Youtube recommending solid stuff the way he runs is in solid form
This problem is amplified by some of my physique traits. I partly identified it myself in highschoold. I approached two “trainers” at school to ask to help me address that. They had no idea what I was talking about. I was not about competitive running. I simply wanted to stop running like a dick on duck’s feet.
You wear shoes you change your standing posture by some factor, now to neutralise that offset you need to correct the running form means if you don’t use shoes you can’t run wrong.
Damn my form is so shit. my ankles knees and lower back all hurt from running so long
What the heck? I was taught to flat feet when running and this is the complete opposite.
That may have been the reason of my injuries.
I watch the video and try it but cant get it ti look like that
must be nice to have the luxury of owning a treadmill at home
Really interesting video! Where I can find more detailed informations?
I unwittingly learned this on company cadence runs. Huh. Interesting.
This is great. I had a go on a 5km run and discovered how much less energy I used. Here’s the thing, how do I know if I’m doing it right. I don’t have a coach and the data doesn’t really tell me if I’ve got the motion right, right? Is there some kind of feedback loop?? I play competitive tennis and my racket is the feedback loop, I know if I’m hitting the ball with enough top-spin etc. Can you help Coach Diaz?
Show us Jarod, show us everything… by everything I mean show us your full running video.
He shows how not to kick up your heels, but then he does it when running fast.
My way of running on a treadmill is focusing on numbers and statistics. I love looking at those real time records I made.
Where’s the rest of the video??? Im certainly incorporating this
i cannot run and workout with no music music is everything hahaha
Will this cure my shin splints? I get them literally after 5 minutes jogging. I even get them from a brisk walk as well.
The guy on the left might be thinkingwhy I am the guy who always does things wrong? And the other guy on the right looks a lot like the character Michael from GTA V
i dont know why but when i tried in the gym i got dizzy and confuse i can run in the treadmill, but dont have problem when i do that in open field, dont know why, well i never used gym till a few months my son invited me so i tried,
I used to run in college and I can honestly say trying to correct a form is difficult. Sometimes injuries arise from this. I have found weight lifting to be the best to correctly incorporate better form.
3:55 Michael Jackson on the Treadmill. Set the timer… and… Beat It! Beat It! Just Beat It!
Legend says even at the speed of light his pace would be the same
For me, this was the single best piece of advice for preventing knee pain. As I get more tired, this still allows me slow down without going too heavy on the knees. If I feel good, the transition between times makes so much sense. I wish I had known this 30 years ago when I was younger. I feel this would have sent me to that next level of running
It also explains how the world class runners looks the same between the beginning and finish. Consistent cadence with stride changes.
Huh. I guess that’s why all elite runners look like a bunch of fairies while they’re running
please name the beat sound.. your trick is so useful thank you sir
This was incredibly useful. Thank you, mind-reading YouTube algorithms!
If I want to run 1.5 miles In under 12:08 what speed should I have the treadmill on?
What’s funny is, another video recommended heel to butt style.
Good treadmill>>> arah.in/hFHr initially it came with a busted part the amazon return policy came and picked itup. Weslo recently called me to let me know the warranty was expiring. I may reup on it.

Peloton running classes on the ipad are a game changer for treadmill running
Wait… what? This is like GOT and my cable cut out. Please!!!!
My ankles and calves always hurt when i jog. Is it because I’m flat footed?
That clip of heather holding onto the treadmill cracks me up!! See it all the time at the gym.
I like running on a treadmill. I run around 50 miles a week and where I run the rds are challenging in the winter, where my lt hip dips because of the rd and the slick ice and snow stresses the piriformis so the relief of running straight on the TM I feel balances me out. Having said that I am always working on my form whether on the TM or not: don’t get me wrong I love to run outside when the rds are clear and safe, and I feel it is the more natural of the two.
Evening around 3pm, too lazy to wake up early in the morning
Nice. I posted a hill sprint workout on my channel for anyone looking for a challenging hill sprint workout
Good to know not to put the foot to far away in front of the center of mass
This helped out a lot, wish my knees didn’t hurt after a run though.
morning runner. Another treadmill workout I use as a recovery workout is putting the treadmill at a steep slope (12 percent is max on mine) and doing a slow pace for an hour. Very low impact but good cardio effect.

Ive seen may of these and they all seem really awkward…..between the two presenters…..
Many youtube videos say that we should run flat feet!
Wha du heck should I adopt.
Good thing I watching this before it gets recommended to me 5 years after
Just use Zwift Run. You’ll never mind using a treadmill ever again
Nice! hey if you want to see more running, you can see new adventures on my channel! Awesome new places, new people and a lot of fun!
if you don’t mind to explain why do i get pain in front of my knee when i run on the treadmill? wht am I doing wrong? thank you
I find it weird how all the track/running coaches are always chunky as hell
Wow omg thank u I watched a lot of videos and this is the first one that made freaking sense
Never heard of HEAL striking. Is it an acronym? Just kidding!
Normally treadmill is called indoor equipment to take various types of exercise. The main aim of using treadmill is to take running aspect for keeping body fit.
However it is very tonic videos in this case.

Sorry guys, but who has Access to a treadmill right now?! Probably just a few Lucky ones
Looks same 100%. Different body types. Nothing to learn here.
Where’s the rest of the video? This was done really well and to the point, would love to learn some more from these two guys
Does having stupidly large calves change anything? I’m 5’ 9”, 168lbs with 17” calves. I would love to run 5-10k’s but I feel my calves won’t let me.
I would greatly appreciate any feedback. At this point I think I suffer from exercise induced compartment syndrome as my calves become insanely tight during long distance runs.
Cool, im a heel striker. I always knew im doing something wrong but didn’t know how to correct it
what brand and type are the running shoes wore by the person walking into the gym first. blue with red soles
I used to watch TV, now i’m usually far behind on youtube videos I watch that. Wednesday night seems to be a common treadmill night, perfect for the GTN Show! It is still drudgery though. I could never do more than 6 miles. Usually I only do 3-4.
Sorry running update. I tried your form in april and saw instant results with higher cadence and faster pace. I then got injured and after a few months I started back up again. I tried a different form and well I was really discourage. Struggling around 159 to 163 cadence. Now this last 10 days I went back to your basics in this video. Last few runs have been 165 and 166 cadence. Very smooth. I find myself in the 168 to 170s now! I almost have up. Thank you
shorter strides allow you to toe / forefoot strike and bring up you cadence using more cardio. vs long stride and using more muscle endurance. heel striking can also cause more back pain. always best to strike with your fore foot.
When it is being done on the road, does the foot slide back on the ground to push yourself off?
It’s incredible how I’ve never been taught correct forms at school.
Form should be the very first thing you should practice at school, later in life most people are always doing exercises the wrong way.
Very helpful videos. I wish you could have got a shot of the two runners at the same time to see the right and wrong way to see the differences. Still nice to see the differences. Just started running and hoping, if my fifty plus body allows, to run some races in the spring. Thanks for the help.
Any advice for sore calves while running, it doesn’t happen all the time but when I try to run faster than 9 or 10 mph that’s when one of my calves really tightens up and then I can’t run for about a week
So, Jared lands his foot ahead of its body,
Jared has lower cadence,
Jared runs with a hunch back,
Don’t be like Jared.
Jared’s running sucks!!
hi friends will u tell me that which one is best treadmill, elliptical or bicycle?
talking about fast cadence, i was reviewing your stats on strava for the bath half last week heather and somehow ended up looking at emma pooley’s mistakenly thinking i was viewing a 2020 run for her (was actually last year’s). He average cadence was in the high 190s spm with a lot above 200 steps per minute
morning, to start off the day really well. On an empty stomach.
First tip is to wipe the snow off your feet as you enter the gym.
Also, why would I want to run? I don’t want to look like any of these people.
I always found pace to be the most important. Arm movement is important to, and picture holding a penny between thumb and forefinger as lightly as possible before it falls.
For my long run i love to go out early Sunday morning. Otherwise during the week I run in the evening just before dinner.
Great tips thanks. I am doing the running workouts on zwift whilst watching Netflix. Going great
Yep just did an interval session on the treadmill in the heat today and you’re spot on. I was struggling to maintain pace in those conditions and cadence plummeted and could tell form was getting worse but was the only way to stay upright at that pace! Will try slower with more incline.
Cadence matching music.. haha what are we going to listen to? Gabba? Fit and deaf
Nice a video that’s not 11 minutes long, I don’t need a fucking intro I want to know the proper form because my shoulders get fucked
I run like this in my five fingers. Well I’m still in the initiation phase. It’s a big change
Heal strike? Sounds like you guys have been playing too much World of Warcraft.
All jokes aside, good pointers! Going to try them out tonight!
This is the best, simplest one on YouTube even though it’s not completed. Thanks.
Ironman and black widow die, and captain america lifts thors hammer
I wish the video had kept going, i was really interested in where he was going next when it cut off
Kids in ny gym class maxed the ish out and did it like bbbyyaasshh
Good advice-however if you spell your foots heel as they did here ( heal) I question the overall intelligence quotient involved. 1 thing they left out that is paramount: you must be @ 1% to equal flat outside to compensate for no wind resistance. I do all my mega fast track stuff on the mill-always slightly uphill. It pays HUGE dividends in the long run( pun intended-haha!)
Thank you, this is the best explanation for correct running.
Never try to emulate someone else’s “running form” (great way to get injured). Running is NOT Rocket Science, there’s nothing to “think” about here or at least there shouldn’t be. Never try to work against you own bodies natural biomechanics (people are unique in this way). Run the way that feels the most natural to YOU not some random dude on YouTube.
The “demonstration” is fine it’s just that people should understand that it’s not smart to try to emulate somebody else’s running form.
What I don’t get is why we have to focus on how our body is moving in order to get it to move correctly. It should come natural
Why didn’t you get one person to show the good and bad form. Would have been so much easier to see for point 1 along with more footage of their feet.
Running in the wrong way could result in draining of more energy and giving less of results. Thankyou so much.
What kind of a treadmill is this? And where is the rest of the video?
Some good points about. Proper cadence being about 180 strides per minute.
Middle aged runner here. Occasionally I run to the song Boys of Summer. It’s prefect for stride. The big bonus is that without listening to the song I can recall the background melody perfectly to check my cadence on any run.
Today during a run I came upon a young taller runner (I am tall as well) who was lumbering with a slow cadence. Each step landed hard. I wanted to say something but did not.
Runners might get away with bad form with low miles but form is critical with high miles. Great video! People should take the advice.
So few people ever properly use a treadmill. Most just go through the motions.
I wonder if you basically jump in place how do you move forward running on the road? Do this works only on treadmill where it’s the road coming to you?
i struggle with caving my chest in and looking down at my feet when i get tired. i constantly have to correct myself. so i need to continue to practice. i figure once i get used to running i will be able to maintain form even when i am tired.
Tell Ed Moses about kadence. Like all sports the so called experts say what’s right and wrong but the champions often use “wrong” techniques, so just do it your own way.
Looks exactly the same to me. I don’t see how you would even know.
My training has changed, my commute is core to my plan and that is no longer the case. Looking forward to the first “Virtual Commute” on Zwift!!
Does anyone else find that treadmills hurt their knees? I run 75-80km a week on the roads without any great problems, but ten minutes on a treadmill and my knees start hurting. I warm up as usual, and my cadence is the same.
by the looks of HR when i run i need to improve my aerobic base, does this mean long slow steady state cardio keeping my HR to a certain max?
what brand of tights are those. they dont look bad for tights.
I like to just listen to 180bpm music and just run to the beat, very easy, very effective.
Thanks for the video, check this Safety measures on using Treadmills for your new Image health, wellness and fitness.

I stopped running indoor and outdoor because of heel-striking. I though such pain was immune by runners after a few years, but no. Figures I’ve been doing it all wrong.
I run weird for some reason.. i run like i’m on my tip toes but it feels unnatural to run flat foot/on my heel like normal people do.
Would this harm me? should i learn to run normal? or is it ok for me to run weird?
Not everyone is born equally. Bone structures & joints are different. BS
I’m running with similar form and having an issue with my left calf cramping or straining the muscle and it’s causing me to stop running. Trying to stretch it out but it’s been nagging me for about a month since I switched to running this way
Morning. I used treadmills for speed workouts but have recently had two bouts of plantar fasciitis. Both times I’ve felt the initial pain after a speed workout on the treadmill. When I finally recover, do you recommend just doing speed work outside?
Guys I am planning to buy a new treadmill, any suggestions?
Thanks for the pro-tips. I especially appreciated the guidance regarding cadence. Intellectually, I recognized a higher cadence as optimal. I adopted it for cycling to much personal improvement. What was easy for me to accomplish on a bike eludes me on foot. I’ll recruit my wife’s treadmill during this winter to work on recognizing my present cadence and improving it to reach the 90-count recommended in your clip.
So should you strive to always keep the same cadence both during racing as well as the saturday morning recovery ride?
3:52 seeing walking(marching) backwards makes me cracking up, but not as much as the Monty Python walk at 5:52
Walking backwards is brilliant, used for rehab to increase neurological pathways, even shown to benefit non rehab programs!
I’d call myself an intermediate runner. I’ve struggled to run properly the whole time though. My calves or Achilles’ tendon would burn and sometimes my hips would ache.
However, after watching this video, I practiced running like this, and it’s much more efficient. No aches, pains, or inflammation. I even ran a lot faster with ease.
This video was a lifesaver. Now I can enjoy running without any pain.
Running on a treadmill is completely different than running naturally.
i read that treadmill running does not work the same muscles as running outside? is this true??
my right foot hurts when I walk, I don’t know what did I do wrong it starter today, but the last time I ran was yesterday! the pain is on the right side.
What bout if I only got 1 leg imma pirate bitchhh
this deserves my like, too many people making videos with long intros. This got straight to the point and I love it.
Christ I needed to see this in middle school. Might of saved my knees
If you attempt to draw your heel to your butt, you engage hamstrings. You don’t want that. If it happens as a result of reflex it’s fine.
On treadmill I am doing 15 minutes daily, 4 Min walking at 6 MPH, 7 Min 9 MPH and again 4 min 6MPH, but problem I am facing is that my shins started paining in the anterior part in the center, went through all the medical investigations but nothing came out. Can any one help me in finding out how I could get rid of this shin pain.
Secondly also started low back pain and my lower back got so red and stiffed. Need suggestions for improvement….
Awesome video. Short, sweet, and simple. Very easy to understand
would have been great to see a side view of the tips, in order to get a better idea of the position of the heal and the back
Do your training on Rollers, if you get ones with resistance and stick on a Power Meter it even works with Zwift. Much more engaging, builds smoother pedal stroke and bike skills.
please add the subtitles. second, mute the voice and explain by focusing on the point or on the body part. third, try to use points on the board. finally, thank you very much for your effort
my partner films free city walk through video’s to walk/run to, (you can see them by clicking my icon) hope you find this to be helpful.
Please consider all ranges of age and levels when you provide information regarding the treadmill. Some people are just starting out on a treadmill and can’t walk 3 to 5 miles. Remember there are Seniors who are looking for guidance:P
Get an injury… a treadmill can be very useful popping out and running 6 miles then the injury re-occurs again… then walk 6 miles home) or on the treadmill for 10minutes on and 10 minutes off… no need to walk home….! until back to normal then back to cross country fun!
