I might draw some flak due to these thoughts but hear me out. The families of soldiers killed in action get ‘death benefits’. Let’s say residents/fellows/attendings/NP/PAs/nurses or even the techs contract covid on job and die.. Why can’t their families be entitled for similar benefits? I won’t be surprised if some Italian hospital staff even ended up with PTSD after the crap they are seeing everyday. Are they going to get the mental health resources which Veterans get? Anybody agree with me? Also, if there are any veterans here and feel offended, please accept my apologies in advance.
EDIT: I have another suggestion- If you know about any hospital personnel’s family is struggling since they contracted covid, I think a gofundme page can be posted here. I pledge to donate whatever I can. Hopefully others will too. And people who don’t have live insurance policies, please get one ASAP. Don’t procrastinate. Especially if you have kids.
