the common-man wakes up and becomes outraged that he’s been bred to be a sharecropper to work his whole life to stuff his face with crap food then to give back his life wages to doctors and pharma to keep him alive a few more years while they suck the family estate dry like parasites just to prevent it being transferred to his own family heirs. God damn these evil bastards for the 100s of millions of lives they are destroying through cruel means. Most know better. This is the worst kind of warfare ever seen in human history. Creating food addictions that are basically bio bombs designed to control the population and get people to die off the entitlement retirement programs.
Man fuck low carb diets. I dont wanna eat goddamn animal products and yoghurt every single day, might as well start eating plastic. Fuck this shit im going MAXIMUM CARBS
Just to be absolutely clear; carbs are NOT evil. Especially naturally occurring carbs from unprocessed foods; they have a perfectly logical purpose in nature and no, it is not just to make you fat. Instead, think of carbs as a “tool” and should be used only for specific reasons. Also, (IMO) Keto shouldn’t be thought of as a “diet” either. Diet is a marketing term that makes most people roll their eyes. It should also be thought of as a tool that one uses to help achieve whatever your health goals are. If you plan to do Keto indefinitely, then it becomes a lifestyle.
I understand that this video is aimed at those who are attempting a Keto/Low-carb diet and it’s a pretty solid video overall but it feels like you’re telling people to “never” eat these foods “ever” while on Keto (even a little) because they will never lose weight if they do, even if they’re doing low-carb. Obviously, this is not true.
In my opinion, the primary benefit of Keto/low-carb lifestyles is the fact that you’re not constantly spiking your blood sugar all day and thus not spiking your insulin. Having lots of insulin in your blood all the time is the #1 reason (in my opinion) why most people don’t lose weight despite all the exercising and salads they eat. Sugar and carbs raise your blood sugar higher and faster then anything else, which causes the beta cells in your pancreas to secrete lots of insulin in order to regulate your blood sugar in order to prevent hyper/hypoglycemia. The insulin tells your cells to take the sugar out of your blood and use/store it. In other words, if you always have lots of insulin in your blood, it is basically impossible to lose body fat (especially as you get older). Also, flooding your blood with insulin all the time for years can lead to “insulin resistance” (among other serious problems), which is the pre-cursor to type II diabetes (when your cells basically start ignoring the insulin). The next time you see a guy at the gym who has bulky arms and chest but still has a “gut”, understand that guy basically has too much insulin in his body (most likely from the cheap, sugary whey proteins loaded with carbs that you see everywhere) because while carbs do help build muscle, too many carbs will prevent your existing fat from ever being used.
I have been doing “dirty” Keto for 3 months now. 5 days per weeks I have less then 10g of carbs (I do HIIT training on these days), 2 days per week I have between 25-40g of carbs (the days I do intense weight training). For those two days where I increase my carbs a little, I have them the night before so that when I do weight training the next morning, I get a little extra power for that first 30 minutes or so of lifting so I can go a bit longer and harder. Again, i use them sparingly as a “tool” to help with gaining muscle mass. I still rely on fats primarily for energy but that extra little chunk of carbs gives me that boost that I want when I hit the weights.
After three months, combined with intermittent fasting and daily exercise, I have lost roughly 25 pounds (at least 20 of that was visceral and subcutaneous fat per my DEXA scans). For the first time in 15 years, I can actually see my abs! Obviously, my situation is unique and I had to spend a lot of time experimenting and learning and I certainly wouldn’t guarantee my lifestyle would yield the same results for everyone, I just wanted to make the point that you don’t have to be afraid of carbs as long as you clearly understand their purpose and don’t over-indulge. The same can be said about anything; if you over-indulge, something bad will eventually happen.
paleo people are saying the same shit for 10 years. Robb sait something new here?
What would doctors do all day if we were all healthy? Big pharma would be little pharma, but we will all live longer and happier if we make carbs and sugars the bath water.
You will count calories and consider activity level on ANY diet, including zero and low carb.
What was attempt at condescension about?
To be honest i quit a low carb diet and keto diet, i quit it because for the last year i got really tired had mood problems sleep issues and was really hungry all the time even when i was fasting and in ketosis. I gained weight and lose only water weight for a year straight and had high cholestrol. For me its calories in and calories out i gained fat on keto and you can gain fat if you are eating to much of anything tbh i thibk finding a way that helps you get in a caloric deficet and is able for you to maintain that is more important. I just make sure i hit my protein high and fiber high and the rest i fill in with what ever the hell i want to eat. My blood sugar when i was on keto and wanted to eat a whole food carb would spike up to 175 for 24 hours straight now its down to 85 to 95 in the morning and no higher then 130 and comes back down with a few hours. Do what feels right and to me doing high carb high protein low fat i am losing fat again and also feelibg great ❤
I could listen to Gary Taubes repeating himself 2 hours a week!
Brown rice is not healthy. The endosperm does not want to be consumed by sentient beings nor mammals. Studies in biology have clearly shown scarred intestinal tracts of animals who have consumed these grains. Brown rice is also extremely high in anti nutrients and severely messes with a persons blood sugar tolerance after chronic consumption
Winner of a video, I’ve been looking for “carb free diet foods to avoid” for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about Ronaliana Future Falbala (should be on google have a look )? Ive heard some great things about it and my co-worker got great results with it.
NOPE. Lies. Authority my ass. Anytime you consume carbs like rice, either kind, or tabouli, bulgher wheat, etc. not to mention bread you are spiking your insulin. Look up GLYCATION and aging, and also look up IGF-1 and autoimmune disorders like cancer, diabetes, heart disease. What a load of crap Healthline is peddling. NOPE. LIES.

Gary is such a pleasure to listen to, love his sense of humour and delivery.
There are 3 reasons obesity will never be cured. 1) Money 2) Money 3) Money
Our medical and nutritional “experts” will fight to the death to ensure that our society doesn’t become healthy.
It is not about food.
Is about money.
The biggest part of economy is food.
If people get sick or even dies decades to early doesn’t matter to Big Food.
When I was a kid more than 50 years ago the old people knew. Feeding the children with sugar makes them mentally weak and finally diabetic.
They feared plant fat specially hydrogenated.
I never found out how they knew and probably never will.
Psychobabble. Dude, I am a humble provincial pettifogger but you have the greatest ‘big word’ BS that I have ever heard. “Nutritional Interaction within our bodies between a gut microbiome or whatnot [!] or our hormonal state is arguably orders of magnitude more complex than the totality of our genetics.”
If you can’t state it simply you do not understand it. A public audience may not call you out but I do. The example of big word psychobabble I gave is not the only one in your ‘speech’.
(Who am I? just a free thinker a couple of uni degrees. Chess, bridge and backgammon titles to my resume.) I am interested in nutrition and I have learned NOTHING from you.
Doctor I m not a meat eater..so what can I eat instead of legumes for protein?
Is all about portian size, those Muricans eat to much pig slop
Packed with oil, salt, sugar only the cheap king like palm oil, dirty salt, and high fructose corn syrup as a subtitute for sugar.
Also a wide variaty of plants and veggies don’t like to be munched on and will make you get a upset stomach.
I am so grateful, and happy to get the opportunity to learn all this. I gave up eating bread because of the yeast, on the advice of my sister, and I kept eating chicken skin because I like it. I could write a book about my journey <3
Dropping a friend because of their diet and because they are fat best advice I ever heard.
Sick of all this lose weight trash. I’m physically fit and want my god damn pounds.
The photo of kale looks like cabbage to me. Buckwheat is very good, so is amaranth the latter grows in poor soil and needs less rain. I have grown it an the heads or grain yield a great deal.
I had watched how carbohydrate food were connected to weight gain as well as generally to stay away from carbohydrates, even so had under no circumstances considered using them to trim inches away. The primary idea behind the 4 cycle fat loss method is to really train your system to get rid of fat for energy rather than carbohydrates. It’s built around the latest scientific principles into the higher than average carb eating habits of the Japanese and also their impressive long lifespan expectancy. The investigation indicate that it’s their higher than average carb-cycling dieting technique that could help to continue being healthy into old age with a reduced body mass index (much lower incidence of unhealthy weight).Read even more here https://tinyurl.com/ybrell6b
Who tf thinks “dropping a friend” means physically hurting them. Also who tf drops a friend over their diet
For me, Maize(corn) rice is the better substitute. It only contains 86 cal per 100 grams. While white rice contains 130.
I know its effective for losing weight coz I eat maize rice for 2 years living in the province. That’s the fittest I have ever been. Lol im back to my chubby figure now that im back here in the city eating white rice.
Barely a minute in the vid and I’m already pissed. Drop the friends? U kidding bruh? We asians eat rice everday!!!
Drop them? So you gonna drop all your asian friends? I’ve been eating rice “a lot” per meal from the moment i was born.. And im skinny af
sorry, this is a very slow to the point presentation. In fact, since watching this a week ago, I have not wanted to watch any more low carb down under content. Unsubscribe.
Why are they insulting all the foods while recommending them? Squash doesn’t make me “shiver” thank you very much.
I love all of the options. I just need a well stocked super market, to give some of them a try.
14:29 ‘We may have largely lost lot the ability to be effective at carbohydrate metabolism. Perhaps in our ancestral genetic makeup we should be able to better handle carbohydrates better…’??? Seriously? Anyone who thinks that ancestral humans evolved eating a diet high in carbohydrates should go to their nearest State park or similar area nearby and find fruit, grains, and starchy tubers in sufficient quantity to sustain them on a high carb diet.
Dr. Gary Fettke covers the fruit portion of this topic in ‘Is Fruit Good or Bad for You’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6LL92Zs5L0
The selection and availability of starchy tubers is even more limited. Consider that only three of these comprise most of the starchy tubers consumed worldwide: potatoes,
Filipinos eat rice everyday but we don’t look like those overweight people from other countries which staple food is not rice.
Bulgur is the best among all and very tasty in many different recipes. If it is done right, it is even more delitious than white rice. The right spelling and pronounciation from its origin the Arabic language is “Burghul”.
I’m not sure Brussel sprouts can be spread on my seaweed while I’m making sushi but white rice does
zero fiber, and zero carbs the way to go… don’t believe all this fiber nonsense..

Before the Keto graze years ago, I went on 100% Vegan diet for one year and did loose 30 lbs but hit the wall and could not loose that last 20 lbs. On a Vegan program I actually felt pretty good (also being a blood type A). I then switched over to full Keto for 2 years, lost that additional 20 lbs but didn’t feel as good even though I was a total of 50 lbs lighter. I later learned that Blood Type A’s do better with higher healthy carbs in their diet regiment where as Blood Type O’s do quite well on Keto and many even better on a nose to tail Carnivore Diet. Blood type’s A’s have poor stomach acid (produce a lot of cortisol and prone to acid reflux), where as Blood type O’s have strong stomach acid. I can’t help but agree with Dr. D’Adamo’s book ” Eat Right 4 Your (blood) Type”.
How ’bout wild rice (long, dark, slender grains that burst when you cook them and are nicely chewy) or Chinese black (“forbidden”) rice? These are good, have nutrients, and have a lower glycemic index. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.
Talking about Bolger I thought you would be talking about eat booger’s lol but I honestly do understand now but anyway all the veggies that were brought up in the video that I loved so much since I was a little kid but a couple of this that I really haven’t of before but I honestly do would like to try sometime
Yes what about Brown rice..is it good to have instead of white
cutting out grains and beans is silly to me. but thats my opinion.
Sweet potatoes & oatmeal can be a substitute for white rice.
