It’s quite difficult to get any fresh organic veggies for vata here, so when push comes to shove: would you recommend for example non organic fresh or organic, but frozen green beans or spinach to balance out excessive vata?
After I went crazy for the past few years with IF and attempting Keto diet (always cheated and always failed overall) I suddenly decided to just go back to just eating moderately and a few times a day. The anxiety went away, the gorging on big meals while trying to fit them with fasting and obsession with eating went again. I suddenly reverted to being calm and cool about food again. And this really helps to continue this way of eating. Thank you.

I’m mostly vata and my vata has been severely out of balance most of my life. However, I find that taking breaks to engage in relaxing activities has always helped. Particularly drawing, journaling, and reading non-violent fiction novels. I’ve found hot herbal tea (of almost any herbs) to almost always help, and also the presence of crystals (especially rose quartz for me). Recently I’ve taken up an hour-long series of self-love activities which I do whenever I can, like I did this morning. I feel AMAZING and so balanced afterward. The ritual includes tongue scraping, oil pulling, water flossing, face steaming, body oiling, tea drinking, neti pot cleansing, hair care, and nail care.:)

Very well done, Thank you very much. The only thing I would not recommend is the suggestion to eat eggs for breakfast. Eggs are tamasic, and they lower the consciousness. They cannot become preasad, or karma free food. There is no need to eat any meat fish eggs or chicken. I have not for over 45 years. Eggs cannot be offered to Vishnu according to Bhagavad gita. Sri Dhanvantari, an incarnation of Vishnu gave us the Ayurveda. Ultimately AYurveda is meant us to achieve immortality. Consuming eggs or other flesh based “foods” will keep us in this material world and we will not achieve moksha / liberation, what to speak of love of God / Krishna. A lot of Ayurveda is unfortunately taught in a secular way, devoid of the spiritual goals that Ayurveda supports and leads to. Thank you for all your practical and valuable tips to pacify excess vata in our lives.

Through some difficult times in my life I was actually allergic to dairy, root vegetables, etc. I am vatta pitta and they would cause me to have bad stomach reactions. Once I am more balanced I have been able to accept them but when I’m soo thrown off, my body rejects them.. interesting!

I am Vatta pitta. I have been dealing whith chronic constipation my Hole life and now my stomach produce to much acid and I get reflux some times. Iam lactose intolerance. I have no idea what my dosha is, appreciate if you could help.
my hands and feet are always cold, I feel cold when everyone else is feeling fine in the room, skin below my hips gets dry like dandruff in cold weather but skin above my hips is very young looking and smooth with no dryness. my lips are always dried and almost blackish. I have 6-8 brown pimples/acne on face. sometimes my bowl movement is sticky sometimes so sticky that i feel they have not even become full feces and sometimes is fine.
the biggest one is that I have have trouble sleeping at night, cant fall asleep and a small movement cna wake me up and my sleep is never deep.
I am still confused to identify my body type. Because for many questions I felt like opting for two choices for eg.. In Sleeping pattern I am a light sleeper can’t sleep on time wakeup easily but I also can’t wake up early in the morning and find it very difficult to get up in mornings.
I hope that finally I can keep myself grounded and more focused after 100% of Vata videos.

I am very confused about my dosha.

Before I found out about this. I gave up milk because I realized it was giving me acne. Acne Improved drastically after doing this. Then gave up all sugar as a homeopath mentioned in a talk. I was slightly over weight at the time. 2 years had past and I was back to my normal weight but still continued to lose. I noticed slight dizzyness creeping in, and one day after one of my first experiences with a Kundalini Meditation involving breathing, all hell broke lose, from being healthy and happy go lucky everything changed. Sudden heart palpatations, panic attacks, blood not flowing to extremities, extreme weakness, ulcers, left lung not lifting, feeling like the blood was just not getting to my body, struggling to lift my legs and arms, sudden weight loss to being emaciated with yellowish skin,. 18 months later I am almost healed and I notice that the food that has really been helping me is buttermilk with flaxseed oil. I have two liters a day if I can and am putting weight on nicely. When the illness first hit me all my body wanted was yogurt and honey, now it makes sense why my body wanted yogurt and honey. I had no idea that the giving up of dairy and sugar, even honey could have led me to this vata pitta imbalance, I was having alot of cayanne pepper too. Thank you so much for sharing. I really wish I could have seen this video before the sh** hit the fan so to speak.

my favourite balancing routine are two yoga sessions after a cool shower, one straight in the morning and the other between 4-5pm. It really works wonders. I definetly recommend the “Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya” from Sadhguru, if one is interested in learning powerful practices. It makes a huge difference from whom you learn and how you do them, so if it doesnt seem to do anything for you dont give up too soon and look for vibrant teachers who could sit all day and be blissfull, they have to do smt right in my opinion:)
my other routine is a slow walk after my meals in nature:)

I have just discovered your channel. I just want to start by saying wow, what a gold mine! I love the information you share. I have just watched the pitta/kapha video before watching this one. I can relate to both. So, I am a little confused. I am definitely pitta dominant, without a doubt— easily overheated, excessive sweating, easily triggered to anger and frustration, sharp features, strong muscular build, sharp and direct tongue, etc. However, I suffer from and have always suffered from dry flaky skin yet oily in some areas and dry hair and nails, thin fair skin, and cracking/popping joints. Also, over the last four years, after giving birth to my daughter at the age of 40, in addition to some extra stress, I have retained some extra weight pretty much all over my body, no specific area in particular, even with my regular exercise regimen. I have also noticed that my previously strong appetite and digestion have declined. I am rarely hungry and when I eat, it feels heavy and sluggish (manda Agni). And I also feel tired, heavy and exhausted all the time (I try to eat dosha appropriate foods, especially pitta). I have lost my drive. So, now I am questioning what my prakruti is…pitta/?? Is it simply that my kapha is vitiated or that my ojas is depleted? How can I tend to my dry Vata without aggravating an already aggravated kapha? The clinicians suggested I’m Vata/Pitta. I’m gravitating to Vata tips..
I’ve got ADHD and vitiligo and other ailments I believe from when I was a child… Im also dry skinned so I’m working on pacifying the vata which has reached my head as I have spots on my scalp and redness on my face. I do daily meditation and yoga for grounding and I’m working out what I can eat to reduce vata. Cooked White potatoes you can’t have? But what about when it’s mashed? Can you have jam? So for me to reduce the vata that’s now up in my head…is it gonna take a really strict way of life to bring it down and help stop the conditions I have?

I was just wondering today why my constitution did so much better in a cool, air-conditioned environment. There is a lot of advice saying that Vatas need a hot climate. It’s somewhat true, but i do better when cold, heat quickly puts me out of balance.
I’m Vata but I like intense physical exercise. Doesn’t that go against the tip to engage in exercises which aren’t too intensive? If so what do you recommend?

I always thought it was my diabetes that was linked to my hyperthermia/hypothermia but I think it’s the spiked blood sugar that causes anxiety to increase and make me hot. Been having really bad acid reflux too, so I’ve been avoiding acidic foods which sucks bc I have a very strong craving for spice. Definitely have an insane drive for a very short amount of time that drives other people away. I’m currently on a spiritual journey which I don’t know how long will last. I exercise for 5 hours when I wake up, meditate for 1-2hrs, read about hinduism/buddhism for 5hrs, then can’t sit down and have free time bc I’m constantly looking for more information. I have lots of trouble sleeping so I stay up for longer. I know it’s excessive and I shouldn’t be doing it, but I don’t know how to help it. I can almost feel all my motivation and will to live fading after a few weeks. I have a strong passion for music that’s always in the background of my head but was very actively pursuing it before, now I just keep reading about other things. Very helpful info.
HI! Good video:) You recommend root vegetables. I read in one book that root veggies are not recommended for Vata. But in the same book they do recommend carrots, parsnips etc. What are your recommendations? I get no issues from eating root vegetables cooked, quite the opposite; it feels good:) I also don’t understand that warm spices are both recommended and avoided, how come? Thanks <3

I believe I have some of the pitta traits however I am always cold. This is my natural state. So am I just Vata then? Still dry though.
I am vata pita and i do completely reconcile with all you said. My skin is also very dry but at the same time i get hot very quickly. Which oil is best suited for my skin to get rid of dryness without overheating me? Thanks a lot Dr Halpern for this informative video!
I have this constitution, but pitta was more dominant. I went vegan 1.5 years ago and I have gotten more and more sick. I will not eating animal products,I am repulsed by it and it is an ethical issue for me. Now, I’m more vata dominant but still a combo of both.
I never put two and two and two together until recently. Losing that sweetness and grounded energy was hard in my body. My kapha Dominant boyfriend was helped though! Haha. I will have to find another way to use diet as a treatment.

Recovering from a lifetime of exhaustion that lead to anxiety took me a lot of effort,self awareness and self control. As a tridoshic type dominating in Kapha,it is really important slowing down and to nap a lot,watching my thoughts as i go. Vata dominates my energies and i drink a lot to heal the drryness leading to nervousness and Pitta excess,all from overly high stimulation. TOday,i began waking up and moving out of bed around Kapha time,and i feel a real difference already,in how it lets me calm down,taking it easy.
Dude, it’s not “DoshAAA”, or “PittAAA”. Dosha and Pitta are pronounced as “Dosh-uh” (दोष् + अ), “Pith-ah” (पित् + अ).

What raw greens are best for those that are vata (vata is my dominant but it’s my pitta that’s most out of balance so I need to work with both)…I don’t think I can stop myself from wanting to eat raw leafy greens for my health
