I am not here for information, but to help those who are seeking answers and help! Not too long ago, I was deeply plunged into internet searches and videos in hopes of understanding WHY despite all my efforts, I could not lose weight! I have tried everything under the sun from the modest diets to the extreme and nothing worked. When I say extreme, I mean going for months and months on 200 to 500 calories and not losing a single pound! Not 1 pound. Now, if that sounds completely impossible to you then my comment was not meant for you! This is for those of you who know exactly what I am talking about, because you’ve been there or are currently experiencing this phenomenon. After a while, I could not find anymore motivation. After the ups and downs of my weight, only to end up where I started I thought my mind and body had gievn up. I just did not have it in me to exercise, even though I continued dieting. I used to search “low motivation” and “weight loss plateaus”. I even tried the reverse diet trick, only to be disappointed. After a very long time, I have uncovered the reasons I was unable to lose weight and that’s not to say I may not discover more reasons to my slow wright loss down the line. Anyways, I want to share some of the things I learned about myself and that I am currently getting corrected with medications. Maybe you might be experiencing these problems too or something similar? You just never know! Do what I did and keep asking questions until you discover what is wrong.
1. PCOS which caused a horomal imbalance amongst other things!
2. Severely deficient in vitamin D! Even though I was prescribed a mega dose vitamin D weekly, I had my levels checked a year later and the levels were exactly the same! So they changed the type of vitamin D prescribed, as well as the dosage and frequency and I feel like a different person. I feel normal, motivated and energetic. I had become so used to feeling tired and fatigued that I did not even know something was wrong, because it became my normal! But nothing is normal about an absence of motivation and energy!
3. Depression, but I knew that already!
4. Severely Anemic (I don’t experience heavy bleeding, so my doctors are stumped) I get iron infusiomn every few months now to remain stable.
5. Metabolic Syndrome (hopefully this was caused by the hormonal imbalance and can be corrected).
Now obviously I’m a weird case (why me?) and I don’t expect anyone to be this screwed up. The only point I’m trying to get accross is that I had no idea all of these things was wrong with me, let alone preventing me from losing weight and attributing to symptoms I came to believe was normal, such as increased hunger, mood swings and insomnia. If you find it impossible to lose weight, there might just be a medical reason for it. By the way, I have lost 57.2 pounds in 3 and a half months. Good luck and never give up!
Being out of normal routine, such as travelling is difficult to find good foods to eat. Lack of support includes co-workers and friends who try to tempt you.

Why power is super hard for me because I actually eat really well, but I struggle with sweets which I eat regularly. I dont even keep them in the house. I refuse to eat anything artificial, but baking cookies, going to get grass fed ice cream from our local dairy is my arch enemy. Whats so difficult is that I actually feel really good. I have more energy then most people I know. I can run circles around most my friends, but yet I cant loose those last 15 lbs. I have tried cutting out sweets and I HATE IT! I use to live a lifestyle of deprivation and I cant go back, but eating sweets stresses me out and I feel like my diet has to be perfect to lose. Weight loss plateaus are part of the weight loss process. This Doctor does not know what he is talking about,, it is important to allow for plateaus to last for at least one to two weeks, the body after losing weight for a few days all of a sudden goes into plateau mood. This is normal and will happen all the time, we should welcome those plateaus, and let the body get comfortable at the new weight. After a a week or two the plateau will go away,, but sometimes it can last a month (and in rare cases longer up to a few months) and then the weight loss process resumes once the body is ready. Patience is key here. All live systems work this way, even the stock market after it goes up or down, it always plateaus, it needs time to digest the gains or losses, before resuming its upward or downward trajectory. You do not fight weight loss plateaus, you wait them out until the body is ready again to lose weight. It is unrealistic to lose weight in a straight line, even if it is 2 lbs a week, at some point we will reach a one or two week plateau. Nothing goes straight down, and weight is no exception. As a matter of fact moderate weight gains are also normal in the weight loss process, but the weight gain is always less than the weight we lost previously. Some people get frustrated if they gain 3 lbs after losing 10 lbs, but this normal, in order to lose weight you must gain weight moderately in the process. It is the long term trend that matters, not short term plateaus or moderate short term weight gain. Anybody that does not understand this will not succeed in losing weight, and will give up at the first plateau or mild weight gain in the journey.
OMGGG I JUST FOUND YOU YESTERDAY AND I CANT BELIEVE HOW MUCH WE HAVE IN COMMON, I’m kind of like the “before” you. I was 160lbs. and got down to 137lbs. because I only had a little food everyday or none at all. Then I developed a binging disorder (which I didn’t realize at the time) You described how it feels perfectly in one of your videos. You just kind of black out and don’t fully realize what your doing or how much you’re actually doing it. That went on for a while which caused me to gain all my weight back. Currently I’m 157lbs. trying VERY hard to keep losing weight. I’m also Pescetarian!:) Which you’re the first fitness youtuber I found that’s also a Pescetarian so I’m very excited! Currently I’m almost 19 yrs. old, instead of starving myself I’m trying to eat as clean as possible and find substitutes for my unhealthy cravings that actually satisfy me. I’m also doing Pilates at least 4 times a week for about an hour long, and hope to eventually build up enough endurance to do HIIT. I kind of feel like I’m at a loss though. Since I spent so long eating so little, now that I’m eating a little more I feel like I’m just getting more fat. I also don’t feel like my workout is enough (however my endurance again is very low, I’m also anemic so my oxygen level is low causing me to feel like I can’t breath if I push too hard, even if I do the breath count thing)

I love this. I am in recovery for anorexia bulimia and kinda switched ends after rehab and have trouble with restricting and binge without the purge and I’ve gained weight. When I get committed to fitness I take it to the extreme (and numbers are really bad for Ana) so counting macros sends me into a dark place where I’m literally doing crunches til I fall asleep and end up with bruises down my spine etc. So I give up and repeat the whole process. I’ve been working out regularly and I watch my food intake but I keep gaining weight and it’s because of our hormonal imbalance not because we are not doing anything about it. It is just harder for us to lose and takes longer and much effort than normal women. People need to understand this.

See, for making a house, cement n sand is needed, Same way, for making bigger body, food is needed, if we eat less food n remove that energy, then nothing will be left to get converted into fat.

For the last time, PCOS does not cause obesity. Your symptoms just get worse as you gain weight. I eat 2,400 calories everyday and i’m not overweight. (And yes I have PCOS)

Ok this doesn’t inspire me at all I cannot afford or want to do surgery to lose weight
I’m 27 years old, 180.2 cm. I’m also MMA fighter and training minimum 2 times a day(cardio, weight lifting, fighting and etc.) From the beginning of the month I decided to lose my weight up to 78 kg so I can fight in the different weight division. I’ve started from 84 kg. Tracked every single meal. Increased my NEAT by doing 10 000 steps a day, and not using the elevator(I’m living on 8th floor). Also i checked my self on dexa scan and it showed up that my BMR is 1980 calories so with all the activity that I’m doing I decided that to be in caloric deficit i have to consume around 2200 calories. Even though I’m not eating that many calories (sometimes lower 1300-1800, but never higher than 2200) it’s easy for me to get the protein number (minimum 160 grams).
Also I’m doing intermittent fasting 20/4 I’m eating from 17:00 until 21:00
I’ve started my diet and increased my training and NEAT exactly 2 week ago, when I was 84 kg. 2 weeks passed and instead of losing a bit I gained a lot I don’t expect huge weight loss in 30 days. But what’s happening right now is not what I expected after two weeks. For many people number on scale doesn’t matter as long as they look good in the mirror. In my case numbers really matter. So after 14 days I gained +3 kg. Is it plateau? or I’m doing something wrong?

So these are tips for weight loss specifically, but your first one is to choose a goal because building muscle requires a caloric surplus? So your tip for weight loss is to… have weight loss as your goal? I’m confused. (And also you can certainly build muscle while in a calorie deficit if you’re working your muscles properly and your caloric deficit isn’t TOO harsh. I think if you hit the gym three times a week and just aiming for a 1 pound per week weight loss, you’re can lose that much more fat mass than muscle mass you gain for that goal. In fact, isn’t is absolutely true that as you build muscle mass, your metabolism increases making it then “easier” (or faster) to lose weight? You just can’t “bulk out” at a calorie deficit, but I doubt most of your viewers would ever want to pursue that.

Really! The introvert thing, have always been a loner, being around people, socializing just wears me out! I just enjoy my own company. Also an only child, grew up alone, except for animals. Had my dog, one and only dog, cats, a cow for slaughter, and the most beautiful horse you’ve ever seen, strawberry roan (red) with flaxen (blonde) mane and tail. Most lovely horse in my little valley. I took VERY good care of him and he took care of me. Only threw me once, got spooked. That’s when I realized just what powerful animals they are. He was very good to me, rode him in a couple parades, he showed off, did some tricks, I backed him up, he bobbed his head, excited, side-stepped, so smart. Anyway sorry for going too long here, just wanted to brag a little.
