Atkins is a good short term solution, but one needs complex carbohydrates. A modified version of this long term would be fine. But 20 net carbs on induction is being stretched out to months by those who feel if they do it longer, they’ll achieve results quicker. I’m doing low carb no more than 6 months. Truly the idea of no pasta or bread indefinitely seems unsustainable.

I have found atkins easier to stick with.. My main concern with keto was the ridiculous amount of fat they recommended, it is in fact totally unnecessary too include so much fat-good or bad fat in your diet. no fat bombs, no coffee with fats, not every meal and snack is fat, just good food without too many carbs. atkins does include a lot of salads and vegetables including good fats. I have lost weight have so much energy and my bloods are perfect. No I don’t do the atkins products as im happy to make my food from scratch. I think anyone looking at this should do there homework and look at the recipes on the atkins website xxx

Having read Dr. Atkins written book, he explained ketosis decades ago. Some discrepancies from it that I see here referring to the original Atkins. He strongly says to not eat aspartame, Does say you can use some artificial sweeteners that you have to count them one packet has one carb, I have to turn to the book on which sweeteners you can have. Does not recommend processed meats or to at least check the carb and sugar content of bacon/sausage or sandwich meats. He Says he wants you to get most of your carbs from 2 to 3 cups of green leafy vegetables. He would not be very happy with all these Atkins products the company sells today. It seems as though they are trying to sell a new diet where they want you to buy all their stuff. Dr Atkins says in his book when you go to the grocery store stick to the outside of the aisles. Don’t go down the middle isles full of processed high sugar and grain crap. Also he does explain how fats are good, when you eat fats no insulin is released compared to a lot of protein releasing some insulin. He recommends the best oil for Atkins is extra virgin olive oil. If anyone wants to read what dr Atkins made so successful get a copy of dr Atkins new diet revolution. Atkins says in his own words it’s not for carnivores.

Dr. Robert Atkins literally uses the word “ketosis” many, many times in his book and describes it as the guiding principle of his diet. It’s where I first heard the word ketosis and learned what it is. Atkins is a ketogenic diet because “Ketogenic” is not a brand, it’s a bio chemistry term.

By the way, free range eggs need to state: Free Range. Most of us get conned into thinking that eggs with a brown shell are free eggs. They are not. Instead the truth is that there are hens that produce eggs with a brown shell. And it doesn’t mean free range. I just buy eggs with a white shell, cheaper and all the same. That’s the difference. Keto eaters eat tons of fat, we even drink coffee with butter, MCT oil and coconut oil (bulletproof coffee) to ensure fat intake. Atkins focuses on meat or lots of protein. Keto, not so much. Atkins can put you in KETOSIS yes but it can also cause Gluconeogenesis, which will kick you out of Ketosis. Which is eating too much PROTEIN (MEAT) which believe it or not can convert into sugar inside your body.

It’s more important that I have a fatty meat (Salmon, sardines) than eat meat in general. FAT macro category is the most important for KETO. I eat tablespoons of butter, olive oil and coconut oil as well as olives and cream cheese more than meat.
So no, KETO /ATKINS ARE NOT THE SAME.

With all respect Dr. Jockers, before commenting and comparing Keto and Atkins I feel to be genuine you have to read “Atkins Essentials and Atkins Diabetic Revolution”. Those two books at the very least. Many if not all of your characterizations of Atkins are false and a misrepresentation of the Atkins program. He talked about the difference between the overconsumption of protein and fat. A huge amount of vegetables were promoted in phase 1. Many other false statements. Dr. Robert Atkins was a man way before his time. If you did the research (which I can see you haven’t) Then I would feel that you have done your due diligence on behalf of your followers. I appreciate the work you are trying to do but you like so many doctors commented on Atkins when they only thought they knew what he was doing but never invested the time to fully find out. It wouldn’t take a whole lot of time but it really would add to your own knowledge and ability to impart greater help to your followers. Dr. Atkins saved so many people’s lives during his lifetime. Keto made some additions to Atkins with the advances in sweeteners and things like carbalose flour. But the firm foundation is all Atkins. You don’t need to put down Atkins to build your own image. It isn’t adding anything to you at all.

When you say a 3:1 fat ro protein ratio is that in grams? I have macros set at 70% fat 25% protein and 5% carbs but when it comes to grams my fats and proteins are similar.

after the two week intro, i started going to the gym, adding a little more carbs and feel better. lost 25lbs in 7 weeks. i don’t look at atkins as forever, but more a kickstart. exercise and moderation will always trump crash diets

I agree that Atkins didn’t distinguish food quality, but it also doesn’t tell people to not good quality food. Realistically, it is still better for people to reduce their grain-based carbs than to not do so and not everyone can afford the organic, free-range, grass-fed meats. An industrial egg for breakfast is still way better than an industrial-produced cereal.

It is a devious diet. You might get thinner but for certain people it will increase the risk of premature death from all cause mortality. The Atkins foundation has been sued already, more may come.
i disagree with your slide at the 10:00 mark. I read all 3 of the Atkins books and he explains ketosis and using ‘fat” as a fuel. He also put a HUGE emphasis on vegetables as your source of carbs. I remember taking the little shopping guide to my local grocery store and talking with the produce manager who also was unfamiliar with a lot of the veggies in the book I think the lack of access to different veggies made it easy for people to just skip that part of the diet back then.I know in my area that was Before Whole Foods and Sprouts came to town. Still dont know what endive is but i know what jicama is now! and yes there was a huge portion of meat allowed (3-5 oz) but it was in combination with a large portion of veggies at every meal. Cant speak on the milk since i dont drink milk but i remember cheese being allowed. When asked now what the difference is between Ketogenic diet and Atkins I tell folks there isnt one.
I don’t identify with just one diet, cause I follow a combination of Keto/Atkins/Fasting, but here’s what I do:
I eat 2 meals a during 5 to 6 hours in a day. Some days, I eat fish or chicken, absolutely no beef, sometimes I eat black/peruvian beans only with green salads and fresh avocado, steamed veggies, vegetable soups with cabbage and cauliflower, the only fruits I have are organic berries and sometimes papaya for a treat. I drink water and black coffee, no sugar. I take a multivitamin and pro pre biotics.
As well as causing disease, they make you want to eat more as your blood glucose (sugar) levels continually spike and trough very quickly and unevenly.
Will Atkins Diet work in losing weight even if you’re not exercising?
Atkins is my go to!!! It is very sustainable and realistic however I sometimes start sneaking in carbs over time and realize the weight gain then I just go back to induction. I love being in ketosis!!!!! So much energy, low low mood swings, and I’m burning my own fat!! Thanks Dr. Atkins for everything.
Dr Atkins had a bad heart all his life but because of the way he ate he lived longer than he would have. He died after slipping on ice and hitting his head.
I have many questions. First being, since my birthday is coming up soon, my family always buys cake and ice cream, and I would feel bad if I didn’t eat it. Second is school. I’m still in high school and I have no idea what they put in their food, and I don’t really have enough time in the morning. Those are just the main ones I have. It’ll be extremely difficult to go without a single cheat day, and I need to lose weight.
I’ve done Atkins before, and was really impressed with the results I got. The inly problem I ran into is I began to get very light headed. In fact, I feel like I’m floating and I can’t stand that feeling. Is there something I am doing/not doing, or a supplement I can take to help with this? Thanks for your help.
If you read the book Atkins always specified using the real stuff as much as possible, butter instead of margarine etc. As well as you use a lot of veg and salads. Keto just Akins with a different name. I lost so much weight on Akins and I felt great while doing it. Atkins all the way and it is easier to maintain Atkins than Keto.
Atkins if temporary only if you don’t follow the recommendations in his book to maintain your weight loss.

I’ve lost a little over 14lbs on Atkins and nearing the end of my 2nd month. Because I took a small break and am getting closer to my goal, the weight loss is slowing down but I’m happy with the results. I was on a plateau for awhile and just could not get the weight down, that’s why I picked up Atkins in the first place. It’s helped so much. In total, I’ve lost over 40lbs since deciding to lose weight.

While Atkins had a bad heart due to a viral infection the coroner still said he had an amazing cardiovascular system. He died of a slip and fall. Atkins doesn’t recommend we eat no carbs, just limit the intake.
It is deliciously good diet. However, I eat a lot of salads with the protein and fat. By the way, lions eat vegetables, too. When they kill their pray, they eat what half digested vegetables inside their pray’s belly. Humans after all are carnivores.

I had been on this program 11 years ago and lost 134 lbs. When I had to stop working due to MS, yep you guessed it, gained the weight back plus. What got me back to this program? This is a lot simpler than it sounds. There is no reason whatsoever
to pay for a book or a diet plan. Simply cut the carbs down to almost
zero, one piece of toast in the morning for example. Regular and
inexpensive chicken in breadcrumbs with a nice salad with coleslaw,
tomatoes etc. Eat pretty much as you want. Cheap yoghorts, cheese on
thins for a snack, as much coffee as you want. Like the lady says, don’t
be scared of fat, olive oil or even full cream. It wont hurt you. Its
the root vegatables and the bread that make you fat and you can
live without them. Feeling really hungry? Have an orange or tangerine
with drinking chocolate at night, No one wants to go to bed starving. I
have no liking for salads myself but with a whole beef burger (no bun)
it ain’t so bad. I was very overweight and type 2 diabetic, horribly
diabetic and now I’ve lost 40 pounds and not diabetic any longer, no
Metformin and no Insulin, I’m cured and it was all so simple. I wish I
could say I got this advise from my own doctor or practice nurse but in

Keto made it tough for me to get into Ketosis. My body is EXTREMELY resistant and holds on to carbs for dear life. The nuts were a no no. On Atkins it was simple, meat, green veggies (20 grams and under), butter, cheese, eggs. I simply stuck to that and it worked immediately. Only issue with Atkins, is it’s more for those that have a lot of weight to lose. It takes weight off too fast.
Atkins is the only diet that ever worked for me, and I didn’t eat fatty meats on it. I didn’t eat pork. I ate very clean. And I felt amazing. I am currently 7 months pregnant and I have gained so much weight lol I cant wait to have the baby so I can get back on Atkins. It’s actually a fun way of eating, if you do it right. Because it is so rewarding, it just changes your body and confidence right away. I got my mom on it, and it saved her life!

seems like Atkins is actually the same as keto, I’m very familiar with keto but I’m not sure if I’m mistaken
so in a nutshell, Keto can be described as a high fat vegan diet with a side serving of protien! lol
low carbs suck. Your brain needs carbohydrates to function. It needs sugar. Ever been on this diet and end up binging? that’s because your brain is trying to tell you to fucking eat. Then you end up in a vicious cycle of gaining and losing and being unhappy. You need carbs to survive. How does eating a bunch of fat to replace good carbs from fruits and stuff make any sense?
This is where I’m lost. None of my labels say sugar alcohol. Simple sugar so you don’t subtract that sugar? Just the fiber? Total carbs 20 fiber 10 sugars 5 so net carbs would be 10? Or or 5??? I NEED HELP!!!

I need to lose 22lbs to be at my ideal weight. I have never had this problem before. Slowly slowly the company I kept encouraged me to eat sugar. I think I am now addicted..Day 2 Atkins today..I am confident. God bless Dr Atkins..He knew and he knew he knew.

i’ve been doing low carb for 2 years now and lost 90 lbs in 1.5 yrs and kept my weight. i even lost 5lbs more in one week when i started over again to loose some 20 more lbs. my resting heart rate went down from 80-110 to a steady 60 all day. my blood sugar levels went down from 110 to 80 and when i do sports it stays at 70 for 2 days even after meals. i have a lot more energy and was able to perform a 1 hour workout with an average heartrate of 140 (min 135, max 160, never going below 135 for 60 minutes) just after four 30 minute workouts and i never did any sports before, not even when loosing the 90 lbs. and i wasn’t exhausted at all. can’t think of any healthier way to live and feel. just my 2 cents..

I’ve been on <20 carbs/day for 3 months now. The first 3 days were the hardest but I stuck it out. I've lost 40 lbs. and 10" off my waistline... it's been incredible.
Just got back from my endocrinologist. Started the Atkins/Keto way of eating in April. I’ve lost over 30#, a1c is now 6.7, neuropathy is gone. I’m off all insulin and oral DM meds except metformin. Blood sugars are normal and stable. Blood pressure was 160’s/90’s, now 127/71. Cholesterol is half of when i started. I no longer need a statin. Even skin keratosis I’ve had for 3 years is gone after a few weeks on this. This way of living saved my life and has many others. Sugar is killing us. Try cutting out bread, pasta, milk. Go easy on the fruit. Start eating a high fat diet, moderate protein and low carbs. It really has some wonderful dishes to try. You can eat out about anywhere. This diet is recommended for children with seizures, inflammatory illnesses including arthritis, IBS, cardiac problems, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and even cancer since cancer feeds off of sugar. I am never going back to a low fat, high carb diet again. This works! And no cravings! Shame on you ADA for advocating this lie. It’s hard to stand for truth when your funding comes from drug companies and sugar producers. Picked up your cookbook at the library, 43 carbs for 1 serving of one entree! More than i can eat in a day! Shame, shame. People trust you.

I really admired Dr. Atkins he was a great business man, he was able to make a fortune which he left to his widow. But he was not able to cure himself, he was obese, had cardiovascular disease and was in very poor health in general. I would not take advise from people advising on the theory of Atkins, it would be plainly stupid.

7:02 “I stuck too it religiously for three years and lost and kept off 15 pounds”. THREE YEARS TO LOSE 15 POUNDS?! Not worth it. So basically a stone and a bit in three years. Thirty six months? That’s not even half a pound weight loss a month.
I totally agree with the premise of this diet, but I’m suspicious of the branded bars and shakes. It would be a nice option for occasional treats that have been vetted for the diet, but I’m also thinking you can’t have your cake and eat it too.

Well this is a load of lies isn’t it.
First off this diet doesn’t work in the long term (look at Mr Atkins himself who was overweight and had a cardiac arrest) people lose weight fast and then it comes back on and is hard to shift. Not only that but it increases people’s chances of diabetes.
Every cell in your body needs the sugar that comes from fruit and broken down carbs, this is why people living on rice and fruit in poorer areas of the world (where to raise and feed animals for meat would be robbing their family of the food available) makes them lean.
These people are just trying to sell their powders and books to you. This idea you need lots of meat protein to be healthy is also nonsense, look at a mountain gorilla. This is because protein is made of amino acids which is present in all plant based food (where do you think all the largest herbivorous land animals get their protein from?) when we eat the meat of an animal we have to break their protein back down to amino acids to then build it back down to our own protein. If you eat a good amount of greens, bananas and fruits you will be getting more than enough to build protein.
If you do want to lose weight then the opposite of this diet is true, a Vegan lifestyle (also one that is not cruel to animals as an added bonus) that is plant based will do the job and will maintain your health for life, not just for a year or so. Cut out the meats and wheats and oils and dairy and get on the green juicing vegetable curries, salads and smoothies. Do your own research on this first before trying to lose a few pounds fast while weakening your heart and messing up your insulin levels.

Carbs = sugar. When you eat carbs they are turned into sugar in the body (by glycolysis in a very short space of time).
You are referring to the modified Atkins. I do agree at that time there wasn’t very much understanding of sweeteners and I feel that we still haven’t got a great solution to that problem. Stevia tastes awful. Coconut sugar is great but the carbs are still higher than desired. if someone has a solution for that I would be grateful to find out about it. However, it is incorrect to say that even in induction (phase 1 ) the emphasis is on meat and veggies are overlooked. That is simply not correct. There are massive amounts of vegetables that are recommended. There is an exhaustive list published in the book titled the “Atkins Essentials” the recommended amounts are two to three cups per day of raw in addition to one cup of cooked veggies. The problem is the New versions of Atkins which has gone off the beaten path of Dr. Atkins and has essentially thrown the baby out with the bath water. I suggest you look at the originally published materials from Dr. Atkins and his close associates that actually worked hand in hand with him. You are correct about the artificial sweeteners and the Organic movement that took place after his death. But I suggest to you that most of his original work is still extremely valid today. I will also further suggest that in five years time Keto and Paleo will evolve based on new research. He published a book titled “the vita-nutrient solution” as well. Finally, the two people who worked more closely with Dr. Atkins than anyone else were Mary Vernon, MD, CMD, and Jacqueline A. Eberstein, RN. After his death in 2003, they collaborated on a book using his research and experience working with over 60,000 patients preventing and or controlling type 2 Diabetes called “Atkins Diabetic Revolution”. Sorry for the rant, but I take exception to the misinformation and misrepresentation of Dr. Atkins work. His program (it was not a diet) was not about meat and fat. It started a revolution of health and hope for many people who were suffering from Metabolic Syndrome, PreDiabetes and Type 2 Diabetes. Keto and Paleo have come about on the back of Dr. Atkins and the 30 years of research and work he did. I wish you well in your journey, I only hope you can accomplish what he did for humanity.

I think I do a modified version of both these diets. I try to eat clean Whole Foods but I do drink diet drinks because I can’t do water all day and I hate coffee. Vegetable and fruit carbs but no complex carbs or starchy foods.
Atkins (the original plan, not the one with the “sugar alcohol and branded snacks we now see) is the simplest most affective diet. I stick to Induction Phase. Now, I do it for medical reasons. Keto was too complicated with the expensive oils, counting, and added snacks. With Atkins it’s simply meat, butter, eggs, and 20 grams of green veggies. Do NOT touch the Atkins brand stuff, it was never meant on the diet.

I don’t know about the others but I would have had more respect for you if you had simply stated your case and backed it with your own research. Dr. Atkins spent 30 years researching. He was a heart doctor worked with people that had serious problems. He was not focused on those who wanted to “get in shape” or Lose a few pounds. You may want to do real research on Dr. Atkins to learn what you can (his original work, not the redo’s or updates of his work of some others who have changed his work.

I had to lose about 35 pounds so through trial and error I have discovered something that seems to be working so far. I alternate the Atkins diet and 1200 daily calories every other day. So far I’ve lost 1 pound every day for a week, 7 pounds total. Of course I expect to lose less each week after this but the main thing is that the weight is coming off on this plan and not so fast on other diets I’ve been on. And believe me I’ve been on many! On my Atkins day I do not count carbs but I also do not eat anything with carbs except vegetables. I also eat both full-fat and light foods. I don’t consume Atkins bars or shakes, just pure food. On the 1200 calorie day I eat all the carbs I want within the maximum calories allotted. Anyway, so far this plan is working and I am happy!

Idk if it’s cuz I’ve reached what I understand is the second phase but I do cheat and I’m still losing weight. I’m on month 3 and I’m down about 53lbs. I don’t take it to an extreme, closest thing is my Starbucks habit, but I do have like fried chicken occasionally, maybe a piece or two of pizza OCCASIONALLY! I guess that’s the one thing I didn’t agree with. I think you can cheat just don’t eat a package of Oreos. Plus they said in the beginning the cravings for that type of food would go away and i feel it def has
Are you watching TV, on the computer or on your phone when you eat? Are you even looking at your food when you’re eating it? It’s time to disconnect while you eat. Did you know that digestion begins with your eyes? Your eyes see the food and then your mouth produces enzymes in your saliva to kick off the digestion process before you swallow. Oh, and what about chewing? Do you even chew your food before swallowing or are you in such a rush that you just stuff your face? Seriously – be honest with these questions. Aim to chew your food 25 times before swallowing, that’s what teeth are for. You ever feel airy and bloated after you eat? Chewing and actually allowing your food to mix with your saliva instead of scarfing it down in record time can help with that tremendously.

WTF, I love my grassfed butter, but what am I supposed to spread it on if not bread, huh? If you read an Atkins book you will see that a lot of your info in incorrect… and yes if goes thorough the different types of dairy and also stressed healthy fats and most of your net carbs come from foundation vegetables (and it’s a very long list)

I tried the Atkins diet and going into ketosis is horrible… after one workout session while in ketosis I realized that I had no energy and I couldn’t stand the smell of my own sweat. from what I remember my sweat kinda smelled like urine but strong….Once the smell hit me I just figured that the diet couldn’t be healthy….

Since finding the keto diet my very low blood sugar disease is so much better balanced and I’m free from thinking about food constantly and also dropped 25lbs I’m just not a big fan of avocado and enjoy the occasional michelob ultra so unfortunately that puts ketosis at a set back?

I am just starting today, doing induction phase 1, i am ok with low carbs but why can’t i have milk tea? i know excessive caffeine can cause low blood sugar which can make you crave sugar, but i am not really a sweet tooth kind of person, i don’t even like chocolates or ice creams or sweet stuff, u get my point. So having brewed tea, with about 2tbs milk per cup, i have just max 4 cups of tea per day, would that affect my phase 1 with atkins? And what about sugar, sweeteners will do? or best not having any sugar?? confused.

I disagree with alot of this info!!! Read the Atkins book from the 60. Lots of green veggies and no process ed foods. I spent three months on research of dr Atkins. Doesnt say corn oil etc ok. You really need to read his original book he made before he passed. So much of this info on Atkins is wrong. After he died his company changed alot of his info. Go back to his original book. Its awesome.! Been doing for yrs. Off diabetic meds etc. Weight loss great. Please dont put down Atkins. Again after he died the compsny made all of his snack treats different. I don’t eat those!!! No one should. Enjoy Atkins and the Keto diet but do it right! So much bad info on both diets out there
Been on Atkins for 3 years now. Lost 70 lbs. Still need to lose 60 more. Diagnosed 30 years ago with acid reflux it totally went away in 3 days on Atkins. BP and blood work are now great.
My husband and myself were personal patients of Dr. Atkins. My husband had malignant hypertension and was on all kinds of meds. After six weeks on the diet, we had both lost considerable weight and my husband was able to get off his meds. I was pre-diabetic before the diet but my sugar numbers plummeted on this diet. I am sitting here almost in tears because this is just yet another thing for me to look at and try and then fail. I wish someone could come up with a video that includes letting people know that if they have a hormonal and metabolic disorder to being with then it really doesn’t matter what you do. It really does feel like that sometimes. I have Polycystic Ovarian System with is such a terrible thing to have as a woman. One of the main symptoms is WEIGHT GAIN AT AN ACCELERATED RATE. You gain weight faster than most people. I have seen gynecologists and an endocrinologist and they have both told me that is just very very very hard to lose weight. One told me to just cut out all the refined carbs. He said specially white pasta, white bread, white rice, white potato. So I did and I gained weight. I make sure that most of my food is homemade. I have healthy fats all the time. I have green vegetables all the time. I have so much protein but still I am stuck with this body….don’t know what to do anymore. So unfair that there are women out there who are just born with perfect genes and can eat whatever they want and never gain weight. Just feel like crying about all of this….

I did the Atkins diet just chicken and veg. I went from size 18 to size 14 within about three weeks. My Step dad is trying to do the same as his job doesn’t allow him to be able to do exercise as he’s up for hours then sleeping then work again. So this is pretty good and ill share this video to him

Then you get the carnivore diet saying the complete opposite of this video, that meat ends up being easier to digest for people.. So who do you believe? I don’t think you should believe anything or trust anyone.. they are are all full of shit and they pull out whatever info they choose to make their diet or information look ideal… We all grew up thinking low fat was healthy, now its high fat.. in five years it might be something completely different.. I think people are better off eating balanced and in moderation.. I think common sense suggests that humans evolved into natural omnivores who would eat whatever they got their hands on.

Great advice! You haven’t mentioned anything about eating lots of fruit. Fruit contains lots of natural sugar and I was drinking protein smoothies with different fruits for a long time and found myself gaining weight, the opposite of what I wanted, so I stopped eating a lot of fruit. Can you recommend proper portion sizings of fruit? Much as I like pineapple, I don’t want to consume a whole pineapple in one sitting (my teeth would kill me later!). I’m just starting out on my low carb diet. I hope you can offer me some guidelines. Thank you.
I have gone back to my old weight from 65 kg to 57 now…idk which type of diet im doing…I had been trying to many combination then I came up to that combination of carb and protein in moderation…idk know if its atkin diet,cause it contains veggies and fruites,lots of lentils, zero sugar or carb and zero red meat.I put chicken breast and eggs n nuts in moderation and i am having lots of fish..Using oil only for cooking no fry….in short I cut up the carbs and sugar with red meat,exept that im having other food more or less.no choklate for me./

Atkins is good if you do “strict phase 1” or phase 2 with exercise. Problem going over phsse 1 is to watch saturated fat intake since ketosis can stop. Vegetables with olive or wine oil. Recommend lean meats with microwave fresh vegies like green giant. Atkins frozen meals are ok but not excessive since high sat fat snd net carbs havr 5-7 carbs with half being simple sugars…sure to raise HDL…1 a day on phase 1 is probably ok. Atkins works but over 30 you need to do “some exercise” toseeresul

I am team Atkins. I have tried keto many times and I always ended up eating more than I should because of this huge stupid industry behind it. Atkins is actually telling u to eat as natural as possible but to compete around they started creating this stupid products. If you achieve your weight goals with Atkins then you can think abt Keto, but If you are really bad I don’t recommend Keto, I don’t see big noby changes on that path!!!!
I did both and Atkins gives you better results and you start feeling better sooner. Specially because keto tries to open as much as possible and a lot of people ended up breaking it because of stupid mistakes like Keto cakes bla bla bla…They say that Atkins is not healthy as keto but I don’t agree with that, there is so much Keto fake shit like flours, shakes and stuff all that is very toxic. If you do a hardcore Atkins diet and eat real protein you won’t have problems.

The REAL atkins diet before he died from the head injury, is the only way to go. Dr Atkins had NOTHING to do with the products, don’t use them. Keto is basically phase 3 of the Atkins diet, but with expensive oils thrown in.
I’ve done both and Atkins Induction (Original without products) took the most weight off. Keto was a bit spendy and less effective. Atkins 18lbs in 2 weeks. Keto 8 lbs in two weeks.
All this talk about “Keto” diet is ridiculous. Atkins is a keto diet, he explained the whole process of ketosis. What someone stole his ideas and renamed the diet? Dr. Atkins was a true pioneer. All of what he says in his book hold true today, as they did then. He was continually bashed as being a quack by the mainstream media and medical professionals. The medical professionals at the time, that were bashing him, were the real quacks.

Dr or not. Meat is not hard to digest. In fact I have found it the easiest food to digest.
Notice how it’s always the ones who haven’t even read the atkins book, who are the first ones to criticize it. So I suggest, go and read the book, Dr. Atkins explains everything, not just about the diet itself, but about basic nutrition and healthy living in general. It is a great book, even if you then decide not to follow the diet. I would also say that the reason why most people fail at atkins is simple because they arent disciplined enough, afterall a healthy person is always disciplined.

Both are garbage, the Aktins diet makes you blow up if you ever have a carb in the future, and Keto can cause kidney and liver failure among other health issues in the future.
Avoid eating chemicals, and frozen food filled with preservatives, and you’ll do just fine.

Hey Free Lee! I just started my ketos diet. I took two sunny side up eggs. Later three cups of coffee with milk whitener and tip of spoon sugar. Then I did my gym at cardio 40 minutes. Evening another cup of coffee same way. For dinner I took a full big bowl of mix veg and fruits. 3 strawberries, half green apple, onion, tomatoe, cucumber, yellow carrot and some chick peas mixed with 4 table spoons of full creme as dressing. I did not miss my water intake. Took green tea with lemon and topped off with organic apple cider mother of boges. Am I going fine or

Of course I understand that the carbs are different for different vegetables, but what I mean is can you have all your carbs for the day 18-23 by way of one vegetable? My Dr took me off of Keto when my cholesterol went sky high.I’m not a kid and she told me I was headed for a heart attack. I am watching my carbs but she says Keto is way too much fat FOR ME. I’m sure others can do it successfully but I am just too old to do it I guess.
I did it years go and lost 44 pounds n three months I didn’t feel deprived at all! And I felt amazing!! Atkins diet only has a temporary effect. For a more long term approach you need to follow other diets.

An Atkins advocate told me just the other day that I was most likely torpedoing my weight loss efforts by eating so much sugary fruits. So I ditched the mangoes, grapes, bananas and got rid of my brown rice. And although I ate a lot of strawberries and blueberries with full fat yogurt yesterday, I was three pounds lighter today. However, I am not going to jump to any conclusions until I shed at least 15 more pounds of blubber. Only then will I know this diet is working for me.

Keto is a bootleg Atkins. I lost more weight quick on Atkins eating whenever I wanted and 5×5 training than anything else. Nothing like being able to eat as much meat as and green veg as you want and weening yourself off the sugar to the point your skin clears up, and anything the slightest sweet is overkill.
In the video he says aspartame is ok on Atkins. In the Atkins induction phase 12 rules, rule #9 is “avoid foods or drinks sweetened with aspartame…” also he does warn on the same page “processed meats such as ham, bacon, pepperoni, salami, hot dogs, and other luncheon meats and some fish may be cured with added sugar and will contribute carbs. Try to avoid meat and fish cured with nitrates which are known carcinogens”
Convenience foods “…it is important that you eat primarily unprocessed foods…” unless you are in a rush and need to find an appropriate food.

atkins makes me feel better. allows me to feel full and fast 12 to 14 hrs. keto is way to much work and all of the foods u have to shove down your throat is annoying and get grose after a while… steak and some steamed veggies is easy as fuck and makes me feel better and fuller than a strict keto diet
