I used to be a student and doing just home and studies activities, then I’ve started to exercise 25 days ago (5 or 6 times a week for at least half an hour; I do especially some HIIT or some jogging and some workout for muscles like abs, glutes, legs, depending on the day).
Anyway, except for that and for a more healty diet, my lifestyle is pretty still the same! SO: when calculating my activity factor, should I consider 1.375 as a value (light to moderate exercise)?

Listen I don’t know if you’re a registered dietitian or not but you are giving out false information.
Anyone who knows even a little about calories should know that it is dangerous to go below your BMR or basal metabolic rate. This is the amount of calories your body burns at rest, not counting thermogenesis and physical activity.
I used the Harrison Benedict BMR formula and found it to be 1,415 calories. I then used your formula and received 1,360 calories. that’s no longer a calorie deficit, that’s complete starvation. I did this for 2 weeks and almost fainted. I’m not exaggerating. But that’s not surprising since I’m eating less than my body require to even FUNCTION AT REST.
To top it off I was exercising 6 times a week so burning calories on top of that 1,300 and was so beyond exhausted it was ridiculous.
This calculation is faulty. It doesn’t take into consideration exercise or even how long you’re planning to be in a deficit for because someone’s goals may be a lot more dramatic than the next person.
So no, it’s not feasible for one simple calculation to cover all goals, all genders and all physical activity level.

I realized I wasn’t eating enough protein…. I am and have been under the calories, so I’m good there. I never new to count protein or even realized that was actually a ‘thing’. I’m doing it now and… wow, yeah, I am NOT getting enough. So I’m adding a cup or two of chickpeas which are low in calories but pretty good in protein to at least get close to the 160 that I need. It’s going to take a little more work in order to get to the amount I need.

Okay i did the math and it’s 1320 calories daily but my BMR is at 1270 which is less then the amount of calories I’d take in, my question is would i still lose weight or be around maintenance? Jordan, I have questions. My goal body weight is 130 lbs. So, I have to eat 130g of protein. And I’m a vegetarian who lives in India. (Low Availability and high cost of certain foods like Greek yogurt or tofu). I drink protein shake twice a day, 50g of protein, eat lentils etc at lunch and dinner (carbs>proteins or fats>proteins in most vegetarian food sources), regular yogurt (ratio of carbs:fats:proteins is almost equal). So all in all I end up with 70-80 g of protein per day. And about 140g carbs. And 60g fats. And by that time, I feel fairly stuffed. Fairly full. 2 questions: 1) how do I eat more protein when I’m full? 2) what do I even eat for it reach a 130g protein intake? Difference between 70g and 130g is huge.

I’ve been trying to lose weight for a month or two and always stay around the 256-258 area. I got to the gym 4 times a week. I use my Apple Watch to count calories. I’ve been pretty consistent in keeping track of what I eat on my fitness pal and do the 16:8 intermittent fast. Haven’t seen results and I’m not sure why. The problem with this is that if you’re training in the gym and weigh, for example, 200 pounds and you want to get to 180 pounds it can ”kill” your muscles if you down your calories by, for example, 1000 everyday. If you want to maintain as much muscle as possible you should drop 0,5 kg every week. So if you want to maintain muscle you ”should” calculate your weightgoal by every week. That a lot of info in one video. The first half of the video on how calculating your calories or maintaining per day is interesting. The movement thing just feel like too much. But it’s informational. (The math part is a little complicated to graph if your not use to calculating though)

In quarantine I have lost 35 pounds. I’m out of the obese range. I got to stop taking my blood pressure meds. I started by creating a calorie deficit in even just my sedentary life. A week later I started slowly incorporating some exercise. Then more and more. I now have been working out six days a week. All of May, I have been smashing through a pace of 6 days a week, and I have kept the same daily calorie count about 1800 calories a day.

After about 3-4 more sets, I gradually felt like I was going to faint, was dizzy, light-headed, and had tunnel vision. My legs have been twitching for days, and I kinda just thought I needed water. I’m always hungry.
And I think I need to eat more… and as a person who seriously struggles with their relationship, feeling like that is the right decision makes me have some serious emotions. Sir i have a doubt.. if I’m doing an intense workout and BMR comes out to be 2500 calories.. and with exercise i burn 500 calories.. so do I need to take fewer calories in diet also to lose weight? But reducing calories in diet will also cause weakness..and i wouldn’t be able to workout with such low calorie intake.. please clear my doubt..

Does not work if you are a 54 years old female 160cm height, 60kg. I came up with 1402 cal with a low activity factor of 1,2.
On only 900 cal or 1100 cal a day I can’t function really. I want to loose 6 kg.
Seem to be that this formula is not correct if you are older than 30.

Someone help me pleaseeee, im so confused. So this is what im doing right now: Before, during my bulk, I ate 1,500 calories a day. 2 weeks ago I started my cut, eating 1,150 calories a day + doing cardio on an empty stomach. ( burning around 400 calories ) Am I putting myself in a caloric deficit? If not, someone please teach me how I can.
Im 13 years old, 5’4, and weigh 116 pounds. I lift 6 times per week and dont play sports anymore. I do occasionally swim and like i said I have been doing cardio every morning for about 2 weeks now. I lost alot of water weight but thats about it, no fat loss in my face and barely in my chest and stomach region.

Love this video. Very helpful. One caveat: it’s “number” of calories, not “amount” of calories. From Grammarist: “Amount vs. number: Amount is used in reference to mass nouns (i.e., uncountable nouns such as bravery, water, and charisma). Number is used in reference to count nouns (i.e., countable nouns such as dog, year, and eyeball). Sorry this faux pas is a pet peeve of mine. Basically, if you can “count” the noun individually, use number, and not amount. Peace.:)
