Anyone ever notice this Nick guy never interacts with his Youtube subscribers/fans/followers. Like WTF why even watch and comment!!!
200 meters in 34 seconds= 100 meters in 17 seconds.
The fastest sprint, usain bolt ran 100 meters in 9.70 seconds, or 44 kilometers an hour.
This man ran an entire marathon at half Usain’s speed! That’s crazy.
So basically if you run 2hours straight on this treadmill you’re on wr level? Damn. That must be hard.
I feel like most of these people never ran in their lives before attempting this.
They look like they are auditioning for a low budget horror movie! How to look dumb before you die…
My question is, out of all those people who lasted the longest? Was anybody there even able to go for 10 minutes?
I thought my running form is bad but when I saw these 2 women I realized I am not 0:50
1:12
Runners? I must be a pro then lol, I have better form and I just run for fun, this people have terrible running form.
This seems like an excellent thing to try out at the expo the day before your marathon…
…ummm are they really runners or just regular people trying to run his pace, because their form is atrocious. I want to reach through my phone and help them…
come on.. running on jeans… it is the 21st,… not the 18st century..
Get there real runners not fake ones and you will realize that spped is not a problem. A problem is maintainig it for 2h… Dont like this vid
Somebody goes up there and does it for 3 hours straight and realizes they should have been a runner.
All very bad at running form, so no surprise here they fail.

Wouldnt it be easier if the treadmill wasnt soft as a marshmallow?
Running on a treadmill is really weird if you’ve never done it before.
I never do it myself, so I’d look just as stupid.
Bea: come over.
Kipchoge: Girl my car is in the shop and you live 26 miles away.
Bea: My parents wont be home for three hours.
Kipchoge:
Is this 13 mph the same speed as a 13 on a treadmill if there is a speed 13?
I would LOVE to do this and see how long I last!!! Looks fun!!! But proper running form is crucial. Glider or gazelle form! Were these people trying to get injured?! Hahaha.
But to be fairwhen I ran my first 2 half marathons; I didn’t know what proper running form was either. Running became a hobby after giving birth. I’ve learned and adapted proper running form within this last year.
Imagine a guy went up there and just started running for a solid 2hrs.
In all honesty keeping that pace for even 800 is tough for people who are not actively into sports. Also, treadmill is easier than actually running. Also also these people have very poor running form, the fact that they can keep it for even 30 seconds is actually not bad, all things considered.
incredible how everyone in the comments are all professional runners.
Keep in mind running on a treadmill is easier than on ground
You just imagine all the changes your body go through to be able to uphold this pace for a half marathon, let alone marathon.
Of course it’s almost impossible to keep up this speed. On top of being on performance enhancing drugs, Kipchoge is a world class Kenyan Marathon runner.
Have these people never run before in their lives or what??? I’ve never seen such a bad form!
Currently I am out with shin splints and after watching this, im like “f*k shin shit… I wanna run!!!”
From the comments I have learned that all of these professional and Olympic runners have horrible teqnique according to suburban middle/high-school cross-country coaches.
Yes, all elite long distance runners are Super-human! And their speed is insane…but not even they could run on a treadmill for too long at that speed. A treadmill is not a good simulation of track/road…by its nature, it is designed to keep you in one position, by eliminating traction and dragging your legs backwards. For that reason, you need quick strides on a treadmill, whereas on a normal running surface you don’t need quick strides. You can measure your strides decently, even though running at a fast pace…so these simulators are very inaccurate
I have been running in tournaments or just simply on tracks for about 8 to 9 years now and seeing these people run killed me from the inside, although id love to try this
I went to see the New York marathon this year and it was something different the people that you met I was standing at mile 16 and I met a pros mom and we just talked about how that pro became so good and why he started to run
i plan to join NYC Marathon this year, 2020, wish me luck, my first Marathon, greeting from Indonesia
I just came here for the comments who knew running could be comical
Dude like your videos but i have a questions for you, like ive been trying to use proteins or that stuff but i dont care but it really makes me shit a lot and also stomach problems what will you recommend as a protein that will help you gain weight and not to hard for the stomach.
His sub-2 hour marathon is probably the great single athletic achievement of all time
I run because I have to, it’s what I do, it makes me feel alive, because I’m addicted to it and the feeling it gives me, the challenge, the energy of all the runners around me, that we have all come together with the same goal and for the process one goes through to train and ultimately run a marathon. 18 marathons so far and now 10 months post brain surgery and am training and hoping to do more.
Hi my name is subham and I’m from India.
I’m running half marathon (21k)♂️
I think people run marathons because their lives are empty and they feel useless so they need to prove themselves
“I do it to inspire the next generation,” what a self-important load of trash. You do it to brag, apparently.
I started racing a year ago. They’re small races that are 5k’s or 5 Miles. For the last couple of years I was out of shape and I would get stressed out at work a lot. So I asked myself what happened to the Athletic person I use to be. So I decided to try racing! Preparing for it, I lost weight and since I’ve raced a couple of times it’s mentally and physically made me a better person. Racing has also affected me big time at work, my coworkers have noticed a change in attitude too! Racing has helped me mentally to stay calm under pressure!
Chariots of fire that movie inspired me to do one Toronto Miller Life Marathon 1984 ya a beer co LOL
He mentions raising money for ‘Cancer Research’. Allowing Big Pharma to develop.10 cent pills & charge the patients 5000 dollars. Be careful of the word ‘Charity’.
I’ve never ran a marathon…in fact I just picked up “running” last year doing my first ever 5k and 10k, and with zero training. I got pulled off that 10k, and that literally was so devastating. I felt like such a loser. This lead me going to the gym, dropping a few pounds, and essentially being healthier. I registered to my first half marathon on Janaury 11th 2020 for runDisney and totally looking forward to it
I’m from Massachusetts, and months into living in Boston after moving for college, the marathon bombings happened. It was, objectively, the worst day of my life. 7 years later and I’m currently I’m training for my first half marathon (which was just pushed to November due to COVID-19), and many months after that, hopefully, I’ll be moving on to the Boston Marathon, running for a charity that supports research for the cancer my uncle passed from.
I watch videos like this one before every run, I love it.
All these people are great.. but the best runner is terry fox
The whole Marathon to Athens thing is nonsense and can be found out by a quick search.
The real reason is because the British royal family had the course extended in the London 1908 games, from 25 to 26.2 miles.
I don’t know why people would run a marathon. I’m not bashing people that do though because at the end of the day we all have are own views of how life should be lived and if it gets some people moving then that’s better than nothing. I just rather do hilt training as logically I won’t ever have to run 26.2 miles but I will have to on a lot of occasions run really fast for a short distance. Not only that but i don’t want to lose my toe nails or be running on asphalt for that long. I think there must be something about the social aspect of it that attracts people which I’m more of a rocky type and would rather workout alone.
i recently ran my first half-marathon and though i was in much pain by the end, it was maybe the greatest experience i’ve had with running. i hope by my first year of college i can have the opportunity to run a marathon.
When I finished my first half marathon I was so happy! It’s truly a great feeling running in events!
I find that those who run a marathon are the most honest people you can meet. You cannot cheat your way through 26.2, if you train and go the distance. Anyone willing to endure that much pain is willing to be honest. Doing a marathon hurts, so does being honest. Do it to be honest. Politicians, lawyers, and cheaters never run marathons. I trust those who have made the effort. Keep on running.:-)
This mans a savage just running a marathon and trying to interview and film people
honestly how are these people chatting with him after running 16 miles
I run because its human nature your the same natural organic machine you were before all this technology was here. Persistance running to hunt, travel, and get from a to b. Humans are the best at persistance running out of all the other creatures.
Well I got more work to do. Just finished my second half marathon on Sunday. Took me 2hrs 17 min. My first one after a week of training took me 2hrs 30min. After 2 months of training the progress is showing. I will GET that sub 8 pace. Thanks
Let’s be honest: people run marathons so they can tell others they ran a marathon.
“Why the hell are you running a marathon, I thought you hated running?!?” My wife asked me this after I’d signed up for my first ever marathon, Stockholm this year. To be honest, I don’t know why. I do hate just running. I’ve run obstacle course races, but that’s because they challenge the whole body and obstacles are fun. I now know the answer to why I ran in Stockholm and why I’m running several more in the future: The crowd.
I was prepared for cheering spectators, but I wasn’t ready for the magnitude… They were everywhere! Sitting on window ledges, cheering and playing music, they were on the streets, in trees(!), they were picnicing on patches of grass and they were in boats. I thought I was going to have to stop midway because of the skin of my heels starting to peel off and the cramps in my thighs getting worse for every step, but thanks to the BEAUTIFUL people of Stockholm, as well as a couple of my friends, I struggled on, even though the heat (32 C/89 F) was making things worse. When I crossed the finishing line, six minutes short of six hours, I broke completely and started laughing and crying and laughing and crying. It was the most amazing feeling ever… I couldn’t walk straight for two weeks due to the condition of my feet, but the day after I decided I’d run again as soon as possible.
Mile 1-18: oh, People run marathons because they are fun and festive and there are lots of people around cheering you on. This is nice, actually = ) <3
Mile 18+: PEOPLE RUN MARATHONS BECAUSE THEY CRAVE PAIN
My coach tells me: there’s no way to sugar coat a marathon training, bottom line is to embrace the suck.
One of the best thing about running a marathon, ” you never look back, same when it comes to life”
It was so weird seeing the girl from San Antonio, because that’s my city too.
The modern marathon is only 26.2 because of the 1908 olympic games. Originally, the marathon was around 25 miles (I’ve heard variations, but the most repeated distance is 24.7 miles). That said in the 1908 Olympic Games in London Queen Alexandra had the race Windsor Castle and end in the Olympic stadium which is 26.2 miles. It’s been that way ever since.
I’ve run 3 marathons (2 in Myrtle Beach, 1 in Pittsburgh). And here are some reasons:
1. Life Long Friends: I trained with a running group for 3 years, and I was blown away how much I learned about them. 20 miles on a Saturday? You talk. You need to. Not only does the time fly by with conversation, you learn more about a person that you would ever expect. I learned details of people’s lives that they hadn’t told their parents. You have so many experiences with them and they make you better as you push further with slow, long runs, V02 MAX sprints, and lactate threshold long runs. You depend on them, and they depend on you. The friendship is absolutely incredible.
2. Overcoming the Wall: The wall? Mile 21. Each time. It was hell, and it’s not mental. It’s very physical. Pain shot up my quad like a bolt of lighting, my left calf felt like it was on fire, and due to over-pronation it was hard to walk after. Mile 21-25 were the most punishing thing I had ever done. However, adrenaline pumps in like you would not believe when that.2 is left. When you see the finish, everything goes away, and it’s a small moment in my life of pure bliss.
3. Overcoming the Training: I had a student ask me: what did you think about while running? Well, everything. You name it. However, I thought for sure I would have this astute memory of running the race, but what came to my mind at the end was small visions of training. My first 20 miler which was in the pouring rain, my friend telling me his wife was pregnant, the time where another friend led us the wrong way and we ran 22 instead of 20 and I wanted to strangle him, the 11 mile midweek run where I sprinted my last 1.5 miles because I had so much in the tank, and the 16 miler that was right after a 15k race where I literally could not walk and had to quit at 14. Those were what popped into my brain, and they still do when something tough happens in my life.
4. My Dad: Simply put, he ran one, and he is the strongest person I know. He ran a 3:41 marathon, and I wanted to beat his record, but I ran a perfectly timed marathon (for me) and my PR is still 3:55:21. It was one of the few times my dad ever said that he was proud of me.
5. It’s so much fun: Yeah the last miles are hard, but the race brings out the best in so many people, spectators, volunteers, police officials, other runners are all there to have a safe race and have a great time. Cheers of the crowd are awesome, runners sharing shot bloks and gu’s because they just have a bit more in the tank, bands playing music, fans with funny signs, and (in the case of Pittsburgh) beer at around Mile 22. I always say race day brings out the best in humanity, and my first race was still one of the most memorable days of my life.
Happy running:)
I run because it is the only thing that helps me when I am depressed.
@NickBare Any plans to bring the strong range to the UK? I can’t seem to find anywhere online that supplies to the UK
Damn he gonna not even flinch at her 3 miles.
“Are you gonna acknowledge my run?”
There it is.
To see how much eternal suffering and pain they can go through lol
Cut the crap fellas. You run marathon to feed your own EGO. You can hide it packed as “to inspire next generation” but deep inside you know it is just about proving yourself and later bragging about it on social media. Why else 95% of people post photos after running marathon on facebook, instagram? Why next day in the office you tell stories how difficult and challenging marathon was yet you are so awesome that you endured it anyway. And yes I did ran marathon myself so I speak from experience.
See Tata Marathon 2019 Finishing line Videos in following page.
https://youtu.be/WgrtJmEA9hY
I’ve run two marathons and I still can’t remember why I did it. Maybe it was just because I wanted to be able to say I ran 2 marathons like I’m doing right now ✌
Oh my God, my middle school assistant principal is in the front row at 0:15
Ihave have never heard of anyone ask about ‘ running this stupid painful race’!
No it is not 26.2 miles between it is actually 26 miles the.2 was added after the royal family wanted the finish be next their box and the IOC officially adopted the distance later on.
Actually the length of the marathon doesn’t come from the distance between the cities. Once in an Olympic game in the UK, the runners ran a long distance and the queen (and the royal family) wanted to see the whole thing, so the distance that the runners ran was 42.195 km. Actually the distance between Athens and Marathon was about 30-40 km.
I’ve ran over 100 marathons in my life-time, and each time I run one, still, it’s so painful at the 30km mark I feel like killing myself.
lol this video did not motivate me to go outside and run. Im more couch than I am potato after watching this video.
If you really want to have fun running, try sports. It is so many more levels of fun.
All these people running and here i am on my bed watching this.
i’m skeptical that he ran a whole marathon with his glasses on
When you run a marathon, you are doing something less than 1% of the population will ever do.
I plan on doing on in two years and I say that because I don’t have a lot of experience. My mom does marathons and she does it for bragging rights. She also says there are no health benefits to running a marathon.
Hey commenters! Yes! I’m talking to you!
You can run a marathon just like these folks.
But cancer research isn’t purely good, because they use animals as test subjects.
I want to run the marathon to prove to myself that I can run that distance. I don’t know when it will happen, but hopefully before im 30… 9 years to try!
i feel like crying knowing i signed up for a marathon because of a silly bet i made. I know it’s my fault but I’m going to man up and just give it my all….still going to cry though knowing the excruciating pain that awaits me
People run the marathon because a lot of people do. And you don’t have to be competitive, all you need to do is get to the finish line.
The story behind how the marathon became 26.2 miles is actually a lot more complex than this. The ancient greek story is roughly true but the distance was not exactly 26.2 miles. In the very early days of running marathons a marathon was any race of around 20-25 miles or maybe a bit longer. Then there was a marathon in London which was made to be 26.2 miles because of the royal family wishing for it to start in front of buckingham palace (or end there maybe). This then became known as the ‘London distance’ and was copied by many other races and was gradually adopted as an official distance for a marathon.
Timing: 2:07 ”Some link with moderating deperessive feelings*”. Shouldn’t it be *depressive there?
My legs are thin as a chicken leg bone
After I ran 1km in a marathon,I fuccing fainted
The main reason why most beginers start running at marathons its because they ask the same question “why do people run marathons”? Lol
Not even gonna watch the stupid vid. People run marathons for health reasons and a sense of completion? Smh
A faster mile, 5K, or 10k is worth a lot more than completing a marathon. This is especially true if you have to walk during the marathon. I mean what’s the point?
Running marathons when you are young is very harmful to your knees and your back. If you like running long distances why not but if you are only looking for a healthy sport I’d suggest swimming.
Why? Cos marketing that’s why. I run but I do max speed 20secs interval sprints n 20secs rest but just 10mins every time I go have a session.
Running for over 15mins on constant long distance cardio nah, no time for that and the boredom of it itself kills the fun in running.
SO u ppl go have fun in your marathons n I’ll stick to my 10mins all out pant like a racehorse session n move on to more interesting things to do life. Oh btw I hit n push for 100% vo2max n not some BS sprint.
Why do people like having fun?
I tried having fun to find out.
Time? I love these videos of people running half/marathons but don’t show their finishing time.
He runs for 1-2 hours like its nothing I ran up and down the street for 20 minutes and I was done. felt really good after I ate and showered tho
Every time i hear strong reds i think it is going to be a beat superfood
So they can tell everyone about it every chance they get, and then put that 26.2 decal on their car.
Calm down marathoners this is a joke.
Hello!!!
Absolutely too short of a video. Give us more!!! (P.S. as a marathoner, this made me tear up. So inspiring)
It’s just beautiful and inspired! I hope one day I can join the marathon. Still practicing.
Completing is a marathon is easy compared to running a sub 18 minute 5k. The former requires a degree of commitment. The latter requires talent, being in top shape and a high VO2 max. Speaking from personal experience.
Awesome??… No as they say in scotland…” PURE DEAD BRILLIANT” …. loved it well done great film…. #inspiring.. ♀️♀️♂️♂️X
Can relate to Matthew’s story. I lost my father one month before my first marathon Houston 2020. It ruined my training and I hadn’t accumulated enough runs that were over 10 miles. Got to the start line fearing I would fail and have to stop. I finished it all in one go and I remember thinking of him every mile marker I passed. He kept me going to the end. I didn’t finish that marathon, WE did. Miss him every day.
This is awesome. Thank you, made me emotional, in a very very good way
I really hope all the trash littering the streets (flattened drinking ups, confetti, one use decorations) were properly disposed of…
I‘m running my first marathon in 2 months (alone) Would have loved to run my first marathon at a actual race but due to corona that’s my only option… and there’s no way I’m waiting till next year!!:) oh btw I‘m 17
So inspiring life stories of incredible runners, every person finishing a marathon look changed. Proud of the runner community
Hi Nick, Good luck for your IM, I am sure you’ll enjoy it. However, I would like to suggest you to put on some fat. you look too skinny (%fat). Fat is our fuel, remember it.
I’m not not a fast runner but I always hope and dream of running a full marathon in 1 of the big race around the world such as the New York marathon. Wish all the best to all the marathoners and stay safe from now on till the next run. Greetings from Malaysia
Running, especially long-distance run to me is like a meditation, from running I found my inner self, tranquility.
I’ve been thinking a lot about a physical challenge for me to train for, you just made me decide to run the Bolder Boulder just a few miles north of me this coming May. I’ve lost 50 lbs in a year, so my shins and knees should be able to take the impact. Thank you for the inspiration, and I’m stealing the quote about losing faith in humanity go watch a marathon. Cheers
I actually cried. Damn! I just started running and did my first 5K a couple of hours ago. Someday I’ll definitely run a marathon. The filmmaker is amazing!
I’m just 5 minutes in and I have the chills. I love the energy of these people
EDIT: I finished the video and I’m crying. Thanks guys. Great video.
This made me cry, I lost my Mum to ALS/MND a few years back and I completed my first marathon last month. Love the quote at the beginning, as I have been told my time was slow. Thanks Billy for another great film!
Thank you Strava for a great story. Joined Strava a year ago. Yet to run a marathon. Liked the quote ” a marathoner is a marathoner irrespective of the time”… there is hope for me.
I badly broken my right femur in a bicycle accident a few weeks after running Chicago Marathon. I don’t know if I’ll be able to run again yet alone do another marathon, so I know and appreciate hard it is!
As someone who want to start training towards marathon running and only runs about 6k everyday, do they run this marathon without stopping? Do they walk parts? Stop for drink and food breaks…etc?
Whilst watching I thought, this is like a Billy Yang film turns out it is! Great work.
Why did all the asians kept on falling , was it done on purpose?
I’m laughing at all these runners bad form, but am now paranoid of how I look when I run
A marathoner is a marathoner.
Wellsaid! Thank you! im running 100k ultramarathon this year..
Great one! I am so inspired to come to NYC Marathon one year, perhaps in 2020 😉
I’m not sure this is a very appropriate title… Anyone can be a marathoner once they signed up for a marathon.. even if you walk the whole thing is that a marathoner?. how about “competitive marathoner”… might be a better title…
it says 13.1 on the back of her car, that’s a half marathon://////
Oh wow. Thank you for bringing back those memories of November 3rd. I am still so proud of my finish in NYC. What an incredible race, city, volunteers, spectators. Once in a lifetime ♀️
I will make it one day! Just one question….is marijuanna a performance enhancing?
They all finished strong! My first marathon was LA 2011 and it rained from start to finish. It started coming down hard, so I went into a fast food restaurant at around Mile 15 to warm up, dry off a little, and get something to eat. Ended up finishing in 6 hours and 20 minutes I think. There were supposed to be bands and cheerleaders along the course, but most didn’t show up because of the rain. Fun times. I’ve done 14 more marathons since then including NYC, Berlin, and Chicago.
Running the Tuna 200 this coming Friday 25 October. Been following some of your tips and tricks man. Thanks!!
I don’t know why I’m even crying, but I cried throughout this episode. I want to run my first marathon in 2022. This is inspiring, thank you.
Everyone in the comments critiquing the runners’ style when their max running speed is probably half this
Yes, billy wang you could do a documentary on non elite runners, that would be so inspiring
I just finished my first spartan beast 2 days ago to complete my first trifecta medal and it was so hard…next year my goal is to finish a marathon…
Its so sad to see how many people run a marathon with really bad running form. First they need to learn a proper running form before they think to run even 10k. Its not just about style, but health, prevent injuries, happiness… You are happy when you can run pain free, right? And you are sad when you must pause cause there is pain. And then doctors have to work with your knees, hips, shins… All of this can be prevented by learning a proper running form and heelstrike is just totaly opposite from that.
Un maratón es un reto personal, espiritual, fisico y mental que al final vale la pena
Have been running for more than 35 years and have tried to enter the New York Marathon on 4 occasions, including their money raising random draw lottery. Finally given up as you would have to be either extremely lucky to legitimately score a BIB or have deep pockets to pay a travel agent with allocated entries.
I’ve been thinking it would be cool to see Billy Yang do a film on non-elite, back-of-the-pack runners. Just as many good stories as among the elites. Now I’m inspired for my long run tomorrow!
Thank you, great video. I hope to share that experience with my wife and run with her for the first time the new york marathon.
he best movie, i ever saw, its my dream to finish New York marathon, amazing
Came here to talk smack about Strava stopping HR recording, but wow what a great video! Awesome!
I just can’t imagine all the damage a marathon must do to the body especially if you’re running fast
What’s possible after running a marathon? I think that’s just a beginning.
So so true!!
This was beautiful and inspiring. I’m setting out for my first marathon next month and I can identify with an aspect of each of their stories. I needed to see this. Thank you.
This was so inspiring. What an awesome job by Billy Yang. Thank you!
I first ran nyc marathon in 1993.. after overcoming agoraphobia where I had trouble leaving my apartment on a daily basis.. running saved me even now 26 yrs later and many relapses, I just ran 2019 nyc marathon❤️
I think the running community is blessed to have a committed cinematographer and storyteller like Billy Yang. Kudos Strava, we need more and more videos like this one. Well done.
If you like this vid, watch Billy Yang’s ‘THE WHY | Running 100 Miles’ here on YouTube. It inspired me to run my first 100 miler. Shortly after finishing my first, I watched the vid again and ran another 100 miler 7 weeks after my first.
Very inspiring! Takes me back to my first Marathon twenty months ago. I went from 403 pounds in 2014 to running a full marathon four years later. Makes me want to get out there and do another!
I’ve just got something in my eye, OK?
Seriously, as someone who applied for one of those 5 Strava free NYC spots I can say these 3 definitely deserved it more! Great documentary.
I’m over 50 and PR’d at the Atlanta Thanksgiving Half by 2.5 mins over an already decent 1:40, so that and this film make me want to finally go tackle the marathon, starting with NYC!

Got to love Shout using Zyuranger to get the casual MMPR crowd interested.
Thank you for choosing Monique and raising ALS awareness. Hopefully we find a cure soon. Wish a lot of health and happiness to Monique’s mom.
You’re kidding, right? You run like 4-min miles, 10 miles a day, 6 days a week, whats 26 miles?! You’re starting to sicken me.
Enjoy the detail and specifics he puts Into his videos and description of his supplements not many people out there who put this kinda work into their videos keep it up nick

Nature is there to help us, including animals.
Run barefoot when you can. when your feet are hurting the snakes will bite them, their venom is similar to an opioid, and they can sense your pain and know much to use. they will numb you just enough to help you keep going.
The bird dropped the snake there for you.
In Genesis God created animals to be man’s helpers.
and in the new testament when Jesus fasted 40 days in the desert, it was the wild animals that came to his aid.
When you said good morning my phone thought you were talking to it
Nick what are your thoughts on that Netflix documentary game changer about vegan lifestyle? Just curious on your insights.
Being Irish I had no idea how popular kerrygold butter is in the states
U look jacked for all the endurance you do. Do u do much weight lifting?
Hi, what type of shoes do you use for run? Greetings from Buenos Aires Argentina .
Yoooooo, last time I watched you was when you were in the army, you look tiny now compared to then, what happened to all the bulk?
Podrias poner la dieta que haces actualmente? Gracias y un saludo
Some good Food (greens, daves killer bread) Some food that does not promote health (especially heart health) Eggs, Milk, butter. Better than most though!
Great stuff. Shocked that you graduated in 2013. Thought you were older, but for my own sake glad you r not. Enjoy your 20s while it lasts. In about 5 years or so midway into your thirties you aint gonna be able to do 1/2 of that sh*t. Atleast without hurting. You’ll be like wolverine in that last Logan movie. Healing powers diminished…lol. Stretching will be your new best friend.
as italian, it doesn’t seem me a good pizza 😉 (maybe i am wrong)
His shins hurt at mile nine?!!?! I want to know how he trained and what kind of shoes he was running in.
The is the craziest thing about iron mans is that people run marathons to train for it, while most people train for years to run a marathon alone. I’m wondering if this is all pure athleticism, or if the perspective of a marathon not being that much makes the difference. The fact that Eliud Kipchoge would run about 3-4 marathons a week total is amazing
Well if you’re running that much couldn’t you just sprint one mile and get an insanely low time or am I just stupid or something for thinking that
who says training like that is even good for you?! whats the point? Its obv amazing that you can do that, but at what expense?! seems like a full time job; between the training and the eating.
Can you also include paces in real units? I’m talking min/km.
What if at the end, he just sprayed himself with water and yelled “ Whooo”… I kid I kid lol
I’m doing couch to 5k right now. I’m going to run a marathon someday.
I started running in the midst of my eating disorder as a teenager. From overrunning and malnutrition, I got stress fractures that took the better part of a decade to heal. I want to do this because:
1. Recovering from an eating disorder makes you fat. I needed to gain the weight (it’s what finally healed by stress fractures, and it helped me mentally as well) but I’d prefer to be at a lower weight. But this time, I’m doing it healthily.
2. I’ve learned to find value in what my body can do rather than what my body looks like. I feel better when I can push myself further and further every time I run or work out than I do moving down a dress size.
3. It’s not in my genetics. My parents are both muscular without even trying (my mom still had a six pack after being bedbound for 3 months!) and I’ve always been skinnyfat. Neither endurance nor speed come naturally to me. But, I’m going to do this because my life has been nothing but overcoming obstacles that my life circumstances have put in my way, and I’m proud of that.
I used to run until I found it boring. Because what will give me that I will run hmm 10 km in a very good time? Apart from a few moments of satisfaction… Today I run purely recreational, I prefer martial arts. At least I will learn to defend myself and my loved ones, not to pat pointless kilometers and then brag about them on Facebook or anywhere.
You need to run on some rolling hills if you wanna compete in an Ironman race and not just finish for completion.
the first two youtubers i watch when i get to work. is bare and forece. both for me pump me up to stay motivated.
wanna move to austin so bad, i hate san antonio lol, good luck on your ironman nick!
i wanna join marathons so bad but i live in a tropical country, i sweat easily so i’m afraid of the weather. so i just run on a treadmill at home.
Like videos like your gear don’t like tattoos and bs. But keep it up keep it simple stay hard stay strong.
so you ran 26 miles and all you eat is 2 slices of a pizza.. im confused isnt he meant to be a nutritionist
Hey man love your stuff. What watch do you use to track your miles etc
I really love Bare’s video content. Unlike other fitness videos that are full of shit.
The preparations for the marathon are one large part of the fun in that sport.
The training and the health benefits from the preparation is the real victory for many runners.
Interesting to see the transformation from bodybuilder to endurance athlete (albeit maintaining a good amount of muscle mass). I’m going in the same direction. Lifting/having muscle is great but I think running has superior health benefits to say nothing of the mental fortitude it builds. Anybody can throw around weights for 45 minutes. Not everybody can run 26 miles.
Ran a marathon today at 8:27 pace and burned only 2,800 calories. If your Garmin is telling you 6,000 then either our efforts were way different or your Garmin is way too generous. (I do weigh 30 pounds less than you, but is that 30 pounds really costing you 3,200 calories? I highly doubt it.)
Would you do a video on the changes in your physiology after your first iron man? I followed your journey from start. I guess I’ve seen you on a video-videi basis so changed haven’t been super massive.
Really need a review of the watch you use. What would your recommend for someone getting into running and hoping to be doing 5 and 10ks. Price no object
Your target bike heart rate would be insanely low for me lol (I feel like I can never get mine that low!). What are your HR zone bounds?
I’ve been watching your entire series on the iron man and I gotta say you’ve been getting really really tanned
not sure who is writing your training plan but zero reason to run the full 26 in training.
After watching this video I’m up at 6:00 am for a mile run….I would like to run 5 without a problem one day…I plan on doing this everyday increasing in speed and distance….THANK YOU FOR PUTTING OUT THA CONTENT
I’m about too do the my first nyc marathon and do you have any go advise? @nickbare
Damn the one time I would have a chance to meet you you come to my hometown and im deployed FML.
If there is a save the rhino marathon, I’ll run (being the fat guy I an)
I love your videos man! You’ve inspired me to get in better shape and I even wanna try running my first 10k in a few months. Since you do a lot of weight lifting and a lot of cardio would you recommend rotating cardio and weight training days. I want to get better with cardio but also want to gain some muscle.
“Strong Reds & Strong Greens” sounds like something from a Bourne Movie.
I’m not crying. You’re crying.
This brings back so many memories. Ran my first marathon in New York in 2018. Haven’t stopped since.
But in the tread Mill you just lift your legs. ITS Easy. In a real marsthon you have to push off with your back leg.
Trust me Nick. Have a portable Vaseline or anti chaff cream for the run. After the swim and ride it worsens chaff for me. And I’m not full of muscle (but I do have thighs) so guessing the chances of arm and nibble chaff will be high. Take some with you and you will be so glad you did
Nick please do yourself a favour and buy a race bib belt which has a little pouch to store 2 or 3 gels for the run…the best set up is to see your aid station 200m ahead, quickly take your gel…then get to the aid station and walk for 15-20 seconds to ensure any water or gatorade you drink at the station goes down nicely. 20 seconds of walking to nail nutrition may save you 20 minutes in total time.
Running is so boring, I injured my shoulder weight training so I decided to do cardio by running until I heal. 1 mile in my body is all good but my my brain is like WTF are you doin? Stop!..Stooop!..I said STOP running!
Come to Germany and run the Zugspitz ultra trailstarts in Austria, ends in Germany. All through the Alps. They have routes from 39km up to 102.5 km. gonna be a great time! Next June 2020! Registration just opened!
He burned 6k calories but barely ate anything on cam. I wonder what kind of food and how much of it he ate off cam. Dude is a warrior.
Thx for all inspiration. Definitely gotta try the strong reds
How do you maintain all your muscle mass while doing all that running. I can’t keep an oz of muscle doing long distance running and working out.
Been watching u for years but never commented, ur drive and relentless attitude always amazes me.. keep goin, the world needs people like u!
Have you had any running injuries when you had all that muscle?
Consider having an Ibuprofen tablet as well. I have never used them (I don’t use any medication), but I have seen many triathletes ask for them.
