It’s stupid for the government to regulate what you can eat, deer jerky is so much better!
The Meat Makers Turkey Jerky: Turkey Breast, Apple Vinegar, honey, pepper, spices, lemon, salt, brown sugar and natural lemon flavor. I buy this because it is the best one and it only has 2g of sugar in 100g.
thanks for the positive words! go google “MSG obesity induced rats”…this will take you to a study of two rats fed the same diet and exercise program except one diet included the MSG additive.
Brad, love you vids. Keep it up and thanks for helping america at large!!
Quick question. This is not the first Vid that you say no to MSG and I wondered why MSG was bad for you so i goggled it. I can’t really find any scientific studies that show how its bad but I was able to find some that says, by itself, its a pretty benign ingredient, just a flavor enhancer. So if healthy food had MSG in it, would it be bad? Whats your thought?
Ewww, beef jerky. Guys like strange stuff. lol. Thanks for advocating moderation, Brad. I’ll have my chocolate covered pistachios. ; )
Yah they have to hire people to steal it from the sasquatch and that costs money. People are so stupid this is so obvious.
go with the gluten free kind if you’re looking to cut gluten
The issue is that none of it can be clinically proven to actually help someone get better. Anything to do with the body is individual and each case is a little different. Claiming something works is a huge risk.
This was great, thanks, I been tryin to find out about “paleo snack delivery” for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of Diyarter Benaylee Cure (do a search on google )? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my m8 got great results with it.
What is better for muscle gain high quaility foods but less of it of lots of semi healthy food. Like burritos and eggs
Top and bottom round are generally the cheapest cuts of beef you can get. They are great for jerky but terrible for almost anything else
Hello Shark Tank Australia! I’m always waiting for your next video to come, and I’m one of the first viewers to watch them.
MY SUGGESTION:
It would be great if you post videos more often, at least once every day.
I’m technically “overweight” so one would think my goal would be to lose weight, but my mental health is never in a good place when I do lose weight and ever since I realized that about myself, I may not LOVE my body all the time, but I am a lot better at accepting my body for what it is. Also ever since then my weight has fluctuated a lot less, which in turn has left me a lot less stressed.
The clickbaitiest title yet! He merely asserted he was not enamoured with the superfood phenomenon and thus it would not be a good fit.
What are your professional intake to the salt flush? Thank you!
Your videos are so informative and I really appreciate it. So thank you so much!
Great video! I’ve enjoyed so much. I agree we are all in our own very journeys. Body positivity and acceptance feels different for everyone.
I went allin Jan 2019 to get my period back and my journey was very different to other women in the community, I had 6 pack throughout even when I was the heaviest I’ve ever been, on my period and eating all the foods. I know my body is out of the standard and I should acknowledge that more often but for me is the standard if it makes sense. You say it really well, you do you! Some girls have genetically diverse body compositions and habits and thats OK if it feels right.
On the contrary, like Nico said, I have friends not fuelling themselves enough but greater body fat% and they still having HA they are afraid of gaining weight and thats not Ok, we want a fearless society! Thank you, Thank you again:-) You look so gorgeous btw
Thank you so much for this video. I found it very helpful and informative. I don’t use TikTok and was quite shocked with those videos you shared. I know that I would not be full eating her diet, especially with how much she works out. I had anorexia as a teenager, and even though that was over a decade now, I still get triggered by things like that. I have struggled a lot more with my body lately because my body is similar to how Cassey looked before she lost all the weight. I thought that was a healthy weight and now I feel like I should lose weight to look more like how she looks now. I think some of her content is problematic for people with eating disorders or a history of eating disorders.
I love this video so much!! I completely think you can be body positive and want to lose weight. I am currently trying to lose just a few pounds in all honesty mostly for vain reasons, but as someone who struggled with orthorexia in the past I can see how different this journey is than my journey when I was in that unhealthy mental space. It is so much better to come at weight loss from a wholistic and thoughtful place and make sure I check in with my body and am always relaxed. I also give my body the space to do what it needs to and in the recent past my body was not yet ready to lose the weight I gained recovering so I respected that. I think for me body positivity is about being okay with the fact that no one has a perfect body and I never will either yet that doesn’t mean that all different kinds of bodies are not beautiful and deserve respect and kindness including my own. Body positivity for me is also largely about checking in with my body all the time and having almost constant conversations with how it’s feeling and also with losing weight I have found it so important to experiment and find out what works for you as an individual not just physically but mentally and emotionally.
I feel like the ‘body positivity’ movement has been misconstrued with the ‘Healthy at every size’ movement. I think the problem with these ‘movements’ is that they tend to focus on what society would consider as an overweight woman and everyone that doesn’t fit into the category is not worthy of expressing there version of being body positive. Body positivity to me is about loving yourself and your body enough to take care of it and I think most would agree that that starts with our mental health. If loving yourself and your body means that you need to loose weight for health reasons or to feel better physically, then you should do it and if anyone’s got something to say about it… they aren’t really being body positive are they.
Can you do a video on self love and body positivity versus radical self acceptance? I think your channel will cover it very well!
I like to count calories once in a while cuz im trying to lose weight and also sometimes (not daily) weight my self right when i wake up and it hasnt been fluctuating
I think that people, more now in the digital age, should learn to take more care of themselves than to expect an influencers take care of you and make your decisions depend on them, as well as magazines and other things, come on, we are thinking people, let’s learn to take care of ourselves and stop waiting for others to do it
What about women who forced themselves to eat more to bulk up to look thick?? You never talk about these group?? Any thoughts.
the FODMAPS bit omg yes. dysmorphia, the symptoms of perceptionIfirstfodmap diet plan by my gastroenterologist. WI
When Abbey was really getting into the question can you be body positive and still want to lose weight, I had some thoughts. First, weight loss is not always about how you look. Heart disease is a real problem in my family, and weight loss is a way to be healthier and less at risk for cardiac arrest. My dad was in the best shape of his life when he had his first heart attack. The doctors said if he hasn’t lost weight and been in shape, he wouldn’t have lived. If you were to watch Cassie’s videos you would see that she is constantly reminding you that health should be your number one reason for weight loss. It is important to note though, that losing weight is only the first step in fitness. It is also important to gain muscle and being happy, which can mean eating that cookie or donut. Second, You need all things in moderation, including fat. Fat is something our bodies were built with for a reason. It gives us energy so that we are not 100% reliant on out next meal. Finally, I was struggling a lot with the way I felt when I started using Blogilaties. It helped me release stress and feel more energized.
If you made it this far, please tell me if I missed an important detail!
I think it also depends on the individual. For me, I’m not sure I can ever have weight loss goals that are also body positive, because every time I’ve tried to lose weight, I spiral into horrible mental health & yo-yo dieting. I’m a little overweight, but not to the point where it affects my health at all, so there’s really no reason to lose weight except aesthetics. That’s why my goals lately revolve around eating & exercising for my own strength, health, and enjoyment, and avoiding at all costs looking to the scale for validation. If I lose or gain weight, I don’t really care, I just want to get stronger and enjoy my body. Back before quarantine, I was ice skating 3-4 times a week and eating fairly well, and I actually gained 10lbs! And then my friend came over and asked if I lost weight! Very surreal, and really helped me understand that weight is not the ultimate guide to health.
On the other hand, my dad is obese, and I know it would take pressure off his joints if he could lose some weight. But due to his age and arthritis, it’s really difficult for him. I think in his case, it would be body positive to lose weight.
I get bloated every single night to varying degrees because of IBS, and I can tell you that her meals would mess me up royally. Cabbage, mushrooms, and cauliflower in the same day? Phew.
That “banana test” is bizarre. I am an emotional eater but something I found helpful is asking myself if I feel hungry does any food sounds good?if so, I may be experiencing physical hunger. If I’m craving one particular food then it may be emotional hunger and I take a moment to sit with myself and see if this food is something I actually want or if doing some journaling, yoga etc can help instead. Sometimes I still eat the food even after journaling but at least my chouce turns into a conscious choice instead of an unconscious one. Just something that works for me so I wanted to share.
I personally didn’t like the calorie counting apps because I’d still be hungry after reaching my calorie goal
i think her workouts are good and fun, but her dietary advice has always been meh
Ever since Jenna Marbles left youtube, I’ve been thinking about how most people will never experience the emotional impact of being a social media star, and having a “brand” or business that is so very personal. Cassey Ho and Jenna Marbles have both been on YouTube for over 10 years. Jenna had to leave because of the emotional toll it was taking on her, yet her commenters and online community seem relatively postive. As for Cassey, I tend to see a lot more critical comments on her videos. I think this is because diet, exercise, and fitness are such emotionally charged issues in our society. And when I get a critical comment, I find it almost impossible not to obsess over it, replaying it in my head for days. Cassey and Jenna have probably both read hundreds of comments criticizing them. That has to take a toll.
I love Cassie and I follow her workout YouTube videos nearly every day, but I definitely had to unfollow her on tiktok because of the toxic messages she promoted everyday. I really doubt she does it intentionally, but most of her tiktoks promote diet culture and restrictive eating and it was super triggering for me. It is quite disconcerting how she can send such conflicting messages throughout her content:(
Steve is not the smartest as he seems more people are getting sick due to the factory foods.
The banana test is so ridiculous tbh. If my body wants protein for example, why would I eat a banana?
What’s up with pregancy and watermelon? I’m 29 weeks pregnant and my hubby has to make sure I always have watermelon in the fridge.
I agree with most of the video, however I think the criticism for her “banana test” is a little unfair. In my opinion, it’s taken too literally, and I say this as an overweight person that has always struggled with my weight. The point of the video is to say that one must be mindful of “boredom” hunger or eating something solely because it tastes good. Of course there’s a place for treats once in a while, but the point is that if you don’t want the “healthy” thing to satisfy your hunger, then you shouldn’t be eating just for the sake of eating. That kind of thing can’t really be expressed in a TikTok, and perhaps she could have made a full length Youtube video on the subject, if she hasn’t already. Just my 2 cents!
I used to watch her workout videos a few years ago but I stopped cause her weight was fluctuating beyond the normal amount during that time (she was yoyo-ing quite noticeably). It didn’t sit right with me to “entrust” my fitness/diet routine to somebody who was struggling themselves. Now I got my own fitness routine and a good grasp on how to lose weight the healthy way and I’m 10 pounds away from my ideal weight!
Thank you for the video!
You’re absolutelyit does insinuate that it damages your body (even if she didn’t mean that). Thanks for helping us change our language and views.
The banana test also does not make sense because a banana does not contain all of the macro or micro nutrients required for a balanced diet. And it has very little calories. If it has been awhile since I have eaten, a burger with fat and protein is going to be more satisfying than a banana.
lol I have ibs Fodmap issues and if I tried Cassies anti bloat diet I would end up looking 9 months pregnant
I love how she’s the only YouTuber that reviews others in succchhh a kind way
Totally random but I guess I never noticed the outro music before, LOVE it! And thank you, I learn SO MUCH from your content, I greatly appreciate your voice as an unbiased, kind, educated woman in the field of nutrition. <3
This question in your title is exactly what I’ve been struggling with in myself!!!
I think you ponder to the snowflake culture a little bit too much… what’s wrong with saying “I feel fat today”? Sometimes you wake up in the morning and you feel fat. The same way sometimes you wake up in the morning, your face is unusually glowing that day and you feel pretty. Or you wake up after 4h of sleep and you feel tired. “Fat” can totally be a feeling description. I don’t see where the problem is.
I honestly think that cassey is a great person, and, frankly, the internet mob is so much more problematic and toxic than any one person aiming for weight loss EVER could be. I always, always feel that commenters should take a look in the mirror before coming for someone who’s clearly a good person and always means well. express opinions, but don’t expect that everyone agree. share information, but don’t expect constant adherence to that information. I just have such a problem with the mob coming hard for an AWESOME person sharing years of positive messages and practices with the world because of one weight loss journey. honestly let the first person without sin cast the first stone. let me ask this: abbey herself used to struggle with ED. would this type of public criticism have helped her recovery, or would it cause her further shame and guilt? these public critiques (which often create a mob regardless of disclaimer) can get way more problematic than a formerly orthorexic woman weighing herself every day for 90 days on a wellness journey.
This is total bullshit, no pun intended. Most of the beef used for jerky is made from animals that die from disease and old age in the field because they can’t get top dollar for those so they use them for jerky. Check your bag next time, it tells you right on the back.
Try squid jerky, 16g of proteins for only 90 kcal and they taste delicious
I am currently trying to figure out how to have a good relationship with myself and my body and now I ask myself if I am actually body positive.
I mean, sure, I’d tell everyone that every body is beautiful and valid and I’d never say negative things about other people’s bodies. But at the same time, I look at myself in the mirror sometimes and tell myself that I’m ugly, knowing that I’m not. I sit in a train and look at other women, thinking that they’re fat or ugly, knowing that they’re not.
I know that every body is beautiful. I really want to believe it. But I can’t stop all the negative thoughts in my head, even though I know better.
It’s upsetting to me that he would say, or anyone would say that body positivity cannot include weight loss. It’s just wrong. It’s unhealthy and it’s dangerous
In the past, I would track my calories and congratulate myself for lower and lower numbers. I realized how wrong this was and stopped for a couple years. But I recently noticed that I was really tired and getting regular headaches. So I started tracking again and realized that I was eating about 1,100 calories. I now check in throughout the day to make sure I’m eating enough and celebrate reaching higher calories (avg 1700) and still losing the weight I want to lose.
Its so interesting that steve is such a smart guy yet doesnt believe in health lol
I was a pop pilates/blogilates follower that developed an eating disorder in my early teens and I have struggled ever since. Her advice and general stance was so harmful back then, but I didn’t know about the most recent things. That truly breaks my heartshe and I are both still struggling.
i wish she would just stick to her workout videos, seeing her what i eat in a day a few years ago definitely triggered my ed. i felt like i was over eating when i was a competition swimmer swimming 4 hours a day 6 days a week along with extra work outs for cross training. it was horrible and i ended up collapsing at swim practice multiple times. i acknowledge her wanting to document her health goals and journey, however i hope she also understands how it affects others. even if it isn’t meant so.
Im currently striving towards my goal of seeing my abs because that is something that I always wanted to achieve. That being said, I went into my lean diet with a very careful approach of always making sure that I fuel my body and never allow myself to feel hungry even if I go over my limit. Its been slow and steady progress and I make sure that I’m always checking with myself to see if I’m feeling happy and satisfied. If I feel crappy something has to change. If I crave something I have it. Life is too short to be cutting things you love out of your life.
Love this video! Just wanted to point out an ad that I’m seeing a lot on Abbey’s videos. The one in particular is for a weight loss program called vshred, and while he brings up some good points in the ad, he also says some things that seem pretty misguided and potentially harmful to me. Like that the recommendations to eat lots of fruits and vegetables is wrong, and how he promotes his program as a quick fix to lose weight fast. I love Abbey’s videos, but maybe take a closer look to see if the ads on the videos support the overall message of wellness promoted on the channel?
If my body says get a burger. Trust and believe, I am getting that burger because I always feel great after I eat what I crave and don’t strom through the refrigerator because I didn’t satisfy my needs… Listen to your body. Your body is your doctor. Of course still talk with your doctor when something changes.
I love the fact that you keep us totally informed with scientific facts. Thanks for all that you do.
I like that you have been taking feedback. It’s great to see people evolve and grow!
Cassey started posting a lot of stories and tiktoks where she bends over so the thigh gap would be obvious. I stopped looking because to someone who knows, this is clearly ”hidden” thinspo. A lot of focus on the hip and thigh area.
So many people forget that salt is an essential nutrient, and it shows. Keep drinking water, keep eating as much salt as your taste buds say you should (sodium is so important that they evolved to taste it specifically), and your body will usually regulate the rest.
No talk about sales, products, turnover, overheads, profit, what she will do with 200k, what she wanta out of a shark, how the hell she got to a 1m valuation. Watching this after Dragons Den is like watching children pitch business ideas in grade 5.
Is this a mountain America plug with continues images of comparing it to Jack links showing that Jack links is inferior
I wasn’t unhappy with my weight or how I looked but I got worried because I had put on weight and my fat percentage was 33%. I always have eaten very little and relatively healthy. I have never binged or over eaten. The only thing causing my weight gain was snacking in the evening. I realised after really thinking about it that it was my way to fill the emptiness in my life. Because I am lonely and I battle with many mental issues. Food was my comfort. So, it actually helped me to be for a while on restrictive diet where I didn’t eat any sweets and I only allowed three meals a day. It only lasted a week but it helped me to stop eating for my feelings because it forced me to face the things I was struggling with. I agree the very restrictive diet would have not worked for longer time but it was a great way to start my journey. Because it sort of cleared my mind and it was easier to understand what were my triggers and why I was snacking all time. If I had jumped on the intuitive diet right a way, I would have justified my snacking by saying that its what my body wants. I know that it’s not what intuitive eating is but that is what I would have done. But because I took a break and actually thought things through for a week, I can now eat for my needs and occasionally enjoy something sweet after meal if I feel like it. But I am satisfied with just tiny portion of it instead of eating lot of it like I used to.
I mentioned this before but I would love to see a review on Sarah’s day and also the skinny confidential! The skinny confidential is more on IG though but some of her tips are kinda yikes
Anyone can call themselves a Nutritionist. Dietitian is the protected term due to the training involved. I should know . And Steve is right, there is no such thing as a “super food”. Nonsense.
Thank you for bringing up FODMAP’s and those of us who are medically diagnosed with a bloating problem that interferes severely with our daily lives (IBS, SIBO, etc.). I really love Cassey but when I saw her “de-bloat” video I realized that those foods were actually foods that could be triggering for a lot of people, myself included. I also think there is a big difference between “bloating” and “distension” that often isn’t talked about, and people use the term bloating interchangeably with distension when they aren’t the same thing.
“Does banana sound good?Or you want burger and cookie?”
They all sound gooood. Give me all of them right now
What if your mouth hunger makes you want to eat the entire cake
There’s no one definition of body positivity because thin women came along and twisted it to fit them and their needs, and to hell with the fat black women who actually created it. There’s history behind bod pos, and it’s definitely something, as a biracial fat women, that I stay far away from now.
The banana test is so weird to me as an autistic woman! lol. Bananas scare me because the texture is challenging, not just for my mouth but for my hands. I never know whether I’m going to be able to handle it. I like apples a lot more, but the actual physical sensation of holding an apple (or apple wedges, or slices, or whatever) is mentally challenging. I can be craving an apple and staring at an apple on the table in front of me and still find it hard to eat the apple. Sometimes I don’t want a cookie at all, I actually want veggies, but the sensory challenge of preparing and eating them is too much, and I’m so hungry I just eat a cookie so my stomach stops growling.
I don’t feel it’s possible to be completely body positive. It’s always a work in progress because there are so many societal pressures. We should encourage women to feel happy with their bodies without expecting them to consistently be ‘body positive’, that’s a huge burden to place on any individual.
I promise you a banana will never sound good to me… but I still eat
I was constantly bloated, gasy, uncomfortable and had sharp very hurtful abdominal pain. That’s when you have to do something and no it wasn’t not having dessert and drinking water. I went to an endogastrologist and found out that I am lactose and fructose intolerant and have a sensitivity to histamine… so yeah
When I eat out of emotions I always eat bad! And usually eat too much!
Calorie counting is the only way I can do weight loss. It’s not really about guilt, but more like I am not good at eyeballing food and I eat too much. I do hope to get to a point, when I am maintaining, where I will be able to not count anymore.
I want to lose weight, eat foods that make me feel good, and enjoy exercise to lower my risk for heart disease. Many of my family members have had heart disease young, and I’m positive I want to be in this body for a long time!
This is a great video and I agree with you on a lot of points. However I think it is important to point out that Cassey has a massive following which is largely made up of young people/ teengagers. When she started her 90 day journey she said one of her reasons for posting throughout the journey is because her followers are her ‘accountability partners’. I feel that in this way she is underestimating the amount of power that she, as an influencer, has over the opinions and feelings of young people who are only beginning to from their ideas about body image and food.
You can still be positive about your body and still want to improve it positive doesn’t mean perfection! If you love your body, making it healthier isn’t a bad thing.
I loooovvee Cassey so much I’ve been following her since I was a sophomore in high school and I’m a sophomore in college!
I do really love this take on it. I’ve been following Cassie’s workouts and her blog since i was about 12 years old, which was honestly the start of a lot of my restriction/binge cycle. As someone who grew up mentally ill, I always appreciated the accessibility of her workouts because it gave me the opportunity to move and strengthen my body in ways that felt “lazy” to me, because I could do it on the floor of my room, and it really became an essential part of my mental health maintenance. At the same time, I always felt it disingenuous for her to phrase some of her (more recent) videos, such as the fitness beauty standards, as an antithesis to who she is and her body, when the truth is that while women’s bodies go through “trends,” ultimately being skinny is what is valued by society, and what will always be considered attractive. Not that you can’t go through a weight loss journey while being “body positive” but rather that Cassie acting as though her body is anything but the ideal and something that is largely unattainable by most women just doesn’t sit right with me.
I think you can be body positive and lose weight if you are not a healthy weight and you need to be a healthy weight for your height and age. I think the main goal should be to feel good after you eat and exercise if that’s your goal then everything else will fall into place. You might not look like what’s body type is in style right now. But if you worked hard at the body you have. I think you will be happy with the results you get.
U should checkout chloe ting!! And emi wong, I’m curious on what ur thoughts are.
Body neutrality and fat acceptance are both movements that make sense. Body positivity is senseless and has largely pushed out the people that started it in favor of those that are thin and traditionally attractive. I am in the fat acceptance movement, and as a fat woman of color it’s important for me to make my own space, people are constantly forcing people like me out of the conversation and I will continue to make space for us. Body positivity isn’t equivalent to treating everybody with respect.
That banana test is just going to encourage eating disorders in my opinion. I can see why it triggered a lot of people.
I like Cassey’s workouts, been doing them for years but I don’t really like her attitude towards food… I’ve suffered from eating disorders and I think videos like her “I didn’t eat for 3 days!!!” can be so triggering and she ought to be aware of that especially as her audience is mostly young women. I feel like she has her own unresolved body issues she could do with working on. She didn’t even need to lose weight before that 90 day challenge thing…
like a bunch of other people in the comments I had to stop watching cassie because it was triggering my eating disorder, but I really hope she is in a better place and can feel good about herself. personally I can’t have a healthy relationship with myself if I am thinking about weight loss, and when I exercise it’s about feeling strong and doing something nice for my body. it’s different for everyone and I’m happy that other people can be in touch with health goals that involve weight.
I love Cassey!
Her work outs are the best for my body type. Guaranteed, most people follow her for great workouts, not food advice.
She doesn’t claim to be a nutritionist or dietitian.
She is documenting a journey and she shares her mistakes, not so good choices too.
Love it, that barely known YouTubers wanting to make money, get views by using her name.
Pathetic!
I have been following her for years. I love her content but the recent weight loss/pound loss numbers were definitely triggering.
its weird to watch this kind of content while im still in the middle of an ed relapse, but maybe its a good sign, i hope so atleast
I am currently involved in a LCHF lifestyle and it has changed my life for the better. I started wanting to lose weight because I was feeling almost depressed overall and I just didn’t have the feeling of control over my life. My weight gain was a consequence of hormonal problems because of POS and I felt really helpless and also felt bad, because I received messages about how that couldn’t possibly be the reason even though I know my body and I detected this change. So at first my approach was very non-body positive I exercised a bunch, starved myself etc. And got no results which made me feel even worse. So what I’m trying to say is that with this diet and a yoga exercise programme I’m following I feel much, much better. And if I sometimes indulge myself, I do it and there’s no guilt because of it. I don’t know if I ever felt this way about my body before. Even though I am very far away from the weight I had in the past, I weirdly feel better about myself now than I did then. Sorry for the long comment:)
lol bananas never sound good to me unless they are frozen, on a stick and dipped in chocolate.
not related to the content but related to the presentation: Abbey Sharp is my public speaking ICON. i was trying to figure out why i am so addicted to her videos when i don’t really know any of the people/videos being reviewed and don’t spend that much time thinking about nutrition / healthy eating…. but its because she speaks so clearly, her body language is conducive to the points shes putting across, and the flow /structure is so seamless!!! wondering if she took public speaking classes or something because she makes what every teacher has ever told me to do when speaking to an audience look easy lol. definitely gonna binge some abbey sharp next time i have to do a presentation.
I thought lazy keto was the junk food version of keto also.. it is not just not counting your macros.
When did body positivity turn into “if you want to lose weight you aren’t body positive”? If you are happy and accepting of your body then that’s great. If you need to gain weight that’s great. If you want to lose a few pounds and are doing it in a safe and healthy way then that’s also great. Regardless of size you have the same value.
Hi Abbey,, I was wondering if you knew of a dietitian who specializes in IBS who does virtual sessions? I have 3 major health issue type 1 diabetic, ibs, and high cholesterol and triglycerides. I live in Sydney nova scotia so we don’t have many dietitians around to find someone help mostly with my IBS. Thank you for your videos they help a lot
While I totally see what you’re saying about the dangers of counting calories and using MyFitnessPal, I’m 70 days consistently using it and I decided to not use it to eat as many cookies as fits within a calorie goal, but to see what nutrients I was missing. By tracking and even weighing something as silly as spinach, I found out I don’t get nearly enough iron in my diet. I Also use this as an experience to learn what is in the food I was eating and realizing I needed more healthy fat, fiber, and proteins which is why I was binge eating so much. However, I have been on the other side where I didn’t really care about nutrition so I totally understand how many people can misuse the app. I think if you use it right and realize it’s just a tracker and estimate, it can be helpful to learn about what is in food. Also, I have successfully not tracked food either eating out or at parties and that has been a great mental challenge so I know I don’t have to rely on my tracker every single day.
Body positivity is NOT even about self-love, weight loss, and all of that. Body positivity is a social justice movement for marginalized bodies who are underrepresented, ridiculed, and not accommodated. HAES is the philosophy that says you shouldn’t intentionally lose weight and that health comes in every size. Many people involved in body positivity also practice HAES, but they’re not the same thing. If you are relatively thin, white, and able-bodied like myself, body positivity is not for you. You can be a body positivity ally and orkmotr education around marginalized bodies and advocate for disability accessibility, but using it to talk about your body and your weight loss is misusing the movement. We already have a name for positive body image: positive body image. It’s not that hard. Body neutrality is about not putting too much thought into your body image. Please educate yourselves because marginalized bodies are harmed by people misusing body positivity. I’m surprised Abbey hasn’t educated herself better on this
Jack links $10.00
Clover valley $6.00
Jerky jerky from asian hooker $Priceless.00
2:14– 2:16 you stole this clip from Joshua Wiessman from his video on that dehydrator in it
Wait what? Lean beaf is more expensive than fatty scraps? Yeah I bet, scraps sounds pretty like the very bottom of the beef scale if you dont include the silver skin parts.
However, lean beaf doesnt make very good steaks. You want fat in your steak. so I would not say that you need super high quality beef to make jerky. But the lore lean the better. And Leand does not equal to quality.
Make your own jerky!!!!! Super easy, super cheap and you know exactly what’s in it.
Be happy bruh, here it is way more expensive since they need to import it from the US to europe…
I hardly ever buy Beef Jerky. Living in Europe you get a small bag that cost a fortune. Most of the time I make it myself, cheaper and I get more.
Ranchers have seen their price fall and beef jerky is still way more expensive.
Make it yourself cost about 1/4 of the price if you do… We make our own version called Biltong here in SA and it’s big as BBQ. Silverside is the best cut as well…
I can’t believe how you made a 3 minutes video feel so dragged out.
All I got from this is that it’s hard to make should have explained how much it costs them to produce but instead I get the answer you would feed a child a very vague answer with a lot of opinions
Thanks for the useful context of “technology”, “more technology”, and “tech stuff”
Nope get local beef jerky in large quantities for cheaper than big name brands. I can get an entire pound for about $30 and it’ll last me multiple times more than regular bags of the same weight.
The animals are caged just saying none of this crap. Just saying
Thanks Brad, great video as always!! I keep Turkey Jerky in my glove compartment I excepted the fact that, no it’s not the best thing I could eat but it’s better then being out and starving and possible eating something worse! It really tides me over until I can eat a real meal!
Come on Australia don’t be copying Dragons Den with the clickbait titles now!
Why Beef Jerky is so Expensive: Because you’re all idiots.
I’m a butcher and you can make the stuff yourself for the cost of some old meat (crap from the back of your freezer or nearly expired stuff from the grocery store) and a 40$ dehydrator. Add whatever seasonings you want and some salt. At the plant we jack the price up an absurd amount because people will pay it; we charge 7.99 for 3.5 ounces when we could still be making a tidy profit if we charged 7.99 for a pound. The markup is how we make money off of beef cattle. Also, don’t use prime meat for jerky, use crap like a shoulder roast, beat it to tenderize it, marinate it, and dry it. It might sound like a lot but you’re only spending a few minutes a day, over maybe 3 days, to make the stuff in massive batches. The stuff you buy at the story is overpriced, full of preservatives, and usually tastes worse than what you can make yourself.
Beef prices rising…
Me laughs in Australia where a kilo of steak is $15
How do you figure competition raises price? By nature competition produces better quality and lower priced products.
Did you use the brod and taylor video where Joshua Weissman made beef jerky and you didn’t cite it?
I’ll never understand the logic of modern jerky, I understand that in the last it was to preseve it but think about it…all the water that goes into growing the beef only to dehydrate it
I don’t want your fake beef jerky near my real howmade beef jerky
Beef Jerky is cheap. I bought a cheap dyhardater from Cabales.
And I buy 10 pounds of beef for 65 dollars Canadian. Total cost about 70 bucks.
Takes me a day and half to dyhardate all the beef though. As my dyhardater is small each batch takes 5 hours on high. Takes about 5 to 6 batches to do 10 pounds.
Every person: ew cow tongue
Anyone who’s ever had cow tongue: it’s not bad
Beef is more expensive to raise is a bald lie. If they are raised indoors on a methane farm, maybe, but if they are raised organically, the old fashioned way, they are cheaper to raise than chickens. They are supposed to be raised on rocky, partially wooded land, which will also be cheaper than the flat land required for other animals.
i don’t think people understand how much meat is needed to make a little bag of meat jerky.
I would rather pay for a nice filet mignon than an old dried out piece of meat
Who else thought this was a Buisness Insider video and not Mashed
P.S cow tongue is pretty good….go to your local taco stand and ask if they have “tacos de lengua” you won’t be disappointed
I thought she was saying Heelieyoka instead of Heal Your Gut
I have no appetite for beef jerky anymore after eating quite a lot of it one summer several years back
In germany a big bag is like 2.5€ (3$ roughly?). In sweden a small pack is like 4.5€ (6$ish), it’s insanely expensive…
Jerky was pricey so i decided to make my own. I took it to work once and the guys loved it…They actually convinced me to sell them some, by the time i knew it word spread and now Iv been selling it for about 3yrs now lol meats pricey so i only sell it when the meats on sale for $3.29lb (reg price $6)…..10lbs of meat will get me a little more than 4lbs dry, sooooooo i make a decent profit when i buy 30-50lbs of meat to dehydrate. Its a lot of work so now i know why jerkys very expensive.
I have Hashimoto’s (hypothyroidism) and for 15 years counting calories is the ONLY way for me to not gain weight. If I eat to satiety every day even with fun strenuous workouts, I gain.
Body positivity should be broadened to being grateful for the body you have been given no matter the size if your nose, color of skin etc… and that love should motivate us all to lead a healthier life… my healthy is not skinny. When i was skinny i had little energy and i wasnt happy. When im curvy i feel happier and am fulllll of energy… size 2 is not everyones happy place…
That’s like telling the plug you don’t want to pay for the stems in your nugs.
Oberto factory outlet store is down the road from work. Life is good.
I make it myself. 3lbs at a time and the cost is significantly less then one small bag. So this is all bullshit!
Is it though? My butcher makes five dollar packs of jerky with pretty good beef
Everything is unhealthy it just depends on how unhealthy it is
Cheapest cuts of meat soaked in artificial smoke and flavors marked up to sky high prices.Id rather just buy a steak.
Circa 0:46 Shouldn’t increased competition lead to lower prices?
Steve really has a whole notebook full of where everyone is from
Jeanines face after the gave that whole speech was like what the hell am I getting into?
I mean go to the butcher it’s way cheaper because they don’t use huge machines they do it the old fashioned way so its cheap as
I read the title and straight away knew it was Steve saying this
The two female judges are always so greedy. I would never make business with them.
What BS is this? She got sick so she wrote books? What makes her an expert? Sounds like a scam.
I think Steve is the one that takes the least amount of deal
Steve was making this video.. Can say from the name of the video.
South African Biltong (cured meat)is better tasting than jerky and simple to make…YouTube has a lot of biltong making videos
I don’t think I want to take health advice from someone who walks that poorly and yet still wears raised shoes!
Steve didn’t become an investor to become rich, he became an investor to eat junk food and beer all day.
I love how steve is always direct and doesn’t give a shit about hurting your feelings.
Naomi made valuation at 400k and janine just below 300k and she accepted janine lol, should have negotiated with naomi
Steve is always such a dick with anything to do with a “healthier” lifestyle lol
I just fukin hate his question. Where you were yesterday?? such an idiot.
Steve needs to stop asking “Where are you from?” When he means, “Where do you live?”
Shed feel and look a lot better on a carnivore dirt. Prove me wrong
“Naomi because your offer is 50%, I feel like it’s half of my company “…. Ah, no.. It’s exactly half your company
Nuts are SHIT dude!! They are full of lectins and other toxins Veggies Fruits Nuts Grains and seeds are all full of toxins!! Carnivore is the way-
You are unrepeatable miracle in your business, which is risk that why I’m out. Nonsense.
Clickbait? Really?? And bad clickbait too, noone said the words “complete nonsense” at ANY point. That left a sour taste in my mouth
Also they let us know, verbally and visually, the evaluation about 3 times, but we know literally nothing else about the business. Time, numbers, cash flow.. those basic details
I would be doing extra due diligence on this woman. I think the Boost juice woman took a big risk with her.
Was I the only one who, as she was walking in, thought that she’d never walked in those shoes before. It reminded me if little kids trying to walk in heels, and I was waiting for her to turn an ankle.
I think she is very smart and sucessful business man.She already sell her books with private contract. Now she sell her program and the product and the on line store
Oh good, a blogging mother who doesn’t like that the drugs that saved her ass have side effects. I’m sure she’s not peddling ABSOLUTE BULLSHIT to people.
As a UK fan to this channel whats wrong with being in the UK Steve.. I sleep there every night… Seriously she was a great entrepreneur that deserved the deal.
I’ve seen some people go zero carb. Is that the way to go? I just don’t understand how they poop without fiber.
Steve: I’m going to make you an offer. I’ll give you the $200K, but I want 50% of the business…. AND we will be adding Bacon to all the products.
Good deal tho.!! That’s the future meals to your door. Makes life lazy& easy.!!
Vegetarianism still contributes to the exploitation, torture, mutilation and slaughter of animals. Veganism is the way to go.
interestingly enough, 99% of the global population eats whatever they want with little repercussions…
i’m out…
If you dont do veganism well, you get alopecia. The very thing she describes.
Steve’s a smart guy and a shrewd operator mostly. Critiquing other sharks offer is fair game, so no dramas with that one. “Bacon with that” herein lies the bind With the greatest respect to him as a innovator, nutrition and gut health are irrefutably the cornerstone of our health now more so than ever given the invasion into our food chain of processed crap high salt, sugars, chemicals and here’s the take-away, whilst it is possible to buy natural bacon, without the chemical preservatives, with are confirmed carcinogens, most bacon contains nitrites and preservatives. Both are no good, but legal so like most things in life we have to make educated decisions and Steve snappy bacon comment is immature and ignorant. The health care market is huge and this lady is clearly onto something and wish her well and Steve can enjoy his beer, bacon and coke. Good health to all.
Nobody:
Not a single soul:
Steve: “Hi I’m Steve. Where’re ya from?”
I personally love Cassey and have been following her for years now. I’ve see her change and grow and I appreciate how open she is about her journey and struggles. I appreciate this review wasn’t about destroying her image but actually looking at her and what she represents with logic and an open heart. I’m loving your reviews and tips so please keep doing it:)
I want to say thank you, Abbey, for making me feel safe here. I started lifting a year ago, and I find myself restricting w/o realizing it often even though I need to eat more than before to be stronger. Thanks for talking about food in this joyful and informative way, I feel understood and proud to have overcome binge eating, something that I’ve told only my closest friends. I have lots of room to improve but thanks to people like you I don’t ever feel guilty eating anything anymore. You are amazing! Stay safe xo
lol you get a business manager that you are paying for at extortionate rates.
Naomi just admit you don’t have a lot of money♂️♂️
Almost seems she would have been happy to give her 90% for less money just to work with her. Lol
This cougar is fake tanned but fine! Probably likes Black men
Hey you, yes YOU. The one who’s restricting their calories. A reminder that 1200-1400 calories is the recommended amount for a 2-3 year old. 1200-1400 is NOT enough for YOU, even if you’re trying to lose weight. Go n get a snack, you’re beautiful, know your worth <3 x
Second time Steve has been totally spot on (1) the yoga pants that sense if you’re on the right position as an engineering student close to my degree, he was correct then and (2) as someone who powerlifts and has a few years of solid coaching and nutrition involvement, he’s once again spot on. This is bullshit.
I wish the producers would stop with the music playing all the time..
lam from the Unitedstates love shark tank austrailia, but iam curious is steve considered a countryboy in austrailia somebody please respond
Where you from?… England……No..no..no…damn it….where did you sleep last night!
If Steve has his own show, no doubt it’ll be called “Where You From?”!
Steve the kind of person to be on cupfuls of meds at the age of 65 with multiple crippling diseases but still be scoffing down some bacon eggs and beers on the daily nd yelling at his TV when the newest science research on the news starts telling him that the problem is in our diet and foods
“I recognize your books and I’m out.” That can’t be a good sign!
The tricky thing about going on a weight loss journey out of “self love” is that it’s too easy to trick oneself into thinking it’s self love when, in reality, it’s doing more harm than good.
I didn’t see Steve say it was complete nonsense. I hope he has it out with you guys at Shark Tank. You can’t go around accusing people of saying something they didn’t say.
The jerky these day’s is terrible. Just salted meat. Not smoked. Buy a cheap smoker and make your own. 100 x better, cheaper and better for you.
“50% equity, I feel like its half of my business” no shit, thanks genius.
As soon as I see these self proclaimed health Gurus…enough internet for today
You need to tell us the brand of the dryer and where to purchase. Also can you dry fruits and vegetables in this dryer?
