My wife and I are all registered, can’t wait. 5k Bibs 9031 & 9032!
QD: My wife is a teacher, so her career has directly affected our household, not to mention our beautiful 2 kids. It has also made me so very aware of my surroundings and the way I interact with others. I long for the day when this thing goes away, or at least until there is a vaccine for it.
I just had some luck i scored a pair off sketchers max road 4 for only €46,80… and off course I will give you money per rond on the track and i will join the virtual half marathon! So some great things happening today..
I work in a hospital PLEASE PRAY FOR ALL THE PATIENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is there a way to do the virutal race if you don’t have Strava or the Garmin App? I would really love to do the 5k but I don’t have any of those apps.
Awesome, definitely gonna sign up for a few of these. Thank you for posting all this, one other thing or idea is if you have a foot pod and the Zwift app everyone could run virtually together with their avatars
Just registered for the 5k (Bib no. 9090). Excited to have this be my first official race. Looking forward to contributing to the charity run next week.
A virtual event has the most stacked entrants list I’ve ever seen outside of the world championships. You didn’t even have time to explain who half of those people were there were so many.
That’s crazy.
QOD: This virus is a wake up call. I am going to improve my life. Couple days after the news broke while running local trails actually broke down. Had an epiphany. Yes, I still enjoy running but with the new normal, running for my mental health is no longer enough. Need balance in life. For me to prosper and just to make it day to day I need balance and building the faith I once had needs to be my new goal. Motivation theory is doing a virtual race today and tomorrow. Don’t know if still open. My work is essential so hope keep it good. Everyone stay safe. #Beatthevirus
Just posted virtual run on my strava run club Run with Brad!!
QD: in the hot zone of nyc things are totally different. The office building is closed and soon some will be laid off and people from work have tested positive. It is a ghost town at night and we have to be very careful when grocery shopping. Running my usual routes keeps me grounded!
Signed up to the marathon Bib no.3. I was meant to be running Brighton Marathon, UK on the 19th. Looking forward to the pain!
I registered for the half marathon. I was training for a full, but it’s really hilly where I live.
Love your stuff and updates. But the music you put in there makes it a pain trying to listen to what you are saying. Then again, in these days, these are not really worries:-).
I’m just gonna hold my own races for myself. This has definitely changed my perspective on competition. Every run feels like a victory in itself right now simply because I’m still allowed outside and that could potentially end at any point.
QD: I have a fully stocked gym in my garage plus I am an introvert. So for me the virus has little impact on my day to day activities. Still just work, workout/run, eat, clean, family time then bed. Going to the store is a bit sketchy now but the emptier roads are a plus.
Awesome! Good luck with your Virtual runs! I’ll be seeing you at the Quarantine Ultra, although you will probably still be running long after I have dropped out, ha!
Thanks for what you are doing man. People like you and your family make the world a better place.
I hear that Nike is getting rid of the zoom fly line. Will there be a turbo 3 released or are the turbos also being discontinued
Thanks Seth I just signed up for the 5k I’m in New Zealand in our time zone we are one day ahead of the USA our Sunday will be your Monday, so will the race results match up some how to Sunday the 19th? Thanks Seth what an amazing job you & the Demoor team have done in such a short time, good luck to everybody who has entered
Apparently people are dropping dead everyday here in the states and these are the news… lol?
Signed up for the Marathon, Bib #16. I was continuing my training for my May 3 marathon that was canceled. It’s kind of fun to jump straight into taper mode . Best of luck and healthy to all who are participating at any distance!
QOD: Luckily i still have work in IT, but it changed many private plans from move to family…. Also no idea when i will be able to meet my parents in an other country. Keep safe there Seth!
QOD: I work in corrections and to say it is stressful is an understatement. We have done everything possible to keep it out of the jail but the daily constant threat just wears on us. I am blessed to be working still, and we are helping family and will be donating here as well. I am far enough now in running that I finally feel like I am training not just doing a run. For those that are struggling, this is a journey, keep going, it’s like a race and the you can hear the crowd at the finish line, keep going!! We are going to get through this, keep going keep going keep going!!
I’m a surgical nurse, so I thought my hours would initially be cut when all elective procedures were stopped. I have been helping with Covid preparedness type things the hospital has been doing. Also, my hospital offered RN refresher classes for people like me who haven’t worked the floors for a long time (15 years for me) and also a vent management course to be up to speed on assisting our ICU staff. The storm has not hit yet in our area. We have a few patients so they’re predicting it won’t be long. We are very fortunate in that my husbands job is also essential, so we have not lost income. I pray that the steps we have taken will protect myself and my coworkers. That’s all we can do at this point.
Thanks Seth, but run in local time or US time? I’m in Australia.
QD: I look at this virus as a blessing in disguise for everybody because if you look at it in a different angle. People are now with their families more. If you have a floor which you can do a lot of workouts on then get off your couch. Or if you’re lucky, you can run in your vicinity like Seth even for just a few miles, and do a loop where you can cover a certain distance. You can do that for pretty much everyday or every other day. This removes the excuse of not having time to exercise. So, let’s be positive. We can all be healthier and kick this virus’ butt if we remain consistent! Great job Seth!
Did you consider making virtual race apart of the fundraising or gift to help people? $20 a race isn’t bad would spend more on a “real” race.
In addition to Aravaipa Strong, I’ve been treating every day as an opportunity for a new adventure, whether it’s run, bike, or walk. The other day I walked a half marathon to get some takeout steamed pork buns. Today I’m attempting a vertical mile in my apartment building. The forced creativity has actually made training more enjoyable!
QD: To be honest, the virus has impacted my parents more so than it has affected me. They now have to work from home and are afraid of losing their jobs. Luckily they still do have them but who knows what might happen in the future. As for me, I’m in my last year of middle school and it’s a sad thought that I might not be able to graduate from middle school and just jump straight into high school. However, this won’t last forever and I know we’ll all get through this! Also, super excited to race the virtual 5K!
Is the virtual race 24 hour window based on USA time? ie can I run it 19th my time which will still be only the evening of the 18th USA time?
Guys please subscribe, comment and like my channel, also hit the notification bell: https://youtu.be/7HUR0weuT6Y
Mad Moose (Moose Herd Madness) also supports a small race org. and is held over the week after Aravaipa Strong, so doing both of those. Wasn’t considering the backyard Ultra, but I am chewing on that one.
I’m in for the marathon, great work Seth, looking forward to it. Was supposed to do the Edinburgh marathon in May but it got cancelled, it would have been my first marathon, but now this is!
I am running the Personal Peak Quarantine backyard ultra too. Gokd luck with your race. I am hoping for 12 laps. I am sure you will crush that, but it will be a record for me.
Ran my virtual marathon last week with a couple others. Yes, we practiced social distancing! I was training for Pittsburgh Marathon so the virtual was 5 weeks early. It was a hilly course with almost 2000 feet elevation gain and I almost BQ’d it ( 50 sec off). So we didn’t follow a flatter course. Lol!
My question is, now what do we do with training? Stop until we know what/when our next race is, keep higher mileage training, or something else? Thanks for all of the running advice!
This is awesome. Can’t wait for this just don’t know you what to run. I like distance running but thinking I might do a 5K and attempt a PB
Where’s the link? QD: My husband’s uncle just tested positive for Covid-19, his aunt has it too, just waiting for test results. They live in a rural area, so it just guest show this virus is everywhere. My husband is still working, I was already unemployed, our daughter’s school was closed 3/7 and it’s closed until next year. It’s been nice to have more time with her. Can’t wait to join this run and BEAT THE VIRUS!
Signed up for the half! Bib # 2022. I’ll consider myself lucky that I didn’t get 2020
QD: Virus has made things pretty tough. I’m a senior in college so my last semester and graduation got cancelled. My girlfriend had recently moved to take a new job so I haven’t seen her in about a month and don’t know when I’ll see her again. I work 3 jobs and all have gone remote, so in addition to 6-8 hrs a day of online school work I’m doing 4-6 hours of online work a day. My family is also trapped in NY and I worry about them. But the one thing I have that hasn’t changed is running which is such a blessing.
I’m in on the race, have to figure out which distance I will run. QD: We have to drastically shorten everything at the company. Due to our (still) great social system, I will only loose about 20% to 25% of my income for 3 to 6 months.
I am running the Personal Peak Quarantine Backyard Ultra. I still need to figure out my route(s). Look forward to running with everyone this Saturday.
Is the 19th also the day where the merchandise sales will go to benefit the cause?
I was ill for 11days + 4days fever free rest, and just yesterday morning started to build again, would be nice to pick multi terrain route and do Half as 19th April long run ☺️
hi seth, my freshman year i ran a 25 min 5k, i know it’s not very good, but now i’m taking advantage of the break that we have and i’m starting to train for xc, my goal is sub 20
2180 entered half marathon. I was meant to be doing London and still contemplated the distance on the 26th but there aren’t many good routes close to home and I think I want to savour the fun of doing it until we can rather than just completing the distance for the sake of it. Great effort in doing this and look forward to getting a shirt
I live in Japan, so is the race done at local time/date or your local time/day?
I signed up for the 5K. I’m dealing with PTTD right now but I should be able to muscle through it.
I am just getting ready for my first 100 miler javelina jundred. Yes I know it in October but I have a 50k in July, doing a 96.3 mile run around Mt Rainier in two days, another 50k in August and a 50 miler October 3 Rd and then javelina jundred.
Thanks Jason! I just did my half marathon this past weekend after a 2 week taper. My motivation was putting a fast time on Strava to show to my running friends!
Hey Seth! Great motivation, your passion for the running community is heart-warming. I had to run my Manchester Marathon solo replacement this weekend just gone, gutted I can’t submit my race. Keep up the strong work though!
Hey Seth, any chance others can also run to increase the amount of money we can gather for these people in need?
Signed up for the 10k as a tune up race for my half marathon time trail
Man, I do appreciate how focused and organized you are! the website is quite neat and the process is impressive. I am in for the Marathon, my bib number is 37; I am registered for Boston 2020 which is now pushed to Sep 14th, my target is to go sub 2 hrs 45 mins, not sure I can achieve that running solo, but will dig deep and let´s see how things will turn up, I am Egyptian, I live in Mexico City and I train on 7500 ft altitude. Excited to donate as well for the great cause you are leading, hope that would help our fellow runners and community members in need. Cheers!
Signed up for 10K since I was supposed to run a 100K ultra on April 18th. I guess this will do 😉
It better not rain LOL!
AGAIN SETH…THANK YOU!
for the opportunity to help us GET threw this!!
For putting a human touch to this in a WAY our particular community can!!
Living in NY working at LaGuardia airport. Just decided I ain’t going to work anymore until this passes.. signed up for the 10k looking g forward to April 18th
Have a blast at the backyard, looking forward to running some loops myself.
QD: everyone in our family are working from home, which is really testing our tech, and toilet paper. We, in Australia are experiencing less of an impact, at this point any, but also our social welfare system is more robust and our government has placed a 3 month moratorium on evictions. That helps a lot, but there is still a lot of suffering. I work at a university and the heavy reliance on International Students could result in multiple institutions failing in the next 4-6 months.
QD: it has affected us a lot. I’m considered an essential worker. I’m rotating every other day with my wife home schooling, and working. There is a lot of stress and pressure in our lives due to this illness even for our kids.
Question of the day: I’m a first year medical student in London, but I have moved back to the family home in Middlesbrough. My parents have both been laid off temporarily, so we are spending a lot of time together as a family which is a positive. Hopefully volunteering as a healthcare volunteer in a few weeks! Me and my dad are also running the virtual marathon! My dad the half marathon (in place of Brighton Marathon UK) and me the 5k
We are a running store, Georgia Front Runners, and we are in! keep up the great work Seth.
If you are over seas do you have to run on the 19th local time or 19th us mountain time?
I signed for DeMoor Global Running Virtual Race Half Marathon. Looking forward to that event!!! Bib no.2012.
Honestly, what you are doing is dope. Not a ton of folks have even thought of this. Your perspective is EVERYTHING.
thanks for the “positive vibrations” (in a dj voice as your music was on point) 😉
Seth, no disrespect, but to me it looks weird seeing you with the “Beat the virus” card while you are talking about chicken sandwiches. You do know that the virus came from eating/exploiting animals in the first place? The Corona virus jumped from animals to humans only because we humans ate them or held them in horrible conditions on a market. HIV, the spanish flue and SARS 1 virus from 2002 all had similar backgrounds.
Signed up for the Half Marathon. I’m still on (hip flexor) injury recovery, so the race that I had been signed up for that was cancelled would not have been a PR race, and so this won’t be, either, not by a long shot. But I’m thrilled to be a part of this terrific group and to put in a 13.1 for the joy of it!
Signing up for the Marathon! I usually do my marathons in the fall and triathlons in the spring but since all four of my races are cancelled I’ve changed my training. Won’t be a PR but I look forward to it. I also look forward to adding a new t shirt to my collection when they come out next week!
It is so hard to continue training when there’s so much uncertainty on whether or not a race is on or off:(
Nice one Jamil. Looking forward to hearing more on the Limitless Vert challenge #stayhome #staysafe
28.17 loops! I set a goal to run at least an hour every day this winter. Started the first of November. That has kept me motivated to get in the mileage.
Fingers crossed to see you and your team here in Ouray and Silverton and the Hardrock 100!!
Question about the Virtual race, not sure if it was answered somewhere. What if we did our race on saturday, instead of sunday? Would we still be able to upload the saturday results on sunday?
Glad all this accounting stuff is worked out! Still a great thing!
QD: I work in the medical field. Our caseload has dropped so hours have thinned out. Fortunately, I found out about Dave Ramsey a couple of years ago and I’m in a much more stable position than I would’ve been. Praying that everyone stays Corona free and this ends sooner rather than later.
About to sign up for the 10k!
good day mr.demoor, i tried to go to your gmail but it never open and it’s said no result, i would like to ask some help from you because until now our mayor here has no plan or no contingecy plan to our province, and still we have no money to buy food for my family, i hope you can help us here in the philippines…God bless you and your family, stay healthy and keep on runninh…
Hey Jamil, thanks for the update since pretty much all my races (till June so far) have been cancelled (I live in Switzerland), virtual races are a great idea! I have registered so far for the Aravaipa Strong (half marathon) and the 14.1km UltraX Co, on the 11th of April.
Definitely would like to see more virtual races coming up. It is also a great opportunity to motivate myself (ourselves) through this tough period. Looking forward for more races from you guys at Aravaipa and more info on your training! Keep it up!
QD: My partner and I are both still working so we have a certain degree of normality. I work in manufacturing where we have switched our production to making ventilators for the NHS in the UK. My partner is a healthcare assistant in a local hospital, she started her apprenticeship in January totally unaware that she would be thrust to the frontline of this pandemic. I’m so proud of her and we’re both working very hard to try and make even a small difference to this terrible situation. Stay safe guys x
I just registered it will be my first marathon . Can’t wait.
Your shirt said “Limitless Vertical Challege”… Is that supposed to be “Challenge” and not “Challege”?:P
I would have loved to run the semi but it looks like I’ll still be confined on april 19th:(
Just signed up for the marathon Bib number 12. Lets go “see” you on the 19th
Hey, quick question! I’ve watched many of your videos, and can’t quite find an answer, so I just decided to comment. I’m a 17 year old high school runner. I’ve been truly running since 7th grade cross country, and I just crossed over the 60 miles per week barrier. My question is #1 is this too many miles for me? #2 will these extra miles help improve speed and endurance? For reference my pr’s are 16:19 5k and 1:57 800m
I’ve signed up for your Aravaipa Strong https://www.aravaiparunning.com/product/aravaipa-strong-virtual-race and the Moose Herd Madness Virtual Race put on by Madmoose Events https://www.madmooseevents.com/moose-herd-madness-virtual-race
I will probably throw in the Operation Inspiration Virtual Run https://www.irunfar.com/store/product/operation-inspiration-virtual-race-entry as well and then I will see what other Race Directors do anything similar so that I can help give them a little support as well.
QD: So far not personally affected too much (knock on wood)… however my company just asked us to start taking PTO if possible, which means the funding for paying their indirect employees is running out, due to stop work govt contracts.. so as weird as it sounds I’m going to be taking alot of my saved up PTO so that others dont have to, in the hopes that they dont start laying people off
QD: First of all, my job got suspendent. I work in a Saucony store in Greece and the Gov said that due to Covid-19, we have to stay closed utnill atleast mid april as of now. So i have 21 days that i spend 22 to 23 houres/day in house. For now, i can go solo or by couplesfor a run with no time limitations but i have a feeling that this is going to change tomorow. They are going to limit that to one houre outside exersise a day and control on how many times we go outside, no matter the reason, to two times/day. Lets hope that it wont get any worst than that…
I also ran the Rambling Runner 5k. Did it on a track. New PB. 17:34. Happy with that!
as your vitual race start April 17thfor our distance tracking it starts at any time we start our distance during that wk? if we cant run the 17th?
I just signed up! I’m running the 5K! I’m traditionally a 400m runner, but I have a little experience in cross country. I also asked my friend to do it as well! Can’t wait till race day!
Shane Barkley got cancelled. It was 80 degrees, and sunny here in Tennessee this past Saturday. Idea weather with good chance finish it.
Signed up for the half marathon 2163, thank you for putting this together. Wishing everyone the very best
a few of the events I had registered for converted to virtual, signed up for Aravaipa Strong, Dave Dillon w/ChasetheSummit has $5 virtual events and donates 100%
Fun Stuff going to check out the Aravaipa Strong race for sure great 4/1 film yesterday but I have to say a Ridgeline/Outhouse (Aravaipa) Collab would be pretty damn cool for real even if its virtual!
