I loved this soup as a child. My grandmother had a cellar full of it she jarred from her garden. She called it “diet soup”. She could never understand why I loved it so much but I did. I had no idea why she called it diet soup and didnt bother asking. I still love the soup but not the effect it has on me. I dont remember being so farty after eating it when I was younger. Now I have to clear my schedule for a few days before enjoying a kettle. I’ve never used it for weight loss. I just like the taste.

Oh yes you added salt. Bullion is 99.9999999 percent sodium, as is the onion soup mix (yes exaggeration).

My memaw ate this all the time! She tried to get me to try it one time but I didn’t. She’s no longer with us, but she did lose a lot of weight eating this. Over 100 pounds
After making this soup for a long time and I’ve made some changes to the recipe that I would like to share with you all.
Here are some of changes I made:
1) Instead of using canned tomatoes (which sometimes contains high fructose corn syrup). Buy whole tomatoes and chop them up instead.
2) Concerned about the MSG/other ingredients in the bullion cubes? Use Beef broth instead and salt it up to your own liking
3) Use onion powder instead of the onion soup mix. Doing this prevents weird ingredients from going into the soup
4) Other negative or low foods that I add are kale and carrots
5) If you like food on the spicy side, add diced jalapenos and/or cayenne pepper.
6) Finally, add some smoked paprika to give some smokiness to the soup.
P.S. wear some goggles or chop the onions under the stove with the fan on to prevent tears.

If I was you, I would replace 70% of the fruit with eggs. There is too much sugar in sweet fruits. Protine and vegetables is a good option, and the occasional orange or banana.

He eating fruit as a snack not a bag of crisps. With a little creativity you can make health meals with veg that taste good. Use both chicken broth & tomato sauce with a load of vegs YOU LIKE. A touch of wild rice for added flavor. Add Soya protein softened with broth to get added protein. The main thing is to burn more calories than you eat.

Part of the problem is the negative image of the word cabbage. Just make a good vegetable soup that includes cabbage and it won’t sound so bad. I had to lose 2 stone quickly before I could have an operation and I achieved it easily eating nothing but home-made vegetable soup. The surgeon was delighted that I’d managed it. it’s still my go-to way of eating when I need to shed some timber. BTW, the soup you made looks delicious.

Tip: make the soup without the cabbage. The soup won’t stink up! Just warm up a cup of soup daily and add some cabbage. It will be fresh and crunchy.
I wouldn’t go a whole week without carbs, because after 2 or 3 days your body actually also starts burning your muscles for energy, rather try 2 days on the diet and then 2 days off or something:D

Its all about calories in and calories out. Even if the food is healthy you can eat too much of it the point of the soup is that its extremely low in calories while being very high in volume meaning that you can fill yourself up without ingesting a large amount of calories. However if you make up for the sudden drop in calorie intake with the calories from fruit then the whole diet and experiment becomes pointless. Not saying that you could have possibly eaten enough fruit to make up for the calories of a normal diet (unless it was bananas) but you did not specify the amount of fruit you ate but instead said you ate it throughout the day and ate it a lot. So it leads me to believe that the results of this 1 week experiment was messed up.

I made this, since I’m still at home due to coronavirus pandemic, to lose a few pounds. All I’m going to say is, I APPLAUD ANYBODY WHO MAKES THE ENTIRE 7 DAYS! I don’t know how you ate this tasty soup but anyone who successfully did, ! I did it for one whole day and had to literally stop because I didn’t want the next day to come knowing what was waiting for me in the fridge. I got up and dumped the nasty stinky soup down the garbage disposal. I will have a laugh about it with my husband but we wondered how people could eat this for an entire 7 days, how? Good luck to anyone wanting to try it…I couldn’t.

No bacon, no cheese, but you can use a spread of butter. You still lose the weight….not sure what he was trying to pull here. Does he think the diet is a joke?

my darling, reason 2 and reason 1 collide a little bit… using the lid while making the soup? yes, of course, but warming it up in the microwave? No, or you’ll lose more than leaving the lid on in the other reason.. just an advice, I know it’s not easy, but try to avoid microwaves, they’re harmful!
My mom makes this only tomatoe sauce and the soup its self without veggies, is that healthy??
I would never warm up in microwave… it tastes nasty after:-! also I pretty much dislike veggies, I live in cold climate, so I eat lot of meat and fatty foods, but soups with this style is still great:P
I make Russian borscht, уха, щи, and American soup dishes as well every weekend. I just rotate them to keep it interesting. And I eat soup every single day. I love soup and will for the rest of my life probably eat soup every day.
Soups is the best way to incorporate vegetables for those who don’t like em and it will make you strong…i love soups

If you look at cultures where they have soup regularly you also tend to notice that it keeps you slim.

Thank you for sharing what has worked and what makes sense for you. I have tried various diets/eating plans over the years, but to be honest, this makes the most sense (sure I’m new to it, but tell me what doesn’t make sense?). Eat natural stuff that is nutrient dense and eats less stuff that is less nutrient dense. From the little I’ve tried, the more nutrient dense I eat, the less hungry I am. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on soups!
I enjoy your videos. I downloaded your booklet: MY FAVORITE HEALTHY RECIPES AND COCKTAILS! Many of the recipes call for olive oil which surprised me as I thought that processed oils were to be eliminated on a Nutritarian diet. I’m confused.

Hi there, I did what you said and bought the book “The End of Diabetes”. Great book there is still a lot I don’t understand.
I bought a “fast food” veggie bowl at Walmart called Nourish bowls, Sesame Sriracha, by a company called Mann’s. It was delicious, containing Broccoli Carrots, Napa Cabbage, Kohlrabi, Sugar Snap Peas, Brown Rice, now I know it has somethings we don’t need…..oil and sugar. I would love it you could do a Sesame and Sriracha sauce that would have a sweet taste and still be within the boundaries of the Nutritarian diet.

Hey Cheri, excellent video, good content. What people could also add to soups or salads to make them more satiating are sweet and purple potatoes. Both varieties are packed with micro and macro nutrients, and relatively low in calories with respect to this high level of nutrition. They are also loaded with antioxidants.
I think mindset is huge with any diet.
I once fasted for 1.75 days and thought it was hell; then later fasted for 7 days and it was way easier.
(After my Dad went 2 weeks, I felt like a wimp, and he said its all mental… “You have to have the mindset that you’re just burning stored fat).
I know this sounds weird, but if you make yourself regularly think about people that went through the Great Depression, the dust bowl, stuck on a deserted island, or were in a concentration camp, any diet seems easy. Look up testimonials on YouTube of people that went through those things. People in the holocaust were given one bowl of soup per day! That’s it. And it was mostly water (very little veggies). Watch some videos of people that went through that and it will make you appreciate simple veggies. I read a story once of a kid in the depression, that prayed he could have TWO potatoes instead of one.

Dude cabbage soup is awesome the soup works. Use jalapeno peppers and soy sauce with mustard. Yum
Day 4: 7lbs gone.
Added some mushrooms and jalapeños to add a bit of flavor.
I would say day two was the toughest. It was scary because all I could think about was food the entire day. Couldn’t really believe that.
It’s as if I was a addict looking for a fix.
Doing this but not all out crazy. Will still eat chicken breast added with it bc i still want the proteins. Planning to lose maybe 1 or 2 lbs a week instead. 11 lbs is just not healthy for my body. Thx for the vid man.

I’m binge watching these cabbage soup videos right now. Last year I had nothing but soup for lunch every day (because it was quick and easy to grab at work). I love soup, I love fruits and vegetables, so I’m thinking about giving this diet a whirl when I get paid. This is something I can see doing once a month alongside my normal exercise and weightloss diet.
I have been on Cabbage soup for week, all is going very good……

11 lbs lost is great results. i have been doing it for 3 weeks now but eating (cheating) too much other stuff. i have lost 2 lbs.
Was this filling enough or did you still feel hungry? I would try this because I don’t mind eating the same thing every day, but hunger might be a problem…
Once you eliminated the carbs, it is a no brainer. The pounds shed off.

You should be eating all these things in your diet anyway….I use all these veggies…everyday..I dont see what the big sacrifice is all about…maybe cause you are eating garbage everyday…piazza..burgers..fast food…junk…When a man is poor cabbage soup is manna from God…learn to be poor..then you will appreciate life..
I so appreciate this review. I thought I had the limit the fruit I could have to those lower in calories but I saw what you guys had and I want to try the soup again so now I will add a new set of fruits to the diet.
I do a soup or salad or combo every night with very little meat. I save the meat for lunch or breakfast. This helps me loose weight without being so extreme. Its all about calories and keeping the carbs down enough to loose. I also eat very light on days im not working very hard.2 low cal meals with the heavy one ay lunch. Like a steak or chicken
I have one thing to say……..think about a dog. A dog has to eat the same thing every single day. Here a kibble….there a kibble. YUUUK!

Shorten the time…use a Pressure Cooker. 20 Minutes would do it!
It seems like a no carb diet. Try the carnivore diet, nothing but different cuts of beef.

I like regular boiled cabbage I eat it alottt the key to good boiled cabbage is only using like a half of inch of water in the bottom of the pot
