Nice video, it inspired me to make my work from home video, thanks
Thank you sharing, it’s really helpful to me, under current situation I have been working at home and leading a small team remotely. These tips are so practical. Especially the tips No.1.
Great video but I had to do a double take on the thumbnail. It looks like you are not wearing trousers.
Thank for your advice. It will help to some degree but we have do realize that many people will lack the motivation to do it, will have stress or anxiety.
Used to work night shift in IT line and my face look like panda:(
Hi i am looking for someone to help me and my husband with affiliate marketing. We do not know where and how to start. I hope you can help us.
Another great tip is using apps that help with productivity. I discovered the elocance app while doing my EMBA (and balancing work) and used it to turn my case studies to audio so that I could listen while doing dishes, exercising etc.
Who else thought he was sitting on the bike with his pants around the floor at first glance if the thumbnail?
I don’t understand how you can say no to a French Bulldog. That’s unpossible, this video is misleading.
Love this video. I about to work from home for a year and I watched this video 3 times. Thank you for those tips full of wisdom.
love from india…i put this video as my whats app status bcz I’m loving it:p ….nice work
F u n O n l i n e W o r k.c o m is also doing extremely well for me. super easy monnies. works from a cellphone only also
This has been a great resource. Especially the loneliness part. Working from home in an apartment I live in by myself when I’m used to being in an office with awesome coworkers.. Yeah. That loneliness hits hard.
Hi Pat, no 4 Schedule All Parts of Your Day ( 9:27), is the one I am struggling with. could you provide any tips?
Thanks for the advice! I just got hired at a startup as a social media specialist and I’m there 9-6. I stare at my phone and laptop all day so I’ll definitely be implementing your tips!
WFH softwares should allow user to download average quality audio,i read an article and know few instances in which superiors call subordinates for brainstorming, steal their ideas for promotion.
should i ban my haters that are subbed to me but do nothing but leave hate comments?
Just now seeing this. But I’m having a hard time staying motivated… any tips?
Thanks for the great advice about taking breaks! I need to do that more
I’m a Police/Security hybrid officer. I work 8-12 hour night shifts. I sit alone watching cameras all night and I’m not allowed to leave the room. It’s rough.
Thank you for sharing this information. The one I chose was #5 Taking breaks. As being a work-a-holic, I have to learn how to take breaks. I get caught up into my assignments and try to finish them in a timely fashion without taking a break (whether at home or at work). I am learning through this video.
What to do if your company doesn’t allow you to work from home? Most guys from our office could easily do their work from home.
Finding you spot has been great for me. It allows me to find a place where I can go crazy with post it notes, the white board, and all the other things that I am handling.
@ 2:31: Start that morning pot…. Talking about “coffee”. LOL!
Night are best time to work if you get ride of night shift propaganda. Learn to sleep well, exercise, good sex and water is all you want.
Xxxx business plan xxxx online xxxx how to serve and get paid too!! Whoohoo
Thanks for this! I need to find my spot. I’m moving later this week, so things are all over the place. Once I move and get settled, the dedicated space will be super helpful to my productivity. *insert prayer hands:)
Hey Pat, Thanks for these tips it’s really really helpful. To the point and real advice. Thanks
I start night shift on the 13th I’ll be working from 7pm till 730am any advice
This is so true! We sit too much and move too little. The good thing is that more and more people are becoming aware of how big of an impact staying active has on our health and work performance. I am very happy that I found your video because staying fit when sitting all day is also my passion and this is what I focus on in my videos.
There are still many companies, however, completely ignorant to this concept. I have heard statements from some managers that when the employees are moving around to recharge, instead of sitting at their desks working, they are seen as unproductive. As stupid as it sounds, unfortunately this is the reality.
The good thing is that times are changing and more and more people are joining this stay-active-at-work revolution. Video like this is a fantastic example so thanks for posting it!
All the Best,
Joanna
the best way and not feeling bad, its magnesium. It helps me a lot.
Better idea, avoid all desk jobs all together. True story, I am 6ft even 250lbs man working in a administration job for 5 years. I brought my medicine ball and was told to leave it at home. I quit a week later and worked as a tour guide. I do get paid less; however, I lost 45bls in 16 months and always full of energy and Happy as Hell!!! My advice for all young people, STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM DESK JOBS AT ALL COSTS!!!
I use lavender or vetiver oils. Just massage them behind my ears (in the bony area) and they work great! I even add a drop in 4oz of water the benefits are the same. I also use ear plugs and an eye mask as well because I’m a light sleeper.
I work as a teacher of young children. When I sit at the desk I just want to chill out. Great Video.
What if you work from home, but for a company, not yourself, and your schedule isn’t constant. With my job, we do software deployments in the early AM when the fewest number of customers are using our services. For example. I might work 8am-5pm Monday and Tuesday, then Wednesday 3am 5am I have a software deployment. Then Thursday 4am 6am another deployment, and Friday back to 8am-5pm. After each deployment, I start work late and work the rest of my hours for the day I can’t establish a routine like that.
Hi, I have started working at home the last couple months and I really needed this video. So big thanks for that! And where can I see your live streams?
#10, #7, & # 4 are biggest problems when working from home. I get less work done an spend too much time on things that “don’t move the needle!” Thanks for this video. I’m an architect still working in an office, but tried going into business on my own from home.
Hello there, I just wanna ask for your help, I want to start to work from home, but I’m very confused from where to start.
I enjoyed all of it. Thanks so much!! But getting into morning routine and taking breaks is my favorites.
How do you work from home as a single parent with a 4 year old and 2 year old
The first tip of all is to wake up rejuvenated if you understand sleep cycles (and the importance of waking up in a lighter sleep cycle), you’ll already be more ready to start your day. In other words, just download the Sleep Cycle app!
I love this. I’m new nurse and new to night shift. So these tips were really helpful
Thanks for the tips. I really liked the fourth tip to celebrate wins. I agree that is extremely important to make sure you provide yourself some positive reinforcement.
On a side note, I wrote an open letter to men who are working at home with their partners. check it out tinyurl.com/CovidOpenLetter
In my 5+ years a manager in a software company, surprisingly I never had to work from home. This sudden transition got me thinking about how couples are dealing with it. In many communities and cultures, the responsibilities of giving care and domestic chores often fall on women. So my letter is to the men to keep this in mind in the current difficult times.
Been working night shift for 10 yrs now. I have insomnia so i mght as well use my hours at night working but i really have a hard time sleeping during d days too.
Loved your advice! #9 Find your Spot, #5 Take Breaks(because that is hard for me to do. I tend to just want to go until I am finished no matter what) #1 Communicate as much as possible w/ people around you (because I push hard and sometimes that means I want to keep going without stopping to explain myself). Thanks!
I KNEW all of this… but having it aid, and put into print was a real slap-in-the-face wake-up call. I IGNORED all of this…maybe now I can “GIT-R-DONE” Thanks, much needed!
Hi Pat, I really enjoyed your working from home tips! I’m a physiotherapist/pilates instructor just started my own channel. If you would please check it out and support me it would mean a lot.
The one I would add that I have to do some is if you are wanting to procrastinate, start small. It’s easier to talk yourself into doing something if you know you only have to do something that will take a few minutes. Then once you get in those few minutes, you can do anything you want, but chances are that you will want to keep going once you get the first few minutes in.
I can’t sleep in morning because of night shift I almost 10 months
thanks so muchgreat info and love your energy and kindness in addition to expertise
Dear Pat, Many thanks for your effort & time, very well explained. I’ve implemented all of them & I personally love the 10th Get onto Morning Routine, that sets you for the day! Cheers, Santosh.
Working from home is new for me due to COVID-19. So, your tips are wonderful! Thank you so much!
My morning routine is GOLD… when that gets thrown off, my whole day gets put off! Thanks so much Pat!!
I’m struggling with separation of work with personal time. I am fortunate to have a room dedicated as an office/study, but normally this is my relaxing zone. I’m not working from here and all my work stuff is here and it’s difficult to have that physical separation. Is there any tips or tricks that people can recommend to help with going from work mode to personal mode in the same physical space
The tip about schedule the entire day was very helpful. I need to think more holistically about the day as a unit. Thanks!
very very helpful tips thank you for sharing this with us ♥
I wonder how long or how many hours should I set this schedule (roughly)
Thank you for your sincerity. As a result, I’m gonna follow and reach out. I’m making preparations to work from home. Its something I’ve wanted to do for a long time but didn’t have the guts to do it. With this current situation, it has put things in perspective to move forward. I’m still in the research faze. Tryin1 to find the thing or things that attract me. So far affiliate marketing stands out. I see the creative potential in it. And being able to express myself creatively is very important to me. I’m gonna dig around in some of your content but if you have anything I can abosord I would greatly appreciate it. Look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
Thanks mucho!
Doing night shifts for my first time. But it’s only for a month in the USPS. Thanks for the tips
As one already experienced two months working from home, here are my tips
1. First, get changed out of your pajamas every morning. It’ll help get you in the right headspace for work and allow you to take video calls on the fly.
2. Pick one or more dedicated workspaces, ideally with a decent chair that will support your back.
3. But try to keep your bedroom as a sacred space for sleeping and relaxing where work is banned. It’ll help make the work-life divide a little clearer.
4. Wake up more than five minutes before your workday starts. You need time to prepare for the day, both mentally and physically.
5. Try wearing shoes, because let’s be real: You probably wouldn’t be chilling barefoot in an office.
6. Sign out and turn off notifications for work-related email and instant messaging when the day is over — especially if you’re signed in on your personal devices.
7. Overworking can be a real issue, so clearly define what hours you will be working and stick to it.
8.Also, take frequent breaks so you don’t burn out. You’re probably not actually working 100% of the time when you’re in an office anyway.
9.Be sure to socialize after work, even if it’s just a video call, to keep the loneliness at bay.
10.Communicate to people you live with that you’re working, like if you have a video call with your coworkers and need everyone to be quiet.
11. Use headphones and mute your microphone during conference calls (unless you’re speaking) to minimize the amount of audio feedback and times that random sounds interrupt the conversation. Make a conference call highly recommend this tool Dingtalk Lite
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alibaba.dingtalk.global&hl=en_US
Love the shirt Pat! Also the video is looking SOOOO good. Have you made a video or will you plan on making a video on your setup? Lighting, sound etc…
Physically and mentally being with family THIS IS HUGE! And crazy hard for me… Im a full time potter working from home and with everyone here right now I keep finding myself trying to escape back to work for breaks. I am doing your courses, reading your books and taking action. You have been my entire reason for taking my business into action. Thanks for all you do Pat!
Great Video… Check out the book deskbound by Kelly Starret. Interesting
Oh, I knew that morning routine and getting dressed is super important but I never realized that ‘end time’ is important!!! Literally light bulb moment! That was the reason why our family evening routine is always messed up because I am trying to fit in as much work as possible…. THANK YOU!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WnESoEh05o&feature=em-uploademail
I agree with your first tip! Definitely need to set a timer. My grandma is insanely bad condition due to sitting for the last 20 years. Get up and move around!
This is a great topic, I started working more at home and found that I had to come up with a routine and not allow others to dictate my schedule. Thanks
@pat Flynn, great content and great visual. What type of camera are you using?
You are so vibrant! Thanks for the tips. I am now looking forward to getting these night shifts started!
#5 Take breaks is important. I return from 15 minute breaks with more energy and get more done.
Some people are not morning people either for work or excercing. Do not group everybody in same boat.
Never worked in my pj’s… was always focused, zero time to goof around…
serious minded, get serious results.

Nice video, it inspired me to make my work from home video, thanks
Haha, for some reason this cracked me up. All this nonsense about how we should work from home is a joke when you’ve got young kids. It just places the onus on employees to find a solution to the problems we’re all experiencing. I’d like to see one of these videos for single parents with young kids
Great video. I liked not only the advice, but also the editing. I talk about setting boundaries a lot on my channel. I think when working from home this is one of the most critical things one needs to do, together with more communication.
Me laying on the couch watching YouTube instead of working at 9am
Working night shifts for 10 years now. Life is good. But, recently I have been a bit alarmed by people creating so much fuss about circadian rhythm so I want to know more about the side effects.
Baby pug is soooo cute that’s all I remember in the video
I’m starting full time shift for the summer.super soon
Damn that mean if I was in Korea I would be up in the day
I can deeply resonate with what you said to Find your Spot. I was using my sister’s room as a home office while she’s in abroad. When the lock down happened in our area because of Covid-19, my cousin took refuge in our home and he used my sister’s room (my home office). During that time, I transferred to our dining area to do some work my productivity dropped. There were plenty of distractions as I can just go to our food storage immediately to get some snacks and eat, go to sala and watch Netflix, or be called up by my family to do something as I am always in their sight. When I had the room back as my cousin transferred to another room, I am becoming productive again.
I’m working on a night shift right now and it’s really hard to adjust what I do during day shift to night shift, like exercising. What time of the day do you exercise?
You make some of the best and most knowledgeable videos on YT.
1.always keep healthy food infront of you because your brain would think that its the only food you can eat, basicily you are tricking yourself into eating healthy
2.put something interesting like a infinity cube or lava lamp on your desk because i thin if you look at it instead of thinking about boring work you can thin of other stuff giving you more ideas.
these are what i think you could do hope you take this comment and use it and if you want to see what i would do in more detail go check out my channel:

I loved the video I am Brazilian and I recently got to know the channel and sorry for the pronunciation and the writing if I am wrong I am now learning to speak English with the videos I can better understand English and speak it too
1. Set a timer to stand, stretch, walk etc (every 45-60 minutes)
2. Drink water all day long (it is good for you and makes you go to the restroom)
3. Go for a walk (it awakens your creativity)
4. Invest in your health (ergonomics at your desk, for example a standing desk, balance board)
5. Exercise (it boosts your productivity)
My dog is going to suffer big time when I have to go back to work. He’s a lab chihuahua and very sociable. That’s my biggest fear when the lockdown ends is that he’s going to be really depressed when I’m no longer there with him 24/7. And of course I’m gonna miss his company as well.

Love love love the health tips for heath and wellness! Taking breaks is key for both our health AND our mental performance. I work better when I get up once per hour and also get outside in the sunlight. I also have mini resistance bands that I put around my legs to do legs stretches while I’m sitting on on breaks. Thanks for incorporating health into your creator videos! So applicable for me and hopefully many others
The only way I can find some alone time behind a closed door in my tiny-ass apartment is if I work in the bathroom. That would make for some uncomfortable zoom meetings. XD
This was a very useful video. I am a long-time subscriber of yours, and from this video I learned a lot of interesting things, but for this topic, the greatest effect was given to me by this book https://urrl.ru/MGl19O. I advise everyone to read it. It’s a diamond. (Sorry for mistakes English is not my native language) It’s all about working at home. Short, easy and clear.
thanks for the tips and sharing you affinity for Zeppelin..LOL
Nice video, it inspired me to make my work from home video, thanks
You explained the dedicated workspace really well. I think its one of the most essential parts to working from home
While I appreciate this video and I hope it helps people, if someone doesn’t know how to work from home, they are an idiot. It’s not difficult. Common sense.
Nice video
Here are some interesting benefits of working from home
https://topic10points.blogspot.com/2020/05/benifits-of-working-from-home.html
Thanks! This is so true. You are so adorable and very informative.
Amazing Part. There is not too much data out there about working from home with kids…looks like every productivity sabant doesn’t have kids.
I’ve being working remotely as Engineer from 7 years but was after having kids (4 years and a little one 1 year) that the struggle really start.
And now with the sanitary crisis is even worst.
Wife work at home (teacher), kids are at home and I have to do my work too..
I still working out to find some balance but what work for us til now is a calendar with blocks for each of us to accomplish our work. Is hard than every because some days I have to work really late but flexibility is key I think..
The harder? Is not only about work and kids..there is a house to run, clean, sort, Cook, clean again, eash dishes, clean!!, kids, etc etc.
Do you have any advice or experience about house management, kids and work from home?
I’m worried that my dog is going to find it very hard to adjust when i go back to work. I’ve been trying to put him outside but if he knows I’m in the house, he cries haha. I’ve tried doing it and hiding as well, cries less but still does little cries.

More ideas on working from home. A must watch
Maybe now our families will realize we are working and not available for silly errands just because we are home. I have always worked at home (crippled unhirable but self supportive), and the ridiculous demands, put-down comments at family gatherings about a “real job”…..
Me: Plays video
Me working from home on my kitchen table in the living room/kitchen space: oh
nothing wrong with music. in fact i use it to signal that i am working and the. door. cannot. be knocked. also, it keeps outside noises out and my conversations, a few of which might be highly confidential, remain within the room
Can you share a general meal routine for night shifters. Like the time and items to consume.
Watched a lot of productivity working from home videos. Advices are more or less the same.. but forgotten one major thing that’s stopping the productivity, internet bandwidth. It’s like waiting on a queue number for outlook to release an email or inbox just stop updated since hours ago..
I found my balance and rhythm to Work from Home and I documented it on my Channel, please feel free to check it out as well. I agree to the tips shared here as well, mosts resonate with what I captured as well.
i work 3am-9am not so bad i know but u just have to adjust ur lifestyle. I’m doing this to save up money for trade school so i just have to sacrifice my normal lifestyle so that i can work comftorably
Drink chamomile tea. And also sniff some tea tree oil. Its amazing talk about total relaxation. An. O i listen to whale sounds
For those trying to get in shape thru diet & exercise but are chained to a desk job like me, when you get up every hour, do as many pulsing squats or squat jumps as you can in 60 seconds. This helped me keep my metabolism engaged throughout the day!
God bless you Sean you’re a very positive thinker can I interview you when I start my YouTube channel?
Awesome tips! Pretty much how I’ve been operating for sometime now.
Good video thanks. This video helped too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8oRdlPwNKMY

Hey I’m a student, our schools were because of corona but because of the district, I’m in we don’t have reliable internet access so there aren’t any deadlines on the work we are assigned. I’m trying to hold myself accountable because the grades will still go on the fourth quarter. I like the tip about the morning routine cause that’s the one thing I dream about in school cause the first period starts at 7
Really enjoyed the video and your transparency. I am starting to work from home remotely. Thank you for the advice.
This is exactly what I talk about in this video:

A timer is a great tool to use to remind yourself to take stretching breaks. Love that you used Alexa so convenient! Cheers!
I’ve been doing night shifts for about a year and a half now. Started doing them right after high school in July 2018. Got a job at Tim Horton’s (Canadian coffee shop) and got hired full time on the overnight shifts. I worked there for almost a year and then got a job in a gym (where I work now actually) and I work the overnight shift in the gym too. I’m so used to them that I’m usually up all night even on my nights off. Once in a blue moon, I’ll get some sleep throughout the night and be up earlier than I usually am. I love the shifts though as it’s not busy and I go home in the morning when everyone is going to work. My tips for people who are thinking of getting a night shift job or got hired for one but didn’t start yet: 1. Don’t wait until you start to get in the habit of being up all night. If you do this, it’ll be very hard for you when you start. Get in the habit of it before you start. This is something I wish I did before my first overnight shift. 2. Get a good sleep during the day. Most people who do days and nights get up at lunch time after working all night. Don’t do this. You’ll be tired for your shift if you do.
and this is at amazona im trying to really good positive tips

Thank you for this helpful video. I currently have a desk job while trying to make it on youtube after hours. I just got my youtube studio put together and what’s cool is that my former tenant who was renting the room that is now my office left a home-made desk that is tall enough to be a standing desk for me. I’ll definitely be taking your tips into consideration:).
I loved your video as being an IT support analyst I have to rotate through various shifts. I liked your advice of keeping positive attitude…

which camera is good for video recording for close object canon 700d/750d or Nikon p900?please answer me
You said you would link the chair in the description box but I don’t see it. Could you please put it in there? Thanks for this video.
Thanks for the tips. But the steve jobs example.. well… i dont know about that…
I have been working night shift for 13 years (rotating). The only reason I do it is because my job pays well and it has all the bells and whistles. I find the people who ‘enjoy’ nights shifts usually have no kids or generally are the non compliant type at work and like working with less supervision. One piece of advise I would give, unless you are a nurse, doctor, cop,, good union, good pay,… look for another job. Night shift workers deserve more,…a lot more.
Hey can you make a video of the best smartphone accessories for vlog while driving, what set up to use and where is best to mount your camera/smartphone. Thanks

Hey Pat!!
I have been following you since 2014 when you had that other site design.
I have been listening to your podcast. I just love them. You are my inspiration for building an online business for building a passive income empire.
This work-from-home video was so helpful to me I can’t even tell.
You said to communicate one tip that was helpful, I would say all 10 of them were super-helpful to me.
Thank you so much for putting these videos out. Putting your podcasts out.
You rock. Love you!!
I let my Apple Watch remind me every hour and set a goal on it. If I didn’t have the reminder I wouldn’t notice how fast time goes!
Young people don’t like NOC shift. I loved NOV shift. It’s chill. You can sleep on your break, what we did is combine 30minutes break and 10 minute break and the other 10 minutes. So we get 40 min uninterrupted break. Then we brew coffee to boost our mind. When I get home, I don’t sleep till 12pm. I do my chores like laundry or shopping. Lol. Before I go to sleep, I take shower so when I wake up I dont have to. Taking shower before you go for NOC will make you sleepy. Drink coffee 2 hours prior work. Dont over eat. Count your calories. Do 2 hour exercise after work. You can sleep 4 hours after work. Then do another 4 hours later before going to work. When you get the days off it feels like 3 days. I did this for 5 years. I’m doing this again as a hospice nurse on call.
to create a daily routine is very important to every sector of development.
having a routine will make sure that you wake up early, start work at the right time, keep you healthy by planning a healthy diet and so many more. A routine can also make you more diseplined and happier because you will feel more independent and confident about yourself.
have a nice day everyone and hope this comment can help out:)
Nutra Sleep is amazing it doesn’t have melatonin in it it has other natural ingredients
Great tips-I’m completely binge-watching your free content until I can afford to jump into Pat Flynn’s University of How to Succeed-loving it-thank you for all you do!!
Small token of appreciation, this totally off topic and of course, unsolicited advice: @ 4:54: “I was very very grateful that she called me out on that…but we didn’t have kids yet…I definitely don’t want to behave like that when my kids are talking to me…” as if doing it to her is any less of a problem?
You and she were a thing before the kids came along-keeping that relationship a priority-yes, even above the kids-will help ensure you two are a thing long after the kids are grown and gone. They are a PART of your relationship and life. Ideally, the two of you are a team for life (not just parents) and it’s every bit as important (I daresay quite a bit more so) to make that relationship a priority and keeping that in mind in order to help avoid kids driving a nearly-impossible-to-remove wedge between you two. Wishing you continued success-in ALL areas ;0)
I barely have any mony and my audio suck. Do you have any ideas for a full setup(camera light and audio) for under $200
Great tips. To help reduce the time I spend sitting at my desk I will get up every so often and do a small chore around the house like loading the dishwasher or washing machine, or helping to prepare lunch. Also when I can I will go outside and water the fruit trees. I find that watering the trees not only forces me to stand, but it is a good opportunity for quiet reflection and recharges my creativity.
Oh, and I cannot forget, I have a cute little dog who get jealous if I spend too much time on the computer and will jump on my lap and get between me and the computer or bark up a storm until I get up and play with him.
It’s 4:34 a.m. this is my 3rd day working from home after 20 years of getting up and going somewhere dragging babies out in the cold finding babysitters getting somewhere where I had to be for doctors appointment to picking someone up running a rat race. And now I work from home this is gonna take some getting used to! I already miss taking the bus I already miss talking with people and I don’t even like people that much….. And then I cleaned my bathroom and folded laundry on my break who does that? Forgot to mention on the 1st day the large amount of day dreaming holy smokes talk about wasting time… its 4:41 a.m. this is gonna be a long day
There is a Mac app called Just Focus. It’s the best Pomodoro app ever. It’ll force you to get up from your computer.
Exercise is a massive plus. I go on a barefoot run every morning before work and if I don’t go for a run, my mentally suffers… more than it already does.:) I have a good friend that schedules an unbreakable 1 hour exercise meeting every day. He schedules this in his calendar and not matter what comes up, he doesn’t cancel that meeting. Brilliant.
I love night shift after work I smoke a dewby and that’s my way of having one hell of a sleep
Fantastic video! I do a 2-3 hour walk every day to free my mself from the desk where I work a lot of hours every single day. These walks help me with creativity a lot! Most of my ideas come from the time that I spend walking.
Thank you for this video with all the amazing tips. Please make more like this!
Nice, good tips, but… does not work when your very limited space is not your own, or your small children are sharing everything with you, including the washroom, bedroom, desk space. Then.. nothing gets done!!!
get a dog or you can change industries! I do dog walking and sitting so I’m walking all the time
Interesting points, and curious what recommendations you might have for parents who both wfh and balance childcare.
6:34 Tony Robbins said the same.. energy to conquer objectives is important
Great points Sean! A couple of other things I do, especially for the budget minded, is to buy one of those large, inflatable stability balls and sit on it at your desk. They are pretty inexpensive and they make you use your muscles while keeping your balance when you are sitting at your desk working. Also since I have a 2 story house and my office is on the first floor, I put certain things I use often upstairs so when I need them I have to run up the stairs and get some exercise.
Keep up the great work brother!
I’m most likely leaving my day shift about to start nights at another job, a better company. And pays way more. I wanted day shift but night was all they had. I’m only doing it to get my foot in the door. I gotta admit tho the pay is like ching ching on nights. Plus wknd differential. Il do my best but day shift i will return again. Thx for the tips!
I actually workout everyday. Stress, poor nutrition, toxic chemicals and lack of exercise cause cancer. Awesome video, Sean. Also thank you for shaping me gain 2k subscribers on my channel. You deserve one million subsrcibers, Bro. Much love from Miami =)
most helpful tip for me is to Know what you are supposed to be doing. otherwise I may go off into a bunch of different directions and then feel guilty for not doing one of the main things on my list.
Nice!
I drink water ALL the time
and stand as much as possible!
Working at home just seems like a possible issue. Family or relational issues you may be forced to put forwards ahead of work, network issues, IT issues, possible mental health issues, possible loneliness, possible lack of support you may find inside the work place, possible networks been possibly over loaded with work, etc. I feel.
I totally agree with the tip of getting up every hour. Where I work I get up every hour or so and move around because I need to get up and move. Also, I try to think of good situations of when I need to move (offer to help customers, get something from downstairs, give people their mail, etc.). Another thing I tend to do is move my legs back and forth because I can’t touch the ground (positive side of being short) BUT I don’t suggest doing it if you are sitting too close across from someone.
2:43 “Drink water all day long”
Oh that’s right! reaches for water I try to get around a gallon a day and have been trying alkaline water as well.
I’ve also been using a sit-to-stand desk at work for the past few months and it has been my #1 favorite health accessory I’ve used (second being my TriggerPoint Therapy foam roller).
My wife laughs at me and then I laugh at me when I harp on ergonomics. Seriously though, it is a great usage of one’s time
This is just the video I needed! I got a video editing job and to be honest, I spend most of my time editing in bed, lol. Thanks so much!!:)
Well this was Awesome as always!
Thumbs up! (this comment too)
hi my name is sai venkat and i’m from india and this video will help me because i’m in 10th grade and I sit all the time in school and I also run a small youtube channel so I have to edit the videos but I stand up while editing and I keep a stool on that I keep my laptop and edit the videos this ti gives me some exercise and by the way I love your videos it helps in growing my channel
For everyone workin’ from home: you definitely need 0ffice from time to time or even everyday! This place got you promoapp.store
Hey Sean,
The thumbnail for this video looks like you’re sitting at your desk with your Pants down! LMAO
I don’t know if this is mentioned in the comments, but take some vitamin B pills 2 hours before your shift. That’ll give you enough energy for a couple of hours at least. And try to stick to one sleeping pattern. Like I work from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. I don’t come home and crash. Instead I trained my body to go to sleep at least 7 hours before I go in to work. Like I’ll go to bed around 12 p.m. lol, while the world of day shift works on lunch break…. I’m on my sleep break
Wow! The remark you made about the foundation working up hit home hard with me. It’s not all about just fitness and health, just self-development, or just business development…it’s about all three, and in a hierarchy that really creates a synergy with one another if they are properly ordered and utilized. Great piece of content, keep it up!
can you go over the cameras that doesnt have the time limit for recording videos? most of the cameras are only allowing recording up to 4gb or 29mins59sec or less. it would be great to know for the people that continuously record video more than 30mins. or did you already done a video on that? i cant find it if you did. if not, please help! thank always for these great informative videos
I use those balance boards with a standing desk. Works pretty well!
Hi Sean It’s my birthday today it would be great if you reply to my comment
You don’t work nights unless you’ve worked YEARS of night shift.
Go home, stay out of the dark. Let us do the real jobs.
I have a onewheel that would be a lot of fun combined with a stand up desk.
I have been doing YouTube for some time now but I don’t feel like I’m getting anyway got any tips
So I been watching buckets of work from home videos due to the COVID-19 and the only video that actually worked as to making money within 5 days was https://youtu.be/QNOoBEDhaMQ the quality of he video is shits but what she said the video and the company she talks about is the real deal. I am posting to help the others that lives in America make so real money. Just incase you missed it her agent id to direct you to the correct company is 2685458
I found that maintaining my morning routine has been the most beneficial. Learning that maintaining a schedule is also very important. Thank you for the time to put this together!
Easy Corona crisis work from home https://smart.bio/fruityyymix
This is delightful! I’m a (mostly) nocturnal artist at this time, and I’m looking for health hope for us incurable night owls. The only problem is those difficult days when we have to get out early to tend to necessary business, because everything closes in late PM, at least where I live. Thank you so much! You are a breath of fresh air.
I work overnight 12am to 6 am and I sleep 7am to 11am and nap 8pm to 10:30 before my work. But no matter how sleep in the morning somehow I fall asleep at work. How I do about that?
I’ve recently started my night shift and this is my first day off, it’s really weird sleeping at night now.
Thank you for this, I’m a full time on air personality in several major markets plus online influencer for them. I’m also in the process of building my own brand. Just got my real estate license. Plus the biggest of all full time parent. I’m super creative with times of being on track and highly motivated to lacking time management and feeling alone in this journey hard to get my fam on track even after expressing the benefits. I know I need to improve, if you have a team would love to join. Thanks again for this ultimately it’s up to me to pull through. Thanks again, I wrote too much lol have a blessed one.
2 pints of gin help you sleep during the day, good food and coffee during the night.
I don’t work night shift per say, but I have really long days I spent 14 hours at work yesterday so I basically do day and night shift
This is a thoughtful and actionable video. Pat, because of YT rankings, don’t forget to say if you found this video helpful, don’t forget to hit the like button. It’s unfortunate how YT rankings things based on user interaction. I can understand it from their point of view. And I’ve always enjoyed that you help people first and the monetization comes organically later. But like SEO optimization, you need to encourage people (beyond simply commenting) to at least like the video.
I hate saying the words because I hate the YouTube beggars who just plaster you with begs for subs & likes before you even watch the video. Because they know most viewers don’t complete a video so best to ask for a like before the viewer has even seen the video. I personally think that is a destructive metric YT has created that simple engagement whether positive or negative is actually the thing that helps rank the video. But with consistent release schedules and valuable content, you can turn the channel into something special.
But I wouldn’t get too reliant on a single platform. Look what happened in March 2020 to all those people making 3% 8% off Amazon affiliates program. With no notice, Amazon changed their policy and blew up the business model of almost every affiliate. Because as a platform moved to a monopoly or duopoly status, even the best intention companies (remember Google’s “do no evil” moniker in the 1990s & 2000s? That was a belief by the founders who are now sidelined while the company is run by mega-business guys who have no belief in that. Suddenly in March 2020, Amazon dropped payout rates from 3-8% to 1-3% for affiliates which wiped out so many business models. People spent their whole career building on a platform which they don’t control. So you need to get users into your funnels if nothing more than to capture their email and avoid a platform policy change that could turn years of effort into something meaningless to the creator.
Why does it seem like all the videos about working the night shift are by women with reeeeeeealy long hair? Weird.
4 years working night shift. Ive had enough. Didnt relize how much it was affecting me until lately.
Great stuff! Personally I carb load myself to put myself to sleep and it works wonders!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2G3IcGadAw
I love watching your channel! I’ve watched you during my first few years of nursing thanks for sharing your wisdom w/ us!
Great video post! I have worked from home my whole career, but constantly need the focus to keep on schedule and focus on what is important at work and with family. So many things that can distract you news and social media are time sucks that can throw you off! The 2 big things are the morning routine and the face to face connection both so necessary! Thank you!
Not a joke lol I use cannabis to help me go to sleep:) I’m a heavy smoker and have a high tolerance but at night when I’m ready to sleep I take a bowl, then an hour later I’m relaxed and ready to sleep
Thanks Sean, I run my YouTube channel in the same field as my full time job. Health is one thing that can easily be overlooked when sitting at a desk for 10 hour days ( I freaking love what I do though!!!)
I agree, good video…in my case, a morning routine that in between other things include stretching exercises, meditation, short cardio session, and ends with a cold GOD FORSAKEN shower really helps me feel prepared for work. Another is to know when extending work hours and “going the extra mile” is really necessary and if not then just close the computer, add it to my work agenda for the next day (so that it is out of my mind ), and move on. Cheers!
I am being switched to nights due to the nursing shortage created by the Covid pandemic. Thank you for your tips.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BC4yqRZjsA4 i made the same video

I am thinking about taking FMLA cuz I’m going crazy wFh…should I proceed?
I have a Varidesk. I prefer the one I made out of IKEA tables.
Morning routine is most important to me. Plus…observing your Segway into the call to action in comment, very smooth
I start by yesterday i have to stand 11 hour how to release foot backpain
Love this. Been working from home for a month plus now due to covid 19. Great tips and sometimes you just need to be hear this again and again and again.
SPI Podcast 419 Best guests contributed podcast in a longgggg time. Highly recommend a listen. From one day to another It will make you tear up a bit.
“I recommend this guide:
chag.best/wakeupcalm/7Ft
So grateful it exists in 2020.”
People working in night shifts are more powerful and active, passionate.
Dec. 10 2020 will be 25 years on nights it is slowly killing me I only sleep 3-5 hrs. a night
That was great. Hope Buddy keeps making appearances in the videos!
I watched this video while working out on my treadmill:)
On my work computer I have the scheduler reminding me to standup every 30 mins.
This is pointless a lot of people have children, having your own space is impossible
I’m in nightshift for 7 weeks now, from 6pm to 6 am, and I’m now a lil bit conscious about my health. I always get dizzy and some times I have a trouble in breathing.
Drink water! Lots of water, please!
Post my first night shift and was so foxused on gettinv through it not realizing I didn’t have a lick of water & my heart is racingg.
Hey Pat, you rock brother. Enjoyed this video. The segment that inspired me the most was simply the part where you talked about feeling reassured just knowing that someone is on the other end of a Webcast even though we can’t connect in person right now. Your weekly office hours have been that exact inspiration for me.
I’ve worked from home since 2009. The two things that have most helped me are: (1) understanding the 8020 principle and using it to stay focused on the 20% of my work that generates 80% of results, and (2) A book called The 12 Week Year: Get More Done in 12 Weeks Than Others Do in 12 Months
by Brian P. Moran & Michael Lennington. (No affiliate relationship.)
Thank you for giving positivity to night shifts bc I’m dreading it so much and I’m having trouble with sleep now:/ sounds like it’ll get better soon though
Trazadone. It’s been a godsend to help get regular sleep while working nights. But I still have to deal with those days where for whatever reason I just don’t get any sleep.
Thanks for the shout out!! Literally that day I was like, hmmmm wonder what Sean does to stay fit?!? I need that bike tall desk combo in my life…. coming soon I hope!!
I rotate between 10mg of melatonin, 12mg of melatonin, and Benadryl (yes! I spoke with my doctor and for me, it is safe, PLEASE talk to your personal doctor first!!!!!!!!!!!!).
Pat, thank you for your insights!, my baby deserve 100% of me, nicely addressed
Got hired on the spot at my new job and there was a 3 day period between my hiring at the interview to my start I usually go to bed at 11 and wake up at 8 now I’ll be working 10pm-6:30am and I’m having a hard time trying to flip my sleep schedule before I start tomorrow
Been working the night shift for 3 years now and I totally sleep with the fan pointed towards the wall for noise too and black out curtains. Related to almost all of the tips but it took me years to learn all these these tricks and then I found them in one video
3:39
Wow..the bible is true, the power of the tongue, you said it and that’s exactly what you did.
Proverbs 18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.
Proverbs 18:21 ESV
I’ve been working from home for years, way before covid-19 with 5 kids:-). Quite a challenge https://musingsofafamilyman.blogspot.com/2020/06/working-from-home-benefits-challenges.html
This is the best video i could find on how to survive night shifts. The best tip was not to consume statistics on how bad night shifts are for your health. Being positive and not worrying about what may happen to you is the key. There are a lot of people in world working in night shifts. Just love your work, do whatever you can to keep yourself healthy and happy.
Hot shower before bed then I drink chamomile tea and sometimes read some of my book ☺
Thank you so much! I did fulltime night shifts for 3 years (9pm-5am, Mon-Fri) and now work a job where I have rotating shifts (5 weeks of dayshifts, 2 weeks of nights) and I’ve found it SO hard to find resources, tips and ideas for shift workers. So often all you find is “DID YOU KNOW NIGHT SHIFTS CAN KILL YOU” lol. That’s nice… SOMEONE has to work those nights! Help them out instead of scaring them. You definitely helped and reassured me a lot! Those 3 years of fulltime nights had a huge impact on my health, and now I’m trying to minimize the impact of the rotating shifts. As a migrant my shift work has helped me start a career in a foreign country in an industry that I would have otherwise never broken into!
I just started to work from home a few months ago. This is the first video I watched and took tips from. My work schedule is routine like it was working in the office, but I can’t seem to focus on my work and production like I need to. With or without music some many things are going through my mind and I have times when I can’t seem to focus. Any tips?
Thanks for all your tips guys. Personally I would say, try by any method, to sleep at least 6.5 better 7 hours of sleep. You will feel good and in shape next night. I did sooo many 4 hours sleep them felt so low. If somebody though has a solution to a better quality sleep?
Thanks for the great video! I have a white board that I need to write on through out the day, I put it on the other side of the room so that I have to get up to edit it. I too do the timer thing. And, I have made it a habit to pace around the room and/or the house when I am on the phone.
I just want you to know that I did everything exactly what she said and the difference is amazing! I never drag my feet at work, and I don’t drink so much coffee
Lavender oils for sleep.. I use youngliving and you can put some drops in pill capsules and take them
Discipline is key. And music is fine if it’s not distracting.
Great tips for some but will take a bit of time to adjust for multiple family members working from home or those who have limited space in extended families. Good luck to all.
After I’ve heard that some people have been working night shifts for many many years and they are still okay, I’m not scared anymore.
I cut my working hours, so I have time to do something what I love before going to work. I was depressed, but now I feel so much better.
Thanks for these Tips Idol. Hope to see you again. Nece vids.. Keep it up!
You radiate positivity and This is the best night shift tips video I have come across. Thank you!
Hi sean pls reply can i get a shoutout pls sean i am a old subscriber
I like the extra amount of time I have during the day as I know have to work night shifts five days a week. I work form 9 p m to 6 a m and it is very hard for me because I am 57 years old and have not been used to this sort of schedule. It’s a very good company and worth the sacrifice but I see I am not alone in feeling so tired for the first week or so. We just had our two days off we get that after the fifth day so that gives us time to catch up on some sleep. I wish so much I could feel like this is so terrific and have so much energy all night long but it’s taking a lot out of mentally and physically. Maybe, it’s something one has to get used to. I don’t know. That’s why I am watching videos and reading many articles to keep me going. Thanks, for the tips. *I am not a nurse by the way. I now work on a Production line for a food company.
That’s a chick thing Girls like the sound of heart beating idk why but iv had multiple exs tell me they like that sound tv doesn’t work for me but YouTube videos do for some reason I sleep with the main light on too idk why also showering before sleeping helps but I been up since 6am gotta work at 12 tonight starting a new job on third it’s gonna suck mostly because it’s 8pm right now and I’m not gonna be able to sleep at all
Those speakers that listen to your every word are so creepy!! I’m not there yet lol..
I love 3rd shift….get off at 7am..sleep till 2:30 have the whole day in front of me….no crowds no hassle no traffic
How is sitting bad for you? I’ve never understood that argument
What a beautiful nurse. I have always admired people in the medical field.
What about me i work 5 nights a week for almost 4 years now answering call from nurses and doctors in new york and i survive, before going to sleep i go to gym work hard. But i still feel groggy. Maybe because of my salary is not enough.
