I have been to London Marathon in 1990 & 1991….Great Race….superb festive atmosphere….all running 42km….chilled weather….
We respect you but why are you putting on National jerseys yet you are in private competition? The money you earn will be private but for taxes so please consider wearing private attire. Thank you!
…you also forgot it burns muscle away….but its okay…i got you covered
Nice breakdown! One thing I struggle with is maintaining power when running down a hill that’s 3% or steeper. Is that common? I’d love to hear more on this issue.
I haven’t done a long run in a while but after watching this I’m going to do one right now!
Im a sophomore in highschool and my long is 7-8 miles at 7:10– 7:30 pace, i run 25 miles a week and my pr is 17:00. I’m going to increase my mileage in the coming weeks and hopefully i see some major improvements
My long run is 7 miles but I’m going to try to get to 8.5 this weekend
Dang I used to like this channel so much. Trahan really lost his beginning audience of >10000 subs. Ive moved on from him to the AthleteSpecial that channel is great if your a fan of the old Trahan channel.
Can someone tell me the best way to train for 1.5 mile.. need to run under 9.40 seconds currently running at a really bad 13 minutes

I am a sophmore in high school I run about 50-60 miles a week long runs are about 10-13 rn and I have my first varisty race next week anyone got some advice?
Hey I’m a beginner and I’m running to loose weight so could u plz tell me what should be the best way to run and what should be the speed
5:23 when they think you are fine but youre not really fine
The elite runners bore you shitless! Show the Giraffes, Gorillas, Elvis’s and Rhinos
My long run is usually 14-17 but I go around 2 hours for 16-17 ones
5-7 miles. I’m a freshmen in high school. My coach keeps me and the other freshmen under 7 miles so we don’t hurt ourselves since we are growing.
Mo Farah: *breaths
Caster: You can tell by the way his mouth moves when he breaths he is so comfortable he’s got it in the bag he’s just letting everybody else lead because he’s super fucking smart
That’s what the Ugandans get tryna pace each other together. Thinking they have the win
Great video, thank you. Mo will is a wonderful person and great runner!
@ 1:02:54 Kosgei lost a few tenths because the motorcycle confused her. But STILL broke the record!!!!!
GO GEBRESELASSIE! He won even though his country dont love him!
The Ugandans had got a bit over confident they didn’t expect that. over all great work
Mo Farah always looking on the back or to the side. It’s not a good habit for a distance runner, esp. to an elite. It wastes energy. No wonder why he cannot beat Eliud Kipchoge.
Wtf is that celebration? Makes me want to cringe myself to sleep?
I’m currently doing 45 miles per week with an 11 mile long run.
The only tip I would give is to experiment with different types of long run workouts to see what makes you feel good and what you get the most benefit from. For example you said in this video that you do progression long runs. However, others enjoy doing a long run with the first part easy, second part moderate (for example 4 miles easy + 6 miles moderate) or something like 2 easy + 6 moderate + 2 easy. Some people also like incorporating a fartlek into their long runs, for example: (2 miles easy + 6 miles 1 min hard/30s easy + 2 miles easy). Personally I am currently trying out a long run tomorrow of 10 miles with the first 5 miles easy and the next 5 miles moderate (btw moderate pace is basically marathon pace, but if you dont know what that is it is about 20-30 seconds slower than lactate threshold pace). In the past I have done only progression runs so we will see how this turns out!
Congratulations Mo Farah… missed 2 dope tests before the London Olympics and went on to win gold. Fantastic.
Goog intelligent race for the australian.
He wait until the right distance to.finish and left ugandans with no possibility.
No fear.
Does the announcer understand that Abbe Bikila won the Olympic marathon -barefoot? So…….why does he waste commentary on whether this guy or that guy did or didn’t wear socks?????????( I won ALL my races -no socks…….get over it!
A friend and I walked the Princess half a few years ago due to an injury and I could so feel you on the “I just want to run!” part but yes, still a super fun experience and I would do it again! Great vlog, Girl!!
Purdue need to clean up her form and technique she’s wasting a lot of energy. She needs to be smoother and develop a better rhythm.
I do 17:30 5k without doing a long run and only training a few days a week. Do you think I’d be able to break 16 minutes after a few months doing 1 long run (10-15 miles) per week, along with plenty of core and conditioning with Doing speed 2 times a week also
Purdue is a great role-model.
She’s short yet (a little bit) efficient. Who cares what she looks like?
Yah, Ryan can you make running schedules to reach a goal of a sub 17,16, and 15 PR? Mainly because there is no way I can do what you do right now, but i gotta work my way up. Right now my PR is 17:04 and my long run is usually 4.5-5 miles but my goal by the end of this season is a 7-8. Thank you
Hi, what would you
recommend the Running Score Balance to be at before running a race?
Kipchoge would have run 58 flat, these athletes are absolute word class and the british runners are looking good just like hugh Jones, steve jones and Geoff smith did in the 80s
The racists hate him because of his color n religion the Kenyans n the Ethiopians hate him because he took over their business lmao.. Mo keep doing ur thang, bruh keep on winning king
Shalane Flanagan has done FUCK NOTHING since her “FUCK YEAH” NYC marathon victory.
My average long run was 6-8♂️ I hope to increase that because I want to break that sub 17 barrier. My PB is only 17:48 so I have a long way to go.
Hey thanks for the tips I just rn my first xc meet of the season and ended up at 27th place, I gotta work on my sprint finishes can’t wait for the next meet!
All those Ugandans are Kenyans the names says it all all their names are names from kenya community where all the people there run even the old
Kinda late but o well, I am a sophomore and my longest run is 13.2 miles. Plan to increase one day when my body tells me it’s good.
Hi i just want to know how I was my 5 k time was get under 20. Min what should I do for that
i take that you’re pretty much at CP Zone 3 the entire race? would you do something different in a more “flat” and “normal” (not crushed gravel/stone) road half-marathon?
Could you make a full week/month running plan for a high school student?
They starting off with wheelchair racer and named the race the big half..oof
I run 40 miles a week not including warm ups and cool downs. My long run is 10-11 Miles. I want to build to 60 Miles a week
Mo’s cadence seems pretty low, if you look at the other guys next to him.
Me canse viendo el recorrido de manera digital hecho al principio/I got tired of watching the tour digitally at first.
I run 4 times a week, a total of 10 miles a week, and my long run is about 35 percent
My longest long run so far is 10.8 miles. I’m a Freshman in high school.
Planning to do a long run today. Around 9 miles at around 8:50 pace (increasing progressively). Going into junior year (am a half/quarter miler training for cross country season). “I’m bald and congested” lolol.
Thank you for the percent of weekly mileage recommendations, as well as validating that it’s beneficial for the 5k distance.
Why is Mo Farah wearing arm warmers at the start? It looks pretty hot already by the time the elite men start.
Hello! I’m Courtney.I did -45 lbs past 2 month.Open instd.so\#6O6uw
Hi @RyanTrahan, I’m from Mallorca (Baelaric Island). How’s your VO2Max? I got 78 on preseason, is it good? Keep de good work!
Mo is the dude can just pull out off the run for couples interviews and win the race.
Great job!!! I did the 5k, my first ever race, and i was tinkerbell:)
I started cc because of you and now I did my first 10k my time was 53:20 and I’m 12 keep it up with the vids
My long run is 6 miles and my device is to let ur first mile be ur slowest and the ur last mile ur fastest
Question:
I’m a sophomore, PR at an 18:40 and I’ve been running (competitively) for 2 years
During the summer I didn’t actually realize the mileage I was doing or how important it was. I averaged 25 miles a week and I’m running about 30-35 now (during the season).
If I amp it up more even during the season will I still get stronger? I’m just worried about getting injured rn since I’m already half way through the season, so I need to be ready for district.
Will taking my runs up to 40 or so be bad?
My end goal for the season is trying to break 18 minutes in the 5k so any tips would be nice.
This will sound crazy. But I have a 10 mile long run on 25-30 a week
Im a freshman and i run 40 miles per week,,well my last league race it on thursday hopefully i could make it to top 10 this time for bassett ♂️♂️
I’m in 7th grade> I do like 30-40 miles a week and my long run is like 7-8 miles so around an hour. I enjoy watching your videos and hope you can give me feedback
My running is usually two 5 mile runs an 8 mile run and a speed session each week. Also I do a long cycle and swimming. Some times I’ll run 10 miles instead of 8 and sometimes I’ll do two 8 miles runs and two 5 mile runs in a week. The furthest I’ve run is 15 miles so I’m decent at long runs. I usually go fairly steady but over the last mile I kick pretty fast which is great for improving my 1600m time. I only run about 20 to 25 miles a week but they are good quality, fun miles and I have arthritis in my hips so running too far is bad for me but I’m happy with my 5 to 8 miles most days a week. I find my training is good for 5k races I can do it in 18:20 which is decent. When I’m an adult I WILL be better
I get in like 45 miles a week in training for 5K, is that enough?
Love the picture on the grass at 1:20:43. This is true art.
Farah will be smashed by the Kenyan and Ethiopians, He never really was a marathoner. Amazing on the track over 5 and 10k no one will argue with his resume but over 26 miles and now in his thirties a big ask.
Who cares about the runners. Did you see the ones using their arms? Now that is bad ass. Htf can you do that for a half marathon. My God your arms would be on fire. Tiny ass muscles….my buddy just ran an ultra and the guy that won it ran it in 20 hrs. It is amazing what these athletes can do.
Great video! What was the datafield setup that you had in your watch for the race? Average power (3s, 10s, 30s, lap), split time?
Best sprinters, west n central africans, best mid distance runners north africans, best long distance runners east africans, best overall runners kenyans, imagine your mothers mothers was kenyan her dad was east african your fathers father was west african his mother north african, OMG that man would be overpowered as hell.
My long run is 8 right now at the beginning of the season and only about 40 miles a week. We max up to 50 miles a week as the season goes on. Im not sure if i should be running more mileage or not.
For me it’s just a run. Because I started running at the beginning of July and I just try to run some route that I prepare in my head:) Thanks for a video, really appreciate it
I make roughly 70/75 miles per week with only 12/13 mile long run. Should I prolong it?
Woke up this morning and didn’t want to my long run. But after I got it done, felt satisfied. Then, I stumbled upon this vlog.
To be honest I agree on what you’re saying here.. Since I subs to your channel (the day I watched your video taking on long run and how you benefited from it “not this video”) I started to include a day dedicated only for a 16km easy pace run. Since then I feel good. 2 months effort from 45min 10km runner now I hit 42.55min for a 10km run with reserved energy. Along side I also do repeats mostly 400m and 800m. I managed to do this even I have a day job.
Nice work. I did MDI half marathon last weekend on hilly course and STRYD really helped me get a minute masters PR. Good luck in your trials training. Thanks for the interesting data.
I’m currently training for a half marathon my long run is around 9 miles and medium run around 5-7 miles
Realy आ girl। of guts। to do। Heartiest। appreciations❤️❤️
cassé vous ya aucune dopage le travaille paye bonne des jaloux
mo farah ahi luce ya que con los moustros del maraton ni figura…
Never ran cross country in high school till my junior year! Didnt go to summer practices at all. And ran that season and my best 5k time was 16:32 with not even 35 miles a week! Didnt run track that year. Then my senior year i took it more seriously went to summer practices lol but still didnt run over 35 miles per week and my best was 16:02 then ran track that year and my mile pr was 4:35! After that i fell in love with the sport that i still run just for fun! Great sport! I wish i would’ve started my freshman year!
I I despise the racist haters, and I am not bothered by their stupid comments, however I rejoice the fact that Mo Farah succeeds all the time to silence the arrogant Ethiopians and Kenyans who take winning for granted.
Kinda disapointed, we run about 25 miles a week but our long run is onoy 5-7 miles
Mo farah is asuch famous runner.Iam aMorocan:Marathonien iwish to be a champion in future.imust work hard.
So I’m completely new to running and I just came across your channel you seem really helpful THANKYOU
What sort of distance long run did you do freshman year high school?
My long run is 11-13 miles I’m a sophomore but I only run 19:46 tear tear
where do you put your phone when you listen to music my phone always gets in the way
When will more Neptune bottles be available? Will they be in the new colors?
My last run I ran a 20 min 5k ik it’s not very fast but could someone give me some tips on how I could break 20 or even 19 and how many miles I should be running a week. Thx
Aussie Aussie Aussie Jack Rayner might just be my favourite runner atm. Chillest guy ever.
I’m rooting for you at the trials! I’ll be there to watch, but I’m enjoying you channel. I have just order a Stryd foot pod and I have been wondering how to use all the data it collects. Your channel has made it relatively easy to understand and has me excited to train with it going into Chicago where I hope to run 2:37.
I’ve been running leisurely for around a year and a half now and my best mileage is six and a half miles. Increasing my mileage is hard. Seven miles seem scary impossible. I hope to get better and better. Thank u for being inspiring Ryan forehead kiss sweet boy
my longest long run on my half marathon training is 12.5 miles
Question. Who knows what the picture Mo having hes hands over hid head on thumbnail?
Hi, how often does the CP update? Or it will only update when there is an improvement/regression? TIA.
I’m curious about the Garmin 645 vs Apple Watch. All the stryd runners seem to use Garmin watches, but Apple Watch has the stryd app. Is the app overkill? Stryd saying AW app will only upload 5hour activities to the power center and the one day battery life of AW are annoying, but I’m not sure if the app makes it better? I’m guessing no?
The kenya girls were just thinking abt the exchange rate $ to ksh
What’s a good tip to avoid injury when doing long runs for someone who hasn’t done many long runs?
This was really helpful for me to watch as I was getting ready to do my first real race with the Stryd and the Stryd PowerRace mode on my 645!
thats literally cheat code… if he shows up.. who is gonna beat him lmao
Only 22 years old! The mustache makes him look a lot older than his age!
Didn’t expect to see a knob come into view at 1.20.42 when I watched it on telly!! From the way Paula Radcliffe’s voice changes when she says the word ‘ focus ‘ I’m sure she had spotted it too!!
Miles a week 15 miles a week long run 6 miles I’m a sophomore
30:38 quando estiver mal pense nesse cara cego que é fã do mo farah mas não pode vê-lo.
he is naming Mohamed not “Mo” i know shorting names etc. BUT WHEN IAAF CALLING HIM “MO”?
My idea of a long run is a 5k but I just started. I’m trying to do like a mile and half every day then sometimes two miles and a half.
One of my favorite runners last time I was tracking his fastest as a 59:32 and he dropped time from that record to a final 59:07 that’s a good improvement. Great work.
Hey man you’re a big inspiration watching these videos and hearing your story made me feel like I wasn’t doing enough for this sport and so I emailed some college coaches (and got some responses lol) worked harder in practice and I’m excited for meets more than I am nervous for them. Thanks for all you do and good luck in the future! Btw you have earned a sub
estas acabado Sir Mo Farah, kipchoge te destrozo en el maratón de Londres
The heavy rock and roll was unnecessary at the beginning of the men’s race, scared the shit out of me
He didn’t win he was third he got beat quite a bit by Kipchoge and that other guy… He’s still hella good though.
You’re right man, the words give and up never go together in my dictionary too.
Coming back after 3 years on and off. 27 miles a week now. 8 mile “long” runs. I was at about 60-100 mpw. 18-23 mile long runs. I used Hanson’s
I ran a 10 mile long run this past summer and normally my long run was 8-10 miles every Monday and I’m gonna be a sophomore. I wanna run 13.1 miles for a long run next summer
Keep in mind also, just because he ran 16 miles doesn’t mean you have too, he ran it in 1:45, most people run between 10-14 miles in that time. So run for 1:45 and you’ll be doing the same amount of relative work
New world Half marathon record today in Valencia 58min. 18sec.
That moment their 1/2 marathon pace is faster than my 5k race pace
Mo looks stupid with those yellow arm things. Good win but lucky Bekele is not there. We all know he will kick his yellow arm!!
Torotich instead of running your race you were fighting for no reason.
Starting off slow…. N controlling the adrenaline rush is really important…..
i am 4 months in since i started running.. my long runs are 8-10k(5-6miles) and i do 30-32k(20miles) weekly.. should i increase my mileage???.
If I’m running about a 5:50 mile race pace for a 3 mile/5k what should my pace be on my long runs?
JR turns the tables and says SEEEEEEEEEE YAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! Great race, Jack!
Thats just 1/2 a race for kipchoge who then turns around and does the same on the way back
Very-very good Video…
Thanks….
Forever Great North Run…
