https://foodfacts.mercola.com/tomatoes.html Now, I am totally confused.
So what the hell do we eat? Dirt? I’ve already cut meat out of my diet…And I hear dairy is bad also…So what do I eat….air?
For people allergic to night shades here are some nightshade substitutes https://youtu.be/oIO97dLtOCs
Makes me sad for people wiyh allergy to nightshade. I worked with a girl and watched her breakout with welts on her hands from touching raw sliced tomato, but she said cooked tomato wouldnt do that.
You actually sound like you may have gluten sensitivity. Those are the same symptoms.
Yesterday i eat a small amount of tomato, and straight ahead triggered my immune system..after 2 hours, i had flue and difficulty in breathing..smmh
Most conventional dietary advice is based on low quality observational studies. Why are dieticians still promoting carbs for people with t2D?
I can eat anything and the only thing that makes me feel like this is cheap booze
If you eliminate night shades, how long before you should see improvements?A week? 2 weeks? month? Help?
I suffer from HS and Ive been reading articles that ask you to cut out almost eveything from your diet from milk cheese to vegetables and wheat and sugar. It seems not only ridiculous but impossible. Where do you start from??
The Doctor on the video don’t anticipate the falling hair on how to cure.
It’s made a noticeable difference for me. I think I always knew, but turned a blind eye to the symptoms because I love my childhood foods,Eggplant makes me itch and throat close. I can’t digest spaghetti sauce, etc, etc. Joints always swollen and feel achy.
Also tired a lot. If this is you, it’s worth a try. You’re literally eating poison. I think it affects people of European descent.
Night shades give me horrible acid reflux. Sucks cause i love me some taters and tomaters.
I quit nightshades when I was starting my leaky gut journey, and it’s definitely had noticeable results. For me, having psoriasis (autoimmune), part of healing was to change my diet to help my tight junctions in the intestinal wall close back to the 5 micron level, rather than 500 microns. Also very influenced by cortisol from stress.
Thanks for posting these, btw. I think that within the next 3-5 years it’ll be common knowledge about the gut microbiome being integral to a lot of AI “diseases”, mental health and general wellbeing.
“The literature does not show that it makes any difference….” Does it specifically show/prove that they are fine for everyone? Or does it just not show anything at all?
Can somebody please explain to me why cooking tomatoes lowers Vitamin C but massively boosts lycopene? Same thing with cooking carrots I think? Like what is the mechanism that is occurring?
Spend the extra money and buy sweet potatoes instead!!! One way or another you’re gonna pay……either now or later. DR. Gregor nailed it, if you are sick cut out ALL possible foods which have been known to cause problems in many people, then after you get better start to introduce one food at a time very slowly
Can cause arthritis pain etc but is a super healthy food lol. Wow.. Brain dead..
Interesting about blueberries, maybe that’s why I have eczema and psoriasis even though I have no nightshades or grains apart from rice. Have them every day too, thanks for the info!
I agree with everything except curry.main ingredient in curry is turmeric, which everyone knows is the best anti inflammatory in the world.
FACT: Dr Norman Walker proved that drinking cold pressed organic spinach juice every day for 4 months will heal the inside of your body and then begin to heal your skin/hair/nails. I have been drinking 400g of cold pressed organic spinach juice and it’s helped me.
What if there are gangs who graft nightshade root stocks on peppers and others, then give them to neighbors.
Love your last few words!
“Instead of getting rid of the food I’d like you to heal the body.” So many physicians, nutritionists will fail to look into why your body is having it’s issues and going from there to fix it. Thank you..
Would nightshades cause breakouts? I’ve been vegan for a few months now (5mo) and still break out. I’m increasing my water intake which helps and now I’m weaning myself off processed foods and moving toward a more whole food plant based diet. I hope that helps, cause it’s super annoying
I am so glad that I saw your video. I have been suffering from stiffness, pain and had most of the symptoms. Thank you so much for all those helpful tips on nightshade foods
Of I did that I’d starve to death! There’d be nothing left to eat
Great info from Dr.Greger, although it must be said he would not value being linked next to the raw food site you linked, which isn’t in-line with the science on soy, iodine, cruciferous veg, beans, etc.
I noticed onions and nightshades tear my stomach up, gave me alopcia areata for 6 months before I cut them out and noticed a big difference. Have hair regrowth now
Okra is not a nightshade it is in the malvaceae family same as durian
People have been trying alot of fad diets lately. I want to see someone try the all-nightshade diet.
Every since I started eating French fries again, I have felt horrible!! Incredible headaches, anxiety, and all over pain. Is it from that
Dr Gundry said if you peel and deseed your tomatoes, cucumbers etc they are ok for consumption. Pressure cooking your beans. Lentils and legumes which will eliminate lectins
Thanks for sharing. I myself looked into the nightshades family and discovered that there are more than 2700 species.:-((
I also have a hypothesis on why we might think we like nightshades.
Probably as a child we were forced to eat them and then our body create tolerance for these toxic from these “foods” but not without damage.
Most of the migraine stuff you mentioned I was able to get rid of. Check for scented candles, fragrances, also if you have eaten nightshades in combination with other foods that are safe for you. Your body could Lable these safe foods and toxic and cause you to react.
Optimize your mineral intake and see how far you come.
I discontinued eating tomatoes and I No longer get heartburn at night
I was an everything eating vegan for 2 years feeling great. Then I began to read horror stories about gluten, lectins, nightshades, phytic acid, avinin, soy, etc. and tried to avoid tons of food which made my health deteriorate and made me lose too much weight. Now I am eating potatoes, oat meals, lentils and pasta again and its getting better day by day.
If you have thyroid disease you should look into iodine supplements, research iodine it balances your thyroid. And no you don’t get iodine from table salt that is a farce. In fact table salt is fake you shouldn’t even be consuming it! It will give you high blood pressure. You should be using pink Himalayan salt, this has 84 minerals and I believe it even carries iodine naturally. government has eliminated iodine from Foods, so that we will have thyroid problems and breast cancer. Look into it! research it! Remember your government and big Pharma wants to make you sick and kill you! I cured my own thyroid problem by eating correctly and using iodine supplements. I used to have an underactive thyroid, I no longer have to take medication for it..
meanwhile i am eating so much of those, and nothing happens.
Yet Mcdougall tells people with RA to live on potatoes? So much conflicting videos on tube.
dr oz did an episode on these. he had another dr talk about this. the doctor also mentioned not eating peanuts, whole wheat bread, and anything that naturally comes from the continent of the americas. he said to eat sour dough bread. i bought some and it was harder and went moldy fast
sounds like a load of shit. 1 in 20 people probably get placebo’d
I thought okra and artichoke aren’t officially nightshade plants??
I have not eaten tomatoes for possibly 4 months. Yesterday I noticed how a lot of the physical pain I’ve had 4 years is going away. I had sun-dried tomatoes in a package yesterday evening. I woke up with a lot of pain throughout my body right after I finished eating the packaged tomatoes and it was only only 11 in the morning. I’m exhausted and I have so much pain. I’m taking a nap. This is really strange for me. My girlfriend told me it’s a nightshade vegetable. I didn’t know what the hell that is and I found this awesome video.
Just wanted to say that in the beginning of the video it stated okra, sorrel, and gooseberries are nightshades but that is actually not true. The okra belongs to the mallow family and it’s related to hibiscus and cotton. Sorrel belongs to the Polygonaceae family and gooseberries belong to the Grossulariaceae family.
Thanks. Just heard about this today, will try to see if it helps my hand issues.
Sorrel is not a nightshade plant, it belongs to the Polygonaceae family like knotweed and buckwheat
My doctors have definitely told me to stay off of the nightshades. They are anything that grows on a vine.
Belladonna is still used in medicines today. One is called Donatal. It is sometimes given for stomach cramps.
I have more than one autoimmune disorder. Anyone with bad joints, migraines, seizures, and general aches and pains should avoid nightshade species.
And I do have all of those symptoms.
The lectins in nightshade plants could be doing damage even when you don’t know it. Some doctors are saying inflammation is at the root of heart disease so where does the inflammation come from. Your 1st symptom could be a hear attack.
Thank you for your video it was very helpful. I watched a number of other videos on nightshade’s and they didn’t have the information that you had, even a doctors video. I like to say that patients make the best doctors.
What you refer to as solid science is paid for shillery at best. The wisdom of old leaves the best clues for those not subject to the wiles of incorporate unconcious media programming. Nightshades specifically affect the hippocampus function negatively. Pretty much 92 percent of the world.
I never miss your videos. Always a great summary of all the science!
I remember when I was told I had adhd, the psychologist told me to avoid nightshade vegetables. I really didn’t think much of it because I was in a bit of a shock when I was given my diagnosis. He told him it causes inflammation in the brain. I still have potatoes and tomatoes but I am allergic to tomatoe grapes so I don’t eat those. Lately I’ve been wanting to find out if I have a sensitivity to other types of tomatoes. Gluten isn’t good for me, neither dairy. I’m getting tired of having to eliminate food! If I have to eliminate tomatoes then that means no pizza and pasta and tacos and nachos and dishes where I use them
Wow, I’m the first to make a comment on your video. I don’t know whether to comment on your Nightshade or to comments on…….
Im not sure if I thought avoiding tomatoes and potatoes completely would add 5 years to my life I could do it as I love them too much.
I have to stay away from Eggplant but the others don’t bother me.
It is encouraging to know that I might be able to enjoy nightshades again, if I sort out my potential enzymatic deficiencies. I have three responses to eating nightshades: edeama in my ankles, bloating in my stomach, and an itchy rash around the circumference of my upper body namely a wide band that stretches from under my breasts to above my belly button. Would you classify this as upper GI? Also, which of your books do you think would be most beneficial for me?
