The is the most pathetically fake crowd I ever heard. Screaming at the top of their lungs for stupid shit.
She invites an expert on the show but she keeps interrupting him every chance she can. Good information at least.
Never is there a single frame of your video that is not dominated by your face. Sorry, you’re not that pretty.
all those restaurants that sell bologna sandwiches put as much other stuff on the sandwich so you don’t notice the nasty bologna.
Those videos are so stupid, I never guessed a single food item wrong based on the looks… You can see right away what the expensive food item is…
Hi Becca, I know you will love to try this brand, is called “Organico Bello” is totally organic, it doesn’t have any sugar added, low sodium and the BEST, it tastes AMAZING!!!!! Love all of your videos, I literally watch one or two every day, it’s part of my daily routine. They keep me motivated in my intuitive eating lifestyle and they also make me so happy! Thank you! You really changed my life!
It is very weird because in France this is definetly not called a salami but a saucisson
A lot of people who make their home made sauce use sugar to reduce the acidity to make it taste less bitter. Its not like theres gobs of sugar in these sauces like there is in a Mountain Dew and plus its only a problem if you have diabetes. Normal healthy people dont have to worry about the small amounts of sugar. Stop the over zealous paranoia
i tried prego and ragu. too much acid taste. so im back to can tomatoes and its cheaper
I love simple truth organic! The sugar level of 6 is kinda high, but it has all organic ingredients. (: The only down side is opening the container. I need my boyfriend or dad to open it easily, but I can do it regardless.
Thank you for sharing and God bless!!! (:
On sodium?
Avoiding sodium is a joke. Sodium is believed to be connected with two major health issues: water retention, and high blood pressure.
If you’re peeing normally?
You don’t have water retention issues.
If you have healthy blood pressure levels?
You have no reason to avoid sodium.
Beyond that, studies have been coming out that have poked holes in commonly held views on sodium. For one thing, there is less and less proof that sodium is as connected to blood pressure as previously believed, and for another, for those with high blood pressure, there is evidence showing that those going on heavily sodium restricted diets do not have any measurable health improvement, when compared to those who do no restrict salt.
In all things, you should moderate. High levels of salt probably are bad for you. High levels of anything, no matter how needed it is, is bad for you. But if you pick up a pasta sauce that appeals to you, and put it back down because of sodium levels, you are potentially cheating yourself.
And, for the sake of argument?
While I don’t care for overly sweet sauces, I’d argue that sugar is nearly as harmless. If you are not diabetic, and not over weight, a sauce that has some added sugar IS NOT going to hurt you. It can be wise to limit caloric intake (and most calories in the American diet come from sugar), but so long as you are within your daily calorie goal, or if you break it you choose to exercise that extra little bit to see it burned off? That sugar isn’t gonna hurt you.
It can be worthwhile to know it is there, but unless you have a medical reason to avoid sugar, I would not worry too much. And if carbs were a concern, you wouldn’t be buying a sauce to be eaten on PASTA.
And as for the idea that sugar has no place in sauce? Bunk. A lot of very good home made recipes call for some sugar. Some sauces are supposed to be a little sweeter, and some use the sugar to cut the acidity of the tomato base. If your tastes prefer less sugar, all the power to you. If you need to avoid it for health, be aware of it. But pretending some added sugar in your sauce is a giant red flag is silly.
Lastly, she covers “weird ingredients.”
Now, remember: we’re talking jarred and canned, prepackaged mass produced sauces. Don’t you think that preservatives are expected?
Here’s better advice: If the ingredients you don’t know seem weird to you, Google them. You can find out what they are, where they come from, how they’re tested, what they’re used for, and what else they’re in.
If, after looking at that, you decide “I don’t want X in my food,” then by all means, avoid it.
But the idea of “I don’t know what that is and so I assume it is bad for me” backfired.
Sodium Chloride. That’s a chemical. The second part of it kind of sounds like chlorine, and I don’t want that in my food!
Well, it’s just table salt. Normal table salt.
MSG! The big scary! Mono-sodium Glutamate! That sounds entirely lab made and dangerous!
Well, a glutamate is a natural, organic compound that exists in almost everything you could eat, and in the human brain is a neural transmitter. Mono-sodium means that it’s structure is a single sodium atom. Sodium, as we know, is salt. MSG is just a type of salt that exists as a glutamate. It is refined out of seaweed, and acts a a flavor enhancer, just as salt does. And the only study that suggests it is dangerous comes from the 1970s, where a guy at a CRAP LOAD of Chinese take out that had MSG in is, got a mild headache later, and baselessly assumed that this meant MSG was dangerous.
In fact, if you feel that high sodium levels are dangerous, MSG is a great alternative, because you only use a fraction as much, so there is less sodium content while still getting a flavor boosting effect of sodium.
She’s the professional. I am not saying her education has no merit. But I think there are times when education can cloud common sense just as much as ignorance can cloud common sense.
Too much of anything is bad. Be aware of calories and your fitness level. The more simple the ingredients, the better the product most likely will be, but it will also be more expensive; preservatives are a price we pay for cheap, manufactured food…. and they won’t kill you and are likely harmless, so long as they aren’t in 2/3 of what you consume every day.
Lastly? If you want complete control of salt levels, sugar levels, preservatives, etc? If you want to determine exactly what ingredients are in it and how much? Learn to make your own sauce. There is a thrill, satisfaction and pride you can take in making your own. It is cheaper and easier than you’d think (especially if you have your own garden, for the herbs at least!), and recipes and video guides exist in abundance. Cracking open a jar of prego and heating it up can be very satisfying, I have nothing against jarred sauces. Making your own is a whole other level of satisfaction, however, and once you nail it just right, you’ll find yourself buying the ingredients to do that again, and walking right past the sauce aisle, without a second thought.
They completely forgot to mention that the mixing of sodium nitrates and nitrites with the protein in the meat leads to formation of cancer causing compounds!! Cured meats are classified as Class 1 Carcinogen by the World Health Organization.
all are pretty obvious, anyone can tell the most expensive one.
When you said you’re a registered dietician, I immediately subscribed.
Becca, the info is good and I know how difficult it is to shoot a video, I am not as good as you. Please could you step back from the camera just a little bit. I bet you have really pretty tonsils, but I do not care to see them.
I make my own sauce!!! Much cheaper and I control the ingredients!
can u have someone who doesnt know anything about these things to do this. it’s not that hard to tell which is more expensive.
I like your videos but can you please tone it down when you talk?
Did you show the rao’s sauce thats in your thumbnail? Was looking forward to that. I’ve been binge watching your “the skinny on” series. Love it! Hope for some more soon. Your voice is very soothing:)
These are such great ideas!! Definitely interested in salad dresses bc I LOVE Kraft Lite Balsamic Vin but I’m nervous to hear your thoughts 😉 haha <3 these so much!! My mom is a dietitian & I need to get her watching you!! so awesome!
I love these videos:) I’ve watched every one you’ve posted and they’ve really helped me when I’m at the grocery store trying to decide between products. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Thank you so much as always. You make it so easy to understand how to read labels and what to look for. It seems like everyone else makes it so confusing. Can’t wait to see more.
I second the skinny on sweeteners! I always wonder if just raw sugar is better than something like stevia or Splenda…I was using agave for a while and then heard honey was better….HELP!
You could tell the A side bologna was more expensive the second you saw it, lol. You wouldn’t even need to taste it.
Where is the Rao’s commentary?!? Watched the whole video waiting on it…was in the thumbnail…booooooooooo
I make my own sauce. I didn’t really realize how bad marinara sauce is until recently. Holy sugar!!! I buy a large can of tomato puree and add Mrs. Dash garlic & Herb, stevia, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of sea salt. It is so easy and much cheaper, plus so much lower in sugar and salt!
I love the series, but I wish you would include the nutrition facts and ingredients on the screen like you did with the Peanut butter video.
do you have a skinny on crackers or corn chips. such as ones you would use for dipping in hummus or guacamole? i have been eating hummus with pretzels but i’m sure there’s a better option. and i won’t eat it with carrots
You should do the skinny on protein powders because never know which one to buy or what to look out for! Love this series its helped me to be a smarter shopper!
Never thought while watching this I’d run up on something racist and hateful. Nasty stuff.
If you fry it, slice it in a maltese cross so it doesnt curl up to bad.
OMG I was just trying to find a pasta sauce at Ralphs yesterday and they are just horrible! I usually get mine from whole foods, it has no preservatives and is organic…but it’s $10!! Still though, it’s my fav and low in sodium and no added sugars!
Love all of your videos! I’m new to your channel and I’ve been binge watching!! Lol
Keep up the great videos, YouTube needs more people like you!
Hey Becca! You should check out Rao’s pasta sauce if your grocery store carries it. (Target does in my area). I just looked at one of my jars and it only had 340mg of sodium and no added sugar. It’s on the pricier side but worth it in my opinion!
Prego is probably never the healthiest option, but it is affordable. Prego’s Marinara sauce (it’s a separate “flavor” from their traditional) doesn’t have added sugar for anyone interested in a slightly healthier option!:)
Edkrich bologna is gross. Taste like tiny bones in it. Oscar Mayer’s always the best. John Morelle bologna is good
As an Italian without any actual preparation for this, I recognized every meat but I still feel insulted by the fact that he says Bologna in that strange way when it’s actually called mortadella
TRUMP SUCKS AND BIDEN STANDS FOR Biggest idiot Democrats ever nominated

HE SAID HAMON REEEEEEEEEEE REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Just watched this and needed to get myself a wurst halfway through the vid.
You can easily tell the more expensive meat without being a food expert. Maybe I can’t tell how many time the animal went to the bathroom after tasting the meat like this guy, but picking the more expensive one is super obvious
As my first episode in this series i was very surprised. I was expecting a lot of snobbery, and while there was some, it was very clear that this man just loves good meat regardless of the price tag. Very humble
Eli: smells like a quality ham
Me: eating rotten ham on the toilet “ smells really good”
The ideal way to eat baloney is wrapped around a porterhouse and grilled over fire. I’ll eat spam before baloney, if my dying hands can grasp it. In all seriousness, ham doesn’t cost much to buy sliced to your liking. Hold the meat mud please.
Dood I feel like anyone would have been able to guess them apart
Butcher: “Alright sir, that salami’s gonna be $25.”
Me: “Wait… lemme just… squeeze it first.”
I must be a meat expert too, cause I can tell which one is more expensive just by looking at it
Oooo I like how he employees marx’s labor theory of value. Based.
I love hearing the knowledge and stuff like that and that’s why I watch this but I also feel like this was so obvious. I guessed all of these correctly.
One the cheapest sandwichest you can eat… with a bit of mustard.. perfect!
Good Lord! $193 for a lb of ham?! How are you supposed to eat it? In some fancy gourmet sandwich?
Why called it skinny on? Why not healthy on? Skinny isn’t healthy and vice versa
He just put ‘american’ to almost every mass factory produced meat products
I would love to see these kind of videos, but with regular people, just to see what would they assume lmao
We never had it when we were kids…but once at school a kid gave me half his boloney sandwich it was on a buttered roll…It tasted pretty damn good.
Hi Becca. This video was super helpful. I’m starting to live a healthier life and and healthy eating is a struggle. I LOVE LOVE LOVE pasta sauce. I’ll eat anything with pasta sauce drizzled over it (we’ll, almost anything LOL). I especially like having pasta sauce with my raw, steamed or roasted veggies. It takes eating broccoli from a chore to a delight! Instead of buying sauce from the store, I’ll make my own no sugar added of course)and either jar or freeze it for future use.
The title of this video is the truth about tomato sauce. The video happens to be about spaghetti sauce. Tomato sauce and spaghetti sauce are two very distinct different things at the grocery store. Turns out you didn’t tell the truth you lied
they just bought a chunk of 193dollars/lb prosciutto from Spain for a guy to eat like 2 slices out of it
So I am guessing Simply Enjoy is helping to sponsor your video? it seems its the only can you show.
“Bologna” ma per favore… messa a confronto con la mortadella poi… (“Bologna” ffs… compared to actual mortadella…)
Is it me or did anyone else guess everything correctly without being a meat expert
I can tell how expensive the price is by looking at the price tag
1:47
Im sorry but im not gonna casually squeeze my meat in the deli section
Am I the only one who’s watched brad Leone make sausages with this man? Like? I remember him.
Props for him doing an actual analysis on a crazy looking mortadella vs Oscar Mayer bologna.
Smells ham, “smells like ham.” Yep a real meat expert alright
Of course the meat expert is the only food expert outwardly snobbish
clicked on the video because i remember this guy from It’s Alive on bon appetit
Is this an accomplishment any common human could figure these out
I like to think that he stuff that expensive prosciutto under his shirt and snuck it home.
I’d like to see a video where you talk the whole way through with no jump cuts!! I believe in you:))
I am super puzzled by his clothing style. A jean shirt underneath what looks like another flannel?
Could they have been any more obvious with the bologna? I mean seriously who could get that wrong? Lol. It is cool how he goes into depth with it though
If that is really Jamón ibérico de bellota it would be a shame it was not cut by hand
Tender saucisson? (Salami) what a monster! Rock hard and salty af is the best for me!
He got free food. I feel like that’s why he came. He also love meats so he is a meat expert
“I’m gonna smell this ham.. it smells like ham..” What an expert!
This guy smells the meat
Also this guy:this cow is 2 years old his mom is named Mary he was born April 3 2018 his father died on April 9 2018 he has 2 sister and no brothers this cow had a injury 3 days before he was killed he saw 226 people before his death this cow had 1238 meals before his death his sister had a sister with diabetes his sister is going to die in 6 days and his mom is going to have 3 children before her death
Best sandwich ever, tuna fish with home canned Bread and Butter pickles.
Tim hortons sponsors Nova Scotia with donuts cause they all come with holes in them?
The prices you Americans pay for these products (even for the “cheap” ones) are shocking to me, a European. I can go to the local deli or to the butcher’s and get a quality meat product for a fraction of the price.
Jamon Ibérico, pata negra, jabugo, etc is truly out of this owrld. I understand why they called it “prosciutto” in this video, given that it’s geared towards Americans who may not know it, but Jamon Ibérico is a different product and imo WAY superior to the Italian one
Sometimes it’s better not to know too much about whet you’re eating.
I still eat it. But it has to be Kahns all beef from the deli. Had uncle who was raised in KY that taught me to eat bologna on white with tomato and mustard. He called it a KY steak sandwich.
It kinda saddens me that all of these products were pork based. I would have loved to see a wide variety of different meats tested.
That bologna cake is the nastiest thing i have ever seen. And feeding prisoners it every day is just cruel punishment.
I didn’t know people fried bologna, I thought everyone just baked it
While incarcerated I ate what was available, and Bologna would have on some days a dellecasy.
I just found your channel and I’m so excited to watch your videos! I’ve recently become very interested in nutrition and I’ve been changing the types of foods I’m eating so this is going to be very helpful.
I am a college student and I find time to make my own sauce because it’s so much cheaper! I just use one can crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and herbs. I just let it heat to a boil then let it cool and put it in the fridge or freezer. It tastes great and is not time consuming at all.
My mother remembered that Grandma would make bologna salad for the family. Ham was expensive so she opted for bologna instead.
I get six slices everytime I go to the market. Then I feed them to the dog when I get home, he loves it. Me not so big on beaks and butholes.
When I was a kid, I used to love fried Bologna with cheese and French dressing lol
Still haven’t gotten an answer to what percentage asshole it contains.
Grew up on the stuff. Worked in a plant that made it! Still love it today, but only as a treat. It is high in salt, & fat.
All bologna is crap and all hot dogs are crap as well, but they taste good don’t they…
Perfect bologna sandwich has mayo and thick sliced tomatoes with salt and pepper
We already knew what was in Bologna. Same as hot dogs, lips and assholes, lol.
About the only way I can stomach it is with lots of mustard to tone down the bologna taste. So vile!
All the comments denigrating bologna? Just LOOK at the spelling.
I love bologna sandwiches. I also like microwaved and fried bologna. Not happening, I’ll always eat bologna. The world is full of bologna.
I love fried bologna but lately I have been eating cream cheese on bread then you take two thick pieces of bologna then you put another piece of bread slathered with more cream cheese yummy
If your in prison say thank you to green bologna and say thank you to every tax payer that pays for it.
ask for thinly sliced German bologna @ the deli counter. delightful.
It would help if you keep your commits short and to the point. There is to much rumbling, also diagrams would help people remember your information.
This is really random but you should do one on salad dressings!!!! I always get so overwhelmed on which to chose! Do you have any recommendations?
Bologna and spam was considered a staple part of my childhood growing up in NC
I’m a sad pig, to be honest with ya.
PS: Thanks for teaching he how to get good quality meat!
I had a friend that experimented with making bologna jerky and the finished jerky was really quite good.
I’m not sure if I’ll ever have another one again after seeing that slurry of Balogna sandwich.
You should be ashamed lying about Sheriff Joe like that. SHAME
Double stack of grilled sourdough, choice of melted cheese, fried bologna and fried egg with mayo! Yummy!
i wanna see regular people decide between cheap vs expensive _
It is only a big boiled hot dog cut into thin slices, it looks like diarrhea when it is made
people go ape-shit on how sausages are made but don’t even bat an eye when this is how bologna is made.
another sandwich i will not eat,is MacDonald’s hamburgers.only one in my whole life, Yep,got sick, just made it out of the parking lot on rt 41 1960’s.never again
my mom made bologna salad, which i ate so much,i got sick.have not eaten it since the 1950’s
Try Travis County Texas jail bologna. its weird, watery and has bits of bone fragments in it…. horrible…..
I’m an old school young Mexican and I don’t eat that poison garbage that’s white people stuff
Its dog food. Its made of the floor sweepings of meat abottiors
Bologna really does get a bad rap. I think it tastes great. Its not great for you sure, but its pretty darn good! It also is good to have on hand for emergencies.
Well I hate to burst your bubble, but Rao’s pasta has 3g of sugar sodium is 340. Its by far the best pasta sauce on the market. All the prego and ragu and all the store named crap pasta sauce is crap. Rao’s uses fresh ingredients. Its the exact same sauce used in the restaurant in New York.
Anyone else ever bite into the babybell cheese case not realizing you werent supposed to eat it?
Fried bologna and a couple eggs makes for a good breakfast if you don’t have bacon or can’t afford bacon but have a buck to get bologna
Alas, we all know that the best Bologna is the small 1.5in. diameter approximately 14in. long coil in the red casing. Lovingly placed on a low fire barbecue grill for about 15 minutes. Ah, memories!
maybe your shit channel should do a video on epstien didn’t killhimself with bologna.
First it says we need to eat more baloney. Then it says that its a “sometimes” meal since it high in fat and salt.
Brexiters, this is the sh1t that is soon going to be appearing in the UK along with chlorinated chicken and hormone injected beef. If Trump likes it he can f**king keep it. I would love to see a UK version of the Boston Tea Party where protesters and UK farmers chuck all this stuff into the harbour to feed the fish.
I love this series. Can you do a video about different ice creams? Also maybe a video about different low cal ice creams like Halo top
I loved this! I learned yesterday a bologna sandwich in West Virginia is called a West Virginia Steak sandwich! Havent ate bologna since the 80’s
