While your body is made for walking, the distance you can achieve at an average walking pace of 3.1 miles per hour depends on whether you have trained for it or not. A trained walker can walk a 26.2-mile marathon in eight hours or less, or walk 20 to 30 miles in.On average, a person will have walked about 75,000 miles by the time they turn 80. This is about the same distance as going around the entire earth at.
The CDC recommends that adults, including older adults, get a minimum of 150 minutes of aerobic activity, such as brisk walking, per week. A brisk pace translates to roughly 100 steps per minute.Generally, older adults in good physical shape walk somewhere between 2,000 and 9,000 steps daily. This translates into walking distances of 1 and 4-1/2 miles respectively. Increasing the walking distance by roughly a mile will produce health.

Been doing this after my neck surgery 10 miles everyday. I’ve been inconsistent for 2 weeks and consistent for one week so far. I stretch and do physical therapy every morning on an empty stomache then have a light smoothie with berries, banana,orange,spinach,raw egg,whey protein and 1 cup cooked oats. Wait an hour to digest then I’m ready for my walk. Hardest part about recovery is recovery itself for an active person who exercises everyday.

I do incline walking which burns calories faster I am usually burning around 200 + calories in about 20 min than I stop this is just for now I just got back to the gym after years of not working out. I was 245lbs and chubby. I dedicated my time to jogging and increasing to running all in 3 months Monday through sataurday ans sometimes Sundays for 2 hours and I lost 90lbs it was very crazy because I lost 30lbs per week but also during my goal to lose that much weight I only had salads with chicken, fish, beans, etc.. No juice, no sugars, I was eating 100% healthy and sometimes I would feel so hungry because on average I was drinking 240 oz of water per day… I dropped down so much weight people thought I was becoming ill. I dropped down to 155lbs and I looked so unhealthy and skinny. I realized hard work and dedication paid off but me being 6ft tall and only weigh 155lbs was not healthy. So it’s very possible to lose up to 90lbs in only 3 months but I think I over did it. My ideal weight is 190lbs so I went from running 2 hours a day to using the treadmill for only 25 mins sprinting at 9mph just 3-4 times per week and I spent 1 hour lifting weights and drinking lost of protein shakes and eating more to gain the weight back but in muscle form which I did. Now I’m 188lbs, fit and no fat at all. I love how I can eat anything and still not get any fat because I do fast sprints and lift heavy weights now and never been in better shape. It took me three months to go back up to 190lbs but without the added fat, just pure muscle. Story of my life.

I’ve walked 10k steps everyday for eighteen months and gone from 167kg to 141, which is 367 pounds (just over 26 stone) to 310 pounds (just over 22 stone). I’m 60, white male 1.93m, 6’4″. Here’s my thoughts.
Walking is brilliant for general physical and mental health benefits. It does help tone the body and assist with weight loss. However, fat loss only happens with controlling what you eat, portion size and a balanced diet of protein, fat and carbohydrates.
Fad diets are BS. To reduce fat (often a good idea to increase muscle, which is heavy) it’s all about maximizing nutritional value from what you eat AND REDUCING CALORIES. That’s it. Carbs aren’t you’re enemy, nor are fats, nor proteins it’s calories you have to reduce.
Try to avoid anything in highly designed packets and buy natural whole foods.
I’m half way to my target which is projected to take three years. The challenge is tough and bumpy, but one million percent worth it. Good luck with your quest.

Would it be bad to up the walk? I usually do a hour half walk (2 mph-2.5 mph) on the treadmill and also do walks at work. Thinking of doing 10k treadmill, 10k at work per day step wise (no breaks, I feel breaks interfere with weight loss). I used to take my friends for a walk rather than sitting around a coffee shop. We used to talk crap and we would walk for couple of hours easy. Just take someone for a start and help each other. It’s fantastic. U will start running after a few weeks. Then get a bike. And then you will start doing it by yourself.

May I suggest fasted walking to increase fat loss with intermittent fasting. Worked for me: Nov 2019 I weighed 240. Now at 208 and I’m 43 years old.

You could also only see minimal weight loss because your muscle has grown. You are burning the fat off which is important.

I dont like treadmills, I like to get out in different areas and walk. I’ll park my car (where it wont get towed) then walk really far away so that I’ll have to walk all the way back. Sometimes I walked 5 miles a day. I lost so much weight! Now I’m starting over and cant wait!
You should also take into account that muscles are much heavier than fat. So if you are not on a diet, it’s actually pretty normal to gain weight on the scale when you get toned. (And your legs do get toned when you walk 1 hour/day.) So in reality the results are more than 900 grams lost. The scales are always discouraging, not the best measuring devices.
I’ve had malaria so many times it’s ridiculous. Literally all the dangers in Africa aren’t that bad because I’m from there. I know how to survive lol
Getting healthy also adds muscle even if no weight loss inches lost is what counts you did a great job
the two keys is simplicity and consistency another was keep it simple and be consistent do it every day because if you don’t have simplicity the complexity will cause you to quit the the training without consistency over about 42 days you will be consistent and you will see results
and drink plenty of water in each of carbohydrates and you will find it over. Of 30 days you will lose more fat actual weight loss and fat than any other diet that exist

I suspect not!! Exercise, whilst very good for you, makes a person hungry. Whatever they lose through exercise is re-gained when they eat!!
Let me put it like this walking hiking out in nature has changed my life I am 43 and I feel like a 20 year old after 12 10 mile plus hikes every other day (let your body guide you as to when to break and water/good food)
You can walk again if you reached Magadan. Ola in the East are more 7 Hours to walk. And in the North to Seimtschan in 103 Hours. Why finished in Magadan?

I could do the gym running, walking or stair climbing machines. But I have a hill next to the library and it takes about 30 minutes up and down and doesn’t seem like boring work out. I don’t go to the gym very often, just to use some symmetry weight machines and the stretching diagram poster. Plus the excuse to meet like minded people.

Nice video. I just started walking again after 3 years. Last time I was at 237 and I got down to 214. This time I was 247. I am down to 237 in 2 weeks of the treadmill 1 hour a day. I am shooting this time for 210. I make sure as soon as I get home I jump on the treadmill. No excuses….

Been doing over 14,000 steps outdoors every day while in quarantine. This amount of steps may seem like overkill and like an impossible goal to reach, but believe me, when I first started walking regularly 2 years ago, I had such bad stamina and endurance in my legs that walking just 4,000 steps in one day would leave me out of breath and about to keel over. I would recommend anyone who wants to incorporate walking as exercise in their daily life to start out with a reasonable step goal, like 2,000 or 3,000 steps and every day increase a little the number of steps you did the previous did. Push yourself, but also know your limits. You can’t expect to go from 3,000 steps to 10,000 in two days and not feel intense cramping and soreness in your legs and feet. Your body will slowly adjust to walking long distances over time if you do it with a gradual increase in steps. It’s also important to eat properly beforehand (eat nutrient dense foods; I don’t really follow a super strict diet but I try to have a good balance of fruits, veggies, meat) and hydrate yourself during and after your walks. Also… wear proper shoes while walking! Flip flops are a no-no.

The longest distance I can go from where I am right now is about 20 feet. Start walking 20 feet where I am, and bam! Right into a wall.
