There are many wrong things with this breakfast. He even ruined the blackberries by adding some syrup. You mention that oats contain minerals. This is not entirely true. Oats contain potential minerals that need to be extracted. How do you extract minerals from oats? By soaking, and ideally, fermenting them for at least 12 hours (see fermented oats elsewhere). This removes phytic acid and increases mineral bioavailability. Otherwise, you won’t absorb phosphorus and magnesium. Then you should add more fats, you need fats in the morning. Also protein-rich foods, unless you are willing to eat 100g of oats! And bananas should be eaten when they are brown. See how people in tropical countries eat them. Sugar in bananas do not cause insulin spike like your syrup, so it is fine to eat ripe bananas in moderation.

That is incorrect information about the banana. The banana is best when eaten well ripened can cause upset stomach and harder to digest when green. calories and the way the body processes the banana metabolically is the same. So why not eat it ripe and be kind to your stomach.

So let me just say, I made this last night. Only the chia pudding and it was super delicious. Thick and creamy with coconut milk. I added a few cut up strawberries and a bit more maple syrup swirled on top of the mixed berries and it was heaven. This will be my morning go to breakfast. I am going to try it with almond milk next. But omg! Ahmazzing! Super easy to make and quick. I would love to try the other one with figs, this is a filler breakfast.

you cant just pan fry oats, jamie, if they dont expand in the pot of water they expand in your stomach, and it HURTS
A faster way to make it would be:-
First soak chia seeds for about 10-15 mins with sufficient water.
Then make the usual recipe.

Talk about making things more difficult than they need to be. Eat your bananas whenever you feel like it folks. The fruit sugar may vary but in the long run that will have zero to no impact in your lives.

Bananas are nutrition when ripe and unripe, there’s no difference.
Unripe bananas are high in resistant starch.
Ripe bananas don’t really have much resistant starch but is more digestible.
Also not to be rude but that nutritionist in the background seems like she doesn’t really know much.

WOOOO I made this using the cashew milk that turned out pretty bomb from your video! I needed a meal prep breakfast that was simple and quick. I added in a little homemade strawberry-chia seed jam to it:D. i usually put the chia seeds last since they do clump up while adding in the other ingredients. I also put this on top of my overnight oats.
Love this pudding with yogurt. Most videos only use milk or coconut milk. I tried a couple of variations but this is by far the best. The yogurt makes it so creamy and delicious.

Love your site and you are hot to boot! All that healthy eating shines through! I like chia seed pudding with a tablespoon of any nut butter. if buying from the store, I look for a sugar-free one. I put some cocunut oil in the pudding and some cinnamon and then add some frozen blueberries, which I always keep on hand in the freezer. Sometimes I treat myself with some 90% dark chocolate grated into the mix. Definitely my favorite breakfast AND it is ideal for people traveling, as they can pack and bring chia seeds with them. Instead of water, coconut milk can be used.
I made some chia pudding last night but it did not gel up like yours did….I mixed it well before putting it in the fridge and this morning the chia seeds were at the bottom…..do you know why that would be? It thickened very little.
Delicious! Can also sweeten with rice or date syrup to make it fruitarian. Also don’t eat too many chia seeds before you go to sleep they absorb a lot of water from your body which can lead to headache.

Not all sugar is bad for you! fruits are at their best when they are ripe for a reason. it akes them easier to digest and they taste better for it. green bananas are usually used for cooking not just strait eating

3 minutes? Only if you food prepped toasted oats and stewed blueberries and possibly mango on the weekend. Otherwise this is a 30 minute faffing about the kitchen. Take it from someone who was forced to cook for a family since she was 6 years old and knows her way around the kitchen and most recipes. Jamie has a good palate and good recipes but his utterly unrealistic macho BS in the kitchen is coming from his privilege to never have had to feed the entire family, three meals a day, every day for decades, with scarcely any thanks at all, in addition to a real job and all the housework (otherwise known as male privilege and ignorance of what women’s lives are really like). He should get some respect toward all the hardworking domestic cooks and at least be honest and realistic about the time and effort involved in his recipes, which is always considerable. I have never seen a recipe of his that was truly simple and quick, he should just give up the pretence.
Oh, and ps. advising people to eat unripe fruit in order to lose weight is not just ridiculous, it’s disrespectful and harmful. If someone wants to decrease the amount of sugar, they shouldn’t eat a breakfast that’s as loaded with carbs as this one. Try a vegetable omelette instead, ffs. Jamie is only getting more entitled, unreletable and annoying as years go by.

Hi, I am just about to place any order for some almonds online to make some milk for the Chia pudding. I normally just order whole raw nuts but noticed they sell broken raw almonds. As they are going to be blitzed these would on the surface seem to be suitable (and cheaper ) but are you aware of any nutritional issue with using broken nuts to make the milk?
But desiccated coconut does not automatically mean there is sugar in it. It just means it’s dried right?
So what went wrong? I followed the steps but after about 6hours I decided to check on the progress. The top of the bowl was mostly almond milk and appeared to be floating on top. I decided to give it a stir and discovered all the seeds had fell to the bottom of the bowl in a clump and needed to be stired to be broken up so the seeds better incorporated. The pudding is very clumpy. It will need to be stired again to make it smooth. So, what happened?
