Have a feeling I’ll be sticking to this one until I feel ready for a more advanced workout. Just right, not too hard for beginners, not too long, but just enough to work out a small sweat and want to die just a tiny bit on the inside.
thanks! i love to learn everyday!
and today has started out that way 5.45am.
I have the feeling I’ve done this workout forever ago. Some may say Denise’s energy and smiling attitude are cloying, but it is amazing how much it helps to hear her encouraging me. Also, the nice thing about doing this from a video is that no one sees how uncoordinated I am. ;9
I need to get my fingers lengthened. Are there any machines that can do that?
BOB MOFFET,
CAN YOU DO A DEMONSTRATION OF A BRANCH TEST, 90 DEGREE SADDLE WITH 8IN PIPE WELDED WITH THE STICK WELDING PROCESS (SMAW) IF POSSIBLE. THERE ARE NO VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE ABOUT HOW TO MEASURE, CUT, PREP AND WELD THIS TYPE OF JOINT, THANK YOU. IT WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED
This guys website is a HUGE waste of time. DONT DO IT. Nothing but non stop talking and BS. You will not learn to play bass from this guy. All he does is show off and endless talking. Wasted a week on his worthless website.
My Question is the welder I met in 1971 his name was Bob Moffet are you related??
When I played the first minute of this video to see if it was something I could do, I thought her voice and smile would be irritating and patronising. But when I was actually doing the workout, hearing her tell me I could do it and that she was proud I was still doing it was a life-saver and kept me going until the end! Her enthusiasm makes the workout possible for someone of my size. Thank you, I can see this becoming a regular workout for me!
Thanks for your video! Im a weekend worrier that does some mig/stick welding once in a blue moon. No way no how good like you guys. I get lucky a lot.:) So, I have a question, I need a new helmet. I had a cheeze old flip style mask. Im looking on ebay and I found one that seems ok. What is your thoughts on a cheaper helmet?

Remember my Mom watching her when I was a kid! I enjoyed it because my wife and I host a free health and motivation group on Facebook and we discuss stuff like this often. We all post about our workouts, nutrition, pics, recipes and motivational content. Being Healthy can change your world. I know when I was on high BP meds and way over weight I felt miserable and it showed in my attitude. Shoot me a fb friend request and a message if you want to talk more or join our group. quality of this channel has gone way up with B.M doing all the videos now. and even after 10+ years just seeing someone else technique is invaluable. i never would have thought to hold the filler wire right at then end, guaranteed i couldnt do it in a root, but lay wire in a hotpass it seems like it would get a lot of material down quick with out much or any hand fatigue.. way better then world renowned mr salesmen, err mr tig……..
I worked out with her videos in the 80’s….she still looks great…me not so much
Thankyou, you are the best channel in the word for welding
Thank this actually really helped me out, and made me figure out what i was doing wrong,
I’m so sick of people asking about the glove like seriously is it even that big of a deal
This is my first time watching your lessons. Absolutely fantastic. Really easy to follow and understand! I’m actually using the piano, and was wanting to learn this on the keys. But it’s all the same principle. I’ve wanted to understand this for ages, I did watch a lesson once before but it got confusing. Thanks so much Scott,
I’m looking forward to lesson 2.
And maybe getting a bass guitar one day too would be great ! Cheers.
Gracias por el detalle que tienes y la paciencia para los que vamos empezando! Muchas gracias!
Hi There Mr. Moffat,
I love your videos. I had to learn how to weld after becoming a machinist, mostly on the job, and eventually certified in 6G on 1″ tube for the Air Force, 7 metal groups. Wish we had you around, would have saved a lot of time and money.
One tip I got that I’d like to share though, is that for rod feeding, it’s a good idea to practice with a broomstick first to strengthen your fingers. The diameter does not matter that much, more so the repetition and endurance, so you are ready when you must weld for an extended period. Practice with both hands, I would do it when watching TV, not really thinking about it, just popping the stick straight up through my fingers until I reached the end, then swapping. I only weld occasionally now, I’m 30 years older, but my fingers are still strong enough to feed without getting tired or hanging up.
Very Respectfully,
Pete L.
a little advanced for a beginner, they were practically running from the start…and her facial expressions!
Exelent videos I want to practice welding pipes but I have no idea which welding machine I can buy for that. I see that you use everlast are good machines? I reviewed and I am interested in the 200st. Will it be a good buy to practice?
If I was a young man this is the trade I would learn and the place I would go to learn it. Love your videos. Very educational.
It’s difficult finding workouts that us obese people can do without feeling like every joint and muscle is being destroyed. I’m SO happy I found this. It’s super low impact and easy but really gets your heart going. Thank you!
Great Video, loved it

at 3:20 look at the lady in the orange/ peach….she’s just like ok you’re creepy:D
This dude is bad ass. I’m a experienced d17.1 welder. I like what I’m watching.
I do not want to ever touch your hands. You wipe your nose with your hand all the time. Unsanitary!
I thought she would be way too annoying but i was shocked that her enthusiasm rubbed off on me:’)
Can you please show us the right way to sharpen a Tig electrode?
Insane lesson for beginners imo. A great great lesson but not a laymen enough terms really. U should definetly tell ppl about scales and make sure they have a grasp of that because alot of ppl may not know what a 3rd or 5th actually is or how to find it themselves. Everyone watching these videos should know what a root note is but maybe not their scales.
excellent explanation, walk-thru demo, and technique. your “shooting the gap” approach for feeding the wire is lagniappe. great narrative. keep crushing it!
My only problem is how much he is moving without saying anything. I understand that this is for someone who already plays, but if you havent started doing walking basslines yet, have you really been playing bass? Hes saying to do one thing then proceeding to not do that thing. This is very difficult to follow if this is your first exposure to wwalking bass lines
This is an excellent lesson but it is really at an intermediate level.
I love her videos im using it too lose waight I way 317 my waight I would like to be is 190 she is awsome
I am totally in agreement. Bob Moffatt and Jody Collier are the best instructors on the web. They both minimize the jargon when appropriate and realize that techniques they have used for years can be intimidating for beginners. Their arc shots are outstanding as well. The only other fellow I routinely follow is The Fabricatior. He’s darn good as well.
Hey man, what do the gloves do? Make it easier on fingers? Make strings last longer? Better grip?
Why do you wear the gloves? I’m new here just curious, is it something sound-wise or something with your fingers?
Fantastic video bud! Just certified 6g stainless and cant wait to see more videos.
Bob,
Thanks again for a great video! Thanks for sharing the little details that make a big difference. Where were you 30 years ago? I really could have really used your help then. Could you please share some techniques on 6010 down, fill and cap on pipe, especially the bottom half to keep a nice tight, uniform bead?
Thanks,
Tim
at the moment at work I have to to walk the cup while using the button on the torch as the foot pedal hasn’t come yet so I have to manipulate the position so I can still use the button, sucks but helps master a good technique
Thanks for the information I have a question I worked with the best welder I have known in my 44 years I met him at Teledyne Moviable Offshore in Amelia Louisiana around 1971, he also tought welding at our vocational school, are you related to him??
bob you are a great teacher how long have you been teaching for
Best teacher and videos on YouTube period i have learned so much i can’t even imagine what he can do in person one on one BEST VIDEOS EVER PERIOD
your teaching techniques are amazing this is the best YouTube demonstration i have ever seen i would be honored to further my education and techniques with you as my instructor i attended earl c. Clements job corps for welding back in 2002 till 2004 and it was a blast when im under the hood im in my fantasy world i extremely enjoy welding i wish i could go back to school to become certified im only entry level but anyway i just wanted to say thank you for this demonstration it was flawless and very understandable
note taking: use 5th and 3rd, stick to half note first and make sure to feel the underline rhythmical feelings inside me.
Thank you for great teaching!
I’ve been busy with school, so I “haven’t had time to exercise” (nonsense, I know). I decided that for finals week I’m going to try to exercise in the mornings to get blood flowing and to feel better (school/life is stressful) (also Christmas is coming up… I want to look good for pics and be able to eat). I wanted something easy so I could feel like I still accomplished some decent exercise, without giving up mid-video. This video was just what I needed. I haven’t done many exercise videos, but I think Denise was perfect with her enthusiasm. I’d rather have someone praise me for starting to work out than have some drill sergeant.
Start with ExprezSliminizer and be ready to lose 15 kgs in one month, just like my mom.
Stop talking, damn it. I want to hear the bass, not your fucking voice. Drop your fucking ego and learn to do a fucking tutorial.
Perdona mi inglés, no soy muy bueno en eso.
I love this exercise. Simple, easy moves, but def. effective and a great way to have some movement, esp. if you’re used to being a coach potato.
I would like to recommend ExprezSliminizer to anyone and everyone who wants to remove everything bad from their bodies and give them an actual makeover starting from day one!
im 39 weeks pregnant and want to know if this routine is good or secure to do instead going outside and do the walking.. i dont like walking outsie…
Thank you for your generosity in sharing these techniques, been on stick all my life, this will help immensely on the move over to Tig, along with kicking myself up my own ass!!
I am having trouble with the placement of my filler material while walking the cup. How am I suppose to know where to hold it in the puddle or which way I need to go when it’s not working out
This is excellent to help get you back into exercising! “We’re burning butter now!” lol
I’m working on practicing stick welding 5G pipe. In the pipe welding industry when using 6010 or 6011, is it more common to do vertical up or vertical down?
English is my primary language but this guy may as well be speaking Greek. Is this really for beginners? Seems to me you need an awful lot of music theory knowledge before you can even begin to understand what he’s saying. Sorry for the negative post.
I own a custom motorcycle shop where we weld anywhere from sheet metal to structural steel and aluminum. So I really need to pick your brain I have had a little Century welder I got at Costco about 27 some odd years ago. It was 120v but had a high and low switch on it where I could get some decent power out of it. Years ago I replaced the line for a graphite version it would weld aluminum without a spool gun the welder was a dream. I have a Craftsman Arc welder that I bought for $100 from a neighbor when I was 15 years old to teach myself how to weld and customize my car. That welder is probably 45+ years old by now and being 220v it’s strong enough to take over for anything the little Century couldn’t handle. I actually learned to weld using that stick welder on thin Toyota sheet metal shaving the door handles off my truck using these massive welding rods that came with the welder not knowing they came in smaller sizes. I will tell you this by the time you can figure out how to weld thin sheet metal with 5/32″ rods without warping or burning holes in the metal you can weld anything. It wasn’t long after purchasing that arc welder that I discovered the mig wire feed and how much better that would be for my sheet metal work. So I soon picked up that little Century welder and a whole new world of welding opened up for me. Unfortunately 25 years later here I am now and some scumbag decided they could break into my shop and steal a bunch of equipment while I was visiting family for the holidays. They didn’t think that old arc welder had any value so fortunately they left that one for me. But now I am in the market for a new welder which I haven’t purchased in over 27 years, and am being asked all sorts of questions that I can’t answer. I wanted to buy a mig / tig welder that was under a thousand dollars that would work well for both aluminum and steel. But it seems todays welders are one or the other if a quality machine. I was told for aluminum I need an AC inverter to weld with tig well but the machines I have seen that are both mig and tig are DC only unless I sell a kidney to double my budget. Is this true or are some salesmen just trying to take advantage of the fact I haven’t bought anything in years and don’t know what is true any more? I started looking into this new brand Harbor Freight is carrying called Vulcan, it seems you get a lot of welder for the money since they are trying to make a name for themselves, and are so confident they offer a 1 year trial where you can return their Vulcan brand any time within the 1st year if unhappy with it. I don’t know any manufacturer that confident in their products they would offer a 1 year free trial. Granted I bought that Century welder when I was just a teenager for only $400, but its hands down the best welder I have ever used outside of this Miller welder I used at a friends shop that set him back over $4500. But that little Century welder would just as well if not kick but over anything 3x it’s cost. Honestly I didn’t realize at 44 I was finally old enough to complain they don’t make things like they used to. I had bought this Hobart welder that was strictly wire feed but supposed to run aluminum the same way without a spool. But honestly this welder sucks, if the metal has the slightest bit of contamination it basically gets zero penetration. The speed control has a 4 letter setting so gives me zero chance to fine tune things just right. I honestly feel like I went front a good welder to someone who has never welded before using this stupid Hobart. I miss my old cheap little Century the had the Hi and Low setting, with 2 dials where I could select any heat and speed settings I wanted till I got that perfect purring sound. I don’t want to waste any more money buying crap welders or getting suckered into spending more than I need to. I am a good welder when I have access to quality equipment but it seems today you can still spend over $700 and end up with a turd like this Hobart I would honestly feel bad about selling to anyone else. Can you give me advice to avoid overspending or not getting the kind of quality equipment it seems they used to make?
Since the addition of Mr. Moffatt this channel has become one of the
best if not the best welding channels on youtube. Jody over at
weldingtipsandtricks is probably tied, you guys are both excellent
teachers and very skilled to boot.
What machine do you recommend for a beginner, I want to build a smoker out of a 55gl drum
What a great lesson, simply you have to have a basic knowledge of intervals and how notes are disposed on fretboard… then you get it right.
Great lesson. I’m an ear player, guitarist, improving my bass. Found the lesson very useful.
Go Google Fat Blast Furnace and you’ll find out why particular foods ‘explode’ in your stomach.
what the practis can i do to make my hand easly to doing walking the cup hope you can teach me sir
Is it easier to walk the cup when the torch is held backwards? And does the cup not get burnt when dragging it on a hot piece? New to Tig and welding in general.
Day 1 doing this cardio, i can’t believe i sweat so much.
And it’s so easy to follow
I’ve lost 3 stone so far. With Denise’s great begginers videos and a smaller food portions, it wont be long before I loose the next 7 stones and be the healther and happier about myself. Thanks Denise!
I’m teaching myself watching your videos along with few others. Long story short I’m getting much better and looking for better welder now to get away from my cheap HF one. Love the channel so far, great insight!
I have a problem with keeping a bit of a death grip with this process. Just started this last week, so I’m trying to work myself out of it.
Ever heard of Erik Scott. Great on the electric fretless Petula Bass, along with his famous suped up Fender and Laklin
Glad I found this video. I felt amazing doing this workout. Didn’t even have to stop for water lol. Love it
Thanks, Scott! This is really a great lesson and well presented. I’m a guitar player trying to be a better bass player (well most times a guitar player trying to tell a bass player what I need!) and this pretty much sorts out all the basic ideas and pathways to better bass lines via rhythm and chord influence. Your a great teacher even 7 years after you posted this! I hope things are good with you and your music.
can we see a structure weld 7018 all the way out on some plate??
Hey Bob, could you a video on doing a cap pass walking the cup? Last time i did this i had some undercut (probably because of my pipe being too hot, and not lowering my amperage. Thanks for this video, i now know to feed wire lower into the bevel instead of sometimes melting it through the gap..
Sorry if my English is not the best,It’s not my main language.
I play a lot of psych/groovy bass lines. But I’m a huge fan of jazz and 7:13. Walking bass lines are so lovely. I’ve never attempted yet. I’m still a baby player!
I welded for years ( MIG and Stick ), but TIG is new to me. I’m retired and now learning TIG at home. Your videos are a great help to myself and a lot of others. Keep up the good
work. THNX.!!!
I love Denise, she’s so bubbly. Her Boot Camp workout (along with walking 3 miles a day) has helped me lose 45 lbs in the past 5 months. I’ve been following her fitness programs for the past 10 years, she’s so motivating and encourages you to stick with it, which we all need sometimes, no matter your fitness level.:)
I was used to working out daily in the military then after I had my daughter and had severe back pain it was hard for me to even walk/stand. Now that I’m on meds I’m trying to burn off this 100lbs but I needed something low impact to get started until I am used to working out like I used to. This video was great!
Dude. I just turned on the video and started trying to play what you were playing and seriously leveled up bass wise. It’s like the whole fret board opened up for me. Ty broski.
I used her back in the early 90’s to work out to lose my “Freshman 15”. I forgot how much I loved her! She is awesome! Using her videos again to help me lose weight!
Just got a tig and still waiting for a few things before I get started. One thing I noticed is the filler rod is SUPER long and seems like it would get in the way or make it difficult to feed, is it possible to just cut it in half or is there risk of contaminating the filler with the metal from the cutters?
In my opinion, this workout does not come close to Leslie Sansone’s. I don’t go for that swaying stuff. I was actually looking for a more challenging walking workout.
Amazing channel and awesome bass playing! I think it would help us a lot, especially beginners, if you would stick to the basic positions of the notes you are talking about. That way we can clearly see the notes to play. I think it would help these tutorials if you didn’t assume beginners will follow when you move all over the neck playing the same notes in different positions. Still an awesome channel but I have noticed this in multiple videos and other comments. Thanks for all the great videos though! =]
Just keep it up and you will see results. Do it in your living room or outside but JUST DO IT!
I have to be honest, I’ve never seen a blas player wearing Magic Mini Gloves (probably says a lot about me) but I think it’s a great idea. Great lesson BTW, when the drummer and bass player lock in a groove, everyone feels cool.
Saw this tutorial 5 years ago and couldn’t understand anything. Recently I did a course on music theory and learnt what root, fifth, third, seventh (all the music theory stuff) are and now I could follow this tutorial like smooth butter. I suggest anyone getting into music now to learn a little music theory to learn the names of notes in a scale.
been subscribed about a year. been welding all different processes and materials for 20 yrs. what a wonderful teacher!!
It is a miracle, I lost 50 pounds as I did?, look here @Emilie Kesinger
I have been eating better and exercising (push ups, sit ups, and walks) every day for 3 months now. Though I have lost some weight, having an underactive thyroid means I have to step up my game to lose the weight I want. I am a chunky gal, but I was easily able to do this, and surprised how good I felt afterwards. Thank you for this.:)
Our band is almost complete, only the bass player is missing. So here I am
Gotta love Denise.. I use to do her workouts years ago, when I had a fat metabolism. I feel like I grew up watching her.
Here I am doing her workout today with a slow metabolism; and trying to lose weight. Much love to Denise..
Good old Denise Austin! She has always been one to fall back to! Thanks for always being there, Denise!!
Aww this is so cute. The trainer kept such a pleasant smile throughout the whole process.
hi denise this is kairavi. iwanted to lose atleast 5 kilos and i can spare about just half an hour. so could u plz suggest me some effective workouts. i have already tried many of ur videos n they r just awesome!!!!!
The last time I did tig, I had no idea beyond what I’d done in gas welding. No formal training…
#17 torch? Hope to get a number 9 next year, as I’m inclined to thin materials.
I did this for the 1st time and I found it completely amazing:D. Pure sweat and this one is full of enjoyment. It’s not like those heavy workout which is hard to do. I’m gonna stick up to this one. Thank you, Denise. God bless you.
ahahahha so funny the way she talks! seems like she is talking to brain damaged people…. that big opened eyes, that stupid smile and that voice… on top of that “super hard” routine…. i won´t to this even if payed lol!
xD
3 times this week. I haven’t worked out this much in over a year!
Thank you for this video. I am trying to get in shape and this was the perfect balance of cardio and time spent exercising. And I love your energy!
But what about the amps?? I can do walk the cup, but i don’t really know the settings yet to get that groove finish..
Dear friend. Listen to Albert Collins so that you do not divert young players from the blues bass walks! I’m old and I caught you!
Learn some REALLY basic theory and stop being a pain on the neck. Awesome lesson btw.
Is this tiring? I haven’t tried this one but other Denise Austin workouts are SO DAMN taxing!
Denise, I’m on a program that I chart calories burned. Do you have any idea how many with this workout? Ty!
Losing weight is simple if you know the right way the ExprezSliminizer way.
Shave-and-a-haircut two-bits. I play that all the time, Scott you’re the first one I’ve ever seen play it
I’m getting undercut when I’m on the cap. I noticed that occurs when I change my arch length, another problem I have is the manipulation…I have a z in my welds but my Tig weave is smooth.
Seeing the way you welded at around 7:30, suppose you stopped in the middle of the root pass. How could you restart without having to feather it while getting good penetration?
I’m a beginner and this is like traveling to Mars for caveman. I’m playing tabs at half speed a week in.
I am 67 and this was perfect for me. I do not have a lot of floor space, and I was able to do all the moves. I want to get addicted to exercise. I hope these videos help me.
hi all,can anyone identify the bass bodyshape in the link.thx all…only a 40 sec. vid,so give it a try please
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nmw8Qj-bHzA
Thank you Bob, I appreciate the way you teach this and your way is right where i want to be, Ive just finished my 4th week of Intermediate coded, so a long way away yet, but i will keep watching and learning from you.
Q. as i dont have my own welder yet, nor access to one after school, but i would like to take you up on what you mentioned about practice at home, what kind of cups, etc would you use for practice?
I hope to nail this course and then start Pipe, so any info at all I appreciate
Thanks
your moving too fast, you talk more than you play, and you dont explain what you play your explanation is not for beginners on bass……
Oh god this lady is happier than me I didn’t think that was possible!
Been doing this video with ten minutes strength every day for two weeks, combined with low calorie diet and I have lost over a stone! I love it!
It seems really hard not to appear scary when trying to work out and be encouraging simultaneously.
Lots of good tips!!
Thanks, will be out in my shop trying some on Monday
30 years ago an old black jazz guitarist i knew, taught me bass and music theory, through the numbers, modes, patterns. pentatonic scales, arpeggios, melodic, harmonic, Hungarian minor scales. he taught me this simple method in about 4 months. problem was i never wanted to be a jazz bassist, I just wanted to know what I was doing. I practiced 8 hours a day, got a gig in a wedding band, but could never find a group of musicians who were willing to challenge themselves technically. Found my bride to be and lost interest in bass. Scott’s methods are familiar to me, he has really renewed my interest in bass. So much to relearn! Anyway Scott you have some awesome videos, and you present yourself in a very likable and comfortable way. I look forward to joining your website.
I know this is old, but if you were going to use the “walk the cup” technique or even just normal adding filler, is there a way you could instead of holding the filler rod the whole time could you just tack it first so that it stays in place the whole time and you just move up the torch?
I have a question. When I tried walking the cup I continuously had issues with the cup not wanting to slide on the walls of the steel instead it felt like the cup was “sticking” to the steel. If you understand what I’m talking about, can you give me any advice on how to counteract this?
Don’t make it sound like rocket science, get straight to the point, so called walking the cup is a fancy disguise name for resting the torch on the job while welding to keep the electrode out of the puddle, and is used by those that do not have a steady enough hand to weld without doing so, so called walking the cup has no benefit to the weld.
I’m new to tig welding and your videos helped me a lot, thank you so much.
Fun & Easy walk to do at the end of the day. Even if I am tired can do this so I call it a no excuse workout: )
I really enjoyed this video,I was able to get through it without stopping!
At 7.20 he’s feeding the wire from behind, when I’ve tried this my wire constantly arcs and sticks and I get into a mess…is there a way to avoid it sticking?
Gotta practice walking the cup with my powertig. There never seems to be enough time in a day for practicing.
This item was sent to a family member who said it was great.↝↝> allmy.tips/flybold-Slackline?Dd✰ Since I was not directly involved with it, I can’t comment on specific points.
a little more volumn please….I really shouldn’t have to tell a musician that:)
Hey, just wanted to let you know I sampled some bits from this video to complete day 4 of Jamuary. I’m quite curious what you think of the result: https://soundcloud.com/supplebe/jamuary-2019-4-teach
Bob,
I’ll tell you, this video was a saving grace for me. I’ve been a welder for 40 plus yr., but mostly stick and wire feed. now I’m in the running for a job to start and run a welding department. This video has given me the tools to practice my technique at home while I’m hanging around with the family. This job I’m going for has great opportunities, and could be the cherry on topl of a long and great career doing what I love.
Only a stupid, despicable human being can dislike a video where someone spends your time to teach something for free.
So in other words your just arpeggiating each chord? (using broken chord scale degrees/notes)
I finally remembered that sitting and moping around about the fact that I’m fat won’t do me anything good and as I’m not getting a lipo ever I set my homepage to this and won’t let myself open any other tab before I’m done with it. it’s crazy how much sweat such a low impact workout can generate.
I’m 104kg after having my 3rd kid and looking forward to 80-75kg
I swear….this woman NEVER ages! She looks as great as she did back in the 80’s.
look scotts wearing his magical gloves to play bass better lol any ways awesome teacher
I’m sweating bullets and my gluteal muscles are screaming right now. Will be doing this tomorrow!!!
Is it my imagination, or does the chord sequence you introduced at the start have a kind of Brazilian feel to it?
I play drums and i have this old bass of my friend in my shed, I picked It up and this video was so helpfull I’m able to play this and im not even a bass player
Wonderful workout! Thank you so much for the fun and the encouragement!:D
Looking forward to try the other ones…<3
Bob, can you make a video on how position your arms and hands so that you can move freely.
Hey Scott, Great video on the subject. Could you do a lesson on four string acoustic basses. I have a Fender BG-29 that I practice and use for acoustic gigs but I’m wondering if I’m not utilizing the full potential of this bass. Thank
I normally do a different popular walking DVD but thought I would give this one a try. At first I wasn’t too sure about it but then I started to like it because of the diversity of the moves which is nice when you can get a walk in that fast and exercise different parts of the body.
“Just going to use roots and fifths”, then goes off and plays all sorts of things. If you’re demonstrating something adding extra notes is distracting and confusing! Bad teaching.
2019
No bass tabs ON SCREEN for free like CoverSolutions on YT?
Ok. UNsubscribe.
Sad.
This has worked well for me. I used it to ease myself into working out after not being in a gym for years, and now I use it as my fallback workout on days when I’m crunched for time and can’t fit a full 45 minute workout in and it makes you feel like you still accomplished something that’s good for the body. It’s also very kind to my knees and joints from classical dance injuries over 20 years ago that never quite healed right and give me a lot of trouble when my feet come into hard contact with the floor.
He shows to show 3 root notes with the “fifths” and then proceeds to pretty much play anything BUT these notes
You provide some much needed information to us! Thank you! I’ve been a tradesman for 19 years. They don’t teach this to us, in our schools, or at least describe it the way you do! Since I’ve found your channel, I’ve gained knowledge, and passed you on to my apprentices! Thank you again!
I enjoyed this video! Definitely adding her videos to my rotation!
I found these Bartolini pickups for 110 dollars. Why don’t you purchase some of them and put them on a P base. How would they sound? Get Gavin to do it. He’s got lots of spare time on his hands. Lol
HA this video just answered my question on another video. Bob Moffatt is a lefty TIG welder.
Sewing machine leg! Hahaha lol…Well I may try this one day.. but I am afraid I will end on my face lol. Gonna follow your tips and hope that wont happen ^^
one of the most important parts of this lesson is scott vocalizing the drum beat. i hear that in my head every time i practice walking bass.
It’s amazing how much just this little bit of exercise can help you feel better!!
Thank you Mr. Moffatt. The practice methods you present are both clear, as well as emphasize developing technique first, without the ‘distraction’ of an arc, stuck rod, shorting the electrode, etc.
Another talk talk talk lesson. I was 20 years old first time i took the bus on my own. Blah blah. Starts around 4:00. Thumb down for too much crap talk.
I bought a schecter hellraiser 6 string a while back and loooove playing it. I started about 6 months ago off and on… but recently it’s taken hold. All of a sudden I was ‘hearing’ the guitar playing as if it was isolated in songs. But oddly, the bass is what I REALLY heard. I had a few songs I desperately wanted to play that were bass like ‘take my breath away’. I love the deep tones of the bass. Like the cello or viola I am drawn to the deeper tones.
That said, a week ago my wife and I were out of town shopping. That means she was shopping and I was trying to not be bored. I stopped at a guitar shop and was eyeing many guitars. This specific Ibanez sr500pb looked like my style so the store manager asked if I wanted to hold it and try it. Mind you, I had zero intention of buying a bass that day…
Man, it took 20 seconds and I was in love with this guitar. The look, feel and everything was spot on for my novice tastes. I just put $50 down on it as I wasn’t ready to carry a guitar home and was a little shocked that I was doing this.
A few days later I finished payment and had it shipped. All I can say is that as soon as I plugged it in and tuned it, I was HOOKED. My buddy and fellow guitarist said… well, Dave, it appears you are a bassist. Understatement of the year.
Im consuming your free vids and shortly after my hernia surgery I will buy into all of your lessons. I am finding every thing you have published VERY helpful. Ha! I especially love that you say bass is just as hard to learn as reg guitar. I was suspect on this as It’s coming 20 times more easily to me than reg guitar. Honestly, Im not sure whats happening. My hands are doing things I am not sure I know how to do. I play rocksmith for my recreation and Im hitting 80-100% pretty quickly on most songs. I know that my sound is not clean yet but my former struggle with my hellraiser was that I could not for the life of me find the frets in a timely way. Now I am finding them especially if I don’t think. If I just play… feel the music and let my hands do what they want…
But that natural ability is short lived. I watched a few or your vids and realized my natural state had some wicked bad habits.
All this to say… I can’t wait to spend hundreds and hundreds of hours playing with your advice and vids up. It’s nothing for me to play 4-5 hours a day(on weekends I can hit 7 hrs between yard work and other duties). Im in construction so my body doesn’t feel the weight of the guitar and my fingers only had a day or two of numb tips.
Thank you so much for your vids. I am especially thankful for your talk on your neurological issues. I love that you battled through. The drawback of construction is fat, gnarled hands. A 6 fret stretch is a herculean effort. Your effort inspires me to overcome.
Also. I see it in your eyes. you loooove bass. I found myself there last week on a level I had not anticipated. I’m 53… just starting guitar… but I feel like a kid again. Thanks!
this is so fat girl friendly. I love it. I lost tons of weight watching Denise Austin on lifetime when I was middle school. I’m 28 now and I still love her
I had the two step until you switch to the 3rd without explaining how you found those? I can follow your fingers for this exact fill but if I don’t know how to find the 3rd of a note I won’t be able to apply it to any other run. Thanks for your help.
Why do you wear gloves when you play? Is it part of your look, or gimmick, like just to stand out among bassists, or is there a technical or medical reason for it? Just curious, that’s all. I’m not asking to be a smartass.
This is a great video. Peopl ethat take the time to understand will be able to play. Haters gonna hate. But this video is awesome. I like the other walking bass videos just as much. Based on this video(no pun intended) I will become a student of SBL. Thank you scott thank you.
I’ve gotten great results walking the cup and it always enters my mind that tig technique pretty much always says keep your tungsten angle slight from perpendicular to the work. Walking the cup is like the opposite of that.
How do you avoid undercut on bottom of 6g of bevels for 3/32 hot and fill passes??
I have been doing for three weeks and lost 5lb, so not bad at all. I have back injury but it has held up really well. I don’t mind her enthusiasm to be honest, makes a change from the misery we see around us on the news and streets every day, lol. Now looking for 2 mile walk:)
really good thanks bob this helped me alot.great instruction
lool i couldnt help but laugh at her facial expressions lol.. good job thou! really simple an fun
Your videos are really cool. For a beginner who wants to play jazz (and has some knowledge already on other instruments such as piano) on a bass ukulele. Is there anything you could recommend as a good staring point. For example getting to know the scales and where the notes go? Hope this question makes sense. Any advice much appreciated.
Am I tripping or is the torch on more of a 45° angle not a 10°, 15° or 20° like Bob had suggested?
Does anyone know the specific calorie count of this workout?
thanks so much for putting this video up.helps me so much to see someone doing this first.helped me out so much!
I have never smiled more while sweating and breathing heavily ever! I would have have thought her enthusiasm was annoying but it so isn’t! Love it!
OK thanks. u think u could make me some? I don’t mind paying for them. if not what r da dimensions for da pegs used.
If you guys are just gonna ramble on at how creepy she is, just leave the vid and go back to fake ass mike chang.
Your video is great! After having my daughter I gained a lot of weight. I was always heavy most of my life, but my weight finally got to the point it was out of control. Currently I’ve lost 11 pounds. But I’m still 313 pounds. It’s difficult to do a lot of workouts because my knees and back start to hurt so bad. I found your video hoping to find something that was great cardio but low impact. Thank you for sharing this video. I was able to complete the entire video without stopping which is a huge accomplishment for me as I try to get healthy.
Dear Scott.
I’ve been playing bass on and off my whole life.
But I’m finally learning something.
It’s not just you.
It’s my new found love of actual knowledge.
Thanks.
Your videos are great just wondering where is mr tig? Haven’t seen him for sometime, thanks and keep the videos coming
Stopped after 11 minutes, as Ms. Austin’s style is just not my preference. All the talk about calories, burning butter and shaping up (like a CORSET?) is not what I want to hear. What about health and getting stronger?
Hey Bob. How about showing how to do off the bench welds!! Like we all do in the field using a button or lift arc start?!!
Bob what’s da name of ur pegs u use on ur table. I have da same table but I’m trying to build up my fab tools n those pegs r very useful n keeping parts lined up n square.
Do you have tabbed of what your playing? It sounds really cool. It would make it easier to follow along
Sure the end result looks cool, but your torch angle goes to crap and your chances of lack of fusion go way up when you lay wire and just walk over it, vs actually advancing a puddle and dabbing wire….it’s def not for every application
Mind blown. What you did made so much sense. I am a guitar player that is excited to learn more bass and man, it seems so easy but sounds so great. Video helped. Why the gloves? Recommend?
Oh yeah, explaining the connection to the drum was awesome too I’m attempting to sing these days with some instrumentalists, just a casual fun thing, but getting that concept of the drums, bass connection will be very helpful. Thanks again.
I had 2 babies back-to-back and all the weight gain and strain really hurt my knees and lower back. This workout is perfect for me. I’m moving all over with no pain. Thanks Denise!
Great video for us, beginners! Cannot be explained simpler! But it is way difficult to do! Nice job Bob as always…
This is nice and simple. For me. Something i am very comfy with, i feel great after the whole workout.
Right on mr.trump!!bring back the steel industry back with the jobs. Support the american workers!!
For running is it better to do this or improve balance on the ground on one foot with my eyes closed
i am currently studying walking bass, and really getting into modes in general…the most fun and rewarding time i have ever spent playing, i am a newer bass player but was a hair metal hacker on guitar since the 80’s. learned shapes never learned what they meant. after 6 months on my bass i am 500% better as a musician. its starting to click. as a random coincidence Autumn leaves is what i am using for the test mule…the half diminished was completely new!..until Mr Locrian showed me it was logical….. just FUN FUN FUN!!!!!
