Fatigue After Workouts?
Video taken from the channel: Dr. Joel Rosen
It’s normal to be tired after a long run. You’ve expended a lot of energy and put physical demands on your body. You’ve expended a lot of energy and put physical demands on your body. You are likely to want to take it easy the rest of the day, go to bed early, or even fit in an afternoon nap.
If you’re tired after running, there’s a good chance you overstepped your energetic boundaries while running — which causes your body to make energy anaerobically, or without oxygen. This process often occurs due to overtraining and inadequate nutrition. As I’m starting to do some longer runs (7-9 miles), I have been feeling great during the runs, but about an hour after I finish running I feel awful! I’m totally exhausted and just need to lie down!Selena asks: After my long runs, I can barely stay awake.
When I get home, I fall asleep for at least four hours. I am usually very sore and stiff when I do wake up, since I hadn’t been moving. So.If you’re spending your nights studying, working or taking care of your family instead of sleeping, you’re depriving your body — and this can make you feel even more tired after a workout.
Get seven to nine hours of sleep a night to allow your muscles to rest and rebuild, recommends the National Sleep Foundation.Fatigue is not unusual but if you have been doing long runs for a while and are still finding yourself useless for the rest of the day after a typical long run you could be neglecting one or more of these: Get lots of sleep the night before a long run. If you’re saying “Oh no I’m fine with 6 hours.”.
In theory and from personal experience, you should feel more awake and active after going for a run. Perhaps you are overworking yourself and feel fatigue due to having a lack of vitamins and minerals in your body. The lungs provide oxygen to our organs and are responsible for removing carbon dioxide from the body. The physical exertion during a jog or run increases the strain on those muscles you use to breathe. At the same time, exercise, such as running or jogging, requires our body to.
After a few weeks of skipped or missed long runs, your fitness declines and faster speeds seem more difficult. You’re simply not building the endurance base you need to support your other workouts. A “normal” run of 5 miles may now be a lot closer to your long run – and it will feel that way!
So do yourself a favor and prioritize the.Patients often question why they are so tired after surgery. Many patients think that because they have been “put to sleep with anesthesia” that they should be refreshed and have more energy as they recover from their surgery. However, the tired feeling after surgery is the usual situation for most patients and there are some reasons for this outcome.
If you’ve ever tried to run a little more than you’re completely comfortable with, it’s likely your form has suffered a bit—whether it was enough to cause discomfort or not.I run 4.5 miles twice a week and after about an hour post exercise I am so tired. I will sleep like for 4 hours wrecking the rest of my day! I usually will eat a piece of fruit and a slice of wheat bread with peanut butter afterwards, but maybe I should be eating more.Just don’t sleep too long!
The length of the nap will determine how good you feel. About 20 minutes works quite well, but much longer than that and you will wake up feeling terrible.”.There’s physical fatigue, like you might experience after a long run or playing sports. That kind can lead to achy muscles, but it’s usually pretty good for sleep.
There’s mental fatigue, like you might get after doing your taxes or something similarly taxing. After my long runs (up to 15 miles so far), I feel ok in terms of lungs and legs etc. Interesting thread as I too am very cold after running and was wondering why.
I am a biggish build short bloke and ran 13.5 miles this morning, I had 3 poached eggs on wholemeal toast for breakfast and then ran and ate fish rice and veggies after.

I’m too much always drained in the middle of my new workout circuit, consisting of shoulder and chest in 1 phase.
Im doing you every other day fast, where i fast 21/3 and break the fast with after w/o shake with 50g whet, 10 dextrose, 10g fruit, salt, and omega3s
off days ionly fast 12 to 16 hrs
I was super tired today, like “man I gotta fix this. I ain’t going to get anything done if I stay this way all day. It’s just insanely miserable.” Searched youtube. discovered your video, and especially your closing statement got me. Thanks man. Subscribed, WITH notification bell! PS I looked at my coffee cup ominously when you mentioned coffee and hydration. lol!
Thought provoking vid Jason. Some great stuff there. Thanks for sharing.
I have this problem for a while around 5pm I get soo sleepy I just fall asleep or if I have something to do around this time I have to hold that urge to fall asleep… I het around 7 hours of sleep at night idk what couses this issue.
Is lack of breathing Can also be part of the fatigue after workout???
i thought the simple answer is no? Tired/fatigued means rest. Or am i over simplifying it?
My two cents… Take fulvic acid, thus contains not only chromium but the full spectrum of trace minerals
Are they any healthy snacks you should eat after a workout to give you a boost?
Does this include intermittent FASTING (break your fast with lean protein)???
Alright Thomas!! You need to make a video about this new breath analyzer “keyto”. I thought, and not just according to you but many, that measuring acetone in the breath was an inefficient way of checking to see if you’re in ketosis. What’s the deal? Why is this thing being hyped up as the next big thing?
Really learn something about this as I where going through all of these symptoms…. Thanks Doc.
Just went to the gym. Thanks for the motivation!! Guys just do it!!!! Also take a pre workout so it wakes you up more
I struggle with hydration and nutrition on the run. I’m ok until around 18 then start to have some nausea. How can I prevent this. I’m trying to have a gel every 5 miles. On these cold days I struggle to get fluids right.
Well when u r in a deficit not much u can do about crashing mid workout. Gotta get ripped brah
Also higher quality food will lead to less exhaustion. And, better food timing.
Both my husband and I have the feeling of being tired all day long. We wake up at 6am and go to bed around 10:30pm or even 11:00pm. That’s 7 hours of sleep and we feel so tired. We are young. He’s 20, I’m about to turn 22 this year and we both feel as if we were 60 years old. We won’t exercise because we feel so tired due to the schedule that we have to keep up every single day. We have been told our blood work is fine and we don’t know what else to do. Nobody believes us, they always say we are too young to feel like this.
I slept while watching the video, have you ever imagine that your going to have such lazy viewers I’m commenting at morning now
Tired after breaking a fast? Hmmm, could it be I went to bed at 2am and got up for work at 6? No, stupid it was your fast.
And what do I do when I’m dealing with extreme depression and I just can’t even look at myself in the mirror because of how much I hate every bit about myself?
☉Time of day toosometimes my nightime workout is better, energeticallythan first thing of the day.
Caffeine messed me up badand while i miss it dearly❤❤❤, i do feel better without itsystem is more balanced-stomach hates acids,etc..
Boy, do i miss coffee! Love mochas and a scone. ☕YUM
Great video
Good pointsmineralsmineralization
Thanks!
I have never finished a 20 miler at “easy” pace thinking I could have gone another mile but I have managed to PR every single year.
I literally rather sleep or just lay in bed all day everyday then anything else. The thought of plans, appointments, leaving the home causes me so much distress and I hate it
I can sleep for 24 hours even tho i just lays at my bed everyday, and i feel very tired. Idk why
Jason, you recommend upping mileage into the 45-60 range, for a good marathon. Are there dangers of going higher into the 70-80 range? Or even more?
Great stuff advice on your site and thanks for the videos!
Seriously! I hope everythings going good for you in the physical dept! Sweet dreams
Great topic. I totally overdid things this year then paid the price I think it’s important we talk openly about this stuff, so big respect from me ✨♀️
First thanks for all your videos with that said I’m really super confused I don’t know if the science is changing or you’re just saying how many videos you can make with different information. First in Aug 12,2017 on your Thomas Delauer Channel titled “Fasting tips: 3 Best foods to break a fast” 2:05 use bone broth for health reasons, 5:14 MCT oil for fat loss & finally @ 6:18 high glycemic carbs like rice cakes.
Then In your six pack abs video from Feb 20, 2018 titled “how to break your fast and destroy belly fat quickly” you only say we need to eat high glycemic foods like rice cakes to break a fast. You said we need the insulin spike but in this video “FAT” gives you an insulin spike and that’s why we get tired.
That brings us to Jan 6, 2019 in another video on your channel titled “top 3 mistakes people make when breaking a fast” you say for Keto people break with small meal of protein and fat 7:52 or rice cakes if not Keto.
Now I’m just supposed to eat lean protein only in this video… I’m so stressed and overwhelmed by all this “Science you’re dropping on us” and I haven’t even watched all your IF videos I hope I do it “right”whatever that is???
Can you do one on suana use and recovery, hormones levels. I swear by them for recovery depression and anxiety. I guess it increases hgh
And dynorpholins.
Hi Jason. Started watching your videos a few months back, enjoying the info. I’m targeting my 1st marathon in January 2021.Gave myself an 18 month timeline. Training was decent and i did 2 5ks in September, i have 2 in October and 1 in November. Want to work my way up to 10k, 1/2 marathon etc but the goal is January 2021. Any tips?
I’m training for a marathon are the massage guns value I feel sore always
What do you do, in terms of running, between the marathon and the beginning of the next training block? Can you still work on intervals and tempos after the recovery time? How many miles should you be running per week in relation to your peak marathon training week?
Thomas!! I struggle with this so much and have always wondered what I was doing wrong, what was wrong with me,etc. Thank you so much!!!
great video with very nice advice, after this people should watch the video about periodization, i think it goes hand and hand and after that go watch the video when do i know when am ready to run a marathon
Focusing your energy on things you have up ahead. That’s it…. thanks TRE. I love you videos, I watch your videos and I really appreciate the content you guys put out. Thanks.!!!!
You’re wearing my favorite shirt dude! I have the exact same thing!
Thanks I have Anemia and I thought it’s not because of anemia that I’m always tired and bored
Great video! I would add that’s it’s important to take time for recovery. This will help prevent injury. Listen to your body when you do push past an acceptable level of fatigue.
Question: How fo I know what my marathon race pace should be? In other words, how do I use my training to extrapolate what pace I should/can race at? (Specifically for marathon distance).
Thanks!!!
My question: I have found a nice marathon schedule of 16 weeks, but my planned marathon is only in about 24 weeks from now. I am ready to start this schedule, but how should I extend it? Just start and add some heavier weeks at the end, or do some weeks double?
Great thoughts, Jason. 4:37 on was especially helpful. Thanks!
Thanks for being real and telling us what to expect Jason. Knowing that someone with elite times like yourself goes trough the same things everyone else does is really great to hear:D! I am at that phase you mentioned (longruns 14 miles) and running 35-40 miles a week. The difference I notice from just 8 months ago when I was running 20 miles a week pretty minimal. I spend more time on my feet and run more but my body recovers on easy runs and also I have gotten ALOT stronger and my body can handle the stress so much better than before.
2 years ago I couldn’t run 1mile without having to stop and huffing and puffing like a maniac! Now I can handle 35-40 miles pretty decently. Do you recommend me to focus on marathon training or should I work on the short distances first? 5k pr 23:56 10k pr 52:17 Half pr 2:03:47.
My longest longrun is 15 miles and I have only been at 40 miles 2 weeks now.
What a great sport running is!
As for marathon videos it would be really cool if you made a video explaining how to plan a marathon training cycle, what mileage is recommended before starting a marathon and maybe how to transition from half to full marathon.
Thank you for showing yourself more on youtube Can’t wait for more.
Now this is what i was looking for as for information thank you doctor great help
So confusing. This goes right against a fat-filled coffee and the bulletproof coffees that have been recommended for breakfast in the past. Help?
Seeing you in a coca cola shirt is sad! People take in so much through the subconcious through images. You are supposed to be a good example here. Right??? Hope you got paid WELL..
I love 36 your fasts. I’d do them more if I could sleep better that night. The only reason I break my 24 hour fasts is so I can sleep that night. I could easily go longer.
this started to me feeling tired all the time once i turned 51 years old
Hi, very much appreciate your videos! I would like to ask you about pain I have underneath my forefoot as I apply pressure. It only happens after about 90 mins of running. Could it be due to dehydration? Because I don’t think it’s my gate or shoes otherwise the pain would come earlier in the run? my long runs are a stuggle only for this reason.
Thanks
I couldn’t believe it when I saw this. I felt like you read my mind! I really struggled with this after my last 2 fasts. Thank you!
I have a marathon in a little over two weeks and I have a little niggle in inside of my left knee. It’s not excruciating by any means and usually once I start running for two or three minutes it goes away. It comes back in the late afternoon after I’ve been sitting a bit and things tighten up in my body. I feel like I just need to take a break from running for it to go away completely and I am worried that running will make it worse. I am planning to taper the final week before the race and am hopeful that time will be sufficient to totally heal my knee. If you were me would you stop running sooner?
I’m running my first Half Marathon on Sunday. When do you recommend running again after doing a Half Marathon? Couple of days or weeks?
Should you train if you have a head cold? Lower your expectations and get out or rest up?
Anyone going for a run ✊ you have beat the people sat on a sofa watching TV eating pizza. Coach Elizabeth
i am a kid i know some of kids doesn’t do any workout i do a non equipment workout but when i got back from school i got like im sooo tiree but when i watch you saying all this things it goes through my head; when are you gonna do it all that things make me GET UP AND RISE
Will u put video about the diet program which type of food should eat to increase the stamina for long run
This energized me. It’s taken me 8 weeks to lose 10 lbs. mostly because I’m stressed and never seem to be hydrated enough. I’m trying not to be discouraged because I feel like I could have lost more. Anyway. Thank you for this
Oh, dear! The doctor looks so tired himself, and he doesn’t speak clearly-plus uses the phrase “tired all the time” far, far too often-and I’m falling asleep just trying to follow his video. WAIT! I WANT to fall asleep, so I guess I should listen to this!! (as I yawn my way through it)
Thanx!!! regular coffee no fat is ok right after you brake a fast?
I leverage that tiredness by breaking the fast 1-2 hours before going to sleep and it works like a charm! I sleep really well:)
I would love more information about working with you one on one. I have battled Chronic fatigue for over 10 years and seem to be a medical mystery for most doctors. I too workout and crash for days or sometimes a week. It’s so frustrating.
Kudos for the Video clip! Sorry for chiming in, I would love your opinion. Have you heard about Parlandealey Active Life Process (just google it)? It is an awesome one off guide for learning how to stop feeling tired minus the hard work. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my m8 at last got amazing success with it.
My mum watched this and got orgasms by listening to ur voice. She wants to get pregnant by you now!
Thanks a ton. Gonna subscribe. This advice is UNIVERSAL! Cheers
What if your arms are hurt or fatigued from a strong workout
I’ve been so sleepy recently، I keep falling asleep while I’m driving.. last time I fell asleep in gym car park.. I slept for 15 minutes, lol
Hi,
I’m trying to fast from 6pm to 10am the next day. However, I’ve been having the following Matcha green tea around an hour or so before bed (9:30pm) and wanted to know if it’ll break my fast:
1 cup hot water
1/2 teaspoon Matcha green tea powder
1/2 of a Lemon slice, including some of the surrounding membrane
1/2 teaspoon Ginger that I cut and hand crush
<1/4 teaspoon of ground Cinnamon (I got the Ceylon variety
1/4 teaspoon of ground Tumeric
1/4 teaspoon of ground Maca
1 green Cardamom cracked
It’s a modified version of a recipe from Motivational Doc: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qx0tPqVhjEs
Is this something that would break my fast if I take it during my fasting window?
Thanks!
I think there can be a mental advantage to completing a workout when you’re tired, even more so when you’re tired and sore. You can’t always predict how things will go on race day, so knowing that you can (and how well you can) perform when tired is worth it. Besides, you’re almost always tired and sore at the end of a marathon, so working out when tired is especially useful mentally for that reason alone.
Listen to your body aches or tiredness. Skip a hard day run if you need to slow down or do something else instead. No point working out too hard when you are tired, it is counter productive.
Yea but i didnt sleep the whole night yesterday,, so basiclly i havnt slept in 2 days.. and i dont know if its good for me to workout… i know i can get throught with it,, i know i can get in a good workout,, but im nervous that its not going to be healthy for me
When you’re sleepy and needs to work, don’t workout, if u have more time wide awake then workout
There isn’t much of a way around it in my opinion… Eating and sleeping are just part of the sympathetic nervous system and whenever we eat, especially after a fast, we tend to activate this system which chills us out and says “now rest and digest, your mission is complete.” My dad always sleeps really heavy after a meal.
I take 30mg of vyvanse daily for adhd (which is an amphetamine drug) would that make me dehydrated because I’ve heard that when people take speed recreationally they get really dehydrated so when I take my vyvanse (which I’m prescribed I’m no junkie) would that also make me dehydrated and thus fatigued after work outs?
Thanks for the video content! Sorry for the intrusion, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you ever tried Parlandealey Active Life Process (do a search on google)? It is a good one of a kind product for learning how to stop feeling tired without the hard work. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my GF after a lifetime of fighting got amazing results with it.
I come back to this video every time I feel like not going to the gym. Thank you!
Listen to your body. Workout and eat intuitively. If you’re forcing yourself to do something think about why you have to force yourself to do something that you believe is good for you. Maybe your mentality is off, maybe you see exercise as punishment for indulging the day before. Exercise should be enjoyable and it shouldn’t be forced or coerced. If exercise is something you have to force consider finding a type of movement that’s more enjoyable because if you enjoy it you’re more likely to stick with it long term and not feel guilty for skipping a day when you need/want rest.
awesome info! Thanks I was struggling with this and couldn’t figure out why? thought it was my adrenals?
Often times the reason you feel tired during the workout still even after your warmed up, it’s probably sleep!! Even not getting enough sleep throughout the week will deprive you and you wouldn’t even notice! GET YOUR SLEEP YOULL THANK ME LATER!
Do I take the chromium with my fast breaking meal or some period of time prior to breaking fast?
This started like 2 days ago idk but I’ve slept well but later in the day I feel tired when I didn’t even do anything
Edit: just found out I had dry eyes
Hi coach!
I want ask something, how I know that I’m ready to run again after sick (flu etc)? Do I need a week rest or mayber more?
Question for you.. I have my first marathon in three weeks here local to me. The only issues I’ve had during training is a tight right hamstring. But somewhere in the past 2-3 weeks I’ve got a bad left leg shin splints. What is my best course of action? Keep training through it since I’m so close to race day? Take some time off? Not sure what to do. I’m an average guy who just started running. Thanks!
Fkn dick i was hopin to stay home today, guess im hitting the gym
Hi Jason, awesome video again. Keep up the good work.
QWhat is your race week workouts leading to a Marathon/Half marathon on the weekend.
Manash from India.
I’m the opposite. When I start to work out and I know it’s gonna be a half assed job due to tiredness, I at least attempt, but then say nah not today… cuz I don’t wanna risk an injury due to improper form, etc so that becomes my “rest day” and get back to it the next day harder. If I take more than 2 days off a week, then it’s a problem. That’s when I say “ok, I’m gettin lazy!!”
I’m 45 now and I don’t have the drive like I did when I was in my twenties. Thank you for the video I see it’s my mind playing tricks on me.
QUESTION:
I live in Wisconsin where it is quite cold in the fall and winter months. I am not acclimated to running outdoors in the cold. My training takes place on a treadmill in the cold but I run outside when it is warm enough. Question is “Does it matter if my training for a marathon takes place on a treadmill?” I have run a Half Marathon competitively twice already but am now ready to try 20 miles. The 20 miles would be on a treadmill. “Is it okay to try 20 miles on a treadmill?” And if I am successful, can I expect that if I do it indoors, I can do it outdoors as well?
Sorry the question was so long.
I mean I don’t really see a point. Because if you are going to be tired. Have little sleep, and if the whole point of working out is to push yourself, and you literally do not have the energy to do it. Then why would you even go in the first place? If you’re just going to half-ass it anyway? Do you think that you’re just going to have some random bursts of energy from out of nowhere? Because if you don’t have the full energy and you are not pumped, you could save yourself the trip. Because you’d be wasting your time. And not only that but you would be wasting even more energy. It’s counterproductive. Because if you’re going to go to the gym you should hit it with 100% and everything you got. And if you don’t feel 100% how do you think you’re going to perform?
I do my homemade workouts on my abs and I do it and I start off rlly good but then when I do 3 workouts I get tired to the point were I could barely but effort on my workout were I can’t feel the pain in my abs and i always used to do all my workouts without a problem but now I feel so tired after 3 workouts
Ok, wtf. HERE ARE THE FACTS:
PROTEIN SPIKES INSULIN HIGHER THAN FAT.
I remember i went to go visit my brother and was aware that i had work at 4 am. I came back home at 2:30 in the morning and needed to get up at 3. I just said fuck it, and did not sleep and went to work. Even when I was exhausted and tired all day, I still went to the gym. Everyone thought I was crazy enough to go and was shocked that I still went. I felt good from the workout and never regretted it. I felt proud that I had that drive. Usually when it comes to my work schedule, I sleep 5 to 6 hours and still go to the gym. Keep working at it. Even when there is a lot going on in your life, you can always find time to work on those gains. Sleep less, work more. It is the best drive for me and has not failed me.
Misleading title if your point is not actually being physically tired but lazy and unmotivated
I’ve done omad for the first time this day..and after breaking my fast after 20hrs…I ate rice just to have carb cycling and 3 donuts with lot of proteins on the side….(I dont eat rice and carbs now for 2 weeks now) but after eating that man..I passed out…after eating around 5-6pm. I wake up tired so tired…so maybe carbs like white rice are making me sluggish…but everytime i consume more protein and fat…i dont feel tired but i feel constipated too. it’s hard to fast on asian household. you cant choose what to eat after.
I hear you but I’m at the point that I’m dizzy. 23 days straight of physical work(including weekends), 11 hours a day, plus hour to two hours in the gym and last night I actually fainted getting up too fast. Yeah. I’m taking a few days off gym to regain some energy.
Unreal demonstration of providing value without wasting any time whatsoever. Thanks mate, gonna check out the rest of your channel.
I always start my workout at really late and go to sleep really late and end up being extremely tired in the day time and night time and I can’t be bothered to do it in the day time.
Wow, Elizabeth is really going off the rails in those outtakes! Awesome to see:-)
Doctor iam suffering from anxiety disorder from past 3years taking medication too.. Then I started small exercise but after exercise iam feeling tied and messing about sleep at night..what is my problem??
But is it safe? Will I gain when I workout while tired and sleepy? Btw I’m 16
Fuck IF it’s so complicated I can still loose fat without being in IF
Am so glad I stumble upon this channel cause lord knows am suffering from fatigue after work out
I just did sum Jumping jacks got the blood pumping ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The thing that worked for me was breaking my fast with cooked veggies! Then eat some meat with veggies (raw or cooked) about an hour later. That works for me!
Appreciate video content! Excuse me for the intrusion, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you tried Parlandealey Active Life Process (do a search on google)? It is a smashing exclusive guide for learning how to stop feeling tired without the hard work. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my GF at very last got great results with it.
I only slept 4 hours last night haha that’s why I looked this up…
I think I slept while listening to you that how much sleepy I feel I was hoping you tell me to go to sleep.
Thanks for the advice will listen to eye of tiger Mike Tyson video that always wake me up.
Thanks for your great tips brother
When I first started working out I could do a long 3 hr circuit and feel pretty good afterwards. But after 4 months of that something weird happened, slowly I was doing less and less because my body was giving out. I have no idea what’s wrong. I’m still having this issue today.
Hi there! This is a very helpful video for IF. Can you offer me the specific brand and type of chromium you recommend? Also, I know that it is recommended to take Magnesium Citrate at night-I use Natural Calm; however I am wondering if you can share the difference between Magnesium Glycinate and Magnesium Asporotate. Not sure which mineral is the best. Thank you!
Very well timed for me. I have similar feelings but then i wake up during the sets. No bull shitting, plain and simple
It’s not that I don’t have the mental strength I’ll push through anything it’s that I don’t know if my body is physically healed enough I work so hard physically at work and slept so little today I don’t know if it would be counterproductive
If you’re tired it isn’t healthy to work out when you are fatigued. If you are tired or fatigued, that is different to feeling like you can’t be bothered. If you are tired, there is an underlying issue. You could not be putting the right things in your body and have poor nutrition. If that is the case, it is DEFINITELY not healthy to work out anyway. You will end up burning yourself out.
I have been breaking my fast with 3 hard boiled eggs n 1 whole avocado. Then 2 hours after having a spinach salad with 4-6 oz of grilled chicken breast chic peas or black beans with straight balsamic vinegar and mct oil. Dinners what ever my wife makes unless I’m grilling. I’m also at the gym training at 4am-6am breakfast between 11am -noon. Enjoy your videos changed my life n the way I look at food. Thanks
I used to be tired all the time until I started tracking my micros. I made sure I’m getting all my vitamins and minerals from real food and it helped me.
But I just watched a video of yours that you said break your fast with bone broth and MCT oil and a rice cake. You’ve totally confused me now.
What if you sore?? Or feel that your body is a bit tired after 4 days working out??.
I sleep 4 hours per night because I’m a full time student and working full time with 2 kids is this healthy for me I workout Monday and Thursday then sat and Sunday I sleep to get me sleep back
Just wonderful, I have been researching “fatigued heart” for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried Qiyia Ziyichael Booster (search on google )? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my mate got cool results with it.
Thank you for explaining this. Every time I do exercises that is not cardio I fall asleep when I come home for atleast 3 hours. I am going to drink more water to see if that helps and if not, try the rest of your list. How do I improve or identify #5?
Oh, no! I’m doing it wrong? I am on OMAD Keto, so, when do I eat my fatty meat? Anyone, please?
It’s gonna take a lot of sacrifice to get the things you really want. It all depends on how bad you want it. Thank you.
he makes me sleep….he is way much more TIRED than me
Thx Thomas! You’ve been a huge inspiration to me. I’ve lost 36lbs in almost 2 months. That’s great for me at 49. Keep the videos and great content coming. You’re helping more ppl than you know.
I appreciate that message dude, I tried watching another video and the dude was a dick and completely off base, but you were dead on and came off as encouraging and motivating.. Definitely didn’t get hardly any sleep last night went to work, and completely drained, but definitely need to get this work out in!
I felt this was inspiring I feel fatigued thinking I can’t lift form and hard but I’m gunna go for it thank man
Hey thomas i suffer from chronic allergic sinusitis and whenever i go on a low carb diet or try to start keto i experience a bad time with my sinus and the problem doesn’t go away with my normal medication
I’m tired most days, due to my toddler still not sleeping through the night. But it’s determination that gets me going again. I start off slow in my workouts but finish strong. And I feel heaps better after.
I’m not the biggest fan of Flax due to the estrogenic properties. For ease of breaking it I usually have a scoop of pea protein then wait 30/40 min to eat a high fat meal.
when should your last ‘speed’ work out be out from the marathon day? Sped training as in intervals/threshold

Eye doctor missed the fact that some people don’t have ovaries after chemotherapy. I lost mine and ever since then I have hot flashes and fatigue all the time.
Because of my age, I really listen to my body more than ever. I have to take 3 days off a week or I can do the other 4. Sundays are completely off and the other 2 off days I still do cardio.
I wonder if Tai Chi could cure this or one must accept the fact that one is a B-human….
Can a basic protein shake also work for those who are not big meat eaters?
Thank you my ex was toxic super toxic and that’s my reason I’m very fatigue
Also, make sure to sleep in a slightly cold room. Your body heats up when asleep so it needs a slightly cooler space.
Me: anemic, very low vitamin D levels, no regular sleep schedule I wonder why I’m so tired
Made me smile, something we can all identify with I usually say to myself: tomorrow never comes…and that gets me going…
“…lack of red meat” vegan endurance athletes prove this fool wrong.
Guys can any one give me a really helpful solution to my extreme psychological and physical lethargy after 4:5 hrs of classes at uni in a row from afternoons till evening
I challenge you to drink wine every time he says tired all the time
Cheers for the Video! Apologies for the intrusion, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you thought about Parlandealey Active Life Process (probably on Google)? It is a great one of a kind guide for learning how to stop feeling tired without the normal expense. Ive heard some great things about it and my buddy at very last got cool results with it.
I been tired my whole life no matter what always feel asleep in school it gets worse every year
you obviously don’t know the difference between lazy and exhausted (or even overtrained), bad advice dislike
im 68kg and if i drink half my body weight that would be 3500 ml divede on 250ml glass that is 14 glas a day sounds insane and i would pee out every miniral and vitamin that cant be correct? or maybe only drink a bit like that maybe 4-5 250ml glass while working out? today i wen to swim before breaking my intermitten fasting after bad sleep as well and i felt terrible and energyless feeling the terrible fatigue just after 1h swiming of 25m x 25 back and foruth and drank maybe 2-3 250ml glass of water during the work out.. i dont know how to fix my health issue anymore i need help can someone help me please?:((((
So needed this video. I’m still tired 1 day after my fast. Broke my fast wrong. Ty for your excellent content all the time.
Thank you bro, just did an hour shoulder work out and feel great, subbed:D
I eat regularly and sleep 8 hours still I’m feeling tired all the time. I’m planning to eat vitamin c and see if it helps me l.
After a marathon. How do we determine the next goal pace?
I have hit a 2:59:40 but I’m under age 35 so it was not good enough for Boston. Was wondering what goal to go for and how do we figure it out? 2:55 sounds great but it’s just a guess with no formula
The real reason is sugar and high fructose corn syrup get this out of your diet and you will feel alot better.
The days I go to the gym, I can only sleep 6 hours if I want to be on time for my job, so I have no choice but to sleep less those days. Yes, I do feel tired, but somehow I feel better compared to when I chose to sleep and zero exercise. It may be only in my mind, and I know I can’t be a complete athlete but I feel that this is better than nothing.
Wait…a minute there is a guy more tired than me.... bruh.. I m so pumped n motivated after watching this video..
This video is perfect. I’ve been Turi b to lose weight so I’ve been taking all kinds of classes. Afterwards, I feel tired enough to nap is the car. I literally barely have energy to drive.
Are you insinuating that fats result in a lower spike than fat? My understanding has been that fasting aside, fats cause the lowest spike, much lower than protein and carbs.
Your channel is awesome I feel a lot better after doing the things I’ve learned on your channel and am faster too. Good stuff!
I’m a Triathlete and an EMT which means I get tested for my lower back strength so I can’t neglect lifting weights or swimming. What kind of millage should I be looking at doing If I want to finish a marathon competitively at the end of an Ironman triathlon. Given that I can’t run everyday since I’m doing something else that’s strength or conditioning oriented. Not looking at the fastest Marathon times given that it’s in a triathlon. Just your thoughts on the right direction.
I walk 6 miles a day which takes me two hours (cause I’m a fat ass) and do weight training for about 45/60 minutes. I probably don’t eat enough but it’s hard to get a shit ton of calories and water in
I love watching y’all’s videos. You make training seem fun and makes it feel less stressful. Thank you.
So I have found that some of my best workouts come when I am not feeling like I want to workout, but like you said, just get out there and do something, a lot of times it will spark you into a good workout.
we’re not asking about 3-4 months the question is ONE DAY one day u idiot
my doctor told me low iron…also anemia..i took iron tablettes and now i feel better
Every thing i need to know. That’s great. Short but direct to the point. Thanks
If you are looking at the comment section go back through the video and count how many times he says tired all the time
Thank you for this. Question: just finished a marathon this past Sunday. I was going great until mile 21 when I hit the wall. However my real issue was the pain in the balls of my feet. It was excruciating. That coupled with a high heart rate caused me to pull back significantly the last four miles. Everything else was strong. I otherwise felt fabulous. Now in day for of my recovery, I feel like I’m ready to start training again. What do you think might have been happening with my feet? I strive to be a midfoot striker (no heel)
I wake up at 5 for work as a ranch hand, I am constantly tired and recently I hurt my arms and legs. So my body is killing itself tryna heal my body while I work. I’m trying hard.
I would love for you to dive deeper into circadian rhythms. I read a study in Journal Science (on mice) that fasting for 16 hours before a meal shifted their circadian rhythms and sets the next wake time to an hour or two before the meal time the next day. This is apparently why you should eat breakfast to establish your biological morning. I am usually not a breakfast eater, which could be the cause of some of my sleep issues. I would love more info on this!
Thanks Thomas:)
Let Us Discuss Why Is Everyone So Tired? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpDHxnbhny4&t=2s
Great! But what about cortisol and adrenals, toxins, and the gut microbiome?
Why do I get pains from re feeding,,, I had a salad without eggs pain salad with eggs pain what am I doin wrong,,
Hi Thomas, hope you and family keeping well. I would love to try Thrive Market products but do they ship all the way to England.
I’ve tested eating OMAD at different times for weeks now. Same foods and amounts and I can surely say eating in the morning is the only time of the day I can eat like a pig and not get tired afterwards. Lunch and dinner times knock me out for 4 hours then I’ve got tonnes of energy and need to pee and poop. Breakfast for the win. Theres a reason why people always say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, it’s not a conspiracy the powers that be have brainwashed us into believing to kill you quicker, like so many IF advocates seem to believe. It’s what works best with our circadian rhythm and is why buddisht monks (“hello” the most enlightened humans on the planet) have been doing for thousands of years.
How about aplastic anemia? so sick of Drs down playing people who are ill…
I do a 16/8 protocol and I like to break my fast at 11:00ish with a breakfast kind of meal. I have sautéed veggies with 2 or 3 eggs (in olive oil). I crash so hard I feel like I’m going to pass out. If these suggestions don’t work I’m going to stop IF.
Congratulations!!!.. You’ve found the world record holder for most uses of “tired all the time” in a single video.
Now you are saying that fats also increase insulin, so don’t they get into the cells and get stored as body fat due to the insulin spike that they create themselves? If fats also spike insulin then what’s the difference b/w getting your insulin spiked by carbs or fats? Dr Berg says that it’s all about keeping your insulin at low normal level by following keto diet, but if fats also increase insulin, then whatever he says is 100% crap, isn’t it? What’s your take on this??????
I used to exercise after work even when I was tired but when I did it I felt like not working out or exercising. So now I come home from work sleep for like 3 or 4 hours wake up and do exercise when I’m more energized.
Great video and topic! I can totally relate to the marathon training exhaustion feeling. My question is if you decide to take a recovery / down week every 3 or 4 weeks, should you only reduce mileage or should you decrease intensity too? Might it make sense to increase intensity on lower volume weeks?
Having low energy is always the worst, but fatigue is a whole other story:/ If you’re often asking yourself why youre so tired maybe drop by my channel? I made a video in the hopes of helping people find answers when they have none or when nothing is working. <3
Does anyone’s stomach just about scream now?? Once I started keto whenever I get hungry my stomach growls r like 100 times louder?? what?!
Im literally tired all the time. I got blood work done and was told I had anemia, so I was put on iron pills, which I feel didn’t do anything for my energy levels, even though I was told my iron levels had became normal.
Its starting to really effect my life tho, where I dont wanna be productive or even be social, because im so out of it.
When will you move on to the metric system america? Why would you want to work in 12s and 14s?
@ThomasDeLauer will using your previous video on a starter meal plan for keto, help avoid the issues described in this video? Like doing a 16:8 and eating as suggested, starting off
I’ve been looking at different chromium supplements at the vitamin shoppe. What is the difference between chromium picolinate and GTF chromium??
Thank u so much for your advice, today I am so tired, I haven’t done much. I didn’t wake up during the train.
Just finished a 36 hour fast at noon and i haven’t moved from the couch in 6 hours after eating..
I fast until 9 a.m. so I can have breakfast. I usually eat eggs or egg whites. Is this ok or do eggs contribute to tiredness?
I was so tired as i worked 7 hour shift standing but still went to the gym, u motivated me thanku!!
Allergies can also make you feel very tired! I wear a mask outside to prevent breathing more pollen and it doesn’t 100% prevent pollen entering (gets on your clothes), but it helps a lot.
Maybe he looks tired because he actually is. I’m sure it’s legit. Long night who knows, but most people are here because they got a good nights sleep and still feel fatigued which is completely different.
Instead of chicken, is protein shake considered lean protein?
I am tired af for some reason today… I’m going to the gym anyway.
Do you recommend “predictor” races like a half marathon 4-5 weeks before a marathon? Some say yes as you can predict finish time better, others say no as you may run a poor time and just was a bad day. I think it provides me with some race mentality prior to the marathon and also good practice on pacing/fueling/hydration (to a point).
Dear @Dr Joel Rosen’s Adrenal Fix,
Thank you for this. I have a question though. My main problem is the metabolism. I am mostly in fight/flight or actually often freeze mode. I read you need to exercise a bit to lern your body to get out of it. A tiny bit of exercise leaves me bedridden hoewever. What is your advice to handle this? I try meditation and moving a little. Feel drained.
I am very tired all day everyday. I work a physical demanding job and get 5-7hour of sleep a night. I’m 26 and feel like I’m 80 years old. It take me a lot longer to do things like just going up the stairs.
I just kinda stopped going to the gym because as soon as I get home, I have to take a nap
even watching ur vedio making me low mood and sleepy… can you talk a little more energetic and loud and intresting please?!
clicked on the video TIREEEEED AAAAALLLL THEEEEEE TIMEEEEEEEE SSLEEEEEP MYYY MEENIONSSSS SLEEEP….. GOOD NIGHT.
Is this thing temporary or a permanent occurrence in OMAD? Because if it’s permanent, I think I need to change my eating window. I really want to eat during lunch but I can’t afford to be sleepy after eating since I’m a teacher. I want to know your opinion so I can adjust while school isn’t starting yet. Thank you so much ❤️
I work 14hrs a day unloading a 120° shipping container, completely groggy after I clock out and still manage to find time to go to the gym. (No Excuses) make a strong goal plan and fight for it..
ok I am getting mixed info…does a slice or two of lemon AND ACV in a LARGE water break your fast? I am doing 16/8, thank you!
So I’m 3 weeks out from a marathon. Unfortunately I tore my hammy doing a speed s session 9 days ago. Have only managed 3 runs since then and can’t get more that 4km without feeling it start to go. Clearly I need more time but at what point do I throw in the towel and pull out, because I’m not getting the k’s in?
Thanks for another great video, ladies. Some really good advice, much appreciated
If I eat in the morning, how many hours would have to pass before I worked out for it to be in a Fasted State?
Usually feel fatigued the day after a workout. And as Leroy Colbert put it, it’s your body telling you it needs to rest and heal. Listen to your body and recover. You will have a great workout the next day.
Literally woke up from a 5hour nap to watch this and still tired hahahah lololol
Can you do a video on when to use a fat burner please. I use thermoshred from X50. It’s green tea based. I’m not sure when to take it. During my fast, break my fast with it or start my fast with it.
Thanks
Eat dates first & minerals waters. That what we do during Ramadhan.
I’m so mad. I have tried to eat healthier, sleep more and exercice but I’m still sleepy all the time. So annoying. I want to do things without being tired.
Thomas what do you know about reseting caffeine tolerance?
Would be a good video for people who have consumed caffeine habitually.
Thanks for the great content
i don’t agree with you suppose this scenario, night before i worked until 3 AM and woke at 8:00 AM and work again for 10 hours, in 48 hours i sleep only 5 hours so your body will be exhausted and you will not be able to do anything, your brain will prevent you to go to gym because losing power mean you might accidentally hurt yourself, but skip this day then compensate it with hard workout next day
Nice video content! Sorry for butting in, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you tried Parlandealey Active Life Process (probably on Google)? It is a smashing exclusive product for learning how to stop feeling tired minus the headache. Ive heard some great things about it and my friend Sam at very last got amazing success with it.
Just wonderful, been searching for “overcome chronic fatigue syndrome” for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across Qiyia Ziyichael Booster (just google it )? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my neighbour got amazing success with it.
Thank you for your excellent videos. I feel like if I “listen to my body” I would never run… Check out my first-time London Marathon comedy vlog! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gj_ydarEbXM&t=1s
Just a quick question that may be totally unrelated to the actual video:
I recently watched a video of yours where you explained that you shouldn’t eat fats + carbs together, and was wondering if this would disqualify avocado on toast (the ezekiel brand specifically) as a meal. I know this may look like an easy answer-of course it would be disqualified, since toast is carbs and avocado is fats-but wouldn’t this contradict all the health claims that this quick meal is a great and nutritious way to fuel your body? Or are these just fabricated statements conjured up by a couple of home-made health-gurus? Thanks to anyone who replies, and your videos are awesome Thomas!
i’ve never had this happen to me but my fiancee struggles with this really bad. Thanks for the info. this will really help.
Cheers for the Video clip! Excuse me for chiming in, I would love your opinion. Have you thought about Dinanlinson Rebooting Health Approach (search on google)? It is an awesome one of a kind guide for getting rid of chronic fatigue syndrome minus the hard work. Ive heard some great things about it and my friend after a lifetime of fighting got astronomical results with it.
I get fatigued most of the time that I have trouble speaking loudly and clearly.
Just want to toss in 2 cents. If you are not sleeping that good 7-8 hours. Your down to 4-6 you. Heart beats at a high rate when your trying to sleep. Stressed. Your very likely over training. Rest it up
I really like what you do here on this channel but I have to say that I am surprised that you didn’t mention the role of quality nutrition for proper recovery. What we put into our body before, during and after a workout can go a really long to making us feel better. Most runners don’t adequately refuel after a run and this increases the likelihood of feeling run down and can lead to illness or injury. What are your thoughts on fueling your recovery? keep up the great work.
Cross training is another option. Its easier to go for a short and easy swim some days than to attempt to run. Its not what you planned but its worth something
Thanks again, Thomas. I admit while the video was interesting the thing that brought me here was the photo of you sleeping in a plate of food. Very funny:)
Crazy, I always thought it was because of the day or something. Gonna give it a go!!!
Well on the whole training training is important with motivation
Just turned 50 and been feeling tired for about 6 months. Is this it. Is this life from here on out. It’s depressing, I was ALWAYS a get up go do it now kind of guy. Did I get burnt out? Is there a way to fix this? My mind wants to do many things but my body is like ohh heck no, 30 more minutes rest which turns into a days time lost. Uugghh… just coming into spring now so I’m hoping this feeling will end SOON. I keep taking organic multi vitamin and B complex and vitamin D but still feel tired. Any suggestions from anyone.
Well lift heavy..ok guy listen to this i get a better lift when i do 16/8 fast i eat big macs then 20 mins later i work out i feel strong while i burn the food off only the days i lift
Jumping out of bed to do my workout ️♀️ thank u for the motivation
I haven’t worked out for 2 days due to lack of sleep, (I may have a sleep disorder and getting checked out soon) and the reason I didn’t train is, because I felt mentally exhausted. It felt like I couldn’t do anything because my body wanted to just shut down and I ended up sleeping through the afternoon. It’s 2am now, and I’m going to workout because I’m not going to be able to sleep. Any advice on this? Please help
Thomas,
For carb eaters, would you say that we too could break a fast with lean protein in preparation for higher carb or fat meals later?
Excellent video content! Forgive me for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you researched Parlandealey Active Life Process (should be on google have a look)? It is a great one of a kind product for learning how to stop feeling tired minus the headache. Ive heard some decent things about it and my BF at last got great results with it.
Im vegan so I break my fast with avocado and flaxseeds with chic peas and a kale salad with a grape fruit. Soon after Im fighting to stay awake. smh
Great. Eat the meal and go straight to sleep. Carbs have tryptophan which help me go to sleep. Correct me if i’m wrong.
I just got done eating on OMAD. I had strawberries, 3 eggs with feta cheese, pork, almonds, and apples with natural pb. Is this good for OMAD?
I worked out like a boss yesterday, max heart rate 195. Today I’m wrecked.
Just what I needed. Laying in bed after a fast break.. And this video came just a few days ago. Wow!
This dude looks like he prescribes weed to patience while stoned.
Mike meutzle said you are insulin resistant, not sensitive? After fasting
Game time:
Slap your nuts everytime he says “tired all the time”
What is your opinion on the 30% rule regarding long runs? The idea that your long run should be no longer than 30% of weekly mileage. I’ve heard many people who have run the marathon preach that you need to run 20 miles at least a couple times before your first attempt. Thoughts?
Im a massage thrrapist, working on the floor, matts, so always engaging my legs, back, beck.. i started Hiit, did 4 times while no work, my body felt do happy, no pain even if i was saying bad words while training..
3days back, had to do 6 massages.. im still sore in legs, glutes, back.. wanted to do a 7 min workiut, but end up stretching..
46 years old.. Should i push to train more the days like today when only 1 client, but sore?
if u are on a keto u dont need to fast. But us who loves carbs need to fast dor weight loss
Fatigues are ma biggest problem i often find fatigues at the morning…i doint know why its produce in my body during night…
This video answered a bunch of questions I had from your other videos. Thanks!
so will this diet make me hypoglycemic or diabetic with the spiking of blood sugar?
That thumbnail is hilarious I always feel the best fasting. Thank you for the explanation.
I going for 10k run in one month time, being training steadily, my plan is joining for another few 10k and then gradually joining 21k, and maybe joining a marathon by Aug 2020, is this a good plan as my objective is to train and up for higher and longer run?
I fast minimum 3 days every week. But am I the only one who has never experienced this ‘sleepiness’?
I feel so tired every day and sleepy why? Could it be my diabetics or hypertension?
My chest burning and I just started if u want me to give u the links of which workouts I’m doing I will. I’m tired already and it’s my first day. (17 btw)
Hello guys. Drinking tea or coffee after your meal will aid in digestion and wake you up.
I like excersising really early before I ate anything and nothing goes wrong with my body. I can be working out for many times before I eat and it is high intensity kinda stuff. I haven’t fainted from that or gone dizzy. I think the heart get’s stronger after a while.
Hi Thomas… So… Your “sandwich” idea of Fat meal first, after protein meal, and after fat meal that you talk is not good???
I get soooooo tired when intermittent fasting even on keto:((((
just tell us how to count on fats for explosive energy instead of going down with carbs
