Athletes adopt their parents’ goal of obtaining a college scholarship. Young athletes who started sports for the right reasons are now given a different goal. Once again, this leads to more pressure to excel and be perfect as an athlete. Being identified as a top athlete in sports today carries a level of social status for some families.
Whether it’s through meeting new people as rec league teammates, bringing family and friends together to play a pickup game, or using your athletic performance tracker to connect with an online community, sports can be a building block for healthy, long-lasting relationships.Top athletes typically have teams of coaches, sports scientists, nutritionists, physiotherapists and psychologists working with them around the clock, but at times a simple hug or words of support from mum or dad are invaluable to the athlete. Being an Olympic parent is not an easy job.
Aside from the obvious financial and logistical support it’s important to know when to step in and offer emotional.Having peers’ participation in sport is a key determinant of a child’s involvement and presents significant mental health benefits, with research suggesting that extracurricular activities, like sport, are most beneficial when young people participate with members.You share the same passion and drive for your sport, with these traits you never run out of things to talk about.

Learn more about the importance of having this supportive network and how you can maintain and build one.Money may not be able to buy happiness, but profitable business relationships can, in certain situations, breed friendships among athletes and other individuals who work in the sports world. With that said, an absence of profits and cash flow can lead to a friendship disappearing even quicker than it was formed.
Your social support system is a network of people you trust and look to for guidance. Our immediate support networks often include our family and friends, but students can also look to their classmates, professors and advisors for additional help.. College is the.Find Support Elsewhere. When close friends and family can’t offer you what you need, it can be helpful to seek out people who can. Depression support groups, either in person or online, can be a great place to look. Although people in support groups may start out as strangers to you, fast friendships are often formed because you share.
Research shows that family and friends, the informal support network, are those most often approached when support is needed. When you talk with someone you trust, the burdens seem lighter and the problems seem less of a concern. Your family and friends cannot help fix the problems, nor should they even if they could.

Just want people to know some details about game changers that I recently found out. The Tennessee titans players are on an 80% plant based diet and 20% comes from animal products. McGregor also beat Nate diaz in the rematch which they fail to mention as well. I actually watched the vegan lifter live at the Olympics and he preformed very poorly compared to his other competitors. Genetics, changes in training, and other recovery products such as cbd are also not mentioned as a reason for athletes having increased recovery times. The UFC is the first organization to allow athletes to test positive for cannabinoids.Thc combined with CBD increases the effect of CBD which is amazing for recovery. I think a primarily plant based diet will always be superior and you can definitely gain muscle and perform well on a plant based diet 100% but the documentary skips a lot of factors and they did lie unfortunately.
The film has been debunked by vegans. So how can people trust this, if vegans are going against what the movie says?

Talking about travel though, I just want to say one of my favorite bits about being vegan and traveling (especially around Europe) is many vegan restaurants are off the beaten path. In neighborhoods tourists don’t go. They are often small, family owned, cozy and delicious, hidden gems. And it’s local food veganized. I never felt like I was missing out.

I’ve been working every day of my life since I was 15. Whilst others in my age and surroundings were out partying, drinking and sleeping around, I was at home learning everything from economics to politics, history to geography, how to start investing money and so on. I learned more on my own hand than what school was teaching me. I saved up all the little money I was making at a young age, and I was carefully investing it and started seriously understanding the stock markets and investments. Whilst others looked up to Muhammed Ali and 2Pac, I was reading about the life of Andrew Carnegie and John D Rockefeller. They always doubted me. People never expected much from me. They said I’m chasing a nonexistent future, and that I was living in a dream. It wasn’t only the success of wealth I was fighting for, I was also fighting for a better health. When I was younger I was very big, at age 13 I was weighing around 220 lbs. I had stretch marks on my back and arms, which seriously lowered my self esteem. I was in a really bad shape and couldn’t run more than a few feet before I would gasp for air. I luckily was never bullied, quite the opposite, which I’m really grateful for. But I fought every single day since an early age to make something out of myself, I pretty much lost a normal childhood. But, it eventually payed off. Today, I have everything I’ve ever wanted. I’ve traveled all over the world, I have a very high paying job and I make extra through investments and trade, I’m in a very good shape and I work out at least 5 times a week intensively, and I go out running every single day. I have what’s left of my stretch marks to remind me of my achievement on health, and I have my memories to remind me of my overall success. Don’t ever think that you’re less worth than anyone else because the way you look or what you were born in to. You have to show dedication towards your dreams to make them a reality, even if that means loosing something you can’t get back. Never stop believing in yourself and what you can achieve, because if you don’t believe in yourself, who will ever do.

What are your thoughts on flax seed and soy products for women that have increased risk for estrogen driven breast cancer. My sister has stage 1 and it was estrogen progesterone based so she no longer eats soy or flax. Yet I read things saying that those foods actually have micronutrients that prevent breast cancer where as others say to avoid it all together

From a young age I have always wanted to be a large and small animal vet. Most people assumed I would grow out of it by the time I reached the end of elementary school. But I didn’t. I am a horrible test taker though my grades prove much my tests are good but to them not good enough. A assistant principal told me parents to take me out of advanced classes just because of ONE test. The school didn’t believe in me. They told her that I wanted to go to STEM.She didn’t believe that I would do that either. Well I decided myself to stay in advanced things. It’s May 7th 2020 and I just got news, my application from STEM was accepted (only a 100 people out of half of the state get in) and I passed all my advanced classes way above average. So if a school tells you that you can’t do something use that drive and passion to prove them wrong. I believed the whole way through that I was going to prove them wrong and I did. I was once told the key to success is self discipline but I’ve learned you also need drive and passion. Anyway I hope this shows someone that the impossible is possible. I have anaphylactic reactions. Having to avoid all those plus eggs (another allergy) and gluten (celiac disease and eat low carb (thyroid disease)… Those of us with extreme allergies dont have a choice but to eat the few things we can.

Food can be made with love, and ice cream is delicious, but if milk is the result of the abuse of defenseless beings (it is), the love put into making those meals or the enjoyment of consuming them doesn’t justify it. Also, for what it’s worth, dairy is also horrific for the environment.
That said, I fully appreciate you giving this a shot and being open to taking the small steps. Every little bit counts!

For anyone wanting to lower their carbon footprint, Food Fix is a great read! Eating meat isn’t a problem, it’s the way they raise most of the animals, so you have to find responsible sources. If you’re vegan, using soy based products like fake meats actually hurts our environment because of the way they grow the soy and how they’re using our farm lands. Our problem is how we’ve industrialized our food industry. Just thought I’d throw that out there for anyone who’s thinking about it it’s info mostly based from America statistics but helpful info!

My vegan sloppy joes are made with lentils. So good and healthier.
Take at least two years to transition. Once you have these foods are much easer to digest but you will find some foods like meat you will quickly find a benefit in feeling well not having headaches so think about those before you are tempted by them. Milk you have to be very strict about it before you benefit then the benefits keep increasing and becoming more marked.

I’m a level 3 gymnast♀️ My coach said that I could go to level 5 next season if I get a round off backhand spring. It’s been 6 months since the gymnastics season started. There is special reason why I can’t do it here’s that story. I used to be a great gymnast, never got a mental block or anything like that. Until the one day my confidence slipped away. All because of a bully. The girl who bullied me said “why do you even try doing gymnastics, you’re gonna fall and die doing that stuff.” I tried to ignore what she said but in the back of my head all I could think about was what she said. One thing I learned in this journey is don’t listen to what everyone thinks about you. All it’s gonna do is leave you in piles of despair. I realized that the only thing I could do was confront the bully. I know it’s not easy but this is what you need to do to be happy. So what I asked her if she remembered the day she told me I would fall on my head she said yeah and then I said do know what you did to my life. She said no. Do you know that you ruined my life. You know the saying “ sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me” she said yeah. Will actually no sticks and stones may break my bones but words can hurt you and make you feel broken. She looked sad and confused at the same time. And then I walked away. The thing I realized is that don’t keep everything on the inside let it out. I hoped this helped and remember you are not alone✨

I’ve been trying to go vegan and I feel horrible. Absolutely no energy, can’t even work out. I’m going to try to add some lean animal protein back into my diet then try to gradually decrease my intake over time.

I was vegan for a while and its alot of eating you literally have to eat so much food to meet your daily requirements where as if you just added 3oz of grass fed beed or pastured eggs it would massively boost your nutrient profile without having to eat nearly as much.

So proud of you Shaylee. I tore my ACL during my last high school baseball game after taking a bad step on first base. Fortunately my knee remained stable (I didn’t really feel that much pain when the injury first happened) and I went the physical therapy route and avoided surgery since I didn’t play anymore after high school. Would have had to have gotten surgery had I opted to play in college. Four years later I don’t have much in terms of complications. I just can’t run as well as I could back then nor can I do leg workouts like I once could but that’s okay. Keep up the hard work Shaylee. It always makes me smile to see athletes recover from injuries like this.

Hello fresh where I live doesnt have vegan options. And when I asked about it, they said you can exclude the dairy. Unfortunately it’s already in the box. So if your goal is to help the environment by lessening consumption and purchases of animal products. Purchasing dairy from hellofresh then just throwing it away is maintaining demand not decreasing it
I’ve cut out a lot of animal products and am leaning in to plant based. I’d really recommend the book Veganist by Kathy Freston she encourages this leaning in and it’s very approachable.

Hello! I know that I’m late but I want to share some of my story. I was born with very flat feet, I never was able to run “correctly”. I was an active child and loved soccer. I ended up getting sever’s disease, I also founded out I got micro fractures in my foot as well. I was put in a boot for 4-6 weeks (I think it was 4 but can’t remember). After, it was a long journey. I didn’t play soccer for about 6 months, before the boot, doctors told me that I might have to give up soccer, it was hard trying to get back into soccer. I wished I found your channel sooner, it might’ve helped me see that I could get back into soccer. At least I found it now❤️
I tore my ACL 3 years ago playing volleyball and it was a long road to recovery
This story really inspires me because I tore my ACL and a bunch of legiments in my ankle almost a year ago. I really have wanted to play. But there have been so many things gone wrong in my surgery that I have to have another one. And might not even her to play next season. I can’t even imagine being a D1 athlete and having to go through this. I still have at least 3 months left to go. This has really helped so thank you so much!

What they do in 600 days, you will do it in 50 days and if you fail you can still pursue to do it till you get shit done. It’s never late to begin now. Yes you wasted time, there is nothing, literally nothing that you can do about the things that you have already lost to procastination and laziness, whether it’s time or people or something of value, it’s just gone But if you sit around crying and whining about it till the end of time, you will end up losing the possibilities of future as well. So get up, drink coffee, hustle and never give up searching for meaning, even after accomplishing your aims and goals. A life without purpose is not living, it’s just surviving.
Keltie, i agree. Tried Vegani did it properly and i didnt thrive due to digestive and immune issues. I did plant based and wild fish only for 3 years, then while travelling i added in cheese and butter again, more recently i added back in local free range eggs. I still dont eat meat and avoid farmed fish. This is my balance. The whole dont go through the cow thing is rubbish because cows digest food differently to us and have different teeth. We cannot live on grass

U know what I am preparing for iit since last 2 years and today is 2 March, one month before my paper, it’s just I wanna give up everything, I was very good in maths but recently started physics, bez it drew my attention like magnet, I used to ignore maths. Even in test I cannot get in top.30 out of 90 students, one of my friend is so good in maths that my sir has none hope from me and all hope from her.

Chew your food properly and take your time while eating, don’t rush. We are not simply eating, we are nourishing ourselves, feel the explosion of different tastes in your mouth, admire the colors of the food before putting it into your mouth, chew slowly as if this was your last meal. In Italy we say that eating is like making love, don’t be in a hurry or you will miss the best part.

I watched the Game Changers after going vegan for ethical reasons. My thoughts were something like “I’m gonna try Veganism now for a while but my ideal diet would be 90% plant based and some good quality meat once a month or so.” After watching Game Changers I went 100%. The only animal protein I’ve consumed every since were some unhappy flies on my bike ride to work.
There is ample reason to believe in Jesus!! There is the extra biblical ancient historians’ references to him that they included in their work out of the desire for accuracy, as well as the documentation of what happened to Jesus’ followers. His eyewitnesses saw something they believed in this is evident because they willingly suffered extreme brutality just to spread his message. There is also the fact that the Gospels stood up under very intense scrutiny from other eyewitnesses at the time for years. The early church held the Gospels in high enough regard to include them in scripture they wouldn’t have included disreputable documents. There are also many intelligent atheists who have researched Christianity and converted, and there are logical Christians who know all the evidence for and against Christianity yet still believe. The Romans could have ended Christianity by producing the body of Jesus Christ, but they could not. And of course there is the unprecedented and never repeated (to this degree) widespread rapid spread of a message the amazing news that is Jesus’ message.
Humanity is affected by sin and our default destination is Hell. But God has given us the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. We only need to believe in Jesus, follow him and repent to be saved do this before it’s too late! Jesus loves you and wants a personal relationship with you!! He is the only way to Heaven!!

People say I can’t catch or throw because I’m small even tho I’m went to football camp and went to a football team, they don’t even care if I prove them wrong so I started working out by doing push-ups and lifting weights and sit-ups everyday. Please watch the documentaries such as Dominion etc. Once you see the truth and your brain turns off the thought that animals are food, you will be vegan forever <3 A grandma making a loving pie for her family is amazing, but it does not have to contain a victim. Eating ice cream in Italy is possible, just eat vegan ice cream. You will not want to eat the ice cream when you know there is a victim behind the strawberry gelato and you WON'T feel like you are missing out. You feel so much more free in terms of the food system. I feel like being vegan has set me free from my emotional and habitual attachment to food. Please enlighten yourself to one of the fundamental aspects of being vegan the truth behind animal enslavement.

I go to the gym for cardio and weight training 4 days a week. I tried plant based diet for 2 weeks and pain and swelling was nearly zero for the first time in 6 months. And I lost winter pounds and can keep my sexy girl muscles as well. Definitely going to continue this!! Thanks again!

Great video, it’s great to see plant based diets getting promoted more and more for health and environmental reasons. As a passionate Vegan/Animal rights activist i think it is important to highlight that animal products means that an animal had to suffer and be killed for that product to exist. The definition of Veganism is about living in a way which seeks to exclude harm and abuse to animals. If we can live happy healthy lives without the exploitation of animals then should we, or atleast shouldn’t we work towards that goal?

You can eat really healthy on an omnivore diet if you have the right stuff. The motivator for going veg*n should be the animals and the environment. Definitely watch The Unnatural Vegan. The vegan diet keeps being sensationalised for meat causing cancer and stuff. You can do unhealthy vegan or healthy eating meat. I’m a vegetarian and I still have to really focus on being healthy.

Been eating a more plant based diet now for a few months, really loving the feeling of of no food coma’s, more energy, and my brain feeling more clear during the day. but man my digestion though. As i’m moving more and more from vegetarian to vegan I find that it is really difficult to eat when everything is so high of fiber, and I really need to gain weight. Eating is tough I just feel like I am stuffing myself each meal and still only going a little over my RDI of calories. I got a lot of calories from cheese before which was horrible.

I could not eat enough calories during the day on a vegan diet. I was bloated, my gut hurt, and I discovered over 90% of people will become insulin resistant on a high carb diet. We are truly omnivores and thrive on healthy omnivorous diets. On a 2500 calorie diet, I felt sick of eating, sick of food, and exhausted and bloated. I still was slowly losing weight. My body just decreased it’s ability to absorb food as I ate more on a vegan diet

I started going vegan slowly by doing breakfast first, then lunch, then a few nights a week, and then completely. I think we make a big deal about labeling our diets and shaming people when they aren’t “perfect”. I’ve been vegan for over 7 years and I’m so happy I did, for my health, for the environment, and for the animals. Congrats every step of the way!
I am not sure if you can answer this one but I have been vegan for a while but started having issues due to perimenopause and very low iron levels. I cannot eat soy or fermented products. I have gone on iron supplements but of course my doctor doesn’t think a vegan diet is good for anyone so he wants me to eat animal products. I really want to stay vegan. Any other suggestions for bumping up my iron intake.
The vast array of Vegan junk food (beyond burgers, chicken strips, ice cream, etc) helped make the transition much easier for me, but you’re right I definitely didn’t feel as good as I do now on whole foods!

Few things I want to say to all of you. First, the amount of vegetables I have consumed in my 40 years, would fit in a ziplock bag. Second, this movie was awesome, and inspiring. Despite my intense dislike of vegetables, it has opened my eyes a bit, especially when hearing from Arnold and that powerlifter. As I get older, I am feeling the effects of a lifetime of refined sugar and fryer oil. My doctor is starting to see some problems in my bloodwork, primarily cholesterol. I know that for my families sake, something needs to change.
This part is for all of you that insist everyone go plant based to save the animals…. Stop. Meat eaters don’t care about the caged farm animals, you are not changing their mind that way. In fact, pushing a “save the animals” agenda will have the opposite effect you hope for by further cementing stubborn carnivore ideals that they know whats best and you are just lying for the animals sake. Instead, focus on the health benefits of a plant based diet like this movie did. Focus on dispelling the beliefs put in place by the meat industry. The carnivors are the way they are because they believe the hype they’ve been hearing. Rather than lecture them for eating animals, convince them why it actually hurts them, and you will see better results.

One thing that the Doctor said that I want to reply to is that she would have liked more interviews with dieticians and doctors and I have heard from a lot of vegans that their doctors dismissed their diets completely and wouldn’t even consider the benefits of a plant-based diet. They just followed the mentality that eating meat is the only valid way to eat. I have heard the same thing from nutritionists because most of the accredited nutrition programs are paid for by the same people who fund the U.S. Food pyramid type information. This might be why they chose doctors who were actually familiar with the benefits (which if a doctor knows its healthier, why wouldn’t they adapt it into their diet? That’s like trusting a dentist who follows bad oral hygiene in their personal life.)

Going full vegan when you are always on the go is hard unless you can live on salads each day. Not all restaurants have vegan friendly foods. But I have cut out all red meat a while back, if there is no protein option I will usually take the fish. Im about 80% plant base so the health benefits are there

Most pasta is vegan, you don’t have to torture yourself with bean pasta
I was always a bit critical of vegan or plant based diets and liked my meats and fish once in a while. But I suffered from chronic bladder infection and sometimes would have kidney infections. It was very painful. A friend recommended going plant based. I was desperate at this point. After a month my chronic bladder infections stopped…. I still get them once in a while, but no longer chronic. Going plant based literally changed my life.

No love in slitting an innocent animals throat, no love in their screams. No love in feeding your family something that’ll increase their risk of heart disease. The future is Vegan. Is has to be. Love and compassion not violence. Please educate yourself on their suffering!

When I played rugby in my early teen days, people thought I was weak cause they looked at my physic of being slim. After I played, the coach put me on the field full time.when people underestimate you, let them and don’t say anything to them and just show them and make them the fools.
Instead of making fixed diets or specific items, it would be far more useful to know the theory the first principles (c.f. Elon Musk’s thinking method) behind what and how to source different nutritional needs, i.e. how to evaluate what your needs are (both common, universal ones and individual particulars) and how to evaluate if each foodstuff does/doesn’t do it so you can create your own diet because a lot of things that get recommended in this area are esp. challenging for the poor because they can’t just copy whatever is suggested and if they make changes without understanding the effects of them, could get themselves into a lot of serious health trouble unknowingly (c.f. “hidden hunger” and how that undernutrition is worse than over).
Come on Keltie, you really think you go to Italy and the food is made by an Italian Grandma? Or it is a hustled kitchen using precooked pasta and pre-cooked sauces that are thrown together at lightning speed to make your food arrive at your table in due time? How come people have these ridiculous ideas about Italy on their minds? It is 2020 here as well you know.

Oh…..btw……I live in Italy……and the icecream is sooo good in the little ice-cream-shops…..and it is all made with industrial products. You can eat really healthy on an omnivore diet if you have the right stuff. The motivator for going veg*n should be the animals and the environment. Definitely watch The Unnatural Vegan. The vegan diet keeps being sensationalised for meat causing cancer and stuff. You can do unhealthy vegan or healthy eating meat. I’m a vegetarian and I still have to really focus on being healthy.

all your meals look delicious unfortunately they are not whole food plant based meals. Most are processed and are not healthy. These are good transition meals though but not for long term. It’s great to see people trying to eat less animal products. It benefits us and the planet.
My math teacher showed us videos like this. He always tells us to never give up, to prove people wrong, and to keep trying. Ironically, I proved him wrong. I was doing bad in his class, he thought I should be in the special class for kids who have trouble in math. He kept nagging my mom to agree to put me in it. Sometimes calling me out in class. I studied harder, I had tutoring with my aunt’s husband who was studying in engineering, and I never gave up. My F, which was a 40% was then brought up to a D, a 62%. I proved him wrong, and I will continue to do so.

If you want to eat meat or any protein you want to make sure you have enough HCl in your stomach. The easiest way to get the CL is from table salt NaCl or you can get KCl from V8 juice.
Hey Shaylee, thank you for sharing your story! You have inspired me through my second ACL surgery/recovery. It was hard going through it once again before my first year of college ball was about to start. I felt like it was taken away from me. I felt like I never got a break since about three years ago, where I ended up tearing my right ACL going into my junior year of high school. It’s been rough doing physical therapy with two repaired knees now, but watching you go through and never give up, gave me more will power than I already had. Just to push through these last three months of physical therapy and work harder than I have ever done before. The blood, sweat, and tears do pay off and I’m so excited to see what the future holds for you and eventually see you get back on that court mentally and physically stronger as an athlete. And like you said, “This is a minor setback for a major comeback.” This is your year girly, keep up the hard work! God has a plan for all of us to get through many adversities in our lives for a reason. He is watching over you. Tried a complete vegan lifestyle change with the happy pear (starting low fodmap) but it was too hard to do all at once. Now I’m eating about 2/3 vegan dishes and slowly transitioning to a more complete vegan lifestyle. Although my family is not convinced to switch together with me, they do enjoy many of the dishes
I hate my life and my family they are so fake they only support me when im great but at hard times they always discourage me that i cant do it they always say i cant play volleyball
I suggest that people who want to be more plant based, but not ready to go 100% that they establish bright lines. If eating out is your issue, then your bright line might be the doorway to your house. Inside your house is a 100% plant zone and then outside you do your best but let yourself go to your favorite restaurant and have favorite dishes or gratefully eat Grandma’s from the old country made with love food. Or it might be that meat is only on the weekends and during the week is plant based. And yes the weekend can start on Friday night when after an exhausting week the only answer is a moo-cheese pizza.
Whatever it is, my opinion is that without those clearly defined and announciated bright lines, a little meat becomes a little more meat until you are right back on your old “one Chinese buffet away from a heart attack” diet.
I eat lots of bison,organs, and game meats but enjoy your channel for the remainder of my plate. At the end of the day a healthy whole foods diet is what everyone needs, whatever way you choose to do it meat or not. Your content is great.

Been vegan for four years and this is very similar to how I eat. So very realistic and sustainable for long term wellbeing. Maybe a bit more whole foods and less mock meats but it’s a good start!

Hilarious! Just like you, after watching Game Changers I went balls blazing head 1st into a vegan lifestyle. As an athlete, I appreciated the modern scientific evidence on overall performance and endurance leveling. For almost two years, I was obsessed with weighing & measuring myself like a compulsive addict. Now, I just use only the mirror (& clothes fitting) as a barometric to gauge my physique. Also, retraining better habits so adjusting my nutrition based on my physical biochemistry. Asking Qs like: how do I feel after that meal? Did I hydrate? Did I get enough sleep? Am I able to sweat? Consistency is the name of the game for long term sustainability. Every single day is an opportunity to improve for the better in mind, body, & spirit connection.
This is a great video. I am vegetarian, and have been slowly cutting out dairy. I love eggs so much, I can’t cut them out. Instead, I spend a little more to get them from a local farm that is free range and does a Chicken of the Month.

I think it makes sense that the doctors interviewed were plant based because if a doctor recognized that this was the best modality for optimal health, it makes sense that they would adopt it fully. You wouldnt find doctors who advocate not smoking but are smokers themselves. If they believe its 100% healthier, they wouldn’t abstain if that makes sense?
