Corn? All corn is gmo. Unless it’s organic from the healthstore. So any foods with corn in it from the regular store is deadly. There are other things to avoid in addition to just fodmap diet avoids such as canola oil (& ANY oil OTHER than coconut/olive/grapeseed/avocado and sunflower is ok) tomatoes; No…too acidic…feeds gut bugs. And bananas are wayyy high in sugar unfortunately u wanna avoid or only have a half of one rarely. Please be careful and best to you all on ur journey.
Chickpeas for my ibs are suuuch a trigger, I miss hummus & falaffel
In my country there is almost nothing to buy like this. I have to prepare everything by myself. Only thing that I can find are corn or rice cakes I use instead of bread, and very few sweet things, like cookies but in specialized shops, and they are expensive. I don’t get what people with celiac do…:(
It is hard to prepare food every day, especially if you have to go somewhere out for all day, or to school, or work.
You have great choice, just my doctor said those cherry tomatos are to avoid, instead use regular tomatos.
I have been on this diet for two monts now, and I finally feel really great after long time!:D
You can’t have half of these food on low fodmap… you can’t have blueberries only 40 berries a day. Can’t have almonds but 11 a day. Etc etc
I’ve been using a low Fodmap diet for about a month now. And my symptoms have improved a LOT. I’m still navigating thru this transition but my Vitamix has been a savior!! I make my own rice flour w brown rice. If cookie I use the brown rice flour, stevia, dark chocolate chip, and almond flour. They taste amazing and I have no symptoms afterwards.
You can have real sour dough bread (without yeast) because the bacteria ferments and eats most of the sugars in the wheat that upsets our stomach. I really enjoy the sourdoughs from trader joes. I have been doing the LOW FODMAP diet for a year now and have done extensive research and worked with a dietician. Hope this helps:)
some people are fine on regular milk when going low fodmap, not everyone with ibs is lactose intolerant.
I had my colon removed and my doctor suggested this diet to try. My problem is preparing food while working 70 hrs a week. What can I eat that is all ready prepared?
This video seems to go against a lot of what my SIBO specialist allows. You also (in my opinion) have purchased way too many pre packaged foods. Many ingredients in your gluten free and or lactose free products have ingredients in there that I’m sure are no good for helping your guts.
I would consider just eating whole foods that are strict to the lowest fodmaps.
does anyone know of a cereal that is IBS with fructose sensitivity safe? I’m sick of eating the same breakfast every day. I want some cereal, and it’s even complicated to have almond breeze milk, I haven’t tried rice milk yet, because I haven’t seen any brands that might be ok for me. Soy milk I also keep looking into and I’m led all over the place. I don’t even mind having to add water to powder to make bottles at a time I just need something that won’t make me shake because it’s got some kind of sweetner in it. I’ve been suffering for about four years and my doctors treat me like it’s all psychological when it’s not. I’m 84 pounds, not absorbing nutrients, and have low key lukopenia, I think that’s the spelling as well as low key anemia. Kind of going insane with need for sweet. So if anyone knows if stevia is really ok so I can have a plain muffin, because yours is like mine or if you’ve got a soy milk or cereal I’d love to know. p.s. I also can’t handle lactaid milk so well. all the ‘ols’ are a hazzard for me.
Thank you so much, i just started this diet and i got 2 books and it really helped me to see this!! You are a blessing!!
Costco here in northern Nevada carries a gluten-free and FODMaP friendly bread by a company called Franz. It is actually the only GF bread I’ve found that tastes good untoasted!
Just randomly found your channel, and I already love it. Thank you for being helpful!
You need to work with a registered dietitian to correctly follow the Low FODMAP Diet. It’s more complicated than you think. I’ve been on it for about a month now. You can’t eat yogurt unless it’s lactose-free. So, you wouldn’t be able to eat the yogurt that you showed in this video. Also, the chocolate chip cookies you showed contain prune juice concentrate and you can’t have prunes on the Low FODMAP Diet and prune juice concentrate is even higher in FODMAPs than whole prunes. You need to check the labels on EVERYTHING for EVERY ingredient that’s high FODMAP, not just baked goods for gluten and milk, dairy for lactose etc.
This is a lot of packaged foods, which isn’t health. Just putting that out there. You don’t want to substitute items you can’t have with packaged foods. Just because the cookies didn’t gluten or honey doesn’t make them healthy. I think the idea is to eat as clean as you can to help repair. It’s a struggle to find things to eat for sure. I picked up a book called Healthy Gut, Flat Stomach, really good book, and the complete low FODMAP diet.
Costco has a big loaf of Udi’s bread for $7, the best I have had yet and tastes “normal” toasted. I have to eliminate gluten, dairy & nightshades all together with my gut & stomach issues, so most of what you bought I can’t eat.:-/. How did it go for you?
just wanted to be clear on something you said… it’s not as simple as “amount of sugar” in foods but certain TYPES of sugars that people suffering with these issues can not digest. I have dabbled with eating this way a few times but as you say it’s hard to stick to 100% especially when you go to other people’s houses or restaurants to eat frequently. the other thing is that I find a lot of inconsistencies in various lists of what to avoid and what is ok, so there can be a lot of time consuming experimenting to find out what works best for yourself.
how are you going on the low fodmap diet? I’m thinking of going on it too.
Hi Hannah, how is the FODMAPs diet going? I haven’t started it, but so need to.
Hello I have been really struggling with the low fodmap diet lost over 2 stone since beginning it and I was under weight before I even started it, I started the vegaterian diet but it hasn’t worked out for me personally which I’m very sad about I had to start chicken and pork and fish and Lamb but I feel absolutely guilty about this it’s a very restricted diet as I have noticed sorbitol and mannitol and wheat and other toxic substances in a lot of products it’s little wonder we have a society that is very ill with diabetes and other things not good at all, I would’ve found it better and easier with a booklet saying what we could eat instead of what we couldn’t it’s been really hard going I have tried to return food that I was told to avoid but I became bloated especially with avocado onions and garlic, this has opened my eyes big time to what they put in our food many thanks jacqueline Massie from Scotland
Got the suggested app right away and I’m already 3 days in. Great pointers in this video making a complicated topic much more straight forward!
Thank you for reviewing this! It can be quite confusing for a lot of people!
Such a confusing topic! Thanks for sharing this very helpful video.
Such a great post on what can be a confusing and tricky topic.
What a helpful and informative video. FODMAP diet can be so helpful and this makes it easy to follow. Thanks!
Blueberries? You must be on a different FODMAP diet than me.
This is very informative! The low FODMAP diet can be a tricky one to figure out, and I really like how you laid out the foods to avoid in a simple way. The blog article is also a great resource for people looking for a comprehensive list of what they can and can’t eat when following low FODMAP.
and what about invert sugar? it has been processed to separate the glucose from the sucrose previously so it has loss its granulated shape and its syrupy
This is such a helpful video. I’m honestly so tired of reading “informative blogs” that don’t give good information. This is so much better. I appreciate the information!
I don’t do well with Zucchini, especially if they have skin on.
Idk if they have it outside the US but cabbot cheese is delicious and almost all of them are lactose free
Hey Becky, thanks again for all your great advice! I have very severe IBS. I literally have to take Immodium to be able to leave the house. Do you have any suggestions for me other than Immodium? My IBS has caused so many issues in my life such as job loss, relationship issues, among so many other things. Any suggestions are welcome. Please keep the videos coming. I have become a huge fan. Thanks so much.
This has been SO helpful to me!! Thank you! I LOVE LOVE LOVE mushrooms and was feeling depressed that I should probably no longer have them. I’ve never had oyster mushrooms before but will give them a try. Thanks again.
I’ve been eating lots of zucchini and carrots lately, no troubles. Thanks for the tip.
My GP has just told me go on the FODMAP diet, I’m currently in the middle of quite a long bad flare up of ulcerative colitis. I’m currently only on fluids but I start fodmap diet tomorrow (Wednesday March 28th) I’ve been told no dairy, fried or spicy food, no coffee, no carbonated drinks, no onions or garlic. I’m waiting on an urgent colonoscopy to check how bad colitis actually is. I’m hoping that this FODMAP diet will help my symptoms as I have had this flare up for over a week now.
Becky, have you thought that there might be other foods that you cannot tolerate? I found I can’t eat night shade, which is very sad, but I feel much better not eating them. Just a thought.❤️
I have an autoimmune disease, Hashimoto, and I think I also have issues with my digestion. I get very easily bloated, constipated, gases and other more, my doctor told me to try FODMAP, but I fell a little bit lost:( thanks for you channel! What was the name of the app, please?Monash?
