Cheers for the Video! Apologies for chiming in, I would love your thoughts. Have you tried Dinanlinson Amazing Look Approach (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a smashing exclusive guide for learning how to quickly lose weight without the hard work. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my old buddy Taylor after many years got excellent success with it.
Nice video content! Excuse me for chiming in, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you heard about Dinanlinson Amazing Look Approach (probably on Google)? It is a smashing one off guide for learning how to quickly lose weight without the hard work. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my close friend Aubrey finally got amazing success with it.
Appreciate video content! Forgive me for chiming in, I would love your thoughts. Have you heard about Dinanlinson Amazing Look Approach (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a smashing one of a kind guide for learning how to quickly lose weight minus the hard work. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my work buddy at very last got excellent results with it.
sped up to 1.5 times the speed this sounds a bit like michael moseley narrating
It’s such a hard technique to stay on because if you are a regular at the gym, the days that you are fasting are dreadful days at the gym! Good luck on this diet, you’ll do great i bet because you’re a good meal planner:)
Nice one! Don’t mention that it’s an Islamic practice for nearly 1500 years. Fasting on Mondays and Thursdays. 5:2 exactly a copy. But make it look a new discovery.
She said that the 5:2 diet is not for diabetics. But I heard that the 5:2 diet was invented by a man who wanted to cure his diabetes 2. Perhaps she was referring to 1.
your video is really the only one out of the thousands i watched about all diets thats answered all my questions especially the workout one
actually, it is a lifestyle which prophet Mohammed peace be upon him talked about on his Hadeeth. to check whether it is true or not, Go to a book named as RIYADH AL SALIHEEN
If u follow any diet for a year you will def see results!!! Simple! There is no magical diet out there! If u stick to any diet and for a whole year u will loose weight!!!!!!!
And you will have no energy to do anything, and when you fast, you train your body to store fat and any weight that you quickly lost through starving yourself will rebound when you start eating properly. 2000 calories is under the clinical starvation amount which the world health organisation sets at 2100 calories.
Lol, if you ate one day and ate nothing the next, thats what i call alternate fasting.
NOT FOR ME I LOVE FOOD FAR TO MUCH! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY!!:)
It is a miracle, I lost 50 pounds as I did?, look here @Emilie Kesinger
I just OMAD to lose 125 pounds and I will never eat another word
I saw this 7 months back This video helped me to lose 65 pounds so far…still 20 more to go! God bless u
6 months in and 12.5 kg down….slowly but surely and no feelings of deprivation due to 5 days of regular eating including ‘treats’
Im gonna give this a go, I need to loose 25kg for a 900 mile bike ride I’m gonna attempt to do in 5 days, as I will be training quiet hard 5 times a week along side this diet, does anyone have any tips on the most energising foods to eat on the 500 cal days?
This is an excellent video, well done. I lost 5 stone in 6 months doing this and minimal exercise. After 3/ 4 weeks I found that I was actually looking forward to my fast days.
Really great video Kevin, a fantastic way to communicate the benefits of this diet! I’ve followed Dr Mosley’s fast diet for just short of 12 months now and have come down to a very trim 13% body fat (BMI 19.3) and loving the fact that at 40 I have the body I last had as a 21 year old. This diet is such a practical way to control your figure & health it’s really worth evangelising over:)
Correction! It wasnt introduced in America. It was introduced by prophet muhammad over 1400 year ago to fast every mondays and thursdays. Tired of american claiming everything to be their discovery lol
You are what you eat, you can see it in the mirror, and will feel the interactions.
Thanks for this post… I’m now interested in buying the book of Dr. Michael Mosley. I also saw his BBC show on “Eat, Fast and Live Longer”. I got introduced to Dr. Vatel Longo, Dr. Krista Varady and Dr. Matthew… they explained about the fasting and its effect to overall health and longevity… great stuff there
Diet supplement companies desperately want as many individuals as possible to to try their new products to demonstrate how good they are at help people lose weight.Well i just found a website that will send free test products to your home, its the best way to get free weight loss programs!:)Get yours here bit.ly/1eT1Xmo?v=bwfuo
Gyms are good for mood and for being around people that want to be or are fit and healthy…I’d sooner make friends with someone in a gym than someone at a pub.
When it started about 1400 years ago by prophet Mohammad pbuh on Mondays & Thursdays. People are still doing it and I started this fast a month ago.
Can you do the fast days any two days you want? I was going to do Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Diet supplement companies desperately want everyone to to try their new products to show that there program really does help people lose weight.Well i just found a website that will send free test products to your home, its the best way to get free weight loss products:)You can get them here bit.ly/1bgOhUZ?v=tqpib
I was wondering that too…. or does it matter which days you fast? She mentioned the second day fast and the seventh, but I have the “5 2 diet book” and it said whenever you want.
Very nice video, Kevin. I’m A little confused about the “quorn”-part… Is it some kind of chicken replacement? I dont think we have that in Denmark. BTW is it essential to eat 2000 calories on normal eating days to loose maximum weight on fasting days? And will I loose more weight if I fast 2 days in a row rather than two separate days?
Keep up the good work…
I beleive there are real benefits to this diet, but as soon as she mentioned “detoxification” I switched off.
I have tried my first day of fasting its so hard im doing the 5.2 plan eating 500calories its harder than I thought but will keep going
thank you so much for this video! I am using this method right now for the first time and I need to lose 30 lbs quickly..thanks to this method I have finally broken my weightloss plateau that lasted me for two looong years. This is my first week trying this. I hope to get to my goal ASAP
Just passed 200,000 views of my video on the Fast Diet. Still bringing in good advertising money.
Is having the fast days always the same critical? I like to move them around depending on what’s going on in my life, but I won’t if it will somehow impede my progress. Thanks for any info (I checked the book, and I couldn’t find any help there)
Also, whilst it is good to eat healthily on your ‘normal’ days it is not vital. I eat basically what I want but I have found that I do not eat as much ‘rubbish’ as I would previously have done. Probably because psychologically I do not want to ‘ruin’ the good job I have done in fasting.
I’m giving the Fast 5:2 diet a go after seeing the amazing results from friends… but it’s the multiple health benefits that makes it so attractive to me. I’m also restricting my sugar intake as sugar is a highly addictive substance… what are your thoughts on sugar?
For me, Intermittent Fasting just fit my lifestyle. I use the 16:8 method because I’m not hungry when I wake up, I love drinking black coffee and I prefer to have larger meals later in the day instead of small meals spread throughout the entire day. For me, I was able to drop 160 lbs while also packing on a decent amount of muscle mass. I’ll probably use IF forever…
Good video with great info BUT It’s not really Fasting is it? By definition “Fasting” means abstaining from all food and drink. This diet is more about calorie restriction for 2 days a week. Intermittent Fasting has been out there for years and is probably more efficient for losing weight and overall health.
I’m a 44 year old male, only slightly overweight. I’ve been doing this for exactly 3 weeks and I’ve lost 3.3kgs. I have found fasting days surprisingly easy, and getting easier. Its working for me.
Excellent video. (In going to church out Pow Toons. I’m on 5:2 diet, and it is working for me. Great first for men as it is not a fussy diet. Check out my Top 10 tips on surviving that first fast day. 5:2 Diet First Fast Day Top 10 Tips
At 2000 kcal/day I already lose 1 pound/week. Not sure why I should eat even less
I’d be interested to know exactly how this eating plan can benefit PCOS sufferers! Does it re-balance hormone levels such as testosterone?
This doesn’t explain the 5:2 fast very well. The fast should last approx 36 hours i.e. if you last eat at 6pm today then over the next 36 hours you can only eat 500 cals female/600 cals male. I finished my supper at 6pm and I will eat no more today. Tomorrow I will use my 500 calories during the day and then go to bed at my usual time. On waking I will then have a normal eating day. I carryout a fast twice a week as recommended. I lost 9lb in three weeks. I am now on my 4th week.
I have the same lest name as you my name is Maddie clendenning
This is modified alternate day fasting, it’s not the same. Your insulin is constantly raised, unlike normal fasting.
I do not see why a type I diebetic should not try this… you would just have to adjust your insulin intake as you change your eating habits, right? ( I got diabetes when I was 5, so I guess I know a thing or two about it:D.. hehe) pls. tell me if you see any reason for me NOT to try this diet!:) because I really find it interesting!
excellent straight to the point informative video. i know a bit about the 5.2 diet and if I didn’t i would be by watching this well informed so thanks.
that’s good I thought they had to be back 2 back. thanks for vid man.
I don’t follow this diet but sometimes I inadvertently do the fasting method of my partner, which is eating only within the 8 hour period and we eat twice at 10am and 6pm. It actually feels pretty good and is much easier than I would have thought.
Ever wondered what all that 5:2 diet fuss was about?

He keeps referring to sugar, but I hardly consume any sugar yet I am overweight.
I am overweight because I have diet high in carbs and quantity.
I would much rather have a cheese or salami sandwich than a chocolate bar.
So I think the whole sugar leads to overeating and weight gain story is over simplified.
Anyway the body turns carbs into sugar in your body(flood sugar/glucose), so it’s not necessary to eat a lot of sugar to gain weight.
Fasting is yet another diet “cult fad”. Fasting stresses the metobolic system and can cause subtle organ damage which can become chronic and gradudually accellerate. A suuggestion I make to you is “partial” fasting. Just skip a few meals but eat “something” during your “fast” day. I have studied dieting and metabolism for 50 years. I personally have been “partial fasting” for decades and that has kept me what I like to call “trimmed”. For your fast day, eat some fruit or an undressed 3 ounce mini salad. Drink plenty of water. “Undressed” means just some raw leafy greens, cucumber, onion, carrot WITHOUT junk like cheese or egg, etc. Btw, Stop being fooled, cheese is quite unhealthy and should rarely be eaten. If your poop is really smelly, or your pee is strong smelling, you are eating wrong. Your “output” should only smell up close, not stink up the whole bathroom. The stink is caused by too fatty a diet.
Have you experienced “Epic Lean Body”? (Go google it) It is a quick way to get rid of fat fast.
You didn’t read it from book wrote in 14th century by God( allah ) in Quran
Thanks for the video, I’ve been doing 16:8 fasting for the last year. When I first start I removed all sugar and carbs from my diet and did the warrior diet which was hard but WORKED!!! Couldn’t sustain that diet because it was much easier eating the same food my kids were eating then preparing different meals all the time. So I now do 16:8 and it doesn’t dramatically help with weight loss, but I feel good.
I’m going to try this diet plan. I have been doing all kinds of diet plan & I still gain the weight., wish me luck!
Kudos for the Video! Excuse me for the intrusion, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you researched Dinanlinson Amazing Look Approach (search on google)? It is a good one off guide for learning how to quickly lose weight minus the normal expense. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my best friend Jordan at last got astronomical results with it.
Do you need to reverse most of your insulin resistance and lose weight before the benefit of Intermittent Fasting makes your set point lower? I’ve actually tried IF and low carb for like 3 1/2 months when I was almost obese and I didn’t lose a single pound.
can you do this without the 500 calorie meal? like a 24 hour fast every other day? or would that have any negative affects on the body?
Can I do 6 days water fast and 1 day eating day but still with discipline every week?
Why do you eat on fasting days?
That’s just cheating surely?
As it is you’re only restricting food two days a week Eat what you want 5 days a week, and eat nothing on the other two days
what should we it then?
how many weeks or days should I fast?
I’d definitely give this a try. My Mom fast at least twice a week. When she fast, it means no food at all, just water. That’s hard. So this fast idea from the Fast Diet is kinder. Actually great to limit to 500 cals on fast days. Will have to get the book now cause you got me curious now. Thanks for the video.
Entertaining and informative, as always, but the video clip is misnamed. There is no discussion of 5:2 fasting in the video.
I have begun the 5,2 but I am wondering if it is ok to have both fasting day consecutively?
I do this anyway due to my appetite….this should be easy for me lol
Do I have/need to eat 600 calories on a fast day?
I like pushing myself to 24 hours no food but is that less beneficial compared to the 5:2 diet with some calories?
How do you get enough potassium in your diet daily on 500 calories
Good summary mate and congratulations on passing the 200,000 views mark.
For an excellent low calorie meat consider kangaroo meat. Assuming of course you can get it in your area for a reasonable price. I use kangaroo burgers on some of my fast days. If like me you have a sweet tooth, check out Stevia if you have not already done so: zero calories, 300 to 400 times sweeter than sugar, and all natural. Just be sure to check for anything added: I only buy and use pure Stevia in powdered form.
I’m into year 6 of what’s now a 10 year plan (originally was 5) to reduce my body fat to less than 20%. I’ve learned that it’s all about fat not weight: consider boxers who can weigh 130kg or more but not an ounce of fat on them. However, I’ll use weight for the sake of demonstrating the effectiveness of a high protein low carb lifestyle, burst/surge training, walking, kettle bells, Stevia, chia seed bread, and 5:2.
About 6 years ago I was nudging 135kgs. For the past 6 months or so I’ve hovered consistently around 90kg, mostly due to not being quite as consistent as I was previously because of work stress. Still, a massive improvement even if I do say so myself. Aside from finding things that worked for my body, I also credit this to taking the long term view: falling off the wagon is far less discouraging when you’re thinking in terms of years not months.
As for the 5:2 lifestyle, followed it for just over one year now and it definitely makes a great difference. One of the main things for me is that I find it sustainable. My main interest in 5:2 are the positive effects on blood sugar, and brain function: the fat loss is a bonus. Stopped about 2 months ago when I was forced out of work. Just didn’t have the heart for it due to depression, and the lack of an external structure didn’t help either. However, returned to it last week and after yesterday’s fast already feeling the benefits.
One of the most challenging things about it for me are side effects that seem uniquely mine: haven’t seen anyone else sharing them as yet. Every fast day I get a very strong ear ache, always in my left ear. I also develop severe migraines in the evening. Naturally enough both of these contribute to great difficulty sleeping. Spoke with my doctor about it and he has no idea why this is happening. I do have Meniers in my left ear, but have been in full remission going on 15 plus years now.
Nonetheless, the 5:2 is worth it because my blood work is excellent, as is my blood pressure. So much so, that my doctor tells me he wishes he had my results, considering the things I enjoy eating on my non-fast days.:)
Why not just skip eating all togeather on the days when i should eat less? I personally feel it’s easier to cut out all food instead of just restricting how much i eat…
I love that idea. Your only a day away from eating a regular meal. I’m in.
Diet supplement companies are desperate for as many individuals as possible to try their products to show how good they are at burning fat.Well I discovered a website that will send free samples to your home, its the secret trick to free diet supplements:)You can get them here bit.ly/14RO6Zq?v=pysrv
Wow, that 500 calorie meal looks like something I’d eat on a regular day how much weight have you lost doing this?
What’s the best way to do the diet if I flip flop working days and nights? Count 7 pm to 7 am as 1 day?
Sounds interesting & fairly easy to get into the routine, after you get used to it. One thing I question is you should eat healthy whole foods rather your fasting or not. If your eating a lot of unhealthy processed foods I can’t see it making you healthier? Just because you may get skinny doesn’t mean your healthy…..
I went from size 18 to size 12 and I love food and cooking. It is hard but do-able but you have to fast one day a week once you have reached your goal. On this way of life you can relax and indulge a little. Good luck and best wishes to everyone who does it. I wish you well and there are a few Facebook pages you can join to get more help.
I’m actually trying this intermittent modified alternate day fasting. I’m on my last 5 pounds and it’s helping my plateaus. I don’t want to do too may extended fasting for now coz it’s starting to stress my body. Short one day clean works well for me,as I’ve experimented. So this video is perfect. Thanks
Just saw the maintenance part of your video, kind of interested in that.
I burn 1800 calories, if I eat 500 one meal a day, the next I can eat a max 3300 calories to maintain my weight because of the lack of calories from the previous day. But because of my stomach that has shrunk, I won’t be able to eat that much calories, even if spread out, so I would lose weight, am I right on this?
I’m have been fasting for 3 weeks 24 hr fasting I have lost 20 lbs one good meal at 8am the rest of the day water and black coffee it really works for me. I was 300 now 280 I’m 6’4.
I fasted I only lasted one day the next day I ate I wanted to go for three days so I have decided I will fast one day it regular or the next I will continue to do this for health I am 54 years old and I look very well and I still look young and I’m not overweight
The face when she says ‘feta’ at 4:00😀
But the diet is really sensible.
It restrricts your nutrrients on 2 days, and as adolescents are still growing,, both mentally and physically, it’s wise not to restrict yourself.
Excellent video, the key for me is keep your self busy on fast days.
My close friend we’re talking among each other about their diet program and how much weight they had lost. Actually, I`ve dropped 12 and a half lbs. Google “sowo hope site”. I feel much better after trying this kind of life-altering diet.
Thanks for the small breakdown its very helpful. Unfortunately they dont sell Quorn in Canada but I’m sure I can find some similar alternative.
You should looking for Woo&Pep diet website if you’d like to get best diet guide.
Can I still fast since I had my gallbladder out? I can’t get a doctor to do more than hum and ha about it.
Modified Alternate Day Fasting*
I do the same, its fantastic. Do you still practice this way of eating? What days do you workout, fast day or feast dat?
Looks great. As I’ve 24 hour fasted with 0 calories, I simply don’t think 24 with 600 will be that difficult. Plus I eat nearly vegan now (and have already gotten skinny)-I can probably skip straight to 6:1. Thanks for the vid.
Can we fast two days/nights in a row? It would suit me because I work 2 nights a week and could sleep through most of the fast:)?
This was Islam idea many years ago the prophet Mohamed s.c.w. use to fast two times a week Monday and thersday
look for WooPep diet website service to learn how to do diet rightly.
I’m currently doing intermittent fasting and trying to get 18 hours fasting everyday, but not less than 16. I have done one bone broth fast for 3 days and had good results. I’m currently doing a 24 to 36 hour bone broth fast. What if I ate normal 5 days a week and just broth fasted two days a week? That’s going to be less than 600 calories (male). I’m curious because I’ve plateau at 39 pounds lost, and would like to lose 50 more
Anybody know what is Custokebon Secrets about? I hear many people lost a lot of weight with Custokebon Secrets (just search it on google).
I loved doing it so much, never ever have I felt better. unfortunately had to stop for now and make a little break from fasting as I am loosing weight way too quickly. I’ll start again in a couple days though!
My sister laughed when I told them I was planning to lose weight with just implementing Fenoboci Diet Plan, but after I showed these people amazing results after I used it they are begging me to tell them about it. Of course I won’t tell them the detail about this diet plan, lol
So my sleeping patterns have been pretty messed up these past 2 or 3 weeks. Would wake up late at late night eat whatever dinner was then go back to my room and game then pass out. This is my type of fasting. I used to be the type to over eat or eat when bored just for the taste now i don’t crave much and feel much better.
Many years ago I fasted for a week to lose weight and I was delighted with the results, however whenever I try to do it now I get the most horrendous headaches and I am forced to eat to relieve them. How do I deal with the headaches?
Kinda like a mellow version of JUDDD, which I had great success with, I want to mellow out a bit so I’m giving 5:2 a try.:0)
Who has tried Alternate Day Fasting before? Thoughts? Results?
What if I eat one day what I like then not eat the next day? At all will this help lose weight or stay stagnant
It works much better if you eat nothing on fasting days, even a bowl of lettuce or coffee with sweetener makes your body produce insulin, which stops your weight loss… You will be surprised how easy it is to just eat nothing 2 days a week.. you save money and lose at least 5 lbs a week.
That is very funny about spouses sabotaging the weight loss. When I was a young girl, my second cousin was so over weight. She had a pretty face but was so big and not interested in losing weight. Finally, after a few years she did lose the weight. But then, she left her husband! He was a good looking man, had a nice physique, was never over weight and the sweetest person you ever want to meet. He stayed with her through her bigness, and when she lost weight, she left him and her 3 kids! Sometimes you just can’t figure people out
I did this before and am starting again tmrw. On my fasting days I had (5) 100 calorie shakes throughout the day. I used the Advantedge (I think I spelled that right) shakes. I was down 8lbs my first week. I should have kept this up! But def. Starting it again tmrw. Thanks for this video:)
I’ve been doing this for the past 3 weeks and it has been amazing, I’ve felt great and it is so much easier to do than a normal diet. Personally I have been having 3 meals and a snack on fasting days 100 kcal breakfast, 200 kcal lunch, 160 kcal dinner and 30 kcal snack. The remaining 10 kcal are for coffee and one tea with a dash of semi-skimmed milk.
I am someone who gets sugar deeps very easily and yet I have not experienced them at all during fasting. I think it has to do with the fact that I eat a lot of protein and veg and not many carbs. Generally what has worked for me is to see the food I consume on a fasting day as fuel rather than a treat, I have food that is pleasant to eat, but not anything I consider super yummy, this way I don’t crave more even if I feel hungry, in fact when I feel hungry I never feel like I’m lacking fuel after all the stored fat in my body is fuel ready to be burned and keep me going!
Yeah I’m sorry but he’s wrong.
I’ve tried that 800 calorie a day thing.
You know what happened?
Actually let me tell you.
*Flat lined libido. It was zero. Mini me didn’t work at all.
*Zero energy, and I do mean zero.
*Zero interest of doing anything.
*Constant depression.
*Constant anxiety.
*Problem sleeping.
*Increased heart rate and I do mean by A LOT. Usually it’s between 45-47. During that 800 calorie diet it was 96 at rest. Not kidding.
*Blood pressure went UP.
*Restless all the time.
*Weight GAIN instead of weight loss.
In other words all the things Michael says won’t happen, is just what ended up happening.
I have a VERY active life style. I walk around 17-20 thousand steps per day. I workout four or five days a week.
So everything this guy said wasn’t gonna happen, happened to me.
I wonder what he’s excuses for that are. Still waiting to hear them.

If you’re eating 500 calories on your “fasting” day then your not fasting. Even eating only 500 calories you’ll still see a spike in Insulin and slow down your ability to burn fast. A more effective diet would to simply eat one big meal a day. I did this for 7 weeks and lost 35 lbs, now I’ve pushed it to 48 hour fasts, true fasts with ZERO calories.
it is much easier to fast and eat less if you are eating KETO
I’m so happy that you mentioned quorn, when ever people talk about diets, it never mentions options for vegetarians
Thanks:)
I wish people would stop conflating ‘fruit and veg’. It’s a marketing construct. https://youtu.be/L6LL92Zs5L0
I’ve been very interested in intermittent fasting and the paleo diet as of late. I really think a combination of both is one of the best things one can do in terms of health and being lean. But I’m more inclined to the one meal a day or the 16/8 protocols. Eat lots of protein! You’ll feel satiated for a loooong time, and it’s rather important for building/maintaining muscle.
Are physical activies included in the calories intake count?
I have read that in the Islamic religion their prophet have adviced &encouraged them to fast two days out of the week and he said its for their own health benefit & to live longer life!
From personal experience my two tips are that the fasting days are infinitely easier if you just do a total, zero calorie fast. Making sure I stuck to 600 cals always made me food-focused and hungry. Also try to get your exercise to coincide with on your fast days. I seem to get better weekly results if I do that. It would be good to know if my advice is sound or not, all I can say is that it works for me and I lose 1.5-2lbs a week…
I’ve been experimenting with a lot of different forms of fasting now for about 6 months. I haven’t been able to thus far see any particular method of fasting as “the best”, although I’m leaning towards a one meal a day strategy more and more, especially after I am much more used to it. I do like the freedom to try out a lot of different fasting methods, depending on how I feel.
It wouldn’t have hurt you to give some credit to Dr Michael Mosley while reproducing nearly all the content of his diet plan. Or was your intention merely to parasite his work?
I eat 500 calories one day and freely the next but always stop eating around 7pm, I actually slit my 500 calories, I eat 100 calories around 1/2 and 400 around 6pm, I’ve been losing 3 pounds per week.
Brilliant video. Clear, concise explanations and a great voice. Thank you.
Hey Kevin. Really well done. I watched the doco, read the book, and yep, you nailed it. I think a ‘eureka’ moment for me was also the fact that hunger passes…… it doesn’t build till you curl up in a ball and die. So I embrace it, and know it is doing me good, and it will pass. Drink some water…. go for a walk, stop thinking about it. Thanks again.
Cutting calories does not make you healthy long term. It works at the moment but it will not keep you fit forever. Also, may I see the studies proving fasting is healthy?
i am doing alternate day fasting myself and on my fast days i fast for 24 hours. so to me its working i dont eat anything at all on my fast days. i want to know how long it will take me to lose the weight.
For me it works best if I do not eat at all on fasting days. This keeps my insulin under better control and avoids more painful food cravings.
Misleading this.. 5:2 isn’t alternate fasting. Its in the name. 2 days you reduce calories and the other 5 you eat normally. You can do your reduced calorie days consecutively
I am on a 5 day water fast right now. I mostly like to do ADF, but I think I want to try the 5, 2 fast. It is so hard for me not eat on my 2 days off.
I don’t even eat 500 calories only in those two days. I just fast for 19 hours, workout fasted and eat my normal calories in a 5 hour window and I still feel amazing after my workout and still lost weight.
Do natural popular lose weight method like Custokebon Secrets really work and if so, how effective are they? We have noticed several awesome things about this popular fat burn diet plan.
This clown of a doctor claims eating 800 Calories in a day is fasting. And a number of his videos are banning comments
It’s pretty obvious why. Fasting is doing 16/8 or 18/6 or longer…that’s what the real drs. Will tell you.
I read the book. Your summary is spot on. I am proud to say I have lost 4.6KG in 5 weeks and feel great. Also, I have monitored my blood sugar on fast days and it has been totally level. I actually have more problems with blood sugar on normal days. I find that interesting.
He does wednesday and thursday, she does monday and tuesday…isn’t it supposed to be non-consecutive days?
Islamic prophet Mohamed adviced his people to fast two days in a week, and when the brake their fasting at the evening time they are also adviced to eat as minimum as possible e.g a small bowl of soup or a bowl of salad with small proportion of protein and lots of water, this has nothing to do with their Ramadan rituals.
The 5:2 diet is amazing! I have lost half a stone in about 4 weeks and I’ve even been able to eat a take away and not gain any weight back. This diet is more of a new way of life to me now! It’s really helped me to think about what I am eating and realise I don’t need to keep eating just coz food is there!!! Amazing video btw!!! I am a Christian but I won’t make a religious comment!!!
This is exactly what Islam told people to do in 14 century
The prophet Muhammad may peace and blessings be upon him used to fast Monday and Thursday and eat normal throughout the rest of week seems like everyone is wanting to follow Islam without being Muslim first meditation then gratefulness now intermittent fasting it’s quite funny to be Muslim without being a Muslim these are all the teachings of Islam
+Kevinpartner I just started this diet, I have about 5kg to lose. I lost about 800g in the first week and nothing this week. how strict should I be on non fast days? 2000 cal ok but does that mean I can use those calories for a chocolate bar or chips if I want to? or should it be 2000cal of healthy foods only. also does it matter if it’s less than 2000? like 1500 or 1700? THANK YOU!
A few suggestions i have for the five two “i just started but it seems to work with the different types of IF. I skip breakfast “let the overnight fast carry the load, use caffeine to stave off hunger, and fish oil capsules at two different times. This seems to take away the hunger for a while. Also i like to do a HIIT workout “insanity or something like that” towards the end of the fast. For some reason i am not hungry for a hour or so after that.
I do a zero cal water only fast for two 24 hour periods per week
There do seem to be benefits from intermittent fasting which go beyond weight loss, though these benefits have been less studied. We know, for example, that a lot of repair and routine maintenance goes on in the cells when we are not eating
Kevin,I am a 54yrd male that is 80lbs over weight.I love to eat.I can give the biggest eaters in the world a run for their money.Unfornately,I suffered a stroke.after my stroke,I saw Mr Mosley program about eat fast and win.So I am giving a try.On my fasting day,I will have some spicy Cajun nuts(about a palm size)and I will do this for 2-3 days.On the 4th day I will eat some fish, stir fry with brocchli and green beans. After that meal I will start fasting againfor 2 more days.Chicken with pinto beans. My question is,is this acceptable?
Can you do this diet like 1500 on normal days and 600 on fasting days? I would be interested in doing that and was wondering if it was healthy?
I have been doing the every other day diet since Aug 7th 2016 and I have lost 21lb. I found this the easiest way to diet ever And am still losing about a pound to a pound and a half a week.. At first I was being careful what I was eating on my feast days but now I just eat whatever I want. I do find I get full faster so that has been helping to. Also I have cut out snacking. After the first two weeks I haven’t got any major hunger pains and can go till 3 or 4 in the afternoon before eating on diet day.
update on this diet please? just started on it today after I saw a documentary on it.
I just prefer to eat organic healthy foods ( more vege and less meat) No fasting needed. 3 meals a day. Keep hydrated. That all. By this method, U will drop weight if u are obese. I from 85kg to 80kg by six days only.
Im a little confused, are you sayn i should eat on fast days but not more than 500 calories? Along with that being broken into two meals at 250cal and 10 hours apart?? Or are we not saposed to eat at all on fast days such as 24 hour period.. forgive my lack of understanding i just am not clear on it..
hello, can someone answer one question about the 5;2 diet?
If you do normal fasting for 7 days p.e. at the first day the body will use carbs to get energy. So it is at least the second day you might loose fat. So if the fasting takes just one day, how can you ever burn fat?
I must say that I do the 5:2 diet for 3 weeks and it works perfect, but I want to understand why
greetings
I find it much easier not to eat at all on my fasting days. I find that a few hours after I have woken, my tummy will start to growl, I will feel very hungry, but a few hours after that, it just gives up asking and I don’t even feel hungry any more. If I snack or eat something, it seems to re-trigger my hunger. So I just go without on fasting days.
It would be better to not eat anything on the day you fast. This idea of eating low calories seems bad to me. I’m not eating anything on the days I fast. You especially should not be eating any protein during a fast, that will signal Mtor and shut off autophagy for sure. However, that may not be your focus since you just want to lose fat, but still eating anything normally just triggers hunger.
I’ve been wondering about this option for a little while. Seems like it would be a good choice for me because I’ve always had trouble with not going out/socializing/eating and drinking. Just takes a little planning I guess! Thanks for the info!
Diet supplement companies are desperate for people to to try their new products to demonstrate how good they are at help people lose weight.Well I discovered a website that will send free samples to your home, its the best way to get free weight loss programs!:)Have a look here bit.ly/17HSMTk?v=nxlqd
Dear Vicki, Please read Michael Mosley’s book and stop para-phrasing and adding your own interpretation. There is clear scientific research and trials conducted in the US (Baltimore & Illinois Universities). Stick to the facts.
This is amazing:) I’m at a healthy weight, my BMI is about 21.5, but I want to tone up, so I started doing Focus T25 (an amazing workout program by Shaun T), and of course, changing my diet is necessary. I tried the 1200-1500 diet plan and the only issue I have with it is soooo many restrictions. It doesn’t motivate you at all. So I’m considering trying this. It seems pretty reasonable and doable, not to mention it is a lifestyle change. So… do you think it will work for someone who’s already at a healthy weight but wants to shed those last few pounds?
First time viewer here☺ What’s your weekly weight loss results?
thanks Kevin for that it was good and well made can i ask how did you do the cartons i would love a software like that
So if I mixed this with a Low Carb 8/16 intermittent fasting diet would it make me loose weight even faster?
So that would put me on a 5 2, 8/16, Low Carb intermittent fasting diet
I’ve done the 5:2 diet and it’s not worked for me, maybe I need to do the 5:3 then?
Thanks very much for this. I’m just finishing up my month on the Whole30 diet and am looking to go straight into this one. I have the book, but won’t get a chance to read it for another week or so.
Nice video…. Thanks for posting. I really appreciate your time!!! Fasting is amazing for the body and mind. What works for one doesn’t always work for everyone. There are so many diets with fasting now. Mimic, 5:2, Alternate days…on and on. Make sure to get up to two teaspoons a day of pink Himalayan salt.
Side note: Next time you saute vegetables in your pan add a splash of chicken broth or water to loosen up all that great flavorful bits stuck on the bottom of your pan the last few mins of cooking…..scrape loose…worth the effort!!!
Best of luck on your health quest!!!!
Intermittent fasting is easy fasting from 7 pm til 12.30 pm next day so you feel very alert in morning it’s great
I’ve done this and it works GREAT! I lost an average of about 2 pounds a week, I believe I was fasting 2 days a week. My problem was maintaining the weight. As soon as I stopped doing it I gained the weight back and very quickly.. which sucked:/ also, I couldn’t workout as hard or as often, so my fitness level dropped. I also think I was losing a lot of muscle weight doing this, it really can mess with your body composition and metabolism. The more muscle you have the more calories you burn throughout the day. Just my experience. How many days do you fast?
Thanks for the video content! Forgive me for the intrusion, I would love your thoughts. Have you tried Dinanlinson Amazing Look Approach (search on google)? It is a great one of a kind product for learning how to quickly lose weight without the normal expense. Ive heard some great things about it and my BF finally got cool success with it.
Great vid! Nice to see a fellow canuck doing so well on YouTube. Maybe one day I’ll get half as many followers as you:P
Man.. I can’t thank you enough! But quick question. On the days your fasting, can you still workout and do cardio etc? Like would you end up burning muscle instead of fat if you worked out those days? You know? Please answer!!
Great video. I have shared this with friends since I think you summed it up well and have a good sense of humor as well as cool art.
Correction..jews were fasting 2 times a week over 2000 years ago and chinese did similar before that. But its all good if it works=)
Pretty ignorant corporate sponsored pile of FUD… CR results in lower metabolism… bad for weight loss… furthermore, insulin spikes are the REAL ISSUE… Metabolic syndromes rampant and as Jason Fung has adequately demonstrated with hundreds of diabetics, fasting is phenomenally successful in reversing metabolic syndrome… you are a tool. I was sooo hoping for clarity, not corporate bullcrap
can you have less than the 500 or 600 calories on fast days? or do you need to consume that amount for it to work? thanks.
Please add Islam in your list of knowing about the benifits of fasting. Thank you
I have just discovered this by reading a couple of books I am going to try it wish me luck
The book says its perfectly fine to work out whilst fasting however there was a girl in my gym who passed out due to this. Some people recommend eating part of your calories post work out but then im confused about the certain times you eat the meals on the fasting days. What could you recommend?
This is part of Islam since 1400 years ago thought by our prophet Muhammad pbuh.
Cautionary words about this diet. I tried the Fast Diet in March and April, but got disappointing results. Switched to every other day in May began losing first two weeks in May, but plateaued second two weeks. When I checked my calorie spreadsheet, I found that my average calories were too high the entire time (2600) except the two weeks I lost the first half of May (2100). Lesson: This plan works, but your overall calorie average has to be low enough for you to lose weight. You have to stay in control on your non-fast days.
It’s easier to just not eat on a fasting day. No counting calories ever!
GOD DID IT! Nah just kidding:P thanks for this short and succinct video:) I have just started the 5:2 diet and I don’t eat anything during the day and just have a 400-500 calorie dinner
Good on you! This is the way of the future for non-fiction how-to information. People will pay MORE for a concise summary without the padding. I’m glad you’re making ad$ you deserve it. (Tho it must be added that Mozey is a good man and no doubt a good author! Unlike so many authors in the self-help genre!)
Omg I fangirled when you mentioned Quorn! Thats what’s stocked in my freezer right now!:D
Prophet Muhammed (sa) did 5:2 fasting 1400 ago…we call it Sunnah fasting…becoz our prophet did it..he used to fast Monday and Thursday..
you look even better in real life…we are all so proud of you…
