Hi, i want to start with this diet, but i have Hashimoto and Hypothiroid, so i cant eat cabagge, cauliflower etc. Do you have some suggestions for me(for veggies) and what type of veggies you eat?
I would like to know why the life style/environment/stress factors werent considered in the study as well? especially in those patients who failed to achieve remission? And which of those patients who did not achieve remission were medicated? There’s a lot of information missing in this study and it could be misleading or be discouraging to those suffering from IBD/celiac searching for healing in other ways other than drugs
Did you say you eat hemp seeds and kombucha? I thought those were illegal on the scd diet?
Thank you for this video. It’s great to hear other people’s experience with SCD. I started SCD in 2000 almost 20 years ago now! I am medication-free and still doing well. My doctors tend to think it’s luck, but they don’t discourage the diet any longer either. They can’t really argue it when I’ve been in remission for so long. I just started a channel to show some of my SCD recipes. I’m planning to do a video that tells my story too. The more people that can give positive results, the better.
Thanks so much for taking the time to share all that useful information, I’ve went and added the book to my Amazon wishlist. Did you make your own sauerkraut or buy it from the store? Sorry if you mentioned in the video and I missed it, I’m a chronic “multi-tasker”
+HackYourHealth I am flaring at the moment & feel terrible. Can u please please make a video on how to Chicken Broth. I don’t know how & feel so overwhelmed by everything.
Hi, I found your video very interesting and helpful. I have tried numerous diets and I was told I have to take ppi for the rest of my life. I got interested in you explaining how bacteria can migrate from large intestine into small one. It is called sibo. This is what I have. I have been really trying to win this infection. But it is not very successful. Please tell me more about what fruits to consume for calcium (which ones would be good ones) and any other advice you have to stop bacteria from migrating. Thank you
Dr Gundry has figured out that lectins are the cause. Check out the plant paradox.
I have ulcerative colitis for 2 years. I wonder what should I do now. Lol. Been on salofalk all this while. Seems useless.
Gastro Dr’s have ZERO faith in any form of “alternative” healing. They think youre crazy, and your “fighting” them and their GOD Ego!
It works… my son has Chrons and his GI Dr is onboard with this approach. Nimbal.org is a dr from Seattle that advocates the diet and now many doctors are following suit. Th diet work only if you do it 100%.
Awesome. I’m only on my 3rd day of SCD and already feel amazing. It’s so weird to think that simple things like potatoes and rice might be the problem. I’m wondering, how are you doing now?
Thanks for sharing this, greetings from Colombia. (I don’t know if Its ok to say greetings Jajaj) can you tell me how did you know when to introduce new food to your diet, I am trying to start it, and don’t really know how, I found some information that says that you have to follow like 5 Phases, plus an introductory phase where you basically can eat carrots, meat, chicken eggs and apple or grape juice for 2-5 days, and then start adding the allow foods phase by phase, is it the way to start it? Thanks again!
Such a great story of recovering. Im been suffering IBS for 4 years and I tried a lot of things. Now Im starting with SCD and a complete gut restaurative program. Your testimony make me believe that I can be happy again. It was a pleasure find your channel, also I want to say that you have the most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen haha . Best regards from Mexico.
I have a question on kefir did you make your own I am trying but it doesn’t seem like it’s coming out good. Any help would be appreciated thank you
Hi. I would like to do the SCD cause all other options seem to not be working. Do you have a list of what you would eat on a daily basis? Willing to eat anything at this point to heal crohns. Thank you.
what is the fist reaction of Autistic children with a special diet?
I am a 20 year old Uni student, and I have been in and out of the hospital following my diagnosis two years ago. The meds are not working. The SCD is my new glimmer of hope. I am 3 days in and people like you make me feel not alone. Thank you
hey thanks for taking the time explaining everything and giving examples on what you actualy ate, i was just realy confused cz it seemed like no where near enough calories at all, i’m pretty thin and was wondering if you lost weight on the diet?
Hi, the meats you ate were they grassfed/free range? Or you ate any sort of meat???
7 minutes and I’m still waiting on real advice I desperately need
I’m a young female diagnosed with IBS, SIBO and a hernia. I just started the diet but any fruit I eat causes me to flare up… any advice?
Madam, I’m also 21 year old and from india diagnosing for crohns disease
I’m taking so many antiinflammatory drugs along with immunosuppressants, now I’m taking weekly blood test s to check the side effects of that pills. Many of foods you recommended are not available in indiacan u helpme
Thank you. My son is having a chrons flare right now. Ive started him on the scd diet two weeks ago. We are trying to avoid the biologics like remicade and humira. I will post his development. Thank you so much.
Thanks and respect from China! Hope more and more patients will benefit from SCD!!
What about GAPS diet? Is it considerable too? Anyone has experience with these 2 diets?
Hello dear…
I want to ask can i add rice in my food with Scd deit because i have no problem with that….?
I follow this diet as well and symptoms vanish, no drugs at all, antibiotics almost killed me, I don’t trust doctors when it comes to this disease, they know squat! Following the diet is not easy though, you need real commitment or you end up eating illegal foods and all the symptoms come back with a rage.
Yes good to hear! The scdiet also works for me 10 years now without meds and real complaints see also my video about this diet, in Dutch do
Semi vegetarian diet or better whole food plant based diet, best 100% from plants have been shown in this japanese experiment study publied in the world journal of gastroenterology to be much more efficient, longest remission rate in all of the scientific litterature, it is also much easier to follow than this SC diet that make not much sense since it allow casein rich cheese (one of the worst food for IBS problems)and legumes that contains tons of complex carbohydrate just like grains and potatoes it is time to stick to the best real science folks!

Woww okay so I just turned 21 today, I’ve suffered with crohns since I was 15. I tried this diet and it worked.. but it was never enough food, I would pass out a lot. After I stopped that diet I went through hell with many drugs like remicade and now Humira and so many times being on steroids. I almost died a few times because of becoming allergic to meds and my throat closing. I’m back to square one now so I’m really thinking to try SCD/Paleo again
Great video, Full Knowledge, I am thankful you shared. I have request can we have quick chat It will be great help for me.
Yes! Don’t be a victim to yourself and the “doctors” be your own healer!
I also have crohn’s i have been taking doing meds they helped but now i think i need to go back to my diet. The best diet i ever did was a juice and water diet. I lost a lot of weight but i felt great. I did it for 9 days. Things i have problem with is red meat and pasta and bread really hurt me. I will end of trying this diet that you are talking about. I will see how it work.
SHE NEEDS TO BE MARRIED AND HAVE LOTS OF FAT LITTLE BABIES.
Thank you for this video… I been researching all day.. I have hope now.
The SC diet worked for me… before following this diet with complete commitment, I did maintain a healthy diet which included some dairy, starch, grain and limited amounts of processed foods. It was only after I eliminated all the illegal SCD foods I began to to heal. I previously had extensive ulceration throughout parts of my intestines which now evidently has disappeared.
I’m glad to hear you’re better now, hopefully you continue to be. I’ve been lucky, the worst thing I’ve ever had was hay fever, and even that seems to have faded away.
Thank you for sharing. My son had crohns. He is on scd for a month his filatus had not more leaking. He is not gaining weight. Every two days he has constipation. He feel pain. Have you experience d this?
Glad SCD Diet worked for you! It worked for me too. Personnally, appart from sticking to this diet, I did fresh vegetable juices (like carrots) for intro diet, I did take probiotic without the bifidum base (only Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. Bulgaricus, Streptococcus thermophilus). I ate a lot of red meat and fat!!! Also, I avoided to eat too much honey and fruits at the start! Hang on guys and this is gonna work!
I’ve been on the diet for 2.5 years and no Crohn’s symptoms since I started. All the expensive drugs I was on did zilch for me. Glad to hear it works for you for over 5 years!
Been doing SCD strictly for 2 months with amazing improvement. Ate two bites of canoli last night at a party and spent the night completely congested and with fitful sleep. The was my first and last “cheat”. Feeling good really does taste better than cheating. SCD for life!
Hey, thank for your video. I am a UC patient for over 2years. I would like to know about garlic. Onions and garlic( cooked) give me alot of gaz which pressures my gut wound.
So I would like to know did you eat garlic from the beginning or over the time?
Or were you having gas at the beginning, and after some time, garlic doesn’t give you symptoms anymore? Thank you again. This is very important for me
Been on Sulfasalazine for Chrons. Starting Pentasa. Just had a 5 day flare. On rescue meds, steroids and antibiotics. Feeling Better. Starting GAPS’s diet which has cured Chrons. Wish me luck!
the doctor don’t tell me what courses my perianal fistula how I know what causes please if u know
I know today doctor say me u have fistula I looking for people that give me little knowledge thank u
Is tinned fruit (pears, peaches etc) OK for Crohns sufferers? Sorry, I’m just recently diagnosed.
Please dont keep the introduction so long just be straight on point, you turned me really nervous
I was going to the toilet more than 10 times a day, after being on the diet for 3 days, the toilet visit is cut in half. With so much of improvement with symptoms. Do not listen to your doctors, they maybe helpful at the beginning or during the worst flare to get your body back to normal; BUT not on a long term. What works best for IBD is dietary changes. Yes SCD works!
I noticed several of the foods you mentioned are not allowed on the specific carbohydrate diet such as wheat, rice, potatoes, oats, kefir and hemp seed. Are you saying that the diet helped you heal but now that you are healed you don’t follow that diet and that’s why you eat those things now?
This was awesome. thanks. pls do answer my question from below?? i wud like specifically your reply:)
Why is this about Moms? Other people have crohns… not just women.
Hi,
I was recently diagnosed with Crohn’s. Do u use any medicine or drug when u don’t have any symptoms.is it necessary to use medicines life long?
i just dont get why mainstream doctors don’t even suggest this as 1 of their 1st suggestions before them dreaded drugs that can cause so many side effects to your body..??
How can scd allow monosachrides when they feed candida yeast??
I feel obliged to comment on your videos to share the story. I began the scd diet 6 years ago and have been completely symptom free and healing without any drugs. I now follow a scd/paleo diet and continue to achieve great success and health. I hate to think where my health would be now if I had have listened to all of the advise given by doctors. People need to know about this diet option and if you are curious it may be well worth your time and effort to give it go.
I have had crohns for over thirty years I have not gone into deep with my diet like you have but I eat red meat, pork and chicken, cheese. potatoes, bread, eggs if I eat any veggies they have to be cooked good and I do not eat fruit. when I had the crohns in the seventy’s and the eighty’s there were not much in the way of meds to help so you had to go with your gut fillings if you know what I mean. If I were to eat what was called a healthy diet I would get sick I had to stay with a high fat diet. I also smoked cannabis it would ease my stomach and help me eat it lessened the pain and I think it helped with the inflammation. now I have fistula crohns and in my late forty’s I stopped smoking and within four years I had to have a bowel resection and a fistula had grow into my bladder and was letting waste into bladder so when I would pee I was pass waste. thanks good luck
Hey I’ve been on the SCD diet for 2 and 1/2 years and I make almond bread does anybody has any problems with it?
Thank you for sharing your experience. I am also suffering from Crohn’s. Did kefir make you bloated and cramps in begging when you first started because I tried kefir for so many times but always so many rounds of BM trips.
How is it with this diet and IBS, my main problem is constpation.. Thats why i started eating vegan, hclf high raw 4 years ago, but I still have servere problems with my digestion and bloating.. I dont know what ever will help anymore.. Im 42 years now..
Can we email each other so I can have support through this? Ahhh. I’m just starting. It’s intimidating thank you for this video!!!
Hemp seeds were not considered scd “legal”. SCD helped me until ate high oxalic acid foods (ground almonds, peanut butter…). Did you make SCD 24hr yogurt (reduces sugars in the milk)?
Thank you Erica for your courage to help all us Crohnys out there. Your videos are awesome. Stay great!!
The results from both studies seem to be about the same, or worse, than placebo.
For the patients who improved, I’d like to know what thier diets were like before they changed over; something tells me that if they moved from a Standard American Diet to anything other diet then they would have experienced improvements regardless.
I also did this diet about 20 years ago and stayed on it for 7 months. I had Ulcerative Colitis and was tired of the expensive medicines and prednisone. This diet cured me of UC completely and I learned that all my problems stem from an inability to digest lactose. I can’t say enough about this amazing diet! My doctor of course told me that it didn’t matter what I ate, which is utter nonsense.
I went over 20 years in my twenties thinking my Chrons was in remission with the ‘odd stomach ache’ thinking it was nothing. BUT the Chrons was actively destroying my small and large bowel creating numerous strictures. I ended up at 47 with Colon cancer and a large Chrons mass of adhesions. I had radical surgery. I am now 61 and JUST found out about SCD 4 months ago. I am being monitored by a gastroenterologist since my cancer which was 15 years ago. They tried drugs and more drugs and I have been chronically declining. Now I am symptom free on SCD and Humira. Please continue to be monitored and have your inflammatory markers checked regularly. Good luck to you!
But im vegan
I feel like this can easily be done on a vegan diet
Where can i find a complete list of foods that you can & can’t eat?
Thanks for this video. Just started the diet about a week ago, but my sensitivities are FRUITS AND VEGGIES! Inflammation has disappeared and I feel better, but I’m starting to flip out a bit with so little food I can have. Im healing from leaky gut and I know this diet is the answer to complete healing but omg, lol. I have been starving a bit the last two days, but I refuse to give up!
Thanks for sharing, i have been on the carnivore diet, recently started adding in sauerkraut and ginger into my diet
Garlic seems to be one of my triggers along with orange juice even hummus will put me crook for a few days if I eat it
Hi, thank you, again, for your videos. My husband is on SCD for few weeks now and he feels almost as before the Colities flare up started. He does not have any active diarrhea. Can you please let me know if you took any supplements, like probiotics, in your journey to health? I made SCD yogurt and did not tolerated it very well, maybe too soon? One more question do you think is too soon to start with Cottage cheese, dry pressed? Thank you very much!
Its amazing how different crohns patients are sensitive to different things. I cannot handle dairy & cant even handle lactose free yogurts.
This diet (pre GAPS) is awesome and not just for autism but autoimmune as well, working for me with MS.
Thank you for this. It is very encouraging. I’m just finishing SCD intro.
I am a vegetarian i don’t eat eggs or milk but i will try this diet i want to get rid of this bloody diseases asap
Thank you for the video!!!! Could you please post a link to your blog on fistula??? Please.
Thank you. I have developed SIBO from levofloxacin. Cannot tolerate garlic and onion. Did you have SIBO?
I’m 58 and have had crohns my whole life from age 10. Here is the truth about Crohns. What works for 1 may not work for another. You can go into remission for as long as 20 years and think you no longer have it and then wham it comes back. It’s a very depressing disease. Each individual has to find on their own what works for them. Diet will help and fasting as well but with this disease it can and usually will come back no matter what you do. It’s amazing how good or bad your health can change in only 24 hrs. Good luck to everyone with this crappy disease.
@Erika (Erica?) I want to thank you for taking the time to make this video. I just picked up the book at the library yesterday at the advice of my GI doc; my body wouldn’t tolerate any of the meds for my UC and I cannot afford the infusions. (I think he is a genuinely good man for recommending it to me and was surprised that he did since I think most GI docs wouldn’t).
I’m starting the diet and your video gives me so much hope❣ I’ve been bedridden for way too long and this disease is ruining my life entirely. People don’t understand until they have it: no nourishment/hydration/sleep and your body effectively becomes its own torture chamber during a flare. It’s nothing short of horrific and completely demoralising depending on the severity of the flare.
I’m also staying away from night shades even though she included those on the okay list, so I was glad you mentioned that. Nightshades are inflammatory much like carrageenan can be.
I’m also going to start making my own Kefir, I need to wake up the grains I got in the mail…so it was good to hear you mention that as well.
Thanks again and wish me luck! All the best to you in the new year Angela
Hello! I’m Anthony.I did -45 lbs in one week.Go to aidadiet.com
I am here to learn more about SCD because my son is having a chron’s flare right now. He started the SCD diet but not seeing immediate results. He is bleeding with diarrhea. He doesn’t have stomach cramps or gas. Please help anyone? What will him to get a formed stool. We are eliminating then peanut butter until he gets better. Thank you… also, how long before we see the bleeding diminish? We really want to continue the SCD diet. We don’t want the biologics. Thank you.
Hi
I am starting this diet Tom to try to combat a stomach issue I am having. As I am a weight lifter, do you think having a medium to high protein diet I can still enjoy the benefits? Also do you recommend hemp protein?
I’m now taking a t spoon of Manuka honey every morning and at night when I remember to take it I had no indigestion yesterday and no stress pain either yay cool that it works
Well many of us dont have family..so we gotta do it alone..dont tell folks we need some1.
I’ve had Crohn’s disease for 31 years and have never been in remission (except for during my 2 pregnancies) I’ve been on imuran for more than 15 years. Although no major flare ups… I’m plagued with bouts of diarrhea or constipation & tired most of the time.
I’ve read the book by Elaine (read it a couple times over the years) but I’m scared to commit to the diet. I have a family to cook for and work 4 days a week.
I tried (half heartedly) over 20 years ago go but it was very difficult finding the right things… Perhaps it would be easier now than many years ago when I tried it as I know there are many more options for food now.
I am currently symptom free… I am wondering… can I start the diet eating all the allowed foods or do I still need to start the introduction diet and add in other things gradually??? It would be much easier and less doable if I could just start out eating all the “allowed” foods.

I have only just been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and am finding your videos really good and helpful I often feel mis understood when it comes to other people understanding just how sick I really am with having this disease I had a go at my boss over this yesterday cause she wanted me to do a really early shift over the long weekend and I felt the stress of having to make it on time to do that for her would be really bad for my health she walked out in a huff and was not impressed with me she has irritable bowel disease so I thought she would have been understanding over my situation but I was wrong
Would love a video demonstrating your whole chicken and vegetable meal
The diet has helped my keep my celiac disease symptoms under wraps for about 10 years now. I eat gluten-free and on the SCD diet and I feel so great!
Hey, ive been on remicade for 3 years, and it worked great. However im starting to experience symptoms again, should i go on this diet and get off the remicade? Thanks
Wow. I was amazed by the tropical fruit. I live in Florida and bananas make me feel better but not so much apples lol thank you for sharing. I was diagnosed with colitis 3 years ago.And it’s so hard for me to come up with recipes and theres isnt many online
Also the language used in the beginning… “what people ‘’might describe as’ processed food” that’s very sneaky. We all know canned foods/frozen foods and pantry items are a cocktail of chemicals proven over and over to be toxic to humans. Please stop misleading the people.
I tried the specific carbohydrate diet for two months and it worked. Then it stopped working. I tried eating Larabars but had a bad reaction to it. Im gonna try it again with taking immodium. I also had to take Lirhium and antipsychotics because my stomach problems started when I was under alot of stress. I ended up having a mental breakdown.
Thank you!!! For sharing!! I have so much hope right now… which I haven’t had in a long time. ❤️❤️
