I live in a reasonably comfortable country with a good (if imperfect) healthcare system and training. Salary is not great but not bad. Hours aren’t good but could be worse.
I’ve had some thoughts about what it would be like to live and work in another country. But getting a job and migrating overseas is a bit more complex as doctors because we can’t simply email in for a job. There are big issues especially surrounding licensing.
There are probably three stages that one can decide to move over in increasing order of difficulty: before Med school, before residency and after residency training itself.
To be honest I’d like to complete my training where I am if possible but I do fantasise about living overseas after that.
Has anyone got any recommendations or resources or just anecdotes of how to even start figuring out which countries I might be eligible to work in and what the barriers to entry are in terms of licensing, having to repeat training etc?
Thank you!
