I’ve been om Creatine monohidrate for the past 6 months 5g/day after loading with 10g for 5 days. Doubled my gym weights and shortened my breaks b/n sets from 3 min to 30 sek, never had sore muscles even after a week break from gym. Also my arthritis and back pain went away.
Watched this video and tried to replace the monohidrate with the HCL. (its cheaper $15 for 400 servings vs Monohidrate $10 for 100 servings! I am taking it now for 3 weeks….. 750mg/day per recommended dosage.Guess what!? Now I feel tired at the gym, have to do longer breaks and lighter weights, and have constant light muscle soreness. My arthritis in the Lower back came back.I also lost 7LB for for the past 3 weeks with HCL. I am doing the same exact work out as before and eating the same food. let along the nasty taste of the HSL! It tastes like a lemon acid! I am quitting this S**T and going back to monohidrate version. HCL is not for me. I do not want to lose weight! I do not want sore muscles! There is not enough research done on HCL and other creatine forms, other than monohidrate. Only the Monohidrate version has bean researched for over 50 years now. I have used creatine for more then 25 years now. Yes it is hard on your kidneys if you do not use it properly. Most people have no clue how to use it and then find them selves with issues, like cramps is the most common. You do not need to do a loading phase, that is just a big money grab from companies. All you need is 5 grams a day 1 tsp half before work out and half after work out. You need to drink a lot of water through the day and more then you think. I my self drink 2-4 litres each day, i take my creatine with a smoothie, no powders whats so ever all natural protein with carbs and berries for some sugar. Creatine is absorbed better with a little sugar. Taking 5 grams a day will saturate you in about 7-10 days so no need to do this loading phase unless you like spending your money and like putting your kidneys in distress. And yes good creatine is a must, make sure it is pure monohydrate and micronized. Stay away from the garbage that is mixed with other stuff, their another money grab and really high in sugar to much sugar. Keep it simple is best. Creatine is a water retainer so stay a way from caffeine witch dehydrates. If you love coffie and caffiene drinks you will waste your money and time using creatine period. When used right you will keep a pump a lot longer and you will feel a great pump after you wake up and drink water. Lots of water is the key and will flush your body. Creatine is also not really meant for high indurance like marathons. Good luck and keep safe =)

Even though I disagree that creatine shouldn’t be supplemented with, it’s good to know that: quality of diet while supplementing and quality of supplement are important factors in protecting against possible negative consequences. A omnivorous diet actually only supply you 1 gram/day, and your body at most produces another gram a day. So I highly disagree with meat eaters not needing to supplement: superficial levels at 20 grams/day for the first week and then maintenance of 5 grams/day thereafter cannot be achieved naturally. Just sharing my thoughts, thanks for the vid!

Okay so honest question so I haven’t used creatine in probably 6 months long story short. That being said I’ve heard and read a ton of articles of when you do start using creatine start off with 20 grams a day. For 5 days and after that stick to I believe it’s 4-6 that being said. Would I take his two current products showing as a 10-10 split because I realize after your done with the 20 you can just do say 2.5 and 2.5. I’m just curious about the 20 Thanks
Honestly I dont think this is 100 % accurate I was taking all types of creatine for 30 days over nearly for 2 years I took a note on my body weight and muscle mass and it came out that creatine monohydrate was the best I took 5g a day with 400ml of water as soon as i woke up waiting 1 hour then did my work out.

I have used monohydrate,HCL, and Krealkalyne all of them worked great.The down side was that all 3 increased my creatinine levels to dangerous levels.I tried tri-creatine malate it worked just as well as the other 3 plus it lowered my creatinine to safer levels.
Just one correction with your information. The intestines are better at absorbing alkaline substances (higher ph). It’s the stomach that absorbs acidic things, so creatine hcl would be absobed via the stomach.

I am a huge fan and generally love your videos but i have to say that what you are saying here is sounds inaccurate.
The reason why creatine monohydrate does not dissolve in water straight away is due to the kinetics of the process (it is common for moderately polar organic compounds to take a bit longer to fully dissolve in water). The solubility of neutral creatine in water is somewhat close to 14 g per L of water at 20 deg C, meaning that there is plenty of water to make a normal dose of 3-5 g dissolve in your stomach and there is certainly enough time for it to dissolve before it reaches your intestines. Yes, the hydrochloride salt will dissolve straight away, but there should be no difference in the amount of creatine absorbed into your system. Creatine is both basic and acidic (switterionic) so in the presence of hydrochloric acid in your stomach, it will rapidly get converted to creatine hydrochloride after its dissolution.
I dont know if im missing something, this is just a guess from someone with years of experience in chemistry and a PhD in synthetic and analytical chemistry.

I’m with Will Brink on this subject, mix your monohydrate in a hot drink like tea or coffee and it dissolves much better.
Alot of people swear by creatine monohydrate because it is very cheap and studies have proven it to be effective. For me, it made me bloated as you’ve stated here & I was chugging an insane amount of water each day, granted I was working out very hard which is dehydrating in itself, but with the creatine monohydrate on top of that I began to feel ill after awhile.
I wish I saw this video three years ago, regular creatine causes so much pain and bloating to me but I knew it is beneficial so I had to go with it, with hcl honestly there is no side effect what’s so ever,

Change some carbs around such as: rice or sweet potatoes/potatoes instead of pasta
20-25 grams of protein have enough leucine to trigger muscle recovery, want 30 gms of protein per meal
Creatine provides quicker muscle recovery, a normal daily dose of 5 mgs per day, no need to do a creatine load for climbers
Beta-alanine counters muscle fatigue

I used the HCL 30 min before my workout after taking a week off (left my normal creatine by accident) while I was on vacation. As soon as I started lifting heavy I could feel it. No loading necessary.
This is my first time hearing of Creatine HCl, sounds amazing! I do have a background in biochemistry (M.S.), nutrition and personal training. Many pharmaceutical products are bound to HCl for quick disassociation once put in water. This really makes sense to me! Explains why it mixes better too. It’s basically disaccociating the Cl ion from the creatine molecule.
Monohydrate is literally the best form. So if this dude says it’s not monohydrate, he loses all credibility he gained from me.
Love Jeff. Quick tip though if you do use Monohydrate, mix your creatine in slightly warm water and it will dissolve much more effectively than in cold water. I’ve been doing this, without bloating for about 4 years. I cycle creatine, not because it’s necessary, I just found better results that way.

Sounds like vegan athletes might have a unique performance advantage if our bodies are used to producing our own creatine as it isnt in our food, there’s a window when we start taking it but our body hasn’t slowed down it’s own production yet. Surely we could leverage this timing to increase sprint performance?

you have to be on creatine more than two to three weeks. its the type of supplement u need to be on it for a little over a month before u notice any serious benefits from it and usually the first time around people do a double load before they begin to cycle creatine.

You want to take it with. Any high glycemic carbohydrate or exogenous insulin. Not that it makes a huge difference. Once you reach saturatiob of 180m/mol in freeze dry muscle cells you can maintain on 2-3g per day 4g if you dont eat much beef, pork or salmon.

im taking creatine for like 7 months now:o the first workout afther taking it was a brutal strength boost but afther that i felt no difference taking it or not.

Most, if not all supplement drinks contain creatine monohydrate there must be a reason for why that is. I take USN hardcore all in one muscle fuel anabolic, which is for gaining mass, it contains 5g of monohydrate. I’ve been drinking this for 2 months having 2 drinks a day between meals and I’ve doubled in size, strength and fitness.
I’m now looking at changing to 100% protein to start becoming more lean, and guess what, it contains creatine monohydrate.

I got this stuff but it says it’s on the tub take 3 grams a day, its optimum nutrition micronised creatine.
Bottom line is don’t take creatine. Even if you’re not consuming it in your diet, your body will make it for you. This has been fully explained by Jack Norris RD, which I will copy and paste below along with the link:

Some ppl tends to TOTALLY suppress any kind of fats from their diet thinking that it will give them heart disease, but they just end up with dry skin, inflammation, and lack of vitamins contained in fats.

both my father and i took monohydrate for a year, then went for some blood and urine testing and had normal creatinine levels, both had muscle and strength gains with no negative reactions, so I can tell you now most bodies react differently

My first question is about whether there is a preferred/better creatine for lean muscle and also better one for getting as big as I can? Fantastic information! Can you do another video with Tom about whether Keto is worth it and/or safe (pros and cons basically) for climbers? You touched on it in this video but more info would be great! Also, Tom suggests to take collagen daily in OJ but also says later that taking Vitamin C regularly can inhibit the body’s adaptation to stressors. Are there only certain things this applies (that we currently are aware of) like NSAIDs and anti-oxidants?

Great insight on how to take supplements. He kept it simple and removed a lot of confusions.
Vegans use strange arguments. For example a common one is that cows don’t eat meat and they are able to get their proteins. But they don’t mention that cows have 4 stomachs and are able to extract the protein nutrient out of the grass. Humans do not have a herbivore stomach that can synthesize protein this way. We know this because if a human only ate grass they would be extremely unhealthy no matter how much they ate (a cow also eats over 6 hours every day). At the end of the day, if you feel much healthier not eating meat (over the long term) then that works for you. Most if not all vegans I’ve seen look scrawny and lethargic. Many also compensate with food when their mental state is not healthy. Stress/anxiety makes proper digestion nearly impossible no matter what you eat
