My family is really poor we live in a small house with all 6 of us the food my parents buy is so bad everything is so unhealthy I have done 200 pushups a day for a month straight and my body is the same like in looks but I can say I gained strength allot actually but i still look bad my parents say it’s to expensive to eat healthy im almost ready to give up until I move

I think I’m eating pretty much all the right shit. The problem is I can’t plan out my meals as I would like because of my schedule. Working+school is killing my training and my diet. I don’t eat enough period. I don’t keep track of what I eat. I don’t have the time. I’ve changed a little bit over about 3 years but not all that much. Enough to keep me going but shit got hard when I got into college and working.
I never cared about body building I like martial arts but I cant train either one because of injured legs already for five years. I do calistenics but I get disapointed cause I want to train much harder… but I love the wow coment I bet a beer you got that from Max, its ok I also use it to wok harder:)

I’m plantbase.. I’ve just ordered a load of vegan protein powder. I literally eat fruit and veg that’s it loads if potatoes and rice. I do drink 4 litres of water a day sometimes more. And I’m on about 1800 calories a day?? I train 6 days a week with weights.. Does this sound OK. I don’t have a plan when I workout I just do what I think on the day because I don’t really know exactly what I’m doing I’m still learning

Im chronically ill, I have weak muscles so every workout is hard for me eventho I do very light weight and I have to be careful cause I don’t know how my body will perform and react after I’m done with gym day. Great video! I injured my right shoulder playing tennis about a year ago. I waited to see if it would just get better on it’s own and of course it did not. I got an xray from an orthopedic surgeon and he diagnosed me with an impingement of the rotator cuff. I went to physical therapy and it actually felt worse and I could hear and feel a crunching sensation that was very unpleasant. I still have that. Can these exercises you demonstrate help that problem and will it eventually make the impingement correct itself so I can play tennis again?
It’s forsure all about your diet! I learned that the hard way. You can work out all day if you want but if you don’t put in good foods all day your just gonna wake up the next day and not feel any gain. I hate having a good diet but gotta do what cha gotta do

Brandon made a video a few years back about how he uses a portion method to track his diet and I have had a lot of success using Ideas from that clip. I still have quite a way to go to get where I ultimately want to with my physique but improving my sense of how much energy I am burning on any given day and adjusting the amount I eat based on that using the portion method is skill that has served me well. Just as one strives to get stronger in the gym one must also strive to become stronger in their understanding and application of their diet. Big fan of Big Brandon, and his continued good advice.

I need some advice if anyone can help me.. my goals are to lose some fat, reduce as much as possible my saddlebags (I think that has to do with cellulite even if I can’t see much of it), tone my legs and ecpecially LIFT my butt. I’m in my average weight range but I’d like to lose some because I basically only store it in my lower body so that makes me look very unproportionate. My questions are: how many calories should I be eating a day considering that I’m not very active since I’m a student? Is working out at home gonna be enough? I’ve been working out at home with a 4,5kg paint can as a weight and resistance bands and I’ve been eating around 1100 kcals a day but a bit of a cheat day (around 3000 kcals on sundays ) for more than two months but I’m not really seeing results, expecially in my butt. I apologize for the lenght of my comment, but I would really appreciate if someone could help me

Can you please do one related to your video “One Of The Worst Diet Mistakes Almost Everyone Makes?” In that video you mentioned how people can fall into am empathy gap where they go 110% for a period of time before they burn out and then gain the weight back. However, I remember you mentioning that you crash dieted down and managed to ‘claw your way out’ and maintain it. Since it is such a common mistake, myself included and that’s where I’ve landed at the moment. Could you do a video giving advice/tips on how to keep yourself sane after an aggressive diet and how to actually fight your way into maintaining what you’ve gotten too without putting all the fat back on again? Hope that question makes sense. Keep it up!

I dont know for other people but every time I stop training for a longer period and them get back into bodybuilding I see results in a month or two, but little result mostly in shoulders and pecs, maybe just my genetics.

I noticed visceral fat drops more than subcut fat sometimes. Visceral fat is part of the loss.
At the beginning of my journey I created my plan. Then after one month I used progressive overload to get stronger instead of adding weight when I could do more than 12 reps on an exercice. Then I added 2 days of cardio for recovery. Then I created an excel file to track my workout. Then added a macro calculator, 1 RM calculator and a few other tools and advice in my excel sheet. I replaced cardio by HIIT cardio kept it because of amazing result.
I know that I’m not completely ok with my recovery but I’m working on it (I’m tracking my day to day sleep and activity on my phone since July).
I’m only 1 year old in fitness and I’ve already built near as much muscle as Mario but with 5 kg of bodyfat to cut. I’m currently cutting to see the “final” result (result for year one). I guess that after the cut, I will have to change my sentence about been as muscular as Mario but for now on, I will keep it in this message. 😉

I struggle because I’m constantly bloated. I tried going to my doctors and despite dairy intolerant and haven’t consumed it for the last two years (thank god I’m not because of how my body reacted to it…), however I still think there is something wrong with my gut health because of my constant bloat and stomach pains. I am very eager to improve my bilateral shoulder pain. The doorway stretch is very painful when I do the midway stretch. The lower and upper doorway stretches are not as painful. Should I keep pushing the midway stretch? Will the pain decrease over time as I get more loose and my posture improves? I would love your feedback. I’m in my mid 40’s and started gym a couple months ago…It’s more important to me that i’m still going to the gym in my mid 50’s and mid 60, and mid 70’s than how quickly i look ripped….It’s a lifestyle.
No Nutritionist or Dietitian would place a client on just a low calorie diet to help them lose weight. Literally human nutrition is all we go too school for and we will know more about someone’s nutrition and health plan then simply placing them on a low calorie diet. It is amazing how many fitness people think they are Nutritionist.

Actually, tracking your weight is not accurate that much. In my case it keeps fluctuating; lets take for example you gain muscle mass but lost fat, then the body weight is not a good indicative of your physique(Same goes for BMI). The best method in my opinion to see result is to measure waistline, ass, chest etc. Those numbers do matter.
Body fat percentage as well is a great way to track results.
Then if its killing people why government let companies to produce it… Simple

I’ve read about 60% of the progress comes from the diet. But I think you just put the bar a lot higher than that.

I did MRI on my shoulder and the result was that the.rotator cuff was torn. The orthopedic doctor wanted to do surgery but I am hesitant in doing it. I have decided to do exercise for the shoulder for two to three months and see how it goes. Thanks for sharing those exercises for the shoulder.

Ive lost over 60 lbs total so far. went from 235 to 175….. now im back up to 185 and muscular. got great strength gains. i work out 4x a week with cardio in there. when i started i couldnt do a pull up. now i bang out 8 in a row in my sets. strength happens in the mind first i learned

Pt at doctors office is doing the band exercises, but from my injury, it seems that the doorway exercises to get posture right would be best warmup for band exercises. I had to cancel two weeks because of possible COVID exposure, thank GOD test came back negative in 4 days, and persons sore throat and other symptoms are gone and will resume PT ASAP. Ive always had “skinny” legs because I was a dancer, and 7 months ago I started going to TRX classes 5 times a week and I started eating healthier. My problem is that ive noticed that the upper part of my inner thighs started to grow, very quickly. At first they told me that it was muscle but it really doesnt look like it. It feels uncomfortable because my thighs never touched when I closed my legs and now they do.
Ive noticed that everytime i do squats (any type of squat), lunges (any type of lunge) and stuff like that the upper part of my inner thighs gets bigger, and its not muscle, i know its not muscle, and i eat healthy i dont understand. the worst thing is that im not noticing any difference in my glutes. please help

Like some people have inner thigh fat or muscle but still have like a little space in the upper part of their inner thighs, thats the part that im talking about. i put a bikini on and it just looks bad, i never had it

This was really great advice to hear. Like you say I’ve heard from certain places that I should see big gains after a few months and after working out for two months increasing at a good pace I’m not seeing too much change and was starting to wonder if it was working. The good thing is I can already see that things are changing in my physique so I know that I should continue doing what I’m doing. Clothes are a great indicator and they already look better on me. Low resistance/assistance version (no band) is lying to the side of your body you are pulling away from and resting your elbow on the side and just lifting a liter of liquid using mainly your shoulder with a fixed wrist position

Low resistance/assistance method (no band) is a little more technical for this exercise. On a normal on your back sleeping position, lift a liter of liquid from an open arm position toward your chest, closing it. The technical part is how open your initial open position is. In normal comfort circumstance its usually 120-150 degrees and not 180 degress. For this exercise specifically, i recommend you follow the DPT’s advice and use a band if you are new to the gym or exercise in general.

VAPING IS NOT HEALTHY. Air is and always be the healthiest option when it comes to breathing something into your lungs. But when it comes to vaping vs smoking, vaping is way way way waaaaaaaay healthier. We’ve all seen/heard what’s in cigarettes, stuff that’s used for rat poison, stuff used in pesticides blah blah blah. More than 7000 chemicals when you smoke one, at least 69 are KNOWN to cause cancer with most of the rest being straight up toxic. And then you have the vape…Vegetable Glycerin and/or Propylene Glycol and usually a flavouring. The worst thing is the nicotine which is freaking optional! The nastiest thing included in vape juice is an option, second nastiest is the flavourings (also optional). So if we’re counting the ingredients there’s approximately 600 in your standard cigarette and approximately 4 in your standard e-juice. Vaping is not healthy, it’s simply healthier than smoking. This is just my opinion of course.

I’ve been going for about 4-5 months now and I noticed that my chest is getting closer and my arms have gotten bigger. So many people have told me I look thinner and they tell me my arms are big and some of my t shirts barely fit me that just fit me right beforehand. That’s how I noticed. I feel more confident about taking my shirt off now. I used to never take my shirt off. I know I won’t see the results I truly want until the about a year since I started. But that’s my goal. 6-9-12 months should do it for me. But don’t give up. That’s the most important thing. Be consistent.

I Look at it like this. They say 2 hard years of training hard and you can be in the best shape of your life. Now you may say ” 2 years!? Fuck that i want this shit in 6 months!”. Its not happening. Now instead of saying fuck it entirely, just remember those 2 years will go by ragardless of what you do. Whether you go back to eating shit or you go back to being average. And when that day comes your either gonna be where u wanted to be or still be stuck where you were to begin with. You owe it to yourself resemble these guys. You just have to find a spark of motivation that gets you in the gym everyday. mine was a breakup. i went from 202 lbs to 169. In 4 months. one day at a time. i did 30 day result updates and noticed the differences. The reason i keep going is because i see results! I vape occasionally with nicotine based salt liquids for my vape, and you can’t even get a nicotine high off it because of how low the nicotine content is.
Not to mention, non nicotine based liquids are even less harmful.

I hate yoga my sister always tries to make me go and i honestly think it’s not for me so I don’t do it. She hates weights so she hasn’t touched them. We have different likes dislikes and goals but are still very fit. The health thing is huge. My best friend suffered from an eating disorder of starving herself Bc she wasn’t losing weight and got bullied at school when really she just had a thyroid problem and lost 100 pounds in a year just by taking the medication. No one ever talks about that and I feel like an underlying issue is often a problem of not seeing results

Hi Brandon, just a quick question if you don’t mind. I’m a 46 year old man who until 5 years ago was what I consider to be quite fit. I trained 6 days a week, mainly cardio which included long runs as well as HIIT every day. Unfortunately an operation on my back and the subsequent recovery has meant I haven’t been able to train since and I’ve put on a lot of weight through really bad diet and lack of exercise. I’ve recently been given the all clear from the doctor to do some training. He of course has told me to take it easy but that’s not in my nature, so I’ve been going hard at it for the past 4 weeks and have managed to drop 35 pounds in that time. This has brought me down to 217 pounds. I now need to get another 50 pounds off to get back to what I consider to be my fighting weight. The thing is, obviously due to a long lay off, and now being 46 I’m finding it harder to shift the fat. Maybe I’m just being too tough on myself I don’t know, but that’s just how I feel. So here is my question. What do you think the chances are of someone my age losing so much weight and getting to a stage where they’re ripped? I don’t want to kill myself in the gym if it’s just not going to be possible due to a natural slowing down process that comes with age. I mean, I won’t give up on training, I just want to have realistic goals so as not to be too dissappointed with the outcome. Thanks in advance, Mark. PS great videos

I highly recommend keeping a log of everything you do I drive for a living in the us the dot dot of transportation requires us to do a log for the hours that we work,airline pilots same thing,keeping a log is a must same thing with you diet,same with weighing food do it so you can learn portion sizes after a while you learn,i been losing fat and weight at 1 pound per week lost 8 lbs in the last 4 weeks I wasn’t even trying so I’m keeping it same I have very little to go 8 more pounds here is what I learned,is easier to eat whole natural foods then a mix of clean and junk foods you can eat more calories that way that’s what I prefer my macros are 250 p,225 carbs,56 fat,but here is the amazing thing 150 of these calories come from tomatoes,spinich,mushrooms,and I buy the frozen normady blend veggies I eat 4 servings of those so it’s more then 150 calories like 200 so even tho greens and veggies have calories the body doesn’t really count them you can’t gain weight eating that si 2400 calories is more like 2200 but I’m still getting the nutrient’s from this foods at the same time I’m not all that hungry I still get hungry just not all that much,and if you track you food one thing I do sometimes,i work nights so sometimes I go to bed past my bedtime like this morning was 6 am and I had 2 workouts sat,sunday 12 hours apart,so I was very hungry in the morning what I did is I had 75%of the breakfast I was going to have when I usually wake and had the other 25% after if you track you food and make meal plans you can do stuff like this,it works very well for me,Mario has some really great advice and to me keeping a log that is the key of getting results.

Mate I can tell you first hand. Smoked for 20 years cigarettes right then one day dizzy spells and feeling real weird. Ok so quit cigarettes by going to vaping. Only way I could. Found just giving up horrendously difficult. Probably for the most part of 20 years I had wanted to quit. So then the weird spells of dizziness and crap reappeared and I found myself ill. Yep got something. Now was it because of alcohol poisoning in Poland on their home made vodka. Or having to endure 18 hour’s in a car alongside an Italian. Who knows. Both not good for your health I can assure you.
Anyway so no sleep without nightmares every night. Tired spells. Yawning and no way to stop. Flustered. Anxious. Too many bad feelings to be honest.
So I gave up vaping by throwing the thing out my window one day.
Can honestly say this. Since I have not vaped for 2 weeks, already within my body I can immediately tell the difference. No pain in my centre back anymore. Sleeps much better. Clearer thought. So whether my insides were ruined from clubbing and taking estacy in my twenties. Or Poland’s vodka being hung over for 3 days to the savage point of feeling suicidal had ruined my insides. Who knows. Maybe those ruined insides enough so they can battle any foreign bodies. Foreign chemicals. Maybe those and vaping seriously bad. Or maybe just vaping.
All I can say is now, life’s so much better. So to anyone who wants to quit wondering if they will feel better. Trust me you will. Might take a few weeks, and you’ll feel withdrawal symptoms, but worth it.

Many people Mario, are seriously afraid to face the truth no matter what that is. There was a time when that was my issue. It was like if I would ignore it, the illusion that maybe the problem would go away by itself or whatever would kick in. The trouble with that, is that the problem would never get resolved. I couldn’t get on a scale for a long time, nor would I look in the mirror full on. Finally the fight in me came alive and I began to ask myself some really serious questions such as if I really wanted to stay like this for the rest of my life. The fear of becoming sick and decreasing my life span became worse than the fear of confronting my reality. Now I will do everything it takes to get healthy and strong and to stay that way. I’m not a Scientist but I read an interesting book by a Scientist that may explain the reason why people don’t see results after an exercise or any other health habit they do. The reason is many people are not in sync with their cycadian rythm when they do they daily activities including sleep, diet, study, work, etc. Author of “the power of when” divides people into four mamal groups based on their bioligical clocks. So if you find your peak time or when you are most active or productive( the above book helps though you don’t need to do everything it says) and follow it like a ritual, then you will see results, exceptional results.

I used a macro calculator it told me to eat 3420 calories a day and that dosnt seem right to loose weight
The thing I slacked was counting calories. everything was on point but I wasn’t counting calories then when I started counting calories, the results were phenomenal and I’ve already stared intermittent fasting which has helped me in my fitness journey tremendously. Awesome Vid Mario:)

Hi Mario, i started tracking my calories and macros two weeks ago, and i have a little problem. I looked on the numbers on Myfitnesspal and on ifcalc, and they both told me pretty much the same amount around 2200 calories to lose weight ( 10 % deficit i think ), but i can hardly get to 2000, i feel full and not hungry at all when im around 1800 calories in the night, i dont know what to do? Can such huge deficit hurt me? Maybe its because ive never eaten so much protein per day in my entire life, so i dont feel hungry. Thank you for the advice:-)

Now I’m 27 and after being traumatized I finally got back in the gym and my shoulder pain came back. Only when working out. I can’t even finish no upper body. I deal with this every single time I train. Just hoping one day I find answers.
No doctor can help me, droven hours and hours away. It’s not only that I had an accident where I couldn’t walk for weeks….so my back and knee acts up. I still manage to train my clients in pain. Just hopefully someone helps me.

The diet is literally the hardest thing to change, If all you had to do was bust your ass at the gym two hours a day 5 days a week and get the protein supplements in, most of the people I know would be jacked.

i am tracking my calories since 100 days, i write down my waight around every week since 9.6.16 added my body fat (measured with calpiers) at the 26.6.16, i tracked my lift since the beginning a year ago. blah blah blah i am a very small dude (170cm, 60kg after a year of training. very small wrist 16cm and ankles 23cm) and i was bulking at 2600 calories. i thought thats enoughf for a guy my size but thanks to the numbers i realized that i have to go higher in calories to progress! now i try to eat up to 3k calories every day. still affraid to get fat though:D thank you mario you are a very big help on my path to unleashing my potential!

This video isnt explicit in mentioning if this is for fat loss or muscle gain or both, but in anycase diet can be a factor, however, assuming diet is consistent among responder and non-responder, I think I get the difference:
I’ll tell you why, it is because some people are slacking in the exercise, I know, I see it in front of me when I joined some circuits, some people do it properly some just slack throught the workout. See at 0:49 its clear, when you put someone on a bike you actually quantify the work they are doing. Then, if they are doing it properly they might be eating crap afterwards (may be too much calories or not enough calories, depending in goals)

once I started tracking how often I get distracted, exactly how far I am in finishing a project etc, it shows you how its nearly impossible to be objective by yourself without an objective measurement tool. some guy I was trying to help advise on the squats had good depth but a bad case of knee caving in at 120-140 kg.
When I told him, he said “yeah its because I hurt my ACL and MCL years ago, totally fucked them up”. it was so obvious that story, while objectively not justifying the form breakdown, and instead justifying a deload in weight, became part of an unquestioned assumption of why the knees caving in was totally acceptable. If you had an mcl tear, knees caving inwards is at the very least not going to help and probably going to further damage them. Unless there’s an objective MRI scan saying “the MCL tear has gotten worse” and an understanding of the mechanics of the squat, this dude is never going to be convinced that knees caving in is NOT a normal consequence of being injured, because the mind can always make up a story that justifies how we are being objective. this is the type of shit that keeps me up at night
i have a question mario, i don’t have very much time. i’m thinking of training one muscle per training session, three times a week, so 2 week for a full bodytraining, if if take the muscle to failler in every exercise, will i see muscle growth or not, will i grow the same but slower or not?

That happened to me. Horrific, debilitating pain for five years until something snapped in the middle of the night. Then my arm was painfully useless for over three weeks. I did turn the corner gradually and have never had a problem since. I called it a miracle.
Iv’e had shoulder pain for about six months now, the result of some extreme burpee exercises. I was convinced I’d need surgery. So your video popped up, I paused and did the exercises minus the stretch rope for about 10 minutes. Previously, when I would reached up at tip toe for an item, I would come down with shoulder agony.
There’s NO WAY I believe what has happened in 10 minutes, NO WAY. A little discomfort remains, but the agony has gone, and there I was thinking I’m just marking time till I can afford the surgery. Words can’t describe how I feel. I am now subscribed, and I’m paying attention. THANKS A MILLION.

That’s why most group fitness instructors in the gyms of America are chubby! Anyone else notice this? It’s their frickin’ job to be working out multiple days of the week with you, sometimes 2 sessions in one day, and yet most of them have more body fat than me and I miss the gym a week or two at a time. I’m not saying I’m ideal, but I definitely have less body fat than most of them do by simply maintaining a very decent and healthy diet whether I’m just lounging around at home or on a vacation.

There is this idea that fitness is going to somehow renew you. I feel my muscles being bigger to the touch, but when I look in the mirror, I see the same chick that I saw 6 months ago. I know I push myself as hard as I can 4-6 days a week and it still seems pointless to me. I know that my expectations are unrealistic, but I can’t always help being disappointed. I don’t really feel motivated to keep going, yet I have one and only one reason not to quit, and that is no matter how far my goals feel, how my habits might never get me there, I know that giving up the good habits definitely won’t. I realize that by continuing, I don’t have anything to lose, but with not continuing, I would lose the possibility.

Speaking as a dietitian, no dietitian would put someone with a weight loss goal on a meal plan with a drastic calorie cut. We preach and believe in sustainable changes and a huge calorie cut is not sustainable…as you said.
Now a nutritionist might do that, since anyone can be a nutritionist and nutritionists don’t always know what they are doing. It takes a lot more to become a dietitian versus a nutritionist. I encourage anyone to seek out the help of a dietitian. We love helping and working with people who want to make changes.

I was always skinny, and when I was 73kg at 6ft, the shirts were somewhat ok… I was athletic. Then I was 58kg, and look like shit and gained fat, just a little bit, enough to cover my abs and enough for me to not be able to take the fat down with my hand.

In 6months you can see good results, in 12months some more.
But for me 1-2years is short. 85kg for me would be perfect, my own prefference. That is like I don’t know 20kg of muscle from where I’m now, or less.
So even just 10kg would be good. But 10kg is a lot actually.
I suppose after just a year to 2 years you can look a lot better.

Pain maybe do to fibromyalgia. Prednisone will help. I tried all types of exercise and Physiotherapy and eventually I went to a Rheumatologist.

I started the stronglifts 5×5 program but Idk if I should be in a calorie surplus, deficit or maintenance. I’m 165lb and 5’8”

I do that! I sike myself out a ton! Scared to get to big or eat to much! This has inspired me to push past it! It’s mostly diet not being dialed in also! Help I’m no man’s land need some subs, likes etc!! Just liked this and also I’ve been subbed for a long time!
im having problems with my diet but im on it to change it..i need the caloric surplus to gain muscle but i cant eat that much and i hate suplements. I need 3200 calories to gain weight but im only getting about 2800 and sometimes 3200..
