I’ve never heard of a gut health IV before! Would have loved to hear more about that
What protein alternatives can one have on a vegan elimination diet?
Thank you for pointing out the ONE reintro at a time thing, so many people miss this.
I did an elimination diet 4 years ago. I found an issue with wheat and at the time my doctor said I should go gluten free which I have. Since then my doctor moved and have not found another interested in working with me. Although many symptoms have subsided I still have a cough that I can’t get rid of. I am thinking about doing this diet again to see if some type of food is bothering me.
How should you introduce it? One at a time you mean for ex. a handful of nuts in the morning and then wait aprox. 72 hours to see how you react to it?
I have an auto-immune disease (Multiple Sclerosis) and would be very interested in seeing some video’s about an anti-inflammatory (elimination diet), I am following the OMS diet ( https://overcomingms.org/recovery-program/diet/) at the moment but I’d like to dig deeper in what I react to exactly, I know I’m lactose intolerant and the OMS diet already eliminates that.
Very interested in this subject.
Off topic but omg watch Jorge rogan experience podcast episode 901 and go like 30-40 mins in. She is awesome!
This video was great!:) I recently started seeing a nutritionist and she has started me on an elimination-esque diet that we will be periodically checking in on. This video really helps explain the importance of the diet and what the hope achievements will be.:) Thanks for putting it together.
i bring my lunch to work to be safe always but i feel some coworkers think im nuts
that is why i did elimination diet for two weeks. you explained so throughly. certain foods bother as i got older. I told my doctor last year and went to the allergist too. it was dairy related im not lactose or anything i drink skim but never and not much shellfood. im so haply i came across your channel over a year and half ago. i will email you soon in another week.
This testing is really not that useful. It is not a surprise that your immune response levels gone down since you didnt eat that foods aymore ♂️
I fully agree with the rest. I just think there are way better tests to find out about your gut issues
We are so programmed by “western medicine” we feel if it doesn’t show results right away that it isn’t working. The point to remember is that these are long-term changes because of your particular body and probably over a VERY long time of of consuming those foods, the damage is done. And it isn’t even so much that you cannot have these foods. period. But more that when & if you do imbibe them it should be in moderation & infrequently. It would be interesting for you to compare your food restrictions to what are the guidelines for you as per the Dr D’Adamo “Blood Type Diet” (BTD, http://www.dadamo.com )… this explains why even various “Superfoods” may not be the best choice for your particular self vs others…
Hey sky, I have been really stressed out this past year. But watching your video on meditation, it inspired me to try, so I downloaded headspace and tried for 10 minutes, and it was amazing, and because of you my life will be a lot better!
may i ask where you went to become a dietician? I want this as my next step into my career just so unsure of where to go.
high antibodies low thyroyd and adrinal glad is what’s led me to trying an elimination diet. I would love to hear more about the immune system in relationship to food.
wow, i wish my doctor sounded this interested lol if you could do a video on IBS that will be very much appreciated:-)
Would LOVE more videos on elimination dieting for autoimmune disorders. Was diagnosed with Lupus a year ago and many things I’ve read on elimination dieting is confusing… lots of different info floating around. Thanks for this video Kara!
There’s a lot of cross contamination in restaurant kitchens.
I’ve done one of these and it helped me determine I had a dairy allergy. Also, I feel better when I don’t eat beans.
you are seriously amazing Kara! i have been watching you for years. Thank you for being you.
This could have not come at a better time. I’m bloated feel uncomfortable headaches feel like vomiting. it’s horrible. I was wanting to start this weekend but I also looked at aloe Vera gel to drink it before every meal
what are your thoughts on it?
So clear and informative Kara! Thanks for another excellent RD talk
I would be interested in you talking about/reviewing the Whole30, its so popular.
How are we going to make sure that if one of the allowed food causes the problem. I have uc and if my symptoms still continues what will I do?
thanks for the information! I’m doing an elimination diet rightnow (recommended by my naturopath) with peas/pea protein and then soy next. Since starting flexible dieting I’ve had to basically double my normal protein intake, and products with pea protein and hydrolyzed soy protein have helped a lot… except that I’m so bloated that I feel awful all the time. I have a history of SIBO and candida that is a contributing factor as well. I’d love to see a video on SIBO and candidaI’ve battled with these gut issues for about 6 years now and it’s been tough.
Nice video. I had JRA and Inflammatory Bowel Disease for 5 years. Then I went to an integrative doctor who put me on an elimination diet for 21 days, and my autoimmune diseases went into remission. Today, 4 years later, I feel better than ever. I would HIGHLY Recommend an elimination diet (with an integrative doctor’s oversee) if you have autoimmune diseases.
Awesome video as always! I am def skeptical of health services like this so it is very nice to see your opinion! I would love to see some content on adaptogens or an ayurvedic diet (I dont thinkkk ive seen you do this yet but please correct me if I am wrong! On a side note kweeeeeen your eyelashes are mesmerizing!
This testing package https://recomerz.com/en/go/4owpv will analyse your hair sample against over 350 foods. Give it a try!
Truth there is a cure for all illness and disease dr. Otto Warburg Nobel Prize science 1931 Frugivores.
Fructivore, omnivore, carnivore, only one of the three, man is capable of sustaining in all three.
Being true to the one you are is a life with no illness or disease!!!
Could you please do a video on foods that may cause acne? A lot of people say when they cut certain foods out of their diet and/or go vegan, their skin/acne gets miraculously better??
This video was good. I believe I have a food sensitivity to bananas. I have eaten a banana and have had severe stomach cramps and have almost passed out from it but I have not seen a doctor for this yet.
Great video Kara! An elimination diet has helped me immensely with my arthritis and hormones (still a work in progress though as I had to heal my digestive system first) but on the way to much better health and feeling good!
Looking forward to hearing more about this topic from you!!
i’m starting to feel like im allergic to everything except meat. IF i eat any grains i get super stuffed up nose and bloated like a pregnant guy. If i drink any milk or eat rice i get bloody noses super bad. Certain vegetables seem to make me sneeze and have a runny nose a while after eating them too. also anything with caffiene like coffee, or even tea makes me extremely tired and my eyes burn and makes my asthma worse.
yes! I’m so glad Kara, that you are studying this! it just feels alone, when going through this. crying a few times a week from pain or symptoms really takes a toll on your mentality, and I get a like, hate, for food.. did I see a fit bit? if so I know your gonna talk more on that too, and I’m excited. so love your channel! Thank You!
G’morning KaraNation. Hope it’s a great start to the day. In my early 20’s I did this and found the usual culprit of dairy mainly milk. this should bring a lot of clarity to ones overall gut health.
Thank you SO much for sharing your knowledge and insight on this topic, Kara I always love your Dietitian Talk videos:) Under the supervision and advice of my gastroenterologist and general practitioner, I eliminated gluten from my diet. It turns out that gluten was indeed causing me to have Crohn’s flare-ups; and now that I keep gluten out of my diet, my Crohn’s is back in remission and the flare-ups are seldom. This is why I hate that gluten-free has become an eye-rolling fad diet Celiacs and folks like me (gluten intolerant with a serious, lifelong digestive condition) actually NEED to keep it out of our diets.
I’ve had digestive issues and horrible gas/bloating off and on for a couple years. After several doctors appointments, specialists (gastroenterologist included) testing, etc. we still don’t know the culprit. I’ve tried eliminating one item at a time, but not seen much/any improvement. Doctor recommended doing a Whole30 or low FODMAP to help pinpoint my issues and I honestly just can’t bring myself to do either. They are SOOOO restrictive. Restriction leads to other issues for me (including binge eating.) Strangely the foods I’m least interested in giving up are my veggies like Cauliflower, brussels sprouts, broccoli + onions and garlic. These are regular if not daily occurrences. There’s got to be a way to do a partial elimination or something. I like the idea of picking a couple things and doing 3 weeks without, then rotating to something else. Yet 3 weeks without cauliflower?! I just might die. Well, maybe not… but doesn’t sound fun to me! It would require a tremendous amount of planning ahead, otherwise I’ll crave all my favorites.
I have been wanting to start an elimination diet for awhile now. Lots of belly issues from foods but can not determine what it is. Debating doing Dr Junger’s clean program but 2 shakes a day and only one meal mentally f’s me up. Are you planning on working with clients in this issue? I love your approach of honesty with a bit of warmth.
whhaaat… I’m literally starting an elimination diet tomorrow.
I even looked for a good youtube vid the other day (I was too early). ❤❤
So I can’t tolerate the protein in milk. So not lactose intolerant. So even though I don’t get hives and resp issues, I get headaches bad stomach aches tired etc
Can I still call it a Protein allergy (casein) or is it still an intolerance??
To those watching this video: most spices have wheat, sugar, msg etc in them check the label, or you will be eating ‘invisible’ allergens and the whole diet is would be pointless.
To the gentleman who made this video thank you! Great and informative summary.
I live in a small town no farmers market and only one grocery store, no organic meat. Plus the coronavirus is making normal meat so expensive:(
Dietitian Talk are some of my fave’s. Just so interesting! Keep em up, girl:)
Hmm this seems like something useful to do. Once I watched a dude telling how he was feeling fatigued all the time and only because of a food that wasn’t good for him. I gotta try this. Awesome video btw:)
This is a great video. Explains this elimination diet really well. Thanks
I just received my results for a good sensitivity test, and I’m only sensitive to dairy!!! I’m so grateful I only have to give up one thing for a few months. Starting my dairy free life tomorrow
Good stuff Kara as always…I had to eliminate certain fruits when I kept breaking out in a rash…we found high levels or concentrated grape juices were the culprit. Thankfully, I have been quite healthy and haven’t had to do it again…
I’m fascinated to know what is in a gut health IV I have never heard of it….I have an autoimmune issue and one of the tests recommended so I’m not working in the dark is to have a food sensitivity test…. btw there is a difference between an allergy test and a food sensitivity text and the food sensitivity test is the one to get…. Also I’ve been on an auto immune paleo diet to help eliminate my symptoms which has helped with the bloating, mood swings and at times the fatigue….. Thanks for sharing your journey
Didn’t have any idea what an Elimination diet was. Doesn’t really apply to me, but still an interesting topic and video. Nice to hear something completely new and off the wall different.
Please do a show about energetic healing modalities Neuromodulation technique nmt.md and total body modification..
There are several ways to assess sensitivities. Blood tests for igg iga or alcat. Energetic testing such as electrodermal screening and muscle testing are also helpful. I use both in my practice.
I have eosinophilic esophagitis. It’s an autoimmune disease in my esophagus that makes me sensitive to almost every kind of food. You name it, I most likely either allergic or sensitive to it.
There is no accurate test, waste of money. Only elimination diet works.
Soooo glad you posted this today! I was just talking to my husband yesterday about eliminating items from our diets because of some issues our son and myself are experiencing. Thank you for posting this!
Damn my heart would break.. I love eggs almonds and ginger too.
Cryo as in the blood product? Why do they think that is helpful for someone who doesn’t have any clotting issues? That’s very concerning to me, as cryo is usually used when patients are in surgery.
I’ve been having severe gut problems but I eat organic, gluten free and very little meats. How much do these tests cost and the IV looks interesting. Thanks for the health tips!
Aww, SweetPea, maybe you became allergic to those favorite things because you were consuming so much of them? (It’s the worst, right?) You may never believe it, but the Carnivore diet may be the best elimination diet. I’m 76 lbs down in 5 months w/no exercise other than ecstatic dance a few times, and never felt better (age 40 and feeling 25 daily)! And it’s better for the environment and animals than one might think, at a glance, but i trust that you will give it a looksee, even if you don’t tell anyone you did (; everyday i learn something new about the carnivore diet, the more my mind is blown! It’s actually what lead me to Wim Hof and then your channel, and you are speaking my language #SoulSisters
great video btw ive done an elimination diet when i found out i had hashimotos & it 100% is essential
It would be super cool if you tried one of the “affordable” at home food sensitivity tests (like the ones sold at Target) and compared the results to the professional one!
There’s no way I’ll ever do that. If they can tell me ginger’s bad, I’d rather not know.
Multiple gastroenterologists could do almost nothing for my stomach aches so my metabolic wellness doctor gave me one of these tests. It came up with so many sensitivities that it was almost impossible to avoid the foods: 8 severe, 11 moderate, 33 mild. But it made a huge difference. The list slowly became smaller and smaller over time and I’ve learned that some things will always be on my list, regardless.
I had already known about some of the sensitivities while others made perfect sense but there were one or two that did not. My doctor told me that it’s not perfect and can yield the occasional al false positive.
Test used: ALCAT from Cell Science Systems
i eat grilled beef and liver and boiled eggs… with salt… anything else is a problem to me… good luck…
Should I do it for post nasal drip and sneezing.I’m 77, and my daughter says I musn;t detox or fast at my age and release a whole lot of toxins at once.
That’s very interesting does the test also test the bacteria in the stomach? There is research that suggests that it’s passed from the parents during natural birth(non c section) that’s why I’m asking. I’m confused tbh maybe it does
love dietatian talk!! can you do one regarding intermittent fasting?!
Awe! I can’t help it, I have such a crush on her. She is adorably cute.
Super cool! I got allergy tested a few years back for nuts and fish and found I could eat pretty much all fish. Sushi is the best!
So is the concept that you can you can eat it after a while of not eating it? and how do you avoid developing these sensitivities going forward
https://www.gofundme.com/jesse-needs-a-wheelchair-vehicle If you will please share this and help me spread the word to help my son get a wheelchair accessible vehicle. ty
Do you know if the moderately severe foods you were consuming aligned against your Dosha type?
Girl, you are putting green yellow liquid in to your vein? There is a reason why these IV’s are not FDA approved. Yikes.
Haha auto captions say next hell instead of next health! I eliminated several foods 3 or 4 years ago and changed my life. It’s also important to understand why there is intolerance to some foods, it could be you are lacking certain compounds for enzymes to effectively break down the thing causing the intolerance.
