#1 Thinking all gluten free foods are low FODMAP Many gluten free products include FODMAP containing ingredients such as: agave syrup, honey, apple and/or pear concentrate, chicory root extract (inulin), fructans, whole soybeans (edamame, crushed soybeans or soybean flour) or other bean flours making them likely HIGH FODMAP diet choices.Low FODMAP Maple-Soy Glazed Tempeh. To be honest, I was going for a low FODMAP “teriyaki-flavored” tempeh when I first tested this recipe.
It doesn’t quite have the teriyaki flavor I was going for, but it’s too good not to share. The glaze is sweet and savory and a little bit spicy (if you choose to use the red pepper flakes).Cook the edamame according to package directions. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, water, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes.
Heat canola oil in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. The most common foods made from fermented soybeans are tempeh, miso paste and soy sauce. All three are low in FODMAPs, as long as they’re not seasoned with high-FODMAP ingredients, like garlic or onions..
Tempeh is an excellent meat alternative.Plus unlike edamame, you can eat the pod. Snow peas: Snow peas are a less sweet option and you can also eat the pods. Other veggies: I use this base recipe for broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, and bok choy all the time. What is edamame anyway?
Edamame.

All the probiotics that you use and recommend, do your kids take all of those each day? Or do they just take Klaire Labs probiotics for example? Thank you so much for all this helpful information!!!!
Which stir-fry veggies will you be throwing together tonight?
An incredibly delicious recipe. It is always good to discover new recipes. This falls for sure. Thanks guys
I’m Asian and I approve this recipe. Tastes really good, another great way to cook my favorite edamame. Thanks man.
Fantastic easy recipe thank you very very much for sharing!!
Hi, were the beans thawed before you cooked them? Or were they still frozen when you put them in the wok? Thanks!
I’d like to cook them and carry them to a party can: they be eaten cold?
I’m going to make these for my husband. After 3 major intestinal surgeries, he has trouble with some foods. Thanks a bunch for the recipe and raising awareness on digestive issues.
This looks AMAZING
I thought you couldn’t have seeds like fennel with certain digestive issues like diverticulitis. A friend of mine has that and gave this video and said no seeds. She will use powder form though so she can enjoy as well.
Thank you so much for this
That really does include a good lot of veg and looks yum Thanks for the inspiration once again I do love a good stir fry esp beansprouts!
This is amazing information!! My 1 1/2 year old has had, what I’ve assumed is, gut issues for awhile now. But I haven’t found much info about what I can do for her. Thank you for such helpful, practical tips! I’ll need to come back and watch this multiple times because there’s so much good stuff!
Hell ya! More goodness from the original Italian cookery and gahden channel. Love, love the Asian cuisine. Got the same brand of oyster sauce in the fridge but now it will get used.
You’re breathing new life back into the channel, Bow and that’s a good thing because I’m almost done with the copied versions of Italian food. Too much cheese for the diet. haha
Have a good weekend, all of you!
It is a pity we can’t smell them. That’s probably a good thing because we would want to eat them! They look great !
I love the recipe! However, I am a bit reluctant to try it out, since I have always thought that gram flour is high on the fodmap list..?
Another excellent recipe. Thanks for all that you do and keep up the good work.
Love the message of low fodmap! Currently a student for a holistic nutrition and this is a message that needs to get out there! Great video guys, can’t wait to try making these
Unfortunately reducing the amount of fermentable carbohydrates may have a negative impact on the gut microbiome rather than build it up. The commensal bacteria in the colon require these type of FODMAP carbohydrates also known as “prebiotics” in order to function properly and produce short chain fatty acids in the gut. The low FODMAP diet is a highly restrictive diet which is used for the IBS that doesn’t respond to first line treatments and should be undertaken under strict clinical supervision by a specially trained Dietitian. As a student Dietitian, I appreciate that this is a resource I could potentially signpost IBS patients to for meal ideas but promoting the diet for people who don’t have IBS and saying that it will build up there microbiome is unfortunately very misleading and potentially dangerous as the diet restricts prebiotics which are needed for a healthy gut. The long term health effects of the diet are unknown and as you have a huge audience which look to you for healthy eating tips I would be worried they would see this and think it’s healthy for a normal person. I don’t mean to be critical as I’m a fan of your content but I would encourage you to do more research before you promote the diet for people who don’t have GI disorders. Low FODMAP diet has potential adverse affects, is highly restrictive, is carried out in phases and should only be taken for a short amount of time, which is why clinical supervision is needed.
“Strict FODMAP restriction induces a potentially unfavorable gut microbiota, although the impact of this consequence upon health is unknown.” https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5390324/
Hello Dr! I wanted to ask on your opinion about whole milk for my 13th month old. He is underweight and his pediatrician wanted me to do pediasure but my baby didn’t want it. What other milk can I use?
Stop conflating IBS with Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (e.g. Crohn’s); two completely different pathologies.
Hey I’m back for a follow up. I believe the new saying should be, “I can do all things through YouTube which strengthens me!” Man those edamame I made were INSANE!!!! Thank you for sharing your recipe with us
Great to see you back Bow:-) Looks really delicious:-) A “BIG” thumbs up:-) ROCK ON!!!!!!!
Are the edamame’s the fresh or frozen variety? Perhaps it doesn’t matter huh? Thanks Maile.
Great video, I’m a big fan of edamame, very useful in my culinary arsenal! Also do me a solid and tell tommy boy he’s a chicken mcnobody.
Made these the other night and they were amazing. Kids loved them also. Served on a bed of butter lettuce with some of the left over tahini sauce. Also the first few I put in the frypan with a little oil and they kept falling apart. So the next set I formed the patties then put in the fridge for 30 mins (while I ate the others:)) Then dipped them in the batter and air fried them and they came out perfect, so much better than the fried ones. I have posted a pic on my instagram #thehappypear
with the higher fodmap foods, are you only allowed a certain amount for the whole day or per meal?
Can I use other kinds of beans? I dont eat soy products. Thank you
Thanks you guys! I’ve been told I need to stay away from beans and lentils because of my IBS so this is definitely welcome:-)

OMG this looks amazing! Spicy and sweet! The veggie version of wings!
Learned something newhad not heard of fodmap before. Cheers, Gents.
3 days ago I was diagnosed with IBS. This recipe is so on time, Thanks:X
You really need to take a spore based probiotic like Thrive or megasporebiotic if you have gut problems that respond to a low fodmap diet. Once you get your gut rebalanced you shouldn’t need to stick to low fodmap foods.
These look great but chickpea flour is high FODMAP isn’t it?
What qualifies you to offer 6 week courses on microbiome? Are you doctors? Or at least qualified in any way?
I love hummus but my tummy just doesn’t agree with chickpeas or beans

Ladsies may I say, I had bed ridden IBS for three years, and I did the whole low fodmap thing, fermented food, tried a million diets, and the number one thing that healed my digestion was fruit and green juices and herbs. Easiest thing to digest for humans!!
Sweet baby Jesus!!! Now I can stop spending all my money at Hawkers Asian Grille
