I feel so sick today, I ate gluten products last night, my face got swollen and I felt like I was drugged. I admit I ate half abox of belvita and and extra 2 naan breads….. wish I hadn’t though
Oh man I commented about what you talk about here on an older video of yours. I’m glad you talked about all of the things! This is excellent work.
I don’t know if I’m gluten intolerant or not, but I cut out gluten and suddenly my chronic disabitabing migraines stopped. After 2 years I decided to start eating gluten again and my migraines came back. So I just don’t eat gluten anymore.
I am gluten intolerant but I can definitely tolerate your beauty and brains. Kurt.
I went gluten free seven years ago when I was struggling with symptoms and my sister was diagnosed with celiac. I often wonder if I really need to go gluten free. I was tested for Celiacs and it came back negative. Do you have any suggestions on how to go about an elimination process by reintroducing foods to see if I’m really intolerant?
LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stuffing your shirt hahahaha! I took care of THAT a long while ago… Ahem, book job 😉
I’m wondering if any of the people watching this video who feel they might me experiencing gluten sensitivity or allergy have had such problems like white stools, bumps on the lips and mouth, and bloated stomach after eating something with gluten. I’ve been on a journey of trying to know what is going on with my digestive system, so I’ve been avoiding gluten for a couple of months and I am feeling better ♀️
But balsamic vinegar usually shows sugar on the label doesn’t it?
Please elaborate on “balsamic vinegar.” Is it the grocery store variety or the 100$ USD per 100ml variety.
I should send this to my friend who stopped eating gluten foods because apparently she read somewhere that gluten sticks to your stomach.:))
I am wheat/gluten/rice/soy/potato intolerant. I get bloated and my stomach hurts. I don’t know anything about it. I just know the symptoms and it’s easier to avoid those foods altogether rather than targeting a very specific link between them. There are other amazing things out there to try.
Celiac seems to run in my family, quite a few have been diagnosed, but one family member was told they didn’t have it but they weren’t sent for a biopsy until after the doctor had them try a gf diet for a few months. If you’re going to get tested for celiac do it before even trying gf!
People need to stop pussy footing around GET TESTED or shut up
I have ceoliac and am getting tested for refractory ceoliac disease type 2! I have ibs and lots of other auto immune disease. Get low key annoyed when people pretend to be gluten intolerant
Wow, Thanks so much. I tried it. I wasn”t sure about the size of my glass (maybe 12 oz), so I started with 1/8 tsp BWS. It tasted like vinegar. I addéd 1/8 tsp more of the salts and it was pretty good. I the added some liquid stevia I make at home. Yummy! Someone commented it has a cola taste, tome it didn’t, but a nice sweet tart flavor.
I never get why people are like “Oh I’m gonna be gluten free to loose weight!” and then they load up on overprocessed junk and wonder why its not working. Just don’t eat processed foods and/or fake pastas (Other than say lentil pasta or veggie spirals)! Steam some vegetables!
A lot of celiac tests though can come back with false negatives and celiacs is mostly misdiagnosed as IBS. This could also be a factor in considering people who are “gluten intolerant”, may actually have been misdiagnosed.
Lactose.
I find that I cannot stomach most dairy products, as in a feel really sick in the stomach and bloated. However, I have no problem with yoghurt, feta and ricotta.
Am I lactose sensitive or lactose intolerant?
Also, I’m studying nutrition, aspiring to get into my masters for dietetics
Ive been allergic to oat, wheat and barley since birth, but i refuse to eat gluten free breads etc cause of the amount of sugar etc added for the taste, i prefer to just eat a wholesome diet and dont miss bread products one bit
I made my own seitan from wheat gluten flour and got sick. I thought it was the gluten, since I have some allergies and intolerances for foods and I never liked bread. When I ate gluten free for two weeks I felt okay, then I ate gluten again and still felt okay. So I went back to eating gluten, which seems to be fine. I am confused by the reaction on the seitan. I made it myself and only put the flour, salt and some spices in it, all ingredients that I know I can eat without problems.
Sometimes the body just reacts weird I guess xD
I’m allergic to oat, wheat and barley, and dietitians ate always asking me how I know because they think I’m full of shit….16 yrs of allergy testing and allergy shots says so….I really wish that dietitians and doctors would get it through their heads, that at 50 yrs old, I know what the hell I’m allergic to
I can definitely confirm that gluten intolerance is a real real thing. 4 years ago, senior year in college, I was throwing up every single day after I ate. I was completely healthy before that and a collegiate athlete. I was tested for Celiac disease and while I was waiting for the results I immediately went on a gluten free diet. The results came back negative but I felt better and stopped throwing up all the time. To this day I know whenever my food is cross contaminated. I will know soon.
We can be intolerant to anything under the sun except gluten apparently.
Read a book called “Grain Brain” and let us know what you think
Lol wheat products rarely have saturated fats, rather trans fats.
Maybe this will help someone else out, but I realized my issue was with whole grain. I grew up the brown version of everything and had pretty regular diarrhea, to the point I didn’t know what it was, cause it was normal for me. As I got older and had even more issues, I found that white rice was the easiest thing for me to eat. Now that I know that it outer casings of whole grains I take issue with, I eat them in small portions and no more than a couple times a week and I’m fine. While whole grains have more nutrients, if you’re inflamed and experiencing lots of diarrhea, you’re missing out on those nutrients anyway.
Thank you Dr. Gundry for sharing this recipe. Tried it last night and I really enjoyed it. Thanks for all you do for all of us!
What is the benefit to being diagnose with celiac disease? There isn’t a cure (at this time) and the treatment is a gluten free diet. A wheat allergy would result in an anaphylactic reaction, which is life threatening, and very different from IBS symptoms. However, wheat intolerance could be determined by an elimination diet which would avoid very expensive and possibly invasive tests.
Epic fail. I have celiac disease. Don’t tell me about healthy whole grain bread. Gluten is literally a poison to me
Luckily I already knew that gluten free bread or anything else isn’t any better. I just eat less of it and change it up.
Watching these videos while mindlessly eating. Granted, it’s vegetables
I REALLY have problems when people stop eating gluten and replace them with gluten-free highly processed products claiming that they are eating a healthier diet, as Abbey is right, it isn’t healthier. I was tested and found out that I did not have celiac. My gastroenterologist put me on the fodmap diet and we found that I did have a problem with gluten. I had no idea there was such a thing as gluten sensitivity when I first met with my doctor (I just knew something was wrong). I have tried and tried to convince myself that it is psychosomatic and that I can eat it, but I just can’t. My stomach bloats up like a beach ball in less than an hour and I have EXTREME back pain that painkillers don’t remedy. The extreme pain and bloating sometimes lasts 1 1/2 days. After years of denial, I just gave up and now I avoid gluten like the plague. BTW, I never “felt better” when I stopped eating gluten, I just stopped having painful reactive episodes from the times that I did. Abbey, I get your cynicism, as I am super cynical when people stop eating gluten, say they feel great, then get tired of it and resume their old eating habits with no health repercussions. Although doctors have acknowledged that the verdict is not out on this issue, I agree with Abbey. We do need more studies so that people really know what is wrong with them and others won’t doubt them when they say they have a problem, like I do sometimes.
How come gluten intolerance has become a epidemic? I never heard about it until 5 years ago. Or are people just switching to gluten free because they think it is healthier?
This confuses me so much. I’ve had a celiac blood test, had a celiac biopsy and both came back negative. But I had been gluten free for 2 years and only back on gluten about 3 months when I was tested for both. I’ve never had a wheat allergy test. I do have issues with a lot of FODMAPs and I’m sure that played a part, but why would FODMAPs cause my thyroid to throb and my brain to feel like it physically hurts? I only have digestive troubles with the other FODMAPs I have issues with. This is so confusing.
Someone food intolerant having pain on the left side of the abdomen? Is it normal?
Awesome! These videos come in handy when I’m trying to make a point!
Today’s discussion Gluten “sensitivity”. I sent this video. Made it much easier to explain why we shouldn’t cut gluten before getting tested.
When in doubt, HAVEA RDN FOR BACKUP! AH-HA!
Im not celiac but do get digestive issues with gluten (bloating, discomfort, brain fog, diarrhoea…. TMI ). Im ok with oats though, as i think they only contain traces of gluten? I have a chronic illness and i think alot of us seem to have problems with gluten (and sometimes dairy), especially autoimmune type illnesses. I dont think its a FODMAPS issue with me, as i dont get the same symptoms with any other food. I agree though that people shouldnt cut out gluten foods unless they have an intolerance or obv celiac, as theres nothing inherently wrong with gluten. I eat gluten free bread but i know its not great nutritionally, i just need bread! Thinking of trying to make my own with a GF brown bread mix and maybe some gram flour added in. Will save a lot of money if it’s edible! Thanks for informative video. Xx

You don’t have to have celiac or digestive issues to be “gluten intolerant”. Anyone who has an autoimmune disease could benefit from eliminating gluten. Gluten is inflammatory and because of molecular mimicry, it can trigger the autoimmune response. Plenty of MDs and RDs have seen their patients with Hashimotos, Lupus, MS, and RA improve after eliminating gluten from their diet.
I generally find that people elimination diets are unhealthy for the body and mind. We’re omnivores and should be eating a bit of everything. Eat when hungry, stop when full. Eat fruit, veggies, meat, dairy and have a treat when you want it, but just one slice of cake instead of 5. People always make this so complicated and it doesn’t need to be.
. https://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2016/09/21/gluten-sensitivity-celiac-disease.aspx This protein, found in wheat, barley and rye, makes your gut more permeable, which allows proteins to get into your bloodstream. This sensitizes your immune system and promotes inflammation and autoimmunity. In the press release announcing the publication of his new book, “Gluten Freedom,” Fasano said: Gluten-containing grains have been linked to more than 200 adverse health effects, with 20 adverse modes of toxicity, including neurotoxicity
I became allergic gluten gluten on 2014. Since options were very poor: I researched and find out that most South African, Indian, Chinese and Mexican foods are naturally gluten free. So I had never struggled to find food. Apples and cheese sticks are my favorite snacks and emergency food as well as Glucerna or Ensure. Food labeled as GF is overloaded with sugar, fats and/or sodium. IMHO If God made me gluten intolerant, maybe He wants me to eat a healthy diet

Has anyone tried this yet and if so describe the taste to me
Thank you, my family doesn’t allow soda and now after this I’m going to go amaze my dad.
Here’s a different way
1: get all the sugar in the store
2: boil it
3: squeeze lemons
4: get strawberry juice
5: put the strawberry juice in the lemonade
6: put food dye
7: carbonate it
Would it be unwise to drink this often? I made some using your recipe and I thought is was really delicious, but I’d honestly would probably like to have one like 3 times a day.
Lovely Video! Forgive me for the intrusion, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you thought about Taparton Impressive Look Takeover (just google it)? It is a smashing one of a kind guide for Getting a bikini ready body in 60 days without the headache. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my BF got great success with it.
I get 2 sodas a year. Cause I have a very healthy family. It’s like a treat.
Its just bubbley vinegar style drink… its good after the big meal…. not a cola in any way….
whaaaaaaaat?? the same balsamic vinegar i put on my salad?? This is so weird I have to try it!!
So why am I still in good health after drinking 2 litters of diet Pepsi for nearly 50 years.DOCTOR?
Well you know what that is no way of a soda taste. It’s more like a sparkling grape wine wear you never get drunk off of plus it really ok to drink soda sugar free or not if you don’t have blood sugar problems.
My whole neighborhood is poisoned from all the poisonous waste I poured down the drain. Please help!
I myself have a massive soda addiction especially pertaining cola to I’ve been trying to find good substitutes I can use in my diet I’m going to try this
I am definately going to try this! I have a soda streat at home, so this would be a great and cheap substitute for cola
I tried it and I really liked it! Thanks Dr Gundry, you’ve been helping me so much. I really appreciate your recipes (even the ones w/ 2 ingredients!)
Everyone is not the same so what works for 1 maynot work for some one else
A few drops of liquid stevia sweetener and lemon juice will make this absolutely taste fantastic!
My jaw just dropped. Ok need to try it first before i say anything.
Absolute nonsense. Diet sodas don’t make you gain weight, they don’t raise blood sugar. You can not put on weight by consuming zero calories…not possible. This is a tired, old myth.
Loved your drink though.
You make some of my favorite videos on YT. Knowledgable, funny, approachable, witty, and so good at making things easily understandable. You rock.
you look fantastic for a 90 years old man, congratulations your soda is winning for you. Soda is not addictive for people with a strong will, I tried soda with stevia at Ikea it was great, can’t wait to have it by coke or Pepsi, 50 ml with some honey roasted almonds is worth 100 times balsamic tar vinegar.
So, if I start having reactions (sensitivities) to foods that contain gluten or dairy after taking antibiotics, that’s not psychosomatic that’s the result of the destruction of the microbiome in my gut. Especially when those foods I could eat with absolutely no issues before antibiotics.
I was wondering, is there any sparkling water without sugar brands that you would recommended?
What if I drink one or half a can a week? Sometimes I just want to satisfy that palate for a short bursts that lasts a few seconds.
Sorry, but what you Said is just not true and might harm many people who suffer from Gluten-sensitivity or celiac desease. you can go to the doctor and get a DNA test for Gluten-sensitivity, that test proves If you have it or not. By the way, many different Symptoms can accure if someone is Gluten-sensitive, for example Joint pain, muscle pain, IBS, Crohns desease, migranes, Depression and much more.
Do you have a recipe for a Mountain Dew alternative? I don’t drink dark pop but I’m def trying this. Would love an alternative to dew tho
Does it reduce depression? Like, gives one a buzz? Most are struggling with some form of depression! Therefore, bad habits or not caring what they drink, as long as it helps their depression issues. Can we take the same thing as our celebrities? No?
So the carbonation puts you at risk for Diabetes and heart attack? Or is it just the sugar in regular soda? Is it proven that diet soda causes these issue or is it still up in the air? I assume that the artificial sweetener may tamper with gut bacteria. Also, the salt on diet soda is not good for you. But, what if you drink diet rite which has no sodium or aspartame but Splenda? So in diet rite, the issue would be the Splenda? But back to my first question, is carbonation bad for you? I will try this drink recipe and possibly add some carbonation to it. Thanks
This sounds so good! However, as someone who drinks a lot of soda, is this method viable for replacing soda in larger amounts per day, or just that one can? Is balsamic vinegar good for you if you drink the equivalent of 5+ cans a day mixing balsamic vinegar with sparkling water?
Is adding stevia ok?
How about a shot of gin on the rare night out? Lol
I really like bread, but I am kind of picky with it, i like sourdough a lot and whole grain. I never had problem with gluten but I got a friend that does, she doesn´t eat junk but she ate a lot of sandwiches so when she cut gluten she felt better, less tired also.
What is wrong with you people? I had hope and knowing i already hate Vinegar taste I was still willing to give this a try. Balsamic Vinegar is bleh. I put it in the carbonated water. Granted there is a sweet flavor somewhere hidden in that Balsamic but its down right just 95% Vinegar and 5% Sweet flavor from the grapes. I tried to remeasure and taste again. No, I put a full glass of Soda Water and 1 tsp of balsamic and the vinegar is just so powerful.
I am going to go on a limb here and say you are all genetically adapted to enjoy or ignore the flavor of Vinegar.
You forgot edible gas I told you that because my dad told me that you have to get edible gas and you add the ingredients
I tried this soda this was great I’m gonna quit diet soda forever and drink this thanks doc
If this man can look you in the eye and tell you vinaigre soda is tasty well just don’t trust him. Don’t take your friends kids or family to see this doctor. What a lunatic!
Does it have alcohol? I need to make a healthy drink for my health class
Pre dinner cocktail
Sounds like a REALLY exciting evening
So you assume that I wish to have long life? Imma try it because I enjoy the taste of vinegar. But not for my health.
I went to the store to buy balsamic vinegar but they have these little seeds in the bottle. Should I just strain out the seeds and still use it?
I am a horrible soda drinker, this stresses me. lol I’ll try this tho
Hi Dr.Gundry, thanks for all the amazing info you’ve been sharing with us. I make the same drink, but with ACV. Does it make a difference whether you use Apple cider vinegar or balsamic vinegar, except for the taste?
High sulfur water smells like broccoli farts, & gives you broccoli farts.
