but I have a doubt. according to Lippincott’s biochemistry, NAD+ is converted to NADH when the oxidative deamination proceeds in the direction from Glutamate to alpha-ketoglutarate. as for NADPH, it is involved in the reverse reaction, when we have excess NH3 reacting with alpha-ketoglutarate (thus initiating the process reductive animation) and synthesizing glutamate.

I have a question, i just read Lehninger book sixth edition page 705 after wathing this video.. Your video really help me to understand how dificult biochemistry is…in Lenhinger book It shows that glutamate converted to ammonium in Mitochondrial matrix, but in this video shows that it happend in the liver, which is Amonia converted to Ammonium first then take to mitochondrial matrix…my question is where does the ammonia converted to ammonium exactly take place? In the citosol of liver cells or in Mithocondrial matrix…? Thank you so much…

1. They are not watching the full video.
2. They ignore how James literally stated multiple times how he produced the video because he hates meat, and dairy.
3. James admitted he has very little knowledge compared to Chris whom has a Master degree in nutrition.

It is harder to get optimal protein and amino acid profile from plant sources as compared to animal sources. This is irrefutable.
Duh. This is not something that can credibly argued against.
The question is “How hard is it to get optimal protein and amino acide profile from a plant based diet?” Is it is 10% harder, who cares? If it is 500% harder, it is a major issue.
In the United States, there are a lot of sick vegans out there. The ones who eat crap as long as it is plant based. Not good. Sugar, beer and a loaf of white bread are vegan. There are a alot of people who get healthier eating carnivore.
We also have alot of really obses people with high blood pressure and heart disease and diabetes. Most or all of these people do not or cannot track their diet very closely. But optimal protein intake isn’t their most important issue. It is too much bodyfat and the associated diseases.
Is vegan a healthier, lower calorie way of eating? If you eat carefully, yes. But there’s tons of vegans who do not ad do not look healthy.
Is eating meat ‘better”? Yes, it can be good. But there’s tons of fat diabetic people having strokes and heart attacks.
Eating vegan is not a panacea, a fountain of youth or the answer to all health or sports related questions.
Like any other diet, if followed properly, it is fine.

14:08 I really like his argument BUT he’s wrong on that specific point. Leucine is reduced virtually in all plant-based including (beans, rice, and vegetables) ingredients. So, 2g of protein/ kg it’s unsufficient. For example, eating 150g of lentils (39g protein) hit the LEU you need in order to promote sufficient MPS. It’s very hard to hit protein without supplementing on a plant-based diet optimized for building size, btw it’s possible.

James rocked it, I am lifting weights 5 days a week and went plant based over 10 months ago. Biggest changes so far is NO more joint problems!, lost stubborn body fat and definitely more cut now, I’m feeling more energy and less sluggish, I do have some fish mostly trout and supplement B12.
Ive done all diets.. the question is if being vegan is so great for you why did I feel so horrible on it and find it so difficult to stay healthy. It was such a constant battle to make sure I was getting what I needed not to feel brain fog and all these pain issues. Yet when I switched back to meat it took no effort and I finally felt like me again. Its not normal and natural to be vegan. I’m sorry but just because something can be done doesn’t mean its feasable for most people. Most people are morons who cant even spell feasable!

For health reasons I stopped eating meat, dairy, and oils almost three months ago. For the most part I do breathe better sometimes. Other than that I haven’t noticed any benefit besides losing just eight pounds. I’ve heard many testimonials of people who lose fifteen to thirty pounds a month once they switch. I’ve got twenty more pounds to go to be at a normal weight again. I thought I’d be there already. If the decrease continues at this rate I’ll make it within a year.

Using protein complementation (not always done properly, in practice, by most vegans) you can improve the eaa profile; but assuming it is optimal or equal to animal protein is another fallacy. There is usually still some limiting essential amino acid(s).
