Just avoid eating a lot of high carb foods when eating oils. Carbs make the fat calories absorb. Do put meat and nuts, fruits and cheese on, in addition to tasty veggies, and really enjoy a delicious salad. Salad shouldn’t taste like punishment.

We have an over abundance of oranges growing in our back yard and along with banana creatine and bcaa’ include MCT oil almost daily. Occasionally taking probiotics and flushing with baking soda and lemon in 12 oz of water first thing, Gym daily. I feel pretty good for 57 going on 58.

Spring mix is a major food group for me, I eat about a third of the big container almost daily. I LOVE IT. Try it with the tuna creations. I also add chopped mushrooms, onions, and I like avocado. Avocado is a great salad dressing. Also Parmesan cheese!!!

I love me a good Balsamic Vinegarette dressing. Ken’s Steak House has a delicious one. If I have a Southwest or Taco Salad, I like to top it with salsa and maybe some guacamole.
Bad choice of uncooked spinach. Spinach should always be cooked/steamed or it is less useful as many of the nutrients are locked up by oxalic acid which inhibits their absorption eg. iron, calcium, etc. If you still want it raw then lessen the spinach and replace it with lettuce or cabbage or other green which have lesser concentrations of oxalic acid. It is similar to the effect Phytic acid in nuts and seeds which is lessened by soaking in water. Other such anti nutrients are polyphenols and tanins.

Any salad dressing that’s under 50Kcal/serving= 2Tbs is ok, and 1 serving is more than enough for 2 cups of fresh vegetables it’s not gravy. Olive oil has practically no taste and is 100% fat. Add 70% vinegar and water plus seasonings INCLUDING a tiny bit of salt and sugar. 4. If it grows and is a plant that isn’t banned for human consumption, it’s ok to eat
RAW. 5. If you can’t stand a particular vegetable, then experimentbuy something new each (every) week. 5. Keep the percentages of fresh fruit. seeds and raw nuts in a salad to under 25, 10 and 10% respectively. These are nutritious but calorie-rich compared to leafy and stalk vegetables. (Tomatoes are fruit). 5. If you like a veggie cooked, try it raw.My salad dressing, 1-2-3. 3 tbsp olive oil, 2 tbsp red wine vinegar, 1 tbsp honey. You’re welcome.:)

IDK what the Hell Bob is talking about when he says that it’s been long proven that sodium intake elevates blood pressure. It’s been debunked. If you’re going to read Hyman’s claims and recommendations for his “Pegan” Diet, then you should also read Dr. James DiNicolantonio’s book titled, “The Salt Fix”. The chances are you’re consuming too little sodium and chloride, two nutrients our body needs. And what the hell is Brad talking about when he says you can really taste the vegetables in his salad? If vegetables tasted good, you wouldn’t need the dressing!
High fructose corn syrup is around 55% fructose and 45% glucose. Table sugar is 50% fructose and 50% glucose. Very similar. It’s just that HFCS is cheaper to produce (because we grow so much corn) that it ended up in so many products. Neither HFCS and sugar should be consumed in quantity.
I learned something from a tv show about those dressings. If you look at calories from fat protein and sugar. If the calories from fat is more than the protein and sugar don’t eat it cause it’s not lite or fat free.
Some of Dr. Hyman’s recommendations are way off base, including consuming extracted oils and “red meat”. Bob has the better book, “How Not to Die”, read that instead of Hyman’s book.

Plant based is the way to go skip the olive oil that is still just adding fat try using hummus even avocado which is a good fat or any oil free dressing
Avocados are a great source of healthy fat. 1.7 ounces is a proper serving. Mush them up with vinegar for a dressing. Have to be careful though that you do not eliminate sodium from your diet completely. I believe 1000-1400 milligrams A DAY (NOT per meal) is healthy, and is what they tell people with blood pressure problems they are allowed to have.

I make my own yummy dressings in a high speed blender or nutri-bullet, and I use sunflower seeds for a whole food healthy fat and raisins for the sweetener.

I make my own dressing, never buy from store. You could put extra virgin olive oil and apple cider vinegar, a little lemon juice and the black berries in a blender with some hemp or flax seeds and make a fabulous dressing, even throw in 1,/2 cucumber, or celery. Bend to creamy..

What about adding beans to salads under this program?
I esp. like kidney and black beans, usually made from dried beans rather than canned-but sometimes I use the latter when time is an issue, but very, very well rinsed to get rid of as much of the added sugar (why???) as possible-though some of it probably leaches into the beans.
But I like them for the protein and esp. the fiber-but I wonder if the carbs might be an issue, even from dried bean sources if you are aiming to lose weight. I typically add a serving size (as the cans define it) to salads, one half of a cup. Sometimes a full cup depending on the salad.

I eat carniviore. Have for 3 yrs. Never felt better in my life. Lost 45 lbs. Haven’t had fruits or veggies or bread in that whole time. Never knew what feeling this good was like!! I take a multi vitamin, andvwalk 2 to 4 miles a day!! May not eat meat, cheese, eggs, butter, some olive oil

I eat OMAD and my meal today was a bowl about that size. I eat mine in a similar bowl. By the time you get the greens and other veggies, avocado, walnuts, olives, etc it takes a big bowl but a huge salad like that tides me over till the next afternoon.Loved the video as usual.

I encourage eating a lot of salads with every meal you eat. I lost 20 pounds in a month by doing just that with a bit of exercise here and there. Do it and C4 urself
All salads and most vegetables give me indigestion and cramps. I feel much worse when I est them. I can eat onion, garlic, mushrooms, well cooked green beans, cauliflower and broccoli without too much symptom. My nutrient charts show that also many meats contain potassium. Magnesium and vitamins with phyto nutrients are easy to supplement.

I have a doubt. 10 oz of spinach, still gives me only 1582 mg of Potassium, and spinach is probably the richest source of potassium in that mix. That is still way short of the RDI, isn’t it?

FYI Cooking / Sautéing / Boiling your greens such as Spinach, Chard, Kale, etc., vastly increases the potassium content.
I saw a YouTube article (or read somewhere) that Extra virgin olive oil is almost always close to rancid before it hits the grocery store shelves. i started to eat salad without dressing…the vinegar would make me hungry quickly. So I’m just eating vegetables but I do add meat. For eating out and salads, i get dressing on the side.
I can’t eat spinach or kale unless they are cooked. I get pins and needle effect if eaten raw because of the oxalic acid. No one tells you about this.

3 ounces of meat/fish has 300mg to 500mg of potassium. So eating enough meat should allow one to have a smaller salad. I grow cherry tomatoes year ’round and they have 237mg per 100g of cherry tomato. Add a few and that should reduce the number of needed cups of greens as well…
I had a bad experience with ordering a salad which had to have at least eight cups per serving. I was so bloated after lunch it was a sign not to put dressing on the whole portion and bring the other half home. Sometimes salads loose their freshness after three hours in the styrofoam containers that they give you to bring home
What about mixing some tablespoons of homemade yogurt with apple cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, and of course black pepper to make a sauce?
I have a huge salad about 4, maybe 5, days/week, depending how much time I have. It takes forever to make a big salad, and dressing, from scratch every day. But, it’s worth the time spent. Has helped me drop 50 lbs. this past year, WITHOUT DIETING, and without being hungry. It’s a life change: diets do not work. Altering your habits does.
Sugar is a drug…the more you have, the more your body craves. I have an occasional couple of days lapse where I unhealthily mini-binge on candy or cake, but I get back on the vegetable horse as soon as possible.
And don’t waste your money on iceberg lettuce. Essentially, it’s worthless nutritionally, compared to the other greens (kale, spinach, etc.) available.
I usually add some canned salmon (it’s always wild-caught from the can, never farm-raised), or chicken, sardines, cheese, sunflower seeds, walnuts, almonds, beans, etc., so it’s a full meal. It usually ends up being enough to feed a horse.
I slap all types of stuff into the dressing: Chobani coconut yogurt as the base, olive oil, mustard, a touch of honey, a couple of caps of organic apple cider vinegar (oh yeah, if I can afford it at the time, all greens, carrots, celery and so on, are organic), a bit of hot peppers diced up, lemon or orange squeezed in. Whatever I can think of.
And always topped with some pink Himalayan salt, black pepper and turmeric, and some parmesan cheese, scraped from a block. You need the black pepper and fat (like from the olive oil), to make the turmeric biologically active, from what I’ve read.
So chow up! And eat like a rich rabbit.

20 years of hypothyroid but never has any doctor given this most important information, learnt it the hard way feeling horrible after eating certain foods.
