Finally!! Been waiting for this for a while. Great video man.
Subscribe if you’re new peeps! Let’s get that RX level next year!
Great tips! Have been doing Crossfit for almost a month. Will be grabbing my own rope after watching this! The first this the coaches told us were “don’t look at the upcoming workout and choose”. excellent advice.
IMO whatever training methods that allow you to consistently train with intensity for long periods of time, either from staying away from injury, good programming, fun and interesting. You can build muscles! There is more than one way to skin the cat. Some people like lifting weights, some crossfit, some calisthenics, some like to train full body, some like hitting isolated body parts. Whatever it is as long as you train with the right amount of frequency, right amount of intensity (Progressive Overloading) you will grow.
3:34 #3 Don’t become gear dependant this is me right now. Needed to hear this, thank you.
Most important to memorize are:
barbell
dumbbell
machines
pull-ups
pushups
The people talk about it as if they belonged to a cult and not many of them look fit.
i will disagree with you, you can build muscles with any type of sport more or less, it depends on the people’s goal and how much muscle you want to put on, you never gonna put on the amount of mass like bodybuilders do by doing crosfit, better change the video title
hey! if it gets you moving then do it. I couldn’t do Crossfit because what I enjoy most about working out is shoving my headphones into my ear with my music and being left the hell alone. But you never know! I might try it someday.
There is no peer reviewed studies to show CrossFit is effective. NONE! Everytime a college like Ohio State did any kind of study,Gluggles Glassman sued them. There is no scientifically proven data outside of CrossFit’s claim saying CrossFit is effective.
everything over 3 times a week, is way too much. with steroids,ye
But I don’t wanna do terrible form push ups and pulls ups, oh yea and that part about being severely gay… I’ll stick with bodybuilding
The best thing to burn fat is training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu after the training you are very sweat and you can lose a lot of calories 😉 thanks for your lessons
CrossFit I would say makes you an overall better athlete than just pure bodybuilding. You do a lot of the core compound movements in CrossFit anyways while also adding in swimming, gymnastics, running, plyometrics. Bodybuilding is about the physique and focusing on your aesthetic, choosing one over the other would depend on what your personal goal is and what you find fun
Hey, when I started Crossfit, i didn’t have any athletic background or did something either than eating and playing videogames. I stared doing everything modified for my “level” and I felt comfortable and had no pain, well, the muscle pain is normal when you start practicing any sport. Nowadays I am very healthy person, I feel very happy with Crossfit and I have never had ANY injuries. Also i’m 14 years old.
I can’t believe I found this website. Next Level Diet completely changed the way I look at diets. When I started following their diet plan, I realised that diet isn’t something you should be scared of and it can easily fit in your daily routine.
Except, bodybuilding well thought full body routine and its progressive overload and combination of exercises day after day are totally not the same as doing crossfit. Pushups + bikes + pullups and rope climbing random session has nothing to do with full body progression. Yes they do all the basic core movements in crossfit but the randomness and cardio so mixed in between major lift rest periods is not even close as optimal. Yes crossfit athletes are in best overall condition, but to say full body routine like jeff’s is your base of judgement that u can progress in body shaping the same way with cross fit is complete wrong interpretation. Also u dont need to mock bodybuilding and splits, dont forget where u come from. Not to mention noone serious in bb is doing just chest…there are push oull legs routines also stuff like chest back and traps same day, full legs and shoulders on another and full arms with cardio conditioning.. noone does chest and chest and chest, what are u trained in the 60’s….! Just cause u switched does not mean u can mock… when u havent been in top spot in either of the sports! Now… i also want to say that Obi is also modified his crossfit so its bot that random and he is like a bodybuilder who just sky rocket his cardio. Interpretations bias as much as i like u..
I find it so satisfying that Crossfit has been just continuing to prove the bodybuilding experts wrong year after year. So many bodybuilders are now making the switch to high intensity metcon’s because of what they have been seeing from Crossfit athletes over the years. The hilarious thing is that some of the proud ones refuse to use the term “crossfit” in their videos because of the trash they talked in the past.
#1 hit the nail on the head. Even after 3 years of crossfit, any amount of running ruins the entire WOD for me. It zaps all my energy that could be spent on the rest of the WOD, it’s a guarantee I’ll finish last if I finish at all, subsequently destroys my confidence… absolutely LOATHE it. Honestly rather not do it than get better at it, I hate it so much. But it’s my own personal obstacle to overcome, I guess.
This video shows a pretty basic lack of understanding for the mechanisms of muscle growth.
This is nothing new, athletes (sprinters, swimmers, wrestlers, etc) have been training like this since weight training came to be. Even DC training has been pushing this idea for decades.
I’ve noticed since I’ve incorporated more Crossfit workouts into my week I feel overall better as an athlete. I’m stronger and my endurance for running and on the bike has improved dramatically.
the average run of the mill crossfitter isnt parituclarly muscular, you cant hold the standards of professional enhanced drug using crossfit to everyone else. 99 percent at top level are using peds, natty crossfitters look like dyel. sick of denial of ped use in crossfit.
Last year, before starting CrossFit, I was 62kg. Now after a year of training (and eating extremely well) I’m 73kg.
I’m 70 years old and have been crossfitting for two and a half years. Happy to know that I was not guilty of any of these. Believe me I wanted to skip the WODS I didn’t like, but didn’t. Still would like to skip them. lol
This guy is idiot. CrossFit is better for gains. Is also better for swimming? Omg
Just another thought. I am not endorsing fighting but physical altercations are a real part of life. I don’t look for fights but I’ve got caught in situations that I have not had a choice in the matter and I had to defend myself or protected a loved one. My working out is mainly cardio and strength training. I’ve learned to make my exercises to mimic different hand strikes, kicks and even wrestling and judo moves with rubber bands. pullies with weights or steel springs. I’ve always wondered how crossfitters would do in physical altercations; both men and women.
Craig, I have been in a conventional gym since I was 14 (now 30) and I looked fairly good. BUT…
I had started CrossFit just before the cornavirus shut everything down. Lucky I got equipment before everything got bought and in all seriousness my physic has never looked better BUT, more importantly my mental health is super healthy. Far to many individuals caught up in flexing biceps will never understand the high you get from feeling amazing!
where is the best place to find programs to structure your own workouts?
i tried crossfit for a month then said fuck this shit. went to a normal gym, learned how to do everything from a personal trainer PROPERLY. Bought an all in 1 $2,000 weight lifting gym for the basement, bought a rowing machine, for cardio, and never looked back. you can keep your bad form, injuries, and cult. i want no part of it.
There are so many issues with Crossfit. But that’s another topic.
I do agree that bodybuilding is dying and it’s about time.
Bodybuilders bitch about Crossfitters can’t do an exercise the right way, meanwhile they themselves can’t even do a squat or bench correctly. It’s hilarious.
Half repping shit talking about how they are putting constant tension on the muscle.
Well we know that pull reps are superior to partial reps.
This is well known, except if you happen to be a bodybuilder
Nippard is clueless about actual science though.
He has proved several times now that he doesn’t even know how to read a study.
Like when he said the bench press was proved by EMG to be the best exercise for the pecs.
Well is it? No it’s not. Which is really easy to debunk if you actually READ the studies. Which Nippard can’t
Stopt doing WODS. Just train full body and MMA. Feel better than ever.
I’m in way better shape since I gave up CrossFit and started doing a program meant for me, not for everybody. And those elite CF athletes, while impressive, all came from a specialized area and were already elite in weightlifting or gymnastics. You can’t take your average joe and turn them into an elite CF athlete. There’s also a problem with any programming that ignores perfect technique and execution to get one more rep.
Add gear to that and here is why cross fit females and males look the way they do and please don’t even deny it
Crossfit is great and I don’t put it down at all, but it is for people that have a physical baseline to begin with and can grow/push from there. High athletes, football players, Olympians would prosper from this, not the average ‘joe’/’jane’! And for people over the age of 55, definitely not, unless they have been working out for years. As fitness professionals, everyone should know the foundation of all fitness is the core, from your ribs to your mid quads. That has to be stable and strong first, if not, everything else you do will create injury over time. So kudos to those that can crossfit, it is a ‘young persons’ sport, however, I know in saying this some over 50’s can do this. All the best!
If your goal is to build bigger muscles then crossfit is not the right program.
I have been in bodybuilding before trying crossfit programs in Bando martial art (a Burmese martial art)
Crossfit basically helps you to burn fat, build your stamina and endurance.
Bodybuilding helps you to get in shape but its results start to fade away just by stopping to go to the gym for a month.
That was my own experience:)
Thank you very much. I didn’t know how to explain to my personal trainer the other day! Now i know! Thanks teacher
We also need to take into account PEDs. Not all top athletes, but most. Every other elite sport does, so why pretend not CrossFit? Let’s be honest. That’s coming from someone that loves CrossFit!
Thanks! This is great advice. I’ve been perusing Amazon for a jump rope!
Haven’t been in CrossFit, but yeah thinking to give it a shot. And thanks for the heads up dude. Nice video. Hello to Murphy.
Literally had my first trial in CrossFit today. It was good. I like it. So it was good to watch this video.
By just looking at the physiques of most crossfitters there is without shadow of a doubt that they are all on steroids thus this video cannot be taken seriously. You could be making more natty strength gains and then hytrophery by following a Rippletoe program as a beginner. On the flip side if you want to go all in on steroids and then go lift your face off with insane none hytorpheric specific exercises then by all means do Crossfit.
Sick click bait, newbie in the gym vs roided up rich froning
Greg Doucette should stop all this nonsense from both you and Jeff N.
Train hard with dedication and use your brain people that’s how you get results! I’ve done Crossfit, I’m doing bodybuilding now. Personally, I’ve seen much better results with bodybuilding, but yeah, crossfit is fun and can be a grea training, but the community is brainwashed and I was sick of that.
“Jeff Nipard is a natural athlete “…. aaaaaaaaand I closed the video… FFS RICHEY….C’MON MATE!
3. You might not be able to do it as well physically because the gear has changed your range of motion (away from natural) or deactivated certain muscles (belt over the core muscles). 4. “Forget about 3. Don’t adapt to different jump ropes. Get use to doing it one specific way.” “If you’re double unders are inconsistent you’re a terrible athlete.”
I’ve watched a few lessons of yours, and I think I like you. You’re cute! hhhh
I’m going to add to my comment here, because if this guy is using the Rich Froning’s, Mat Fraser’s, Noah Olsen’s of the world to suggest that Crossfit’s methodology will give you great muscle gains, more than traditional body building, powerlifting, etc., then some more information is needed. Specifically, those above athletes DO NOT just do crossfit. 99% of people that do crossfit or functional fitness do a 1 hour class. In the 1 hour, they are probably doing 5 minutes of warm up, 15 minutes of strength, and 8 to 20 minutes of a metcon, sprinkled with 20 to 30 minutes of a coaching yammering on. They sometimes will lift a bar in the metcon, but not always, and during a metcon, the weight for guys will almost never go above 135lbs, which ain’t much. The strength session will likely be a powerlifting move or an olympic lifting move meaning, legs, back, and shoulders. But no chest. Additionally, with a metcon coming up, rarely did I see your normal crossfitter actually push themselves with their strength. They wanted to save themselves for the nonsense that got them higher on the board pathetic. Additionally, if you did a Warm Up/Work Out type program, then your warm-up could be 15 to 20 minutes, no strength, and one skipping metcon. What’s my point? Those above athletes do this stuff all day, everyday. They do not do one crossfit hour a day. That is why they have greater gains. They are doing more powerlifting and olympic lifting. And, yes, they are doing more body building movements because it helps with their recovery. As a result, they are getting sculpted in a way that no normal everyday crossfitter will. PERIOD. I’ll even add this the above athletes came into crossfit sculpted from years of more traditional lifting. If you come in to crossfit with very little strength and athletic ability guess what? You’re leaving crossfit about the same way.
I would argue hand grips are essential first piece of equipment too. When I first started it took 2 weeks for my hands to be completely shot and bleeding all over bars
Hello, get 35% on your order by adding me as a godfather on MYPROTEIN code: LOIC-R8Q
These are great products (food supplements, accessories…), do not hesitate! 😉
The fact that CrossFit still tries to claim they use gymnastics elements is utter shite. All the “gymnastic” elements are done with awful form and don’t count for shit
Thinking of starting, but expecting to do all of them. I tend to learn from my mistakes lol
If you want to build raw strength, muscle, and power, the last thing I would be doing is crossfit. Crossfit is more of an endurance exercise than anything. A structured lifting routine, four days a week, with conditioning at the end of each workout is most optimal. You’ll get bigger, stronger, and faster much quicker.
I don’t think you got the meaning of ”set per muscle group”.
In conclusion, I don’t think it’s a bad thing that CF athletes are able to perform the way they do. I’m sure not all of them are on TRT for example, but I think those that aren’t simply have naturally higher levels of T than other men do.
I do think it’s disingenuous, to try and get people to do CF 5-7 days a week to tell them they’ll make strength/aesthetic gains. Sure their metabolic conditioning will get better, but long term their health will decline.
Side note: Richey if you’ve read this far, your videos are sick man. I respect your positivity.
So been researching about CrossFit for about 2 yrs now, honestly I’m just terrified of injuring myself
Former MIL/CrossFit here. Used to train almost everyday, even when sore. Recently had my blood tested and discovered I was at 277ng/dcl of Total Testosterone (natural range is 300-1200). I’m 27 years old, can run a sub six minute mile, 20 strict pull-ups, and squat 300 pounds. Somehow I was able to attain a decent level of fitness with dangerously low levels of T.
If you’re going to do any style of training everyday where your muscles have little time to recover, you need to be externally using testosterone or some other PED; not doing so will lead to non-optimal recovery, long term losses in potential gains, and other issues (loss of libido, fat gain, bone degeneration, depression) which are all side effects of dangerously low levels of testosterone in men.
I think CrossFit is great I used to do it very frequently. CrossFit gyms are communities and competitions within and between other gyms are fun. I think it’s easier however to exercise with bad form because of the pressure of performance within a box. In other words, attempting to do an exercise you know you don’t have the skill for or lift a weight you know you shouldn’t do.
With proper foundational conditioning, skill, and strength work, CrossFit might be the ideal way to stay fit. Bodybuilding doesn’t produce well-rounded strength/conditioning and the wide range of skillsets that CrossFit does. It also has those who push bad limits with poor form.
What if your trying to bulk up and only going 3 times a week? In order to be able to consume a calorie surplus? In that case would you skip the cardio?
I have been playing crossfit for 1 and half years. And my biggest mistake is that I don’t buy my things
Hmmm, I just started. In fairly good shape to start with. Age 61. Age is a big deal. Recovery takes way longer and a nap is key. All my muscles are sore after 3 workouts. “Running” today at 10:00. I’m sure our coach has lots of fun planned. I’m really happy with CrossFit so far. Training for my next Spartan race.
Sir Adam, you forgot to include; lift, pump, crunch, and warm up, cool down, and gear and etc… Those are some of gym words that has totally different meaning outside of the gym.
Forgive me for my probably totally newb comment….. Starting now… I want to get into xfit to better myself…. But im not a gym type of person…(never stepped into one for myself only to pick up my mom of all people) but I have some tires of varying sizes that i want to start using and also a cheap jump rope, will be getting a far better one that i can actually use haha, and as for a battle rope was thinking of getting with my local fire department to see if I could get some of there old hose of if they knew somewhere I could get some to make my own…. Love the diy aspect of life. As well I’m considering a salmon ladder in my back yard… Any advice or tips would be GREATLY appreciated! (From anyone) just subbed to your channel…. Gonna be binging ALOT of your videos as this is the first of many I will come to watch!!! Thanks for this video and keep on keepin on!!!!
Full-length Guide for CrossFit Beginners: https://wodprep.com/blog/crossfit-for-beginners/
Please Serials you please tell us which song is this video? thank you very much.
CrossFit is like doing insanity program but adding weights. You gain muscle and your cardio blows up
“bodybuilders look good ones a year, Crossfiter look good all year” -A bodybuilder
Alot of the top level cross fitters were already top level competitive athletes in other disciples before they started crossfit.
As for Tia toomey she got too, and won the Olympics from doing traditional weightlifting training with a weightlifting coach not directly from CrossFit though she did get introduced to it when she went from being a runner to CrossFit training.
Sick content:) Thanks for this. I love Jeff’s videos, this was a fun watch, and I learned stuff
This is the same with the military, that’s how they get big, training all the time
Love your videos, learning so much. My mistake is the jump rope . Makes sense why I’m not improving. Thanks!! Rock On Rock Stars!!
While I agree with 98% of this, I’m guilty of skipping workouts with 10+ snatches in the WOD. Yeah, it’s because I hate snatches, but it’s also because they HURT (I have limited shoulder mobility and arthritis in both wrists). I’m trying to get better about just swallowing my pride and showing up anyway knowing I might have to do a modification, but I think that’s the point. Don’t SKIP the workout but don’t force your body into pain to do multiple reps of an exercise. Instead, practice outside of WOD time to perfect form and eliminate pain.
Anyone else notice how none of these damned Crossfit videos explain Crossfit?! If you make a video for people curious about Crossfit, don’t tell them about everything else. Holy hell. To hell with a fitness community that can’t answer a damned fitness question.
I have to say I definitely have done the PR panic. I would change programming just to see if that was what it was but, in reality it was just not trusting the process and realizing that not every day was going to be a PR day.
Crossfit: Point A to point B Bodybuilding: Point A to point B and EVERYTHING in-between. Don’t get me wrong, the functionality and speed/athleticism in CrossFit is great….but I’m looking for longevity strength with more muscle to support my joints….oh not to mention actually sustaining my joints, so I’m choosing bodybuilding. Yes I know there are injuries in body building, there are injuries with any sport and I’m talking NATURAL BODYBUILDING. You actually give the muscle and joints time to adapt to the weight you’re pushing. Personally I choose body building as mentioned but that doesn’t mean CrossFit is dead…they both have benefits but you can’t say one or the other is dead smh.
Here let me sum it up really fast. Crossfit is garbage 90% of the time. If you go into a xfit gym and see crooked bar paths, rounded backs and kipping (most xfit gyns) then get the hell out.
Crossfit is awesome, but it’s become time and weight over form, gotta fix that.
Also it sounds like a cult ad.
There is always a trade off and if you just want muscle bulk then you train like a bodybuilder, if your main goal is strength then train like a power lifter, etc. the top CrossFit guys aren’t even as muscular as amateur level bodybuilders, or even the classic physique guys. Don’t believe me just look it up. Cross training has been around as a training method for almost 100 years, yes really. CrossFit is a brand and sport that has borrowed from all the training disciplines of the past, if CrossFit was superior in building muscle mass then I promise you bodybuilders would have started trying that way decades ago.
thank you man!! Mr. Adam. “Adamsın”:) it is meant in turkish you are a “quality gentleman”.
Crossfit”make people better”
Auto correct:make people die ( yes i know it from Indonesian )
First rule of cross-fitness, tell everyone you do cross fitness.
Second rule of cross-fitness, tell everyone you do cross fitness.
CrossFit is for everyone but not everyone is for CrossFit. Facts.
U are mixing so much stuff that doesnt even has to do with crossfit menwhat a shit video
Sorry…. Working out, its not a sport.
This attitude is a great way to end up with an injury.
I have been doing CrossFit for almost 2 months now. Buying shoes did help with the workouts, I still haven’t bought yet rope though. Plan on that purchase today:). I will say, that I have a love/hate relationship with CrossFit. I dread going and but I love the results, and have fun while I am there. I have never pushed my body to these limits before, and as a 52 yr old female I was surprised that I could do it. I have always worked out, but this is humbling.
wow that’s very helpful. thank u so much. but I want know more ,can u make more subsequent videos about English for the gym?
My problem is I’m that guy who was a big athlete in high school played every sport went to state in powerlifting twice in Texas and even though I have been doing CrossFit since leaving high school I’ve been off and on with how much I’ve moved and transferred colleges and now living in Dallas as a graduate about to get back into it full time and hoping to do it 4-5 days a week but would I be considered a newbie again and need to limit it 3 times a week for now?
Although I commend Crossfit for making fitness a group activity, that can’t excuse its terrible fitness principles. Fitness should be about quality, not quantity, yet CrossFit clearly lands in the latter camp. Teaching bad training habits (often to beginners) is downright irresponsible, and cannot be overlooked.
I love ❤️ CrossFit. To me, CrossFit is the best way to find yourself, to push yourself and to give the best you have. The enjoyment after a lesson is completed is indescribable…..
I dont believe in anything that doesnt involve a bench press and protein shakes
i don’t understand why people are bagging out CrossFit in the comment section. I’m by no means calling CrossFit the perfect sport but its changed so many lives for the better. I doubt most of you people saying how bad it is have ever been to a CrossFit box.
I have been doing CrossFit for 10 months now. I usually skip classes that I dont like.. hahah. as you said, I just think that I am not good enough in some things so I rather skip them… But will try to stop doing that…
My last WOD at a CrossFit box was:
600m run
21-15-9
Thrusters (95)
T2B
400m run
2 min rest
Snatches (95)
C2B Pullups
200m run
Probably from the Thrusters, Snatches, and run, I was sore for about four days following. The type of leg soreness where you can barely sit down. So my poor adaptation to the stress of this WOD is either because I was a weak, low T wimp, or maybe that my level of T isn’t over 1000 (either naturally or externally-aided).
Could you please suggest me?
I am facing big problem. I can write in english but cannot talk in english. I studied in english medium school but unfortunately I do not know how to speak fluently in english. When I was in school, I used to work along with my study as I am orphan and noone was there to help me financially. Now I am graduate and I want to work in international call center -bpo. They are providing handsome salary. When I give interview, they tell me that I am not in fluent in english and there is MTI issue. MTI means mother tongue influence ( pronounciation). They need american or british accent.
hi,,,,,, i want to start CrossFit, how can i get daily free programs? i live in Iran and i cant pay easily…..
The only people who hate Crossfit are the ones who’ve never tried it.
Don’t wish to be mean or anything but why do crossfitters think they are so much better then everyone else. Like they truly cram this shit down your throat. BTW I’m a powerlifter. Js
2 minutes of video and they still not explained what is crossfit
Why is it so expensive as nearly always held in a cheap lock up building with no facilities, nothing to do with profit margins?
Awesome video. I’ve been Cross-fitting for about 6 years now. I definitely went through the stage of becoming gear dependent. I couldn’t/ wouldn’t do any squatting movements without my lifters and knee sleeves. I finally weened myself off by focusing more time on warm up and mobility and joint stabilization work. Now, I can perform any squat barefooted and sleeveless.
“They don’t let you quit, even if you want to quit.” Nope, doesn’t sound like a cult at all.:))
All this talk about gains and you trying to somehow showcase that crossfit is good for “gains”…you really shouldn’t be doing this man. If I had a channel, I would specifically aim at an intelligent audience. I mean, it should be obvious to any moderately intelligent person that crossfit training (progressing linearly of course) will build a great looking body and of course will make your muscles grow a lot more than the average person, duh! Isn’t this what 99% of the people would like? Not to mention you will be able to actually use your body! Who wants to look like a swollen caricature (apart from bodybuilders and other people who haven’t got over the fact they were bullied at school), with a body who is more of a hindrance to your life than an advantage?
oh ive heard about crossfit, because you fucking told me about it, over and over and over without me asking
What’s my idea of average crossfiter? a ppl doing snatch squat and clean and jerk with horrible technic, doing cheated chins.
Wow, you are so nice! I like your voice and a manner of talking very charming and intelligent.
9 months in and this was super helpful. I am not guilty of most of these but the bit about the plateau is helpful as I feel like Im hitting a wall lately and now I know its normal. Appreciate the advice!
Lot of hate. I’m 31 @240 lbs. I can run 8:30 mile, squat 425 for reps, deadlift 525, do bar muscle ups and can snatch 225. And I do crossfit. The reason people lose their games because there’s nutrition sucks And because they don’t push themselves when it comes to lifting more weight and being more intense. It has nothing to do with the program it has everything to do with the coaching. If you have shitty coaches you will have shitty results. Garbage in garbage out
Dan Johns 40 day program (Easy strength) is full body about 5 times a week,
I am 17 and have been doing CrossFit for a year and a half these are some of my biggest improvements:
Start: 1 strict pull up
Now: 7 unbroken muscle ups, strict ring muscle up
Start: 70kg deadlift
Now: 150kg deadlift
Start: 28:30 5k
Now: 19:42 5k
One day I hope to compete at the CrossFit games
fit doenst mean healthy… fitness doesnt healt, its a life style
the real story of crossfit is exercising the ability to take criticism of why people crossfit lol
Hello Adam, you’re a great teacher! I am going to review this vocabulary with my students! I appreciate the video and your contribution to the teaching community!
I was very skinny and after changing my diet I finally started seeing results. I didn’t know anything about training and diet, but my friend told me for the website called Next Level Diet and I just followed their diet and training plan. They have amazing tips 😉 check it out
Skipping workouts, i mean who wants to row 5k for time haha:D
For all you haters hiding behind your computer screen, and saying “oh they aren’t doing exercise right” “that’s not how you do it”. Well then YOU try it. I would sure love to see you try to back-squat 160 pounds. I would sure love to see you try to do 30 pull-ups. I would sure love to see you try to do crossfit and call it a waste. Crossfit is not a waste, crossfit is a lifestyle of determination and hard work. So go, try crossfit, and I’d like to see you try to call it a waste.
This is one of my favorite videos. I am a beginner and I feel as if I’ve been guilty of 2 and 5 all the time. I have to remind myself that it’s ME I should focus on and not caring if someone else is “better” than I am. Also, I wish I were getting better at burpees, but I’m not. But I go anyway. I do the burpees, and I force myself to try to get better every time.
fitness is not defined within the academy, but on every day of our lives when we have to physically face known and unknown obstacles that appear in front of us
I’m 71 and just started CrossFit in October to fight osteopenia. Good at cardio but lousy strength. What should I focus on? Now training M, Tu, Th, Fr & rest W, and weekends. Is that best?
The following article should be read by anyone looking to train with a CrossFit trainer:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/eric-robertson/crossfit-rhabdomyolysis_b_3977598.html?utm_hp_ref=mostpopular
i am not into crossfit i am a bodybuilder… people hate on crossfit but atleast they get people working out and to reach whatever fitness goals they have…
LOL been lifting weights for 6 years, don´t need a teacher instructing me all times, all I need is dumbells and discipline. Just another fad, just like kettlebells 3 years ago!
I found this video very helpful, I’ve only been doing CrossFit for 7 weeks. Never knew that your personal jump rope is essential…have all the other equipment though. Have since purchased cross ropes for my own use. Thanks for this video, very helpful!
I injured my lower back about 15 years ago…lifting something heavy while at work. I went to the Hughston Clinic believing I may have slipped a disk. Fortunately, it was just a severe muscle strain. For the past 15 years the pain has never subsided. I’ve just learned to live with it. Some days have been better than others and over the years I’ve been to chiropractors and worked out in “traditional” gyms to no avail. The pain has ALWAYS been there…UNTIL recently.
For a little over a year now, I’ve been working out in a CrossFit gym….good coach….first and foremost, he teaches good form before going heavier on the weight.
A few weeks ago I noticed, kind of surprisingly, my back pain was GONE!! 100% GONE!! I’ve really enjoyed Crossfit a lot. I will probably never compete, but I feel better than I have in over 15 years. I’ll be 43 in September.
Crossfit has been a Godsend for me.
I don’t understand all the haters.
Anyway, it has definitely helped! #thankful
Hi idk if ill get a reply but quick question. How can i avoid having knee pain n wrist pain without the support? Is there a program to strength those issue.? Any advice b greatly appreciated
Yeah, when I used to check WODIFY to check out the WOD from my box,and I admit I sometimes avoided my workout session if I was not in the mood of a particular workout.( 5:30 am that is)
I just want to say that you are amazing for doing this. I just started
Thanks, Adam. I love the way you deal with the vocab naturally.
Thnk u teacher realy you are a great man
yhank you so much bcs your explain the lesson is better with the examples with your body that is great
but please add the picture with vocabularies
Only been doing CF for 6 months and really enjoying it. #4 is a good point and although I always get the longest rope I can, the gym ropes often are a little too short. Great video, subscribed and will checkout your site now!
Watch my crossfit Tabata videos and do one of them. Its 8 workouts. 20 seconds on. 10 seconds off. 4 minutes long. It will beat your butt! Share, Like, And Subscribe
I am guilty of skipping some workouts I’ve been doing it for about 2 months and I hate the running but I’ll definitely stop skipping now.
Your interpretation of Jeff’s video is confirmation bias at its core. You fail to acknowledge the entirety of Jeff’s “full-body-split” videos.
Crossfit is cool though. No personal issues. But your spread of self beneficial info isn’t right. ✌
With all of science, it is now often forgotten that it should just be fun. I go 4 times a week because it’s fun! the muscles grow by themselves:)
The top athletes in crossfit are juicing as fuck. Its ridiculous to take them as an example for building huge muscles… Crossift can be a nice sport, but it’s not the optimal method to build muscles. no offense…
I´ve been crossfitting for seven years and I have mown affiliate. I have to admit, I really enjoyed your video because these mistakes are my every day experience. Its just nice to see, that somebody made a video out of it. Thank you, I hit the subscribe button. Looking forward to see more.
Great video man! I really like how you explain the movements you do in crossfit and the reason you are doing certain moves. You have a knack for explaining the purpose and progression of moves that a lot of people think are just gimmicky or trying to cheat reps. Keep up the great content. Love you and Jas both!
Beginner here. Been at for 3 months. Great advice. Thank you.
I can see these mistakes, i did crossfit for 8 months and had to quit due to my finances.:( I go to the gym and work on getting stronger, when i start cross fit again, what should i expect? i dont know some of the lifts, should i establish a PR in every WOD? I know i can hang in cross fit, i have skipped WODS and now I see what happens when I do. Fantastic video!
It was Murphy that made me subscribe. Great looking pup. Grats. But seriously, regardless of the haters, thanks for putting these Beginner type vids on line for us Beginner types.
Not buying my own jump rope. It only took me one year and a half to buy one, and of course I can’t do double unders!
It looks like one of those things that are good, in and of itself, but bandwagon fitness gurus take advantage of people who don’t know how to do their own research.
Crossfiters are actually jacked as fffuar. From a use to be crossfit hater
I would say that I have my own jump rope but I need to use it so I can get fluid in Double Unders. Also, I’m not going to lie, I leaderboard a lot. I started CrossFit in June, I have come a long ways. I am a traditional weight lifter and played sports for years so a lot of stuff is just naturally coming. Once I master double unders, pistols and the muscle ups, I feel I’m in the driver seat. I like Leaderboarding though because as a competitive person, I like to know where I need to go as it drives me to push and try to go harder.
Thanks a lot, Adam! Even though I’ve passed CPE, there were quite some new words for me here… maybe kz I don’t work out:D
I’m about to start Crossfit and I really love your video. Thanks. Love your dog btw
lets talk about building muscle, not fitness and not strength. bodybuilding is the best way to build muscle. CrossFit is not the most optimal way for building muscle. sure you can definitely build muscle and you can get fitter as wel doing crossfit.
Thx for that great video. I will take the advices to my https://crossfit-kader.de/“>gym!
I have been doing CrossFit only for couple months but these tips are very helpful, thank you
Saying that the workouts sessions implies some muscle, is not the same that saying that that muscle is going to grow. For example: a marathon runner hasn´t big quads. Crossfit produces lots of quantities of cortisol per session, so that session is not going to be efficient to produce protein sintesis. Crossfit training is good to get better as a crossfit athlete, and nothing else. To build muscle IN AN OPTIMAL WAY, you must practice bodybuilding. I recomend you to read about a little about hypertrophy physiology. Greetings!
Thank so much Adam! some helpful words in gym help me to express and understand a little
Crossfit is a good way to build muscle when you’re on steroids, you know it mate 😉
Hello,
Really Good Video.
What other tips have you got?
I am looking at other good tip videos
Cheers for your time
https://youtu.be/kwW2zAiR-Ew
Thank you so much, you are very talented teacher and just good human:) recommend me please site or channel that include video on different teams. It seems you mentioned something like that, but I didn’t recognize…
Watching the leaderboard and getting down on myself, also the jumprope.
Thanks for the good advice.
Been doing over 2 years now.
I really love your videos, Ben!
Do you have Polish roots? Your surname seems familiar 😉
Thank you, greetings from Warsaw, Poland.
Hi, my name is Isaac and I’m a PE teacher in Gran Canaria (Spain). I found your video really useful. Thanks for this kind of videos, you have a new sub
I’m 9 months in. Out of this 5, I only made the jump rope mistake. I was also doing weightlifting stuff with running shoes, something I learned is a huge mistake. Other than that, I think I’m doing fine. I don’t worry about PR, leaderboards and gear (rope and shoes aside). My only “rival” is myself. Still can’t do DUs and HSPUs, struggle a lot with pull ups, but I feel better than ever.
Great advice, as a relative new cross fitter, I found this very true and helpful. Thx
62 years old in my seventh month My mistakes are leaderboard, plateau panic I have my own jump rope not sure it’s the right one and a pair of shoes that’s it
I think Cartman would love crossfit, now that he has given up on the waterpark.
Only been doing crossfit for five months. Don’t make any of those mistakes luckily as I’m so new to the sport. I struggle with Thrusters due not managing a full grip but through stretching and mobility work its getting easier. Question: I go to crossfit class 6 outta 7 days a week should I be looking to have more Recovery time, or is it okay to train this many days… Can you advise on this please..
strong girls, but weak men. conclusion cross fit is for pussies
Oh I’ve heard of crossfit, I’ve heard it’s a one way street to SnapCity.
I’ve been doing crossfit for 3 months. I’m 43, I’ve worked out since high school and I’m in good shape…..or so I thought. My first 2 months, I didn’t give 2 rips about what others were doing. I was just happy to finish these brutal WOD’s, but then it happened. A fellow crossfitter that was set up right next to me DEFINITELY miscounted on some reps. I say miscounted because I like to give the benefit of the doubt and I don’t think he was cheating.
Anyways, that did me in. Ever since that incident, I’ve been consumed with the leader board (#5) and it’s led into Plateau panic (#2)
I’ve also realized that at 43, I cannot maintain the intensity of the 20 somethings. That was a tremendous hit to my pride.
Thanks for the video, it was very relevant.
Hey there!! Thank you for posting this video! I will be doing my very first CrossFit class (actually my first 6 classes will be working one on one with a trainer about fundamentals, technique all that important stuff but also throwing in a workout as I’m learning) at 5am this Monday!!! I super excited but also scared! Good vibes only!
I cannot squat deeply due to ankle impingement. Without squat shoes I can’t squat properly, coupled with long femurs
It should be called the SteroidFit games. They only do urine tests and only before the actual competition. Brilliant!
I am 54, have been doing CrossFit for almost 6 month…. I am most guilty of avoiding the things that I hate…. although I am trying more of the specific movement… it’s slowly improving
Love handles
Spare tire = pneuzinho.
Jacked = musculoso.
Dumbbell = haltére.
Pushup = flexão.
So surely wouldn’t you say mixing Crossfit sessions with Hypertrophy focussed gym sessions (Upper/Lower split for example) is the best way forward?
I was a bodybuilder and done a few show… just started CrossFit during this lockdown and I 100% agree with video! My body feels 100 times better and healthy plus I’m enjoying the session because they ain’t boring!!
Great video. I’be been researching CrossFit for myself for about 4-5 months. Today was my 1st Fundamentals class. I hate burpees
I agree most if but if you have a weak knee, it makes a huge different if you have a good running shoes when you need to run!
All those comments are so dumb lmao…
1) Not everyone does crossfit for the gains… some people care more about being healthy then about having a shit ton of muscles ( steroids… ) but still have the condition of my grandma…
2) You only get injuries in crossfit if you’re doing the exersise wrong.
3) You can get shredded with Crossfit, diffrence is that bodybuilders use steroids and Crossfiters do it the natural way by eating healthy etc… ( I know bodybuilders eat healthy to but we don’t use steroids… )
4) I don’t get it why everybody is hating on kipping…
It’s not “wrong” it’s just a different way. Crossfit invented the kipping ( still very hard to do )… Just because we invent an new exersise doesn’t mean it’s “wrong”, also we do use strict-pull-ups…
Come with some new arguments why crossfit is “bad”… And pls is don’t come at me with the same lame excuses/arguments.
#1: I still have to see a wod i don’t like or love even. And we can’t see the wod’s until we get to the gym.
#2: Those pr’s may be great, but i’m not that interested in it
#3: I only have some relativley old running shoes and that’s it… (oh and some resistance bands for home training, haha)
#4: I have a skipping rope but it’s a plastic cord… Guess it wasn’t the best buy…
#5: Might be the only mistake i sometimes make… I’m pretty competitive and that’s not always good…
I am in my 4th month of crossfit, so just finding out all sorts of new stuff and really enjoying it. Also all the good YT channels like this one help me alot, so thanx for that.
Yes! Having my own skipping rope is something I’ve been putting off up until watching this video! Oh, and I only ever look at my workouts once my gym shoes are on & tied. Stay in the moment!
Another brilliant and informative video, I’m a CF LV1 coach, I coach at an affiliate in cyprus and your bang on when you say people skip sessions when they see what the workout is. Need to train you weakness to improve. Only cheating yourself.
hey bro, what do you suggest through your experience and living with the best, for those who want to enter the crossfit world, I do crosstraining but I need an extra. not in terms of competition, but in terms of overcoming, building a healed body. I have seen your videos. I give a lot of importance to the correct and not too aggressive movements, but I want my training to be much better and to be able to do most of the crossfit exercises. you are a machine. strong hug.
So helpful!! I literally just started lazt week, I’m older than most of the other Crossfitters and was getting discouraged right away. It helps to have a direction on how to improve. I’m looking forward to seeing my progress!
Ive been doing CF for about 2 years now, just recently started taking it seriously. I’ve made all these mistakes. I saw all the other people in the gym with their gear, so I thought, dude, I need gear too! Hated running, skipped those 1 mile runs WODs, compared myself to the others that I started with, but neglected to be honest with myself that they put in the work that I didn’t…I do need to get my own jump rope. And I will check out the links you suggested! Thank you!
I can’t watch J. Nippards vids. His voice is so annoying .
I agree with Karen Rektor. Just like other forms of exercise like Yoga, Pilates, Running, etc., Crossfit is NOT for everyone. Simple marketing 101 teaches you that you can’t be all things to all people. I’ve experienced it, I’ve gotten hurt and I’ve helped many people recover from injuries from working out at Crossfit. There are certain people who have no business taking a Crossfit class. Period. I would be disappointed if Crossfit negates that fact.
Thanks for this. great tips. Did crossfit years ago for 3-4 years loved it. Life happened long story short getting back into it. Funny how all 5 tips I failed at but at our box we has this quote which said “Leave your ego at the door” So your competition is yourself..
Over the years I remembered everytime on my way to the gym I was always nervous. So wish me luck.
dude, what is PR? do not use lingo if this is for beginners like me! Explain any lingo so we can beginners get your message clearly.
My big mistake: skipping when there’s running but now I’m challenging myself to do it even though I take forever with the running ♀️
We loved this video. We have such a hard time helping people know what CrossFit is here in the Middle East. http://youtu.be/DVd_ScnP9vg Our video shows how fast CrossFit is growing in the Middle East. We hope to host the first L1 here in Jordan in the next few months! Hope you enjoy it! The CrossFit Crescent teamAmman, Jordan
Is it to late to start crossfit at 41? I’ve been going to gym but want better results faster. Like when I was younger and in the army.
I’ve been crossfitting for 7weeks now, I like this sport cuz I thing its the right sport style for me, not a big fan of high oly lifts reps, thanks for the valuable advices you delivered by this video, but since my hands keeps get skinned constantly I think I will depend on hand gribs:)
Im just starting to do my research, I want to go to Cross fit in January (Theres a reason why not now) but I don’t know how to start. also what does PR mean?
I love hearing that people hate running (that’s me). I am committed to run more this year… good video and I feel like I’m on track.
Been doing CrossFit since April of last year. Definitely still a newbie. I have definitely been guilty of cherry picking wods… or so I think. I was wrong many times and would hate a workout I had cherry picked and was sure I’d like it excel at on the other hand I’ve loved wods that I absolutely dreaded and was sure I’d be terrible at. I really liked this video. I will be purchasing my own rope for sure. Any recommendations on preventing/managing foot cramps? Tends to happen most with burpees and lunges, sometimes skipping. Anything that requires that stabilizing of the feet I guess.
are people still looking for the best ting -. Jesus Christ just go workout…
Hi adam! I love your lessons.I just have one question to ask u.pls pls help me out on this.
1)can i use “please suggest me…”?/”can u suggest me this/that”?
Teacher Adam,I am a teacher from Iran…
I use to watch your videos, they are really useful….
Send you my deepest gratitude❤️❤️❤️❤️
Then why, pray tell, do people continue to suffer from this condition? Clearly the answer is unsafe work out practices that do not allow the body to recover properly. You can evangelize CrossFit all you want, but you will never ever convince me it is safe.
Quick tip to grow your channel more. Your thumbnails and content are awesome but maybe throw some words on the screen. When explaining muscles hit, have them listed on the screen make things more visual as you’re explaining. Otherwise awesome stuff
I have been crossfitting for just over a year & my one mistake was obsessing about what other people were able to do that I couldn’t. Luckily I have a good coach who quickly set me right!
I have to say that this is good advice. I definitely will be bringing my own jump rope to class lol I’m new tp crossfit, but I appreciate how amazing it is! And its so great to see people hit their PRs! And to see many of us keep on workin out and having fun with it!
I am brand new at crossfit. I just joined a club and got my 3 intro and did my first real class this morning. I love it so far. Thanks for your video, good information. Oh and I’m 68. LOL
I would do crossfit if the rules were the same as fight club. You know…where we don’t talk about crossfit.
I work at a CrossFit Citrus Park. I have been a member since October 2014
thanks so much adam! it is my third time here to do revision. i really like the way you teach. it is so clear. hope it can encourage you:)
No thanks… I don’t think I’d lose weight with crossfit because of all the cheese. It was clear in the video
I look at this and think, ” What would a person who is overweight feel walking into one of these boxes?” Because all I see are people who are already very fit…
I’m mexican, but i wanna Star a gym bussines and this video is pretty Useful
If I go to spoken english class, I’m called a student in the class. In the same way, if I go to gym, then what am I called?
Should I join CrossFit even if I’m overweight? I’m 5’6 and weight 195. Or is too dangerous and might get hurt?!!!! Thanks.
Could you please mark the final score in your quiz in green?
I think it would look better.
1. Skipping workout you hate
2. Plateau Panic
3. Becoming Gear Dependant
4. Not Buying a Jump Rope
5. Leaderboarding
“If you go to a crossfit gym, everybody loves you” “They don’t let you quit”
I think Scientology has the same deal.
Shots fired! But for real, been following yall for years from Huntsville, Alabama USA. Y’alls content has just got better and better for entertainment as well as for legit help with my training.
Very good but we need a vedio about exercises name like pull ups, push ups…. etc
Have you ever heard the old adage, “Don’t knock it until you try it”? Almost 2 years in and it’s been life changing for me.
I laugh at people who think crossfit ruins gains. More then half the women who do crossfit limit their time working out because they fear of becoming a masculine woman. I love crossfit because it’s fun in my opinion! Siting there for hours working on specific muscles at a gym might be fun for you but to me that’s extremely boring! I need something raw and fast and if that injures me, so be it. It’s worth every moment because I find it fun!
Oh wow! There are some words that I didn’t know honestly.. It was kind of funny to know about the Spare tire and Moffin top ha ha..
Did 1) Jump rope! Yep, learned that and bought my own. 2) comparing myself to others. I now focus on quality, not speed.
Just pick either Olympic lifting, Strongman, powerlifting or bodybulding. Trying to be good at all of these (crossfit) is a fools errand and never leads anywhere productive
You lost me at 2:25, those were pro CrossFit athletes, I was watching Rich Froning and a few others vids and the pros do multiple sessions a day and have dedicated strength sessions with accessory work which gives them that pump. Now, I’ve seen normal gym goers do 1hr sessions 5 days a week, have bodies like pro crossfit guys, note I’m not talking about fitness. At 90min sessions which have a 30min cardio component I sit at sub 10% body fat. My point is that bodybuilding is optimized for just that and CrossFit requires more work to look like a bodybuilder and be good at CrossFit. Now, add in drugs and the difference is even more pronounced, there was an Australian Crossfit athlete booted from the games for testing positive and his body looked like a lower level pro bodybuilder.
Is correct to say: I would like to do a membership? Ou I haver o say I want to became a member?
Im a female been doing bootcamp hits for 2 yrs and plautued. Started crossfit month ago and started to gain weight doing vigorous cardio more than bootcamp but also lifting heavier than bootcamp 10 lb dumbells and 10 lb kettle bells. I need to loose 15lbs asap as not able to run with this weight. I cannot afford to plautue now so do I leave crossfit and come back after loosing the weight because my diet is actually on tact. To the core? Ty I just do not need to GAIN more weight and not fit in my clothes due to a program that promises a lot and I see it on others but just don’t want to creep up more weight as clothes not fitting. Hypothyroid or do I just do the cardio workouts for now and skip the lifts as lifting does cause weight gain
Skipping workouts with running, but now I just come and do them. I even did a strong viking run 13km’s with my box this summer. Still hate running, but now I can hate on it with an entire group of people.
Ans not buying a jump rope and when i did i cut it too short so I’m back at not owning a jump rope.
You are a good teacher with impressive features catching the attention of listeners. Keep on teaching. We love your videos very much. It is exciting and helping.
Best thing to ever happen to chiropractors & physiotherapists…
CrossFit.
Crossfit pull ups or whatever the fuck you call it looks fucking hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m going to say this is a classic example of nucleus overload.
Good job, Adam. Who wants an extra video about working out, enjoy. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pTsmOjfCFwcworkout
I don’t like the idea of “workout of a day”. but I do like the idea of being able to do many different things.
So, I am still learning english, andI want to ask. If someone’s using a machine I want to use in the gym, what can I ask them in order to sound polite and also utilize the same machine.
“I love it cause the workout is different every day. I can come in, and I don’t know what I’m doing.”
Yeah…
This is a nice lesson for beginners, maybe you can do a lesson emphasizing on common gym conversations, like sharing machines, buying a subscription, asking for help etc. Thank you:)
i work out and i believe i have heart that natives use bar for barbell. is that correct?
Thank you so much for the info. I just started CF 2 mths ago. I’m enjoying the added challenge to my workout regimen. Do you think 3 days a week is sufficient to take CF if you are doing other classes or your own workout twice a week?
Adam bulk up is in offseason bodybuilders eate more junk food so they gain fat not muscles:D
It was funny “love handles”. I don’t want to explain more….
@deeshmond said it ‘Crossfit is definitely helpful for building muscle but definitely not the most optimal method’ I totally agree on this and I do Crossfit 5 times a week.
Jeff Nippard is the best. Combine crossfit with strength training for optimal gains.
I knew it!!! I have been saying I need to buy my own rope but thought I’d come off like a snob about it[just started at the gym]. Thanks for the advice.
Love this Adam. My favourite words are “Toned”, “Shredded” and “Ripped”.
Hey Team Hustle made, if i wanted to find someone to build this type of workout for me. Do you have someone in mind that could for me? I travel for work and limited for resources. Mostly a small hotel gym! Keep everything you guys are doing for us, Thank.
Anyone know if he has done a video on how to program crossfit workouts and plan routines to improve your shape and fitness? I have no clue how to get started and how to program a crossfit workout
Hi Adam! I feel really happy with your lesson, you helped me out a lot cause I’m brazilian and I have a friend at the gym who I always use to talk in English with, and we now can speak the gym vocabulary correctly.
Keep on with this great job.
Bless you 😉
