This is a regular occurrence on this subreddit, and it is incredibly frustrating as a resident physician.
This time a post with over 300+ upvotes within an hour about mid-level residents being paid more than MD residents at UNC was removed.
There is absolutely no reason to remove this thread as it demonstrates direct evidence of residents’ concerns with mid-level creep and it’s effect on our education and profession.
Why are the mods so uncomfortable with this discussion? Are there even any residents on the mod team?
u/am_i_wrong_dude, and u/PokeTheVeil for your responses. I realize you could have deleted this thread and simply not responded. I appreciate you taking the time to answer; I know we all live busy lives and this is thankless work.
We obviously disagree about censorship on this sub, and that’s ok. But we’ve had something of the discussion I asked for, and I appreciate a little more how hard your jobs can be.
My suggestion for my colleagues who want to continue this discussion in future threads is to beat the mods at their own game. Don’t give them an excuse to delete these posts. Don’t be unprofessional. Don’t turn this into an echo chamber.
Let’s have discussions. Let’s talk about how we can turn our venting into real change. Let’s talk about how we can keep patients and healthcare safe for the future.
