You will simply remove some of the fat that covers up your muscle. Training: Finally, those big bulky muscles you see are not achieved without spending many, many hours in the gym lifting very heavy weights. Lifting weights for 30 to 45 minutes, 2 to 3 times a week will not make you bulk up.The American College of Sports Medicine recommends at least two resistance training workouts per week on non-consecutive days using free weights, machines, resistance bands or body weight. Each workout should have eight to 10 exercises working each muscle group.
Work in the eightto 12-repetition range to build muscle. Step 2.Begin in a straddle stance with your knees bent and feet wide, and your toes pointing slightly outward. Shift your weight onto your right leg while straightening your left leg.
Round your arms.If you’re looking for the quickest and easiest way to sculpt and strengthen your entire upper body without bulking up, improve your posture, and increase your flexibility so you can move more freely, welcome! I am very overweight and just starting a vegan lifestyle. I have given birth to 3 very big boys ( from 4,5 4,9 kg at birth and 55 and 56 cm long!!!) My stomach looks really awful. I probably have to operate to fix my stomach, but I really would like some advice to how to build muscle all over first. Is there hope for me. I’ve gained four pounds since weight training three months ago and with a history of an eating disorder, it does scare me. But the truth is.. if you look at pilates instructors and ballerinas they are more lithe looking and lean.. but with those who lift weights especially on Instagram their legs look more muscular and bigger compared to how ballet dancers train and look. I keep reading and getting told that lifting weights wont make you bulky but I’ve seen it for myself and other women.. that’s simply not accurate and its misinformation. The thing that isnt often talked about with muscles is how many people are using drugs to gain. i do want to get muscles and lose fat and learning that it will take years was pretty demotivating for a while. when hollywood is telling us that you can go from potato to thor in 3 months its easy to think that we will change quickly but the truth is that they ARE working hard but 100% theyre juicing

When i first starting in the gym id spend half my time doing cardio and then some light-weight weight training because i was scared of the weights section, it was full of big blokes! Nothing was happening to my body shape, so i changed my routine. Now I barely touch cardio, full on weight training with the blokes and i LOVE it. I’ve noticed such a difference in my legs/glutes and my arms are getting there! All the girls out there that are scared of the weights section dont be! No one is going to judge you or be looking at you we’re all focused on our own thing if anything I now have more fun social interaction in the gym!

I can lift 80 kg squat and deadlift, 40 in benchpress (for a few years) and my arms still look like baby groot arms, most likely I wont need to worry. But tbh all my body is really lean, I have hard gaining weight of any kind.

Great video! But! It is really possible to get “bigger”. I am a type who is building muscle quite easily. And without very controlled diet i get too big very easily because i can gain fat all over my muscles. Considered the fact that im quite short and… Ugh
This is so important. I never weight myself but today they weighted me at my gym and after a month and a week of 2 hour training sessions 5 days a week, I weighted the exact same 72,5kg as when I started. It was disheartening but I also feel my clothes getting loose and I’m dressing one size smaller 38. I feel really good overall but for a moment I was terrified that all these changes I’m going through inside didn’t show on the outside.
I do a lot of strength training, doing 3-4 reps per set. I’m not gaining much size at all and I’m losing fat

Hey Natacha! I would like to say that I got bulky from lifting weights…it took me a long time of cardio, dropping the weights, and being in a caloric deficit to get rid of the excess muscle. My arms and my quads got huge!!! But I usually did 3×12 so maybe that’s why. I lifted for years and I rock climbed, so maybe that’s another factor-my shoulders were very big as well. Because I got huge! I’ve lost like 15 pounds of pure muscle and I look so much better lol.

sorry, i’m confused. i’ve been trying to research how to best lean/tone out my arms, and i understand you need to lose fat to be able to see the muscle. i also have learned that you can’t spot reduce fat, so doing all of these excercises, is it not burning fat off of your arms? if i only do these kind of excercises, will it just build the muscle up under the fat but i won’t see it? and i’ll need to do cardio to burn off fat off my entire body to be able to see the work i did on my arms?
Here’s the thing, as a girl no matter how much you workout of lift or anything as a woman you aren’t going to get bulky. Which sucks because women who want to get the bulk it’s very hard for them, so you aren’t going to ever get bulky muscles from lifting weights

I’m building all these great muscles but there’s still a stubborn couple inches of fat on top of them that is incredibly frustrating…so I feel like the more my muscles grow the more the fat sticks out (lower abdominals, quads, triceps). Please help. I’ve been training consistently for two years.

one comment i’d like to make to all the people out there (cuz not all guys wanna get big) is that getting your arms bigger is almost something you have to actively aim for. because if you are in a calorie deficit your body will be hard pressed to put on muscle, unless you’re wildly out of shape/overweight (like i was). when i started losing weight and lifting weights i noticed my arms getting stronger in terms of what weight i could lift, but my arms were getting smaller. it’s because the body fat around my arms was going away and muscle takes up less space than fat.
similarly when my gf was complaining about a flabby spot on her arms i told her to start lifting weights with me a couple of days a week. she worried she was going to get big arms and i explained to her that at her weight (120 lbs) getting big wasn’t going to happen as long as she maintained weight. sure enough the flab got a little firmer and she started liking her arms a lot more. body re-composition for the win.

I am one of few in my family that has an over active metabolism and when I first started going to the gym they’d judge me so much and say I dont need it because I’m small. I would try to explain “skinny fat” to them and they just couldn’t understand.

Hi Natacha! I train 2-3 times a week since almost a year and since then, I gained a little bit of weight, like 2-3 kg because my appetite has increased and I still hold on to fat. What should I do? I don’t eat junk food and I eat pretty healthy. Maybe I eat too much? But I don’t think I eat more than 2000 calories a day, let’s say 2200 max. It is still ok, isn’t it?

Doesn’t the amount of muscle you put on depend on your body type? Moderate weight training for me makes a big difference in my muscle mass since I have a naturally muscular physique. Of course it will differ from person to person though
I watched this video last summer as my upper body became so muscular that I was embarrassed to walk around in a tank top. I talked myself out of it and kept working out my upper body for another year…Fast forward one year later and I’m still hating my muscular upper body. I will stop working out my upper body now (was doing 3 upper body sessions a week). My shoulders are crazy man (like boulders). For me it’s genes. Wish me luck. Thanks for the motivation:)

The fact is that women just don’t have the hormones to get bulky. I get so annoyed when people tell me I’m going to get big. Nope, been at this for a year and I can hardly tell a difference. Even the female body builders still aren’t HUGE, and it takes them soooooo much work to get to that state, like you said.

It is almost impossible for women to get bulky, women you WANT well defined, muscular arms/shoulders it looks beautiful. You would have to like take steroids and put in ridiculous amounts of work to look bulky like a man.
my arms are really muscular, but they just look big and bulky cause they have quite a bit of fat on them. But my tummy is pretty lean so it’s hard cause I dont wanna lose too much fat because then I don’t have enough tummy fat to keep a period:/

So what is new with women trying to look smaller in every way possible be it with weight loss or exercise…it makes me really worried especially when I see an example of someone like this who was already fit and went for leaner. Ok, your preference, good. But generally this is just making me sad. Men have the privilege of gaining mass and being praised of it. We are still stuck on women with hourglass figures and other than breasts and hips, thinness all around. If you’re wondering, I’m probably a size more than the woman in video and actually have hourglass shape but this is making me depressed. Too many women with eating disorders and body image issues for me to be enthusiastic about this.

Her arms have muscle and definition but don’t look bulky. I think part of this contributes to the fact that she is lucky enough to be well endowed when it comes to her chest. Her chest balances out her arms and still makes her look feminine but for someone like me who is small breasted, arms like hers could look too masculine and bulky. For small chested girls, the really lean and long arm look looks better, in my opinion

I’m trying to lose muscle mass, on my legs and arms. I do a lot of cardio and do lose weight ( water weight even) easily, but I feel that my body still looks the same. My biceps, yea and I’m not bragging have always seemed massive. I know it can be diet relatedas I do eat junk food, carbs, starches, sweets, but I try eating leaner, but still nothing. So I was doing resistance training for a while mostly on the bike and elliptical. All resistances in between 5-8 various times during the week. Then I watched this and realised that it’s possible for me to lose it doing ( steady state cardio) or no resistance and jogging or running to reduce thigh size. And eat less. This is correct.. yes?

Hi Abby. How did you change your chest or upper body workout in general after breast augmentation? Doctors, as well as other trainers, discourage any sort of upper pec workout post augmentation. Not only during recovery, but as a general rule to avoid future complications. Especially for submuscular implants. Suggestions?

I’m having a really hard time. I’ve been skinny fat before and now I’ve been weight training for 6 months and I absolutely love the strength I have gained. I love how I can walk up the stairs sooo extremely quickly and easily now. But I have gained a lot of muscle in my legs. My core has become so much stronger as well and my waist has become really tight. Though I do still have body fat to lose and so my legs look bigger because of the fat as well and I know the fat is going to decrease, I am having a hard time because apparently having strong legs or just a little bit of muscle in your legs is not a standard of beauty. When you look at mannequins or models they always have very thin legs. Jeans are not even tailored to fit a tight stomach with muscular legs. It is so frustrating to me also because I really don’t like the way my legs look when I’m wearing a dress or jeans. I do want to stay this strong but I also don’t like having thick thigs and that is so hard to me right now. Why does the beauty ideal have to be weak stick legs?:( like what I’m trying to say: according to the beauty standard any kind of strong muscle in women’s leg look bulky really quickly
Great recommendations here! I workout in a small gym in my office building that is a bit limited. We have dumbbells abd benches but no barbells or cable machines. u mentioned “eat in moderation” what if someone has had a history of eating disorder wherein they eat less. like an anorexia or something. like I dot understand moderation. I feel I eat fine(waaaaaayyy better than before); I have increased 5 kgs now. So you repeat quite frequently that enhancing your muscle mass and decreasing your fat mass causes a greater metabolism. Well. It actually isn’t very much at all.
1 kg of fat tissue uses 4,5 kcal/day and 1 kg of muscle mass uses 13 kcal/day. So let’s say you build 5 kg (!!) muscle mass then this enhances your resting metabolism with 65 kcal/day. Which is not a whole lot..
With that said there are tons of other reasons why you should favor muscle mass over fat mass

I’m sorry to comment as I know it’s just my opinion but I think you do need to realise when you are body shaming and when you’re not and just talking about being “healthy” because being healthy doesn’t always mean changing yourself, it means loving yourself at whatever stage you’re at. as someone who did fitness and aerobic and hiit training for 2 years and lost 20 KG, i started lifting weights without considering any changes, i was eating healthier doing more workout and exercises and cardio but 2 years after i noticed that i got bulky drastically. my tights my shoulders my back were full of muscles. my booty has grown a lot but i gained 15 kG by far. so at first i was happy that these are muscle but wen i looked back to my previous pictures i realized i liked my body shape more that time. now a days i have problem with anything and also i couldn’t reduce my body fat percentage to 15 percent or lower everybody sees me as someone fat not muscular! because thick layers of fat are surrounding my muscles as someone who gains back weight easily that was not a good option for me. i thing weight training is great for those who are starting with low % of body fat and want to look curvy and.. for those who have a lot of weight to lose or can gain back those weight easily its not a good option. hope this helped you

I view cardio as Heart Day. You see all these big bodybuilders doing leg days, chest days, back days, etc. But they walk around huffing and puffing, they’re forgetting to also train their heart!

I have being lifting for 5 years, and I am very strong, lean, but I am still underweight… I have trouble putting on muscle but I have gain 5 kg in the process =] so it is something. I started with stronglift, and now I do a mix of both, like you, and I do like it so much more.

Also LOL at potatoes. I live in New Zealand so our summer growing season is short and winter is mild. We grow beans, broccoli and kale really well but nothing tropical. I would only eat a fully raw meal about 3 times a year when it’s 30 celsius in summer.

I’m a sprinter and I was born with a lot of muscles especially my calf’s. I gain muscles easily and I can’t seem to lose them. I would eat less, lose weight, gain weight but no matter what I try they won’t go away. I could lose 30 pounds and my calf’s would still be the same. Its starting to drive me crazy because I really don’t want them and there starting to get on my nerves.

If it’s muscle I hate my life because idk how to lose it I was born with it that means because I don’t train arms, if it’s fat, it’s annoing but I can get rid of it. I have an endomorphic body type and gain muscle like nothing. What helps me stay slender is cardio and body weight/HIIT exercises. When I do strength training I keep it low weight high rep. I generally keep my macros balanced at 40/40/20, but I don’t strategically track anything..
If anyone else has the same body type as me, you should try these tips out.
I can really relate because I used to ice skate which requires really strong quads for jumps because being able to jump doubles and triples needs strong legs to jump high enough. After quitting ice skating I ended up with extremely big quads and so I can really relate because I have a relatively small body and my thighs are really unbalanced compared to my upper body and arms.

I have always been an all or nothing type of gal when it comes to my diet, I always get down on myself for having a “cheat meal.” This is something I definitely want to work on this year I want a more balanced and relaxed diet where I’m not constantly thinking about food. I’ve also been doing your workout split (2 leg days, 2 push days, 2 pull days, strength training at the beginning of the week and hypertrophy training at the end of the week) and I am loving it! It works so well for me and I think it fits by goals best
Tbh, for my personal preference, my goals are your before. Your after looks amazing, no doubt! It really suits you and lets your waist taper in.
I have a pretty large head (its very wide bc my jaw and cheekbones are wide) and I love bulkier arms and shoulders, since then my head won’t look too wide anymore (perspective) and my waist would actually be better pronounced since I have a square shaped body. (I am a literal square, I have no waist definition…) and obviously working on the hips and booty will help create that hourglass shape.

My leg shape really is making me insecure. It is big for my thighs and it wasn’t proportion. I couldn’t wear shorts because of it. I don’t really know why my legs are like growing and thickening even if I’m not really doing intense cardio. Sometimes I’m thinking about if there is any surgery just to make my legs slim or make it proportion to my body. I’ve got a muscular legs like a man. I don’t know what to do.. Some people tease me because of this, so every time I wear a tight jeans I can only expect them to look at my large legs. I’m losing self confidence because of it.

Good points. You look really strong! Doing the weights you do WILL give that strong look. If someone is going for more a ballerina look then cycling up hills and around town is more helpful.

I do really really want to get big muscles and i love weight training but I am a girl and I do not want to bulk up and look masculine.. I just want to look delicate once i lose the weight but I just want to lift heavy too:D..
I didn’t have any money as a kid and did what I could.. chin ups push up, crunches. At one point, I had a wooden dowel with things hanging from it, can’t recall. My parents bought me a 110 lb set with the concrete filled weights for my bday. That was really something.

This is horrible advice. You didn’t explain anything all you did was rant. You didn’t give any tips about how to work out or any tips about nutrition. You need to go and watch other videos that give much better advice than you do. They break things down and explain how to workout and how to eat. I would never subscribe to your Channel all your videos suck!!!

Depends on your body type, if I do more than 10 even on mid heavy weights I bulk up

Would you think I should recover before training with weights? This happened to meI am bigger boned and when I started lifting a couple times a week I definitely felt bulky I looked even thicker and things were tighter on me. You have a small ideal body type that builds lean muscle but this is not the case with everyone. I was by no means a body builder but looked like one

I’m not sure if I posted this question anywhere else but I have a huge problem with working out my shoulders with weights to build muscle and they end up tinier, I do work out the rest of my arm but I feel like theyrr becoming huge in comparison, so my shoulders looks skinny and leading down to the bicep and all it looks fat and everything looks uneven. How do I try and balance things? Do I do less shoulder workouts and more bicep/tricep workouts? It just feels like muscle accumulated and made it look bulky and fat instead

To have bulky arms and true strength you have to work out your shoulders and fore arms to
i used to do with bucket of water or stones, u can add as much weight u want gradually, cheap easy for biceps and shoulders abs, wrap some thing sturdy soft on handle to make it bigger and softer, i used piece of rubber pipe wrapped on its handle. then cloth. I use bag too, as my weights has ended i cant add more o to these dumbles they will break, but u can have heavy kit bag or that soft bulky traveling bag made of parachute or cloth, u can add as much heavy garments or stuff in it. u can use old car tube for resistance training.
