I once used CyberLink’s Power Director, what do you think about it Sam?
Been using Sony Vegas Pro. I never heard of davinci resolve. I’ll have to try it out.
Anyone know off the top of their head how many of these suggestions have been made to Emacs? (If any?) I’m a Vim user and interested trying out Emacs
You two explained so well! Youtimube started here! Thank you very much!
what about sony vegas pro? how does that compare to Premier Pro?
Sam I have a question for you. I’ve been studying design and I’m a all-rounded figure but i has this terrible habit of using after effects for almost everything. I edit my videos there and it’s a pain, it takes forever, but to be honest with you when I started using premier pro I found myself completely lost. I desperately need a software to edit videos quicker than AE but I don’t know which one fits my stupid habits since premier pro was such a failure attempt. Thank you
I started using Premiere back years ago. When I went back to college, I got a Macbook, and was able to get the student price for FCPX and Motion and thought “well, I will drop Adobe and use this: I had a hard time finding tutorials on YT for FCPX (yeah, I probably didn’t look hard enough), but I managed to use it for all my early game content editing. In January, I decided to give Adobe another go, but the more and more i start “re-learning” my way around Premiere, the more and more I miss all the plugins and just simple tools that FCPX has. So, looks like I am going back to the Macbook and FCPX
Appreciate the video ironically enough I have davinci already downloaded, now comes the hard part of actual learning how to use it.
Descent engine is quite heavy on DOS PCs and level details don’t do much. I wonder why game don’t allow to disable all textures and go with simple flat polygon (I know it’s cubes in Descent) look. There were games like Robocop 3 which have much higher geometry detail than Descent and being unlit flat shaded polygons allowed them run well on old 386 or even 286 machines.
This make me wonder. Maybe programmers build engine in a way to work best with texture mapping and lightning? Or maybe they didn’t care at all and just targeted fast 486 and Pentium CPUs. The latter is quite possible since Descent DOS release runs way to fast on +1 GHz CPUs, while Wolfenstein 3D, Doom etc. run at correct speed.
I think that with some trade-offs Descent 3D gameplay could be achieved on a 286 with 25 MHz clock. No lightning, no textures, just flat polygons. Achieving similar look to Star Fox from SNES.
This is great! There’s so many out there and in 10 minutes you helped me decide. DaVinci Resolve it is!
Well, basically, Emacs 24.4 has a built-in web browser. One task left to do.
So you aren’t a huge fan of Adobe, what do you use in place of Photoshop? I agree the pricing model is a bit absurd, but I feel like the integration of all the programs makes up for that for me personally. But if there are other programs to replace them and such then it may very well be worth it to switch it up!
Ty for this. I do have to say though any of the Mac only options have a $1500 price tag attached. Makes me sad boy but I loved this ty for taking the time and being such a helpful and awesome dude.
Would love to find a version of this talk without all the rude chatter from the peanut gallery. I’ve been trying to make time to make an Emacs Meetup session, but after hearing this crowd in action, my enthusiasm to attend one is significantly dampened.
I knew levels were made of cubes, but never attempted to build one back in the day. Thanks for showing this!
Audience needs to learn how to listen, bunch of fucking children
New subbie! N talking on Toronto creators! ❤️ love the content
What are your thoughts on Sony Vegas? Surprised that you didn’t cover it in this. It’s the program I’ve always used, but I know it has some limitations.
Something you didn’t touch on is how being a portal engine allows for impossible geometry. You can have multiple segments occupy the same space like Duke 3D or Dark Forces.
I think the speaker has anger management issues, wouldn’t want to be his partner.
Pretty cool to see someone making levels for descent. I sadly lost my custom levels.
I have seen the same style of slides as thees in many presentations of open source software. Dose anybody know what program was used to make them?
Finallyyyyyyyyyy, i finished the whole VIDEO!!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS TUTORIAL,I LEARNED MUCH WITH THIS
I just wanted to say thank you so much. I have a windows pc so I went with Davinci Resolve and it is way easier to use than what I was doing.
Taran is a visionary two years ago and had already put the topics of the video in the description.
Agree! Music and transitions has a big role in making a great video
People like you and Bisqwit (overly talented and intelligent) are never part of the “industry” for some reason. Only John Carmak made it. The most brilliant people in programming world are not working in the “industry” professionally. I program on all platform in boring programming language during the day at work (swift, kotlin, c#) and at night at home, I program in C and Assembly. I am glad you are on Youtube putting so much effort to inform and entertain us. Thank you.
I used Emacs for about 5 years and switched to vi and later vim over the last 15 years. I’ve recently been switching back to Emacs mostly to see what is new. In this video, Perry mentions he got productive with Emacs in a couple weeks and really good after a month or so. I’ve heard the same from experienced programmers using vi/vim. While I think both of these are great editors, I don’t believe Perry’s statement about investing a lifetime in one editor is really worth it for many people.
As a programmer for most of my professional life, I’ve found the same experience with many tools. It takes a couple weeks to be able to get around them and then a month or two to get really productive. I would even argue you get about 90% of your productivity out of that first month or two of learning. You then spend years learning new things that add to that little 10%. So why worry so much about keeping an editor that will last your lifetime? You can become productive with a new tool in a month or two.
As far as all your information, I keep most sample code, notes etc. in plain text so it doesn’t matter what text editor I use. Use IMAP for your email and it remains on the server. Do you really care about calendar events from 1999?
So why lose out on the benefits of other editors by trying to live in one? Bob Martin (Uncle Bob) commented in one of his books that he switched from vi to IntelliJ for coding mostly due to the fantastic refactoring tools. Editing is as much about manipulations as creating text and vi and emacs still struggle with decent refactoring.
You won’t become an editor guru without spending your life in a editor, but if you can get 90% of the productivity quickly, who cares?
(and +1 for the comments on the awful audience).
Wow… I literally can’t continue because of the stupid audience, can’t watch this anymore:_:
>7 minutes in he unjokingly yells at someone to stop talking
>not a minute later, someone is talking again
is this a speech or a fucking elementary school? all of your videos are like this. it’s unbearable.
You know you probably won’t need most of this, but you clicked on it anyway, just in case.
It’s rarely good tutorials…
You don’t need going deep through the comment as usual
I got to recommend nickclendeninhackerarena@ gmail.com on http://www.nikonhackers.com who specialised in other Fields of Hacking and they are special hackers to deal with issues like cyber stalkers, credit score or stolen fund recovery jobs, any kind of social media and phone hacking. They also deals with web security, Database security Hacking.
I found the first 10 minutes not watchable because of the obvious reason. Emacs is an amazing editor but really why users need to act weirdly.
Can you share a link to your premiere pro set up? I’d love to following along using your template
guys, thanks for the tips, so much usefull but please, switch to manual focus next time 😉
I spend more time thinking than editing. Instead of a keyboard with more buttons to remember but rarely press, virtual context menus can easily let one copy/paste and whatever they like (just add “transpose” if you do that a lot, but i’d just select and drag the letter to the right place).
Hey Perry, for some reason youtube won’t let reply in the thread where such convo actually occured… but, you are dismissive about GNU Guile. With it’s both long and slow history, I understand but the last 2-3 or-so years of Guile has been a transformative time for the community. Among some of the benifits reaped from such an active period, is that of this year’s GSOC we have a /VERY/ close to drop in replacement for Emacs, powered by Guile. This is a working, usable thing and is hoping to hit mainline by 25.x. Like a lot of Guile stuff, it’s not getting a ton of press from within the GNU family though.
In-regards to Emacs as an OS, strides on that end are slowly being made too. Slowly an official GNU distro is emerging powered by guix (pronounced geek (french)) a guile based package manager and dmd a guile based init system. Guile-wm has been in rather slow, but continued enviroment… with an end goal of providing a graphic toolkit to display and extend Emacs. And other projects orbiting this spectrum exist and will likely continue to materalize soon.
In another 2-3 years, I fully expect Guile will be a notable amount of my day to day Emacs usage.
Great video my dude! Helped me find a video editing software! Keep it up man!
1) I agree with Arne Babenhauserheide’s observation: the Guile folks have already been working for some years on putting Guile Scheme into Emacs ( http://emacswiki.org/emacs/GuileEmacs). It needs support!
2) For great Emacs keyboards, as someone in the audience mentioned: https://www.kinesis-ergo.com/shop/advantage-for-pc-mac/
I have two and will never look back. Not just more comfortable, but FASTER, which I believe was Perry’s point.
I am so very jealous that you guys have been able to do so much and come so far with video and film with the use of digital imaging. When I was much younger it was nothing but film and even the cost of expendables would break the budget of a film student. Even as a photo student we would spend countless money on film, paper and processing materials. I mean digital was just hitting the scene and we were actually one of the first studios in the area to offer the service. But even still, the system was strictly for in studio and the system was limited to medium format and 4×5 cameras. Even just the editing software available now is incredible! Well, needless to say you guys have renewed my interest and it’s time to get back into the swing of things and pursue my film and photographic visions. Thanks for the push!
Heh, I still have my DMB (Descent Mission Builder) CD. I think it was originally a separate retail product, later became part of Descent II Infinite Abyss and Descent I & II Definitive Colllection, and I guess eventually became rewritten into DLE. Descent was very different to conventional sector-based 2.5D game engines of that time, i.e. Doom and Build engine, but neither free-form 3D like Quake. Cuboid nature of level structure lends to style which is certainly associated with Descent I & II. I’d love to see more ADG Mod episodes, there were many games back then which had editors but also had plenty unique engine features and quirks giving each game a distinctive look and feel.
i have no idea how to edit and want to learn, searched how to start, got this
And I dont even have a computer I am watching this so I don’t loose my skills… I am using VideoMaker app to edit my videos on my phone Everytime I’ll render a video, I have to DELETE EVRYTHING that’s deletable in my phone so it has space to render
12:38: this is the first person I’ve ever seen saying RGB is unnecessary!!
applause to this man, Taran
it is awesome
can you send the beginners video which you recommend
This is a masterclass in efficiency. I will be digesting this for months.
So I was pretty much priced out of Premiere pro:(. I have had it for years but just cant justify the cost anymore. Is Vegas pro comparable at all?
Watch my new channel ➡️ https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCQKlk2xeadd0oH2P7fjuHjA ⬅️
does he actually watch the clips sped up? or is that just sped up for us afterward
1:30:11 you can use Adobe Audition Multitrack to view waveforms and the respective lengths of clips
A “typical” sysadmin turned a financial firm exec. 0% content — bunch of self-aggrandising BS. Do not bother watching, it’s bad all the way through.
what a shitty audience. Shut the hell up and listen to the man!
40:00..but wouldnt embedding WebKit make emacs too large. I just deleted Webkit download from my Mac coz it was 10Gig (complete source ) as i was runnin outta space.
I was Tired of watching this so go to download it and it’s 14.56 gib omg but it was cool I’ve downloaded 1080p in my 4k monitor for saving my time and PC life and gaming performance and internet so will that be a problem
The song picking and transitions helped me out a lot thanks!
amazing video, cant wait to increase my knowledge with this video
Can someone put together all the times the audience interrupts? It’s hilarious!
@ 41:05 be sure to not split any already interleaved audio tracks (stereo) ex. Like a song.. I say this because it is meant to use the entire 180 degrees of sound field to interact with the listener. Ex. Low Bass is usually at the center while mids and higher elements frequency wise tend to be placed on the sides of the imaging spectrum. “Stacking” two mono tracks on top of each other or using one as left and right will cause unintentional stereo imaging effects. Phase aligned or not. Hope this helps! Thanks for the amazing video and keep up editing the great content.
4 hour video editing tutorial from the macro king of LTT. I don’t know anything about video editing but hopefully I’ll come back here some day
I get a student discount on creative cloud, so it’s plenty affordable for me.
I’m disappointed he couldn’t make this video 54 seconds longer
There are always those annoying idiots at tech talks. They should stop using computer and improve their social skills a little bit.
I think the audience added some good comic-relief 46:28
People are awesome.
Great talk. Good stuff.
Why am I watching a 4hr tutorial on editing… I don’t even edit!
i am at the 49min, im doing pretty good so far. i paused many times
I liked the lecture, but when you say emacs is opensource( 22:18), its an insult of the creator (RMS) who is fighting for software freedom, emacs is a free software and not to be called opensource, free as in freedom.
What an amazing video! Love the Tipps!!! Just started out making videos and you guys are soooooooooooooo inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing <3
why am i unable to stop watching? i don’t even make videos of any kind, I don’t even have pirated!Premiere
I have little to no use for most of this information (save for the macro stuff I think thats really useful) and I fully intend on watching every minute of this, if not to use it myself one day, to ensure this vast amount of free education is heard and valued
@Taran Van Hemert
Will this Premiere Pro Tutorial be any help in Adobe Premiere CC 2020?
Made it through in basically one sitting. I love watching a workflow type video, it’s great to just see how my workflow compares, what can be improved, etc. I also jump quite a bit between JKL and ‘home row’ so switching those keys makes a lot of sense.
When he said Do Not Watch This Video On cell Phone
I Seriously immediately Close this video
Great job on the video! Is this the level editor made by Brainware?
I’d be happy if you could make also for the Build engine level editor:)
Fucking censor this
Best comment I’ve ever seen on a script XD
Big fan of yours after watching the Editing Duel with iJustine!!
so What Video Editing Software Do you Recommend Thats Free and has No WaterMarks
A great example on how powerful the audience can be to ruin an absolute brilliant presentation. If I get a chance to time travel, I want to go back and kick the asses of those audiences there who were so annoying. If the present has given this presentation in the past, I would love to see it.
So I am using the Mouseclickdrag in this maco to drag a preset to my timeline, but it constantly brings up Properties of the Preset, instead of applying the preset. I cant figure it out.. help?
Eventually, he’ll be able to edit in his sleep during his dreams and pump out videos like nothing.
Next video is a tutorial on how to edit the really long editing tutorial
when a yt channel is soo annoying that the stills of it render this tutorial unusable.
Do you wanna hear some real bs from the audience?
Here you go…
58:02
29:04…. seriously -. was that really funny!? why you are doing this to yourself?
DiVinci resolve: hold my free editing software which is better than premiere Pro.
“Jay, is this a question about a Emacs?”
“Yes!”
Goes on to rant endlessly about how he discovered Node in 2014
I started my channel a couple of months ago and as a N00B editor I went with Davinci Resolve. While it is very overwhelming at first with all its features, it has been a lot of fun learning new techniques everyday to improve on the quality of my videos. Great Video Sam, keep it up:)
morrowind? thats the main game that comes to mind when i think of questionable spells
I can see that this man is crying inside but laughing outside
Great job
Ah, yes, 3D level editing…
Makes me wish there were more level editors like this one that used similar logic.
Most 3D level editors use pre-defined pieces, and that’s fine, for most…
i started making videos beacuse of him. thanks @jralli. he is really awesome.
Dumb fucking hecklers, they need to be smacked upside the head and shown the door.
Couldn’t you just put 2 cubes at the extremes outside of what you already built? I bet that DLE just takes the maximum and minimum values for X, Y and Z coordinates to center the map.
Reminds me of AutoSketch 2, where you could copy objects into memory, but upon pasting the objects, they were attached to your cursor on their minimum X and Y points. To solve it, you would draw a rectangle on the grid around the object(s), then copy everything including the rectangle, paste and erase the rectangle. (It didn’t need to be a rectangle, of course, a line to a point on the grid but at minimal X, Y values would suffice.)
If you ever need fuel for your channel you should grab the 1/2tb geocities dump by archive.org, holy shit I tried to go through what was in it some years ago and it would probably take a lifetime. Keep up the good work, always interesting to see what you find.
Use SeaMonkey you never have to leave it except to use emacs.
( 2:52) Incapable of horizontal movement in Doom? Define “horizontal” in the context of Doom level rendering, please.
( 13:06) Interesting. I’m assuming you tried loading a pre-existing Descent level in which a robot drops a red key, and seeing how the game accounted for this.
( 15:03) Wow that screen looks rough, though that could be due to differences in emulation, i.e. DOSBox vs D1X-Rebirth.
( 15:57) You mean switches, like when the player passes through a certain point and a nearby door/s opens (typically behind, or to both sides of the player) revealing robots poised to attack? Or do you mean switches other than the hidden door triggers I’ve described from Descent 1?
( 16:22) An interesting theory. You could test it by duplicating your existing level and setting the missing to play both levels in theory, it should render the tunnel escape sequence in the first level, and fade out in the second.
One final question, does the escape tunnel have to be a specific length for the escape sequence to be rendered (obviously, it would look pretty odd if the tunnel is too short)? Will the level editor’s diagnostic mode correct it if it needs to be longer/shorter?
thank you so much Taran. I really appreciated your time and work that you put to make this video.
Can we have the same conference WITHOUT the audience? (kill-audience-mode)
Just came over from the “H” Channel
I’m fairly “new” to Video Editing.
I don’t have much experience with those apps other than Hit Film and Resolve.
I agree with your break down across the board.
I’m not a fan of “subscription cloud based apps”.
I don’t like where Adobe has gone with their direction.
As a musician, first I’m not really interested in Roland Cloud based VSTs either.
Same reason.
Ha! I was right!!!
Back in the day I actually dipped my toes into the waters of Descent level editing myself. That‘s how I know the levels were made out of cubes. I used Devil back then, but never completed anything.
I created a level for Descent, too, back in the days with the DOS Editor. I invested hours just to get the lighting and the textures right. But to see your own creation in action as you wanted it to be was absolutely awesome:)
Also it was possible to create corridors which go through other corridors, like some kind of interdimensional corridors.
Ugh. Like most of the others I must say the audience kills this video. Did they drink a lot before the talk or are they just… I suspect they are not drunk. ghah. I’m a emacs (re)starter, and was really looking forward to an hour filled with emacs wonderings, ideas, hints and real life experience, but I could not stand it. Stopped at 7 mins and some seconds. (And I’m a former restaurant-owner and should be hardened to drunks idiots, but this was too much.) If this is what emacs does to people, I’ll stick with nano.:-) And now onto something completely different…Cheers! Bye.
“You need an SSD to edit off of, mechanical drives are too slow.”
Me: looks at the 360 video I work with; a 3 minute clip is upwards of 12 gigs. Looks at SSD prices. Dies on the inside. x.x
Fun topic, I was a DOS kid myself, but if you’ve never played the Mac version go listen to the soundtrack:). Awesome information on the portal rendering system, I had assumed it was bsp myself.
1. Idiot taking photos.
2. Irrelevant question.
3. Stupid remark.
4. Annoying laughing.
I just feel related and your videos make me so happy, positive. I appreciate it!
Is there a style that has cool effects and basic transitions but keeps the storyline going, and makes it interesting with their own twist… what’s that called because i would really like to know
Hurry guys!! Visit my channel to check the how to edit videos easily!!
Sir, Name the font you used in thamnail of this video please?
Does anyone mind explaining to me the joke he makes about the NetBSD boot loader at 19:28? I don’t seem to get it.
I wish there were not too many interruptions for the speaker.. that would have made the presentation smoother
Thanks for sharing!
whoa!!! So much great information in here! I just started posting to my channel this month and this is the content that helps new youtubers like me!
If you want something fun to do, hold the red line, then drag it fast to the end. Thank me later
Would love to find a version of this talk without all the rude chatter from the peanut gallery. I’ve been trying to make time to make an Emacs Meetup session, but after hearing this crowd in action, my enthusiasm to attend one is significantly dampened.
“and before I say his name, let’s see his work” (inserts every transition from every pack ever).
I make awful and boring videos. I desperately need tips like these.
i once had a dream when i was editing a combo video, where i cut the music and put 2 clips together. I woke up did it, and it looked like crap. However, through that i found a clip that looked absolutely amazing.
I am late to seeing this video!! What is a good, easy to use editing software for the mac? Any recommendations? LOVE your channel!!
Wow, now we know why OTHER talks are dry and boring, because judging by the comment pendants, that’s what they’re used to; dry and boring, which this talk is ANYTHING BUT, including the audience, which I found amusing and fun loving.
Chill out friends, life’s more fun when you’re HAVING FUN
Newbie here! Sub to my channel and I will sub back! Just comment Done! Let’s help each other grow!
I know people that use VI. The only reason people use Emacs and VI or any of those archaic applications is because they used them when there weren’t many options. When you’ve invested all that time into learning something you don’t want to give it up to use something easier. To use Emacs and VI today is just dumb. There is no reason to use that crap unless you like making your life harder.
Have u made a new one o Chris and should I watch the old one before the new one?
and YASSS…. TAKING A BREAK….
I SHOULD TAKE A BREAK @!!!
its been two days something already.. gudness!
I use OpenShot Video Editor to create my YouTube vids and to create clips for both YouTube and Twitter. I find that it has what I need and there are plenty of tutorials for it. It also has Blender plug in for 3D titles
For the better extension language guile-emacs might be a good step forward: Guile is already multi-language and each language can use functionality written in the other languages.
i’m very like your Intro, so how can i find your intro templates? its very nice
Thanks
do you know how to make a frame change in to the other one? like in the glitchy type of way
These are really useful for new youtubers like me I definately try to use them
I really love this video.. Editing tips.. New youtuber here..
Chris you didn’t write in description those websites for video techniques. You went so fast while mentioning them.
Hi I’m new to this hope you cna help with some tips to fix my channel..
I need to know where could i buy that wall design on this video
Super informative video! What is your favorite video editing software to use?
Christ, I read the comments about the audience but didn’t realize how fucking annoying they are.
This is probably the best Video ever seen on YouTube in my entire life. Awesome content for learning, very nice sound setup and a person with much intelligence. Thank you very much ❤️

Has anyone reading switched from vi/vim to emacs? I’m interested in emacs, but I can’t imagine not having the vim key bindings. I’ve seen emacs evil mode, which looks like it might be a good option.
i know his channel all the videos looks sick…..damn he is good.
Great video!! The cube-with-portals approach is very interesting although I would try to make it work with prisms. That way you wouldn’t have to worry about “deformed squares”.
I don’t get why people think it’s a great talk. There was nothing new in it, and everything interesting (the part about future improvements) could be presented in 10 mins.
For everyone that want’s this talk without the crowd you can watch Perry’s updated version here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYcY7CcS7nc
unwatchable for me with this audience interrupting the speaker all the time.
hopefully my future coworkers wont be that unbearable
42:36 that is most definitely not a symmetrical keyboard layout for the modifier keys. See how ‘D’ where you middle finger rests is directly above the split between Command and the sapcebar? Now look at ‘K’ where your other middle finger rests. That’s exactly one whole key to the left of the split between the spacebar and the right Command key. It is not symmetrical. Now look at the Lenovo ThinkPad keyboards. Now those are actually symmetrical.
It is Scientifically Proven that the Earth is an Irregular Plane (Irregular refers to the Lands, which have elevation and deviation. Plane refers to the Standing Bodies of Water, which are always level), which is created because of Intent, Intelligent Design. Here’s why:
First of all, remember that Science DOES NOT belong to any institution. It DOES NOT belong to a particular group or person. It belongs to every single human being alive, who wants to know the truth, nothing but the truth. The ones searching for truths according to the type of the claim (Whether we’re dealing with Social Science, or Formal Science, or Natural Science) become Scientists. People searching for truths also become Realists (Truth Seekers). Science means exploring the inner and outer surroundings of ourselves. Scientific Proofs are truths, real truths.
There are three different types of Sciences:
A) Natural Science
B) Formal Science
C) Social Science
Social Science deals with people and their behaviours. Formal Science deals with Mathematics and it’s assumptions (For example, -1+2=1, according to Maths, but this does NOT apply to real life, Mathematics is a language, which means that we can create anything and make it mathematically correct, but that means NOTHING in real life) Natural Science deals with Objective Reality (The immediate reality). If someone claims that something exist in the Objective World, OTRMDPPs are needed for that claim to be Scientifically Proven. OTRMDPPs means Observable, Testable, Repeatable, Measurable, Demonstrable, Practical Proofs which MUST be verifiable by every single human being alive. Without OTRMDPPs, the claimed thing is considered pseudoscience, or a belief.
I now shall ask the question “What is the shape of the earth we stand upon?” and then immediately proceed to look for OTRMDPPs. I found out that some lands are elevated (Mountains), some lands are deviated, some lands are level. We can then conclude that the lands are Irregular in shape, which means not all lands are elevated, not all lands are deviated.
The next OTRMDPP is Water. Water is abundant. It is the second most important thing for human beings to survive (number one being air), which means that every single human being that is alive has access to it. The bodies of water are largely found in Oceans. I then found out that the bodies of water need a Container to stay still (stand). If there isn’t a container, I found out that they will flow until they find the lowest point to stand upon. Bodies of water stand, if there is a container, which means we can call them Standing Bodies of Water. I then found out that Standing Bodies of Water are Level (Which means no elevation or deviation from the starting point to the end). If not messed with in any way (for example the air pushing the water), Standing Bodies of Water are also perfectly still.
I then tried to mess around with the substance, it seems that as soon as I poured some of the water on my palm, most of it flowed into the lowest point immediately, only some stayed at the center of my hand, but that also didn’t last long. So, I tried to pour some water on a surface, that didn’t worked either, they started to flow, again. I then tried to pour some water in a completely sealed rectangle shaped container, this did the trick. The water then starting to fill up the container until the very top. If I pour any more water, it will flow away, because the container is filled to the brim.
I then measured it to see if it was perfectly level, and to my surprise, it was perfectly level without any deviation or elevation. Obviously water is the MOST perfect tool we got to make something level. Also, if the container was a rectangle, the water inside will take the shape of the container, but it will still remain level.
I then got a little curious and thought about what other shapes I could use, I then got the idea to use a sphere. I started to pour the water onto the sphere, not expecting anything, but then the water flowed off from the sphere immediately to the lowest point, that tells me that Water DOES NOT conform to exterior of shapes.
With the help of OTRMDPPs, I have concluded that the Earth is an Irregular Plane.
I will then ask another question “Did something create this world?”. After searching for OTRMDPPs, I found that anything, be it dirt, or water, or rock, can’t be created from thin air. No matter what I did, nothing popped out of thin air, not even randomly. With the help of OTRMDPPs, I concluded that this world has been created by Intelligent Design. There is absolutely no other option. Also, this world, the entirety of it, is infinite. OTRMDPPs prove that. Because if there’s a starting point and an end point, what created the starting point and end point? Then what created the one which created the starting point and end point? It’s infinite regress. Only logical solution is infinite. Sure, our lives, the physical world may have a certian finite feature, but the whole thing, the primer mover, has got to be infinite, eternal.
Now I had some curious questions, “What about the sky? What about the two light things that move in the sky? What about those tiny little lights that move in the sky at night?”
Before we go any further, I want you to remember about two more different things when it comes to the Objective World, the Intangible and the Tangible.
Intangible are those objects which are not in our immediate reality. For example, If I see a goat in a distance, I cannot touch it. I first have to go to it’s physical location.
Tangible are those objects which are available in our immediate reality. For example, I am typing this article on my iPad, which means that I can touch it, I can observe it in full 3D. I can rotate it around completely to touch and see the whole shape. I can also interact with it.
The sky is Intangible. The Moon is Intangible. The Sun is Intangible. The Stars are Intangible. OTRMDPPs are NOT available. Even if I fly up as far as I can, if I say to people I can touch the sky, that would be a belief. Every single capable human being should be able to reach the sky and OTRMD with Practical Proofs the things in the sky in full 3D, if not, we do not know what those objects are in the sky, and trying to come up with ideas about what those might be are nothing but assumptions, ideas, beliefs. We live ON Earth, not IN the sky.
Now, OTRMDPPs tell us that because this world contains Air Pressure, there is no other way, this world is CONTAINED. OTRMDPPs tell us that this world is CONTAINED in SOME way, we do not know the shape of the container. But without a container, Air Pressure is literally impossible, I’m afraid.
TV Screens, heresy, white coat guys talking nonsensical mathematical equations are NOTHING but beliefs and mental thoughts, TV Screens are NEVER going to be concluded as Scientific Proofs, the things shown in the TV Screens are 2D. NOT PHYSICAL.
Last but not the least, one last question “Why are things falling downwards?” Well, the way things fall has NOTHING to do with the shape of the earth. “But Gravity!” What is “Gravity”? A magical pulling force which allows some things to fly and pulls down some things to make them fall? Can two objects come closer without some sort of push? “Yes, in space” ARE YOU THIS STUPID? We live right NOW, on EARTH, not in some magical fantasy land! In order for two objects to come closer, I either have to push one object to the other from the front, or push the second object from it’s back to the front. Motion is ONLY created if something presses something else. Pull is just a term for push. Things that weigh less than air fall down, things that weigh more than air float.
If you want to go deeper and ask why do things even have weight, we have to first explore the whole earth to get a good understanding.
“Why does it matter? I don’t care about the shape!” Well, I will address you an important question, “If the Earth is an Irregular Plane, why are these governments lying?” They’re lying because they don’t want people to explore the world and find out what’s out there. They gave us a 2D map, they’re showing the map everywhere, literally everywhere, and people are accepting the map WITHOUT exploring the world! We are trusting the government as if those corrupted psychopaths are our dads! Without exploring the world to it’s full extent, you will NEVER know the reason for your existence, do you like being imposed by strangers? if you didn’t know already, there are a lot of restricted places you can’t go. There are treaties that are signed and agreed by almost ALL countries, I wonder why all the governments are agreeing about a lot of things… because all the governments are CONNECTED.
They are DISTRACTING people, talking about war, about social media, about every OTHER thing EXCEPT talking about exploring.
If we have the truths about our existence, about what created this, about the whole place, we do NOT need religions, philosophies, beliefs. Just think about it properly. The majority of people are in debts, some are poor, and some are incredibly and suspiciously rich… then HOW IS THIS A GOOD SYSTEM IF THE MAJORITY ARE NOT ABLE TO LIVE FREELY WITH BASIC NEEDS? The government is imposing it’s subjective version of what’s good and what’s bad on the people and they’re accepting it? You don’t want equality, compassion, love, respect? If a person kidnapped ten people and he’s telling them to do things without their consent, he automatically becomes a criminal. What’s the government doing? BOTH ARE DOING THE EXACT SAME THING, IMPOSING!
But, of course, if you have OTRMDPPs that contradict reality, please feel free to share it with me. Thank you for reading this article. I hope I articulated the OTRMDPPs properly, but if you still have any doubts, please feel free to email me at MysteriousPlane@ pm.me. Please remember that personalities have nothing to do with Objective Reality.
I’m so grateful for this perfect video I learned a lot thank you so much keep going
We are all with you your doing so good
Fighting
Will do this. Thanks for tips. Hope you can visit my channel and suggest some ways to improve my work.
I use PowerDirector as a good midrange video editor and still having fun discovering different things I can do.
I sold Freemacs on floppy disks to people for years. Of course, that was just a distribution service. Anybody who wants to use it now can just download it. And it comes with FreeDOS.
WTF those people. Thanks for the interesting talk despite the ill-mannered fuckers who didn’t stfu.
this is really cool. I grew up on Descent I and II, and never knew there was a level editor. I miss these late 90s 3D aesthetics.
44:12 That keyboard is the stuff of dreams!
44:30 LOL PREACH BRETHREN
for anybody who is discouraged by the comments about the audience: watch the video with double playback speed and the appropriate sound level, the guy with the mic always wins and the interruptions are short and inaudible so that you easily can follow the talk
edit: there is a chrome extension called ‘Video Speed Controller’ which simplifies the process of scrubbing through audio/video efficiently with keyboard (jumping forward/backward by some specified amount of seconds, decrease/increase speed, jump to last speed and undo and so on…
So you edit a 10 minute long video in 4 hours?
What about a 4 hour video?
Yes, I remember using an ASR-33 teletype to talk to a PDP-8. We’re OLD, Perry.
The few obnoxious talkers in the audience make this almost unwatchable.
Which so much hate on Adobe? I only use Pr, Ae and Ps and they go so well together
Has anyone else noticed the woman highkey loading up a bow and arrow in the background RIP
There’s always that one guy! I’m getting irritated just by watching a recorded video! How was the presenter so calm?
Uh, we have to think quite a bit to decide what to write and kick it around at ideational and embodied in code forms a lot. In some domains we are employed in UX stuff is very important of course.
Replacing elisp with a stronger lisp and providing for multiple threads would make this editor I dearly love even better.
Had to stop watching at 1:07. The big-B.S.-talkers in the audience are unbearable… i am sorry for Mr Metzger.
emacs v vi?..
Two different philosophies to do partially the same…
Thanks Sam, this video is fantastic. Is there any way you can go further in depth on third party plug ins for Final Cut Pro sometime? Or is that more of something I should ask in your discord?
I use HitFilm Express because it was free and it work’s fine for me. It’s hard finding something good and cheap at the same time.
-StrawHatNicks
I started using Emacs ten years ago, I’m addicted now, I can’t stop writing elisp functions. There is no hope for me ;-).
Thanks for a great video! How does Camtasia compare to Da Vinci Resolve?
I will watch this till very end, just to check if the speaker guns down the audience…
Your AHK scripts look fantastic but when i tried using some of your AHK files (from your link http://github.com/TaranVH/2nd-keyboard) none of them work, each one gives some errors and exits. BTW.. I have Auto hot keys installed in my PC and i’m running Premiere Pro cc2018. Is there anything that I am missing? How can i make the ahk files work smoothly?
What are some other video editing secrets? Also don’t forget to head over to JR’s channel to see our collab!:)
I didn’t have quite as much problem with the crowd as others. But yeah. It was a little obnoxious at times. Other times it just felt like people were jovial in a way that didn’t sit right with the speaker, and so rather than bounce of each other it brought in a tension. It is kinda indicative that the man directly told an audience member to shut the fuck up, and the guy is literally shouting across him like less than 10 seconds later.
With the “ripple delete at playhead” around 29 minutes. Is there a way to ripple delete the clip to the left of the playhead? For instance.. If I’m watching through the timeline, and I make two cuts. Instead of having to select the cut THEN ripple delete. I would like to be able to just ripple delete the cut I just made
Did you add a tex file for your level? I think that is needed for the exit ‘animation’ to work.
so when you had the camera moving to the side of the laptop. Did you make the footage bigger and keyframe it or did you slide the camera across something to have it look like that.
Dude, when you start talking about the music or how you should find and plan for it, i was like, “BROOO THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT I DO!!! OMFG!!!” and i feel so happy that i was doing it naturally even before i watched this and it seems like a really small thing but i already feel so proud ❤ But over all, this video was so helpful and inspirational and i am also 19 as i type this. You guys are so dope!
Audience destroyed this presentation. Since college I can always see a bad audience coming: self-interested, full of shit and neurotic.
what app do you guys use? can like anybody tell me the best app for editing?
How do you call that Polaroid trick? Where did you use it your vids, I would love to see it in action, not just in a fraction of a sec:)
Awesome, very interesting. Never even thought of editing for Descent. Would love to give it a go now.
2:45 iMovie
4:40: Hitfilm Express
7:48: Davinci Resolve
10:20: Adobe Premiere Pro
12:43: Final Cut Pro
15:07: Conclusion
This guy talks to his coworkers like dirt. And is a little too high on himself. Definitely not the world’s most advanced tutorial. With the exception of his macros (which, with the exception of a few, are completely unnecessary), most of this is what I would consider a basic editing workflow. 6/10
Literally had to give up at the 20:00 minute mark, the audience is so rude.
I found the crowd pretty funny actually. You can tell that these people have been hanging out for a long time. I feel like this is a video of them chillin like they’ve done for years that just happened to be filmed and put on YouTube.
I’m feeling sorry to the speaker. It’s an interesting and nice talk by the way.
Yo Sam, what about premiere elements (no sub)? or some funnier stuff like pinaccle studio? I think most people want to use this like photoshop. Just couple of tool that can make 90% of stuff we need 😉
“and a USB port”
Another audience member ruins an interesting talk.
This was an excellent talk. Exhausting audience, well done for keeping pretty calm:P
Great speech. If I can programming I would join them with developing new Lisp for Emacs. I’m so excited with that idea!!!
So he made a 4 hour vid then edited the 4 hour vid. What a legend
Nice Video clip! Apologies for the intrusion, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you tried Piyason Videographic Ventures (should be on google have a look)? It is a good exclusive product for creating your own viral video minus the headache. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my mate at last got amazing results with it.
This tutorial is amazing, you should make another one. I wish there were Photoshop and after effects tutorials like this.
sadly, this is almost unwatchable with all the interruptions!
SHEESH People! Open mic comedy hour is down the street!
Let the guy talk! and stop interrupting!
You didn’t mention that you can have rooms touch each othear or go through each other without being connected. This allows to make levels in non euclidean geometry that wouldn’t be possible in more traditional 3D level editors.
Oh. That intro video kept me from watching the video any further. Try a better one.
There is only 2 genius i show on YouTube…. 1. Jason Levin 2.This Guy
Commentators commenting the audience ruining a good presentation ruin a good discussion:P
Wow fuck this video, there is far too much stuttering and too many god damn interruptions
I use a program called olive. It is free and has chroma key, titles and all of that stuff for free.
OK…FIRST LET ME CLARIFY ONE THING…I will NEVER NEVER NEVER USE ALL THIS INFORMATION SOOO IT IS USELESS TO ME.!!! WITH THAT OUT OF THE WAY LET ME SAY THIS….CONGRATULATIONS ON A JOB WELL DONE!!! IF EVERYBODY WOULD BE SO KNOWLEDGEABLE, PASSIONATE AND PROFISSIONAL, THE WORLD WOULD BE A MUCH MUCH MUCH BETTER PLACE!!! GOD BLESS YOU SIR!!!
Respond to rant about not being able to search with regexp in chrome: You can.
Using cVim extension, yes, but it works pretty well.
So as a PC user I already have DaVinci Resolve. Glad to know I have the best resource available to me!
He had to recording himself editing this then edit the video about how to edit
@Perry Metzger Note sure if large companies would be willing to create a customized keyboard, but the two manufacturers that do come to mind are Kinesis and Maltron. Both make ergonomic keyboards, use Cherry’s MX key switches/components, and neither is cheap, especially Maltron. I think niche keyboard makers might be more enticed than others to consider making the Space Cadet keyboard, given enough demand.
Edit: Found out that Maltron’s website has it that they are open to making custom keyboards:
http://www.maltron.com/component/content/article/214-keyboard-information/465-bespoke-projects
What software was used to embed the slides into the video. Done well.
This is awesome! I am just getting started and this was very helpful! Thanks Sam:)
To get Exit cutscenes you need a TXB or TEX file in your HOG file, with the same name of your level. TXB are encrypted text scripts configuring angle of exit, background (PCX) and textures (BBM=Amiga IFF Bitmap) to use for the cutscene. You can also simply take the TXB files from the DESCENT.HOG, and try and error the angle (it is possible that the sidenumber (1-6) of the exit matters for the angle too (or only matters?)).
TXB Files are also used for briefings, same encryption, but different script.
What a childish and annoying audience. I gave up trying to follow the presentation after 10 minutes.
I was taking a drink when I heard, “is it just mental illness? No, it’s not JUST mental illness,” and I almost spit it out.
much love to the both of you Hau and Alli…
an advice that just woke me up like a flat screen monitor slapped to my psyche kind-of-advice advice (tips)…
the one that is about…. edit at least 10 seconds of the project every day… indeed is the answer to that very petrifying stagnation of lacking forward progress.
Give the edit space to breathe, give the edit feeling! WOW great stuff! Just changed the intro of on of my films because of that line! To much dialog it needed some room to breath.
I use to use the 4 bay lexar card reader. Now I use all Sony UHS 2 cards and the dual Prograde UHS 2 3.1 gen 2 card reader. It has cut my transfer time in half with everything being UHS 2.
