Something that has really helped me is drinking A LOT of water. I drink 20oz of lemon water every morning before breakfast (prep it the night before and add stevia, and another fruit like 1/2 a lime or 1/4 grapefruit or orange). At night after dinner I drink 40 oz of brewed green tea (I add stevia and chill). It has really helped a lot! They detoxify your body and keep you hydrated.
I was in an abusive relationship and I turned to food to comfort myself while I was with him. I left him in October and have lost over 40lbs! I still have a long way to go, but I’m proud of myself. Thank you for being such an inspiration ❤️

It is magic for me. I don’t think about food with phentermine. I can grocery shop better while on phentermine. My gyn wrote a script for 45 days but doesn’t want me to go longer. I LOVE oats and nut butter in the morning. My favorite combinations are smoothy bowls with apples or peaches and cinnoman with oats and protein powder and yogurt and a hemp and chia seed mix I found with a splash of almond milk! I also make fruit whips and surprisingly, the secret ingredient that makes it whip and adds the creamy flavor is whey protein!

Eating healthy really isn’t that expensive but when people don’t know how to change their diet, it seems that way. Eating out 3x a day every day is just as expensive (if not more expensive) than grocery shopping for a month. youre absolutely right about it being a mindset thing. Usually love your videos but this one lost me at the very start in correlating cheese in production pipes to how cheese is therefore bad for your body That’s not how it works in digestion. For someone who is not Lactose intolerant, cheese can be enjoyed in moderation as part of a healthy diet…it’s not evil. Also, olive oil added to the vegetables would actually help nutrient absorption and satisfaction. Using measured amounts of oil/butter/cheese etc would enable this to be a lifestyle /“way of eating” instead of a temporary diet choked down for a short time while you’re trying to lose weight. Ask the millions who try the cabbage soup diet every year.

I disagree with this line of thinking. New studies have shown that low fat is not a healthy road to travel and nutrient dense food is more important than low calorie. Lettuce is NOT nutrient dense. Healthy fats are not bad for you either. Everyone is different in what works for them. When you eat nutrient dense food, you don’t have to eat as much.

I started following a WFPB no oil about two years ago due to having researched nutrition as I had some chronic illnesses and was referred to cardiologist. My cholesterol was thru the roof plus other bloods out of normal ranges and I had for years been a runner and thought I’d been eating healthy. After only six months of wfpb my cholesterol, and other bloods normalised. I feel so much better, I have always been a decent cook but now I make so many more dishes using options and mixing foods I’d never have thought would go before! I feel great, people have commented many times on my skin and ask what creams I use. I don’t feel anything from my arthritis or my other chronic illnesses.
So yes if you want to continue eating meat, dairy, oil fine but look up what it does to your body and perhaps cut it down if you can’t or don’t wish to cut it out completely, you will notice a difference in your health.
Oh and I eat far more now than I ever did due to the calorie density, as per this video.

Why is it that when it comes to diet we go from one extreme to another? Can we have a balanced diet with plants and meat with a combination of small portions of carbs and exercise regularly?

This completely ignores the importance of protein, balancing blood sugar, and that fats are necessary in small amounts. Many of the nutrients in salad will not be absorbed without including some fat.
Studies show that 1 lb of produce per day is beneficial (that’s like 2 cups greens + 2 cups other vegetables (including starchy ones) + 1 medium fruit or 6 ozs. juice + 1 cup berries or melon). More than that is too much fiber and sugar to effectively absorb the nutrients, avoid gas, allow sufficient calories for necessary protein and fat, etc.

Things evolve. Nowadays it’s all about having as much olive oil in your diet as possible to the extent if you can drink the stuff even.
If you eat a lettuce salad, you’ll be hungry in no time, regardless of the fiber. You need protein. Protein is why nuts help you to feel fuller than you might expect. Processed foods are the culprit.
I do not believe in calorie index. Not sure what I did one day but had a whole pizza (normally gives me 5 lbs) and other foods yet I gained zero weight

This is so on point for me. When I grocery shop, most of the time I get food that I know I can make healthy meals with but throughout the week, I get lazy and don’t cook which leads into the food expiring or buying fast food as an easy alternative. I hate that I do that so much because like you said, it becomes very expensive. I could save lots of money just by cooking at home every day or at least meal prepping but I guess I just feel like it takes so long:(
I would imagine Cheese in pipes is much different than how cheese would react after going through the digestive process with digestive enzymes etc. and the body doesn’t even have any calorie receptors.
The only thing that I eat on that table is the vegetables minus the sweet potatoes. I would love to have spaghetti but the amount of spaghetti that you can eat is so little and so high in calories I just avoid it.

After listening to what he has to say and reading comments from people following a modified ketogenic diet, I’m a believer. I feel better than I have in years, have lots more energy and my RA symptoms are greatly improved.

While that may be 500 calories of yams, it’s also 2 days’ worth of carbs! He doesn’t say that a serving of pasta is tiny-about 1/8th what you get at a restaurant. (And that assumes no garlic bread with the meal.)
Filling up on pasta puts your carbs through the roof, and the body thinks typical pasta is white sugar. This brings on diabetes, especially if it doesn’t include meat, or at least fat.
Studies show we should never eat carbs alone. Always include protein or fat, or the pancreas and liver have to work hard to keep blood sugar stable.
Plant based is awesome, but this guy didn’t explain it very well. He seemed nervous. Caloric density is a very helpful principle!

I think the only thing this video is missing is about the macro nutrient of protein, which also can keep you full for longer. Many people don’t even consume enough protein!

I go by keeping the caloric intake low. I don’t care if I have fatty food or carbs etc. but those foods will be high in calories, so gotta keep portions low.
Do a little bit of math on what you eat in a day, and you’ll realize how damaging a few pieces of chocolate are for example. You may have a breakfast that is 500 calories. And then you learn those four pieces of chocolate you chose to eat is 150 calories. I could easily eat a bar in a day. Bad idea!
And some people burn more calories than others naturally. I’m guessing height plays a part, but also depends on what you do for work for example.
And sone healthy foods are also high on calories. So be careful. (Hazel nuts for example)
At my height weight and activity level, i can only eat 1600 or so calories a day to keep my weight I believe.

I think the reason why we get full when we eat nuts is the fat content that acts on our satiety center which makes us feel full.

Spaghetti: a healthy alternative: peel a zucchini, spiral it and cut with scissors. Sauce: Chop in food processor: fresh tomatoes, red onion, basil, garlic clove, olive oil, lemon juice. By the way, don’t be afraid of carbs, they give you energy, especially fruit in the morning but but if you eat a lot of carbs and just sit around, like at your desk, you’ll gain weight.

Is the idea to be skinny or healthy? I believe a person’s aim should be living a healthful life. I have multiple aunts who lived into their 80s and 90s, and they ate meat. The difference, however, is that they prepared their own food and ate from primarily farm-fresh ingredients. There is very little nutrition in that particular lettuce he has on the table. Also, the fruits he’s chosen are relatively expensive, especially when they are not seasonal. This video concerns me a little, although I will admit that I see the bigger point he’s trying to make. Less junk, more nutritious food choices.

This kind of stuff is nice, but it gets into being food obsessed. If you eat a good whole food diet, high in fiber and low in sweets, you’ll lose weight and keep it off. I don’t know why you guys are doing Keto, that’s the dumb diet du jour.

It is expensive when you have to buy your own healthy foods and then food for the rest of your family because they’re not on a diet. I don’t even have room in the fridge for my fruits and vegetables because I share the fridge with my inlaws. I only get a tiny drawer to put my stuff in. Not aloud to get a mini fridge either.

I bought a Blendtec blender instead of the Vitamix because it has a blunt blade. I have three mini chefs at home and they use and clean the blender often. Now that they are teens it wouldn’t matter as much, but when they were littler it was great to give them confidence in the kitchen.
